I frequent Prego Pasta House at least once a month. They treat you like family every time you enter the front door. My favorite dish is the combination plate with meat sauce and a side of Italian sausage. Besides the outstanding taste and quality of the food, you can not beat the price. My family enjoys Prego so much that we have had multiple gatherings there over the last 20 plus years.Every occasion from birthday party to a rehearsal dinner, 60 were in attendance. Just want to say thanks to the Barraco family.

This restaurant was recommended to us by friend. We were not disappointed. The pasta Primavera was excellent. The cream sauce was delicious, there were fresh vegetables in the dish and the serving was ample. My wife got the egg plant and it was absolutely scrumptious. Finally, we got the coconut cake and it could not have been better. On top of this fantastic meal – the service was equally as good.

The food at this iconic Dallas landmark rarely disappoints. Simple yet well prepared dishes for any tastes. Wide variety of appetizers, wines, cocktails, and entrees. The bruscheta is a favorite, and our preference is normally always one of the chicken or veal items. The ONLY challenge is that it's so DAMN loud... one must sometimes shout just to communicate. For me, personally, that ruins the experience. Maybe take out moving forward. 🤔

OK, I was told to expect good Italian food but to also think about the primo chicken fried steak. By golly, if I go to an Italian joint that is what I want! The martinis, food and service were very pleasing. We had the biggest crab claws ever!

We ate here once, with a groupon if I remember right. I don't think we'd go back. It was average Italian food to us, kind of expensive, and the atmosphere just felt "strange". You felt like you were in a club that you didn't belong in. I think we'll pass next time when we're craving some Italian.

Had a great evening with my wife. The food was hot and ready for take out, and quite delicious at home. Was a real treat tonight!

This is a family run restaurant operating since the early 1980's. Great atmosphere, very cozy, extensive menu. Friendly staff. Excellent food.

First of all, I have been eating at this restuarant since they opened on October 31, 1982. I used to eat lunch here 3-4 days a week and sit at the bar. It is owned and operated by Joe and Rose Barraco. We decided to meet some of my wife's former teaching friends and their husbands for lunch in between Christmas and New Year in Dallas and we decided to visit one of my favorite places, Prego Pasta House. Rose greated us at the door and it was great to see her. Later Joe came out from the back office and we talked with him for a bit. Our food was excellent and as good as ever. Our waiter was excellent as well. We had wine, artichokes, cheese bread, and crab claws for appetizers. My favorite is the penne pasta with a meat ball and my wife had the chicken picata. We were stuffed and happy when we left and enjoyed a great meal and the company of our friends. I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys great Italian Food. If you want it, they will make it.

Service is great, prompt, very efficient. Shrimp Scampi was spot on, same goes for the crab claws. Atmosphere is preteen and well kept. It makes you feel like the restaurant opened yesterday, but The Burraco Family has been doing it right for more then 25 years. I highly recommend Prego's for your next family outing!!!

I love this traditional Italian restaurant whether it is for business or my family. The food is good and inexpensive.

I have eaten here for many years and have always enjoyed the food. Any of the veal and/or chicken dishes are very good. My wife especially likes the pizza. They serve pasta and a salad with a veal and/or chicken meal. Their house and caesar salads are very good too. I do want to point out one negative when we were there last time. I do not like marinara sauce on my pasta so I ask for garlic butter instead. This last time they actually charged me $1.25 for substituting. I mentioned it to my server and he said I should have always been charged for this substitution. I didn't want to argue, so you can guess where that $1.25 came out of on my bill. Up to that point our server had been very good.

Seriously, not kidding. The food here is amazing. Just like my grandmother's. Service is always friendly. Open late. We generally go a couple times a month and the food is consistently delicious. Give it a try! Love the 'family feel'.

Wonderful food and courteous well trained staff. Except for not going during Covid, it has been a regular stop for us for years

Two of the three of us had the mixed plate and they said it was fair or a little better. I had chicken marsala which was very uninspired, did not even finish. They need better wine glasses to help the reds on their wine list open up. The parking situation is a mess. Restaurant sorely in need of a makeover from top to bottom, outdated. Service was very personal and excellent. Can not recommend.

Family owned, not a chain. Real Italian food. Night, dinner is very nice and romantic. Awesome anti-pasta salad.

