Loved this fun, inviting, old school restaurant right in the middle of Seattle’s festive gay neighborhood, Capitol Hill. Very good service, tasty Mexican food (not Tex-Mex) and lots to see in the area.

We had a party of 8 so it was good that we had reservations. The place was packed with patrons when we arrived at 7 pm. We had great service for drinks and ordering of the meals. The food was great; I do not like spicy food so I was able to order the Yucatan chicken which is marinated but no spice associated with it. I thought the price ranges of what we paid for were about right - mid range pricing, though expensive entrees were also available to be ordered on the menu. The only drawback to this place is how noisy it is inside with the talking and echoing and clattering of dishes - a bit more noisy than a lot of other places. Some of this is due to how the ceilings and such are built. Overall you will have a good dining experience.

The Jalepeno Margaritas are so amazing. The nachos are delicious. The atmosphere is amazing with the fire. The service was great. It is a great location in Capitol Hill. It gets very busy on the weekends but worth the wait.

Poquitos is a crowd pleasing type of place. Fun setting, great ambiance, amazing cocktails - the La Fiona is incredible. Generous with the chips, delicious daily special guacamoles but, the best thing on the menu is the chopped salad. I add the steak to it and I would say it's the best salad in the whole city. That might not impress but trust me, one bite and you're hooked. We've gone out in groups where 75%+ of the table all order that salad.

The best part of this restaurant was the service and the atmosphere. I thought the food was good, somewhat unique--not the best mexican ive ever had. With that said, they treated us right and we had a good time.

sweet potato tacos were delish, terroir flight was surprisingly cheap, guacamole was delightfully fresh. Bonus points for having crickets as an appetizer

We went during taco happy hour and were pleasantly surprised by the pork, chicken, and steak tacos. We felt that the chicken and pork were the best. The criminal was delightful. We also tried the salsa trio and enjoy chip after chip.

I was visiting Seattle, and swung by this place for dinner with a co-worker. After circling the area looking for a parking spot for about 15 minutes, we finally relented and wound up paying $12 for a spot adjacent to the building. The ambiance is fine, nothing to write home about. Our server was nice and willing to answer all our questions. Since it was on the menu, we decided to be adventurous and have the grasshoppers as an appetizer. Yep, the grasshoppers. They had some chili-lime seasoning that wasn't great. It was potent, and pretty much all I tasted. I can't say that's a completely bad thing, as I'm not sure what the natural taste of a grasshopper is. Next, I had the chicken enchiladas and my coworker had the carnitas. Neither of us was impressed. The chicken had a heavy lime flavor and the carnitas didn't have much of any. Also, my enchiladas didn't look like any I ever had. It was one big enchilada with a bottom tortilla and maybe 3 stacked on top cooked inside a little iron skillet. I ate enough to stop being hungry, but if I ever went back, I would try something else.

We had the shrimp ceviche- not sure why it was called ceviche - lacked seasoning and the acidity you would expect from the fresh citrus in ceviche. Al pastor tacos were over cooked and greasy. Grilled fish tacos also lacked seasoning. The guacamole was fresh but also needed more seasoning. We actually had all the tacos and were not impressed. The service was great and the location is convenient. The food should be better.

We had a wonderful experience here. Our server was great with such enthusiasm for the food and drinks they offer. The food was very flavorful with not your normal Mexican taste. It was unique and wonderful. The building is also decorated very cool with a great feel.

Stopped in after exploring Broadway. There was a bartending completion going on in the atrium so we settled in at the bar. It was a bit chaotic with such a large crowd but we were patient and were finally served. After a couple of margaritas, it was all good.

Came here for guac and margs. Both were wonderful but the atmosphere and service were the highlights. Very neat light fixtures and cozy corner nooks.

We ate here after our granddaughters graduation from Seattle U. There were 13 of us so we made a reservation. The food and service was great. They really took good care of us. We will be back

I met my son and another law student for lunch at Poquitos. The food and service were amazing. We arrived at Noon and were finished with plenty of time for them to make a 1:00 class. I would return in a heartbeat.

Great sandwiches, sides, drinks, service, Mexican specialties…hard to go wrong with this Capitol Hill standby.

As a girl from Oklahoma, it’s hard to find a Mexican restaurant with queso that meets my standards here in Seattle. If you’re feeling my pain, look no further! It’s spicy, but oh so good. I haven’t had a bad meal overall here. The carne asada is delish, nachos, tacos - all sooo good. Service here is great too with some very friendly waitstaff.

Dropped in here by chance & was very impressed with the quality of food. Spicy without overwhelming the food, excellent menu. Fish tacos offer choice of grilled or fried fish, which were delicious. Ginger beer different, mild & refreshing. Outstanding service.

Poquitos, you have my heart. Your delicious Mexican food makes me swoon and your drinks are delectable. I would compare your scrumptious food with any traditional Mexican food from San Diego any day.

wow there are so many better options out there for mexican food. we went as a group of 6 on a Monday night-- not very busy. The waitress was completely aloof and her mind was elsewhere. First, she arrives with 3 menus for 6 people, then when i asked for more it was like the world ended. The worst part of our experience was the order in which our food came out. Entrees first (served cold) then drinks (20 minutes after ordered) then chips and salsa. The $9 guac we ordered with the chips/salsa they forgot about then served at the very end after we asked. The guac tasted like it was from a plastic package not made at the restaurant or with real avocado. The drinks you could hardly taste a trace of alcohol. Overall would not recommend, go across the street to Bimbos.

Loved the interior and ambiance. More like an English pub than Mexican, but it worked! I sat at the bar...the guacamole and chips were yummy, and their margaritas menu is loaded with different types. For dinner, I had the (V) Roasted Cauliflower tacos, which were EXCELLENT! Friendly and attentive staff

They have two different types of homemade sauce that are delicious! A mildly fruity habanero and a sweet mild red Chile sauce, wish we had one where I live!

Dropped in here by chance and was very impressed with the quality of food. We had chicken tacos and margaritos which were just excellent. Great atmosphere and outstanding service.

