Great deep fried foods

By Mark B |

A hipster hangout with great service. The deep fat fried brussels sprouts and french fries were superb. Went for brunch. Not for those watching their cholesterol. The fried chicken had an excellent crust, but was overcooked. It came with excellent fried biscuits with a honey like exterior. The baked eggs with fennel sausage came to the table extremely hot and couldn’t be touched, once cooled down was covered with 1/8 inch of grease, was in edible. The P&K hamburger ordered rare came medium well. Deep fat fried apple turnovers were wonderful, as was the olive oil fennel cake. If you order well, you could have a very pleasant meal here.

Good service, fun atmosphere

By wick1979 |

Waitress was alot of fun, very energetic and over the top but in a great way. Went through the specials, beer choices and here favorite. Started with the blood sausage, one of the best ones I have had in a while, buscuit was very almost excessively dry. Main courses were short ribs and there other special the pork chop. Both were great. Location is a little small, but moves through people quite well, we got sat after enjoying a beer at the bar, seating is intimate if you dont get a booth. Parking in the area is impossible, and the restaurant is hard to find cause it has no markings.

Fun place & great weekend brunch

By KodoDrummer |

The place is popular and reservations recommended. The restaurant specializes in serving burgers and Euro-American cuisine. Food was very good, but it came out in an odd order with appetizers and entries being mixed up. But I understand that sometimes orders are sometimes delivered when the food is ready, and some mains take less time to prepare than appetizers. Other than that, the waitress was attentive and saw to our requests. Great brunch spot. My favourite is the apple fritters.

Good food, good service, friendly bartenders

Yet another nice little neighborhood bar in the Graduate Hospital district. Good salads, nice sandwich menu, and some creative drinks. Always get great service in a friendly atmosphere.

Nice Patio, Great Service

By MolAndMik |

Pub and Kitchen has a great bistro feel with lots of small candlelit tables lined up along the sidewalk outside. It is a great place to have a glass of wine and enjoy a warm night. The food is good but nothing to rave about. The salmon was moist but without much flavor. The hangar steak on the other hand was flavorful and delicious but served cold. The service was fast and the wait staff were attentive and able to answer all of our questions about the menu. Would go back but maybe not for dinner....

Fun, delicious meal!

By Cathy L |

Perfect restaurant, especially during Covid. Everything we ate was yummy. We sat outside under heaters and were comfortable at night. The staff was extra friendly. I’ll go back on my next trip!!

Comfortable and welcoming

Nice happy hour with several choices of cocktails, wine and a featured draft beer. Half price oysters too!

Gives You What You Want, Beautifully

By Ronald K |

I had a glorious Happy Hour at Pub & Kitchen. I think their oysters are better than those at Sansom Street Oyster House, though they are twice the price, $2. a piece and more after 6pm. This time, however, they brought us twelve oysters with mignonette already on it. This is a vinegar shallot dressing also provided on the side at The Oyster House. I didn’t like it one bit. I want my oysters sparkling fresh and utterly unsullied. I didn’t like the taste of the first one, convinced my partner not to like it either, didn’t like it one bit, and they took it away and brought, after a further little while, a fresh plate of East-Coast oysters without mignonette or anything at all, just a lemon nearby. It was heavenly. I had several Moscow mules and came to think what a perfect restaurant this is. Then, just before 6pm when Happy Hour ends, I ordered the cheeseburger. It too was excellent, with specially tasty french fries. This is the friendliest, most accommodating venue I know in town. We were three, and it was superb at $100.

Nice neighborhood gem

By lhamilt77 |

My husband is new to the Fitler Square area and we were driving around trying to find a place to eat dinner at about 10p and came across Pub and Kitchen. Apparently the Tuesday before Thanksgiving every year they have a country theme. Everything from music, to menu, to drinks. Heads up, the restaurant is hipster headquarters. But the food was incredibly tasty and thoughtful. I tried the gumbo inspired mussels and sausage with a very tasty bread dip worthy broth. My husband gushed over the fried chicken. Note: both items I believed were only available on that specific day. Ambiance was a bit loud downstairs. Cocktails were delish though! Will definitely be back again.

Superb burger

By #LUHG |

Went with friends who are from NJ and were recommended this place, my wife & I had the burger which is definitely in the top 3 burgers we've ever had, our friends had the rabbit meatballs & the open pork sandwich both enjoyed theirs however the rabbit was a very small portion in comparison to the other dishes. Good selection of beers too however the only negative was the noise as it's very loud in there.

