The crab and beet salad, although somewhat of a small serving, was nicely presented, fresh as any salad could be, and delicious. My friend had the chicken piccata which he was very pleased with. Although this was my first, hopefully not my last visit, the restaurant appears to concentrate on quality rather than quantity, and frankly I found this refreshing (pun intended). But I did find the prices a tad on the high side.

We live in the neighborhood and have been meaning to try this place since it opened, but after one visit I don't think we'll be back. First impression inside the door was good; interesting decor, place was full and buzzing. The first thing that didn't seem quite right was the outfit the staff wear: blue shirt, blue jeans, and converse shoes that seem completely out of place with the decor; more in keeping with a 1950's hamburger joint. It wasn't just their uniforms; the wait staff seemed unpolished in general; not even up to the level of mass market places like Chili's or Macaroni Grill. The food wasn't any better.I started with a Caesar salad which was pretty good. It was one of the whole leaf salads, which isn't my preferred approach, but the dressing was tasty. I would have like more pepper, but the waiter offered ground pepper, but then he just gave me a quick dusting, not even waiting for me to say "thanks" before moving on to the next person. Some basic training is lacking. I followed the Caesar with a "spicy" penne arrabiata, but it was disappointingly bland and tomato-soupish. My companions tried some different dishes, and had the same lukewarm reaction. Overall, the food was just OK. One other little thing we noticed and I overheard another family talking about: while we waited near the bar for our table, every time the front door of the restaurant opened a blast of cold air swept past... it would have been better to have some kind of barrier or double doors near the front to keep the cold out. In the summer I imagine heat will be a problem. Had high hopes that this conveniently located restaurant would become a family favorite, but it didn't make the cut.

Waiter seemed like it was his first day. For all the choices in the area, this one did not impress. Food was okay and overpriced.

I was there for a light meal before a movie. The server was excellent, polite without being overbearing. Food was fresh, the right temperature and the pace of service was just right. The beet salad was terrific.

My husband took me here for our Anniversary which was wonderful because I love this place. We had the 3 Cheese Flatbread which was delicious as an appetizer. My husband had the Veal Funghi which was loaded with mushrooms and I had the Grilled Branzino Siciliano (Mediterrean Sea Bass) which was fantastic. The service is wonderful, the manager is always available and very friendly. Delightful evening!

I have eaten there 4 times in the last 30 days because its in the neighborhood, but,no more! The pizza is either underdone ,burned or doesnt have the toppings you ordered. The service is awful and the manager is clueless. The gnocchi was good but the sauce was ordinary.

Have been a few times since moving to the neighborhood and expect to be back many more times. All of the pastas I have tried are fantastic, especially the homemade ones. You really cannot go wrong (or at least I have not as of yet). Pizza is why I give them 4 instead of 5 stars - just do not love the crust. Overall good, just not 100% on board like I am with the pasta. Starters and desserts have all been great. Service - very friendly but can def get slow when they are busy (which seems to be Thur, Fri and Sat nights).

What's with the ownership? They can't figure out that their wait staff is unfriendly? It's not just one server - I'm a frequent diner and I don't know that I've ever felt like the service was good. However, the food is good and location is convenient. And - probably because of mediocre service - you can always get a seat!

Great place for a family dinner. Nice atmosphere, delicious food and amazing wine. One of my favorite places for dinner.

My family tipped me to this great new restaurant on the corner of Preston/Royal in Dallas. The food here is fresh, unique, and not too heavy. Portion sizes are perfect if you're watching calories or generally a light eater. Ingredients are all fresh, and they have a great flavored iced tea for lunch. It tends to get busy around lunch, but they are also open for dinner (haven't tried that yet). The waitstaff are very knowledgeable and friendly. There are unique touches such as hand-tied burlap strings around each napkin and silverware, and the waiter mentioned they are shined by hand. (!) Try the pasta with chicken meatballs. Overall, excellent.

We had a nice dinner here and the food was delicious. Decent value for the quantity/quality of the food. Decor is a bit sparse which makes it a bit noisy in the space. Would like to try again to try some of the variety on the menu.

Great service and great Italian food in a friendly casual atmosphere. Perfect for a casual business dinner with colleagues.

Situated in a strip mall but worth the visit. Outside small patio for dining and inside has a fun buzz to it. Was crowded on a Tues. night in Oct by @ 6:30pm. Great Italian music playing, nice staff/attentive service. Great tasting food. Had chicken dish with cauliflower mash (special request side) and friend had another chicken dish- both were great. Will go back and recommend.

Joining some neighbors for our first visit to this neighborhood restaurant, we were pleasantly pleased by the open, airy atmosphere. The tables were nicely spaced that we weren't rubbing elbows with the people at the next table, the lighting was subdued, but not so much we couldn't see the menu. The atmosphere was comfortable, neat, yet not bare. Two of us ordered a pizza with additions to the pizza named on the menu, while two of us ordered pasta. The service was attentive and friendly, and our food came promptly. The pizza was cooked in the wood fired Italian pizza oven and had a thin crust that all of us really like. Our pasta dishes were flavorful, with fresh ingredients that conveyed the fresh flavor of tomatoes and basil. The portions were not huge and we all really appreciated having enough, and not too much. The only slight negative was the menu format. It's a folded piece of paper that first shows all the wines and beverage options, then must be unfolded another layer to reveal the actual menu. Since none of us are big drinkers, I found it slightly annoying to have to unfold the menu twice to reach the food selection. Prices were very reasonable and this is a restaurant that we'll go back to many times.

PRO: Nice, modern takes on classical Italian and some newer menu items with something for everyone..pastas, risottos, meat, fish and vegetarian. Service is professional and friendly. Prices reasonable given the quality, location and popularity. Daily specials are usually a v. good deal. Attractive --bistro looking place with open pizza oven area. Dress code everything from trendy 30 somethings to staid 50+ also sometimes kids. CONS: Noise level can be a bit hair-raising at weekends. I wish this place took reservations--if it did I'd be inclined to go more often but Dallasites will stand in clumps at the door in weather fair and foul. It means I'll not venture there at weekends with a group of 4 + between 7-9 pm.

Well. A friend and I went in to dine and I was craving their wonderful salad with the shaved Parmesan and fennel. I decided to order a margherita pizza as well, since I always wanted to try the pizza and never had. I knew it would be too much to eat so I would eat half and take the rest home. . The woman that set us at the front was so nice and kind and we got the table of our choice. The server was average our water glasses stayed empty almost the whole time. my friend had the spaghetti Bolognese and said it was wonderful, This is the item she always gets. ..For dessert we were given several choices including a blood orange cheesecake which we chose. Came out and it was a blueberry cheesecake. The server apologized and said he guessed it was the wrong cheesecake on that day. Well???.. The worst part came when we both went to get our checks to Leave stepped outside and within about 3 to 4 minutes I realized I had left the pizza that he had boxed up. . I went back in and he said he had already thrown it away, but it was in the trashcan in the box and asked me if he would I like for him to retrieve it out of the TRASHCAN. I politely said no and left. Thanks. But no thanks. What a night .

After 50 minutes my Post Mates order was cancelled with the lame explanation that the restaurant wasn’t accepting third party orders. Either accept orders or get off Post Mates. Stop wasting my time.

What a place! Absolutely everything here is to die for. We ordered the lemon sol fish, the fig pizza, chicken parmagiana, spaghetti bolognaise and 2 appetisers. The staff were fancy and friendly. The restaurant was clean and had a great ambiance. We polished off our plates even though they were large portions. The prices were reasonable. I cannot recommend this place more highly.

I will start with the service. The wait staff was amazing, especially our waitress. She was so nice and friendly and made us glad we chose this restaurant. The food was very good. We enjoyed all of the dishes and the waitress made excellent recommendations. The only negative was the slight smell of cleaning products around our table. It was a little off putting. But the atmosphere, food and drinks, and the wait staff were excellent. Thank you Roberta. We will be coming back.

Five stars for food and service. Why in the world does this great Italian restaurant play such loud and obnoxious music? Even rap! And there’s nothing to absorb the sound, so it is truly unpleasant. We asked that the volume be turned down. It wasn’t.

