Great early breakfast

By alan c |

We came across the cafe and it was busy so went in and yes it was great. Good service and yummy food. Traditional breakfast well done. Coffee top up's good and location in middle of Haight Street.

super!

stylish cafe/restairant with fast and friendly service. had a great pork-chop lunch, vegetables and homemade bread

What a gem

By Angela P |

We planned to have breakfast at another cafe down the street but the chef there never showed up, so we came upon Pork Store as we moseyed on down the street. What a pleasant surprise. Very inexpensive for the amount of food you get (huge portions!), great service, our order was taken right away and we got our food very fast, great place for people watching, and the waitresses are very attractive. Great breakfast!

Great brunch

By Aine R |

It is what it is - unfancy, great tasting food, nice portions, very friendly service. Cool place, I'd definitely go back. Nice Bloody Marys.

THE breakfast place

By CatoUWS |

This was our favorite breakfast place during a recent one-week trip to SF. We stayed only blocks away and were glad to have had the Pork Store recommended for our first breakfast. We also chose to make it our parting-day breakfast. It's not pretty but, man, is the food gooooood! One of the "signature" dishes is the Eggs in a Tasty Nest. Hash browns, bacon (really, really good bacon -- they live up to the name Pork Store!), cheese, and a couple of eggs for good measure. Served with their fluffy wonderful home made biscuits. Awesome, awesome. Also had their "Georgia Ice Cream" -- mound of grits with two over-easy eggs. Side of sausage (*not* links). Again, "The Pork Store". Oh, yes -- and biscuits. Oh, the biscuits! Freshly made pancakes were huge, light and fluffy. Order the chocolate chip pancakes and the chips come inside the pancakes, and on top of the pancakes, AND as a "shell" on the mound of fresh whipped butter that comes along side the pancakes. The same for blueberry pancakes -- inside, on top, along side. And not a minor point -- the coffee is really good, really fresh, and totally endless. You will find people waiting outside. Everyone seems glad to wait. Once you've waited, you'll understand why. You might even get friendly with them. The service is remarkably friendly, to say nothing of amazingly efficient, given how crowded the place is. This is a find. If you're anywhere nearby, this is the place for breakfast (or lunch, which we didn't try but I would if we were there).

Awesome breakfast!

Charming spot with friendly regulars and a great menu for breakfast (that was the only meal I had there...) I wish I had gone back!

Pork Chops for Breakfast... I'm In!

By zvelivis |

Pork Chops for breakfast.... I'm in! My cousin sent me over to the Pork Store for breakfast. It was a great choice. The inside is very open with high ceilings. The front wall has some large windows and we picked a table their so we could watch everyone walk by. The hostess said we could pick our seats and I thought that was pretty cool. I'm not used to the Cali / West Coast laid back attitude. I wasn't a fan of their coffee but my pork chops and eggs were fantastic. My fiance ordered the Belgian waffle with yogurt, fruit and granola. The waffle was HUGE! The portion is enough for two people. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, price and quality of food here.

Breakfast done right

There was a wait to get in, but the waitress was great about moving people in and out. Some unique breakfast choices, along with the standards. All done very well.

Great Atmosphere, Hearty Food & Delicious Coffee

By Devontraveller |

On our 2nd day of a quick stopover in San Francisco, my husband and I spent the afternoon on Haight Street. As with the previous day, we looked on Trip Advisor for a recommendation for a brunch/lunch stop in the area and chose the famous (but unspoilt) Pork Store Café. It proved to be just the sort of locally popular, no fuss, no frills diner we love and we choose places like this as they give a much better feel for an area than fancy restaurants or characterless chains + they usually offer great value for money. The Pork Store Café was opened in 1916 by an Eastern European couple selling pork sausages. Latter years saw various changes but some of the sausage shop's original features (particularly the stained glass in the window, imported from Italy - you can just imagine how proud those original owners must have been of that) survived and now add to the great atmosphere of the Pork Store Café. As you would expect in Upper Haight Street, the Café is brilliant for people watching and there are many interesting characters inside. We decided to sit at the counter, which was a good move as that meant the very friendly, personable young man serving chatted to us every time he was working by "our" bit of the counter. We opted for corned beef hash, eggs, sourdough toast and added avocado. My husband had homemade hash browns with his and I had grits with butter and cheese. Oh my word, it may not be fancy food but it was excellent. Delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Pork Store Café and lingered over the excellent, bottomless coffee after finishing our meal. The food was great value & delicious, the kitchen spotless, the decor fun, the clientele interesting and the service attentive, & friendly and our every request was met cheerfully and promptly. I thoroughly recommend a visit to this gem of a café.

Delicious stop!

By tdaning0 |

Stopped in at lunchtime and ended up ordering breakfast. The place is small and a little cramped but worth it if you need to wait. Our food was hot, the gentleman who waited on us was attentive and my coffee cup was never empty. It was an affordable stop and everything that was being made looked delicious!

Great spot!

Read the reviews and decided to try - we were not disappointed! Got there just in time before the line formed. Huge portions - service and food was a 10!

Funky But Awesome !!!

By gweedore55 |

Been here several times, always the same very busy and you may have to stand in line for a while but when your seated the service and the food is awesome! big portions of tasty food, well worth the trip and the wait.....

Great Breakfast

By MLM718 |

The stores at Haight and Ashbury don't open very early, so this is a great place to have breakfast while waiting for the stores to open. It is a small place, so you may have to wait for a table, but it is worth the wait. They have a great variety of options to choose from.

Yum!!

By RSB_8 |

Great place for breakfast! Small and you just wait in line outside for a table, amazing variety of food- quick & cheap! From egg whites and veggies to specialty corned beef hash.

Yummy sausage gravy!

By Emilym80 |

I had the B&G, the sausage gravy was delicious. The place is small and the tables are very close to one another, and there was a line outside the place. The stained glass PorkStoreCafe window was pretty neat.

My kind of cafe

By SpacewomanK |

This quaint cafe is definitely my style. I got there early enough to avoid any crowds and landed a spot at the counter. The other patrons seemed like regulars (always a good sign) and the staff was attentive and kind. I enjoyed watching the chef--he had 4-5 orders going at any given time. Truly amazing. The food was delicious and I'd recommend this joint to anyone looking for an inexpensive brunch in San Fran.

Small but good

By Jon D |

Get there early or you will be waiting in line for a bit. Its a small place but the food if really good. They throw whatever you want into the pancake batter and then cook it into the pancake. Seriously i haven't had a bad meal here. Only issue is its small so big parties don't stand a chance lol

Good Breakfast

By Johanna |

Food was Good, we had a Breakfast Burrito and Pancakes With Fruits. Service could be a Bit better, our drinks took very long

American breakfast

By StephanieHerssens |

This little restaurant is known for his delicious breakfasts and indeed, we tried it and were not disappointed. Very nice and big American breakfast. Eggs, meat, fries, french toast ... perfect to start a big day at San Francisco. We got hungry only in the late afternoon. The waitress was in a hurry, and not very friendly. After a while it got less busy and she relaxed a bit.

