Best French Dip Ever!

By dmom2 |

Stopped in before performance at The Fox. We both ordered the French Dip Sandwich. It's house roast beef, horseradish mayo, auj jus, creole mustard, with seasoned fries. Try the Mysterious Tiki Punch, you'll find it under Rum on the Cocktail Menu......it's delicious! Service was spot on. Open late, and just across street from Georgian Terrace Hotel.

Dinner before the show

By ctyndall |

Location location location is perfect when going to see anything at the Fox! The service was friendly but they were very busy and a little slow. The food was pub food. The shrimp and grits were delicious. The fried catfish didn't have any flavor. Will be back!

Nice cool place

By Ravishingredz |

Can here for dinner and drinks for late dinner. Had market salad with steak which nice but the dressing for salad was too much. Pesto chicken was nice.. Well marinated..

Dont get ceviche

By Fishheadfwb |

Stopped in for quick meal. Ceviche was terrible. All onions. When i asked where avocado was the waiter pointed to a green spec.

Nice place to gather with friends

By GLPW |

I live nearby and go often. The staff is excellent and very friendly and the food is a good value. They have specials which keep the menu options fresh. It gets packed during Fox Theatre events, but otherwise is very accessable.

Finally a place that serve a burger not overcooked

By babayou69 |

Good burger. Excellent service. Fries are vey good. Finally a place that knows how to cook burgers. They use good quality meat and bread. Huge selection of beers on tap.

Large, tasty portions, great menu variety

By Meghan W |

On the corner by The Fox and Georgian Terrace, this corner pub has a little taste of everything for everyone. An extensive drink menu, daily specials, makes a great lunch/brunch before a Fox event, or a late night snack/dinner. The fries were amazing - perfectly cooked, seasoned and served hot and fresh! Large portions ensure you leave full or have enough to share! Enjoy the street view from the wrap around windows!

After the Fox . . .

By Kathy C |

We just stopped by for drinks and snacks after seeing Jersey Boys at the Fox Theater. There was a big crowd but we got lucky and found some seats at the bar. The wine pours were extremely generous, the Cajun fries fantastic and the service was absolutely delightful. The best part was that one of the "stars" of Jersey Boys was having dinner right next to us and he was delightful. It has to be good if the cast dines there! It's pricey. It's in the heart of Atlanta.

Good place

By Honky_Richard |

We had a very friendly and helpful waitress, just coming in for a quick bite. Beers are good (on draft) and so are the burgers.

Special Request? No Problem. NO WAY

By LuckySpivey |

Least accommodating restaurant I can remember. Ordered apple walnut salad. Asked if they could substitute watermelon - also on the menu - for Apple . No. Bring a slice on the side? No. Had large party. Food dribbled out over 15 min v all together. No refills offered on my drink. Other than that, no problem. Food was ok.

Publik Dust House

By CuriousOliver |

Visited PDH for lunch on a Friday. Service was efficient and friendly. Food (paninis and fries) were good pub food. Room for improvement: the place is really filthy. Pendant lights are covered in dust; corners of floor are caked in dirt. Visible mop bucket and mop propped up in corner near tables (gross). It really needs a deep scrub. The bones of the space in the historic Fox Theatre are great - exposed brick and other finishes are charming. But the crud is a real turnoff. PDH - clean the place up and it will sparkle. There were plenty of staff members standing around not doing much when we were there; hand them a scrub bucket. The historic location warrants a nicer experience.

“ where everybody knows your name “

By Vincent S |

I’ve been here for 2 months on business , I’m being put up just down the street from rbis place. I tried it once simply because it was close. I couldn’t have been more pleased and have been back about 8 times . The staff is awesome , after my third time, the bartender automatically had my drink waiting .. the food? Excellent ,not jus bar food , one day was rabbit stew , the duck quesadilla is fantastic served with an actual fresh green salad , chess night on Tuesday’s .. and great beers on tap. What more could you want I wish this place was near where I live ( NYC) , I’d make it my once a week place for life. Not touristy , not trendy , not pretentious. Just good really really good…

Excellent Tap Room

By bjbryan2018 |

Went here before a show at The Fox Theatre. It was a great way to spend the evening. Got to the mid-town neighborhood well before the mad rush... made it easy to find parking and relax before the show.

Visited after a Show at the Fox

By mlorahga |

Located next to the Fox, this is a great place to catch a meal or drink when seeing a show. American-style bar food is excellent and the staff is very friendly. Much better to go after the show rather than before, to help beat the crowds (Although that may depend on the type of show.)

Smart bar

By ANDY K |

This is a very smart bar offering a light and airy atmosphere with good service. We only had drinks on this occasion and I enjoyed the Mam's Lil Yellow Pills and we were well looked after by Noelle. There is a wide range of food and the meals we saw going out looked excellent.

Not impressed

By Tim R |

Since PDH is next to the Fox Theatre, we decided to have lunch before a Saturday matinee. The salads were OK as was the service. Doubt we'll return.

Dinner Before a Play

By shawnhoward |

We went there to catch a quick dinner before a play at the FOX. We got there around 5:15 PM and actually got seated for 6 people right away. The service was good but loved the Blond Hostess with the booming voice. She will raise the hair on the back of your neck. Food was great and service was good but this place fills up quick before a play so get there early.

Excellent Service Average Food

By ddmullis |

Located next door to the historic Fox theater it offers a great location. The service was outstanding for my visit. I chose the grilled cheese with coleslaw. While I enjoyed the coleslaw, the grilled cheese was extremely greasy and they used thick cheddar cheese which made it hard to eat My meal including tip was $16 which is a bit pricey for a sandwich with no meat.

Lonsdale love

By Traci C |

I've been to this place more than once...the first time was somewhat of a fluke, but resulted in a return trip. My favorite drink is the Lonsdale and when suggested/shared with friends, they love it too. Staff is helpful with suggestions. Charcuterie board is a great sharable way to nosh while you drink. Shrimp and grits are super good too!

Meh

By tavaroo |

Stopped here to get some lunch, waiter was nice but the food was nothing to go out of the way for. Had a lamb burger and chicken and waffles, the honey for the waffles was good, but the chicken seemed a little like giant versions of microwavable nuggets. The lamb burger upset me because it came with feta on it, despite being advertised with goat cheese. Reminded me a lot of a falafel seasoning wise, which wasn't bad. All the beers I wanted to try were out as well. I'll give it another shot because it has potential, but definitely not any time soon.

2 Nights in Row

By GeorgiaDad2 |

I had to stay at the Georgian Terrace for two nights and found myself eating here both night. First night I had burger & fries and it was excellent. Second night I decided to return and I had the wings and the duck quesadilla. Wings were fantastic. The quesadilla was good as well. Excellent choice of beverages. I highly recommend for casual dinner if in the area.