We went on a Tuesday evening and it was so loud inside you could not have even talked to one another so we opted for the patio. Very pleasant but more bugs than I would like...esp. mosquitos. Everyone seemed to like their pasta dishes, but I just had a salad. Very good, but WAAAAAY overpirced for what they put on the plate...one piece of cabbage, about a tablespoon of crab, a few pieces of crab, two pieces of fig, some bits of blood orange and a few bite-sized pieces of watermelon.

Wonderful food and service at a great price point! She had the Romano Crusted Chicken- farm fresh, organic, never frozen and delicious. I had the Spaghetti Bolognese- as good and better than what we enjoyed during our recent trip to Italy. We had the chocolate praline dessert. Perfect portion for two wand ohhh so rich. A neighboring table had the tiara missu - in a whole different interpretation and they called it wonderful too.

This is an excellent spot for lunch. It is a bit loud which can make it challenging for conversation and is not bargain prices. That being said, the location is fantastic, the ingredients fresh, and the service attentive.

The menu here is reminiscent of a New York Italian bistro. I have been here a half dozen times with different friends and we have all enjoyed our meals. The meatballs are great, the pizzas are different and delicious (fig and Gorgonzola on thin crust) and the fish dishes are superb. Very reasonably priced for the food and the neighborhood.

We had dinner at Princi Italia last weekend. I had the special-lobster arrabbiata, and my husband ordered the veal chop. The food was so delicious! The restaurant has a good selection of wines by the bottle or glass. The dessert was great! We always try to eat at this location whenever we go to Dallas.

Charmingly modern Italian restaurant with diverse menu. Not overloaded on the heavy pasta dishes, but those they have are all full of flavor. Nice selection of flatbreads and salads. Usually have one of their fish dishes, served with nice selection of vegetables. Wine list is extensive with, of course, an emphasis on Italian. In-house made gelato always has pure tastes. Brunch is always popular and seems to be amiable to families. I think that outside patio would accommodate pets, but don't know for sure. Staff attentive and generally very knowledgeable of wine list and menu. I like that they pour wine by the glass at table.

This is an excellent spot to enjoy top quality Italian food. I had a meatball appetizer ($7) which is plenty for two people. It comes with 3 regular and 3 chicken meatballs. The chicken meatballs are also featured on several entree dishes and they were outstanding. My business associate and I both had the braised pork shank entree. It comes with a spinach and sausage risotto. The pork was very flavorful and tender but for me, the sausage risotto stole the show. The sausage was definitely home made and similar to the meatballs, is offered with several other entrees and worth a try. Desserts were homemade and fresh. My associate declared his meal to be in his top 10 of all time. Although I was not quite ready to do the same, I will say that the food and overall experience was very good and I would highly recommend this restaurant. My only negative comment is that after taking our order, our waiter apologized and informed us that they do not offer a traditional bread service. So I can live without the bread but it is a bit unusual for an Italian restaurant. And if your servers are compelled to apologize for not serving bread, then either they are getting negative feedback from customers or management is instructing them to let customers know. Either way, they may want to reconsider the no bread service.

Went for early dinner during the week, and had a very enjoyable experience. Service was excellent and dishes served hot immediately from the kitchen when ready. I enjoyed the Italian red wine selections by the glass. Bruschetta di Buffala was very tasty, but just a tad too much butter on the otherwise well done appetizer. Nice portion to split between 2 persons. I ordered Carbonara pasta, loaded with fresh bacon tiny bits, very nicely prepared albeit just slightly missing the "al dente" texture that I was anticipating. My friend's Quattro Formaggi was reportedly very tasty - although the portion size for price paid was smallish. All in all, this restaurant is steady and reliable, and worth a return visit for pasta or pizza.

It is amazing that the building is standing when you look at the surrounding area. The recent tornado did not deter this restaurant. We had a family outing on a weeknight. The restaurant was busy and that is good to see. The pasta dishes are very good. Appetizers of bruschetta and figs was scrumptious. The kids had pizza. Good wine selection. Excellent service. A very good neighborhood restaurant in a recovering neighborhood.

We usually go here on Sunday's or after a family event. Good wine, and food is consistent. Service can be spotty. The flat bread and calamari is always a good choice.

Our third visit was as great as before. Open daily at 1100 and no reservations accepted. We were seated immediately at 5 PM but they were nearly full when we left at 6:30. My wife's a very light eater and wasn't very hungry after we started with an antipasto. Our waitress got her a child's order of fettuccini alfredo which wasn't on the menu but was perfect. My pepper fettuccini with sausage was excellent. The sausage wasn't the typical "Italian" flavor but was different and tasty. The service was, as always, friendly and professional. We'll be back the next time we visit Dallas.

On a Thursday evening the restaurant was bustling with activity. Active but not chaotic. We were seated very quickly at a nice table. The tables are comfortably spaced and the noise level is low allowing for personal conversations. We were greeted by our waiter immediately. He was helpful and accommodating, available but not intrusive. Excellent service. We had Caesar salad, Burrata cheese salad, and Italian sausage pizza. All items were prepared very well and the flavors were outstanding. The food service was superb. I noticed a special Italian wine on the menu and asked to see the bottle. Our waiter acted without hesitation and with enthusiasm when he brought the bottle. During dinner he continued to perform the wine service impeccably. Very professional and with a wonderful attitude. Don’t miss this restaurant!

We've been to Princi Italia a couple of times now and it will likely make our "rotation". I like the big open room with the small stand-up bar. Both times we have been here the place has been jumping with activity. Of course, with a big open room and a lot of activity, you have a lot of noise. That's why this is a good place to take your kids. They can get pizza or pasta, the adults can get something more sophisticated, and the noise level will drown out most mayhem the kids could create. Of course, this only works if you get there early, because after 6:30 there will be a wait and Princi does not take reservations. Still, the bar scene make the wait worthwhile if you've left the kiddos at home. They have a nice patio, but in August in Dallas, it's hard to endure. Interestingly, there were some patio table occupied when we were there. Both times I have been to Princi I have seen several things on the menu that I wanted, but both times I was persuaded into having an off-menu special. This last time it was a ragu of wild boar with restaurant made gnocci. It was way to muich to finish, but I finished it anyway because it was so good. My wife had chicken piccata. She said it was fine, but did not rave. My wife's sister had the scallops which looked awesome (one of the menu items that always tempt me). She said they were great. Princi has a lot of interesting wines by the glass including a lot of Italian selections. They waiter tried to push bottles, but had us figured correctly in that it was less expensive to go with a bottle than multiple glasses. Our service was great. Our waiter was there when we needed him, but he was not overbearing. The meal was paced properly, and we were not presssured to give up our table as we finished our wine, even though the crowd at the bar was 2 deep. Minor gripes: At this price point an Italian place ought to have bread service. The appetizer flatbread is good, and they sell a ton of them. What a profit center! While I like the energy of the place, at some point during dinner it became almost impossible to hear my sister in law across the table. This is partly a result of too many birthdays and too much Rock N Roll, but it was very noisy. Overall, this is good choice with kids or for a night out when you forgot to or didn't make reservations and don't mind a glass or two of wine at the bar. It 's a lively scene with better than average food.

I go to this place very often not only because it is right up the street from where I live but I love the food here too. I always sit at the bar (it's what I do). On this particular Sunday Simon was the bartender and I stopped in to have a couple of drinks and really late lunch. I missed out on brunch because I got there after 3pm so I just asked for grilled chicken breast and a house salad on the side. It's not on the menu but it's something that's pretty simple to do for their guests. The food came out in a timely manner and he put the dressing on the side as I requested. Then he offered the oil and the vinaigrette which I loved the vinaigrette. The restaurant is clean and from the hostesses, the management to everyone else that works here I would recommend stopping by. I don't like go during dinner rush because it can get crazy on the weekends so I try to go during off peak hours. There are two TV's located in the bar area. There's a nice outside patio area too. I'm not sure if it's dog friendly though. The restaurants not huge but is a good size. Parking is convenient and no valet. I love the house salad, the wedding soup, the spaghetti bolognese and the pizza is delicious too! Also, they have a special of day. I see people going to town on the mussels too so they must be yummy. For brunch I like the sausage scramble and the mimosas with freshly squeezed oranges. I'll get the cheese board too when I'm in wine and cheese mood. They have a nice selection of wine. I can go on and on but I'll stop here cause I'm getting hungry now.