Not too bad a brunch

By londonac2 |

Went here on the recommendation of the tour guide from bus. Portions are not too bad. We were all full.. there's a few reviews which mention unfriendly staff.. I don't think that was really the case, more like they tend to let you do your thing. It's definitely worth going if in the neighbourhood. A little small a venue, but service and food were quick.

I dream about this place

By carpediem34 |

The Pork Store is probably the best breakfast spot Ive ever been too. The service is always on point and the waitresses are so nice. I used to live in the Haight and this was always my go to spot for breakfast. I now live in Florida and miss it everyday.

reasonable excellence

By luke h |

Loved the service and all the food. Had the honey dipped fried chicken which was wonderful, tender, and crispy. The homemade biscuits were some of the best I have ever had. Tried family members dishes and everything tasted wonderful. For around $10 a person this place was also a steal.

Solid breakfast joint with local charm

By snoogle |

There's nothing really remarkable about this place, it's no different than any number of diners in cities all over America with all the usual suspects on the menu, eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, etc. It is a much beloved local institution though and the staff are really nice so if you want to soak up the local ambiance, this is a good place to try. It's also a great option if you are starving because the portions are huge, I recommend the Pork Store special which comes with two large seasoned pork chops, eggs, hashbrowns and toast, you can feed two people on that.

there's just something special about this place...

By SF_RoadWarrior |

Whether for breakfast, brunch or lunch, this place has some sort of magic - it's a combination of the ambiance, the Haight, the people, and the food. Always good- never a regret. Always more than satisfied. You cannot go wrong- worth the wait.

Delicious, classic breakfast diner

By AmesIA_travelers |

This restaurant was recommended to us by friends who regularly visit San Francisco, and it definitely lived up to their rave reviews. Due to a pressed schedule, we had to get our breakfast to go, but it was fun to feel the energy and vibe in the packed one-room restaurant while waiting for our breakfast to be cooked, which only took a few minutes. We got the chicken apple sausages with scrambled eggs, hash browns, and fabulous biscuits. It was all delicious! The staff were friendly and efficient. The prices were reasonable. I would recommend it as a must when visiting the Haight-Ashbury district. Make sure to check out the old stained-glass sign above the front door.

Great Breakfast Place

By Craig G |

I always enjoy a full (non-fast food) breakfast when I travel for pleasure and do not like the usual chain places. This was one of my favorites. I had their pork chop and egg special. My wife had the Biscuits and Gravy. All delicious! Portions are huge - so go in hungry!! Pork Chops were prepared perfectly for my tastes (medium), biscuits are homemade (yummy) and the hash browns and gravy were awesome Service was spot on. We definitely will go back there next time we are in that part of town.

Five star breakfast & atmosphere

By Jes S |

I'm not even going to write a review. Just go there. It's amazing. Breakfast was amazing, the history behind the name of the cafe is amazing (if those walls could talk and tell us about what has gone on over the years!), the service was great, watching the two chefs make breakfast and hold a conversation is impressive.... You will not be disappointed!

Great place and big plates!

By Tara |

We are visiting from NY and were looking for a place to eat. So glad we randomly chose this when we typed “breakfast near me”. The food was delicious and the plates were huge. If you are looking for a great place this place is a must!

Definitely a local spot

By Ashley R |

The food was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend had the 2 eggs in a tasty nest and I kept eating his food! The French toast was amazing.

Greasy spoon breakfast

By Kristy H |

The place is small, however, the staff is very friendly and super fast. We got our orders less than 10 minutes after ordering, good good, great prices-under 10 bucks. Old place, has a ton of history which I love. We are breakfast waiting for the shops to open on haight street. Definitely worth it!

The BEST Breakfast

By FERNANDEZ O |

Pork Store Cafe offer American comfort food (including regional choices) for breakfast & lunch in a tiny, no-frills space. This place is a hidden gem. It's cramped but worth the small space. Atmosphere is warm and inviting and feels like a busy diner. We love the food and it was great price for a great amount of food. In True American fashion the portions were big. Taste of the food met my expectations of this whole in the wall. Ordered pork chops and eggs, it was all done right satiated my tastebuds and my company also had nothing but good things to say about this place.

Love Haight Relationship

By SharksPep |

Had to wait about ten minutes to get a breakfast table on a Friday morning, but it was worth the wait. The place has maybe a total of 12 tables and a dining counter, so the seating is limited. The hearty breakfasts are reasonable priced and served quickly. Would definitely go back.

Dirty greasy goodness

By Makenzystoy |

Great food! And a really cool place. My wife and I ate a spectacular breakfast and coffee. I had the deluxe huevos ranchero it's a most have.

Perfect!

By Vivivavavoom |

Large portions of extremely yummy food. The huavenas rancheros were very tasty and corned beef hash special was superb! Young lady serving told us we could go next door to get proper soy lattes as they only had a coffee pot. Top place!

Great Food!

By brassyg |

We stopped by after a recommendation from a local store clerk. We were thrilled we chose this restaurant! We came in for lunch on a Sunday. We were just checking out the Haight-Ashbury area. It was probably 130, so a bit past the lunch rush, but this place seems to pack them in all hours, because they have breakfast til close, and this caters to brunchers, breakfasters, and lunchers. We decided to order lunch. My husband ordered the Philly Cheese Steak, and I got the California Garden Burger. They were both out of this world tasty. My veggie burger came with a huge side salad....no wimpy side salad here. We really lucked out with this place! Be careful if you want to see this place, they close at 330, as I said they really cater to the early morning, and lunch people...so make sure you plan your stop to Haight around this, it is so worth it!

Greasy breakfast/brunch

By Thor H |

The best hangover breakfast. A true diner, with huge dishes. Great service, great food. Recommend the enchiladas.

Best breakfast in town!

By Lourenço C |

Non pretencious warm place for breakfast, brunch, lunch... Wide choice of organic typicals and originals. Kitchen at sight, nice service, good coffee... the hippie atmosphere of the neighbourhood is respected. I'll be back!! :0)

Amazing "diner" on Haight St.

By Michael W |

The wait was worth it. Pretty small diner like restaurant on Haight St. Came here for breakfast with 5 friends. The food was amazing. Make sure you get the Eggs in a tasty nest. It is one of their famous plates and I am happy I got it.

great place for breakfast....love their biscuits. it can get pretty crowded sometimes.

Used to be a Sure Thing : (

By David S |

We've been going to this place for years, though often to the one on 16th Street. Prior to our last visit, neither place has ever let us down. But the last time we visited in the Haight, we received a Nadia's Scramble that was virtually inedible because of the sheer amount of SALT in the vegetable mixture. The sausage gravy was so full of white pepper, black pepper and salt, that it, too, was just inedible! To her credit, the waitress took our comments very seriously, brought us a veggie gravy instead (also salty and over-spiced) and took one of our dishes off the bill. She I will say was great, so kudos for service. But there's a problem there, and I hope they fix it soon, so we can return to enjoy the classic flavors and big portions we'd come to love.

Great and tasty breakfast

By Sen Loong W |

The Pork Store Cafe is a great place for a a delicious breakfast. The menu offers a great variety of food. We were spoiled for choice. My wife and I both ordered something different and shared with each other. On top of that, we have a bowl of biscuits with gravy. The food were simple amazing. We went in hungry and left very happy. If you want to experience a good American breakfast, The Pork Store is the place to be.