Great location, atmosphere, drinks and bites

By JoB |

Stopped in on a Friday evening for a snack and cocktails. If a Fox night, get there early for a seat at the bar and possibly a table. If you know it is a Fox night, call way ahead for reservations. they always try to accommodate. Didn't know but they have happy hour drinks and snacks until 6:00. Very tasty. Skilled bartenders and most very friendly.

The fries were pretty good, beer was overpriced

By Chris & Hannah Marsh |

Being so close to the Fox Theater, you can likely get away with high beer prices, but when no show or event is happening, it felt absurdly high. I ordered a basket of fries to start and those were the highlight of the meal. Feeling slightly adventurous, I ordered the duck confit quesadilla and regretted it that night and the following day. The flavor wasn't even good enough to offset the stomach issues that followed later.

Excellent dinner before show at the Fox Theater

By Lori T |

We stopped here to get dinner before going to the Fox Theater for a show. The show started at 7:30, and we arrived for dinner just before 6:00. We were seated immediately. It took a few minutes to place our order, but the food was served up fast - within minutes! I had the wedge salad with grilled shrimp and it was delicious. Service was friendly. Great start to a nice evening out.

Good Place for a Pint

By Jerry L |

I enjoyed my recent visit. Good selection of different brews that will suit many. Nice decor especially liked the two cricket bats on the wall. Service at the bar was good as server took time to explain the various beers on tap.

Joe Bonamassa Concert

By Caroline S |

Great Energy, terrific music, food is good. We had a house salad and wings. Service was good and restrooms are clean. One of our favorite places to come when we are visiting.

Mediocre

By Jaciene P |

Me and a friend came here for dinner. We were not very impressed. The food was ok at best and way overpriced for what it was. Not terrible but definitely not worth the money.

Awful

By Mehy H |

Not a good vibe from staff. Felt unwelcome as a tourist and somewhat judged maybe cause of my skin colour. Was just trying to enjoy a nice meal but couldn't cause I was worried that they might have spat in it or something. I don't recommend it.

Not For Pre-Theatre Dining

By Bantryb |

How do you review a restaurant that has decent food, but is run terribly. I brought 3 friends here for a meal before a show at the Fox. We arrived on a Saturday at 12:30. The restaurant was fairly full, but 2 tables for two were available. The hostess said there were no tables available unless we wanted to sit outside (on the sidewalk, in the sun, at noon, with crowds swirling about, trying to get to the theatre - no thank you). I pointed out that there were 2 two tops available inside and that we were willing to split our group, as we wanted to be sure we had time (an hour and a half) for a leisurely meal before the show. Our waiter was very busy, but finally came to out table and took the order. We both ordered the James Beard hamburger. He never asked us if we wanted to drink anything other than the water he had brought. Then we sat back and waited . . .and waited . . . and waited. Our waiter stopped by from time to time to reassure us that our food would be coming out soon, but after 45 minutes, I finally asked the hostess to please check on our order. She went to check on our food and came back and said that, you guessed it, our food would be out soon. I then heard about the small kitchen, the decision to keep seating people even when there were already customers waiting for their meal, and of course, apologies. A full hour after we sat down, we finally got our meal. It turned out to be a great burger, slapped with potato chips on top of the meat and grated cheese falling out the sides. Probably the most unattractive plate that I've been served in a restaurant EVER. As we hurriedly ate our meal, we asked for the check and our waiter told us that the manager had given us a 15% discount (really???) We gave our waiter our credit cards to expedite the purchase. When he returned, he left the slips, thanked us for our patience and walked away. That is when we realized that one of our credit cards was missing. I had to stop another waitress to get her to get our waiter to find my card. The waiter and the manager came over and just looked perplexed. As it happens, my other two friends had finished their meal and left to stand in line at the theatre. One came back to get the tickets and we told him of our dilemma. He said that he had seen a waiter drop a credit card on the floor, and he had pointed it out to another waiter, who gave it to the bartender. If my friend had not come in, the staff would probably still be looking for my card. I've eaten here in years past, but I can assure you that this trip was the last one. Oh, and don't hold your breath about the James Beard burger contest, folks. Mine was half raw in the middle.

Never Received Our Order

By bugzboy |

We had about an hour before our show at The Fox and thought we'd stop in for a snack before the show Sunday afternoon. We arrived just before noon and were seated immediately in the upstairs dining area. Our server was busy, but brought us water and said she would be back shortly to take our order. When she returned, my wife ordered the brownie a la mode and I ordered the Peach pie. After 30 minutes my wife asked our server to check on our order. This was after watching those who arrived after us get served. Our server returned and without details as to why our order was taking so long, informed us it would be about another 10 minutes. We told her this was unacceptable and left the table. On our way out, I walked over to the woman who had taken us to our table and informed her that after 30 minutes, we were told to expect about another 10 minute delay for what we had ordered, and that we were leaving. She offered neither excuse nor apology; nor did she track down our server to find out what happened. I told her we would not be back.

Great place to dine before a show at the Fox

By Allan L |

We had OUTSTANDING service and EXCELLENT food while dining at PDH before “Wicked” at the Fox. The slow roasted lamb shank was fabulous and my daughter’s burger was delicious. We shared the excellent brownie ala mode for dessert. The only negative was that my cup of coffee was barely warm and not enjoyable.

Great drinks...great service!

By Doug B |

We visited this place so we could meet a friend of ours. The friend recommended this place and we were not disappointed! The servers were fun and friendly. The drinks were good and they had a good selection of beers too. That doesn't hurt!

Fun, Friendly, and Fabulous!

By foodie473 |

For a draft house, they rocked the coffee! We came back for lunch and again for snacks and local beers. Very centrally located to our hotel. We found it friendly, lively, clean, and affordable. The food was quirky and delicious. Can't wait to go back again!

Good place to visit prior to Fox Theater event. Great friendly service. Limited menu.

By Rima S |

We were going to an event at the Fox Theater and decided to have lunch here. Staff was very friendly and efficient. Menu was somewhat limited - out of fried chicken early in the day. Food was good but service was even better.

Friendly service, some glitches

By SaskatchewanMojo |

Close to our VRBO so we went a few times- but each time they were out of different things! Out of several different beers, out of chocolate sauce for the ice cream- have you ever tried to eat a large bowl of plain vanilla ice cream? It’s a weird first world problem. Friendly staff and while we didn’t eat anything, the food looked delicious.

Great place for a get togeather with friends

By SVenghaus |

Cool place with great service and good old comfort food. I had the flank steak and was quite pleased with how tender it was. Also, the Fried Peach desert with ice cream was shared with our whole party. Great experience!

Excellent Lunch

By william s |

Excellent pre-play lunch. Immediate seating at bar. Very good food and great service for fair Atlanta prices. Next door to Fox Theater. Interesting menu.

