Extensive German beer menu, reasonably priced and served in dedicated beer glasses. Great friendly vibe. Recommend the delicious smoked bratwurst with sauerkraut and mustard. Also be sure to order a couple pretzel appetizers with the cheese dip!

This is a Great place to meet friends and have a Good beer! I'm a stein club member and love the service. It's not really a restaurant but they do have some German style foods. On occasion the do have really good sandwiches. There are food carts surrounding the outstanding patio and the atmosphere is Awesome! Lots of locals, including myself, and plenty of flair!

On a warm Monday night in May we were able to sit outside drink great beer and eat great food. The main entree items are not huge servings, but with a cup (generously sized) of the soup of the day it was the perfect amount of food. One of our party was not a sauerkraut fan and had the pretzel sandwich and was very happy. The cucumber salad was just sliced cucumbers with an awesome dill dressing that was perfect for a warm day. Between 4 of us we tried 5 or so of the lighter varities of beer and all were refreshing and great tasting. It did get crowded later in the evening and we were told the weekends are pretty packed, so arrive early if you want to sit and eat.

This is a great place, especially in the summer months. They have a great atmosphere. There is an indoor and outdoor bar and both the beer and the food are very good. I like to try different beers so I always ask the server about what they would recommend and I am rarely steered in the wrong direction. I have tried about half if their limited menu and not had a bad meal. If you are not a German food fan you can bring food in from one of the many food carts that share the lot (just need to order a beer while eating the food from the carts). Great way to spend a summer afternoon. Plus the people watching is fun as it is located in an eclectic Portland neighborhood.

We were looking for a lunch place when we found Prost! in a cool area of Portland. We lived in German many years ago and always love finding a German restaurant. It is next to a lot with food trucks, and the restaurant has a very nice deck with tables. Customers can buy a good German beer and food from the trucks parked there, or have a German meal. We opted for the wurst from Prost! and it was very good. The menu is limited, but as they had Bitburger beer (my husband's favorite) and all we wanted was a light lunch, that was fine with us. Nice atmosphere, friendly wait staff, good wursts and beer. Can't ask for more than that!

On a lovely sunny afternoon, we met friends on the dog-friendly outside patio. You can order great German food from Prost or from the variety of food vendors - it's ok! I order the Bier cheese soup - yum! Then stole bites of the fresh pretzel from my friend. We ordered a huge plate of cheese, bread & sausage to share. A chicken jumped on the fence behind us to stop and say hello. Good times with good friends!

This is home! I couldn't and still can't get enough of this German beer restaurant! The food was on par and the drinks... Not big enough! I've never been to an Oktoberfest but I have a feeling of be over the moon in love! So I got the classic bratwurst with kraut and mustard, now I'm not a dill fan nor do I like pickles but this yellow stuff was, just perfect. Maybe I had too much to drink (we hit up two other places prior). We ordered the "deal" for beer, a GIANT Stein filled with Benidiktiner Hells Lager.... Drool. It was paired so well with the food I just .... Can't deal with the memories and not actually being there at this moment. So besides the main dinning place AND GERMAN everything. They do rent out the back of their lot to 18(there's more) different food carts so you don't just have to have hotdogs and beer ;) check out the Prost website for a complete list. Overwhelming and yet so much fun and packed with more people than I care for... It was awesome! You also need to take pictures in the bathroom! Haahaa Don't just take me (drunk) words! Go! Eat! Get out and have a blast (mind your manners too)

Stopped for an afternoon snack. Lots of German Beers to choose from. Also tried the German Beer Cheese soup and Pretzl. Very good. You can also bring in food from the food trucks located beside the pub. Lot to choose from. Service was ok.

Not trying many German beers in my lifetime, and being a devotee of IPAs, I was uneducated about the beers offered at Prost. Luckily, my server was used to answering silly questions, and did so kindly, and without snark, and directed me to a couple of fine brews. They were pretty mellow compared to my typical fare, but still tasty. The food was typical German fare, and reminded me of what I had at a beer bar in the Czech republic-- sausages, pickles and bread. My curry wurst was $6.50, and my friend had a bratwurst sandwich for $7. I didn't consider the food or the beer overpriced as another reviewer stated. Really cool atmosphere with large outdoor seating area adjacent to food carts. I recommend it as part of a Mississippi Ave beer tour!

Love this place! Cozy little German bier joint. Have a pretzel with mustard, yum! Authentic wood interior wood decor. Bench tables (Munich style). Outdoor bier garden. Get enough punches on your beer card and you'll get a t-shirt, mug or even your name on a chair. If your on the East side of Portland, this place is a must visit.

We stumbled into Prost and were amazed. My favorite beer Celebrator was on tap! Ordered a cheese and sausage plate that was delightful.

