Great Breakfast in the Fashion District

By Grady P |

This place is just great all around. It's over in the Fashion / Flower District. I've never been there when there wasn't a wait. But it's been worth it each time. The chicken and waffles is awesome.

Cute joint in the heart of LA’s flower district

By neslyn |

We visited P+R for breakfast early on a Saturday morning. The service was super friendly and the food delicious. As other reviewers have highlighted, the neighborhood is quite scary, but then again all of LA is. There are several private parkings around the block, so parking is not an issue. Kudos to these guys!

Visiting from out of town. Wouldn't go back, unfortunately, because the food and service were good. But the neighborhood is truly scary (and I'm from Chicago) and the bathrooms are gross and also require a scary trip. There must be restaurants as good or better where you're not scared to walk from your car to the restaurant, or from your table to the bathroom. Seriously.

Kind of ordinary although smell was amazing! Did I order the wrong thing?

By Craig Y |

Breakfast was pretty ordinary. Eggs were cooked fine, bacon had the texture of turkey bacon (maybe it was) but wasn't too flavorable, and the hash brown "thing" was over cooked. My friend had the shredded pork hash and loved it. Menu had interesting items - pancakes looked amazing. Being in the flower district the entire restaurant smelled like fresh flowers! No order taking service - had to order at counter - but ambience is cool.

I wouldn’t wait more than 15 mins for a table here

By Sweet&Salty |

We brunched here on January 1st when many places were closed for the holiday including the flower market across the street. I heard Poppy + Rose gets especially busy when the market is open - be forewarned. There was a line when we arrived since you can't write your name down if waiting for a table. Upside about it was, there were only 5 groups ahead of us. Downside was, despite the many available tables, they didn't have enough staff. When it's your turn, you get called in to the counter to order and pay before getting seated. Make sure you ask for the menu while in line so you don't feel rushed when the time comes to order. The Scramble was a good choice. It hit all the points I was craving for brunch without feeling heavy with a side salad and only a piece of toast to accompany it. To be honest, I thought their Chicken and Waffles was missing a certain something special. I also ordered a cappuccino but had I known before paying that there was a check-in offer for free a cup of joe, I would have stuck with that. It's a shame when people rave about a place and get you all excited only to walk out asking yourself, "Why do people wait in line to eat here??"

Simply Relaxing Cafe In the Flower District

By 20Twenty |

We had an early morning breakfast here. The place smells like the flowers surrounding the area. The service was fast and the ambience of the place was very inviting, quaint and so simply decorated. The pancakes were delicious and the coffee was prepared fresh. It was a nice early morning breakfast.

Great food, friendly service

By Thexprt7 |

One of the best breakfast I have had in a long time. Restaurant is right in the middle of the LA Flower District. Wait outside on a Saturday morning was about 20 mins and well worth it. They seat you as they have open tables in the restaurant. Order and pay at the front desk and they direct you to a table for seating, super efficient. Wait staff was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. We had the Chicken and waffles and the pancakes, eggs and bacon and everything was cooked to perfection with just the right portions. If you are anywhere near this place it’s worth a stop.

Southern comfort food here in LA

By Mrs_JSR |

Can't wait to go back! So nice to have some southern comfort food here in LA. Just wish they had more staff to handle the workload

Food Average/Service Excellent!

By Libra123456 |

You walk in order your food at the counter, receive a number (to place at table) and then find your seat. The staff will bring your food/drinks to you. I ordered a drink which was very refreshing but gave me NO buzz and the chicken and waffles. My husband ordered a Bloody Mary (which is $16 and come with a whole chicken wing in it) and PO Boy sandwich. Someone had to double back with my hubby because you can get your PO boy shrimp fried or grilled and the person that took our order forgot to ask him. Needless to say his sandwich took longer than it should have. My hubby had the Bloody Mary so he warned me that the chicken was not good. Once my food arrived, he was right the chicken was NOT good. It had no flavor at all. I had to send it back. The staff was cool about me ordering something else. He suggested the pancakes. In the mist of that my husbands food came. I tasted it and it was really good so I helped him eat it. The guy that helped us was so nice because of the taste of the food and the fact that it took a while he ended up removing my meal and my drink. He offered for us to come in later for dinner and he would take care of us. We didn’t go back but we certainly did appreciate his level of customer service. By the time my pancakes came I was full so we decided to take it to go and give it to one of the homeless people that was in the surrounding area. That was rewarding for my husband and myself.