We had a great experience

By Susan H |

We had a great experience at PDH before attending a play at the Fox. First I want to say the service was outstanding. Rande did a great job. Spot on in every respect. All of the food was good and the House Hamburger was delicious. Loved the atmosphere inside and out (we ate outside this visit.) So convenient to the Fox. Right next door. No concerns about running late with dinner as is the case for other restaurants in the area. Delicious and stress free.

amazing!!!

By rileigh15 |

The meals were inspired. Combinations unheard of and people packed in every corner. Not a place for romantic or quiet conversation. But I ordered to go - because its location was great - and was amazed by the flavors. As I stood watching while waiting for my food, I was impressed with the staff's hustle and the mouth watering smells drifting from the kitchen.

Eh

By Riversong32 |

Amazing drinks. And the servers are kind. But this place was a disarray of disorganization. Our reservation was pulled less than 10 minutes after it was set for. We were stuck in a line trying to get to the host stand so we end up being offered the upstairs bar after a bit. Drinks again were great, steak was cold and took 45 minutes to get even though I ordered it immediately. Mash potatoes tasted like instant over buttery as well. No super impressed with the food and with the temperature (food) being super low as well. Not thrilled, pleased or impressed. Probably wont be back unless it's to grab drinks beforehand when we go to the fox.

My regular place when in Atlanta

By Bryanajones |

They have a good food menu that changes during the day, an innovative yet classic drinks menu and then there is the service. Meet Kristi and Franki and you can have a great conversation on any topic. Look out for the karioke on Sunday night from 9pm

Nice place

By Al_Gale777 |

I only dived in here to shelter from the rain, and only read the negative reviews afterwards. But I just sat at the bar, was served IMMEDIATELY, and had absolutely no issue with the place or the staff. The beer is served in interesting glasses! Atmosphere seemed very relaxed and friendly on a mid afternoon on a Saturday!

Great pub

By Lisa S |

Great local place. Very busy, but staff attentive to customers. The food was fantastic, we had the empanadas and the duck quesadillas and they were amazing. Highly recommend.

Interesting evening with the Heineken women

By Tootsie706 |

Great mid-town location next to the Fox with public parking very close by (transit was not an option since I'm an hour away with no public transit). My CA boy friend and I went there on a Thursday night where I wanted to surprise him with an early dinner and then movie next door at the Fox. We arrived at 5:30 and were immediately escorted to the empty UPbar which, according to the website, is only open on Fri/Sat nights even though there were multiple open tables on the main level. I then asked to be seated on the main level where there was more "atmosphere" not to mention big windows to enjoy the mid-town views and an approaching storm. After we ordered drinks two women representing Heineken approached and offered a free beer each ($5 after the free one)...my BF accepted one. A couple of minutes later two younger men (BF and I are 55+) came in and sat next to us and they too were offered the free beers...and then their photos were taken by one of these women. We joked with the women that they had not taken OUR photos and one immediately smiled and told us we were not their "target market"...!!?? How 'bout a little customer training here from their Heineken bosses? After we told them that it was a very rude comment...not to mention the fact that the 55+ market is more likely to buy their beer...or anything else we want...they quickly disappeared. We joked with the guys next to us and they said they didn't even like Heineken and preferred craft beers...BF gave them his untouched beer...Our waitress was great and did not push us to order after I told her we wanted to first enjoy our drinks: "Colebrook Row" and a "Sour Patch Kid." Dinner started with shrimp bisque and an oyster dish, followed by a burger and falafel burger and lots of fries. The waitress mistakenly spilled the beans when I told her our evening plans were a surprise for the BF and she then asked if we were going to the movie next door. I later wondered what the deal was with the upstairs seating on a night when it was not supposed to be open and when there were still clearly available tables in the more open lower level...especially when I noticed non-millennials and families being seated up there...hmmmm...does management also only want to fill the window tables with their "target market"...??

Casual Dining Gem

By VMVMadison |

My husband and I were going to the Fox Theatre to see the movie, "Funny Lady," Wanting a casual, convenient place for dinner. I chose Publik, and we were not disappointed. The staff is very friendly (Molly the Hostess and Lexis the Server) and helpful. Lexis made my husband's ordering choices simple with her advice, and was very attentive. Recommend the House Burger with Cajun Fries, Fried Oysters, Lamb Burger, Jalapeño Cucumber Martini, and Just Cabernet. Flavorful food and delicious drinks! Impressed with this casual dining spot.

Great Location !

By Barbara30277 |

We ate here before seeing the Lion King at the Fox. We were seated upstairs where its a little quieter. I ordered a drink called "Circle of Life" ...and it was amazing ! My husband and I both ordered the flat iron steak. Probably the best steak we have ever had ! Service was excellent ! Atmosphere wonderful. Food A+. Will eat here every time we come back to the Fox for a show !

This Place Has Gone Down Hill

By MiltonMan007 |

This used to be a family favorite, particularly when going downtown to events at the FOX. However, this past weekend's brunch meal tells me they have had a change of management. My Belgian waffles had a chemical taste to them, My son's scrambled eggs tasted like they were cooked in a microwave and the sausage has an unnatural garlic taste to it. Will drop this one off the list. PS: Be leery when walking down Ponce Avenue side of building as there are large groups of panhandlers hanging out looking to harass the tourists for money.

Some good; mostly bad.

By somewhereingeorgia |

There were two competing hostesses at the front table. We asked not to be seated at high-top tables. One hostess was signaling that we would be seated at a high-top. The other hostess said we could go upstairs for regular tables. They were not communicating with each other although they were standing 3 feet apart. One finally set up a high-top and was shocked when we said we thought we were being seated upstairs. It was confusion from the start, but they finally got that sorted out. Our male waiter upstairs was terrific. He took our orders and everything came out of the kitchen fairly quickly. I had ordered the chicken pot pie with peas, carrots and...CHICKEN. What came out was a beautiful crust on top of a small amount of chicken GRAVY, one bite of actual chicken, and nothing else. No peas. No carrots. Basically, I got a tasty gravy with a nice crust on top. I asked our waiter where the veggies were and he headed to the kitchen to investigate. A few minutes later a female manager came to me to say there had no peas or carrots in the kitchen. Wha? She asked if I would like some spinach with beans instead and I agreed. I finished my gravy meal and my table mates were finished and I asked our server if he could give us checks and just credit me for my missing food as it never came out of the kitchen. He consulted with the manager and I was given a credit of ($1.60) on my bill. Seriously? I paid $25 for chicken flavored gravy with a nice crust on top, and a very small beer. Two other people ordered the duck quesadilla and both said it was ok, but something seemed to be missing. A third person ordered slaw and fried oysters and said hers was 'ok'. After I got home I noticed that my receipt says "2 hours free parking validation at the Georgia Terrace", so if you are just going to try the bar you can probably park for free. That is not enough incentive for us to return, but it is a plus for that area of town. Other reviews say that diners get a discount if they are going to the Fox Theatre, but we were not told about this. It may be on their in-house menu but I did not see it.