I really love the look of this bar it's very open with a really cool decor. Our server was great she was super sweet and adorable and gave us some tips on what to do while we were on our trip. We both had their on special drink which was something with watermelon but it wasn't great. I wish we had tried their food but we just stopped in for a drink.

Although I wouldn't call this place "authentic", it was seriously delicious! We had the queso with chorizo, carnitas, the torta sandwich and the veggie tostada with chorizo added. Wow! the corn tortillas brought to the table with the queso were soooo good. Light and hot, perfect. The torta was really delicious. They must make their own rolls which are huge, it's loaded with carnitas, black bean spread, avocado, pickled onion and cheese. Then it's cut in half and served with a delicious sauce...my mouth is watering just thinking of it. Drinks were great and ambiance is fun with lively chatter. Service was solid. We were there at 7:15pm on a Saturday and the bar tables were full. We got a table right away in the dining room. It got pretty full after that.

Truly a gem in the Seattle Food scene! We tried : 1.Guacamole ( excellent ) 2.Yam tacos ( again super - and pure vegetarian ) The Beans and rice with that came along were also fantastic. Bumped into some friends who were also travelling and realised its got quite the following ! Loved the experience!

If you’re from somewhere with good Mexican, or have ever tried good Tex-mex, don’t waste your time. The drinks and queso were good (besides the really small portions). Not our favorite to say the least.

Have eaten at Poquitos a few times now. In short, the food is always just fine - some things tasty, some things average. Some of my food has also not seemed hot enough when served. There are many Mexican restaurants in this area, and although the atmosphere is nice and they serve dinner until late, it's not my first choice (but also not my last). Quality of service has also been varied.

We've been here several times and it never disappoints. I recently took a group for a birthday and everyone loved it. Good food, friendly staff, always full of people having a good time. Their food is great, I love the tacos and tortilla soup. The salsa trio with chips has something for everyone and handmade guacamole is excellent. Cool variations in drinks makes it the perfect spot on Capital Hill.

My wife and I came in for dinner Friday night before we went dancing. We were told there would be a 15-20 minute wait, which we said wasn't a problem. We went to use the restrooms and then came back to wait to be seated. We were still the only people there, but within a few minutes other couples showed up. After a 15 minute wait, one of these other couples was taken to be seated ahead of us. My wife spoke up about how we had been standing there waiting in full view and got passed over for a table, and was told that "we left and walked off" even though they saw us come back just a few minutes later to stand and wait. We were then told that we could put our name back on the list, but that would have meant waiting even longer. We were less than happy with how we were treated and left to eat elsewhere.

It's been 3 years since I last ate here and Poquitos did not disappoint. The food was very good and the service very friendly and prompt! The back patio allowed us to people watch while dining and the music was hip and at the perfect volume. The experience was great:)

Stopped by during happy hour, and the place was very happy! Sincerely happy staff didn't mind that it was just me in a booth at the bar. Ordered a lime infused cheviche tostada from the happy hour menu and couldn't resist also ordering the empanadas. Almost cried, they were so good. Am taking my friends next time, cause I'm such a good friend.

This is in a lively neighborhood and the food was outstanding. I had the vegetarian nachos and my husband had enchiladas. We also both enjoyed margaritas. Last minute reservations were easy.

Yummy food and good margaritas! I still dream of the mezcalrita!! Our server was great too! He made great recommendations and was funny.

Coming from New Mexico and going to a Mexican restaurant you don't expect a lot. This was not the case with Poquitos, we were very surprised with what we had. The guacamole was delicious as well as our food. Can't argue with cold beer either.

Looking for a place to get a quick drink and light snack during our walking tour of Capitol hill. Poquitos Restaurant seem to fit the bill, as we crossed over the rainbow street crossing, at the intersection of 10th and Pike. For a Mexican cantina it’s kind of fancy, with all its lamps, iron work and coloured tiled walls. We were informed that the dining area was closed but we could visit the bar. Perfect, so we sat at the bar and indulged in drinking icy cold adult beverages and munching on crispy deep-fried tortillas and ceviche. The pint size Poquitos margarita was refreshing, as was the pint size, well bourbon and regular size house whisky. TIP: For the Adventurous diner, they serve a dish popular in the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca, called Chapulines, it is chile-lime toasted grasshoppers

Happy to report this place is fabulous! My first time there. I ordered the small guacamole and the flat bread with grilled steak. Topped it off with Flan. Everything was perfect. Right portion, great flavor, great service. Loved it!!!

Enjoyed a buffet dinner after a wedding rehearsal. Food and drinks were delicious. Service was timely and friendly. We will return when back in Seattle.

Poquitos has a terrific space inside the main restaurant and bar, as well as it's glasshouse dining room and bar - one of the best in Seattle. Their food is very good and consistent, especially the Tortilla soups.

Our family of four ate here for dinner and it was excellent. The food is from a specific region in Mexico and not the typical Mexican fare. We all enjoyed our meals and the service was outstanding. We will definitely revisit when we are in the area.

We went in for brunch, had a great meal and ended up staying all day watching the SeaHawks. Great staff and very good food, the covered patio area is very cool, lots of light and you can hear the rain.

Best Mexican that we had in Seattle, as we love Mexican so had tried quite a few places, but still wouldn't recommend. Food was ok but bit lacking in flavour and quite pricey for what it is

Authentic Mexican, deliciously fresh and well seasoned. Attractive decor. The waiter gave good recommendations about the map. My partner had the enchiladas and I had the street tacos with pork and pineapple. For dessert another delicious flan caramel. Recommended!

We sat in the bar area on a Sat afternoon and got in and out quick. Service was great, food delicious, recommend the purist margaritas!

I realize I'm the outlier here, but this was very common Mexican food. I got a sandwich and it was very mediocre. My companion got an enchilada and he had to douse it with beans and rice to make it palatable. Two thumbs down

Daughter and I were in the Capitol Hill neighborhood and decided on lunch. We saw Poquitos and decided to give them a try. We sat out in the back area of the restaurant which had all the windows open and was just what we wanted. We ordered Barbacoa tacos 🌮 and found them both very tasty and filling. They also came with black beans and Spanish rice. My daughter had a drink and I had H2O. I found the restaurant both relaxing and inviting. It was noisy to be sure as it was Saturday afternoon and most of the patrons were probably late 20s to early 30s. All in all we both had a great time and as I said I could have stayed another hour.