Very good Breakfast

By danieljchapin |

I went there for breakfast on a Wednesday morning alone and there was no wait, the food was good and the service was alright. The waitress was a little disinterested, but I did not find it to be a big deal. If you are on Haight st and need breakfast it's good option.

Funky fun cafe

By BambersMom |

Went here for breakfast. Wonderful varied choices for something a bit different. Large portions, good service and a fun area to revisit!

Good food, limited seating.

By mindctrl |

Had the chicken fried steak with grits and biscuits. It was very good. I was quite impressed to find southern food in California done so well. We arrived here between breakfast and lunch so there were some empty seats but the line soon backed up as people waited to come in. Definitely a nice little place to eat. Come between normal eating hours to get a quick seat.

Huge portion!

By Adeline P |

The food are all in huge portion so its worth te price . If you are not a heavy eater , please share :) pork store special , pier 49 and bbq pork tenderloin sandwich are good! The pork chop is better with gravy or bbq sauce if not its less tasty .

This is exactly what I want in a breakfast

By axelbohlin |

We were recommended by a local and we were not disappointed! Large portions, good coffee, friendly staff and amazing taste. I had the "Egg in a tasty net" two days in a row. It was delicious and kept me full almost the whole day. My bother had the huevos ranchos the first day an the tasty net the other day. So we can't speak for other dishes but these were great.

Yummy!

By Janies70 |

What is not good about this place? We loved the food the staff and the service. Its a small little place but well worth the cramped feeling. Our food was served fast and hot and a big portion! The price was great as well.

Great Food Gnarly Utensils

By MommaRexx |

Delicious food but they should invest some of their cash profits into glassware, utensils, and chairs. It was a turnoff and the chipped plastic glasses are probably a health code violation! However, the open grill area was clean and the chow was great, so we got over it.

The Best Breakfast Ever!

By Nick M |

If you like enormous portions, great pricing, and delicious food then look no further. This restaurant has all of that and more. The bacon just melts in your mouth here. Very hip scene as well (in Haight). My buddies took us here who go to SF State and now I'm in love. Really cool pig art on the walls as well. I most certainly will be comming back soon. See you in March Pork Store!

Peace out

By DrMinestrone |

The summer of '67 may be long gone, but some of the atmosphere (and hippies) still remain. And although the cafe (as is) has only been open since '79, it still has that vibe and ambience. We ordered pancakes (as recommended by a store on Haight St.) which were pretty good and the service was warm and friendly. Then, for some reason that may or may not have been down to us, the service became somewhat less friendly when we went to pay, almost rude. Why I don't know. This sadly stripped the four-star review to a three, the pancakes suddenly not tasting quite as good. A restaurant/cafe is not just about the food, which is a shame.

Tasty and not expensive

By orlytModi_in |

We stopped for lunch and it was very good. The bbq hamburger was very good, and the pork shops with salad were nice, but a bit dry. Good service. Clean. A bit smokey inside.

Big and tasty breakfast

By WyeKing |

Waited for a table for about 5 minutes and got a seat at the counter which was a good experience because u get to see the speed of the cooks and the servers moving around and also see them making all that awesome breakfast. it's one the of the best breakfast I've ever had and I had pork chops along with my eggs and hash and they were all yummy.. I can't really understand how eggs can be that good but they are... would love to come back if I'm ever in San Francisco.

LOVE this place!

By Donald J R |

Yes it's the Haight, and yes it's funky, but that's the Haight. Get over it!. The place serves great food, and lots of it . I had Nadia's vegetarian scramble, and it was delicious. It came with hash browns, and you have a choice of their biscuits, which are made fresh each morning. They are fabulous and not to be missed. The service is always great, and as I said the atmosphere is funky. So if you want linens and crystal, don't go here. However, if you want great food, and lots of it, and to be full when you leave. This is the place for you. I have been going here for over 30 years, and I will continue coning here until they close, which I hope doesn't happen in my lifetime.

Great food, fabulous setting, wonderful service. Go!

By Lisa |

This was one of the our best experiences in San Francisco. Good location for exploring Haight Ashbury in an usual and cool setting. Broad menu with delicious food. Teenagers all had the "small" stack of pancakes with various toppings which they couldn't finish. We both had amazing meat free breakfasts that were so delicious, huge portions, amazing biscuits. They only serve filter coffee but they were happy for us to go next door and get cappuccinos/lattes etc to bring into the cafe. Best of all were the amazing staff - so kind, friendly and helpful. I really recommend a visit to this small, quirky neighbourhood cafe. A definite highlight of our trip.

Unpretentious, Delicious, Economic & Campy

By PR |

This place was a fantastic surprise. It's in the center of the Haight but has remained unassuming and unpretentious, and delivers great food at reasonable prices. As a vegetarian the name of the place made me wary, but they have vegetarian options. I really enjoyed the veggie hash and hash-browns, and the biscuit was amazing. The meal included a side of snark from the waitress -- when I asked her if they served chai, she simply said, "That's hilarious." One look around and I understood her reply -- the place is down-home and simple in all the best ways. I highly recommend.

Your Food Made Before Your Eyes

By SUBZEROSKIDD10 |

I was checking out Haight-Ashbury with a friend and wanted a place for brunch before checking out Golden Gate Park. We found the Pork Store Cafe based on its online reviews and thought we'd check it out. There was a line of locals waiting out on the street on a late Saturday morning, a good indicator of the quality of the food. The Pork Store Special (two pork chops, two eggs, hash browns, and a biscuit) was good. I've had plently of pork chops in my day, and these weren't bad, but not spectacular either. On the other hand, my friend said the huevo rancheros were some of the best he's ever had. This place must have stock in the company that supplies their hash browns because each order gets nearly a plate full of them. If you sit at the bar you can literally see your food being made right before your eyes as the line cooks crack and scramble eggs, sling hash, and grill sausages. If you're looking for a good breakfast with hearty portions, check out the Pork Store Cafe.

Hole in the wall awesomeness

By burdnurd14 |

The food here was excellent!! It was very difficult to decide what to order, as everything looked amazing! We would definitely eat here again when in town.

Breakfast the way it should be

By Aroundth |

Most breakfast places offer the same basic fare....some do it well some not. The latter group is well represented by the Pinecrest in the Tenderloin district. The pork store is in in the former category. Simply put my SO and I had the best breakfasts we've eaten. My corned beef hash and her huevo rancheros were the best of each. The cooks were a symphony on the flattop and grills. They worked together harmoniously on the same orders. It was magic to watch and they produce the goods in prime style. This is most definitely NOT a greasy spoon. It is a beat up, run down hole (s) in the wall doing breakfast better than anyone. Good coffee too. Value is excellent. One tip...sit at the counter to watch the cooks.

Some of the best breakfast I've ever had.

By Kipp7272 |

This spot is a hole in the wall with a lot of charm. The food is cooked right in front of you and tastes so fresh. The hash browns where crispy and you could taste the freshness of every ingredient, especially the tomates in the salsa.