Lunch before a show

By fav1247 |

Lunch was amazing and the view was good from up high. Try the chicken wrap and burger. Service was good too.

Good food, weak service

By Ed S |

Had great specials, but they sold out... Good for them! The food was good but the service was slow and disorganized.

Nice atmosphere, descent food and great martini for our show pre-dinner

By Jennifer S |

Publik Draft House was a nice place. The waitress was not the best she possibly was new and always had to get someone to help her with any of our questions. Other than the service which I would rate a B the apple martini was great! I was not a fan of the way they list liqors and mixers. I am more of a order what is your specialty kind of person when I travel but that was not available there - at least not for mixed drinks. I didn't drink any beer but it is a draft house so surely that is where there specialty lies. The food was ok but not great. I had the french dip with fries. Blue Cheese tasted great and looked homemade. Friend got the wings they looked great and he liked those.

Good food, weak cocktails

By jpeskett |

The food was really good, but the cocktails took a while to make and were pretty weak. It was a fun place, but pretty loud. Lots of energy. I'd definitely go back.

Good but didn't get brunch menu

By ramblinggirl67 |

My family met here to specifically have brunch together. Unfortunately, we learned after arriving that they don't serve their brunch menu on days when the Fox has an early show. This would have been good to know ahead of time! We had all already checked the brunch menu beforehand and decided what we wanted so we were pretty disappointed. As a picky eater, I had some panic checking their regular menu, but in the end, we all found something we wanted and we enjoyed our meal. They still offer chicken and waffles on their regular menu so I had that and I think everyone at the table tried it- delicious. We had a good time and we hope to return when they are serving brunch.

Nince Pub with good food

By David E |

Came for lunch and found the burgers quite good, with wonderful fries. I thought they might have more beers on tap, and they wereot of several, disappointing on that end.

Best Hamburger!

By Shannon P |

Lively, fun place for drinks and food. Good selection of draft beer and varied drinks menu. This was my fourth visit here and I will return for more. The staff are helpful and friendly, not overly-solicitous. The front is flexible and do their best to seat you, if at all possible.

Great Gastro Pub next door to the Fox Theater in Atlanta

By Walter A |

Meal was delicious, craft beer and craft cocktails are also a treat. Had teh duck quesadilla which was a WOW experience. Just awesome. Highly recommend.

Great Stop Pre-Show

By HoustonMom9999 |

We stopped in before a show at the Fox on a Saturday and had an early dinner/late lunch. The catfish and chips were delightful, although they don't have any malted vinegar :( The giant pretzel with cheese was to die for. Our server was lovely and the food came out fast and hot. I adored the music. It was a great start to a great night!

Good food

By phillip g |

We had burgers and the meat and cheese tray. Both were very good. but i got to say the best part of dinner was when we ordered the absinthe. They had the fountain and the whole experience was great. Little crowded but nice

In time for the theatre?

By luisarielruiz |

Great location - within the footprint of the Fabulous Fox Theater in Atlanta. Arrive early for a show - and have dinner literally next door to The Fox, without dealing with Atlanta traffic after a nice and relaxing dinner. Fun crowd, great food, complete bar with many interesting choices.

Good food, but not good for larger groups

By Angela M |

We were upstairs as a large group of 11. It was nice upstairs, but only one person serving. Food was awesome.

Great steaks

By Greg L |

The Allen Brother's Steak was cooked to perfection and was delicious. My wife and I split a 16 oz. version and ordered an extra side of the potatoes and side salads and were both full. All tables were pub tables except for one, so be aware if you need a regular size dining table, make a reservation for it.

Great Dunch

By mlbdab |

You know that meal between lunch and dinner? Yup, that’s dunch, or linner, your pick. We were staying at the Georgian Terrace but did want a fancy meal, but we also didn’t want Quiznos :/ We walked down the street a bit but not much was open at 2:00 in the afternoon. We walked back and decided to try Publik. It was a great spot, directly across from the hotel and right next door to the Fox Theater. We got the seat right in front of the window so we could people watch during our dunch. We got a house burger w/ fries, large Caesar salad and extra order of fries, + 2 soft drinks. $36 +tip not too bad and the food was fantastic. We were very casual, jeans and shorts and tank tops. Great spot, will be back!

In town to see a show

By RamblingGFamily |

This is a great place when you're seeing a show at the Fox and when you're not. My wife and I really enjoyed our first meal so we went back for Sunday Brunch and it was Great again. The food was great and so was the staff. Just a great place to relax and have a good meal.

So good we went twice!

By A M |

Fun place for food and drinks with friends. I recommend trying the Absinthe if you like that sort of thing - they serve the traditional way with fancy fountain dripper, spoon feuilles, and sugar cube.

Never got to order

By BWoodrow |

We were seated almost immediately. However, we never saw the waitress again. We waited 15 minutes. We left after seeing another couple leave without being served and the people who came in after us being waited on. The menu looked great, but unfortunately we never got to try the food.

3 great visits, 1 bad one

By doctouradvisor |

The Publik Draft House (PDH) is next door to the infamous Fox Theatre. I had to knock it down quite a few points after a recent visit before a show at the Fox Theatre. I’ve tried just about everything at PDH - the pretzel, the veggie burger, the lamb burger and the shrimp & grits. I always attend before a show at the Fox Theatre. Unfortunately the most recent visit was the worst. When we walked in it was unusually empty. It was right at noon. Brunch was apparently not being served but we were offered specialty items shrimp and grits or chicken & waffles. I felt like the shrimp & grits were overpriced. They were $18 a plate - for 5 shrimp & a modest serving of grits. I looked over at another table & the chicken & waffles portion looked light as well. However, the worst issue was a small roach in the tap water we were served. The roach was attached to a lemon. It was not a seed. It was clearly a dead creepy crawler with legs. When we brought it to attention to the hostess, she thought it was a seed too until she took a closer look. She reluctantly apologized after telling the waitress. Later, a woman who never introduced herself, whom we could assume was the manager (she was not our waitress), offered my victimized relative a bottled water. Truth be told events like this happen every day. Yet, you wonder if one bug died on a lemon, then where are the rest of the clan. In addition, we received sticky utensils for dessert. Why were the sticky? It was weird. I am curious about whether I will go back.

Fun After the Concert!

By Tony M |

Attended the Mannheim Steamroller concert at the Fox and decided to try the Publik Draft House (PDH) next door. Cian, from Ireland, was our server. He was friendly, conversational, and extremely attentive. He made excellent menu recommendations for this first stop at PDH. We tried the Publik Wrap appetizer. Great! Do not let the "egg roll" description throw you off this item. It is very tasty! We settled on the Apple Walnut Salad and a pitcher of Mimosa for our main item. Salad was good though the walnuts were a little over-glazed. Mimosa was perfect for our moment! For dessert, we went with Cian's recommendation of the fried peach pie with vanilla ice cream and caramel topping. Just the right amnount for two to share for a bit of sweet after the meal. We will return!!

