We love this place, true italian food!!

By Dimar94 |

We have been going to this restaurant for many years and we love their food. It is truly italian flavor. WE have tried almost any single entree, their salads, soups, pastas, pizzas, risottos, fish everything is delicious. Also service has always been excellent. We will keep going to this place as long as we live in LA.

Still Going Strong after 25 years

By TomMalley |

This has been one of our go-to spots near UCLA for many, many years. It is tiny, casual, unpretentious, simple, and they serve delicious food. Whether it be for lunch or dinner, service and quality have remained top notch for over 25 years.....it's a family owned local gem.

Good Italian Restaurant, laid back and busy

By Lana_Calif |

Westwood Blvd doesn't do justice to a lot of diners - plenty of places shut down over last 10 years. These guys are as busy as ever. In fact, if you want to dine on Thur-Sat nights, expect some wait. The food is consistently good, the service is consistently good. The owner is always there, very hands on and friendly. That ensures quality and warm environment. reasonably priced for the quality. The only downside is that it's a smaller place, but very cozy. All in all - great choice in Westwood if you like Italian food. Pastas are fresh and often home-made. If you're looking for an upscale ambience or very formal environment, this is not the place for you.

Great Food

By Marc C |

I was in LA for work and was looking for a local spot for lunch and stumbled across Pomodoro. The previous reviews were spot on. Great food and excellent service. It doesn't look like much from outside but, is actually quite nicely done. It gave me the feel of the places in Little Italy. Our meal started with a fairly standard cesar salad and some killer bread with oil and balsamic vinegar! I had Penne con turkey sausage: Pasta with spicy tomato sauce, mushrooms, garlic and grilled turkey sausage. It was very nice, The tomato sauce was quite spicy and flavorful. The turkey sausage was excellent. Service was friendly and helpful. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in the area.

Good italian food for a chain. May not have rated so high elsewhere, but good italian food in LA is impossible to find.

Worth the 40 min. trip back on a Monday Night

By 385eileenz |

We had eaten here in June 2018 and just returned to eat there again with same couple. (Sis and Bro-inlaw) I made reservations even though it was a week-night and glad we did. I had found out that 2-3 other Italian restaurants in Westwood are also closed on Sundays (as was this restaurant) so we changed out plans to meet on a Monday evening this time in February at 6:00 p.m. We got seating at the same table as last time which was right in front of the high topped wood barrier lined with wine bottles. So no one behind us or next to us on one side. A cozy place to sit. The restaurant itself is small and cozy and laid back. Again, the bread was devoured with a second basket being requested for our entrees. The bread is similar to the squared Artisan Rolls purchased recently but theirs are hot, toasty and open to reveal soft warm wonderful bread that tastes great dipped in the Olive oil/Balsamic Vinegar on the tables. This time I ordered smart. I picked my favorite pasta (linguini) with the marinara sauce and asked that added small pieces of eggplant, garlic and mushrooms be mixed in.The pasta was cooked perfectly - not too hard (a la dente) not soft or mushy but just right!! My sister had double checked to be sure no wine was added to any sauce on her plate as her allergy to sulfites is so severe she'd be rushed to the hospital! Hers was perfect. My pasta had more sauce than was needed and next time will ask for it on the lighter side. (Came home with half my dinner and made 6 oz. of linguini to add to what I had brought home and wound up with dinner for two at home the next night!) So even better! Service was excellent and the wine choices for a glass of red and white were perfect ones. By 7 p.m. there wasn't an empty table and when we left at 7:30 two parties were waiting for an open table. Someone suggested parking across the street at Ross parking lot and walking over. Street metered parking is hard to find but this time we were lucky and found a space on the previous corner. Warning - this cute place is hard to see although on a corner as it is set back and you can't see it if coming from the north, say from Wilshire. Coming up from Olympic you can see it better but it will be on your left and you will need to cross over Westwood Blvd. if you do park at Ross or get a space on that side. Will return for the third dinner there in June 2019 again as this has become our go to dinner for a joint birthday celebration twice yearly with this family couple who live in West L.A. The prices are excellent for people who are retired and not part of the 1%. Hope this was a helpful review for anyone reading.