Took good care of me and my 17mo old

By bigslow59 |

Was exploring Haight Ashbury with my strollered toddler. With lunch suddenly upon us, I desperately needed a place for both of us to have an 11a weekday lunch. Happened across the Pork Store having read no reviews and enjoyed our experience. Shared a tasty turkey club with the child and the wait staff was patient with my need to stow the stroller and the occasional banging of silverware on the table. Guess it helped we came during a quieter, less busy time. Either way, great sandwich and service for a weekday lunch!

Great food but no mimosas

By Brittany Noelle |

If you’re looking for a diner style breakfast, this is the place! They have French toast, pancakes, scrambles, eggs Benedict, delicious hash-browns, and biscuits. Pretty much all of the classic breakfast dishes are here and well prepared. The only negatives are that the place is really small and they don’t serve mimosas (or any alcohol)

another veggie friendly...

By Getaway55225 |

another veggie friendly place to go...(if youre willing to wait in line)

Little greasy, portions...

By Megan G |

Little greasy, portions are too big and the waitresses have a holy than thou attitude, but it's oh so comforting!

Biscuits!!!!!

By eternalsunshine07 |

Classic small diner. I ordered the veggie biscuits and gravy and hash browns. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak. The biscuits are perfect. Seriously. The gravy was different but still good. You can sit and watch them cook your food. The only disappointment was the lack of alcohol. Mimosas are mandatory on vacation

Run away as fast as u can!

By Catalinahoyos |

I think these guys have good friends with enough time to tell lies about this place. We were walking up n down haight st and were glad to see in trip advisor there was supposed to be a good fast food restaurant in the nearby. When we arrived, there were a couple of customers leaving the place and I saw the waitress realizing they had forgotten the camera but... She did nothing! We had to go for them while she was not caring.... The food was dreadful... And when I tried to upgrade my horrible fries with a little bit of mustard... It was off!!! The same girl gave us more mustard... It was also off!!! The place is dirty, the bathroom is a pig farm... The name of the place could not been more appropriate. This is a pure pork (pig) store! Faithfully yours, Catalina Hoyos from Colombia

Corned beef hash is great!

By John W |

The waitress had recommended this dish and I was impressed. It was flavorful and filling. It came with 2 eggs on top, double sided crispy hash browns, and biscuits. Definitely come by to try this dish out to be left completely full.

Great start for the day

By Joma71 |

Quirky with great atmosphere, good food and generous portions. What more could you ask for when getting your day started? Up and friendly vibe, all the morning classics served in very generous portions to set you up for the rest of the day. Highly recommended

I Enjoy It.

By KnickerbockerJones |

I have been to this establishment before many times but this is the first time I felt to leave a review. The server that took my order was lovely. I am assuming she is the child of immigrants based on her cut off sweatshirt. She was lovely. The reason for a 4 star review and overall 3 for the food was that my pork chops were not that amazing. They have never been and that is why I have taken so long to write this review. As a tip go early. There are less people.

Best Breakfast of the Trip

By geralyn h |

Saturday morning at about 9:30am, the place was hopping. Two of us had a short wait to sit at the counter (which I recommend; it's fun to watch the cooks create all the dishes!). The food was fantastic: we had the western omelette and the "49er", two eggs over easy, grits (yum!), biscuits and sausage gravy. Our coffee was filled constantly. It's a lively spot with a lot of locals. Great start to a day of sight-seeing.

Cool atmosphere with decent food!!

By TheRealGidge |

Touring the Haight before a bike ride & this place was open early and had a hearty breakfast. The service was average at best, but the place was busy!! Had the Scralifornia & fresh fruit...YUMMY!! Lots of food so took leftovers to a homeless man...not hard to find in this area!

Oh so good food with HUGH portions

By niceguynsf2016 |

Have not been here in a long time. The Food is so so good! The biscuits are lighter then air!! SERIOUSLY!!! I lived in the south and this place has the best biscuits since I moved here. The Portions are HUGH and just damn good comfort food. While everyone is really professional at what they do, Amanada is so professional and warm and friendly all at the same time. If you seat at the counter its like watching a ballet the way everyone works together cooking in a space smaller then my kitchen.

Love the Scralifornia !!!

Always stop for breakfast

By Chuck C |

My family and I love this little breakfast café. The waitress was prompt and very very friendly. We visited on a weekday so it wasn't crowded at all. It's very small but the food is excellent and the portions are large. Great value for breakfast on one of the most interesting streets in America!!

Low expectations not met

By sfimporter |

Ow give lived in the area for over 39 years but had never been here. It’s the kind of place that is crazy busy on the weekends - open for breakfast and lunch Mitch a diner type atmosphere. The wait staff was super friendly and welcoming and U immediately thought - what a gem this place is going to be. I was served up some hot coffee and decided to go with the western omelette. I was at the counter and saw the cook churning out orders. The shredded hash browns were crispy but my omelette was cooked within an inch of its life - brown all over with some too large chunks of onion and peppers. Unfortunately, it was all very bland and dry. Perhaps I should have said yes when the waitress asked if I wanted cheese in the omelette? The next time I’m up for a diner fix I think I’ll head in the other direction from my home and head to Orphan Andy’s in the Castro.

great breakfast, worth the wait.

By SboomFW |

we went here on a sunday morning for breakfast. we had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated, but it was well worth the wait. this was the best breakfast that we had on our entire n. cali trip. When returning to s.f., we will be returning to the pork store! it's a really neat restaurant with a great vibe. great coffee, great food, great place. go see what all the hype is about.

Can't recommend it enough.

By kumaja |

We went there because of all the positive reviews and they are sooo right. This cafe is really great. I had the Pork Store Special and it was delicious. Service was great, too.

For the perfect start in the morning

By Caro |

A very tiny and cosy place - single room concept. The food was simply delicious. The waitress was very relaxed and friendly. The walk to the restaurant led us through the beautiful Haight-Ashbury quarter where there are a lot of hippies.

Great breakfast on Haight

By SJRudolf |

We went to this restaurant for breakfast before we went biking across the Golden Gate Bridge. They have a very good selection of breakfast items, the omelettes were really good as well as their fried hash browns and warm bisquits. Kind of an old school diner with bar stools in front of the grill. The bathroom could use a good cleaning, but other than that I would recommend this place for a good breakfast or lunch!

Loved it, went twice

We just loved the Pork Store. We had breakfast there on a cold morning in December and it was soo good. We ended up going back for another breakfast at the end of our trip so that we could try some more things on the menu. They were amazing too. The breakfast quesedilla was great, as was the corned beef hash. Huge portions. Great value.

Great breakfast!

