Was at a Conference around the corner and was just looking for a place to eat. Ran across this place. The soup was hot and fresh. The lady offered for us to try anything. We ordered White Bean soup and Mac n Cheese. Both came with cornbread. Everything was great. I got a Turkey wrap although they are more of a pita sandwich but I loved it. If I was from the Portland area I would definitely eat here often. Thank you for a wonderful, filling lunch!

The lemon chicken rice soup was out of this world and chili was too. Old fashioned corn bread accompanied it as well and was great. Ian and Gayle were so friendly and accommodating. Modest decor but just amazing food!

We stopped for dinner. This place offers soups and comfort food. The jambalaya was better than I had when I went to New Orleans. Affordable. Great people. This is the best restaurant in Portland.

We were greeted by the daughter/mother owners I believe and they couldn't be more welcoming to out of towners. They were also committed to locally produced foods and flavors. I'd highly recommend their beef stew and cornbread. Outstanding and in my top 10 list of all time for stews. The Thanksgiving Turkey sandwich was good too, almost too much food as it kept bursting out. I'd highly recommend this independent restaurant.

My coworker and I ordered GrubHub delivery for lunch: two of the soup and pocket combo meals, one with chicken noodle and the other with chili, both with the Thanksgiving pocket. Pocket was delicious! Wish cranberry mayo was better distributed but otherwise great. The chili was good, not spicy but I'm not a fan of spicy food anyway. My coworker said the chicken noodle soup was really bland.

I really like soups so I was excited by this addition to this part of town. I had minestrone and there was very little I could say positive about it. The broth was not very flavorful, the vegies were mushy, and even the smell of the soup was not very appetizing. Usually I will give a place another try with a different dish but I have not been able to talk myself into it. Improvements could be made by not allowing the vegetables to continue to cook in the soup (add them separate). It could be I chose a bad example or it could be growing pains since this place was relatively new. So if others are reviewing higher keep in mind I only tried the one soup.

A never miss bowl of soup for a musical performance at Keller's Theater. One block in any sort of Portland weather is do-able. A can't miss spot with the windows all steamed up. Welcoming smells inside and the soup and appropriate side of bread taste great and feel good inside too. Quick fill up or sit about and enjoy the other folks as well. Quick meal and not too heavy to spend the rest of the evening walking around town or sitting thru a performance.

The great smells from Portland Kettle reach you long before you enter the restaurant. I had their special shephards pie which was tasty and filling. My husband also had a daily special - a hot dog with chili and onions. This was a nice place to enjoy a quick and delicious lunch.

Casual stop with great food and very helpful and friendly staff. We were worn out from a day of exploring and the location is close to the hotel and we got a beautiful and delicious salad to go and some yummy cornbread for a simple dinner in our room. They were very kind to let us try a taste of the gumbo which was fantastic and we will be back for more!

I stopped by for a light lunch when I arrived in Portland. I had the corn chowder based on a staff recommendation. It was rich, flavorful and "sticks to your ribs." I ordered a great pilsner beer as well. The menu has an extensive list of soups, and sandwiches. The staff was super friendly and offered some tips for visiting the area. The prices are very reasonable and they deliver. I highly recommend Portland Kettle.

Fantastic food and lots of variety. The owner was working the counter when we walked in and we got to chat with him. He's very passionate about his resteraunt and food and made the place feel like home. I love seeing great little local businesses and this is certainly one that stands out.

Portland is known for great food and this place lives up to this saying. Their vegetable soup and wraps are amazing. I encourage you to go here at least once. Their soups really hit the spot on a cold day.

I had Chilli con carne here and my wife had the salad. The food was great and the people accommodating. It was also excellent value. I would definitely come back.

Used grubhub first time. Smooth process. Food delivered promptly and hot to our hotel. Chili was thick and flavorful. Corned beef thin shaved and stacked high. Turkey just as good.

The owner will let you try it - everything was great I tried the SHEPHERD’S PIE I got a cornbread with my meal

The Kettle is awesome, recommend the soup flight, you can't go wrong. I don't like cornbread but theirs is amazing, very moist, even at the end of the day. Easy going Cafe style seating. Not fancy but great food and great service. I don't live in Portland so we just stumble apon them but highly recommend!

My husband was feeling under the weather, so I went twice to pick up soup. We tried several types and they were all good. Best cornbread I've ever had and my mother is a Southern lady!

Several aspects of a few of the meals, such as the flavor of both chili, were a disappointment to our group. They messed up my order too - getting me the wrong pita but by that time I figured the correct pita probably wouldn't be good either. Pita bread was low quality and torn up.

I ordered the vegetarian chili (has soy protein instead of meat), which came with corn bread, and a bottled beverage. My bill was only $9.45. I actually got two meals of out the entree by bringing my leftovers back to my hotel room and putting them in the fridge. Can't beat the price, and it tasted good.

I had a chicken noodle vegetable soup and they give you a fork and a spoon to eat it with. You definitely need the fork as it is overflowing with fresh cut veggies, noodles and chicken, with a tasty broth once you get through all that. Low salt too, if you are sodium conscious.
Split Pea Soup Like my Grandma used to make
The couple that owns and cooks and serves are the nicest folks you could want to scoop soup. We had just arrived in Portland after a long travel day, starving, and had a hard time finding something that two teenage boys with very different palates could agree on. This was it. They both loved it. We each got a filling bowl of soup, and all agreed though we were starving we could have gotten the smaller sizes. I had delicious split pea with ham and the boys had chicken noodle. (yeah, I guess their palates aren't so different after all!) We got fresh corn bread and homemade chocolate pudding. The owners clearly took pride, and were very attentive and accommodating when we wanted to take some back to the hotel. Also, they happily gave samples of everything so we could be clear on what we liked. I wish we had one in Phoenix for our chilly, rainy days... oh. Right. I guess we'll just have to head back to Portland!