We always eat here when we visit Seattle. This takes Mexican food to a whole new level. The house Margaritas are great and the service is stellar!

Lovely ambiance and good service, but found the food and sauces to be unsophisticated and bland in their use of herbs and spices. Purist margaritas can be made with Mezcal which is a plus, but to Romanophile overly sweet. For better sauces go to Mezcaleria on Queen Anne Hill. Enchilada suizas with cheese were fine but again seemed bland. In retrospect, I should have asked for some Cholula sauce.

We had a quick lunch here and it was very good. We really enjoyed the decor - in particular the outside dining area. Drinks were unique and our food very good - more than basic Mexican food. Great place for lunch !!!

By far, our favorite Mexican food in Seattle is at Poquito's on Pike Street. The chips are awesome and the beer is icy cold. The food is awesome. I had the Yucatan Chicken, it takes 20 minutes, but worth the wait. The layering of flavors is awesome. It is a half chicken and it comes with black beans that are to die for. They are the best black beans I have ever had. The flavors are amazing. My husband had the Carne Asada. It takes 20 minutes, too. The Carne Asada comes with rice. Both are excellent & the meat melts in your mouth. Both of our meals came with homemade fresh tortillas. We did not notice the wait because with had chips and three different salsas to keep us busy. A must in Seattle if you are craving Mexican food. Service is good, too. Decor is awesome. Love the place!

Stopped in while in the area for Dinner with some friends. I'm not a huge fan of Mexican fare, so I was neither here nor there about the food itself. It came out hot, and tasted fresh. Our service was great, and I'd recommend this place to anyone who likes Mexican food more than I do!

I'm a frequent diner at Poquitos - the food is always good. One of my favorites is the appetizer chicken sopas. Their salad with mango is also very good. They have indoor dining and a large enclosed deck. The deck is bright and fun- it's my preferred seating area. If you want some great Mexican food in the interesting Capitol Hill neighborhood - Poquitos is the place!

I feel like every birthday dinner in Capitol Hill is either at Poquitos or Barrios. Though I’m never in love with this place, it’s miles about Barrios in many ways. I’d recommend others for better Mexican in Seattle, but a good option for the Hill. Food is slightly above average. I’ve had the enchiladas a million times, and found them ok. People have always raves about the salad, so I’d recommend based on their trusted advice. Drinks have always been good. Well poured, promptly served and spicy when asked :) Finally, I’ve always enjoyed service here. Staff are warm, welcoming and great at handling any group size or need.

Our family visited on a Thursday evening for dinner and were pleasantly surprised. Although the place was packed we had a reservation which really helped us and saved time. I think it is better to go on a weekday for dinner but you may want to check on this. Their food is authentic so visitors should always ask the waiter for specific items on the menu. The service was friendly and helpful. The portions were adequate and spicy. Always allow plenty of time because some of your orders take more time to prepare.

Our last night in Seattle...we let our daughter pick the restaurant. She chose Poquito's which was in walking distance from her apartment. We started off with full order of guacamole and endless chips. The guacamole was fantastic as was their offerings of a variety of salsas. We enjoyed the yam tacos, fish tacos and el pastor tacos. The flavor was great albeit the small portions. The place was lively for a Monday night and the service was friendly and efficient. We would go again if given the opportunity.

Had lunch here last week. I had the nachos. Very tasty. Service was great as was the ambiance. I’d definitely go back.

We searched reviews for Mexican and visited Poquitos. The restaurant is very nicely done. The food was really good. Loved the list of tequila, mescal, Sotol (never had before tequila family very good) and Raicilla (mexican moonshine). Loved the experience of tasting new things from Mexico. Chicarones with cheese very good. Would love to return to try other items on menu including the ceviche that we ordered but didn't make it to the table. Had to Ask for chips and salsa this is not a free item unlike restaurants in Ga Server was excellent and very attentive and knowledgable.

Just off of Broadway. Took a couple of business associates and shared some taco plates. All of which were great. And the service was spot on. Will try the entrees next time.

The food here is amazing - everything is fresh tasting and perfectly cooked. The servers are low-key and very helpful. The restaurant is in a beautiful brick building with huge windows (at one time part of the old REI store.). The decor is beautiful - dark wood and lots of tiles.

We met as a large group for dinner, and the service was excellent. Separate tabs, lots of different orders, all handled expertly and cheerfully. We even received extra beans and rice for the table. Too bad the food was just... Meh. Tacos way, way too salty (had the combo plate). Guac didn't really help matters, either. Salsas were OK. All in all, a mixed bag. They did handle our group very well, though, so full marks there.

We felt both our entrees were bland, they needed to be kicked up. The sangria was disappointing watered down with seltzer and lots of ice

Met some friends here for a casual dinner and was blown away by the food. The salsas and chips were plentiful and delicious , especially the spicy one. I had the roasted cauliflower plate with rice and beans. It had a squash purée that was on point and I really loved every bite. You won't be disappointed!

Very good food. Good service. Good prices. Nice choice in the middle of Capitol Hill on Pike east of Broadway. Beef tacos were good but the steak and eggs was a lot better. The churros and cajeta were not as Mexican as they should. Too hard the churros and the cajeta was more a caramel sauce than a dulce de leche.

What a great find! Awesome food and drinks, good vibes, cool place. Their roasted corn is a must and their yam tacos are delicious!

Shockingly this place is terrible. The michelada had a salt rimed glass with a splash of tomato juice. The Bloody Mary had a splash of tomato juice. The torta was flavorless but spicy. The water was room temperature with no ice. If you want more authentic and flavorful food I recommend Taco Bell as these guys could learn a thing or two from them and I think taco bell is garbage Mexican food. Also no free chips and salsa like 99.9% of the Mexican restaurants in the world. Skip this place unless you want a subpar meal.