By lockieam |

This was on our list of places to eat in SF & it was well worth it. We got to the restaurant around 9 & had about 10 minute wait. It was a chilly morning & I felt silly standing by the restaurant window cold, looking in at all the people eating. All I wanted was to be warm & get some of the food that looked so delicious. I am not a big fan of breakfast, so i wasn't looking forward to trying to find something that my boyfriend & I could share that would make both of us happy. It happened though. We got the Pork Store Special with gravy added to the biscuits, a side of bacon & grits. Again, not being a breakfast fan, I wasn't too excited. I don't like eggs & I don't get pork chops for breakfast. At best I was hoping to eat bacon, hash browns & grits. Everything was delicious. The chops were cooked perfectly & were seasoned just right. The hash browns were just the way I like them...mainly crispy. The bacon was amazing. I haven't had biscuits & gravy in forever & these were delicious & reminded me of my grandmas. I liked that they kept bringing coffee when you were just about out, but not one minute before. They are quick & friendly. There is plenty of shopping & sight seeing to do around the restaurant so it makes for a nice morning.

Hidden gem

A hidden gem in the city. The food was great but also a great price. We ordered the patty melt, hamburger and lunch steak. Everything was cooked great and the service was we received was great. I would definitely frequent this place if I lived in the city.

By Lucy W |

This is a gem of a cafe! Wonderful service, amazing food and a great atmosphere! We had an omelette with avo and eggs in a tasty nest, both served with biscuits. All fresh and cooked in front of you! Sat at the counter all very authentic and so welcoming with lovely wait staff. Don’t go anywhere else if you’re in the area!

Disappointing

By LeannaW2 |

Would not recommend this place. Extremely unfriendly staff. Food is average - large portions, though. And there is no interior.. One of the worst experiences in San Francisco mostly because of the staff.

A very good place to have breakfast in Haight Ashbury

By marc b |

The food is good, the waitresses are very nice, and one could speak a fluent French, which was also very nice. The prices are reasonable. After a heavy breakfast (tex mex omelette + hash browns + toast) you only need a light veg salad for lunch, that you can also have there.

AMAZING Breakfast

By SweetSunshine7 |

My boyfriend and I recently visited San Francisco and were staying in the Haight-Ashbury area. We passed by the Pork Store Cafe and saw the long line, and figured this place must be good if there is a wait on a Friday morning. Pork Store Cafe did not disappoint, and I think we had the best breakfast we have ever had. I had the Pesto Scramble and my boyfriend had the Southwest Scramble, and we both loved our meals. The scramble came with hash browns and their delicious homemade biscuits. Pork Store Cafe serves large delicious portions of reasonably-priced food quickly. We had leftover breakfast for two additional meals. Sitting at the bar is a great way to watch the "show" of your breakfast being prepared. They have quite the operation!

Best philly steak sandwich ever

By Jippoes G |

This place looks like a run down old store but it hides a gem of a cafe with amazing service and the best short order cooking I have ever witnessed. I had the philly steak sandwich with fries which was amazing. Fries were actually hand cut and cooked fresh.

Unforgettable

By Riccardo |

Delicious food in this cozy environment. A blast in the past with all the vintage memorabilia accompanies steak, eegs, hashbrowns and other delicious food

Great food, worth the wait

By Stephanie B |

We had to queue to get into this pace on a Saturday morning but the food was fantastic- well worth the wait. This is not a fancy brunch establishment but an authentic short order café.

Love this place

By Donald J R |

Good food, huge portions, good vibe. I enjoy everything I've had the pleasure to eat. I've been going here for over 30 years, and it's been consistently good. Totally worth a visit.

Fantastic Meal

By pierzyna |

Oh em gee. This place was so yummy. I had a salad and a Reuben sandwich. Their ranch dressing was probably the best I've ever had, along with the actual salad. The sandwich was also fantastic. If you're in the area, you have to go here for lunch!!!

A Haight Ashbury gem...

By Michael2810 |

My wife and I were exploring this interesting area when we came across the Pork Store. The place was bustling with a dozen or so people waiting outside. We went in to ask about the wait and were immediately seated. Apparently the people outside were waiting for take out so don't be put off. See if you can sit at the counter so you can watch the cooks in action - the speed at which they move is awesome. The food is tasty & honest, the price good and the staff friendly. We'd make this our local cafe if we lived in the area.

Unsanitary cooks, worst experience ever!!!

By Donald J R |

i usually love this place, however on my last trip there (October 2016), I was appalled by the unsanitary kitchen staff. There was raw chicken defrosting in a sink (which was overflowing) next to where they washed the dishes. They two line cooks would grab raw pork and then also grab raw vegetables with the same hands. Not once did they wash their hands. They also used dirty towels to wipe out the frying pans, repeatedly. They also used a pair of tongs to flip the raw meat, and then put it on a dirty surface, and continued to use it throughout my visit. I'm never eating there again. I suggest that you don't either.

Unappetizing food

By tijuanade |

We had lunch here, and I think they're more known for their breakfasts. The food was unappetizing, even though the portions were very large. I had a salad with grilled chicken, which was tough and tasteless. Lots of it, though. My partner had a chicken sandwich, also large, but with dry, tough meat. I would not go back, except maybe to try their breakfasts.

Such a wonderful breakfast experience

By Shelby W |

Today I finally got a chance to try this restaurant and I was not disappointed. The atmosphere of the place just instantly relaxes you when you walk in. It has such a comfy feel to it. My server Halle was just super friendly and instantly made me feel like I was at my mother's home for breakfast. Well of course I couldn't decide what exactly I wanted to try, so with the help of Halle, I chose the Eggs Benedict. The food and it was simply mouth watering. The English muffin was toasted just right and the ham was just the right thickness. The eggs were perfectly cooked and the sauce was so smooth and creamy. I was in love with this breakfast. This is definitely a must see and eat restaurant if you are in San Francisco.

WOW...just WOW!!

By Larnie86 |

This isn't the sort of place what I would normally go into however we were staying with friends and they took us here for breakfast. I was SO happy that we did, it was the best breakfast I think I've ever had. We sat at the bar and watched the food being cooked, I think these are the best seats as you have prime view and get regular (free) coffee top ups. The coffee is good as well. I ordered a short stack of banana and walnut blueberries which consisted of 2 HUGE pancakes for fruit cooked in it as well as on top. These were honestly the best American pancakes i've had. There was lots of choice of toppings to choose form. My husband had a Mexican breakfast with bacon, onions tomatoes cooked with garlic and served with hashbrowns and eggs however you order them. This was equally delicious and huge. This is definitely a must go breakfast location!!

You had me at pork

By DragonwMatches |

As a Midwest guy, my first morning in SF had me up waaaayyyyy too early, but that meant that I had time for a good breakfast. I had read up on area spots and loved the idea of Pork Store Cafe's griddle hash browns. They had spots at the diner bar open so I went with it. It's old school like that-salt, pepper & hot sauce at each setting. I was already coursing with coffee so I got OJ and a sausage scramble that came with the famous hash browns. The sausage was a bay-area made sausage that didn't thrill me, but was decent. But it was a very generous serving, and the browns were crispy perfect. This place is not fancy, but the food is really good and a good value.

Worth the Wait!

By TravelLeigh10 |

Excellent breakfast place. I actually got my scrambled eggs well done like I asked. Rarely do they come out browned enough for me. The waffles are crispy and the pork sausage patty is delectable. The portions are huge and the staff is friendly. It's a small place and gets crowded easily but we only waited about 15 minutes on a Sunday morning.

Great Breakfast place

Cheap, tasty and a good selection. Fast service and an extremely nice waitress.