We had a party of 8 to 10 people on a Friday night and had made a reservation about 2 weeks earler. My wife and I got to the restaurant early and asked about the reservation and they said it was for 8:00. We waited at the bar with drinks and then the rest of the party arrived. They said they could not find the reservation and could not seat us. They did not seem to care as they were busy. None of us will be going back to this restaurant and left and went to another Italian Restaurant, Ruggeri's, which was across the street that was also busy but happy to accomdate our party and was excellent.

I love To come here and sit inside or outside. The hosts are always quick to greet you and super friendly Small Wine list but nice. I usually get the arugula salad with EVO and fresh shaved Parmesan. It never disappoints. The flatbreads are always wonderful. This time my vegan friend got no cheese, they were quick to accommodate and it tasted wonderful. I continue to Come here because they are so friendly and the food is always fresh. Everything I have ever had here has been wonderful .

This restaurant is in the neighborhood of our church and we have been to brunch there many times after church and loved it. This night we went to dinner with friends to celebrate and had 3 amazing meals. Our food was delicious and our service perfection. My husband and a friend had the Lasagne, which he loved--scrumptious sauce and the perfect amount of cheese. We also had the fig and gorgonzola Bruchette- for an appetizer-a delightful change of pace for an appetizer. I had the Burrata salad that was fresh with the tangy balsamic dressing. The other member of our party had the Penne Arriabbiata because he wanted the spicy peppers...and he was not disappointed. We enjoyed our evening tremendously and for us that night, the restaurant was quiet and acceptable for table conversation. I am usually very critical of loud music in a restaurant and always looking for a quiet restaurant because I hate that we have to scream over the music. However, that evening for our table the music was acceptably low. But a word to restaurant owners everywhere--turn down the music! Customers don't want to scream over your loud music. Please, please know that it is to be background music--not music you have to yell over to hear the friends at your table. I'm on a quest for quiet restaurants and so far, this one is still on my list!! Thank you Princi Italia, Michael Nicol and his executive chef, Kevin Ascolese!

I have dined at Princi Italia on multiple occasions, and returned to experience an amazing dish. The South Texas Wild Boar Gnocchi was stunning, with arugula, shaved reggiano, evo. A savory dish that lingers! Previously, I tried the Tomato and Basil Flatbread, followed by the Chicken Picata, in a lemon caper sauce with fingerling potatoes and broccoli, both dishes were excellent. The light sauce was well executed and balanced out this dish perfectly. Also they have an excellent selection of Italian wines, from many of the 20 Italian wine regions. Definitely a restaurant worth trying, I'm a fan! Glenn Almack

A friend suggested we meet here when I was in Dallas. I can see why! Location, outside seating if you want, not too crowded, lovely interior, not only delightful food presentation but delicious menu items...just a perfect setting. Our selections were all ''delish''! My Salad arrived standing in blue pottery... then the salad was placed on my plate. Fun! Plus it was a wonderful '' bite to eat''. Our server was also aware of all our beverage needs at all times. I would go again...and I recommend it to you.

There simply is not better Italian food for the price in this part of Dallas. We have never had a dish that was not very good, or better. Love the carbonara, authentic Caesar salad and flatbreads especially. Reasonable prices on everything, including wines. Highly recommend giving Princi Italian a try.

We arrived for Sunday brunch, right at 11 am when it opens. We were the fourth party seated, three of us, and Salvador was our waiter. We ordered a flatbread to start. It didn't come out until pretty much all the other people who had come into the restaurant when we did had finished eating. We ordered coffee. When it finally came and we drank it, we never got refills. Salvador wandered the restaurant, mostly chatting with other employees, especially the young, seemingly inexperienced hostess. At one point, the table next to us, seeing that their drink was sitting at the bar (from clean across the restaurant), had to get Salvador's attention (who was chatting) to bring the drink. Salvador seemed confused and out-of-it. The food was really good. Too bad the service didn't match.

A wonderful restaurant. We were seated quickly and presented with this with a menu with 4 different sections for pizza, specials, pasta and main plates. We were there for lunch, but at the time they weren't serving lunch. As we walked in this beautiful restaurant the manager approached us and explained that they would be serving lunch after the beginning of the year. The young man was extremely personable, and easy to talk to. He walked us around the restaurant. We went in that night. Food was delish, great atmosphere and very friendly staff. The most expensive plates was $26, specials different prices from $19 to $25. The wood burning oven pizzas look great, very reasonable prices, very good selection of appetizers, salads and bruschetta. I had the bruschetta di Bufala, I thought it was excellent. A nice selection of wines, most Italians which I like them very much as some good California wines, served by the glass or bottles. I will definitely go back.

A group from work went here today and my goodness we were impressed! Everyone enjoyed their meal. I had the Romano Chicken with linguini and it was perfect. The appetizers were all great. The decor is wonderful and the service was on point - highly recommend!!!

This was our third time here and the food has always been good but the service is really. lacking. From the time we sat down to the time we left it took 2 hours to finish our meal and we were seated immediately upon arrival. Our waitress was very nice but was over her head. I don't know why a restaurant that's trying to be an upscale hub hire college kids with little restaurant experience. No we will not be back. I would suggest you go during lunch where the waitstaff is not overwhelmed because the food is good but once the food quality starts lacking then this will be just another has been food joint.

We have dined at Princi many times. We love the waiter Justin who always gives us the best service. The food is incredible. My favorite dish is the Fettuccine di Mare. This restaurant is by far one of our favorites and is certainly not a chain. The patio dining is very romantic and not very noisy. We will continue to dine at this fine restaurant.

First off, let me start by saying, I pride myself in being a food and wine connoisseur! I know the difference in good food and bad! I have eaten at places all over the globe and do not tolerate poorly prepared food. This place does not disappoint! I have been here multiple times and have ordered several wines and dishes every time. Their wine list isn't extensive, but the wines they carry are higher quality. They give you a nicely portioned glass and most of the waiters can pair wines perfectly! The food is fabulous! Different than your typical chain Italian restaurant, but that is why I love this place! The food is fresh, never greasy, and uses only the best ingredients. This a place you must get multiple courses from! The pizzas are delicious. The chicken piccata is my all time favorite! Their wedding soup is very tasty, and the desserts are divine. Now, I have not tried their steak yet, so I cannot comment on how it's prepared. I will say if you are an Olive Garden fan and like your pizza from Papa Johns, this place is not for you. Another thing I cannot, under any circumstances, stand in a restaurant is bad service. I have been here multiple times for lunch and dinner, and generally, I am very impressed with the service I receive. I will say that my favorite waiter there is Michael. He usually only works at night, but I highly recommend him! You can't miss him. He looks just like Clark Kent/Superman! He has studied wine and knows how to pair everything on their menu perfectly! Every waiter here is polite, efficient, and gives good advice about their menu. They are not the kind of waiters that waste your time talking nonsense and interrupting your dinner. I will close with this. If you love a well prepared meal and higher end wine, this is your place to go! If you care more about what your waiters look like and how much money the restaurant has put into cheesy decor, this is not for you. Hopefully, everyone of you will have the same great experience I have had time and time again!

We have been searching for anew Italian restaurant for several years and this is IT. I have been here for lunch 3 times (always enjoyable). Saturday night we tooka group of eight and were very pleased. MY husband and I arrived at 6:45 and told them we had a party of eight coming and they made up a table and seated us even though the others had not arrived. all through the evening the service was friendly and professional. The wine was very good as were the appetizers-calamari & shrimp and flatbread. Their bruschetta is also delicious. All of the entres were very good-- salmon, trout, and fettucine di mare (wonderful!). For dessert we had chocolate lava cake (yummy!) and gelato. It was an excellent meal. The only negative thing I can say is that it is very noisy at night.