A few friends and I ate in the bar. Our server/bartender was fabulous! She made awesome margaritas! I shared the grande tostada with my friend. It was massive. Could have fed like 4+ people! But it was oh.so.tasty!! All the flavors blended well and I loved the grilled corn. I just wish I lived closer because I would eat here everyday!

Great looking place, right in the heart of Capital Hill. Excellent food. Went for lunch, so can't comment on the adult beverages, but I sense that the place is hopping in the evenings and probably very popular.

Regular Mexican food, nothing great, service was good and server was very friendly. But the food was probably below average, not worth a special trip

Good chips and tomatillo salsa. The place looks like an awesome place to hold a get together with friends. I recommend the mixed taco plate and was surprised that I enjoyed the chicken and radishes was the best. Music is excellent. Happy hour, and late night happy hour make me...happy!

Seattle has many great restaurants so I'm unlikely to prioritize visiting this one again. It was an unusually cold day outside and the whole restaurant was freezing. When I asked the waitress about it and if there were warmer seats (I was with three men and all had to keep their jackets on), she snapped "nope! HERE ARE THE SPECIALS. Are you staying?!?" We did stay and while the food was just ok, the service was pretty awful, the ambiance was nothing special and the restaurant temperature was freezing. Maybe it would be better on a warm day? It's possible the waitress was just as cold and that was affecting her mood.

Food was below average. Quesadilla was terrible, meat was dry, and the whole dish was dry and tasteless. The happy hour tacos were okay. Overall did not enjoy the food at all. Very disappointed.

Just had some lunch here and it wasn't good.. The salsa trio is so salty. I ordered the taco plate and all the meat was dry. The only thing that was nice was the rice & beans ... Also the service was bad but probably because they don't hire enough servers. Wouldn't go back.

Came in for dinner. Nice staff and ambiance. I've had a lot of mole in my life. This mole just did not work me. I will try something else next time.

We celebrated a friend's 20th wedding anniversary here. Some highlights: 1. Great drink options. 2. Delicious appetizers including the guacamole, corn, etc. 3. Decent vegetarian options for main meal. We skipped dessert so can't comment on that. Kitchen had closed by the time we got to that part.

I've been to Poquitos a lot since coming to Seattle, and it doesn't ever truly fail in my opinion! For dinners, I really love to get some of the following: their salsas appetizer, the grilled corn, the chopped salad, and/or yam tacos. Coming here for drinks and snacks is also super fun! Coming from California, I love Mexican food, and I don't think you're going to find any really authentic food up in Seattle, but Poquitos is still fun and worth a visit!

Great veggie tacos, great server, amazing cocktails. Nice night so we sat on the patio. Will definitely be back :) Well done, Poquitos!

Food was fine, but Romanophile had hoped for more authentic Mexican food. For that go to D'La Santa --hands down more authentic and better. The noise level on a Friday night was too loud for good conversation. Service was decent and the Mezcal margarita was just okay -- another place where D'la Santa is much better.

The staff is friendly and unpretentious. I met friends before going to the theater. Our waiter was very helpful and kept on top of our table so we did not miss curtain call. But not pushy or intrusive, just the right amount of attention to keep us on schedule. But the food! Amazing. We shared several appetizers and everyone raved about them all. Popular place and can get busy. Allow enough time to really enjoy your meal. Preferably with friends. This is the place to relax, enjoy your meal and talk.

Poquitos is well put together. It looks great from the outside and the inside. The decor is very effective and makes you want to settle in for a good meal. The food has a great mix of Mexican favorites, the margaritas are wonderful and the staff is really friendly. It is in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, which has a great ambiance. Get a window seat - the street scene is fun.

Walked up the hill hungry, and down the hill satisfied. Excellent casual atmosphere, great service, good food. Definitely hit the spot for good Mexican food from a wide menu.

Great ambience for this restaurant, as its crowded and feels like a small club in itself, however the food can improve the quality a tad bit and will definitely stand out as one of the best or the best mexican restaurant in Seattle. Their drinks are definitely amazing and a great place to hang out with friends and family.

In the afternoon, while walking around Capitol Hill, this is a nice spot to take a break. Good selection of tequilas, the taquitos were delish and service was good.

Love this place. The tacos are amazing. Which ones? ALL OF THEM! We come here weekly. The staff rocks, decor is amazing, and they place great music. This is a great place for dates or just to hang with friends. Note: Parking in Cap Hill can be pretty stressful. We usually Uber as the cost is relatively cheap and is almost the same cost as paid parking.

good Mexican, great atmosphere, always full, service is great and the combination of the drinks with the food is the bext

We wandered in on a super busy Saturday night looking for some good food and atmosphere. Poquitos was happening and for good reason. They make from scratch their own drinks, ginger beer and horchata. Delicious. House made tortilla chips with a queso sauce also great. The queso is just a touch spicy. Plus they have two very spice house made sauces on the table. We ordered the three asada tacos plate and tortilla soup. Huge portions. Nice seasoning. My daughter thought their rice was some of the best Mexican rice she's had. Would highly recommend for large or small parties. Make a reservation if you have time to plan ahead. This place gets busy. Sit in the bar if all over 18 if you have to wait.

We have been to this place for Dinner. The Place was full as usual. The ambience was excellent with apt decoration for the Holidays. Their Food is great. We had Tacos and Cheese Enchiladas. Their Home Made Ginger Beer makes it perfect as a Non Alcoholic Drink. The Staff was friendly and we had good time.

During a recent visit I stopped here and was very pleasantly surprised with very good, authentic but creative food. The service out group had in the bar area was excellent. The Pacifico Micheladas was well made and yummy and the carnitas dinner was amazing. Large lively restaurant great for all occasions. Fun times for sure!

Great Mexican food at very good prices. The menu is very extensive and includes some dishes found only in Mexico City's restaurants, like fried corn. Highly recommend this place!

11 of us were looking for a place for dinner and decided to try out Poquitos because they had several large tables available. Food was terrific, especially the queso...bettter than any other queso you can find in Seattle! Highly recommend!