Sweetly engaging

By kaserimac |

We 'trip advised' this restaurant and we couldnt have been more pleased. It started with the owner, Davide, greeting us at the door. He was so engaging and in control as he swiftly orchestrated his restaurant. We opted to sit by the bar. This is not a 'seat 'em and get 'em out' place to eat. Davide wants you to fully enjoy your experience, so this place takes its time. But it's time well spent! We were greeted with some of the best bread I've ever had. The wine selection wasnt vast, but it was great! And very well priced! My husband ordered pizza, which, in my view, why bother, but then i found out why! It was some of the best pizza I've eaten! I got a salad in which all of the ingredients are were perfectly prepared. Besides the quality and abundance of the food, the price impressed us as well. Money and time well spent! Plus, chatting with the owner, who tended to us often, made our evening. Thank you Pomodoro and Davide!

Yumm!

By MrsKMB |

We visited this little-known bit of heaven after some reviews piqued our interest. Wow! This restaurant is a gem! Everything is made there, and it shows. I am almost hesitant to review it, as it is small, and I don't want it to become popular and over-crowded! The owner greeted us at the door, and regularly visited the tables to chat, be it about the food, Italy, or how our day went. My daughter ordered the little bundles of heavenly fluff, aka, gnocchi. We rarely order those elsewhere, as they can be chewy. These were incredible, in a delicious creamy sauce. I ordered the chicken farfalle, which was also incredible! The bread is excellent, and arrives hot, crunchy on the outside, fluffy inside. Yummmmmmm!!!!! We are returning next week so that we can enjoy dessert, since this last time we were too full. Can't wait!

you can never go wrong at this place

By Lily |

I like to think of Pomodoro as "my Italian place." It is downstairs from my home and I've taken everyone I know there. The first question is always, "What should I order?" to which I reply, "Doesn't matter, it's all amazing." And it's true. It is the bread, however, that is Pomodoro's biggest draw. Made on the premises, it is the perfect combination of crusty on the outside and fluffy on the inside. We keep promising ourselves we'll go there and just eat bread with their rosemary olive oil and balsamic vinegar. We never manage that because we're too tempted by their extensive, delicious menu. My standby is the farfalle alla vodka or the farfalle caprino, but really, it's all good--and very reasonably priced with generous portions. Pomodoro is tiny and intimate with super-friendly wait staff and the owner, who is always there, is an excellent host, making me feel even more so that it is "my place." There is usually a wait though so either book ahead or be patient as you wait on the sidewalk outside. There's no room to wait indoors.

Italy in West LA

By John L |

My wife and I went to this restaurant with my son, a trained chef, because he had a yen for homemade gnocchi for lunch, and had called ahead to confirm that the gnocchi was homemade.. Small, comfortable corner restaurant location, Italian accessories, attentive waitstaff. The gnocchi was freshly made and wonderful, as were the salads. We spoke with the owner, Davide, who comes from a family in Italy that has been in the restaurant business for 100 years, so he grew up working in the kitchen in Italy. He clearly loves what he does and it shows. Lots of attention to detail in sourcing and prepping ingredients. Finely diced fresh tomatoes on the Bruschetta, the Gnocchi Al Funghi was deliciously thick with lots of mushrooms, even the chicken on the Caesar salad was finely cut so that it was mixed well with the greens. The menu is classic, straightforward italian, with no pretense. Really good value for the quality of the food and the experience. Looking forward to our next visit!

This place is surprisingly good.

This place is surprisingly good.

Awesome food. Cozy neighborhood restaurant.

By Nancy D |

I love this place. The food is excellent and the prices very reasonable, I don't think I've ever had a disappointing meal here. Warm bread. Gnocchi is the best of anywhere. Cute decor...perhaps a bit crowded. Staff is really nice.

Authentic Neighborhood Italian

By Jonathan C |

Pomodoro is a great neighborhood Italian restaurant. It's very affordable and tasty. The pizzas are fired in a pizza oven and their gnocchi and risotto are well cooked. They are great for take-out as well. Parking can be troublesome around this area, so be prepared to drive around to find street parking.

Neighborhood Gem

A nice Italian restaurant ticked away in Persian Square. Always crowded so arrive early The complementary bread is always baked fresh, seconds before it arrives at your table. Great for takeout

Excellent little Eatery

By Vince M |

Little hidden gem located near Westwood. You can tell a restaurant is good when you walk in and see the place buzzing with people. We ordered various gnocchi dishes ( Home made daily) and all were absolutely superb. We left around 9.00pm and people were still walking. A place not to miss when in LA.