Located in a strip mall--this place was very good. Very tasty Italian dishes at reasonable prices. Our waiter was very good as well. Had the best muscles I ever tasted. Interesting menu--highly recommend it.

It's a modern lively place located in the heart of Preston Center. Solid value and excellent pizzas. Really, it's a good neighborhood hang-out.

Not everyone loves figs, but I do! We had the Fig & Gorgonzola bruschette with balsamic reduction on large slices of delicious sour dough bread. Seriously, you could make a meal on this alone! I also suggest the Watermelon Crab Salad, this is served with cucumber and lime cilantro - this salad could stand the test in ANY restaurant in Dallas. My, my, you can't do better for a light summer salad. The Fettuccine di Mare dish with lump crab, succulent shrimp, asparagus and fresh basil cream is a satisfying main. I highly recommend. As for ambiance, my first impression is casual, slightly chic, very friendly atmosphere. You are missing out if you don't try this place soon!

Princi Italia was recommended by a bartender at our hotel, and he nailed it. Lively atmosphere and smelled incredible. It’s obviously frequented by regulars because people were jumping from table to table. We ordered a flatbread pizza that was without a doubt the best I’ve ever had. The pasta and meatballs was just as good. The service was great, and the martinis were perfect. The next time we go to Dallas you can bet we’ll be coming back!

We wanted to try out a new place so we went to Princi Italia as it had good reviews. During dinner with my wife all was going well until I took a bite of my pasta and felt a crunch in my mouth. I found a shard of glass and obviously spit out as much as I could but I did ingest a bit of the glass. I let our server, Sarah, know about the problem and she sent over the Managing Parter, Michael Nichol. This man apologized and then proceeded to tell me that what I most likely found in my food was plastic and not glass because, " there is no glass in the kitchen". Are you kidding me? !? Mind you, I sent the shard of glass from my mouth over to him with Sarah, the waitress. We were speechless that this is what this guy said. So plastic is okay to find in your food but not glass??!!? Unbelievable! I am now sitting here anxiously wondering what is going on inside my body. Totally unacceptable! Mr. Nichol obviously did not make us pay for our dinner and he gave me his business card "in case I have to go to the doctor". Needless to say we will never walk back in this place again.

Even though we went on a busy Friday night, the service was prompt, attentive and the food was excellent.

We were dining with friends. They ordered Pizza, we ordered other entries. The pizza came 10 minutes before the rest of the food. Our waiter was no where to be found. Once we found a manager, he told us that the chief wanted the pizza brought out so soon as it was done. He ARGUED with us that that was how it should be done, even though the pizza sat getting cold, while our guests waited for our food to come to the table. So rude to not serve all food to the table at the same time.

We have gone to Princi multiple times and, on par with good eats, enjoyed the neighborhood eatery style of this restaurant. With the opening of a new location in Plano and transfer of more experienced staff there, the Dallas business has suffered - less experienced servers, less personal/neighborhood feel. The food is good and you may want to make a reservation if coming during popular times.

I absolutely love this restaurant, but I never have ever had consistent food and service together… today we went my husband and I had my favorite, fabulous arugula and fennel salad. I’ve never had pizza there and it was really really wonderful. crispy from a Woodfire oven I believe. We had the Margherita. My husband had a beer. I usually have wine but chose just for water with lemon. They have a really nice wine menu . We sat outside because it was actually not too hot. They have a really pretty patio and in the fall it’s great to sit outside, even though the traffic can be a bit loud. The server seemed a bit off at the beginning, and kind of warmed up to us towards the end. We always give a really great tip but I believe the service could’ve been a little bit more attentive. We were the only couple outside.. I always return because it’s a good location and it gets really busy on the weekend. It’s a great local hang out and I’ve been going for probably about 10 or 12 years when I visit Dallas I always look forward to going there.. they have a fabulous spaghetti Bolognese.

We arrived early for our reservations and were seated on a small outdoor patio, it was wrapped in plastic with heaters glowing overhead. If we had not made reservations I could understand being put in an overflow space. There were many open tables in the restaurant, no possible excuse for placing us on that patio. We have eaten at this restaurant many times, the food and service are impeccable. Our waiter Justin was great today and our food was great, the ambience ruined the whole time for us.

Great neighborhood Italian restaurant. the food is always good along with the service. wine list is priced fairly. the specials are always a good choice.

This is a smaller neighborhood Italian restaurant with very good food and our service was very good as well. We were here at 1 pm on a Friday afternoon and it was pretty crowded and a little on the noisy side. I was meeting an old high school friend and it was too noisy to carry on a quiet conversation. We asked to be moved to a quieter section and they were very accommodating. I prefer a low carbohydrate meal. I had the Chicken Piccata and it was perfect; tender and succulent. My friend had the Chicken Caesar Salad. It was prepared as a salad on a plate with a whole chicken breast next to the salad on the plate. I little different presentation, but a good salad.

Yes you can order typical Italian dishes, but there is so much more. Our valentine menu was reasonably priced and delicious. It has an upscale neighborhood feel to it and I will return when I am in the area.

We came here because it was highly recommended on TA. The place was swamped and inside a strip center but a building on its own. We sat at a high top near the bar and waited about 20 mihutes to get served. We decided to get some red wine and the lists was weak. I asked the waiter if this was a chain and he said its a chain in the regards the Corporation owns all types of restaurants and this is their "Italian" one.. I should have known right there it wasn't going to be good.. I got the "Italian Wedding Soup" and it had two large Chicken Meatballs which looked like a bowl of wonton soup. The broth was thin and flavorless with very little pasta. I was told the the ribs with the risotto was a great dish.. Literally was one of the least favorless pieces of meat i have ever had. If it wasn't for the sauce that was drizzled around it, it would be unbearable. The Risotto was watery and flavorless. I told the waiter and he proceeded to apologize but did nothing.. Place is chain Italian at its worst.

The food and service were excellent, but I have a big problem with the hostess and the restaurant's "reservation" policy. When we checked in with the hostess to see if our friend had made a reservation, the hostess informed us that the restaurant doesn't take reservations. However, when the hostess took us to a table and we asked to sit at the table next to us, she informed us that the table was reserved. Hmmmm. How can a table be reserved if the restaurant doesn't take reservations? We were very disappointed in our treatment. It reflected a lack of concern for its customers - and we are repeat customers. I think management needs to have a talk with this hostess and explain how insulting her actions were.

It doesn't happen often, but occasionally I don't want a sauce other than butter sauce on fettuccine or spaghetti (rigatoni works, too), sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. Odd? Well if you grew up in the 1950s and your Italian grandmother and mother never prepared a meal with meat on a Friday, you enjoyed this meatless combo. So during one stretch of my summer vacation in Dallas I decided to eat fettuccine, butter sauce and Parm cheese on several occasions just to find out if I could (would the restaurants not understand what I wanted?) and to compare the dishes. Princi Italia, a restaurant I've frequented, served the best tasting dish but also charged the most money for it. In fact, the waitress, who I could tell didn't really understand the combo (what's to understand?) listed my meal as Fettuccine Alfredo! Big priced meal. Penne Pomodoro, a nearby restaurant with real Italians waiting tables, immediately knew what I wanted but said, "We don't have fettuccine." Huh? So I substituted spaghetti. Sadly, while the taste profile was good (it's got to be the right combo of butter sauce and cheese), the serving was very small. And the price was equally as high as Princi. The best dish was served to me at Aboca, not far from the other two. The taste profile was not as good as Princi's, but the serving was plentiful and it cost under $10! That's a great bargain. Chances are you're never going to crave this combo, but if you do, and you're in Dallas, you'll now know where to eat.

We stopped in for a glass of wine while waiting for the rush hour traffic to die down. One glass turned into two and we decided to order the Meatballs Al Forno as an appetizer. The meatballs were excellent. Not your typical bland fare in a bland sauce. Three chicken and three beef meatballs came to an order. They were bold and tasty and equally enjoyable. The sauce was rich and delightful. Service at the bar was perfect. The wine list by the glass was extensive and satisfying for a wine person. The ambiance was elegant and the place was full on a Friday night by 6:30. I look forward to coming back and trying a full dinner in the dining room.