We frequently dine at this restaurant and love the atmosphere and food. However, last night was an exception. It was extremely loud with one large group, screaming children and even the waitress could not hear us order. One of the employees apologized for all the noise. After having wine and salads, we politely said we would prefer to dine at home. The waitress said she was sorry about the noise but there was nothing she could do about it. We stated that it was okay, but please pack up what we had eaten (and we had eaten some of our meal, and we would go home. We had a 25% coupon. She declined our coupon since the manager said it was for dine in only. Seriously, we had been there for 30 minutes, had wine, salads and just asked that our left overs be packed up. She said she was sorry but the manager would honor it. He should have given us a discount before I even asked. We were appalled that as quiet diners, who frequent the restaurant, the manager not only would not give the discount, but would not even apologize. We take friends here regularly as well and live close to the restaurant. We will never return. Such a mistake on the managers part. And customers who want to yell and children who are screaming (parents of these children), should be asked to calm down....not the quiet diners who are just trying to have a nice meal.

My husband and I ordered the halibut at the suggestion of the bartender. Unfortunately, the halibut was served extremely dry with the "crust" being completely inedible. The cost was $42.

I'm not sure why Prego receives the rave reviews. Went for dinner on Friday night. No reservations are accepted unless a party of 5 or more. Although the place was packed, we were seated quickly. That's the only positive thing I have to say about Prego. We ordered the crab claws as an appetizer - not bad - swimming in oil, but tasty. Main course "Joey's Famous Pepper Steak". I just can't figure out what makes this "famous". Maybe it's the massive quantity of brandy sauce that buries the meat! The Chicken Italiano was okay, nothing special. Fettuccine and salad came with both entrees. The fettuccine was cooked well, but was drowning in sauce. It had zero flavor. A little salt would have gone a long way on this dish. Now the salad, simple - very! Nothing but lettuce and one olive. People rave about it...why? Our waitress was attentive but not very friendly. Maybe it was because in order to feel welcome here you need to be a regular. This was my first and last visit to Prego's. The only redeeming part of the experience was the valet parking attendant was very nice.

We used to eat at Pregos often but we moved out to Rockwall many years ago and it was difficult getting into Dallas. We miss several of our go to spots on Greenville so we took a drive we were very sad most every classic restaurant had closed. Then we saw Pregos was still there we were thrilled love love the Godfather atmosphere and the food and service were as we remembered. The bartender makes a killer cocktail. We will definitely make the drive from Rockwall more often sorry I missed out all those years. I love old school and original in the good old days

This is our place when we want Italian food. Intimate setting. The food is great. Service is the best. We have been going there for years and have the same waiter every time we go. We have actually become friends with him and he knows exactly what we want in terms of wine, etc. without even asking. Highly recommend Prego.

We eat here often because the food is always good. A small restaurant with wonderful Italian food. The servers are not always friendly and this past visit the staff was very loud putting silverware away and very slow. We were there early, so no reason for this. However, still one of our local favorites.

Relied on published hours, open until 11 p.m. on Sunday. Took a cab to get over at 10:20; and a manager walked outside as we were getting out of the cab and advised they were closed.

Good food, friendly service. We had the Trio. Lasagna was pretty good and the meatball too. They charge 2.00 to split the entree. I don’t get that

The service is always very friendly always had excellent food. I eat there quite frequently and never had anything but a great experience.

We absolutely love this place. We live between Terrell and Wills Point and have just driven 68 miles to eat at Prego’s. We split the large chopped salad, special garlic cheese bread and a pizza all the way. Waitress was excellent and food is great.

On a Tuesday night - waited for menus for 10 min. Waited to give order for 20 min. Told waitress we wanted wine with dinner, not before. Waited for food for 25 min. Food not delivered by waitress...and...she never came back to ask what wine we wanted. Had to ask someone else to get our check...so we GET OUT of this place. Food was just OK. We gave a $1.00 tip because of this nonsense.

We arrived at 6:00 on a Saturday night. Restaurant was nearly full, but we were seated immediately. Food was delicious though service was slow and food did not come out at the same time. 1/3 of our party had food about 5 minutes before the rest. The garlic bread, pizza, steak, salads were all delicious.

Real italian food. The prices are fair. Service is good. My waiting time to be served was 5 minutes which is acceptable. I would definitely recommend this place.

This is one of the best Italian restaurants I've ever been to. It's so delicious, not too heavy, and has such a friendly staff. Reasonably priced with dinner entrees averaging $15 (less for pasta, more for steak). Amazing bread. Definitely eat here!