Great food

By Marc L |

Loved this place. We had just arrived in Westwood from a east coast flight, moved into our hotel, and were hungry for dinner. Chose this place based on Yelp sort, and walked here (shocking!) from our hotel. It is not really in Westwood Village, it's a couple of blocks south of Wilshire so it was a long walk. Totally worth every step and every bite. We had the pasta with eggplant in a tomato sauce, and a gnocchi dish, and two salads (Caesar and chopped), and the house Chianti. Every bite and sip was terrific. Plus they serve this amazing crusty Italian bread, hot from the oven, amazing dipped in olive oil. I'm already craving a return visit. When we first arrived there was a party of 8-10 celebrating a birthday, and the noise level was really loud, we could barely hear each other talking. Once that party left (and some other tables cleared out), the noise level went down to just loud, but at least we could hear each other. Still, acoustics are an issue here. Service was good, a tad slow. It took awhile for each dish to arrive, and took awhile to do the payment ritual. Despite these negatives on service and atmosphere, it still gets a 5 because of the outstanding food.

It's Italian for home cooking!

By Joseph M |

Not really! But you will think grandma is in the kitchen cooking all day! The lamb Osso Buco was tender and enshrined in a thick, well-seasoned tomato based sauce! The spaghetti side was garlicky and al dente as was the vegetable medley of carrots and zucchini. The place was packed on a Tuesday night but we were able to be seated without delay. Altogether a very cozy place with very satisfying food!

The Best Experience Ever

By Melissa T |

First off let me say this is going to be a long review. I usually only leave very short reviews but this was just a great experience. This review is for our first experience with Pomodoro but we came here a second time a year later since we live out of town. Me and my family were staying in a hotel near LAX because my daughter was enlisting into the Army and this was our last night with her until she flew out to Oklahoma for basic training and she wanted Italian food for her last meal with us, so we did some research and this place came up on Yelp and TripAdvisor. We called ahead to get a reservation for 6:00 pm on Saturday. When we arrived it was really hard to find parking but the walk did us some good and there was a nice breeze. The restaurant is a little small but quaint with nice ambiance. We were seated immediately and our waiter took our drink orders right away. The staff was so friendly and the ambiance was great. Our waiter made some suggestions which we loved so we went ahead with a few of them. When our bread arrived it was so soft and fresh and the olive oil mixture was great. We did not order any appetizers because we wanted to be hungry for our food. Our food arrived and it was amazing and fresh. I ordered the risotto, my daughter ordered the gnocchi, and my husband ordered the lamb shank. The prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food. The manager came over to chat with us for awhile and we told him about our daughter going into the military and he offered to treat her to any dessert she wanted on the house which we thought was so nice and he also thanked her for choosing to serve our country which really made our night. At then end of the night we had a beautiful dinner and memory that our family will cherish for years to come. Thank you for such a great experience.

Great Italian restaurant in Westwood (West Los Angeles).

By mcorbin560 |

Pomodoro is a great little Italian restaurant in Westwood (West Los Angeles). This restaurant is just a few blocks south of Wilshire Blvd, sitting on the corner of Westwood Blvd. I really like this restaurant alot. It's small so making reservations is highly recommended. This place, you can pretty much create your own type of dish. Many things to choose from on the menu (lots of pastas dishes and main entrees). Parking can be very tough in the area, as there is no dedicated parking lot for this restaurant. Either way, well worth going to this restaurant. Open for lunches during the week and dinner every night, except Sunday.

Tasty, reccomended

Really tasty and with a fast and good service. A pleasant surprise. Restaurant also included soup and salad in the prices.

Great Food and Great Service

By homantag |

This little gem has been around for almost 30 years per the owner, and after living in the area for nearly 6 years, we only recently actually got a chance to step in and enjoy the great food. A nice and quaint restaurant, with limited seating, great food, and great service. Not overly expensive, and a nice place to make a regular spot for trusted food with no fuss. We'll definitely be back, and glad to have found this place so we can make it a regular stop!

Best Italian

By yosuthnmasa |

Bread is off the chain! We went for dinner late one Thursday night. We both had great meals, but the bread that comes with dinner is to die for!