Best biscuits ever! Huge portions and all was delicious. Great staff and reasonable prices. Definitely a great value. Do not pass up the biscuits-fluffy, buttery, yummyliciousness all around.

Quick, good.

By Crikaya |

Small and clean place with friendly counter service. Had the 49'er w sausage gravy - SO much food and pretty tasty I almost hurt myself trying to finish it. My friends' French toast was crispy on the outside, doughy on the inside...yum. Bacon was so so, good quality, just not cooked right - maybe rushed.

If you're going to san francisco...

By Carlotta88N |

...try this place! :-) Is a very tipical store cafè in SF! I love it! The position is great because is in the part of the city that in the '60s was central for hippies and now you can feel the same atmosphere!!!

Hearty Breakfast

By Valheart |

Small restaurant, nothing fancy, but a great local place to get breakfast or brunch. They are busy, had a 15 minute wait, but the good breakfast omelet made it worth it. The chicken apple sausage is delicious. Nice variety of breakfast and some lunch choices on menu.

Best lunch

By njboxer |

This was our best lunch in San Francisco. The portions are huge. The food is delicious and fresh. The turkey in my sandwich was fresh cut not turkey roll. The biscuits are amazing

Great food and service, in an old style diner

By markKTM |

The friendly young waitresses were just great. We had to wait a bit and they brought out small cups of coffee for those of us standing outside - a very nice touch. We sat at the counter which was a highlight - the cooks really put on a great show. The food was superb, served in portions that explain why so many of us Americans look like we do! I had Nadia's Veg Scramble which was terrific. It was a great breakfast experience at this place - well worth the short wait and sitting at the counter. Loved it all - thanks!

love this place to bits!

By IskraIskra |

a super cute, small, friendly diner. huge portions. amazing breakfast. a real great way to start the day!

Lovely breakfast

By Jive Turkey |

Fancied a trip to Haight Ashbury and thought that this place looked nice. It was. I don't usually eat breakfast but I ordered the vegetarian scramble and it was delicious. It was a very generous portion, too. The waitress was absolutely lovely. It is quite a hidden gem, to be honest. One thing I think should be improved, however, is to get the door to be able to shut on its' own. It does not close properly so we were forever having to get up and shut it so that we didn't get cold.

Great food poor work conditions for employees

By marthaquad60 |

The food was great and the service but the smoke was bad. I'm considering contacting the health and safety department. All that smoke can't be good for staff or patrons. They really need better fan and ventilation system.

Everything made fresh

By Bryan G |

We waited about ten minutes for a specific table (our choice), and right after we were seated a massive crowd queued up outside, so the place is popular. The food was very good -- biscuits made hot and fresh. I had a Scralifornia, but made some major modifications so that it didn't resemble the original. Wife had the Tasty Nest that she enjoyed but it was a bit over seasoned for my tastes (the waitress pointed out it was generously seasoned before we placed the order). The decor isn't swank, and you're elbow to elbow with other tables, but in all this was a nice local experience that I'd recommend to others.

Fun area to visit ! Food is good

By Teresa B |

Decent food A bit pricey (over $50 for for 4lunches and we only drink water) but it really was a a fun place to stop if you are checking out the Haight ! Lots of fun characters to observe. It's a people watcher's paradise!

What a breakfast!!!

By Irish Eyes |

You often have to wait for a table...this is always a good sign! It is totally worth the time on the interesting sidewalk watching the world go by (and remember, you're in The Haight, so the world is a lot more colourful than in most of the US!) The food is outstanding and the portions huge. You will probably have enough for lunch left over! If you're with a few people, consider ordering 3 meals for 4 and you'll still have leftovers! It's not a beautiful place, but that's not what it's about! Just great food and reasonable prices (if you consider it breakfast and lunch!)

amazing ambience and experience, okay food

By KapilKansal |

I went to Pork Store cafe for a breakfast with my wife last Saturday. This is situated on the rustic haight street, so the location itself is a big plus. Inside the ambience is very old worldly, and luckily we got a seat at the counter. It was nice to be sitting right next to the kitchen and see all the action, all the items being cooked right in front of us. We ordered a vegetarian omelette with hash browns and the biscuit, pancake and bacon. The food was good, not great though.

That French Toast!

By Daniel_Canada |

We kinda stumbled on The Pork Store. We found ourselves on Haight after a visit to Amoeba up the street and The Pork Store looked like a likely spot for a yummers breakfast. The breakfast menu looked delicious from top to bottom but I opted for French toast with fresh fruit and a glance of grapefruit juice. We had a seat at the bar so could watch our food getting prepared. The French toast itself was looking delicious but then can a mountain of freshly cut strawberries, bananas, and blueberries topped with whipped cream and a large bottle of maple syrup on the side. Seriously, the strawberries were some of the biggest. Freshest, ripest strawberries I’ve ever had, the French toast was bang on, bananas perfectly ripe, firm, not over sweet. I almost felt like I had to roll out after this breakfast, it was so good and I couldn’t stop eating it. The grapefruit juice was the perfect compliment All in all, I loved this place, it was easily the best breakfast I had in San Francisco, and I would happily recommend it to anyone as a start to a day of exploring Haight-Ashbury.

Massive breakfast

By Chris B |

If you need something to eat that will most likely carry you through til evening then look no further. I sat at the counter at about 9am and was served quickly. The other customers seem to mainly be locals and workmen. My coffee arrived quickly and was topped up before my food arrived. The food was the Pork Store Special of two pork chops, two eggs, hash, toast. It was mountainous and delicious. I'm still full now. Not overly expensive, especially considering how much you get for your money.

Great, old school breakfast

By David F |

Loved, loved, loved this place. So cool and old school. Love the open kitchen and the whole crazy vibe of the place. This is seriously good. Huge portions, great hash browns and a great menu. Real pleasure to watch them cook too. We waited a bit outside for a table and they brought us coffee to keep us happy. It worked. I was happy! Check out this video I made of the place. http://youtu.be/pMyr9s7VPgk

Haight Ashbury Diner

By Byron R |

Walked by and this place was packed. Walked by again and still packed so we figured that was a good sign and we popped in. Good decision. We got seats at the counter, all tables full. Our server was very friendly. Food was tasty and for such a small place staff utilized the space very well and worked together. We’ll be back and you should give it a try. Straight forward diner food.

Great breakfast, good service, disgusting bathroom

By AnnArborMichigan |

My husband enjoyed the "birds in a tasty nest" breakfast that comes as a large portion of food. I had the delicious chicken sausage breakfast with nicely crunchy hash browns. Service was excellent; they kept the good coffee coming! Oddly enough, we were disappointed that they were out of toast and substituted a biscuit which was not special at all. We also appreciated that they had a selection of four hot sauces. Finally, the bathroom: Sorry, I've seen gas stations with cleaner facilities. They need to clean it daily and supply soap. Really unfortunate, given the quality of everything else.

Great breakfast "dive".