Mixed feelings for this one

By MsLisaS |

Our experience here is mixed. The restaurant was nice, the service superb. Our menu choices are another story. Definitely an eclectic menu. I decided to try the loaf bread with honey butter as our appetizer. It was so fresh and steaming hot when we cut into it! The honey butter spread was fantastic. However, I decided not to get a full entree and ordered a chop chop salad. It was.....interesting. I'm not sure the description matched what I expected. I expected more greens and not just some chopped veggies and apples over hummus and only a few sprigs of greens. I only ate half. It was so dark in there that i wasnt quite sure what I was forking most of the time. Hubby ordered a chicken dish and seemed pleased with it. Overall though, for the cost, we weren't that satisfied. Like I said, a mixed review.

Excellenct service and value, great food.

By Stan_Cooper |

I was 100% satisfied with every aspect of my experience at Pub & Kitchen. My selections included oysters for happy hour, arugula salad, pulled pork sandwich, and black truffle terrine. The food was all awesome. The beer was good. The service was excellent. I showed up rather early in the evening on a Monday, so I'm not sure how one would fare later on a weekend seeing as how they don't take reservations, but I highly recommend this restaurant.

Great cocktails

By Vinojam |

Great cocktails, excellent food, welcoming staff and locals! Travis made the best New York Sour I’ve had in Philly. Oysters, roasted pork sandwich, chopped salad, pierogies…all fabulous!

Probably will go down in my history

By Adrienne724 |

As one of top ten terrible meals. The atmostphere is great and so is the service.. but oh, the food- Greasy oversalted brussel sprouts topped with dry chewy yellow cheese, floating in oil. cheeseburgers with dry oversalted chips, christmas ail dark and bitter tasting. Left with a nasty greasy taste in my mouth, despite drinking jugs of water to wash it all away. Go for a drink- just dont touch the food!

Overpriced

By NittanyLion70 |

It's a bar that serves food with a very limited menu. I had the fried chicken for $27 and my wife had the trout. I thought it was a bit pricey.

Great Food in a Pub Atmosphere

By wholden |

I was in Philadelphia for a few days and someone in our group did their research to find this little gem. The food was really good and the atmosphere was exactly the casual style we were looking for. We started with the honey and buffalo wings, then had the beet and apple soup (fantastic!), and then I finished with the duck, which was really good. If I am ever back in town, I will certainly be back.

Great 'pubby' kind of restaurant with excellent food, drinks, and service, and a 'neighborhood' feel

By Marsha P |

Pub & Kitchen at 1946 Lombard (20th & Lombard --- NOT 19th) is a bit idiosyncratic. Its name appears almost nowhere on the premises; not on an outdoor sign or awning; not even on its menus. My first reaction was that this was a terrible oversight by management. Now, I think it is deliberate and clever -- with an undeniable measure of risk thrown in. I think they are counting on their trade remembering the unforgettable food, drinks and service. The name of the joint will be along for the ride. My wife and I are recent transplants to Center City Philadelphia and we were looking for a small, somewhat out-of-the-way place for Fathers' Day, sans kids and grandkids. Marsha read a review by her pop-star connoisseur Craig LeBan, who rarely steers us wrong. He gives Pub & Kitchen high marks, and we wholeheartedly concur. The place is right on the southeast corner. Don't look for the name or any signage -- other than a big pig on an awning. We only knew we were in the right place because the fare listed on the menu that was on display, comported with the things we had read about in LeBan's column. The place is dark, a bit narrow -- like most neighborhood bars, and noisy, but fun. Sort of a cross between a South Philly bar and an English pub. People are friendly, and a bit of conversation from table to table just sort of happens. We started with drinks -- Marsha, a Moscow Mule -- and I ordered the Penicillin. If you like really good, smoky scotch, are are not too snooty to try it in a mixed drink, order one some hot day. You'll enjoy it. Marsha followed with a cold, zucchini soup -- also nice for a hot day, and I had a half-dozen marvelous, big, succulent, sweet Emerald Shoals oysters -- expertly shucked. I don't take this for granted at all. I love oysters, but unfortunately have suffered with lots of lousy ones at restaurants large and small alike. This is the sort of plate you wait for - always knowing it is a roll of the dice. If I hadn't already ordered by Double Windsor Burger, I would have ordered another twelve. The Double Windsor Burger was, again, one of LeBan's several recommendations -- two thin patties topping crispy iceberg lettuce, and a marvelous sauce of Pub & Kitchen's own invention. Not too much; not to scanty; just right. Oh! And it comes with ultra-thin shoe-string fries -- done crispy, golden-brown -- and more than enough to share. The only disappointment of the evening was that Marsha missed their featured soft-shell dish. The season just ran out. And so Marsha ordered the scallops which she loved and recommends. I didn't try them. I have to put in a word for the wait-staff and at the same time I am kicking myself because I do not remember the name of the young lady who served us. She -- and all those that I saw there -- were young, attractive, friendly, and cool to be around. There is nothing stuffy about Pub & Kitchen.

