We stopped here for a brief lunch and we each ordered the three piece halibut fish and chips. We were served some very large well cooked and tasty pieces of halibut and some very tasty fries. Also served with the meal was some tasty tarter sauce but the fish really didn't need anything to add to their great flavor. We have noticed that during the summer people sitting at picnic tables just outside the window that you place the meal order at but were told that during the present weather (cold) that there is seating inside the fish market area itself.

The restaurant is just a few blocks east of Reed College. It sells fish and chips with fries, and has both beer and hard cider on tap. We had the fried oysters, the honeycrisp cider, and the IPA, and ate at picnic tables on the sidewalk outside. Everything was terrific. We went back and had the same lunch the following day.

They only serve fish and chips, and it is the best without driving to the coast. This is a fish market that has a side window that only sells prepared fish and chips; halibut or cod the day we were there. Seating is outside only on a quiet side street, so not so good on cold or wet days. The only reason, and a good one, to eat there is the fish and chips. Ordering is at the window, pick your order at the window, be seated street side on very nice and clean wood tables. Enjoy your meal. Although not quite a tourist destination, the Woodstock neighborhood is similar to Chestnut street in the Marina in San Francisco, but with a slower pace, more free parking, and lower prices. Lots to see and many dining choices.

We ordered our lunch from the outside window. The fish and chips and lingcod and chips were very good! We tried some of their smoked salmon that was excellent! If you are in the area, you should drop by and try their fish.

You order at a window around the corner and then you can sit outside at picnic tables but since it was raining we ate inside the fish store. There are about 4 small tables inside. They bring out your order when it is ready. Very fresh and hot. Absolutely delicious. I tried the fried halibut and husband had cod. The batter is GLUTEN-FREE which is a definite plus for me. And it was crispy and not soggy or dense as some gluten free batters can be. Definitely worth a try. There is free parking in back or on the street.

Got Halibut and Chips here and was really enjoyed it. Head outside in back to the take out window and sit in the sun at the pic nic tables. "Level" beers on tap - fries were super duper good - fish was fresh and breading was good too. Would have liked just a bit more tartar sauce. Prices are not "cheap" but quality was good. Friendly staff at window.

The fish market sells great fish within the store, but the real secret is the fish they sling out the side window! I've eaten English Style fish & chips many times and all over the country, but this place serves the absolute best I've ever had---bar none. The fish batter, covering halibut or cod, is not thick and greasy, but light and crispy! That's the way folks in the NW like it! They prepare your fish as you order so it may take a few minutes to cook--usually 15 minutes at least. Because the window is becoming famous in this quaint neighborhood, sometimes longer. There is a small menu for other items, but no clam chowder as of yet. They also have beer by the bottle, but only a small selection. I gave the window 4 stars vs 5 because of this. No IPA?? Directly across the street is Double Mountain Brewery if you're really thirsty!

Terrible service. Got there at 5:40PM. Had 4 people in front and was told it would take 20 minutes. At 6:00 I saw the 4 people in front, and 1 person in back, get their food. Asked when my order would be ready. He said that I had several orders in front of me and would be another 15 minutes??? Saw several people come and go with their orders. Finally got my order at 6:30. The guy was even rude and said "Oh #3 finally got their order". Have been going here many years but not anymore. Will also tell this story to friends and neighbors. Hopefully I can get some people who will never patronize this establishment again!
Great fish & chips
This is a take-away window on the side/back of the fish market. Great fish & chips and best on a nice day to eat at the outdoor tables. Fish and chips is one of those things you need to eat right away.