Had lunch at the restaurant, which had been excellent recently. Ordered the Salmon, which came with brussel sprouts. Maybe a miniature 3oz piece if fish and 4/5 sprouts. Would have complained there but it was a business lunch! Not happy and still hungry!!

We met up with family for dinner on a Sunday night at 6, and despite the crowd, we were seated right away. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and he was helpful and not overbearing -- he let us take our time. The ambience in this place was nice. The bathrooms were very clean -- which is always a good sign in my book. We had appetizers and ordered the calamari/shrimp and bruschetta. The bruschetta was cooked like a pizza but it was good. They have a brick oven to bake their pizzas. For the meal we ordered Caesar & house salads, spaghetti Bolognese, and a white sauce chicken & artichoke lasagna -- oh my but it was SO DELICIOUS!! The salads were really fresh. My husband and I shared the lasagna and it was plenty for the both of us. There's an excellent wine/drink menu -- everything we had was spectacular. The desserts are made in house & we couldn't resist! We shared the white chocolate mousse and molten lava cake -- both were beautifully presented and were sheer perfection!! We will definitely come back -- there's also a location in Plano.

Love this place ! The ambiance was nice and the service fantastic !!! I had pizza and was super good!!!Definitely recommend this place and will be out there soon.

This is a very good to excellent local Italian restaurant in Preston-Royal area of Dallas. It is a trendy, busy, modern-looking place with an active bar area. The appetizers, entrees and desserts were very good to excellent and the service was good to very good. (Our server was not quite as attentive as we would have liked.) We had a very good experience and will likely go back.

I want to be fair here but here's what happened. My wife and I had already received our appetizers and drinks and were waiting on the main courses. Out of the corner of my eyes I noticed something moving across the floor but couldn't see what is was. I asked my wife if she saw it and she said she thought she saw something. Oh great, a roach was running around. No, I looked closer under a table and thought it was a bird. No, wait, as it moved around and looked at me, I saw it was a rat. My wife saw it and to her credit, did not freak out. I said wait here and I went to speak to any employee I could find. As I left my chair the rat ran in front of me and I froze and then kept walking. I told the employee tactfully that there was a situation involving a rat and they needed to deal with it. My wife and I went up to the bar so our feet didn't have to touch the floor and had our drinks. When a few waiters went looking for the rat nobody found anything and no other patrons saw it. We just wanted to see how all this was going to play out. The girl I told was walking around with a white plastic grocery bag like she was just going to scoop it up and I thought, "are you kidding me?". 15 minutes later we saw it again and it was crawling right underneath a table with two people eating. I waved the same girl over to our table and pointed the rat out and she let out a gasp and ran off. Well at least someone can confirm seeing it. We had enough and asked to speak to the manager. I was amongst the most unobservant group of restaurant patrons and waiters I had ever seen. The manager never came out to see us and we were first time customers who just wanted to give them a chance to assure us the kitchen was clean, etc. Our meal was free but the lack of attention to the situation was disturbing. The food we did eat was good but the management of this place needs to do a better job of taking care of customers and these issues. I understand #%$@! happens but there did not appear to be any urgency to deal with this. I think they were just going to wait it out and hope no one else noticed. It's going to be tough to go back. If you do go, sit at the bar where your feet will be off the ground. Again, part of this is bad luck but part of this is also bad management.

great family friendly brunch! the menu has a lot of very interesting and tasty items! we loved the whole experience.

Food is good albeit a little pricey. Wines are unique but I haven't been impressed yet. Way too noisy. Not cozy.

The whole family loves this contemporary Italian. A great selection of pizza, pasta and meats. Casual atmosphere and great service. There is a special every day and I let you discover my sunday's favorite. Leave room for desert as they are very good. If you want to sample the food for cheaper, go for lunch. Location is convenient off Dallas North Tollway and on the corner of Preston and Royal.

Nice menu, very attentive service. The food was good, but not great. I had the short ribs that were just not as flavorfull as I know they can be.

We opted to sit on the patio to take advantage of the nice day. It was Saturday and the place was not 30% full. We started with a calamari/shrimp appetizer that was very nice. We each chose a pasta dish and they were good. The pasta was made in house. A good glass of wine and a limoncello was ordered and enjoyed. Finished with a cup of pressed coffee and a latte. We paid the bill but since the day was nice and the place wasn't crowded, we stayed for a couple of hours and talked. Although we didn't order anything else, the staff keep checking on us. Service was excellent!

Princi Italia has been one of our favorite restaurants with constantly great food at reasonable prices, but on our last visit there we were disappointed - pasta overcooked, sauces too heavy and the breaded veal special dry. Service was great and the server did remove the pasta from our bill - mentioning that another diner had also not liked it. Maybe their expansion to Plano is causing them to lose focus on the base.

It's difficult to find really good Italian food in the Dallas metroplex, but Prince offers a variety of pizzas and entrees that most people will enjoy if they're going out for an Italian meal. Nice setting with outdoor seating available.

I give this restaurant a solid 4 stars, even 4.5. We had a very enjoyable dinner on a Sunday night. We arrived before 6pm but by 7pm the restaurant was completely full with a wait and had become extremely loud to the point that conversation was difficult. We started with the seasonal special of bruschetta with heirloom tomatoes and I can safely say that it was the best bruschetta I have ever eaten in my life. The tomatoes were fresh and flavorful, the bread was perfect, and I think they use a simple olive oil to bring everything together. It was spectacular. The bruschetta alone is a reason to visit this restaurant. We split a Caesar salad and it was good but the dressing seemed to lack anchovy and all the cheese was clumped in one place instead of spread out. There was a lot garlic which we like but it could be considered strong by some people. I had the bolognese upon the recommendation of our server and I enjoyed it a lot. There was a hint of nutmeg that was discernible. I think the meat was mainly ground beef but I could be wrong. When I make bolognese at home I use a variety of meats and the flavor is deeper, but this version was quite good. I don't have any complaints. The wife had a fig and gorgonzola pizza. She loved the crust (wood fired oven) but said the figs were overly sweet. It's a big pizza and really it should be shared by 2-3 people, so we took most of it home. The restaurant is clean and modern. Ambience is upscale casual without pretension. Our server Berta was was very busy but she was helpful when we had her attention. Overall, we liked this place a lot and will return.

Great food and great staff. Many wonderful choices and a good wine list as well. They were able to accommodate a large group without any problem.

Our waiter, Louis, was the most complimentary part of our dinner evening, as he was polite and attentive. Reservations had been made thru Richard, mgr, as it was a special birthday dinner for an adult. Restaurant is not very large and was noisey the entire meal. The chosen appetizers and entrees were disappointing both in terms of taste and value for the price. However, I will say that the Tiramisu dessert was delicious. Will think twice before returning.

We loved our brunch. Four out of four brunch entrees we ordered were delicious and every plate cleaned! The belinnis were perfect and the ice tea the best I've had. The dining room is delightful and the service superb. We will be back to this convenient north Dallas restaurant soon. Try it, you'll love it too.

After discovering that two other Italian restaurants which supposedly were open were actually closed (July 4th weekend), we finally discovered Princi Italia on Royal Lane. Service by Joseph and the restaurant team was very good - we were taken care of quickly and checked on regularly for updates on our needs. I noticed that cioppino (shellfish stew) was an early-week special and asked if there were any way I could get some. Joseph checked and I was in luck - and the stew was also very good, heavy on the mussels, My friend opted for the Sunday Lasagna, which he said was also very good. The red wine I had ordered turned out to be unavailable, but I was given an excellent alternative glass at the same price. A small scoop of lemon gelato finished the meal, to our mutual satisfaction. Oh, and the bread is wonderful, hard and crispy. Definitely I'll be back to try more menu items.