Center City Restaurant

By Mary K |

We had dinner there midweek. It was busy but we were seated quickly. Service was excellent. Good selection of craft beer and wines. Our group had salmon, chicken, steak and burger. Very good, reasonable pricing. Would visit again.

When can I get back to Philadelphia?

By Debbie C |

Great little place! Walked there from hotel without reservations, were seated quickly (after being told 20 minute wait). Nice beer selection on tap. Burgers were really tasty. Waiter said they cook to medium however when I asked for medium rare, they complied beautifully. Yummy fries, too! Small tables outdoors are enjoyable on a summer evening. Would go back again when in Philly!

Casual and relaxing

By Otdeb |

We had a nice pre-concert meal here. Seems like a lot of locals go to sit at the bar. Loved the home baked bread on the appetizer list even though it was pricey.

Great vibe, great burger

By Hayley O |

The burger may be the best I've ever had. Cool, comfortable place that is perfect for a lazy afternoon on the weekend. Great find!!

Not my cup of tea

By cmr57 |

This place is really for the 20-something set. If you go, try to make a reservation, we had a 45 minute wait on a weekday evening. Had multiple drinks and appetizers at the crowded bar while waiting. Nice selection of beers, cocktail I had (One of These Nights) was just okay. By the time we were seated for dinner, we weren't really hungry anymore so decided to split the PK Burger, since everyone raved about it. It came out surprisingly quickly, but maybe that was because instead of the medium burger we ordered, it was rare from the first bite. We were not about to send it back, since we had waited so long to be seated. It was just okay. Be warned though, it's small - more like a cross between a normal burger and a slider. This would've been perfect for 1 with an appetizer. Speaking of appetizers, the brussel sprouts were delish! Maybe being seated next to a woman f-ing angry at the world, skewed our experience. Maybe if we didn't have to wait 45 minutes to be seated in a near empty dining room. Our server seemed more interested in setting up the empty tables than taking our order. The bartenders were wonderfully attentive - we should have eaten our meal at the bar.

food excellent

By Newman |

Funky neighborhood. Cool place. Food good. We were in mood for upbeat crowded, small restaurant and this is perfect. Loud music, friendly service. Good experience.

Great food, good prices

By ssarmazi |

I had the Churchill burger with fries, my friends had the pulled pork. We all raved about our food! And then, the lemon loaf for dessert...heavenly!

They love food & it shows!

By Wilhelmenia |

Good noisy bar, but come early, sit outside. They love food & really shows!

Friendly service, first-rate beer, nice food; LOUD on a Saturday night

By S F |

A good choice if you are in the neighborhood, but unless you have a high tolerance for noise (patron's voices as well as canned music), stay clear on a Saturday night. If you do go, you should be very happy with the beer, the service, and the nicely diverse menu, well prepared.

Really, really good food

By Elizabeth Q |

Found this completely by accident but we were so incredibly lucky! We had a fabulous waiter, sat outside on a gorgeous day and had one of the best Bloody Marys ever!! We then ate our way through a smoked duck Benedict (yum), Philadelphia's best double cheeseburgers and fried chicken on a biscuit. Wish we had had room for dessert.

Great Brunch

By RB Karl |

Enjoyed the Chicken Gravy & Biscuits and one of the best burgers in Philly. I am a big Village Whiskey fan, but the Pub & Kitchen burger may win the overall taste test. Will be back to try other menu items, but that burger was crazy good. They also take reservations for brunch - nice!