Had dinner here. Food is OK: not bad, not great. Server was very pleasant but knew nothing about the drink menu. Food appeared way too fast. I wouldn't go back.

I was looking forward to this spot and it delivered. Good spirits and delicious food. I had the Yucatan chicken and the Poquitos margarita. The drink was awesome but the chicken could have packed a little more flavor. Add in a flight of Mexican tequilas and you can imagine what kind of joyous experience Poquitos provided.

They have a great Selection on their Menu, but for some reason, it was Fish Taco's for 4 of us! We could choose grilled or battered .... served with black beans & rice; Three Mini's was a great portions!! Don't forget to try the 3 Salsa's & Chips !!

We visited with a couple of friends for dinner. This is not a gourmet place but a semi formal Mexican food restaurant. Sort of a TGIF. The menu is not sophisticated and it has the basics. The really nice part is that is it well located if you want to be in the strategic place on Capitol Hill. Great place to people watch. Just be careful the waitress is not pushy to get you to order and eat fast to they can turn the table fast. Our waitress gave us the check without asking for it, just before we finished our main courses and not even given us the chance to see if we wanted dessert or coffee. So if it happens, just sit on the check and ignored her.

Got in without a reservation. Food and margaritas were great. Quite busy but still service was good.

Been coming here for years and it never disappoints. The food is outstanding and the staff is always great. Love their Negra Modelo Micheladas. Great place to meet friends or have a business meeting.

My husband wanted authentic Mexican food and I have a very bland pallet. The waiter was very accommodating and his recommendations were perfect to suit both of us. Their dessert flan is to die for. Again, recommended by the waiter. A very nice fellow. We know now why the place is so busy. Quite reasonably priced too.

Warm and friendly staff. Nice decor. Vast range of mexican themed cocktails. Food is all excellent. Tacos and spiced corn particularly good.

I make sure I go here every time I am in Seattle. The solarium is fantastic, the food is good, service is friendly, and the happy hour menu is great. I suggest it to anyone and everyone!

I popped in here for a late lunch with a friend of mine and ended up staying until 9 just having beers and eating. I sat at the bar in the back room with the windows and it was very chill. Certainly this place picks up quite a bit during the evenings and I was there on a Friday. But happy hour menu goes until 6pm and the food is stellar. I ordered 5 different plates to share some off the happy hour menu some off the regular menu and everything I ordered was super good. Service was great I had two different bartenders helping me as there was a shift change at some point in the evening and both guys were super friendly and nice. I had been wanting to come here when I lived in Seattle but didn't make it so coming home for a visit was the perfect excuse to make sure I hit it and I was not disappointed.

Loved the seasoning on the chips and the green salsa. The chicken quesadillas were awesome. Great food with large portions. Service was good too! Overall a nice lunch.

One of my go to spots for lunch when I'm in Capital Hill. The foods tasty but the service can be spotty. This place has an great lunch menu with good portions and an awesome happy hour as well. Everything's good. It My fav. is the fish tacos and chicharrones which comes with an awesome cheese sauce.

As a solo diner this night, it was awesome to be welcome by the hostess and given a nice table. She was so nice. Kinda down hill from there. Oh, the margarita's are pretty darn good. As are the appetizers. I had the carne asada and it was fine a bit to hot. The real issue is that the service stunk. The waiter apparenlty was told to take care of my table. he took my order. didn't see him again until I was done eating. gave me my check. kind of took the buzz off a nice night to have lazy service.

I’ve been to Poquitos with my friends and I must say how impressed I was with the service!!! Even though it was full our server was taking amazing care of us and was replenishing water all the time and was also making sure that we have everything we need!! Food was delicious! I ordered cheese quesadillas and they were soo tasty ! Definitely recommending this place for dinner with friends :) Hope to come back soon !!

Good to spend time and have some mexican appetisers as guacamole and small tacos. Their specialty Margarita, - Poquitos - is SO tasty!

Hit this place around the corner from the Aveda Institute after spa treatments. Great atmosphere, patio and fabulous margaritas! Capital Hill is a super cute area, and this is the spot for a cocktails and chips and salsa.

This place is a lot of fun. Great atmosphere. Came highly recommended. Make sure you order the tequila guacamole. It comes flaming! The food was really good and the portions were fairly large. Lots of good things to choose from. The service was quick and efficient. The place was packed so you know it is good.

The food was good, but the service was terrible (many people stopped by, but no one took responsibility—we eventually had to ask the hostess to provide a check). The jalapeno cheese dip was so-so, while the enchiladas suizas and Yucatan chicken were very good.

I stepped in here to cool off with a margarita on a hot September afternoon. I was really impressed by the airy decor, and the bartender was attentive and friendly. My margarita was excellent, and the chips and guac I ordered came quickly but tasted fresh. Will definitely go back for a full meals.

Full Happy Hour is a lot of fun here. Delicious snacks, sensational cocktails and attentive service. Heaps of atmosphere in architecture, decor, lighting but most of all the vibe is of free and easy patrons.

Very reliable, solid Mexican food. Diverse offerings and a good bar. Food can be spicy and the drinks are strong.

Rachel suggested the prawns and the fish tacos. My wife and I split those two dishes and it was fantastic. The chipotle prawns were very spicy so be careful. The fish tacos were grilled though you could get them fried. It was very meaty fresh mahi mahi. I had a tequila Manhattan and man it was good. My wife had A jalapeño infused margarita. She loved it. The food was great. The service was great. I highly recommend this restaurant. Delicious.

This was a looooong time favorite spot, then we moved. Back in the city for a few days, Poquitos was first on the list. Sadly, the quality seems to have really slid. Both the Margaritas and the tacos were little better than okay. I wish they I had left it as a fond memory,

While traveling to Seattle a friend recommended this Mexican restaurant. We were delighted with our experience. We had wonderful service at noon and hot fresh food. Happy hour at this establishment is from11am-6pm on weekdays. We ordered from that menu. The 3 of us shared our meal and we ordered the Grilled Corn, Beef Empanadas, Brisket Taquitos, Roasted Yam Tacos, and Mini Sopas. The Beef Empanadas, Roasted Yam Tacos and Mini Sopas made our A list...while the Grilled Corn made the B list, and the Taquitos a C. I wish we had ordered the fish tacos as they looked amazing at the table next to us. We also shared the Salsa Trio and it was good too. The place was clean and comfortable, prices were reasonable.