By rschmitt73 |

Small diner/cafe in the heart of Haight-Ashbury area. Counter seats and some small tables jammed into a small storefront. We were there on a Monday morning and it was full. The server asked us to wait outside while we waited for a table to get up because there isn't enough room to wait inside. It didn't take long. He cleared and re-set the table right away and we crammed ourselves into the chairs around the table by the front window. My chair back was up against the table behind me and the other dining with me had their chair backs up against the front window down ledge. Very tight. That was the bad, now for the good: the coffee was fresh and brewed very well. The menu has interesting selections for breakfast. I chose a chorizo and eggs dish that was greasy and delicious... And I mean that in the best sort of way...chorizo, salsa, onions served under a pair of very well prepared over easy eggs. Served with hash browns and sourdough toast. Very good! The other diners I was with enjoyed their meals equally as well. The service was efficient, and he was quite friendly and as engaging as he could be while being that busy. Overall experience was good. The cramped space just seemed to add to the experience, especially given the fact we were dining on Haight street! As far as pricing, the 3 of us had breakfast and 1 coffee and the bill came to $47. I'll let you decide whether that sounds high or not.

Great breakfast and atmosphere

By ShellL |

We had a delicious breakfast at the Pork Store Cafe. I was a little worried since I don't eat meat, but the name of the place only connotes its history. The food was excellent and we enjoyed being in the now more upscale Haight Ashbury. A very nice experience. But yes, the bathroom is funky.

Wonderful Breakfast

By maybayjay |

We stopped at the Pork Store Cafe while in the Haight-Ashbury district our last morning in SF. The breakfast was amazing & the best meal we had during our entire trip. Our server was perfect--never hovering but kept our coffee cups filled, very pleasant to talk with, and we left feeling like we made a friend. The food was delicious, there was plenty of it, and it was the perfect way to start the day. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious & inexpensive meal.

Great all-American classics

Fast efficient service. Large portions of VERY tasty scratch-made fresh food. Very cheap. Worth a detour for breakfast brunch or lunch if you are in SF.

Excellent Breakfast Spot

By scsherie |

This is one of the best breakfast spots I have ever been to. The portions are huge. The food is hot and fresh. There is a wide variety on the menu. They have fresh biscuits and gravy, enormous omelettes, grits, pancakes, vegan dishesh, vegetarian dishes, you name it. This is definitely our favorite breakfast spot in SF. The service and prices are great.

Loved it!

By James |

Great, good food with friendly service! We sat at the counter so our food was cooked in front of us by the best multi-tasking chef I've seen! Well worth visiting for breakfast/lunch and a wander around the surrounding streets.

If you love a great Hollandaise Sauce, go here!

By Lisa60653 |

It's a small restaurant but they get you in and out quickly. We had a party of 8 so chose to split up rather than wait to be together. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The Green Benedict was awesome. Asparagus, Avocado, Eggs, Sourdough and Sauce...MMMMMMM!

Delicious food, kind waitstaff

By tcornell0913 |

A few friends and I came in for breakfast and the experience was great. We were helped by several nice and attentive waitresses; our cups were never empty and they made sure the food was cooked right. The food was delicious and cooked and seasoned well. I would definitely come back.

A great disappointment

By E K |

We went to this place for Sunday Brunch because it was recommended on the San Francisco visitor site. It was a great disappointment. Although the service was adequate, the food was very ordinary and the place was dirty. I had eggs benedict and the hollandaise was the oddest shade of orange. There has to be a dozen better places for breakfast.

With a name like PorkStore....

By mark w |

Great breakfast. The line can get long on the weekends but it is worth it. The biscuits and gravy are the best. Good wait staff. Funky vibe as you are on Haight.

Traditional diner in Haight

By Kaye-OakFamily |

Small, popular very authentic diner offering a great selection of usual suspects. We enjoyed various scrambles & French toast. All very tasty and fresh. Our waiter was brilliant, catering for a request for warm milk with my wife’s coffee, which initially flummoxed him as they don’t have an espresso machine, but then he brought out a metal tray filled with hot water and a small jug of milk much to the amusement/bemusement from his colleagues - sorted! Nothing fancy, but authentic - recommend.

Unbelievably Delicious!

By jcatty |

Spent a week in San Francisco with my wife and mother-in-law and we all agreed this was the best meal we had the entire week. The Eggs Benedict were out-of-this-world, and the corned beef hash to die for. Of course the ever-cooking hash browns were perfectly cooked. Certainly not for those on a diet, restricting fat or sodium intake, or watching their cholesterol - but what do you expect from a place call the "Pork Store Cafe"? Service was friendly and efficient. We went about 10:30 on a weekday and were seated immediately, but it is small and was getting full by the time we left. Great comfort food.

I'm still full!

By padavis2 |

My son and I ate at the Pork Store Cafe on a Sunday morning on the way to Mass at St. Ignatius and to walk around USF. It is a hole-in-the-wall (seats about 20) but a fantastic eating experience. He had pancakes and i had their egg/hash platter - and they were both HUGE. If you can eat, for $20 you will walk out full - guaranteed. We got there about 10:15 AM and had to wait 5 minutes....when we left there was a line of 10+ outside. If I am back in San Fran, I am going back for sure. The neighborhood around it is a bit sketchy, but no one stirring in AM. Also, a long walk from BART stations, so I would suggest taking a cab.

Pork Palace Fun Experience

By S C |

We decided to spend the day in the Haight Ashbury district of SF and started the day out at the Pork Palace. There was a line waiting to get in and even that was fun. The waitress and other patrons were pleasant. Everyone in our group ordered something different (5) of us, and we all had a wonderful breakfast. It was all around a fun experience, great service and wonderful food. I hope to go back here again on my next visit.

Huge, delicious breakfast plates!

By Christian377 |

This place is great! I tried the eggs in a tasty nest, and it was so good! Plus it ended up being breakfast and lunch- the portions are substantial! It's fun to sit at the bar and watch the short order cooks crank out breakfast's on the griddle. This place is not for calorie counting, but it's well worth it! Give them a try!

Great Little Diner!

By Sharon C |

This was a fantastic place to grab a bite while visiting San Francisco. Lots of vegetarian options, as one in our group required. We sat at the counter for our lunch. I enjoyed my cheesy tuna melt and fries. Friendly wait staff & good prices!

Best breakfast in SF

By AUStoWORLD |

The Pork Store was recommended by a friend of mine and was very close to my hotel. Wow! It's a diner with all the great diner features. The chef is a freaking machine. He worked over a flat grill in an open kitchen so you can sit at the bar, as I did, and watch the man work. I had a reasonable healthy breakfast of poached eggs, grilled asparagus and hollandaise on toast with those amazing hash browns. I love the fact that all the condiments are right there at your fingertips, in typical diner fashion, unlike here in Australia where you get nothing unless you ask for it.The Americano coffee is not bad either. I love this place and could not stop raving about it when I got home. It's was one of the standout places of my whole trip to the States.

Busy place Sunday morning. The breakfasts were prepared in front of those of us lucky enough to be at the counter. Real people cooking real food. The hash browns were delicious as were the pancakes and eggs. Everyone was friendly. Service was very good.

What a great breakfast experience!

From the warm welcome to great food and the suggestion that we give any of our left-overs to the street people outside, this was a memorable SF experience. Good fun in a real breakfast restaurant, served by real people who were doing their jobs well. WE want to go back!