Visited W.Plano location. Soon as we approached front doors opened an we were greeted by 2 big smiling hosts. Very inviting especially since never been. We were seated quickly an server Pablo was quick to greet us as well He answered all our questions as he poured our wine to start meal. We wanted pizza but I wanted sausage n wife wanted pepperoni so Pablo suggested 1/2 1/2. Perfect start. We went ahead ordered crab salad n wedding soup. Wife loved it. I ordered scallops an they were cooked perfectly. The GM an manager visited our table making sure all was perfect n it was. Upon leaving those 2 smiling hosts had doors open an thanked us for coming in. Prices are great especially for high quality food. We'll definitely be back. Welcome to W. Plano.

Princi Italia has consistently offered up excellent food, well crafted cocktails and an extensive wine list in a smart setting for management y years and our recent visit was no exception to this! They do not accept reservations so sometimes there is a wait for a table but the end result is worth your time. If you can find a seat at the bar they serve the full menu there as well. Outdoor dining on their patio is nice when it is not too hot. They have a variety of specials on most days but do not offer any sort of Happy Hour which would be a nice thing at the bar but honestly we thing the food is worth the costs anyway.

Was so excited to see a neighborhood restaurant opening in Plano in this fast growing and yet established area at Parker and the Tollway. Eatzi has enjoyed huge success as has other well owned, managed and staffed businesses. Tonight after knowing that Princi Italia opened a month ago and we tried it. Has the potential to really be a place for regulars to enjoy a good neighborhood place. The food was okay, not fast food or prices, quality needs flavorful tweaking. Staff, starting with the Manager is so very lacking in experience and desire to take care of, or for the most part, care whether a customer is there or not. Majority of Staff, Manager and Hostesses are much more interested in conversation (where customers can hear) how much tip, gossip about customers, etc. This Manager, and entire Staff are not Trained in even basics of greeting, welcoming, knowledge of menu (or caring) serving food or beverages. All this happening while the Manager wanders in and outside talking to Hostess, chit-chat with wait staff. Obviously avoiding greeting customers at the tables (a busy night) and very uncomfortable with any conversation with guests paying and taking their time in this establishment. Definitely needs some seasoned and professional people to blend with the few eager to succeed young people (most still need to be in Franchise Fast Food, with a who cares attitude) Location and possibly concept would be huge success, but ONLY if Investors, Owners are interested enough to understand and make some serious changes...... Would do well to do this ASAP before you get a lot of No Way I Am Going Back There......

This place looks lovely and serves lovely food. It has a nice bar area to wait for your friends or to have a solo meal. Great service.

This little Italian gem is one of our favorites. The food, quite simply, is fantastic. Authentic Italian, with many selections, including superb appetizers as well as entrees. Excellent service and knowledgeable waiters. One issue for me is the noise level. Music rather loud and nothing to "absorb" the sound. If the restaurant is full or nearly full, it is hard to carry on a conversation.

today we had been there for dinner. The restaurant was small and the wait time was about fifteen minutes before the hostess could get us a table. The clientele out there were rich elderly couples. The food was authentic Italian with variety of pastas, wood fired pizzas and tasty desserts. We being vegetarians, had limited choice of varieties. We and fettuccini, ravioli pastas, cheese pizza and hot brownie for the desert. The service was quick, hostess was very helpful as we had a two year old. The ambience was good.the restaurant has a bar with choice of wines and spirits. We enjoyed a tasty good Italian food.

We had a very enjoyable experience at Princi Italia. Our server Salvador was excellent, the ambiance was inviting and the food was yummy. Looking forward to our next visit.

Wine lists is good, food is well prepared and the staff is friendly. Sometimes too busy, but always friendly.

We absolutely love this restaurant. We have been coming for 2plus years and do eat in and take out. All is exceptional always. Service is always with a smile. Pasta homemade. Wine offerings high end. Have done eat in (outside patio delightful) and take out. Pizzas made truly Italian style. Highly recommend

A group of 15 friends for Friday night drinks and dinner! Service was outstanding as was the food. Wedding soup very nicely seasoned. Caesar salad featured an interesting presentation(entire leaves) but dressing was excellent. Pizza featured some odd combinations (fig didn't work for me --- was small, crispy and didn't add much )... but the crust was absolutely divine - very thin cracker crust ). A nice selection of wine - but all seemed pricey - even by the glass. The Italian beer was very good and well priced (Birra Moretti @ $6). Rated 4 vs 5 because the prices seemed high across the board.

Went to Princi Italia for lunch twice in the last two months and was pleasantly surprised.… had the wedding soup and a Caesar salad both times… It was a simple entree but so good! Can't wait to try some of the other dishes! Prices weren't bad either!

We decided to go to this little small place in a shopping center. The waitstaff was amazing, the bartender knew her stuff. The food was amazing, freshly cooked to order. Even the desserts were good. We will be back for sure.

Excellent dinning experience. This is the second time I have been there, and it gets better. The food is fabulous, a wonderful wine list. Our server was Jasmine and if she is there when I return to Dallas, I will ask for her, she was very helpful in deciding what some of us were drinking (WINE), as well as her knowledge of the menu. Everything with a smile in her face. I had the Scottish Salmon with a Cauliflower gratin, out of this world. Dessert, I had a Tiramisu, that in itself would have been a meal. Will be there soon again.

Absolutely the worst dinner experience in a very long time. So many disappointments, starting with our seating being bypassed because the hostess didn't come to the bar to notify us (even though she knew where we were at the bar). The waiter didn't bring the salad that was ordered, but of the 3 entrees that were ordered - 2 of them were inedible. Spaghetti Bolognese: the presentation was awful and the pasta wasn't cooked. The Veal Francese was without flavor. Had to go to another table and ask for their salt and pepper, which still didn't help with making the dish better. Although management was very "understanding", this is a restaurant to avoid. The waiter was clueless and actually asked if we wanted a "to go" box for our food. REALLY!!!

The Cesar salad is exceptional and the pizza selections are not the run of the mill pepperoni! Try the fig pizza and don’t miss the great crab salad. Lunch or dinner will not disappoint!

I came in with my mother today and everything was amazing. Simon was our bartender and he was very friendly and informative too. His wine recommendation was perfect! We ordered 2 appetizers, the tomato/basil flat bread and the Italian wedding soup. Both came out fast and were served hot. I love the Italian wedding soup with chicken meatballs. I have been coming here for awhile now and love this place. Everyone here is very nice and so is the atmosphere. It's small but nice and a couple of TV's at the bar. 👌 If you enjoy dining at the bar then you should def try this one and chat up with some of the neighborhood locals. I always make new friends. :). If you come in large groups thats fine too but either way depending on the time of day there could be a short wait. I recommend coming during off peak times. :) Wood burning fire stove. 👌 They have an outside patio too. I recommend checking out the daily specials. Yummy!!! That's all for now.

Sunday brunch, this was a buy one get one free day. My husband had the buratta salad and I had the French toast with bacon both were excellent. Ameen provided excellent service.

Went here with out of town visiting friends 16 May, 2013. This used to be Popolos and has now changed owners. Decor was fine and the ambiance had a good feeling to it. Service was very good. While we didn't eat a lot of different items from the menu the food that we did eat was good. Wine list was good but a tad on the expensive side. The acoustics need to be improved upon as even though we were as far from the bar area as possible it was still loud and we had to raise our voices to be heard. A lot of shrieking from a birthday party table at the other end of the room. If you want some peace and quiet then one must sit in the glassed in patio area on the West side of the restaurant. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but should we want to eat locally (the place is about 2.5 miles from the house) I would certainly not hesitate to go there!

Decided to go out last minute and went to Princi. We've been there several times now and tried several different things all have been good the gnocchi and wild boar is really good all fish dishes are very good the pork shank is excellent. Service is always good

We dropped in and were seated promptly. We had the option of inside or patio. It was damp and cool outside but we opted for patio anyway. It was heated. There is a huge difference in the sound level between inside and the patio. The patio allowed for a more intimate conversation. I ordered the prosciutto and Parmesan pizza. My wife ordered the chicken lasagna. The pizza was good but not great. I would advise you to order a different style if you like traditional pizza (i.e.; tomato sauce). The lasagna was excellent. Nice selection of wine. Attentive service.