This place looks like a decent place to hang out for adults, but kids are not allowed, not even on the patio. We ordered 3 pretzels to go and they were a little pricey. The sauces were just poured on the bottom of the box and aside from the mustard and cheese, I couldn't figure out what the third sauce was.

I used to love this place. But today I gave my card to an incompetent waitress to run a tab. When I went to cash out she told me she had cashed somebody else out with my card AND gave them the card. So I have no card, and no idea where it is. Their response? They're going to "retrain" the waitress. Meanwhile I have to cancel the card and spend HOURS changing all the automatic payments attached to the card. DO NOT GIVE YOUR CARD TO THESE PEOPLE TO RUN A TAB!! You will regret it.

Prost is housed in a great old stand alone building on Mississippi - a super neighborhood shopping area in N Portland (corner of Skidmore and Mississippli). They are known for their German beer. That is what we had served by a super friendly waitress. We were joined by the bar manager, a perky, knowledgeable pro at what she does. Lots of locals hang out here and watch games. The Timbers were playing so it was a lively crowd and fun. The menu looked quite good - German oriented and Bier!

Received my credit card bill from Prost. An employee added a 2$ tip to my 3.50$ coffee. I had already left a cash tip, but, even if I hadn't , this is fraud. I do not leave a 60% tip on a coffee.

Went here with some friends to get the Das Boot! It was a fun experience. The stools we sat in were labeled with names of people (McAngry Pants!). You need to have at least 3 people to get the boot just FYI. We tried some of their appetizers as well. The service is awesome, the beer is even better! I like that we were able to grab some food from the trucks and bring it inside. I'll be back again

Prost is a super fun and chill bar. The beer is great (all German--a favorite among my friends is Franziskaner Weissbier), the pretzels are good, and in the summer their porch can't be beat. They're also connected to a little food-cart plaza and, as long as you buy a beer or two, you can bring the cart food onto the porch. Their location at the top of bar-filled Mississippi Ave. also makes it a great starting place for bar crawls.

we returned to prost for a beer and the food carts....i had a german lager and my partner had a dunkel dark beer.....both were great, the sun was out...the staff was exceptional as always...she is real friendly.....the deck and interior is so cozy.... .thx so much again....

Great staff! Welcomed like we lived in this small neighborhood. German bar food was great. Must have the Lanjager.

Excellent if you just want good German food and beer. Great 'pop-in' type of place. The sausages are great, as was the pretzel.

German pub atmosphere. Large beer menu. Service was friendly. Good place to get a beer, but nothing special

Stopped here after picking up some food at the food carts next door- you can bring your food here to eat if you order a beer. Sat outside on the patio with our dog. Our server was very knowledgeable and explained the beers. One of the other servers came and brought a bowl of water for our dog as it was quite hot- great service! Glad we came for a little taste of Portland's food trucks and beer!

It's a tiny place, with a decent outdoor seating area. The menu is light... Mostly sandwiches and snack items. We had the sausage sampler and the beer cheese soup and braunschweiger plate. It was all excellent! And, are time was made easier the ability to play a cribbage game as we waited for food. A great local hangout, and totally worth the trip if you're in the area and looking for some tasty German beer and a snack.

The staff at Prost (or at least our waitress) are *very* knowledgeable about German beer. They have some pretty cool stuff that's not easy to find elsewhere and an authentic atmosphere. Smaller pours (300mL) are available if you want to try a bunch of different offerings without staggering out the door later.

I'm a big fan of German weissbier so I was happy with the reasonably priced German brew...it gets crowded even on weekends but the bartenders are attentive and friendly...great spot for a drink

I came into this establishment for a few beers and was impressed with its selection. The staff was very nice and they had some good German foods (bratwurst, etc). I am sure they have good food but out back they have several food trucks. They will allow you to bring your food in so long as you are a paying customer.

Great authentic German beer and ambience. The outdoor beer garden was bustling and reminded me of my time in Germany. I only wish Jagerschnitzel was on the menu. I will be back for more beer in the future.

Had to wait for my oldest son, so my youngest and I picked a nice table by the door, where we could watch people going by. Seems like a lot of weird people out there and especially right in front of this place. It was quite interesting. I had some kind of fruity non-alcoholic drink. It was very German there. MANY beers on tap as well as bottled. I can't imagine figuring out which was the best, but that is probably the idea of drinking beer; try to figure out which you like best, and take your time.

Awesome spot with great beer and atmosphere......dope! check it out, because they serve large liters with options of half liters and .3L, friendly staff and really cool bar too and foods tasty! Get a pretzel or bratwurst.

Prost is a great place to enjoy some German beer in a relaxed environment. It can get very crowded, so if you get there early, just perch and enjoy people watching. They offer the "Boot", so if you feel adventurous give it a try.