Don't go here for the poorly executed and pretentious food. Pleasant spot in the city for a drink...,

By Travelsinner |

We came here to eat as it was rated highly on various travel sites and for the traditional English pub menu. Sadly no fish and chips, no standard pub fare of any sort. Instead, tv-reality inspired and poorly cooked food from a chef with misplaced pretensions of Michelin star glory. I had a cheesburger, the closest/ only item on the menu which you might find in a pub. Overcooked, dry and tasteless. More than double the price of a burger from shake shack in central manhattan yet inedible. Dining companions sampled the chewy languid quail, misrepresented chunky chips and undersea done squid. Save your money, go to Burger King for food. Come here for a drink and the atmosphere.

Cramped and overpriced

By Nicole R |

My friends and I agree: this place is overpriced. I had a snack right before my friends asked me to join them here so I got the burrata beet salad. It was $12 and the smallest salad I've ever seen. Even worse, it tasted like a salt lick. (I had asked if it was possible to have the sauce on the side, but that wasn’t possible, as the beets are marinated in the sauce.) However, my friends had the pork chop with pork fried rice, which they loved and our waitress was great. The menu isn’t too extensive, especially if you’re trying to avoid a calorie bomb. I also found the restaurant quite uncomfortable due to how many tables are packed in the space.

The "leaning tower" of perfection.

By mcacw |

Don't let the facade steer you away, this pub compliments its kitchen with a gourmet menu. To start our meal we had the grilled artichokes. Their presentation left no surprises...grilled baby artichokes with a glaze generously poured over the board left our mouth watering. Now the burger was not just a "pub" burger, it was actually comprised of 2 burgers cascading amongst a brioche roll. This restaurant was ridiculously delicious!!

My favorite place to visit in Philly

By Barbara D |

I moved to Charlotte, NC from Philadelphia, and make it back to visit a few times a year. My favorite place to visit is Pub & Kitchen. The food is delicious (fish and chips with mushy peas is my favorite!), and seasonal (unbelievable spring salad with fresh peas and mint), the staff are knowledgeable and attentive, and the ambiance is cozy and comfortable. And they have a great beer selection and good wine list. It is more than a neighborhood gem! If you visit, there is no sign, look for the large painted mural of a combination rabbit & pig on the wall of the restaurant, as well as the outdoor tables.

This is such a cozy bar...

By Jennifer H |

This is such a cozy bar. I love the renovations. Great wine list and the burger is my new favorite (sorry Good Dog).

Nice Neighborhood Charm

By jeanmariepagani |

Went to Pub and Kitchen for dinner on a rainy night. Great ambiance. Nice bar. The menu is small with no specials so I would not advise unless you check out the daily menu beforehand especially if you have a group with picky eaters. The food was fresh but definitely only average. Our waitress was fabulous!

Good burger, average service

By James L |

We went on a Monday evening and had a couple of burgers. The food was good and plentiful, but the service was a bit lacking- there werent many people in the dining room, so not sure why.

Great gastropub food!

By 2020worldtraveler2020 |

Really enjoyed a family dinner at Pub and Kitchen (which we thought was Pig and Rabbit). Fish and chips were light and flaky; pasta was solid; salad was tasty, fish was good, and the beer was great. We also liked the ice cream sandwich cookie. And the staff was wonderful. We'd come back!

Great people ,place ,food!

By Craig P |

Just came back from a great dinner tonight. The food was great staff wonderful and decor great. Burgers were great, as well was the patty melt and the pastas. Will definetly be back!

Hidden Gem - excellent food

By PrincessFang |

After finishing up a beer tour we needed a good place to eat. This was a block or two from where we were but from the name and the exterior, I wasn't expecting much. I was so wrong! The food was outstanding. As I ate it, I really thought that this might be the best dinner I've ever had! I had the tune with pine nuts and grilled cauliflower. The place is small, a little wait but great atmosphere. I recommend this instantly to anyone.

Scrumptuos brunch

By eastcoastbb |

It was hard to pick a favorite of all the dishes we tried for brunch. The fried chicken was outstanding, The smoked trout omelette was perfect and the bread board including the apple fritters were TO DIE FOR! The biscuits were the best I've ever had.

Will definitely go back

By E K |

Clean corner bar/restaurant. Staff is really friendly, food was delicious, prices aren’t bad. Wings in honey whiskey sauce are fabulous! Great place to grab a drink and food.

Bummer...