We've dined here for 20 years, charming "Dallas-style" Italian, with the same wait-staff and personel, always friendly and personal. Nice little salads, garlic bread, spaghetti and meatballs, chicken piccata and decent wine to sip. Simple, clean, happy place to frequent!

I've been going to Prego Pasta House for more years than I can remember. New York style thin-crust pizza that's definitely the best you'll find. The marinara sauce is also the best I've found anywhere.

Friendly staff, in with a great atmosphere (A bit loud but that adds to fun). Good hearty New York style food. Big favorite is the crab claws. 3 in our group had the veal and it was excellent. All in all its a great place to go with a few couples. Not recommended for an intimate romantic date. Great menu and good wine selection.

Over cooked and over sauced pasta dishes. Stuffed pastas seem to be frozen food. Salads are the old fashioned over dressed oil and vinegar. Not even a good representation of Americanized Italian food. The spot is nice and intimate and they have a lot of potential but they refuse to change. They need to get Gordon Ramsey in there.

Things here don't change much, but when it comes to attentive service and good food, that is a great thing. Great thin crust pizzas, garlicky crab claws and strong cocktails make for a wonderful meal. Our family has been coming here for years, and always treasures the atmosphere and service. You can go to nicer places and more hip places, but this one just feels right. Secret: get the chicken fried steak. Not on menu, but superb. We often order it as an appetizer and split amongst the whole crew.

I just love Prego Pasta House. My fave is the spinach lasagna with a couple of meatballs. The meatballs are excellent. They make their Italian sausage in house. The pizza is the best in town, order it well done for a crispier crust. Want something special, not on the menu? Just ask and they will accommodate you if at all possible. Best kept secret-the not on the menu chicken fried steak-best you will ever have, period, bar none. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. This is a family owned and operated place and they aim to please every time!

This was my first visit and went with a date. The waiter recommended the salmon and he was "spot-on". We asked for a special order. To have only lemon and olive oil on the salmond and the cheif had no problem with this request. We also asked for other veggis that weren't on the menu for that evening and they complied as well. My date ordered the house wine (sorry I don't know what it was) but it was good!

My wife really likes their thin pizza with goat cheese and hamburger. She adds a caesar salad and she is as happy as can be. I like their veal parmesan, with the house salad and the spaghetti with olive oil. Prego makes us both happy campers. The service for us has always been excellent.

We have been here twice and the owners son has waited on us both times. Food and service is excellent!! Don't even hesitate - go there!!!

This is a traditional spot, been here for years...enter and you'll be treated well and enjoy some good, homemade Italian-American fare. Try the veal cutlet parmiagiana because it is GOOD. Prices are not cheap, but this isn't a chain, so remember you're getting a special experience along with the price of food. I can't speak for the pizza (didn't try it) but the service is good and they don't kick you out if you want to sit and chat for a while. Best recommended for friends and business dinners, maybe a date. Have fun and enjoy the local tradition instead of a chain.

Rose and Joe Barraco have been serving Italian home cooking (plus a famous chicken fried steak) from this location for 30 years. There is NO better lunch menu--food and price--in Dallas. Pull in front and valet park and go in for a classic and amazing Dallas dining tradition. If you love good Italian food and you want a classy, intimate culinary experience, go to Prego's and you'll be glad you did. Oh, and be sure and say hello to the owners; they are there every day.

Fun local place for Italian. Good vegetable lasagna.

My boyfriend and I go to Prego's about once a month. Sometimes we sit in the restaurant, other times we sit at the comfortable neighborhood-type bar and eat there, depending on our mood. Jim is the owner, and he always stops by to say hi to us, and the bartenders are always spot-on with their service. If you like crab claws, I don't think there's another restaurant in the Dallas area that has better claws, which is a lot to say in the most per-capita populated restaurant area in the country. Ask for their complimentary bread to be served with it and dip it in the sauce for an over-the-top experience. They'll customize any dish for you, too. Atmosphere -- you can certainly go in as casual as you like, though the candles and cloth tablecloths can make for a romantic date, especially with the tables against the windows. I've also had their fettucini Alfredo (delish! -- I requested that it be made with tortellini instead) and their meatballs (outstanding -- I requested them with angel hair pasta and mushrooms). I must say we've had a delay or two in food service when we've sat at the tables, but I won't let one particular waiter take away from everything else this restaurant has to offer, which has alwasy been excellent.