Nice restaurant in the Flower District of LA

By iris B |

Went for a late lunch on a Friday afternoon. The parking and check in process is a bit odd but once you know it's ok. You park on the roof and the patio is on the roof; however, you have to walk down three flights of stairs to check in on the first floor and down the street from the parking garage. After ordering, you can go back to the roof patio if you want to eat outside. We decided to eat downstairs in the restaurant. My friend and I ordered Cobb salads and our other friend ordered the waffle and chicken. We all enjoyed our meals and would order the same thing again. The only negative was the the Arnold Palmer that I ordered was really weak and watered down. Don't forget to get your parking ticket validated--the fee will be $3. with the validation. Service was excellent, Would go back if in the area.

Good value and tasty food!

By razfan2001 |

This place has a nice friendly ambiance and is the perfect place to eat after a morning at the flower-mart. The food portions are a good size and is reasonable priced. The chicken and waffles is great, as is the breakfast burrito and hash. I am trying to work my way through the menu. It's very popular so there may be a line and they do not seat incomplete parties. You form a line outside, order and pay for your food, and then you are seated.

Great hidden gem

By Phoenix D'Vyne |

THIS is the place to be! Talk about hidden gems and holes in the wall, if you don't already know about this place then you probably would never see it! Hidden in the arts district, Poppy + Rose is a very very classy restaurant for the area. And it is a guarantee that you will be waiting in line for at least 20 minutes if you go during peak hours on the weekends! Seems like my fellow Angeleno's know as good as I do how good of food this place has. And by good, I mean excellent, they literally have all of their own original recipes, not to mention the customer service is always top quality.

FLOWERS AND FOOD

By K K |

When you are in the need for flowers come to the flower district in downtown LA but make sure you come with an appetite too. Why? You have to stop at Poppy & Rose. They have a great breakfast and lunch menu. Owned by the same people who own the Peaches truck you can not go wrong. The fried chicken sandwich is the best ever. It's a great place to go to when you work in downtown or just visiting LA.

Friendly, bright and yum.

By Laura G |

The only downside was we had to wait a little while outside before ordering and taking a seat. Apparently, that's how it usually is no matter what time you go. It's worth it, though! Servers were super sweet and didn't take long at all to get our food. The chicken and waffles were spectacular (and that's coming from a southern girl) and the breakfast burrito was fresh and delicious. Great stop before heading to the flower mart next door.

Our LA Trip!

By Robbie E |

we had just got in to town, change clothes and decided to go for a walk. It was about 6 o'clock and from yelp advice wee found Poppy & Rose. My favorite was there chicken wing arm great place to do a selfie. upon entering the Resturant we were greeted with a warm hello. Our table had a cute little flower on it. I order the chicken pot pie it was great it even had a chicken thigh sticking out of it as a fun lil ploy. overall great restaurant and character

Delightful brunch/lunch

By LillyfromLA |

The food here is excellent! For those visiting downtown LA, I'd recommend planning to eat here if you are visiting the fashion and flower districts. The wholesale shopping districts are walkable (and can get congested with traffic and limited street parking) so it's best to pop over to P & R by foot. I've had most things on the menu so you can't go wrong. Plus the food is fresh and affordable! I also like the airy interior decore. Keep in mind that you may have to wait for a table during the lunch rush. Tip: check out the CA Flower Mart across the street!! The neighboring flower vendors also have good deals! Tip: for non-locals, don't walk south of San Pedro or east of Wall & 7th unless you know what you're doing. That's moving into the Skid Row area and industrial locations. There may be some safety concerns or just cause discomfort for people who are unfamiliar with the realities of homelessness and mental health issues. If you need to go northeast, use Los Angeles St or Main St. Just a heads up.