Repeatedly good food and service.

By 385eileenz |

Pros: Perfect, small restaurant run like a family business. Caring staff and very attentive. Returned to meet friends in Westwood area for dinner after a 3 yr. hiatus of two prior dinners and everything was just as it was then. Garlic toast and their regular bread rolls were delicious. Portions were perfect and the two people who ordered the Veal Scallopine took home a lunch size portion left over from their dinner. Entrees come with fresh vegetables and pasta (in this instance rigatoni) with plenty of sauce on veal and pasta. My order of linguini was plentiful (with again, leftovers for tomorrows lunch) and the large salad as a main course was indeed large and filling. Salami was added as requested. Wine glasses were filled well and prices ranged from 8-10.00 per glass and entrees were approx. $24.00 - $28.00. Reservations were made two days ahead for an early meal at 5:30 and by the time we left at 7:00 there were people waiting outside. They have a 4-5 tables outside on the side street as inside there are approximately 10-13 tables seating couples, foursomes and a family of 6. Cons: Only street parking and we were so lucky to get the only two spots on the side streets for the two cars. Otherwise it will be a long walk if finding spaces in the residential area.

Did not expect this fabulous treat!

By skier003 |

I love southern Italian, but not the way we all expect it with heavy sauces and drowning in cheese. This place gives fresh and flavorful a new meaning. From the hot home made flat bread to the grilled veges done to perfection. Simple, flavorful food in a small very casual setting. If you want fancy, go elsewhere. If you want great food, this is the place

Great food , great service, good prices

By itaybl |

The pasta is very good, ask for the bread . For family gathering it is great. The not so good thing is that parking is not so easy to find.

go for the butternut squash ravioli..good casual italian chain restaurant.

Nothing fancy, and yes, it is a chain, but for cheap, interesting Italian that's more than meatballs and spaghetti, Pomodoro is like my home away from home.

Tasty Italian fare

By dharma22 |

We had a nice dinner at Pomodoro Trattoria on a Friday night. As I expected, it was a bit crowded but I think that contributed to the cozy atmosphere of the restaurant. I had excellent Italian food growing up, but still thought that the food at this place was very good. It didn't blow my mind, but it was very tasty. I had the Pollo Celestino (breast of chicken sauteed with garlic and basil topped with grilled eggplant, mozzarella and tomato sauce) and everything was cooked perfectly and tasted great. My partner had the Linguine Al Salmone and it was also very nice, smokey and creamy. The only negative is that the service can be a bit slow and sometimes it's hard to get the attention of the waiters.

Friendly Neighborhood Italian

By David K |

Thin crust pizza is great. Also the pastas are wonderful and lots of Italian chicken dish choices. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Save room for the chocolate tartuffo for desert which was delicious. Nice wine menu and reasonable prices. One of the best in Westwood area.

Very friendly place with excellent service and food!

By Petter B |

This is a small and intimate (neighborhood) Italian restaurant. The food is excellent and the staff are both efficient and very friendly. A generous basket with home made bread will appear on your table immediately. The restaurant is almost always full, 14-16 tables, most small, and the atmosphere is very nice. You immediately observe that people enjoy this place. They offer a rich menu with pasta, pizza, and pollo dishes - all very tasty. There is not much more to say - go there and try it out!!

Neighborhood Jewel

By Valtraveler |

Pomodoro Trattoria is not an upscale LA food venue but rather an unpretentious corner (literally), old-time, Italian restaurant. The tables are set with paper tablecloths (more than most these days) and the room is quite unremarkable. But the food is not. It is tasty, well prepared, and served hot. Service is attentive. Everybody at our table remarked about their meal. Especially noteworthy is the hot Italian (?) style pita bread. Unfortunately, it took more willpower than we had to stop asking for refills of the bread basket. The house wine was simple and inexpensive. When you want a traditional, reasonably priced yet delicious meal, go to Pomodoro Trattoria.

EXCELLENT!

By Michelle |

Oh my gosh the food was fantastic! We were there to celebrate my daughter's 13th birthday and all of us enjoyed our dishes! The service was great as well. DEFINITELY would recommend this lovely little restaurant on the corner!