This economical, high taste, great service restaurant is a great go-to location when you want very traditional Italian with great service. I went alone, sat at the bar and thoroughly enjoyed the classic Dallas Italian experience. Much better than Campisi. I enjoyed the Chicken Parmesan which includes a substantial side salad with tangy vinaigrette dressing, followed by a perfectly cooked chicken parm topped with their homemade marinara sauce. There's a side of spaghetti as well. The portion was so substantial that I only ate half and took the remainder home for lunch the next day (which was outstanding as well). For price paid, this is one of the better full service venues in Dallas.

I've lived in Dallas for about 18 years now and just started going to Prego's within the last year or so. It's been around since long before I moved here. We used to go to Aboca all the time for veal. But, Aboca changed hands a year or so ago and the veal is not very good there anymore. So, we decided to try Prego's. The veal is great. You do have to pay extra for capers if your order piccata, which I thought was kind of weird. Doesn't "piccata" sort of imply capers??? But, I'm ok with that because the prices are very reasonable. Service has always been great. They also make about the best meatballs I've ever had. Their red sauce is really good as well. The salad that comes with the meal is a basic Italian salad with iceberg lettuce, an olive and a peperoncini pepper. But, you know what... If you're in an Italian restaurant with red and white checkered table clothes, that's exactly the type of salad you expect! All in all, an enjoyable meal.

Don't know why I didn't know of this restaurant sooner. Absolute charming and old school. Everything about the restaurant is perfect! Service, food and especially the martini! Richard was my server, and met Robert later. Must try pasta Robert's way, with roasted garlic. Would be back definitely!

First time in this restaurant and went with a friend who eats in there a lot. Waiter was pretty good, but seemed rushed with our order. Lots of regulars in there. The lunch lasagna was delicious and very plentiful - in fact had it for lunch today. The salad was just lettuce and two olives - that was it. Dressing was very good. The bread is very poor and should be changed.

I was just at Prego's for my Mom's birthday dinner. I haven't been there in a few years and nothing...NOT A THING...has changed. The pizza appetizer was terrific, the house salad (as simple as it is) is delish and the pasta was fabulous. Whenever you want very good Italian food...go to Prego's!

We ate at Prego's Saturday evening and had a wonderful meal. The service and atmosphere were great. The menu was varied. There were four of us and all of us thoroughly enjoyed our selections.

When you first enter Prégo, you will probably wonder what you've stumbled across. However, the food was very good and the staff was very helpful and friendly. I was overlooked for about 5 minutes, but once the waiters figured out that no one helped me they were very apologetic and took great care of me. The veal Parmesan was very good and the house salad was delicious. I don't get to Dallas very much, but if I'm yearning Italian while I'm town, I'll be back!

Local person suggested this place. We arrived around 8:30-9:00 p.m. on a weekday and there were plenty of tables. The dinner rush was settling down. The host (and maybe owner) seated us away from the other tables upon request since my wife had a headache. It was a great semi-booth off to the side. We had a great waiter who was obviously Latino. Large guy with smiles, jokes, etc. I can't remember his name. Constantly on the move, he was still attentive to our every need. He adjusted the dishes to whatever request we had. They usually grill or pan sauté their crab claws, but when asked about deep frying them, he said, "Sure. Anything for the customer!" They were costly but perfectly cooked and unusually large in size too! My daughter and I had the spaghetti. Marinara on hers, and I had the meat sauce. Good flavor sauce, but the amount of meat in my sauce was small. My wife had some meatballs, and they were excellent. She also had some sautéed spinach which was perfect. My son had a steak which was cooked to perfection and was very tasty. Salads were great too. Our waiter's busboy was very much a part of the team and he did a lot during the meal so I tipped him directly, which is par for my course if I notice the busboy is an active part of the meal. Overall, we had a great time and a solid dinner here. We would definitely return but would look forward to trying other things from their extensive menu. Thumbs up!

Had the Prego combination in this family style restaurant. Pasta was tasty but not outstanding. In fact I found the Lasagne I had the day after at lunch at the Highlands tastier! I was expecting the meat balls I ordered as an option would have been meatier. It had the texture of meat loaf! The house Caesar's salad was a bit soft. It could have been so because we started dining about an hour and half before they closed. Stephen the waiter (a family member) was helpful and a good salesman! I would not seek to eat there again but it was decent.
Great food and outstanding service.
An outstanding night. The food was great. Service was even better. The garlic bread as a starter was excellent. Had the pizza with various toppings, and the chicken fried steak was also outstanding and huge. Both went home as generous leftovers. A good wine list.