fluffiest pancakes ever

By MarjanehMoradshahi |

Located in the middle of the flower district... My husband, Omid Moradshahi, and I aren't huge pancake eaters, but the fluffy pancakes from Poppy and Rose are just incredible. When Omid Moradshahi and I have even more of an appetite, we opt for the chicken and waffles. Like most trendy breakfast places, this place can get quite packed, so if you can stagger your visit to an off time, you will avoid some waiting time. Omid Moradshahi and I once got the pulled pork hash which was full of flavor, but we prefer the previous mentioned items a little bit more. Lastly, Omid Moradshahi and I got their ginger lemonade the last time we visited and it was quite gingery and so refreshing! I can 't emphasize the quality of the food enough, fresh, tasty, and delectable menu! Marjaneh Moradshahi

Really good breakfast find in the flower district

By Lucy F |

After reading about this cafe from an online blog, I thought it worth a visit. Really cool and friendly cafe serving up a fantastic all day breakfast menu. The only slight down side is the noise. The place is full of metal and there's nothing to absorb the noise. So not somewhere to take older family members! Loved the food; their fried chicken and waffle is a hit.

Just Average

By iCritic |

Did not live up to it’s good reviews. Wasn’t horrible, wasn’t anything special. The highlife was the wonderful smell of all the fresh cut flowers. The parking meters only provide 25 minutes - so beware!

The Fried Chicken Waffle place

By JanniMT |

The Fried Chicken Waffle place to go to I DT LA. Friendly service, good food, fair prices. Cosy and clean. The acoustics and toilets are not nice, but that’s the only minuses. I had the avocado toast, a cappuccino and a cucumber lemonade - very delicious. (And tasted the fried chicken waffle - was really good too)

It is in a odd location across from the

By Trails4U |

flower market, so wasn’t sure what to think. We waited in line for 45 minutes and that is why I’m giving it a 4 instead of 5. The food was great and very tasty, so that wasn’t the issue. I just thought the restaurant was catering to the hype of the reviews as there was plenty of seating inside while people wait. The only other reason for the empty seating was that the kitchens couldn’t handle the load. Service was great and I’d go back. Just make sure that the empty seats get filled, so people don’t have to wait as long.

Southern brunch spot in the Flower District

By Shanelle |

Southern spot with patio seating on a rooftop in DTLA. Came here with a friend for breakfast on a Saturday at 9:45am. Made a reservation online beforehand. There’s a 15 minute grace period if you’re running late. They have garage parking at 742 Maple Ave and it’s $4 with validation (cash only). Otherwise, note that the street meters on Maple Ave were $5/hour (except Sundays.). Credit cards accepted. They were unfortunately out of matcha that morning, but they do have coffee and mimosas. I got the fried chicken Benedict and my friend got the pulled pork hash. The portion sizes are larger than I was expecting. The fried chicken was tender, and the Benedict was actually on a biscuit rather an English muffin. They have single use utensils at the tables. Note on the restrooms - you’ll either have to try to find the first floor of the restaurant, or if you take the stairs like me, you’ll somehow end up on the street. You’ll make an immediate right and you’ll be in the california flower market, which has public restrooms. Overall, it’s a cute spot for brunch.