A classic for 22 years

By Toyo3 |

I have been coming invited to this restaurant for 22 years and the longevity alone as a restaurant in the competitive Los Angeles scene and specialty (Italian) should say enough! Home made bread, very attentive service and excellent and feels like eating at "grandmas." Classic dishes always well executed. Nothing fancy and small but it feels like home.

No Italian at all! Fake fake

By Brownfrangetta |

I m Italian and I can say this is so fake! Pizza disgusting, it was like domino pizza or worse than that! And the pasta was terrible as well [--]

Forget it

By Clémence B |

Nice ambience. Otherwise forget it. Red wine was bad. Oil on the table not tasty at all like olive oil. Over cooked pasta. Frozen pizza. Very disappointed !

Authentic Italian dishes

By NicMoraXO |

Food is amazing but service could have been better. They messed up a few of our orders but were willing to fix it without problems. The food is delicious and very authentic. Love their pesto pasta with added mushrooms and shrimp. Also ordered the Cesar salad, burrata, eggplant parm, chicken parm and their pink sauce pasta with chicken.

Excellent food and atmosphere

By travelgirl793 |

This place is always busy and attended by young and old alike. Prices are reasonable and the owner is very attentive and welcoming. This is a small restaurant but it is charming and has a great vibe. Highly recommend!

Great come-as-you-are spot!

By Katie R |

We relied on Trip Advisor reviews and happened into this restaurant Saturday night. The food was great and we were very pleased!

Pleasant Surprise

By Kathy G |

We picked that restaurant because of its location. As it turned out we found a winner. The food was delicious, and there was a large menu to choose from. Service was good, even though the place was very crowded. The only negatives I have to give is parking can be difficult to find, and the restaurant was very noisy.

Good italian food

By Calvin Y |

Great italian food. The bread is warm and soft Owner was friendly. The waiters are ok. Needs more tranning on service.

Best Italian on the Westside

By Tiana |

Rarely do I find a 5 star Italian restaurant. Especially BEING Italian, I am biased. I have passed this place countless times, but I always had bad timing and they were closed. We were headed up to City Target in Westwood and decided to finally give it a try. WOW! It was packed for a Tuesday night at 8pm but they got us a table right away and the manager was SO NICE. The whole staff was so nice. I actually pulled up my Yelp App and was going through the photos and I found something that looked soooooo good I showed it to him and he pointed it out on the menu (the photo wasn't labeled) and it was GREAT! Everything we had was very good including the ciabatta bread on the table. Great prices as well. The staff and food made it a 5 star experience and now my #1 place for Italian!!!

Great restaurant but lovely dinner ruined by a loud child.

By 385eileenz |

One year had passed and once again in July we met relatives for dinner at 5:30 on a weekday. As in the past, the service was incredible and for such a small restaurant it was almost as if we had our own private waiter plus helper. For the first time one entre was sent back as the veal was overcooked and difficult to cut much less chew. With an apology, a replacement item of a large Cesar salad with chicken was brought within 5 minutes. Their bread is like nothing I have ever had elsewhere. Soft, warm rolls with a soft crust and the generous serving went quickly. My request for a Pasta Primavera was taken after asking for my preference for the vegetables used. Also, when asking for some minced garlic to add to my olive oil, a large amount was brought with a smile. Not rushed but food brought quickly, hot and plentiful. The only issue, (not the fault of the restaurant itself) was an extremely loud 5 yr. old sitting in the middle of the restaurant whose chatty voice was ear splitting and ruined our lovely birthday dinner with family. She talked incessantly. Parents were obviously not bothered by what they hear all the time, but people please, even in a family style restaurant be considerate of others. In a public place, like a restaurant use inside voices!

Small and cozy place with good food. Portions are just the right size for me.

I got there at 8 and it was so crowded , I ordered the salamon pasta and it was excellent and it was around 14 dollars so it was a good deal .

Good comfortable Italian food

By Xenroner |

Small crowded Italian in the heart of Westwood. Gets crowded later on, although they took our reservation for 5 at 630 on a Friday night.

Good food, good prices and large portions in a frantic atmosphere.