By PChocolat |

Started ok...Fried green tomatoes were pretty good. Unfortunately, the main courses took too long to arrive and we had to listen to the earsplitting talk from the booth next to us. And when the food did arrive I received a steak instead of the wahoo I'd ordered. I didn't want to sit there and wait for a replacement so I tried the steak. It was mushy and too rare. Other items ordered were the shrimp and the hamburger and fries. The fries were the best thing we ate. The shrimp were overcooked and relatively devoid of flavor. Service was strange, too. We were twice interrupted by our server and asked to hand over the water bottle so our glasses could be filled. Better to just leave us alone and let us serve ourselves...Also better not to interrupt and ask for a plate as soon as somebody finishes eating. Good rosé from Languedoc but miserly serving of draft beer...

Great staff, great food, great atmosphere

By omni81 |

Great neighborhood bar with friendly staff, delicious food and atmosphere. Tends to get crowded on the weekends but don't let that stop you, there are cozy booths in the back!

Have to have the burger

By mdtinos |

The person we had a business meeting with recommended we meet here for dinner. Restaurant is definitely local establishment and a gem of the city. The wings and gnocchi we ordered as appetizers we just amazing and great tasting. What Pub and Kitchen is known for and absolutely lives up to its reputation is the P&K burger. If you try this restaurant this is a must order. Appreciated the waiter let us know it is best the order the burger medium because of the size of the patties. I've had plenty of burgers in my life and I can easily say this was one of the best ones I have ever had! The fries that come as the side are just excellent. Our waiter was friendly, attentive and just did a great job. If you're looking for a local place in the city and want really good food make this place a stop.

Unique menu, great service

By rara8698 |

First of all, I love the name of this restaurant. My boyfriend & I were visiting Philly this past weekend and his friend took us here for brunch. We sat outside, which was really nice. I loved that the windows were completely open on the restuarant so even though we were outside we still felt like part of the restaurant. We started with drinks (as any good brunch would). I had a really hard time deciding on the drinks b/c they all looked so interesting! My boyfriend & his friend both got the spicy bloody Mary, I got the rye lemonade (can't recall the name), and our other friend got the special - the Lolita. I tried the spicy bloody Mary & it was really good! My drink was good too - I didn't realize that rye was whisky or bourbon (whatever it is), and you could definitely taste that, but it was still really tasty to me. The food was all very interesting looking as well. My boyfriend ordered the sausage, fried egg, onion sandwich and said it was really good. It was kind of a unique take on the sausage & egg breakfast sami and he really enjoyed it. Our one friend got the crabcakes egg benedict, which she really liked. I got one of the specials, which was a gruyere & chive omelette with arugula side salad, and an order of the hashbrowns. The omlette was so good, and the arugula salad was perfection. The dressing on it was sooo good! The home fires were really tasty as well. The only let-down of the meal was our other friend's dish. He ordered the hash and it was such a small protion. The rest of our dishes were so generous, more than enough to eat, and his was so tiny! It was really strange. Usually when you think of hash you think of something really hearty. This was downright dainty. He was not happy and not full at the end. Other than that, everything was really great. If I lived in Philly, I'd be making that my weekly brunch spot!

Great beer, creative and impeccable dishes and a tasteful atmosphere.

By Jepeelle |

I've been here twice, once for dinner and once at the bar to watch a game (sound off but three tvs). The menu has hints at English pub food but much more upscale. Churchill Burger was handsdown the best burger I've ever eaten and the bread pudding was heaven!

Great food and Service

By Alison G |

We visited on a busy summer Saturday night. Our service was prompt and friendly. We started with the Cheese Board which was fantastic. The menu is not very large but it has something to appeal to most anyone. There were a few dinner specials one of which was a melon and tomato salad with a light vinaigrette dressing. It was delicious. Everything was fresh and presentation was perfect. The dining area is small and not really separated from the bar. It has a definite PUB feel. Casual dining for sure but the food is cut above regular “ pub” food. It was a wonderful visit. Would definitely return again and again.

LOCAL GEM

By Amanda B |

We visited Pub & Kitchen specifically to try the burger. My husband loves his burgers and the PK burger has a reputation for being one of the best. He was not disappointed and enjoyed it tremendously. I am not a burger aficionado myself, so I opted for the gnocchi, which is sold as a starter, but is filling enough to order as an entree. It was absolutely delicious. The restaurant has a casual neighborhood vibe, but the food and service are both of exceptionally high quality. I would not hesitate to recommend Pub & Kitchen to anyone looking for a great local restaurant.