Classing up the neighborhood

By NikiMustTravel |

As the DTLA area expands it's revival, Poppy & Rose puts down roots in the Flower District. This sweet gem of a place can be found in the heart of the strangely gritty yet beautiful flower district, right across the street from the famous Los Angeles Flower Market, which is also surrounded by other flower and Knick-nack shops. I met a friend for brunch here on a Friday and it was bustling! But then, the flower district is most busy on the weekends, so be prepared for that, as well. Parking was super easy and inexpensive (check P&R's website for location) and allowed us the time to brunch and flower shop afterwards for a whole $2. Maybe the cheapest parking in DTLA! The decor of the restaurant was shabby chic farm meets downtown loft and it was spacious but cozy, albeit a bit loud with the low ceiling. I'm still not a fan of the order before you sit scene, where there is no assigned wait staff and your food comes out as it comes off the line. My food was delivered to me about 4-5 mintues before my friend's and that's a bit annoying because I don't want my food to get cold, but I don't want to start eating before her, as manners dictate. The food was quite good, I had the Pulled-Pork Hash, Iced Coffee, and side order of fresh fruit. The food portions were generous, but I would call the Hash more of a hash-brown as it was in cake form. The pork, however, was on point (I'm a big BBQ fan and pretty picky about these things!). My friend ordered the basic breakfast and thought it made top quality ingredients. Although she was disappointed that they didn't have sourdough bread, which is a bit strange considering that's it's a pretty desired choice for breakfast toast. Over all, you can't beat the price for the delicious food and the great location for flower shopping. It makes for a really great morning!

Yummy food, hipster spot in DTLA

By flw217 |

The ordering set-up is unusual - you queue outside & they bring you a menu ready to order as soon as you get in the door. They're pretty good at making sure the place doesn't get over full and there was space left between tables/even on the long tables though there were people queuing outside so it's worth calling up prior to make sure the wait isn't too long. We queued for about 20mins as he had advised us on the phone. The breakfast is worth it though! The gravy & biscuits are yee-gods kinds of good! The southern fried chicken sandwich was delicious too - crispy, tasty & no grease. though very filling. The were quick to bring it out after we had sat down. Good prices too. The restaurant itself is cute & hipster (as are the waiters ;)). Must say though the toilet is not very nice cleanliness wise (I think its a communal one for the building though there are mens & womens), avoid if you can!

Good choice for breakfast

By memvMty |

The food is very good, everything we ordered we liked. The service is great and very pleasant. The service is fast and punctual. The restaurant is in a shopping plaza, making it a little easier to find parking. They gave us a table outside and I didn't love it. It's next to the street and although there's a separation, there's still the noise of passing cars. The area is nice.

Finger lickin' good-

By GuidoKarp |

Oh yes. My wife and I have passed this place many times when visiting the adjacent Flower market in DTLA - and it was always busy. After we had all our flowery-needs yesterday I asked my wife to Yelp "best breakfast in DTLA" and it popped up - the Poppy & Rose - and we were standing in front of it. I must say two things: I did not find the ambiance too appealing and they you could hear through the open door it was extremely loud. Still, we gave it a try - and I can tell you: it was delicious. Our server - one you would describe as the typical California surfer boy - was extremely charming - so despite the so-so ambiance (the vibe of this place was great though) and the noise we will definitely go again. Would we make a 30+ min detour just to eat here (mandatory in my rating scheme to achieve five out five): again, oh yes!

Encore

By JCarr021 |

Words cannot explain how bad I wanted to visit this place! I didn't know about this place until 1-2 days before, and I noticed reservations were all booked up. I wanted somewhere nice to stop for brunch before getting to the airport to leave our vacation. I never do this, but I took a chance and just went there to see what would happen and would you know we waited one minute or less for our table and we're seated almost immediately!! I was so happy! Very interesting how you enter, order and pay in advance. Tip and all. We did it, we know how to follow rules but it was still different to us. The guy (Margo) we had was very kind. We ordered a couple orders of Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Waffle Platters as well as the Lumberjack Pancake Breakfast and Steak & Eggs. I took a chance on the Limeade Blackberry beverage. Everything came out magnificently good! It was worth every penny, every tip, any monetary amount you can think of! Visiting this Black Owned Business that's highly rated on Yelp before leaving LA put a huge smile on my face and I would definitely return back when visiting Cali as well as recommend to everyone that'll listen.

Good food...location beware!