Worth the trip out.

By Dancoonerty |

We loved the style of this cafe. It has an old school set up and we were worried the food would suffer. The food was perfect. We ordered the Detroit omelette and chorizo scramble. So good. They were happy to leave off the sides to make it low carb which was perfect for us. They also had a low carb special as well. The service was excellent. Quick and easy. Would definitely recommend.

Good, solid breakfast!

By Bob W |

This is a good place for a hearty breakfast. The kind you’d find in the Midwest. We had French toast and the pork store special. Two pork chops for breakfast?? Way too much food at a cheap price. Highly recommend a stop here if you’re in the neighborhood.

Classic Hole in the wall in the Haight

By butchpSt_PaulMn |

This was my 2nd visit to this small breakfast diner in the heart of Haight Ashbury. It's a must stop for all you ageing hippies who return or visit to see where it all began,(at least in part) It's very small with limited seating and it fills up quickly. It's all overseen under the masterful watch of Amanda who somehow manages to take orders and deliver them all the while keeping tabs on the wants and needs of her customers. The food is classic, more than generous and expertly prepared by her griddle man. Everything is prepared before your very eyes. Every time that a plate came up, I wanted to eat it. I had eggs, bacon, pancakes and hashbrowns. Many times when yiou order that much food you have to worry about it getting cold before you have time to eat it. Not the case here. It was so hot that I actually had to let it cool before I coiuld eat it. If your a local, I probably don't have to tell you what you already know.. If your a tourist coming to visit this historic neighborhood, I would tell you this. Forsake that overpriced generic hotel breakfast and stop in here to get breakfast the way it's supposed to be at a reasonable price. I did take some pics but they are no better than those provided by other reviewers so I didn't bother to post them,

Go early and enjoy a perfect breakfast.

By happy4travel |

Our family of four arrived at 9:00 am for breakfast and were seated without a wait. This place just smells of wonderful, savory breakfast foods! The cafe soon filled up but it never felt packed as it's large and well furnished. Everything we ordered was delicious. Large servings of steak and eggs, fresh blueberry pancakes, corned beef hash and the best, crispiest hash browns ever! Good strong coffee and fresh juices, too. We'll definitely return to the Pork Store!

Great comfort food

By arises |

We did a family take out breakfast, since we know it gets crowded, but wanted to taste the food. It was really good comfort food, lots of it and good in the old fashioned way. Definitely not for those on a diet! It was great for us to splurge on food like this once in a while! And the owners are fantastic!

We went here after spending a few hrs in Haight Ashbury and it was great! It was fast and they had good food options here. We got the salad and the steak and they were both really good. Would recommend if you’re in the area.

Eggs In a Blanket: MMMMMM

This is deffinitely their signature dish and it tastes fantastic, and a huge amount of food. You will not leave this place hungry. I also tried the low carb meal, it was good, but no eggs in a blanket!!

Solid

By rncnsurfer |

Pork Store Cafe is a brunch place to keep in your memory wherever your travels take you. I have gone several times- with vegetarians, die-hard meat lovers....it doesn't matter. The gravy is done right, hearty and savory. The biscuits are memorably warm and flaky, just the right amount of buttery flavor. This is not a place to enjoy right before your morning work-out routine, but its reputation is based on its quality and charm. A must try for the bay area, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting. Don't resist the urge to indulge while exploring all that Haight Street has to offer. Small and intimate, with portions uncharacteristic of the bay area makes this place a whole package.

You'd Haight to miss this gem!

By curtiejoe |

On our walk through fabled Haight-Ashbury to Golden Gate Park we stopped in for breakfast. The interior looked just like it must have in the hayday of the hippies: colorful, funky, and down-to-earth. The open-kitchen layout with a long counter and round stools in a row harked back to those heady days. Being able to see the cook making our food was "outta-sight!" Breakfast fare was way-out delicious, wait staff (one young woman) friendly and efficient, the other patrons, an eclectic mix of locals and tourists. Another crazy experience was walking up-stairs to use the tiny restroom done up in black and white checkered fllor tiles and walls plastered with stickers depicting hippie- era memorabilia! The Pork Store Cafe is definitely a groovy place to experience for its real cool decor that takes you back to a long-gone era when Scott Mackenzie's hit song told people who were going to San Francisco to "be sure to wear a flower in your hair". Today, its main attraction is the great breakfast dishes it serves to all who do find their way to this unique place.

As good as the reviews said it would be!

By Bear004 |

We went here as the wife wanted to do some shopping in haight-ashbury. I however wanted to stuff my face. As soon as we entered a lovely waitress seated us and took our drinks orders. I got coffee which she consistently refilled at the perfect time which I always thought was meant to happen in the States but didn't experience anywhere else. I ordered the 'eggs in a nest' which was 2 fried eggs on top of loads of hash brown and peppers, tomatoes, chopped bacon etc. I also ordered a side if ham (I didn't realise the hash had bacon in it and couldn't handle the idea of no meat for breakfast!). In hindsight I didn't need it and it was the least tasty part. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the hash was great. My wife had the 'green benedict' which had poached eggs, potato hash, avocado and hollandaise. She loved it too. Top marks all round!!

Tasty Breakfast

It is a good place to have a tasty breakfast. Good fast service. Easy to find on the Haight street .

Stopped in for an awesome lunch while exploring Haight-Ashbury. Despite the name, there were awesome vegetarian and vegan options. The biscuits were killer as well. We had no trouble getting a table on a weekday around noon, but I can see how this place gets packed on the weekends.

After walking the neighborhood, I was a little skeptical about eating anyway, but this seemed to have locals. Great breakfast (we had it for lunch). A little bit of a squeeze for groups.

We walked to Haight Ashbury district and found ourselves starving and standing right in front of the Pork Store Cafe. Pork chops with eggs and spinach for breakfast? Yup and it was delicious. Two thin chop perfectly browned, seasoned and tender and add to this tender home baked biscuits. Great service too! We will be back!

Delicious worth the wait

We waited about 20 mins to get into the Pork Stork Cafe and it was totally worth it. Cosy little establishment with a diner style feel to it. We sat at the bar and its so nice to see the hustle and bustle of the food being made while you sip your coffee. The food was so tasty and portion sizes are great! I had the blueberry pancake short stack and my girlfriend had an egg white omelette with a bunch of fillings. Will definitely go back when we return to San Francisco

My kids loved it so much they asked to go there the next day! Great breakfast, great neighborhood. The shops will open just in time after you finish your breadfast.

Delicious, homey, wonderful staff!

Stopped in for lunch with my two teen sons before heading to GG Park. If you love an old school diner with delicious food and friendly staff then this is it. Loved seeing locals eating there. Also, came back later in the day and need a restroom and they were kind enough to let us use it as so many places require you purchase something.

I ate here a few times on my recent first visit to SF. Nice view of the Haight and great for a local experience. I had my last meal there before I left the city. Will definitely return.

This place is an SF icon. It's been here for decades, and continues to serve great tasting foot for reAlly good prices. I know 'cause I've been coming here since 1980. Each time I visit The City, this place is a Must for me.