Nice ambiance but poorly managed

By SanctuarySeeker13 |

We were excited to revisit this restaurant where we had a great meal & service last summer. This evening we called ahead & were told the wait was 30-45 minutes, on arrival we were told the wait for a table was 45 minutes, then after waiting for 45 minutes over a drink we were told the wait was still 45 minutes. All the while several tables sat empty but the hostess & waitstaff ignored us so we resigned ourselves to a meal at at the bar where we were well looked after by our server. Cocktails and food were ok but flavours overshadowed by largely inattentive environment . Shame this place is so poorly managed and staff apparently untrained, despite living close by we probably won't return.

Fab Brunch, Great Service

By MoriahRose |

P&K is one of my favorite brunch spots in Philly. I have been there many times, and every time I go I am obsessed with what I get. My all time favorite is the lox and pretzel bagel... amazing! They also have excellent drinks and coffee (Rival Bros coffee, the P&K owner's coffee company). It can be a smidge pricey, but not compared to other brunch places in the area. I always leave full and happy. If you love great food, drinks, and hipsters - this is the spot for you.

Burger is a must

By MaryBenthere |

I only have a burger a few times a year. This by far is worth coming back for. Great bar known for fantastic drinks and excellent service. Will be back.

Great Food - So So Service

By David V |

The atmosphere is so fun. The food is great. The server didn’t seem to care. Three of four meals came out and I finally flagged down our server to find out where the other meal was. She returned with the meal, placed it on the table and took off. This place uses runners to bring out the food so maybe it wasn’t her fault. But she could have apologized. I had to flag her down again to get salt and pepper as none were on the table. That’s fine but you might want to ask if anyone wants it before you take off. I then had to flag her down again to get a cup of coffee. I worked too hard for her tip. I would go back only if she is not our server.

Delicious food and drink

By Caroline C |

We had an 8:30pm reservation. We were not sat til 8:50pm however we were able to get a drink at the bar and the server compensated us with a round of shots. The food was delicious, we went during restaurant week and we had the beet salad, smash burger and panacotta. It was a great meal, the burger was massive and flavorful. The dessert was creamy. I would recommend this place!

Best Bloody Mary's in Philly!

By Nicole P |

This is my absolute favorite brunch spot in the city. My husband and I come here all the time and always bring out of town visitors here. The menu changes slightly with each season but you can always count on their amazing bloody Mary's at brunch on the weekends. You have to try the whiskey sage bread with chive butter! This is the stuff that dreams are made of!

Great vibe but food was a bit disappointing

By Barb Y |

Two of us dined here the other night and really enjoyed the friendly, warm vibe. We were a bit surprised that the place wasn't packed with people as were other nearby establishments. It might be that the food is good but not as evenly super as plenty of other destinations in Philly. We enjoyed the deviled eggs, but they were a bit underseasoned for our taste. Same for the crispy burrata. While beautifully presented, the flavors were a bit under whelming. Perhaps it's just our palettes and desire for more of a flavor punch. The best dishes were the Grilled Gem Lettuce which was superb, with blue cheese and bacon. The surprising ingredient was husk cherries which gave this dish a really special sweet and tart accent. Very flavorful. We split a burger which was cooked to our liking and tasty. Service and atmosphere were great, so I would give this another try. The brunch menu looks interesting.

Great menu - fabulous hospitality - COVID friendly

By Peggy O |

Great precautions during Covid. They took our temperature by a scanner machine near the door, then seated us outside. Natalie, the hostess, accommodated us by seating us under a heater outside so we were quite comfortable. She was sweet and attentive, keeping her distance and wearing a mask which I was grateful for. The restaurant is not open for inside dining at this time, but upon checking in, I could see the bar would have been so much fun Quite a selection of alcohol from what I could see. Hospitality and festive is the feeling upon arrival. Music coming through the windows above our head was not too loud but made for some entertainment, We were greeted quickly by our server, Travis, who was absolutely adorable and quite energetic. He not only knows food, but alcohol and was helpful in sharing some ideas for touring DC. He too wore a mask the entire time (properly too I might add). Food was delicious. We started off with a variety of drinks, then the appetizers arrived. Raw oysters from an organic farm off the Jersey shore. A cheese plate and fried pickles. Fried pickles --- I was thinking "why did someone order that?" But they were crisp and flavorful. Apparently they are famous for their grilled cheese and tomato soup - Delish. I think the red onion jam really makes the sandwich. And, the salmon dish was just amazing. Crisply cooked on the outside and not overdone on the inside. Can't recommend it enough. If the butternut squash is in season, order it. Looking forward to a return visit to this neighborhood gem.