Poquitos specializes in food with a Yucatán flavor and it is terrific. My husband had the giant torta with chicken, I had the chiliquiles with chorizo, and my son had fish tacos. Everything was fresh and homemade, especially the masa! Service was great, too. I would love to come for dinner sometime.

Went to Poquitos for dinner. Beautiful decor and great atmosphere. We had tacos and the Yacatan chicken both of which were delicious. My teenager however ordered the chicken mole enchilada. I'm sure it would have been great if you liked mole sauce. She learnt that she didn't!! The waitress was wonderful however and had it retuned to the kitchen and removed from our bill. We finished with the flan, molten chocolate cake and churros all of which were yum!!

We each had something different, very good: Homemade tortillas and guacamole, not the best margaritas. The down side of Seattle is the homeless and the smoking marijuana on every corner. This is not the fault of Poquitos restaurant and bar- that is just Seattle- not our favorite da out this city. Would recommend this restaurant p

The best Mexican restaurant I have ever been away from Mexico! All dishes were super flavored and not too spicy. The staff was very friendly and had great recommendations! The environment was pretty interesting with good music, but I missed maybe a touch of Latin music to set the mood. Overall very good and I’ll definitely be back!

This is a delightful Capitol Hill gathering place. A beautifully finished restaurant and very comfortable bar! Also, Spring through Fall, you can sit outside on nice days. One of us had the Huevos Rancheros, which showed up at the table as one of the most beautiful one place presentation I have every enjoyed. The rich red sauce filled the oval plate, serving as a backdrop for the white and bright yellow perfectly fried heuvos. The flavor matched the presentation, The second dish was their signature salad topped with optional grilled chicken, One also has the choice of grilled pork or fish. This was fresh, perfectly prepared and fully satisfying. Since we have to talk business, I cannot report on the bar offerings. Maybe next time!

Very noisy whether you eat inside or outside on e patio. Service very slow, and food was just average at best... Price did not reflect the quality of the food...

My friends and I went there for dinner. I ordered the Baja Fish Tacos, which were delicious and well- portioned. That being said, the service was horrible. We were greeted poorly and it seemed as if our waitress didn't want to be there. However, when she seated the couple next to us she did it with a smile and a great attitude. She also offered chips, salsa, and guacamole. We, however, weren't offered any. We looked at the other tables around us and noticed that they were also enjoying, what I assume was, free chips. We felt unwanted and couldn't think of any reason as to why the waitress only treated our table like that. Was it because we were a young crowd? Or was it because we were one of the few mixed race tables? I don't want to think that our treatment tonight was for that reason, but it's hard to ignore my personal experience.

Stopped in for dinner. Sat at the bar. Had some chips and salsa with cheese. Yum. For dinner I had the fish tacos. Really liked then and the service was great. The margarita's were tasty. Looks like a good place to meet up with friends. Also Gluten Friendly.

The drinks, food and service were excellent. The stone seats in the covered patio area are heated, a nice bonus on a cool afternoon!

Visited for birthday dinner on a Saturday night. Had an easy reservation; got a nice table, even tho it was crazy busy; quick drinks & ordering, then settled in with handmade guacamole. The 3 enchiladas were well made with authentic mole' sauce, others with verde sauce, and others had large tacos - all good. Conclusions from the 6 of us: it's authentic adult Mexican cuisine for American palates. Sweetness was not present, but complex tastes were everywhere - even the handmade, turned quacamole. Not KiddieMex . . . A very high quality stop. We'll be back for our next gathering . . .

Nice atmosphere, good service, prices teens to twenties. Open air restaurant. Nice appetizers, fair portion, highly suggest for dinner. Mexican.

Ok, let's get one thing straight: I am NOT going to order the Chapulines, not now, not next visit, and never. I am not paying good money to eat bugs. Now that's out of the way, I had an excellent meal here with superlative service at a reasonable price. I cannot praise the server enough as she was absolutely perfect, fast, and attentive. The quesadilla was absolutely exceptional with the only flaw being the mass of chipotle mayo spread all over it. Next time I will definitely tell them to hold that mayo, as it just buries the great taste of the overstuffed quesadilla and makes the whole dish feel overly fatty and heavy. However, the total star of the meal was the arroz and frijoles negros. I was scooping it up into my face in utter delight as it was about as close to perfect as you can get. And the best aspect of all: the whole thing was just $12! You would expect to spend at least 50% more in a really nice restaurant with this quality of food!

I went to Poquitos with a group from work. Our server was very helpful, most of the time, and extremely patient with our group. The house guacamole was fabulous, but I didn't care as much for the special that had apricots in it. I had the carnitas for dinner and had way too much food, but it was fantastic! I really enjoyed the Sayulita Punch, as well.

Me and my husband were walking through the busy streets in Capitol Hill and we gladly found this restaurant. This was a big surprise, the ambiance was very nice, good music, good staff, good wine, and amazing food! Everything we ordered was incredible! Even the simple things, had a special taste! Totally recommend!

Usually stop in for lunch and happy hour. Service can be shotty most days but the food is tasty and happy hour lasts all day! Everything on the menu is good. My favs are the chicharrones, tacos and the chips and guac.

I like this place and come here from time to time. Yesterday we went here for dinner. Ordered ceviche special, chicken enchiladas and prawns main dish. All were good but not mind blowing. Chips and side rice and beans are solid. I like vibe at the restaurant- it is very loud and up beat! The only downer was non-alcoholic ginger beer that was too acidic and sour. I wonder if they have tasted it.

Loved the choices - Yam tacos- doesn't sound like something you would love- you might be surprised- it was so delicious. Freshly made guacamole - superb.