By Julius S |

Very long line on the Saturday morning we visited. The wait was about 45 minutes. The food was good. They have a restroom but go before you get here or you will have to walk through a warehouse to relieve yourself. Also the neighborhood is not the best as we parked a couple blocks away and literally had to walk through a block of homeless people with tents pitched and to say the stench will make u nauseous is an understatement. Would visit again though all things considered.

Breakfast

By Libya H |

Chill atmosphere with walk up sit down service... Meaning you can wait to be seated. There can be a bit of a line but it's totally worth it! I like the Benedict (weekends only) The decor the food and the service are all a very special addition to the flower mart. I enjoyed my meal very much.

Weekend visit 1 hour time

By UHcougarBdaygirl |

The food here is good. Visited on Saturday and hade a 20 minute wait outside the restaurant. There was always a line from about 11-1 that we were there. Once we ordered it was only about 10 minutes to wait for the food. Spent about $65 for two people which is not a value at all. Parked at a near by parking lot for $5. Lots of homeless in the area and the fowl stench is off putting. Bathrooms for the restaurant are by code so ask your server for the door number. Glad I tried it, but it didn’t wow me enough to pay their prices again.

Delicious; Pricey

By solo-reader-wanderer |

A cool, hipster spot in the flower district of LA. Often a line, and it's best to know what you want by the time you get to the register. The atmosphere was nice—shared tables—and the food was good though a bit overpriced. My friend told me that their biscuits and gravy and their chicken and waffles are excellent. I had a lemonade, which was prepackaged and overpriced but still honestly delicious, and an excellent hash with bacon, mushrooms, and fresh greens on the side that was honestly really excellent. Overall, a great place for a hipster-type brunch.

Better than anything I had in the South!!!!

By Debbie S |

What a find. Came here on a BlackboardEats and will definitely come back. I’ve had a lot of luck with all the new DTLA eateries and thought this would be worth with a try. The fried chicken dinner was the ticket for sure. Crisp, juicy ample portions and just downright delicious. We started with the fried chicken spicy wings appetizer which were also perfect. I had 1/2 fried chicken dinner is served with mash potatoes and gravy (either on the dish on on the side). Definitely enough to share but I brought 1/2 I’d it Home for lunch today. I recommend the gravy on the side as not to mush up the perfectly crispy skin of the chicken. One of us also ordered the meat loaf dinner and she ate the whole meal (which is not normal for her). As an added treat we ordered the mix berry cobbler which is made to order. It to was perfection, it came out hot, bubbly, with plenty of berries and the crumble was browned but definitely not overdone. Our only comment was it needed a scoop of vanilla ice cream as opposed to a dollop of whipped cream. True, the location, on Wall Street in the heart of the flower district is a bit off the beaten path, but well worth it. Plenty of street meter parking at dinner time and if you like a bit of Southern style cooking with a sweet homey feel this is a must try.

Yum food and nice ambience

By wgforester |

Lots of good things to say about this Flower Market spot. It has a French country look to it that matches all the flowers about. Order at the bar and take a seat either in a booth or on one of the long country tables. The menu is fun. I thoroughly enjoyed my chicken and waffles. The chicken was incredibly moist and delicious and the batter had a great flavor. One of my favorite examples ever. My partner had a lox bagel sandwich that she thoroughly enjoyed. Drinks were great and I intend to make this a regular stop when I'm visiting the flower or fabric markets. Service was solid and everyone was very nice.

Good food - Loud atmosphere

By iris B |

Went with friends for lunch. Parking can be an issue but I was able to find street parking. My friends ordered salads and they said the salads were very good. I ordered chicken wings and a side green salad. My two wings were nine dollars. They were fried and seasoned well but not very crispy. The ambient noise was so loud that it was hard to hold a conversation.

Best breakfast in my trip so far

By Luis G |

We thought it was going to be just a normal breakfast, but the food was amazing! I had a breakfast sandwich and a Brookie (brownie cookie) and it truly was unbelievable. The place is really nice decorated, but its kind of hard to see or recognize from outside.