Great food and vibe

By AngLaz1010 |

We were a large group and tried basically everything on the menu. The oysters were great, as were the wings and the Brussels sprout apps. I had their fantastic burger with bacon and jalapeño. It was very good and juicy. Highly recommend pub and kitchen for not just their great food but an awesome atmosphere

Better than standard bar fare

By Dalia L |

Our party of six geezers was warmly welcomed and led immediately to a nice table in the back. The staff responded promptly to our request to lower the volume of music. Our drinks were presented swiftly and correctly- the beer drinkers were very happy with the on- tap selections. We ordered most of the bar snacks for the table. The highlight was the chopped liver - deviled eggs were meh. The salads were fresh and inventive, the fish done to perfection. The limited dessert menu was serviceable. We were very happy with the service level; noise level not so much. TIP: staff carefully double checked ingredients for the member if our group with gluten allergy. Very pleased.

Delightful gastro pub

By Thomas M |

Great atmosphere, very nice bar, very appealing outdoor seating. We ate at bar and enjoyed astoundingly good burgers. Strongly recommended!

Cozy Neighborhood Tavern

By jennlynn17 |

I found the atmosphere to be rather inviting with the wooden floors and booths. It would be the perfect place for starters and a drink due to their extensive list of spirits, beer and wine. In addition to their starters their cheeseburger was cooked to perfection with cooper sharp cheese. Service was friendly and efficient!

Back again to phenomenal oysters

By Ronald K |

The East-Coast oysters at six for $10. are the most delightful bargain in town. The oysters are so good, don't put any sauce or vinaigrette on them; they are superb by themselves and much better than the buck-a-shuck at the Oyster House, I am not happy to say. I used to love coming to the Oyster House on Sansom. I can't say I've liked anything else at Pub and Kitchen, not so much the famous hamburger and not the brussel sprouts with grated cheese on top. I say these are the best oysters in town and a phenomenal bargain at Happy Hour (4-6!). As for the sauce, ask for bread. They don't have oyster crackers or saltines, OK. But you ask for bread, and they give lovely slices of grilled baguette. Get that to savor their excellent oyster sauces, but the oysters are too delicious on their own to put the sauce on. All the specialty beer was half price too, a big deal, but not for me, and I thought the cocktails were a bit watery.

Unique + Delicious

By MidAtlantic2005 |

My team had a big milestone to celebrate, and I chose P&K as the venue. Turned out it was also the reward — very good cocktails, amazing apps, and everyone left raving about their mains. It’s hard to please 15 foodies ... so to see them smiling was satisfying. I just wish I could have stayed a bit longer at the bar, because it was super high energy. Definitely a spot to return to again and again.

Still good.

By Chad E |

Although there has been a chef change in the recent past, the quality of food remains as does the drink selection! They always have a respectable tap list.

Bustling Fun

The oysters on the half shell were superb (barnstables) --we had round after round-- and I very much enjoyed the spicy Bloody Mary, and had a few, but the famous cheeseburger was overcooked for me, though everyone else loved theirs. It is a perfect place for the afternoon entertaining.

The food was wonderful! While we were eating we wanted to also try the food at the next table because everything looked good. A great place to try if you are visiting the city, off the main drag and more local neighborhood-y, cute street, outdoor seating, we had steak, burger, salad (green beans, great minty dressing).

Lucky to have stumbled upon it!

Monday in Philadelphia with many restaurants closed and others hosting private parties only, my wife happened to see their discreet sign of a pig with rabbit ears high up on a side wall. We were not sure it was even a restaurant but found an entrance on the corner. It turned out to be a lively neighborhood pub with exceptionally well coordinated and friendly servers. The special of the night, an English Dinner was top notch. Smoked Haddock appetizer, Roast Pork with Cauliflower gratin, a wonderful Trifle and even a cheese course. Dinner was paired with an imaginative combination of very appropriate craft beer, wine and sparkling cider. Where would you ever get a mixed pairing like that? Very affordable, comfortable and delicious. Wish we lived in Philadelphia so we could go there often.