My old high school friend took me to this place as it serves great German beers and decent wursts. We sat outside as we had our two dogs with us. It was after the Germany-Brazil World Cup match and somewhat crowded. We joined two guys at a long table. It took quite a while to get the server's attention. I had two German beers and a curry wurst plate. It was presented well and served with a small slice of rye bread. We waited for drink refills and even longer for our bill. It's a pricy place, but if you just want to enjoy a wide selection of German beers, this is a decent place.

We love any sort of German style bar, so I knew we had to stop by Prost when we were in Portland. They have a great selection of German beer and the pretzel is one of the best we've ever had! The beer cheese soup was absolutely delicous and also worked well as dip for the pretzel! I wish we would've had more time there because this is just the type of place where we would hang out all the time if we lived in the area. Fantastic prices too! I would love to go back next time we're in Portland.

You can do a lot better, and drink local brews just blocks away. The food here is no better than what you would get from a hot dog vendor at a stdium, and the beer is overpriced.

We had a great time hanging out here. The beers are on the more expensive side and the food was just okay. We really like this place because of the outdoor seating and atmosphere and less for the beers and food.

I love the fact they serve the different styles of beers in the proper glasses. They had many great beers to choose from. Many of the menu items could be found in a restaurant in Germany. The food fell short, though. But it did contribute to the "full experience" of eating in Germany (i.e. brats, pretzels, sauerkraut).

Really welcoming pub style bar serving German beers and food exclusively. About 8 interesting German beers on tap. Friendly staff and they let you bring in food from the food trucks next door if you want. Best bar I visited in the neighbourhood.

The variety and quality of Beer selection is outstanding. That's why you go there. If you take a snack, it's Not perfect and also not really German or Bavarian. But it's Not the priority. Servers are really cool and friendly. Unfortunately I will Not be able to punch my Card furthermore. Hope to come back soon to do so.

Our nephew was in town and suggested we go here for conversation and a light lunch. It was a great choice. The beer is great - lots of German beers served in traditional German glassware and typical German food. We enjoyed the freshly made pretzels and shared a platter of meat, cheese, pickles, mustard, radishes and bread. They also allow you to bring in food from the adjacent food cart pod. They have nice outdoor seating and the inside is also nice.

Stopped by last weekend looking for a little Oktoberfest atmosphere, and although we missed the actual celebration by a week, still had a great experience. The choice of German beers is awesome, and the menu, although limited, offered excellent food at a very reasonable price. Couple that with friendly service and comfortable surroundings, its definitely a winner. They also allow you to bring food in from the food cart pod right behind the patio, if for some reason, you don't care for German fare. Thumbs up to the beer cheese soup!

Not welcoming. Not warm. Not friendly. I am a football fan (soccer) and they claim to be a bar that features football but they are not. Just a bit too self conscious and the worst of what happens when "hipster" takes over. The Mississippi district has changed and not for the better. The barmaid was pleasant enough but I wouldn't call her friendly...she wouldn't put sound on a EPL game because they don't do sound for anything but Timbers game....strange but she said only a manager could change the music and there wasn't a manager available. There were only two of us in the bar at 12 noon and we were drinking and watching the game! We both left at half time,(not together) and went looking for a more friendly spot to watch the game. I will not be back there.

outstanding menu for lunch. Great German food and beers. Charming atmosphere with vintage wall decor. Outdoor dining on large attractive deck.

Prost is a really fun spot in a cool neighborhood of Portland. On a sunny afternoon in the summer, it's pretty tough to beat. With great German beer and food, a convivial atmosphere and a nice outdoor deck/seating area, it's a fun place to be. They have "das boots" as well if you want a large beer to share (or even for yourself!). There are also food trucks parked right next door, not sure if they are always there, but that gave us even more options for food which we brought right into the bar. Highly recommended!

On the positive side: very pleasant and attentive service, and excellent wurst, pickles, sauerkraut and beer. On the less than positive side: mediocre rye bread (pale, more American than European) and rather odd pretzel (the consistency was more like a croissant). Plus, portions were fairly small (especially for the price). Also, we sat inside on a cold and wet Portland day, and it was uncomfortably cool (we kept our jackets on).

A friend recommended this place. We have all lived in Germany and miss the Bier Garten experience along with really good food and beer. This place more than delivered. Outstanding currywurst, authentic mustard and amazing bread bonus - dog friendly. Friendly owner and staff.

We enjoyed the atmosphere and the excellent bier. We were less impressed with the food. The brat and sauerkraut were basic and luke warm. and the bread and pretzel seemed less than authentic. I would like to try this place again when the weather is warmer. The beer garden looked very inviting and is probably much more fun than the inside dining.