Good breakfast in a casual setting

By RDBAz |

We had breakfast with friends so we had an opportunity to try several of the items on the breakfast menu. The biscuits and gravy were served with a side salad, which was an attempt to balance the heavy nature of biscuits and gravy. The salad was good and fresh, as one would expect. The gravy itself was outstanding, but the biscuits were a little tough on the bottom, a sign that they had been sitting in a warming oven for too long. The waffle, which is available either Elkhart or with buttermilk fried chicken was crispy and flavorful. The fried chicken option was also well-prepared and seasoned, and fortunately was not greasy at all. The orange juice is fresh squeezed, and the coffee was of high quality. There were two drawbacks to the restaurant, first they serve their Eggs Benedict on weekends only, and secondly, the lox and bagel did not have particularly good lox which is obviously a major drawback. I would encourage them to make the benedicts available seven days a week, which might also help with the biscuits being a little fresher.

Love this place!

By Keva L |

The chicken and waffles are legit! Everyone is super nice. We've been here 3 separate times over the years and they never disappoint.

Hidden gem

By jasminejones1990 |

The location is super busy and sketchy if you aren’t from a major city.... but don’t miss this great eats .... the wait time was 15/20 mins (outside) Let me explain the space is cute and they don’t have a ton of space table setting was super cute but the line is outside only not inside at all Ordering was upon entering and you were given a number our food came shortly upon choosing a table And my 5 year old liked the food although all of the menu items were a little more than average American food Bathroom was definitely not what was expected because they share it with the floral shop next door so be aware when you go or send your child to toilet (depending on age and independence)

Once but not twice

By Litchi |

Honestly, very disappointed. On social medias and even here, this place looks fabulous. But first, we wanted to eat outside so we asked for a table on the terrace. It was literally on a parking! So if you want to go there, don’t eat outside. Moreover the district is awful and very scary. Then, the food is okay, nothing extraordinary honestly and this is pricey. Not worth it. The waiter was not even nice, just polite and there was nothing special for Easter. You want an advice? Don’t go there.

A gem eatery located next to wholesale flower mart.

By Yodotdog |

Met up with a dear friend and we're very surprised to dine at the eatery. You order at the the front counter (very informative individual) escorted to your table and really I've your drinks, water and order #. Few small tables around the edge and a few long community tables Wichita allow for conversation without cell phones. Modern breakfast items as well as salads and burgers. Moderate prices. Enthusiastic staff. Very enjoyable menu. Street parking only. Location near wholesale flower mart in DTLA. A gem.

Pleasant morning

By pbslickman |

The venue has great cappuccino. Similar to Parisian coffee. The area is in the flower district so it has a nice ambiance. The eggs and bacon are standard good quality and the brick hash browns are pretty solid. Overall I really enjoyed this spot for a quick breakfast.

Bad Pancakes!

By Jonathan |

Took myself out for breakfast on Saturday and popped into Poppy and Rose prior to my weekly flower mart jaunt. The ambiance is great but the food leaves a LOT to be desired. Ordered the Lumberjack breakfast and my first order of pancakes were burnt to a crisp and undercooked. The wait staff apologized and got me a second order which was once again undercooked! No attempt was made to reimburse me for the food so clearly I will not be returning.

Excellent, thoughtfully and quickly prepared, affordable brunch

By saucyb |

slightly confusing set up: not clear that you should form a line outside the entrance, then order and pay upon entry and be taken to your seat. it works, as long as you know how to do it (they don't always clarify that) the prices are reasonable and the menu offers something for everyone. indulgence: french toast or fantastic biscuits and gravy; healthy: grain bowls or salads.

Fantastic breakfast spot in DTLA

By Andrew R |

The restaurant is a small little place off Wall St just outside the main hustle and bustle of DTLA. You order at the counter from a small menu of classics and classics with a spin. This morning I had the Lumberjack Breakfast and it was delish. The pancakes were light and fluffy, the bacon was crisp, the brick of hash-brown was crispy on the outside and light on the inside. The coffee was robust with flavor and refilled often by the staff. Definitely worth a stop for some artisan breakfast choices when you're in DTLA.