Pleasant midweek business dinner

By Roberto C |

I had dinner here on two occasions midweek, both times removing excellent burgers. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Nice location, good food

By Leslie J |

I stayed at the Georgian Terrace and saved a lot of money by eating here, right across the street. Food was very good, wings and burger, and drinks prepared perfectly. The friendly, helpful staff just finished off the excellent visit.

Great place before or after your play!!!

By Dr. Roland T |

Went to see Hamilton and stopped in before to grab brunch. Only a 20 minute wait and well worth it! We had salads and mimosas and they were great! Super price too. The hostess was very nice to us as well as the servers. Great atmosphere and just a quick walk around the corner to the Fox Theatre. Just a fun place to hang out!!

I love this place!

This seems to be the local hangout and I can see why. The food is awesome and unique drinks(not all alcoholic). We ate fresh oysters on the half shell and they were fresh! Maybe, a little expensive but worth the friendly local atmosphere.

Great Food and Drinks

By Cheevisor |

Duck Quesadillas with Tamarind Barbecue Sauce - Nuff Said! And that was just the appetizer. We ordered about three rounds.

Great range of beer, friendly staff

By Mononoke |

I went her with a group of colleagues in late September 2016. They got a great range of beer on draft and on bottles. The staff was very friendly and had the knowledge to recommend beer based on other beers we liked. We ended up coming back to this bar multiple times. The only problem was that the air condition made us all freeze.

Service

Popped in for a quick drink. Staff could be more helpful in getting order. Nice beer. However long wait for bill.

Great foid

Conveniently located in midtown Atlanta next door to the beautiful Fox Theatre and and across the street from the Georgian Terrace Hotel. Good food - I had fish and chips. The fries had a bit of a spicy kick that was yummy. Nice staff.

Great Place For Drinks Before a Show at the Fox Theater

By Brittany G |

We were in town to see Chris Rock perform at the Fox Theater (terrific venue, excellent show), and stopped by this place for a couple beverages before the show. The variety of complex drinks was remarkable, and all three of the bartenders we interacted with at the bar were affable, efficient and more than competent at creating the drinks. Unfortunately we had already eaten at The Varsity, and so didn't get to experience their food, which I feel safe assuming would have been just as worthy as their drinks.

Great spot for good beer and food

By Dan S |

I visited on a Sunday night while in town. The menu is more limited on Sunday night but I had no problem finding great selections. I tried the ribs and they were amazing. I also enjoyed a healthy selection of local beers on tap.

Sunday Brunch

By Travis R |

Great food and awesome staff. The portions are huge so it is plenty to fill you up. Stopped randomly, but would definitely go back!

Don’t visit on show night

By Tina M |

Went for dinner before a show at the Fox. It was loud and they were not accommodating, if you needed anything different from the menu. Our waiter Terrell was as nice as he could be and tried to assist. The food was ok and we enjoyed the Cajun fries. The menu is very limited.

Quickie By The Fox

By Billy M |

Running a bit late into town to see the Nutcracker and needed a bit of lunch. We were told there would be an hour wait before being seated but we took a chance. We chose the Draft House because it is literally next door to the Fox. Although packed, we were seated immediately and the waiter clearly knew the drill. He suggested some items that would not take much time, brought the bill before our food arrived and checked on us regularly in case we needed additional items. I had the Wedge salad and my wife had the Caesar. Both were very good. The homemade ranch with blue cheese dressing was above average. Our daughter (5) ordered the small mac-n-cheese. good thing because if we had ordered the large we would still be eating it. All in all it was a good experience and we will definitely go cack when we have more time to explore the remainder of the menu. Side-note - they do not have a lunch menu and the prices are set accordingly.

Would really like to rate this better.

By Lori2641 |

This is a prime spot for a bite to eat before a show at The Fox which is just what we were doing there tonight. The hostess was fine but the floor manager acted like she was doing us a favor. Server was slow to take our order and we were seated about 20 minutes before our drinks arrived with no apology for either. It didn't look like all were the servers were that way. Overall, they have a built-in clientele and they act like it. My food (falafel) was good, my husband's was a very small portion for the price They were out of an item on the meat and cheese plate and didn't offer a substitution or increase the other items to compensate. Very "take it or leave it" attitude overall.

Just started breakfast on weekends and amazing

By Anthony L |

We just saw the sign and walked in. I had the Hot Chicken Biscuit which was amazing. She had French Toast which was amazing as well. Very fluffy and topped with fruit. The staff there was 2nd to none. And the Mimosas were great as well. Would highly recommend!!

Expensive menu for low quality food

By musicalpch |

My wife and I went to eat here last month before attending a show at the Fox. She ordered a burger and I ordered a chicken and apple salad. My salad was $12.99 while her burger was an average price of $9.50. What came out, was a frozen burger patty that had been grilled to death. The burger was smaller than a McDonalds double cheeseburger. And my salad, was the size of a standard side salad. With half a chicken breast that had zero seasoning, red apples instead of the advertised granny smith apples, no gorgonzola cheese, no candied pecans.... shall I go on?? Dessert was ok, but for $9 I would except it to be spectacular! Overall, I was incredibly disappointed, and will not be going back.

Good Food and Drinks

By Brandon S |

The first thing I noticed about Publik was the drink menu; it rivaled a craft cocktail/speakeasy establishment. If you enjoy liquor you can have a lot of fun testing the various concoctions on the menu. The food was good as well, no complaints there. The establishment itself was relatively quiet for a Saturday night but still busy. We didn't have to wait for a table.

Great Dessert!

By Cathy H |

All the food was excellent here. I had the rib eye which was great but my friend has this trout that was so perfectly cooked. I wish I had gotten that. We all got dessert and we all loved it! Fried peach pie with ice cream, flourless chocolate torte, and bread pudding with bourbon sauce. Yum..

Spur-of-Moment worked great!

By Debbie P |

We were in town to see "Cabaret" and had planned to eat at Krog Street Market, but it was chaos down there. So we decided to go to the Fox, park, and find some place convenient to grab a bite. Nothing more convenient than PDH! They have an interesting menu that has relatively typical dining options on it, but many have an added twist to them. Everything the four of us ordered was delicious! PDH has some of the most tender calamari I've ever had, and tenderness is a must for me. A friend ordered the Korean wings. They had just enough heat to be good, but not enough to burn your mouth. The order of baked oysters with spinach and bacon was gorgeous. The food was good, sitting outdoors in the sun was enjoyable, and we were served and finished eating in time to make our short walk to the Fox within minutes of the play's beginning. Last minute decisions should always turn out this well!