Although we don't live in the neighborhood, always get a warm, comfy feeling here. Specials are dependably good and Sunday chicken lasagna is special. Good wine list and fish items are reliable.

Hmmmm...what's missing here? Oh yeah! Good food that's what. This place is way too expensive for what you get. My dish was the chicken picatta. A small chicken breast came on a plate the size of salad saucer. All jammed up together with two or three halved fingerling potatoes and some barely chewable broccolini. My wife's lemon sole filet was small and overcooked. Not a single offer to put bread on the table. Bill came to $66 that included two cocktails. I'm Italian and I approve this message

I love restaurants that have regular specials and they perfect them. Princi Italia does just that. The Friday night special is Osso Buco and it did not disappoint! as usual there is a great wine list from which you can select your favorite. The menu will have something for everyone. Even the kids love it.

Wonderful couples mid-week get away! Great wine selection, recommend the priest cab, awesome!! Then for appetizer- the pasta fonduta is amazing, full of fresh shaved truffles! Followed by the pasta Bolognaise- hard to beat! Great service, not rushed, allows for lots of conversation and a great catch up dinner mid week for two working people to re-connect! Love this place, an absolute fav, we will be back!!

Dinner was good as usual. We are there weekly. This week I went to the ladies room and was disgusted with the mold which was everywhere around the wash basins. Really?

My wife spent several years in Italy and proclaims princi the most like a small place in her "hometown". In fact, since we stopped in for a late lunch, the only other customers when we arrived were two young women speaking Italian to each other. We each had one of the veal dishes on their menu. The veal was thin, tender and not breaded. There was enough in each that we could have shared one dish but I'm glad we didn't because each was delicious. David provided excellent service and was completely knowledgeable about the menu. My wife's martini was reasonably priced and huge. princi opens for lunch and remains open through dinner. We will be back the next time we travel to Dallas.

Went on a sat night but only had a 15 min wait--seated on the patio which is less noisy but also had perfect weather for it!! Service is excellent--my cocktail of choice, a gin gimlet, was served in a martini glass, not on the rocks as I am accustomed--and it didn't taste right--the server returned it for me and I changed my order to a gin and tonic--not a biggie and they were very gracious in complying with my requests! I chose one of the pizzas--and was unprepared for the size!! Definitely needed a "doggy bag"!! Very delicious!! My friends enjoyed their salads and entrees also!!

We used to enjoy this neighborhood spot until my husband and I both became quite ill after our meal there. We shared an entry (chicken) and salad the evening before leaving town the next day. We both were ill for the entire weekend and trip and we were miserable. We contacted the restaurant manager since we knew the problem occurred there, however they did not seem to be interested and did not express any concerns. Unfortunately we will NOT be returning to this establishment again. Too bad since we've enjoyed it in the past.

While this spot clearly caters to "regulars", even your first visit will qualify you. Then menu is focused but not stifling. Ingredients are fresh and presented creatively -- but without ostentation. And, the service -- clinches the deal. Whether you are a neighborhood foody or a guest just passing through, you will enjoy this tucked away little spot that prides itself on homemade and handmade pastas, dishes, and desserts.

I Have been here many many times and there is a reason why of course, besides that is conveniently located near my house. The food is always amazing. I do of course have my favourite dishes. I love the spaghetti bolognese, the chicken picatta and the grilled red fish too. There are many more. Try the calamari or the cheese board with a friend along with some amazing wine selections is you just want to nibble. I enjoy sitting at the bar since I usually dine alone. They do have a couple of tv's and the bar is small but it is nice. I recommend going in early to get a seat. Best times are the slow times because you can really interact with the bartender or the manager and perhaps the chef as well to find out their recommendations. Do not ignore the special of the day. If they have mussels and you love them then please have them. I do not think you will be dissappointed. The barternders are awesome. Today, it was Amanda and she was very helpful and also sweet as well. She knows I enjoy the bar, I grabbed a small table and she let me know as soon as a spot opened up. :) They do not take reservations, at least that's what I heard the last time, so call and check first. If you come for dinner come early as in 6pm or 8:00-8:30 when dinner rush ends. I am sure they can work with you if you have a special event. Free parking and wi if is also available. They also have patio seating too. Enjoy and wish I could right more. Ask any questions if you need more info. Pizzas are also great, like really really.

Ordered the penne arrabiata. It was very bland. Honestly, it was just a basic meat sauce. Very disappointing. Small bowl and not served with any bread.

First time to eat here. Totally a random call on choosing it but glad we did. Thursday night at 6:30 and the 2 of us had to wait 30 minutes for a table so I figured it had to be good. I was right. Started with a flatbread bruschetta which was really really good! Served like a pizza. Then came my margarita pizza which had to be the thinnest crust pizza I’ve ever had! Excellent pizza. My daughter had the spaghetti bolegnese which she really liked as well. Service was ok at best. But what could have been the owner saved the day with a hands on table visit and dessert order. I really enjoyed the food here. Atmosphere very enjoyable too. If I lived here it would be on my list of regular places to eat.

The restaurant is a little hard to find from Preston Road (it's behind Chase Bank, next to AT&T on the NW corner of Royal/Preston). It's tucked into the far right corner on Royal facing West. They have a nice patio that was being worked on at the time I visited. We were greeted right away and seated in a cozy spot in the corner. They have a large wine wall and a brick oven. They don't have kids meals but they do have pizza/flatbread that they can eat. They have daily specials. The crab cake Friday special was delicious (although very small and some may find it non-filling). The Grilled Scottish Salmon was very good. The restrooms were very nice and clean. Great service. Nice restaurant. 12 year old - Shared an Italian Sausage Pizza 8 year old - Shared an Italian Sausage Pizza (minus the "green stuff")

I really like Princi Italia. I've taken many friends there knowing that the menu is varied enough that each will find something that they will enjoy. I also know the menu is not boring so I will find things that I will be eager to try. The drinks are good, well made, and interesting. The specials reflect seasonal products that are worth the trip! It is consistently good with good, attentive service.

Fun, relaxing neighbor place. The patio is perfect to enjoy the Fall weather. We had lemon drop martinis and pizza. It was all good. The wait staff was overloaded I felt for a Sunday evening. Maybe have more available in the future. We will return though.

This restaurant has charged hands but the food is still good. I can't remember the previous name but it was a "p" something as well. Fresh seafood selections, paired with pasta have been added and a more upscale flair.

We've not been here in awhile and not quite sure why. Our server Marco is really good the food is some of the best in Dallas chef Kevin is consistently very good Red fish is prepared very well this was a Wednesday so she had the chicken which I tasted and probably the best chicken meal in a restaurant.

In the last few months I've been to this restaurant twice. It's in such a popular spot and is always so busy that I assumed it must be fantastic. The decor is nice and the service has been good, but the food has disappointed me both times. Both times I've had a pasta and so has my husband. The first time I had a Pasta Primavera kind of dish and the pasta was a little al dente for me. The next time I had a pasta with sausage. The sausage was great, but the pasta was limp. Hubby ordered the marinara the first time, forgetting that marinara is meatless. The next time he chose Bolganese and was much happier. He even took my leftovers from the pasta and sausage and loved that. So he's a bigger fan of the food than I am. So we would go back if we were in the neighborhood, but we can't call it a favorite and I would abandon the pasta menu to try something else.

We’re 35 minutes past our reservation time with no tables in sight. This used to be one of our favorite places but it keeps going downhill. They used to not take reservations — they probably shouldn’t since they are incapable of managing them.

The food is excellent here with a nice menu to choose from. The wines are reasonably priced as well. The service last night was not perfect. Our server was very attentive to the two men at the next table and we became an occasional afterthought. We had to ask where our appetizer was and to have our orders taken. However, she was there to continually pour the wine at the next table.