DON'T LET THE AREA FOOL YOU

This place is a gem. A busy little restaurant in the heart of the flower district with the most amazing chicken sandwich & the best pattie melt ever.

Delightful organic restaurant by flower market LA

By Zoehoward1152 |

Lovely organic restaurant right in the heart of the flower market. Great food and good service. Just right after walking round and seeing all the beautiful flowers!

Not impressed.

By thisgirl_Gray |

Brought my family here for breakfast who were visiting from out of town because I had heard good things about it. The food was good but the service was terrible. They messed up my mom's order and they forgot my niece's drink. They never came to refill our waters, and the service was slow considering the place was not busy because we had a 9am reservation. I'm going to blame the service on Covid19 because I hear that its been hard on restaurants to find food help since reopening, but I'm on the fence as to weather I will return.

I shouldn't tell u about this place!

By Howard |

This is a small 40-50 seat place in the heart of the flower Mart in Los Angeles. I stopped here for breakfast, after buying my wife flowers. Place is rustic with charm and great fresh food. Their oatmeal was perfect with fresh berries and hidden brown sugar on the bottom. The aroma of the flowers permeate the restaurant making the experience even better! The owners were friendly and aren't too busy not to spend some time speaking with their customers. There is a very palpable downtown hipster feel without a sense of exclusion.

Great food, poor service.

By Peter S |

Really delicious food. Poor service. I ate here last weekend, and had a delicious meal. However the service definitely let them down, admittedly they were busy but staff were un-attentive and didn’t communicate well. Having queued for a table (no issue there) I was seated and had to ask twice for some water and a menu. The ordering process was slow and anytime I wanted a refil or something I had to grab the attention of a staff member who then said they couldn’t help as they were busy and ask someone else. While the food was incredible the service just lacked

Incredible.

By Ric O |

I had chicken and waffles, my partner had biscuits and gravy. It was fantastic. The service was very good. The prices were reasonable and it was clean. Not an easy feat for a restaurant in downtown LA. We will definitely be back. Thanks guys for a job well done

Chicken and Waffles

By Charles S |

This place was so good I went there twice in the few days I was in LA. It is crowed on weekends so get there early. They take your order as you enter before you are seated. on weekdays its less hectic and you actually get to sit down and look at the menu. But the food is great! very fresh and well prepared.

It's worth it!

By Sean F |

I had my doubts. This place is right by the LA Flower Market and in Skid Row. Homeless and tents all over the place. The old Cecil Hotel is visible from the parking lot. HOWEVER, this place is worth it. This was simply some of the best, most delicious and authentic southern food I have had outside of the Deep South. The staff are polite, attentive and friendly. The restrooms are clean. There really is a reason this place comes up as one of the best restaurants in LA. I would not hesitate to venture to the other side of the tracks to enjoy a meal at Poppy & Rose again. If you go, the biscuits and gravy with a side of grits.....to die for! Enjoy!!

Great latte's

By Damidoo |

Early morning sitting with a production crew waiting to film at the flower market across the street. This place is super cool. Kind of hipster and the staff is very nice. I had a vanilla latte and sausage egg breakfast sandwich. Both of which were great! Cute little place if you find yourself this deep downtown in the morning. Great place to grab amazing coffee on the run too. I'd come back for sure!!

Smoked salmon Benedict!

By Arielle S |

I ordered this because it looked appealing and my friend read a review about how great the smoked salmon Benedict is. Hands down an amazing breakfast. It was a party in my mouth, the homemade biscuit is the perfect touch! Highly recommended.

Busy brunch spot

By Terry L |

A nice gem lively atmosphere great brunch spot in the middle of the “mess” that is flower market and homeless central But the word is out and the wait reflects a good spot. Great cocktails, rose mojito, and southern twist. Food is good, service is good. Worth a visit for something different.