Great food & fun atmosphere !!

By Clbcathode |

Stopped in for a late night bite, left full & happy !!! Had the brie bacon burger and it was awesome !!! Service was fast & friendly, neighborhood was classy and busy late night, Excellent place to have a great meal !!

Late Night

By FrankandLola2 |

We came to dinner after a night at the Fox. The service was good for the amount of customers that had the same idea!! The food was "bar fare" or maybe that is just what we ordered. Will need to go back and see? The only issue we had was, as soon as they deliver our food, the server said "last call" and felt obligated to rush as they began closing. Think they should cater to the Fox crowd on nights of shows and not close so early. Great Time... Clubs won the World Series that night... had to go to hotel to finish game.

Great late a night

By 2Beez |

We visited after a concert - we were starving (not literally of course). It's a downtown bar crowd, but it wasn't too rowdy. Youngish for the most part and you are likely to end up sharing a table. But although the menu is limited, it's pretty tasty. I ended up with some french bread pizza that was yummy. Not a lot to find near midnight downtown - hit the spot nicely.

Best Birthday Brunch ever

By sragaines |

We visited Publik Draft House for my birthday. We had the mimosas and they were very good. We also ordered the filet stacks and the andouille hash skillet. Both were very good, but I would order the filet stack every time. Since we were celebrating, we shared a fried peach pie for dessert. It was excellent as well. Very cool location too since it's right next to the Fox. Though Sunday lunch/brunch was a small crowd, I can see this place getting packed very quickly.

Excellent!

By Andy D |

Ate dinner here with a colleague after a long drive in from Washington DC (long story...). Had the chicken sandwich with Cajun fries, and both were excellent -- especially the fries. Atmosphere was upbeat and though it was busy, our waiter was very attentive. Very good place!

Great neighborhood go to!

By ah64fish |

We usually go to Publik for drinks, apps and their awesome oysters. This time we decided to make it our tailgate spot on the way to see ATL UTD play. It became standing room only around 2 hrs before the game, but the service was still 100% awesome as it is even when we pop in with little to no crowd. The Korean wings are the best! My wife had a new dish this time, clams w chorizo in wine sauce....WOW! They also have a great selection of craft beer and know how to make a cocktail with big block ice for bourbon. The Cajun fries are also awesome. The last thing I'll mention is that they have several varieties of absinthe. It's a cool experience that you may not remember the next day. LOL!

Great Food, Even Better Service

By res913 |

I have always enjoyed the Publik Atlanta before and after events at the Fox. Great food and warm hospitality is always the order of the day. This past Saturday, the 24th, a group of Leadership Atlanta alumni attended a Celebration of Life service for one of our fellow classmates at North Avenue Presbyterian Church. After the service, a group of us visited Publik Atlanta and the General Manager, Mr. Eddie Johnson went above and beyond to accommodate our group. McKenzie was our server and she was respectful of our situation and over served us over our entire visit. Thank you Eddie and McKenzie for making our time together a great blessing for all of us involved.

Don't go on show night!

By JMichaelH |

It's so tempting to stop in this restaurant right beside the Fox Theater before seeing a show. However they are likely to be understaffed and kitchen backed up. It took 20 mins to get our cocktails and after 45 mins our appetizers never arrived. Had to go inside from our patio table to find the server for our check then go back inside to pay. So disappointing.

A Neighborhood Go To!

By ah64fish |

We absolutely love Publik. We have friends who come in from out of town and ask, "can you take us back to that place you guys go to all the time on the corner." It's a go-to spot for the neighborhood and perfect before or after a show at The Fox Theatre. the food is great, the drinks are amazing and they usually have live music on Fri & Sat. The staff if friendly and laid back. Oh yeah, a little known surprise is their oysters....amazing!

Good place, lots of beer to choose from

By John S |

Stopped in and had a lamb burger with fries. Food was really good. It had many beers to choose from, they were moderately priced; two pale ales were $5 each, one was $9 (that one was expensive). I sat at the bar, I thought it was a nice place with a really good staff. I debated giving it a 5 out of 5, but the prices for drinks were just a tiny bit too high for that...still recommended.

Great place for great food.

By TheRoomReporter |

Great place for great food. Just about everything on the menu is good and they can cook to taste as well. The location is perfectly next to the historic Fox Theater. I work close by, so lunch is a great option too. I like their salad options as well. Enjoy!

Great atmosphere

By Mariana B |

I had dinner there on a Thursday night and it was pretty easy to get a seat. Usually they take reservations but I called and a big group had just left for a show, so we got in right away. The service was excellent, they even gave us some tips on where to go after dinner. I didn't see anything extraordinary on the menu. It was the usual bar food with a few modifications. Nonetheless, the food was incredible and the beer just perfect. I definitely recommend.

Always on point

By CAYTLien |

Stopped in last night for a quick drink before a show. Bar was full but service was on point. The beer options are great and the drink menu is well thought out. It's been a while since I've last eaten here but the food has never disappointed.

Very cool

By Ellebee |

Passed this a couple times as staying nearby so avoiding the theatre crowd as fox almost next door we popped in about 8pm. Fairly quiet then and got shown to seat by host in a fleece. On sitting I would normally take off my jacket and scarf but it was cool in there so I didn’t. In fact it was so cold in there I never took it off the entire time and clearly other folks felt same sat in jumpers and jackets. Anyway the menu is limited and the only thing we fancied was a burger which comes with Cajun fries. Thankfully they aren’t too spicy as that’s all they do and were tasty and we had room for chocolate torte and cheesecake for desserts. These were a bit stodgy and needed cream or ice cream really but ate them nevertheless. Server was an absolute star. I found the high chairs and tables particularly uncomfortable and little option to sit at regular height table and being cold and uncomfy we left as the band began to play.

Great food

By Sammi1910 |

We had some great food here as well as my partner having the choice of some various beers. The staff were very friendly and courteous.

Although a '5' last visit, this one even BETTER

By DGP1111 |

I'd dropped by once between my first visit [May 2017] to PDH and this most recent one . . . but had to skip dining, as it was on the night of a performance at Fox Theatre, and this place was totally packed, both inside and outside. That, alone, tells me I'm in lock-step with others who think PDH is pretty amazing. And it IS!! I, again, chose to sit at the bar, and was, again, provided the excellent service of Kristi. Was quite surprised that she remembered me from that initial visit, but it also made my opinion of the service level go up several notches. The food on first visit was memorable for ALL the RIGHT reasons, and this time the kitchen staff created something even better, which I didn't think possible. The portions were bigger and one of the dipping sauces even more tangy. Loved it all. I asked for assistance on choosing a draught lite beer, and the selection was perfect. Every seat at the bar, at times, was filled, and the service level, and attention to all present was equal, and top-quality. Nope, no disappointment or concerns whatsoever, and I will be certainly returning here on one of the next Atlanta visits. I enjoy trying new places when I'm visiting other cities/states on my frequent weekend excursions, but I also easily choose to repeat places that completely impress, and also make me feel welcome as a return guest. Thanks, PDH, and also Kristi!!