I don’t know what happen, food is still ok, but drinks , OMG, I order mojito and it was really just ok, nothing special, and I would even say bellow good quality. And don’t let me stated on Long Island ice tea, don’t get me wrong, if I would be the only one who didn’t like the drink, there was 10 of us and at least half of us were not happy. When we try to talk to waiter and he brought us a bartender, and attitude came with it, telling that he put 2oz of alcohol. Hello, I know what color is Long Island ice tea and whatever he claim is Long Island ice tea is really Bad..... they should not be allowed to serve drinks like that and they sure did cheat on alcohol!!!!!! And waiter had an attitude when he did not pay attention, and he only brought one dish when. Y friend order two. And then he trying to argue with her. Did he ever hear customer always right. Apologies and walk away, but he is trying to argue, he need some manners. And no more free chips like in any Mexican restaurant . Never go back there

You know when you find a place that is not pretentious on any way and you just can't get enough? This is it. The food is great. The menu is diverse Mexican. The staff is knowledgeable and super friendly. They have these great fore pits under a covered patio for rainy days. The mezcal menu rocks and you can do flights of pechuga that will blow your mind. Chips, salsa and guac are so damn good. I would say it's a great place to hang with your friends for a hearty meal.

This is a very popular, slightly upscale Mexican restaurant in Capitol Hill. I enjoyed the yam tacos they could have done with more counterbalance to the intense yam flavour. The tamarindo, a tamarind flavoured margarita, was excellent. Lots of big groups were obviously enjoying themselves. A good choice if you are in the area and don’t crave sophistication.

This really was an exceptional meal. I went here with 6 other people and they did a great job serving our large group. The food was fantastic, their homemade margaritas were also amazing.

Sat at the Bar and had a late dinner. The bartendar was friendly and inviting and helped us choose the perfect meal. I had the Son of a Ditch margarita - cilantro infused with ginger, lime and bitters. So delicious I had two! Enchilada Suiza was served with black beans and rice and hot and delicious with just a slight heat. The atmopshere is warm and inviting and the architecture is beautiful. Will go back!

I usually can find something I like about a place but this didn't meet the mark. The two drinks we had were not at all flavorful. The chips and salsas were marginal - one of the sauces was okay but the other one was very sweet and the bowl of chips came from the bottom of the bag - just filled with small, broken pieces. The ceviche tostada was very very sour and no sizable seafood chunks. The black bean tostada was pretty good but the taquitos tasted very greasy - like they hadn't changed the oil in a long time. Plus there was very little meat inside. The guac was runny. I would not recommend this place at all.

delicious food and excellent service!!! Even tried the fried grasshoppers! 2 of us really enjoyed this new experience. Love the ambiance and decor.

Great space, huge, greeted warmly despite no reservation. Beautiful decor. Cool cocktails. Good chunky guacamole. Good but varying food quality (my mole was great). They forgot the chicken for my daughter's salad, and brought it ...eventually.

We arrived early, after a soccer match and before the dinner hour. It was "Taco Hour" or somesuch. A great variety of tacos with beef, chicken, pork, and veggie. Very tasty and served quickly. Nice atmosphere and great service by staff. Would be interesting to come later and see the whole menu. Based on our small sample it would be well worth it.

went there to meet some people after our initial choice was a 2 hr wait.. turns out i am glad we found this place. the food is very good. the service is very good and the price is reasonable. the guacamole was awesome and the chips are very good too

We couldn't even drink the margaritas. Food was not hot. Canned verde sauce. Food was tasteless. These folks don't know Mexican at all. They had 2 Mexican ladies making tortillas to make it seem authenic. The tortillas on my plate came from a supermarket.

The atmosphere is amazing. I felt like I was in old Mexico. Sat by the window and people watched. (Great area for that). The food was unbelievably good. The chicken nachos and pollo arsado tacos! Also, margs were great. We went for happy hour where everything was only $8!

We were staying at a nearby B&B in Seattle (11th Avenue Inn) and this was one of numerous restaurants in the area (which also houses the University) to choose from. It was busy and noisy, at around 7.00pm on a Thursday night, but we didn't have to wait very long for a corner window seat (only a few minutes). Our waiter, Dani, was attentive and as quick as he could be considering the place was chocker-block. The food was quick coming; the beer a bit slower. The food was delicious, and I even lashed out and ordered fried grasshoppers for $2.00! Although busy and noisy, the food won me over at Poquito's. And yes, I'd have the grasshoppers again!

We decide to have Mexican food and our Hotel concierge suggest this place.Nice ambiance, very good and interesting food, good service, good price,a pleasant evening we will be back for sure next trip to Seattle

We were in the neighbourhood and stumbled upon this restaurant, which appeared to be very popular. We started our dining experience with delicious margaritas: my husband had a tamarind margarita, which was too sweet for his liking, but he enjoyed the purist margarita. I had a lime margarita with citrus and triple sec. It was very good. For my entree, I had the chile verde, which was excellent. The pork was succulent and apparently cooked for 24 hours. My husband had the Grilled Summer Vegetable Cazuel that he really liked; it was flavourful and a nice option for his vegetarian diet. Both our dishes were served with black beans and rice cooked to perfection -- not overdone as in some restaurants. Our server was attentive and seemed really passionate about the food and his job, however; it irked me to discover that we payed for a large bowl of tortilla chips and later found out that my husband's dish came with a large bowl of chips -- I think the waiter should have mentioned this rather than charging us for first bowl. We certainly didn't need to eat the extra bowl of chips over and above our entrees. Overall, our food was spiced well, and it seemed authentic. The homemade corn tortillas were great too. But what ruined our experience was when a small mouse darted in front of my husband in a dining area adjacent to the kitchen. Another waitress saw it too. We told our server and commented on how unsettled we were to discover this after we'd just eaten an entire meal there. Yuk. Because of this, we will not return. Hopefully, they address the problem immediately. I will say, that the restaurant appeared very clean in every other regard, and were it not for my husband witnessing the rodent, we would have not had any indication there was an issue.

From the exceptional margaritas to the excellent service, our impromptu choice for dinner was the perfect cap to a great two days exploring Seattle for the first time. I enjoyed the fish tacos, which were large and had just the right amount of spice. My son had the beef carnitas, which he thoroughly appreciated. Prices were reasonable, staff were attentive and entertaining. We sat on the bar side, and were able to enjoy a great evening out.