We went for an early evening dinner on a Saturday, around 5:30pm. The restaurant was moderately busy on arrival but started filling quite quickly. It was a mixture of families (including with babies and young children) and couples. They only take reservations for groups of 9 or more. The menu focuses on basic groups such as pastas, pizzas, daily specials and regular dinner plates. There is enough variety on the menu to please most people; there is a range of dishes that could work for vegetarians, mostly among the flatbreads, salads, and pizza. The tomato and basil flatbread arrived puffy, hot and deliciously fresh straight from the wood-fired pizza oven. A great start to the meal with a glass of chilled Italian chardonnay (an Alto Adige, S. Tyrol). Also good was the calamari and shrimp with truffle aioli and marinara sauces - good flavor and nicely fried in a batter coating that managed to be crispy, dry and not greasy. Excellent main dishes were the veal chop Milanese (a special only available on Saturdays) and the gnocchi with Texas wild boar. The veal was served on the bone with the meat pounded out and flattened, breadcrumbed and fried beautifully into a perfectly cooked, very flavorful and generously sized portion of joy! Served with an ample fresh salad that complemented the veal very nicely. My companion's gnocchi with South Texas wild boar was a satisfying portion of light and smooth textured gnocchi with a gorgeously deep flavored and rich sauce studded with a good quantity of diced (not ground) boar. Dessert were unexciting but the French press coffee was pretty good. The service could do with some improvement. It took longer than it should to get initial attention - to the point of having to flag down a server to ask who was supposed to tending to my table - and thereafter was just about adequate but no better. The restaurant is located in a shopping center and easy enough to find. It is worth a 10-15 minute drive, not more.

I am so surprised that my last 3 visits to my neighborhood restaurant has been so bad. Twice I sent my food back because it was cold.... I have never done that before! Service was slow and management didn't seem concern when they approached me about the problem. Too bad. It used to be really good.

We happened to be in the neighborhood, and in our never ending quest to find decent Itailian food in Dallas thought we's give it a try. So glad we did! Surpased our expectations! Service a little spotty at first, but really picked up and became quite good. But the food was the star! My fetttucini del mare was excellent, as was the wine suggested by waitstaff. We had mussels that were also fantastic, as was the arrabiata sauce and chicken piccata. The raviloi was a pretty stingy portion, but still delicious. Saturday night, and it got pretty crowded, we were glad we came early. Will definately be back!

If the kitchen staff can not get a steak temperature right, it shouldn't be on the menu! I have never had to send my steak back 2 times in my entire life! First one was rock-hard burned over-well-done and then the 2nd one was super-rare cold cheap piece of meat. Our water never got refilled and rude waiters kept bumping to our chairs.

My friend and I enjoyed the atmosphere. The Christmas decorations were very beautiful. The food was delicious and served so attractively. Service was awesome.

Salads were great. Wood fired pizza excellent! Entree of salmon & asparagus very good. Did not like original wine selection & it was graciously changed

This is one of our standard go to places for Sunday brunch. However today fell woefully short. ordered eggs Benedict Milanaise. There wasn’t anything Milanaise about it. I will have to say the eggs were poached perfectly, no complaint whatsoever. However it was only a sliver of toast, No English muffin.. Needed much more to sop up the golden goodness of the egg yolk. Why there was not an English muffin I have no idea. There was a crabcake that didn’t look all that good so I didn’t eat it. I’m not sure why potatoes with onions constitute Tuscan potatoes but there you go. Again way short of salt. Our server also doubled as bartender and unfortunately the service was woefully neglectful. Never asked how is our meal going, do you need anything, etc. I will stick with the chicken and waffles with her absolutely delicious.

We discovered this restaurant when a close friend - who's also a chef - came to Dallas. D Magazine rated it one of the Top 10 New Restaurants for 2012. It's less than two miles from our home (about 6 quick miles from downtown Dallas). What a great surprise. This restaurant scored "A+" on all top categories - food, ambiance, service, friendliness, wine list - and more! We loved it so much that we returned in the same week and have been going ever since. Our chef friend (a graduate of the Culinary Institute in Poughkeepsie) loved everything she had (unusual).k Since they don't take reservations, we go before 7 and have no problems being seated. If you like exquisite sole, it's the special on Thursdays. I am partial to the pastas because they are made by the chef and are perfect.

From the outdoor dining to the very courteous waitstaff to the incredibly delicious beet and crab salad, my friend and I totally enjoyed our experience today.

I work for an Italian company, so I have been lucky enough to visit Italy a few times now. Prince italia is bar none the best Italian restaurant I have been to in the entire country! It is exactly like the food I have eaten in Italy.. my highest reccomendation!

My son and I visited on a rainy Monday night, and we still had a 15 minute wait. The place is that good. We each got a pizza and both said this was probably the best pizza we've had. Better than even Fireside Pies. The only negative is the noise level. We had to practically yell to talk to each other.

dinner with my husband, daughter who knows the chef very well, and granddaughter on a very busy Friday evening....the food was really good, the service adequate but the noise level nerve-wracking! we ordered 3 appetizers and one main course, chicken piccata which surprisingly not very good and the bill was $120 which was not worth the food and atmosphere...not going there again....

I ate there for Lunch a few days ago. The food and service were great. My only qualm was the wine selection. It seemed overly California friendly for an Italian place, but I hear that's the common rule in Texas. Other than that, it was a very nice experience. Would go back

Sunday brunch for four. We started with Bloody Mary's, exelentissimo. The brunch menu was excellent and provided the perfect variety of choices for all of us from eggs benedict to eggs milanese and an avocado omelet that satisfied all of us. We also had a grill chicken pizza with the combination of pears goat cheese and onions. Ray, manager, made sure that we were provided with the best service.

Food was good, busy place, great service, a little pricey for what you get. Worth trying if you are in the area.

New Year's Eve. My partner and I enjoyed the fig bruschetta, the Italian wedding soup, the four-cheese ravioli and the chicken piccata. All quite good. The Italian lime dessert was also quite good but super sweet. Service was quite relaxed but quite appropriate for the evening. The noise level was very tolerable. Worth a return visit.

We had a party of 11 for dinner and things could have gone better. We were seated in what probably what is an winterized outdoor dining area on a rainy night. As a result, the area was chilly until the space heaters had a chance to warm the area. Also, rain leaked in to the corners of the area. The food was mediocre. Two of the group returned their entrees to the kitchen because the pasta was too spicy, and one returned his wine because it was too vinegary. My pizza lacked flavor. There seemed to be rather long gaps in the time between courses, but it wasn't clear whether this was a general problem or a function of being a party of 11 on a night before a holiday.

Great neighborhood place for lunch or dinner! Small covered patio for eating outside when the weather is cool. Appetizer of tortellini fonduta with shaved black truffles is amazing, and a must try! Dinner entree was homemade pasta with traditional Sunday gravy. Wine list by the glass is good, by the bottle is even better. Great service without being rushed. Absolutely a local favorite that we will visit again!

It is a great lunch spot, casual atmosphere and no reservations needed, and service extends beyond the lunch hour through the afternoon. There is ample dining room and shaded outdoor patio seating. The tables are spaced to facilitate private conversations so an extended lunch with adult beverages is an option. Meal portions are smaller than the dinner ones, but the food choices are just as varied. I highly recommend this venue to meet an old friend to catch up or to discuss a business opportunity or to celebrate an achievement, a transition or planning a venture.

Greeted at door by beautiful, gracious hostess. Immediately seated, service was timely. Appetizers, entrees and desserts were delicious. Tiramisu not at all traditional, only disappointment. Did it keep us from eating it? No! Was still a yummy treat. Casual, relaxed atmosphere.

We ate here on a Sunday afternoon and had a mixture of brunch and lunch items. I had the Italian Scramble and it was very good. We also had two of the flatbreads and they were very good.
Worth a Trip
I visited this restaurant several months ago with a group of ladies when attending a business meeting in Dallas. We all agreed the food was excellent--we all had something different and not one of us was disappointed. I was so impressed that my husband and I returned last week prior to flying out of DFW. Once again, we were incredibly impressed. Our pasta dishes were fantastic--I had chicken meatballs and my husband had the four cheeses ravioli. I would highly recommend the pistachio gelato for dessert--superb! It is such a pleasure to find an excellent locally owned Italian restaurant that we will again make the 100 mile trip to eat here.