By Livetowander |

The restaurant went from empty to full between 17:30 and 18:00 on a Friday night. We arrived within that window and were promptly seated. The wait for later arrivals became progressively longer. Another advantage of arriving early was that it was easier to get parking, which is always a challenge in Westwood. As the restaurant filled, it got louder. Tables are close together, and voices of patrons rose accordingly. I was initially startled by the aggressiveness of patrons when seeking the attention of waiters (jumping up, yelling), but it didn't take long to figure why they behaved in this manner. Waiters were rushed and impatient, requiring several reminders if we needed anything (like drinking water). There is a large selection of items on the menu and portion sizes large. Everyone in my group was happy with the quality of what they ordered, and prices were quite reasonable. Rather unpleasant was the feeling that we were being rushed through our meal. Empty plates from previous courses were only cleared toward the end with the bill delivered at the same time. I would give this place 3.5 stars if I could, but in having to choose between a 3 and a 4 will go with a 4.

Definitely Not Recommended

By MelWacks |

My daughter treated my wife and I for dinner at the Pomodoro. My daughter loves this place. My wife asked for no tomato sauce, but her pasta came with tomato sauce. She asked for plain pasta and received it. My dinner was a disaster. I ordered veal parmigiana with no cheese. They gave me chicken with no breading. It tasted like it was raw chicken. Ech!!! The veggies were drenched in garlic so I couldn't eat them. I didn't send my meal back because I didn't want to upset my daughter.

A touch of genuineness in the culinary noise of LA

By Giacomo B |

I happen to come by solo in a winter rainy Monday night and it suddenly felt like home. Pollo alla cacciatora was delicious, accompanied by sautéed vegetables and a mum-like tomato sauce. You won't definitely miss the terrific fragrance of the focaccia they serve (by far the best pizza I tried abroad). And I was even offered a damn fresh and creamy tiramisù! What's more? Just one small remark: coffee was still far away from Italian standards ;) Complimenti!

Very Good Food for Moderate Prices

By KCV999 |

I have now been to Pomodoro four times and had something different each time. The full size salads, fish and small salads were all to my liking. The salads are not overdressed, and the service is prompt.

Great food

By Ramadama |

I really enjoyed the whole experience at this restaurant. We were greeted by the owner, David and were seated in a wonderful spot by the window. The food was delicious, especially the calamari, burrata and pizza. Throughout the meal David checked in with us to see how we were enjoying the food. This is a great local restaurant.

Piece of Italy

By Kim P |

If you like top notch Italian food and great service, you definitely want to try this place. Along with the amazing food, the delightful ambience and authentic feel will have you hooked. I knew straight away I’d be back. Beautiful and unassuming. I’ll go every time I come to Westwood (west LA).

Can't go wrong with this place.

By Flashwpb06 |

We found this place on trip advisor. We called to make reservations but were told there was no need there were tables available. When we arrived at the restaurant we were greeted at the door and seated quickly. The staff was quick, friendly and attentive. The food was good and arrived at our table quickly. You won't regret having dinner at this place.

A hidden gem in Westwood, Ca.

By 385eileenz |

Found on line and trip advisor reviews were positive. Made a reservation after checking that my sister could get pasta dishes without any type of wine as she had a severe allergy to the sulfites. This cute very small restaurant is on the corner of Westwood Blvd and Wilkens and there are parking spaces on the street and parking on the residential side streets. There reviews raved about the bread and a basket with four warm large buns came out and upon request again when the main entrees came. I ordered a build your own pasta dish taking items from one pasta dish on the menu adding it to my base of linguini. Added items were spinach, mushrooms and garlic with a marinara sauce. Another had penne with eggplant and two others ordered small ceasar salads along with their dinners of arbiata gnocchi. Most entrees ranged between $11.00 to $14.00. Glasses of wine more than reasonable at $6.75-$8.00 per glass average. At 5:30 on a Tuesday the place was packed by 6:15 and there are only maybe 10 tables with a small ante room with three tables off to the side. It appears many customers were regulars and the manager and waiters were friendly and attentive. If I lived closer I would return here but my guess do live close by and said they will return

Nice place

By Ali G |

This Italian restaurant is truly one of the best in town! The portion sizes and location offer great value for the price. They have a wide array of options including pizzas, pastas, and risottos, all bursting with hearty flavors. Even during busy times, the service remains exceptional. It's worth noting that there may be lines during peak hours, but trust me, the wait is absolutely worth it! I highly recommend this place!