Treated a young family member to dinner. Tacos, ceviche, and a beer. Service was great. Food could have been better. Taco chicken was a bit dry. Guac special with pineapple in it was flat. Ceviche was good. All in all, probably have had better. Would give it another try, however. Nice location. Venue nice. Comfortable, except like many places in SEAWA it is a bit much on a hot summer evening.

Love the Capital Hill area of Seattle and really wanted Mexican. Thought it had a good vibe and enjoyed the food and margaritas.

While the neon sign outside the restaurant states "Mexican Good", this restaurant features food from a particular region of Mexico, so if you are looking for the traditional burritos, etc, you won't find it here. But what you will find is a great menu with lots of choices, flavor and at a reasonable cost. The staff was very friendly and attentive; dinning room on the formal side but not too formal. The guacamole was prepared fresh and a full portion was more than enough for two couples. They had multiple recipes as you would expect, I stuck to the tried and true "original" and it was perfect - served tart as a good margarita should be - no sweet margaritas here!! Restaurant is located on the corner of 10th Ave and E Pike St in Capital district, easy to find. Parking may be an issue so find a garage and pay the parking fee to save some frustration. This is just one of many, many, many great restaurants in Seattle. As visitor and only here for 10 days I can't even begin to enjoy the many wonderful eateries in this great city.

Johnny the waiter set the tone and tenor of our meal at Poquitos by offering solid recommendations. The pepino Blanco marguerita was tasty and the cucumber taste was present but not overwhelming. The fish tacos and cheese enchiladas were delicious. Friendly staff and authentic Mexican food in Seattle a great combination.

Great selection of vegetarian options and good/authentic Mexican fare. Friendly staff and to die for ginger beer on tap.

Let's begin with the good points: the guacamole was nice. But we had to repeat our order several time to the waiteress, and yet she forgot 1 appetizer out of 2, and proposed it when we were eating the entree, which was at best insipide. the check was to expensive for such a mediocre meal.r

Been there twice in the first week of opening, really busy, staff knows the menu, on the first visit tried the Fried Potato Tacos and the Adobo Wings, ok but probably won't order again. Second time we had Asada Fries, (Mexican poutine) ,chicken tinga, shrimp cerviche, and the beef tacos. All were really good, big portions, tasty, hot, and good value. We'll go there again

This is a really nice place! We sat at the bar and they texted us when our table was ready. The food was good. We were a bit disappointed in the service. A bit slow, had to ask more than once for simple things: Water, coffee, the bill. In their defence it was busy and it was a wednesday. A good sign.

Pros: lively atmosphere, above average food ( favorites were carnitas and carne asada, also chicken tika? got a good and very good from our table, good house margarita, good chips and salsa but you pay for it. Cons: pricey and clothes get saturated with food smells.

Went at a bit past 10 since it says kitchen open until 11. Both the standard and "purist" margaritas were excellent - would come back just for that. With the two use we could sample the guac, the pulpo appetizer, pork belly tacos, and a smoked mushroom dish. Raves for the later; the other more than OK. A look at the rest of the menu tempts a return for entrees.

My husband and I were in town for a short time on our way to Victoria. It was on our agenda to visit Poquitos because my husband's uncle owned the original Poquitos! We were so excited to visit. The famous sign is of my husbands uncle and he would have been so tickled and proud to know the sign that bears his likeness is still being used in Seattle today! The atmosphere was fun, the staff friendly and the food delicious. We had a big salad, empenadas and the best guacamole. What a fun visit with great food. My husband was so excited to see the sign again, it has been over 40 years.

Service was just okay. Chicken Enchilada had way too much lime in it and I could not distinguish the chicken or sauce flavors. I would be willing to try this place again. I would only recommend this place to someone with hesitation.

The best thing about this place is the tile and the big lanterns inside. After you get over that, you start to notice the attitude from the staff, the oddly small proportions, and the not so gentle prices. This is far from authentic Mexican food, although they did a good job at getting authentic "tortilleras" (the ladies who make hand-tossed tortillas. Good place when you want to impress non-Mexicans and other people who know Mexican cuisine.

The food here was excellent as was the service. We actually went here twice. One night just for drinks where we set at the bar. The bar staff took great care of us, we never wanted for anything though they were very busy. We returned another night for dinner and again the service was excellent. The guacamole was simply divine. Also, very nice decor and fun atmosphere.

The restaurant is easy to spot in a corner in the Capitol District. It’s decor is gorgeous with a slightly old word flair. The weather was perfect and the restaurant had the windows all open so a nice breeze blew through the space. Both the hostess and our server were great. Friendly and attentive without being invasive. All of the food was fantastic, everyone in our group of 5 genuinely enjoyed everything they ordered. The night was a wonderful start to our vacation. I’d recommend the trio appetizer, it’s three bowls of dips (queso, salsa, and black bean) and chips. The queso is some of the best I’ve ever had.

Great Mexican food. Enchiladas and tacos were great. Chips and salsa were excellent. Great cocktails and draft beer selection.

I would never guess that the same people who run Rhein Haus also run Poquitos. One is a German beer hall. The other serves the best of every Mexican state. They're generally not afraid to be "out there" with their attempts. But let's emphasize "attempts" because Poquitos is not really a soul-based operation as much as a gourmet thought. It's very lovely and lively in here...be prepared to wait and hunt very hard for parking if you're not in the 'hood.

I love a good mexican place and this is another great one. My husband and I went for christmas eve dinner. It was busy but service was quick and the food was fresh and delicious. A pleasant surprise after a long day of travelling and a must try for everyone else.

We enjoyed margaritas and tacos during happy hour. The food was fabulous and atmosphere relaxing. Our server was excellent! Strong drinks and great tasting food!
Superb take on Nachos
We sat at the busy bar enjoying their excellent margaritas and we had some nachos and fish tacos. The nachos were loaded with beans cheese jalapeños and pico. It was too much for us. The tacos were excellent too. Great place.