When I travel, I always look to see if there is any German food in the area, because I am a big fan and there is nothing where I live. I found Prost on-line but ruled it out, since it was so far from downtown. As luck would have it, one of my colleagues had also heard about it from a bartender and so we went there for lunch on our way back into the city. It was a gorgeous summer day and so we sat outside on the deck. The beer and the food were simply terrific – ausgezeichnet! And absolutely authentic. It was tempting to stay and enjoy the atmosphere, but after two beers we had to get going. I wish Prost were in my neighborhood!

It wasn't busy and the weather was lovely. The Bitburger Pilsner, Aldersbacher Kloster Weisse Dunkel and Gaffel Kölsch we had were delicious. I like the look of the inside and could see it being a nice stop on a rainy day. We did not get a chance to sample the food trucks but love the idea. The server was nice but I think she had the whole place to look after so we did wait awhile. It wasn't an issue for us being on a holiday and were very comfortable sitting for a spell. If you like bier, I think it is a must do when visiting Portland. We enjoyed cycling there and strolling down Mississippi Ave. There is a convenient Biketown station near.

We landed in Portland and our first experience was an afternoon spent at Prost. The German food was a nice surprise. The patio was wonderful and the fact that the food trucks were behind the patio was a nice bonus. Loved the neighborhood and wish I was back there right now.

Meta-group of friends here for an afternoon bite and visit. Had the sandwich of the day which was a brioche bun with turkey and pickled cucumbers and cheese and mustard is delicious. Also had a pretzel and the soup of the day which was a butternut blackbean spicy but delicious. The location is great and features a sunny deck and ample seating inside.

Stopped in on the recommendation of the clerk at Enterprise when I rented my vehicle, and was not disappointed. Great selection of German beers, Bulleit Bourbon behind the bar, and the staff was super friendly. I ordered the pretzel app which was exactly how a pretzel in Bavaria would taste, next up the Pork & Sauerkraut, both delivious, but I prefer a tenderloin type cut as opposed to a ham type pork in this type of traditional dish. Flavors were still there, and I enjoyed every bit of it.

Great spot if you like all things German. Excellent selection of German food and beer. a fun punch card beer drinking reward program. Drink more and get rewarded. great vibe and outdoor patio to enjoy a libation.

Enjoyed a curry dog with a nice refreshing pint of beer. Dog friendly on the patio out back and they had a bowl of water out on the hot day. A must stop for the beer lover that doesn't enjoy hops.

Having been to Prost a few different times, I can tell you that this place is bomb. The beers here are so delish. Whats better than German beer? German beer on tap! They also have some great German food snacks. The staff is always really chill and ready for your questions about the beers. The atmosphere is dark in a cozy way and they have a great patio for when the weather is nice. They also have a punch card that gets you prizes when you fill the whole thing out. My favorite part, if you have three or more people, is that you can get your beer in "the boot". I can't wait to go back, seriously this place is the best.

Excellent selection of German brews and you have to have a soft pretzel with the sides! Amazing! Sat at the bar with a business associate and proceeded to have two great beers and then head down Mississippi St. to wander. Awesome atmosphere as well. It will take you forever and a day though to get your brass name plate on the wall. Haha.

I feel lucky to have been able to try this place. It gave me a feeling of normalcy during these weird pandemic times. The service was fantastic, the bier was delicious, and the company I met, as a solo traveler for work, was the best part.

we are entertaining guests from out of state and wanted them to experience prost. we began with dunkel pint, a pilsner, and a sailor jerry rum with pepsi. next we had the gurken salat with dill dressing. next we went to the food carts in the pod next door, and began with a camus crepe, at the crepe cart, tofu taco at koi fusion, a beef bulgoki burrito, and the last person had biscuits and gravy from the southern cart. all were tasty, and comforting on a cold day. the server was friendly, efficient, and we always love 1877 building with all the windows. love coming here....

All round good time was had at Prost! We ordered the giant boot beer to share and it was a fun novelty. Good beer, pretzel, sausage, atmosphere and people!

Went to Prost with some work colleagues. Fantastic selection of German beers. It's a neighbourhood bar, fantastic atmosphere, definitely worth a visit if you are in Portland.

I was going to meet a friend at Prost after work and got there before him. Sat down at the bar, ordered a beer, and proceeded to wait. I was wrapping up my first beer and was told that I was done for the evening. I asked could I get another beer and was told, "no, I told you, you are done" with zero explanation. I will not ever go back, maybe that was the point, and will divert my dollars to other establishments. I recommend you too also avoid this place due to the surly staff and overpriced beer with better craft beer down the street brewed right here in Portland by local beer makers. Makes me think to buy local more often to support better establishments.
Prost is fun!
We stopped in for a beer on a hot day and ended up staying for over 2 hours. German beer selection is great. We had Paulaner Octoberfest and German pretzels with a variety of mustards. The fresh beet salad and bratwurst were great. You can always go outside and there are food trucks available as well.