Terrible

By Steve S |

We stopped by there for a show at the Fox Theater for a night cap.The best part of our time there was when we left. We got seated promptly then everything went down hill. We ordered our drinks and a pretzel . Took a minimum of 10 minutes to get our drinks. In the mean time we were getting other peoples drinks an food. we finally got our drinks and after 20 minutes plus we asked where our pretzel was. The waiter said it will be right out. Then he proceded to the put the order in. It finally came out 15 minutes later. when we asked to speak with the manager he was too busy to talk to us.will not bore you with the other details . Bottom line would not waste your time .

Good, Not Great

By Theologator |

Publik Draft House looks like the type of place I’d love, but it wound up being just good. Their menu is ridiculously short and routine. Their draft beer list was limited as well. Service was warm and welcoming, though, so I’d give it another try despite the plethora of other options in midtown.

Mexican, Asian, UK fusion

By Blmhouston |

The menu certainly has something for everyone - duck enchiladas, Thai, lamb dishes and a house made vege burger were all on the menu when we went. The atmosphere is uptown street pub, service was good, and drink menu extensive.

What a great pub in midtown ATL

By Jeannie E |

Convenient to the Fox before or after a show, right across from the Georgian Terrace, a few TV's for sports watching but not overwhelming, great service, wonderful food (I had the ribeye and it was cooked perfectly), and thanks to Jack in the Hat for that awesome Tom Collins! Hope to see you all again at PDH very soon. By the way, 15$ pitchers of mimosas on weekend mornings - you can't beat it!

How does this place survive?

By Mary C |

Last night, three friends and I were seated outside the PDH at 6:15 PM. Our Uber driver had dropped us off in front of the Fox where were to see Bonnie Raitt at 8:00 PM. We had intentionally arrived early so we could dine somewhere local, and the very crowded PDH had much curb appeal, making our dining decision quick and easy. Our server told us she was new. No big deal. (Two of my daughters have been servers and I know how much they appreciated kind and understanding patrons.) She brought us our 2 beers and 2 glasses of wine, and waters. We ordered an appetizer, a burger, salmon, and 2 bratwurst specials. Our server checked on us from time to time, and we told her we were seeing a show that starts at 8 at the Fox. At 7:00 PM, we still had not gotten any food. Not even our appetizer. She assured us she had not forgotten us and would check on our food order. 7:15, still nothing, and we were running out of time. We were quite hungry as we had planned this date in advance and intentionally not eaten much all day in anticipation of a great dinner in the city. At 7:30, our server told us that our ticket had never been turned in-- and our food hadn't even begun to be made. Really?! We asked if she could just please bring us ANYTHING ---whatever was ready, we would eat it. She left and returned with some type of appetizer; I'm not sure what it was, but it was hot and delicious and we scarfed it down, paid for our drinks, and left. Here's what I think happened. I think the kitchen or wait staff was initiating/hazing our server-- because the ticket DID get turned in. We have no proof, but come on. Of course she turned it in! She was so embarrassed, and we felt bad for her. I will NEVER return to PDH and I will tell my friends about my experience. Really lousy way to start our night. But hey, Bonnie was fantastic and so was the popcorn!

I'm hard to surprise, but they got me here!

By jason n |

I went here by chance after a change of plans, and boy, was I surprised. I was expecting another bar with cool but shallow service and quality. NOT HERE! I tried a beer that I had never heard of, now it's my favourite, the bartender, (I'm sorry I forget your name, but you were working the night of the 13th, morning of the 14th-I hope your puppy is good btw) he was outstanding. I have managed hospitality, including bar/lounge area and I would hire this guy in an instant. All of this is good enough, but they even have VO food on the menu (huge thing when you are traveling as a Vegan) and it is a top-seller. This was a great spot to run into, I will be back!

When you order beer 5 times off the menu...

...and they don’t have any of them, run! Stupid of us to stay and endure the mediocre everything. Go somewhere else!

Great pre-Fox & late night dinner out!

By living villain |

As a huge foodie and former server/bartender, I am really picky about restaurants, but I’ve been here twice now and LOVE this place! October, 2019 visit was dinner before seeing Wicked at the Fox. Had the fish and chips, a 420 beer and loved it all! Their fried fish was great and their homemade remoulade sauce is awesome and so are their fries. Our server Kieryn was fantastic and had everything out in record time and made sure we were able to leave in time to make the show. Strongly recommend dining upstairs if possible, less crowded than downstairs. September, 2018 visit - We stopped here for a late dinner after a late hotel check in across the street at the Georgian Terrace hotel. Ordered dinner and drinks around midnight. I loved my awesome burger with Brie and mushrooms and my specialty drink, Heavens Gate. Our server, Mark, was very attentive and very polite. Definitely recommend if you’re in Midtown late at night and looking for dinner options or just to meet up with friends for drinks. Great vibe and casual atmosphere.

Wings-Rings and Beer!!!

By John Anthony |

Great place for an ICe Cold Beer and really good Onion Rings, Chicken wings are good too. Great place to watch a game and Hang. Service is very good. The food is Good. The Beers are Ice cold. This is one of my stops when in Atlanta.

Great Eats Before the Fox!

By Julie J |

My teenage daughter and I ate here last weekend before a show at the Fox Theater. She had the catfish and grits and I had the grilled cheese and fries. It was all amazing, but let me tell you about the fresh pickles on my plate....I could have stayed all day if they'd have kept them coming!!!! Our waiter was awesome, the food didn't take long to come out and he kept our drinks filled up. I'll definitely be back for more of those pickles and I want to try the Flat Iron Steak!!

LOVE THIS PLACE

By Tailored Travel Experiences |

Attending the Fox just wouldn't be the same without stopping in Publik Draft House for a lamb burger and beer. Their brunch menu is out of this world, too. They serve the best Bloody Mary's around. The atmosphere is casual and relaxing. A+

Awsome oysters

By Wendy K |

My daughter and I were in Atlanta and went here for lunch. This is my new favorite PLACE! we had calamari and oysters and they were excellent . We also went back after a show at the Fox for drinks, and this place ROCKS! I want to go back to Atlanta just to go here😊

Pre-Theatre Lunch

By MissMoorea |

We dined here today prior to a Broadway matinee at the Fox Theatre next door. We were seated promptly, waited 10 mins. to place our drink order and then proceeded to wait another 45 mins. until we received our lunch entrees. Our food selections tasted great but the service delay was totally unacceptable. We discovered that not only was the restaurant crowded with theatre patrons but it was also full of Atlanta United soccer team fans dining/drinking prior to a game today as well. Apparently, PDH is the official or favorite bar of the new soccer franchise (today's game was being played at nearby GA Tech). This could've been a positive review but clearly PDH is ill prepared to serve a crowd!