An Italian gem in Westwood

By Pember123 |

Love this place! Been to westwood for conferences a few times and I always come here to eat! I usually only order a salad and pasta, no room for dessert. My recommendations: Salad - caprino or the beets & goat cheese Pastas - gnocchi alla pasana (eggplant), farfalle alla vodka, tortelloni alla boscaiola And the fresh bread! To die for!! Love this place!

very nice pizzas

Great real Italian pizzas with very tasty toppings. Crust is very chewvy and definately the place to go if you want real Italian pizza.

Awesome food!

By Joethecritique |

This is perhaps the best Italian food I have had in some time. The bread was so good that I could have just had that with parmesan cheese and olive oil. The salad was excellent. The frutti di mare was fresh and very tasty. I wanted to eat the left over sauce/broth but I was too full. The service was excellent. The markup on wines was reasonable. I will definitely going back next time I am in LA.

Excellent food, friendly staff, affordable prices.

By T2025IHmichaelo |

This is one of my favorite "GoTo" restaurants when I'm in Westwood. The staff is always very friendly and the food is excellent at affordable prices. The dining room is comfortable. This restaurant is frequently by residents and can be very busy, especially after 7:00 pm, so there is a wait sometimes.

For good Italian cuisine

Very good Italian food, authentic flavors and excellent variety in the menu. Can be crowded so a reservation is reccommended. We enjoyed the food and atmosphere, service was excellent, and also hospitality of the owner, who personally overview our satisfaction. Great value for the money

Cozy atmosphere with a great menu

By McMidgy |

I'd love to come back here because their pizzas looked incredible, and my dish didn't blow me away although it was very good. I absolutely loved the atmosphere here, and for a crowded night I was surprised at how quickly we were seated. The service was definitely great. I ordered the chicken parmigiana, and while the portion was very generous, it was not breaded the way that I prefer. It was just chicken smothered in sauce and cheese; not bad at all, but I've had just better chicken parm. My husband loved the penne con turkey sausage; he'd recommend it. I would love to come here again because the service and atmosphere were great, and I have a lot of faith in the pizzas that I kept spying everywhere around me. I'd just order chicken parm somewhere else.

Unpretentious and Unbelievably good

By IraT149 |

Pomodoro is a small restaurant that is always packed with customers for good reason. The food is sensational, the services fast and always with a smile. And, despite close quarters the noise level never interferes with private conversation. This is the true definition of a neighborhood gem. I could eat their Chicken Pomodoro every night!

Great little eatery in a busy area of Westwood. The gnocchi options are top notch. Prompt and courteous service by well trained staff. Perfectly prepared and portioned. The bread served as an appetizer has a superb and sublime crust with a soft middle that is sheer bliss. Left here full and happy.

AMAZING!!!

The food is amazing, the staff is so friendly!! Could not love this place more. We have been to this place several times when we come to LA from AZ. We have tried several dishes and not one disappoints. 👍🏻👍🏻.

Simple, delicious, consistent and very satisfying

Picky eaters won't be disappointed. Everything is consistently good from the meatballs to the pasta to the chicken parm. It's a casual spot but they've worked hard to survive through the pandemic and they treat their customers very well. The food is great and the restaurant is like an unexpected gem that you find and never want to forget. I've been coming for many years. Come try it - it's delicious and well-priced, too!

Very good!

Was staying in the area on college visits and ate here one night with my family. Greeted warmly and seated promptly. Our food was excellent, everyone enjoyed their pizzas and other entrees. I had chicken fiorentina and it was delicious. Only negative was in getting drink refills- hard to get a waiters attention sometimes. I would come here again.

Good food, but too crowded and noisy

By nboyars2015 |

People line up on the sidewalk for Pomodoro, but we give up. The tables are too close together and the place is too noisy. Also we always feel rushed because of all the people waiting. So, while food is good and the prices are reasonable, it's not a relaxing atmosphere. There's also the nightmare of trying to find parking on Westwood Blvd.

Everything gnocchi and chicken!

16 chicken options and gnocchi is homemade. Pollo fiorentina is incredible and it is hard to eat it all - so much food.

Diamond in the rough ...

Cozy corner neighborhood restaurant, offers the locals a place to eat wonderful tasting Italian food. Tonight, we had the grilled vegetables as an appetizer, and two gnocchi meals, which were delicious. Great menu to choose from, including several different pizzas. This restaurant is the real deal, so give it a try. Point to remember ... parking can be a challenge. Street parking is available, if you can find an empty space. I'm not recommending this, but Ross retail store has underground free parking w/validation (1hr.) (2 hrs. w/purchase), ... I'm just saying .. you know what I mean? Hope this is helpful.