Good ambience great drinks, food could be improved

Great bar and appetizer menu, however, the food could use less salt. The arugula salad may be better with less grain and more greens. Article char was nicely done but the salt should be on the light side. Drinks were great, the servers are amazing and don't pester you. The bar looks gorgeous and hopefully this place will strive to be great neighborhood place and for travelers who want some piece and quiet.

Don't Get Your Hopes Up

Love the location and ambience of this charming neighborhood spot but there was much to be desired in the kitchen's execution of some fairly simple menu items. The level of the food fell way short of our expectations. The whisky and sage bread served with honey butter sounded great, but the bread was stale. Our deviled eggs had far too much mustard and the ricotta gnudi while large, were almost tasteless. Rabbit meatballs had way too much filler to even be considered meatballs. Sandwiches seem to be the best option here. To end on a positive note the potatoes served as a side with sandwiches were wonderful - lemony and well-seasoned.

Good food but service was chaotic, likely not to return

The drinks and beer were good, as was the burger, cornish hen, soup, and deviled eggs which we ordered at our table, however, the bench seats were hard and uncomfortable, and we had to replace the folding chair, originally placed at our table, with another chair, and the replacement chair was rickety. We had to ask for utensils, we were given someone else's appetizer, the people around us, who arrived later, received their entrees and were finished before we received ours. The coffee I received was lukewarm and the waitress admitted it was the bottom of the pot. After waiting a long time for our entrees, and then finished, the waitress came over and said "I don't want to rush you, but it is starting to rain." Given our service experience there, it was hard to tell if she was being nice or wanted our table.

Fun and Enjoyable!

We had a party of 6 for dinner and the waiter we had was AWESOME!!! There was not an overabundance in food options, but there was something for those who were vegan, wanted fish or fowl or beef. The food we ordered was good and the drinks were quite good.

Extremely tasty food and interesting ingredients

4 of us ate here and had very different dishes, all good. The vegetarian points out that they don't have a lot of options for her, but the rest of us could have enjoyed several meals from the menu, even with the possibly extra-foodie ingredients and items whose names we weren't sure we could pronounce but which were excellent on the table. Heat lamps outdoors make it a joy to eat outside. Service was excellent. Not a cheap meal, but worth it we thought. And if some of the ingredients are daunting, the cheeseburger gets raves. Oh, and the Whiskey bread and butter? Wow!

Happy hour well worth a visit

We shared a charcuterie board and the happy hour burger with a couple beer specials and had a very pleasant meal. Place was virtually empty- not sure about that- because the food was delicious.

Brunch

We went here with 6 people for Saturday Brunch, they opened at 11 and it was so good. We all ordered breakfast food, the French toast was unbelievable, the house made sausage was so good. I am often disappointed with restaurants but this one was so good. The waitress was really nice and not pushy, half their menu is alcohol and the other half is food. Not a huge selection, but everyone loved their food. With alcohol we each ended up spending around $20 (drinks were easily half of this). Cute inside, very small, low ceilings, kind of hipster-y food-y. I will likely be back here. They don't take reservations but there was space available for us, and they didn't seat us until the whole group was there, which took some finagling. There is meter parking outside (it's in a mostly residential area) but since we were going to go back over to the liberty bell area, we figured we would just park there and walk to the restaurant. it was a bit of a walk (I wouldn't do it with kids), maybe 20 minutes? but since we wanted to drink too, it ended up being the perfect plan. Eating here took me to my happy place.

Great neighborhood restaurant-eat outside if weather permits

By Wendi P |

On this particularly beautiful Sunday, my kids wanted to take me to dinner near where my son lives. My son has been to this restaurant several times and said he "never had a bad meal". We had the dog with us, so we asked if we could eat outside and had a little bit of a wait before being seated, but the wait was worth it!!! The service was wonderful and attentive and the food was delicious. We started with the wings which we devoured- they had such a great flavor, and mussels which were meaty and cooked to perfection. We ended up splitting the fluke and the chicken- both incredible and full of flavor. We were all still a bit hungry so we ended up getting the cheese plate , with three wonderful cheeses and the olive oil cake which was heavenly and a great ending to this meal. My son had a cocktail something called a "mule" which was delightful (I had a taste). The servers even brought a big dog bowl full of fresh water for the puppy. It was very relaxing to sit outside and eat and watch everyone....and to have such a quality meal. Definitely recommended and will definitely return the next time I am in the neighborhood!!!