Laid back.

Food - check, service - check, ambiance - check!!

What a nice restaurant. Met up with my college roommate who I had not seen in over 40 years. Had a reservation here for 7 PM on a Friday night. It was crowded and there were people waiting to get in. We were seated just a few minutes after 7. The food was outstanding - I had the salmon special cooked to perfection. a salad to start which was also tasty. The service was very attentive without being too much. and the ambiance was nice - a very lively atmosphere inside. Would definitely come back.

like in Italy

I know the Italian cuisine very well and it is not easy to find an restaurant in the States which serves classic Italian Food. But the food we had in this Restaurant was unbelievable delicious, and not that expensive. We had Bruscette, garlic bread, Tagliatelle alla salmone and Penne Arrabbiata. The Restaurant was full so I recommend to do an table in Advance, we had a great evening and the staff was very friendly.

Great local Italian restaurantb

For a nice Italian restaurant in Westwood, this is the place. Great service and takeout. Friendly staff and best on weekdays as Friday and Saturday night are always packed. The bread is awesome.

Excellent Italian-owned neighborhood (NOT chain) restaurant

By AJD_CA |

Contrary to an earlier reviewer, this is not a chain restaurant, but an authentic trattoria faithfully operated by an Italian-born owner. Very casual, easy going atmosphere and pasta dishes are always perfectly prepared. The place is very popular with neighborhood families and couples, as well as those who hear, by word-of-mouth, that it is a place to get reliably excellent pasta dishes and other casual Italian fare, for good value and without a lot of fussiness. We live nearby and, notably, there are several Italian restaurants on the same 2-block strip of Westwood Blvd. (We also like Campagnola, especially if we're in the mood for a quieter, slightly more elegant evening.) But our frequent choice for a casual yet delicious Italian meal is Pomodoro. Also, it's very vegetarian and vegan friendly and our favorites are the spaghetti Pomodoro and the penne arrabiata.

Italian perfection!

You can tell how good a restaurant is by how busy it is, well we were here on a Tuesday night and this place was packed! The man at the door(maybe the owner?) could not have been nicer although he was BUSY! Turns out we only waited about 20 minutes and let me tell you it was so worth it! I can't pronounce any of the food we ate, but it was wonderful in every way! Oh, and the bread was SO freaking good! Wish I was there right now!

This is your Mama's Italian Kitchen

We decided to stop in for a late dinner after a UCLA Volleyball game. Tired of the chain restaurants in the area so we found Pomodoro. The reviews looked great and I must agree that this is a great place for Italian. The trattoria is in a great location just at Wilshire Blvd/ Westwood Blvd. The restaurant is very quaint and the staff are very welcoming. We arrived late but were not rushed out. We were pleasantly surprised when the owner came to our table to greet us. Does this happen anymore? We learned from the owner that the Italian recipes have been in family for generations. Let me tell you it shows. The dishes are terrific. The menu offers everything from salmon, anti pasta dishes such as grilled veggies, ensalata caprese and the traditional pastas. Try the spaghetti and meatballs or the chicken parmesan .. the sauce is delightful. Beer and wine are offered to compliment your Italian plates. I highly recommend a dining experience at Pomodoro Trattoria. Mangia!

This Place was Excellent!

We wanted to try this place after being in the Westwood area several times in the past. We called last minute to make reservations for our party of 3, but could only get 9:00 pm. We took it and thought if we showed up a little early, we might get a seat. They were still very busy….which was a good sign actually. We chatted with the host (owner we think) for a few minutes about our past trips to Italy, who was very friendly. Our table was ready shortly before 9:00 pm. We ordered a large Caesar salad for the 3 of us to share. It was good and so was the fresh, hot bread that it was served with. For our entrees we ordered Chicken Marsala in a cream sauce (Pollo Al Porcini), Pasta Pomodoro and Linguini with Clams. We shared tastes of each other’s entrees and all were excellent. The service was very good and the food came very quickly. The prices were very reasonable and the place had a very nice ambiance. We recommend Pomodoro Trattoria and will go back.