Excellent food, good service, does extra for patrons

By Tommy M |

We went to the Fox Theater for the evening show and ate dinner at the Publik Draft House. One of our party had difficulty walking and the staff went totally out of their way to find a table close to the front to reduce the required walking. A big shoutout to Eddie and Molly for taking the time to find this accommodation. Food was great, service was great as well as the atmosphere. A very busy place but the staff handled it well. Kudos!

Good Lamb Burger

By HawaiianHercules |

Came here for lunch on a Saturday before seeing Les Mis at the Fox. I said lunch, right? We were given lunch menus. It was noon. When a server asked for our order and we asked for the salmon BLT, he said they were out of it and actually didn't have anything on the lunch menu available. What?? Noon. Saturday. ??? He apologized that we'd been given the 'wrong' menus and gave us the dinner menu. So we all ordered burgers (which they did have). My lamb burger was great! The fries were OK. The iced tea tasted like it was from a can. I'm not sure who our server was, since no fewer than four different staff members came to our table. The restaurant is in a great location and is cute inside. Not sure about the execution, though.

Very nice little tavern near the Fox Theater

By BonnieT |

My husband and I had la late lunch here. They stop serving lunch at 4 PM and we got t here are little after 3. Our server was very nice. He seated us promptly. There was a bar area along one wall and high seated table along the other side, in front of the windows. I think all the tables were high. I am short and would have preferred a regular table, but I did not want to sit at the bar. The tavern has a huge supply of beers and wine and other drinks. My husband had a hefeweisse, one of the best he has ever drunk. He had the lamb burger with fries and a side order of cole slaw. I had the wedge salad with extra Gorgonzola cheese, made with grilled shrimp. Both of our orders were delicious. The shrimp on my salad were some of the best grilled shrimp I have ever tasted. My husband loved his lamburger--I hate lamb so I never make it at home. Our waiter was attentive and kind and we enjoyed our meal very much. Prices were moderate, at least at lunch.

Really fun and funny staff

By ojoboki |

I stopped in for a quick drink while waiting for my wife who was at a conference at the Fox Theater next door. I ended up having such a great time with the staff that my wife came over afterwards and we ended up staying for dinner and several more drinks afterwards. Food was outstanding, I had a Mediterranean lamb burger and cajun fries, wife had house cheeseburger and fries. The cooks were top-notch and spot-on. The bartender and manager both kept us laughing hysterically, were free with the beer samples and even treated us to a free dessert and drink cards afterwards. The whole staff was a well-oiled machine. I've been a restaurant cook and bartender and these people were some of the best I've seen. Can't recommend the place enough!

Saturday Brunch

By Bryanajones |

These guys cook breakfast on the weekend through to 3pm - the scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage was awesome. They make great cocktails. On this particular visit the boss was in on a Saturday afternoon and his passion for improving the already great service was refreshing as he motivated his staff. Brian the Bartender is a great mixologist

Dining delight

By RaeScott2014 |

Several friends and I had dinner here last week before seeing Celtic Thunder at the Fox Theatre. Friendly staff, great food. The only drawbacks were the crowded seating and the lack of good lighting on the stairs to the second floor dining area. Pricing was right inline with comparable dining places in the area. We would definitely try again.

Highs and lows

By WSU1986 |

Ate here before going to a show at the Fox Theater. Waiter was pleasant and personable. Recommend wedge salad (maybe a little heavy on dressing). Husband's sirloin steak was 30% fat - 3rd waiter we were not pleased - tool it off the bill. Friend's salmon was undercooked. Great list of beers and drinks. Cucumber jalapeno martini was refreshing - with a spicy kick. Would have a drink here again, but not eat.

Great burgers, fun vibe

By TravelingTammy1 |

This is a great place to grab burgers and local brews (they have other options for food and drink as well). Food was delicious, staff was friendly. Right across the street from hotel. Good location, felt safe walking at night.

Outstanding bar service!

A great little bar with fabulous cocktails. We sat at the bar on two different occasions and the service was excellent. The cocktails are prepared in a professional manner and were both consistent and delicious. The food we saw looked very good as well.

Surprisingly good cocktails

By Drscalia |

This is a great spot for a drink and a quick bite. Found it because we were staying nearby and wanted to walk somewhere. Kenzie the bartender made a perfect Vieux Carre - totally unexpected to even be on the menu let alone perfectly executed. The Smash burger was amazing and the Wedge salad complimented it perfectly. If you are staying at the Crowne Plaza Midtown Atlanta it is only a five minute walk.

Do Brunch!!!

The setting was awesome with both indoor and outdoor seating. I recommend doing brunch and grabbing those mimosas.

Before Wicked

By Mary Frances B |

Besides being right next door to The Fox, the food was wonderful. Six folks all ordering different items and everyone bragged on their food. The service was absolutely excellent too. This place is a winner.

3.5 Stars ..... if only food was as good as service

By jck |

Stopped in for lunch during the week since there were not many casual options nearby. You can tell by their location that they would be mobbed pre & post show at Fox Theatre. The service was awesome .... our server was attentive, funny & charming. We ordered drinks and they came promptly ..... menu looks great and there were many options I would have been very happy ordering. The food came out in normal time and was good .... just not great. I had a blackened salmon BLT and it was good but hardly blackened and the portion of salmon & bacon was lacking for the price ... good fries though. For a quick bite or drink, this is a very good place but it seemed pricey for what we received.

Excellent food, energized ambiance

By Lori T |

This is a great restaurant all the way around. I can't say enough good about the food. It is creative, delicious, and served up fresh and hot. The service is attentive, professional and friendly. Inside it is creatively decorated and there is a cool fun vibe. Outside there is a patio with tables for good weather days. We have visited twice in 3 weeks, and highly recommend.

Always a favorite

Late lunch early dinner. Not crowded yet. Great meal before the play at the Fabulous Fox Theater! Salmon and the sautéed spinach hit the spot😀 A great Resturant and consistently very good!

Great Burgers! Eat Outside!

Great Burgers!! Get there early so you can snap a table outside because the inside is VERY smoky (since it's a bar)

Great spot in the heart of Midtown Atlanta

Cold beer, a pretzel + salad along with good service, reasonable prices and a seat at the bar 2 steps from the Fox Theatre made for a perfect date with my sweet husband of 36 years.

Don't get the Brownie

By Samantha S |

Came in with a friend for a drink server was ok. Ordered a glass of wine and a brownie. Wine was really good but the brownie not so much. It was over cooked and hard. Could not get through it with a spoon. Server did not come back until she dropped the check so, did not mention it at that point.

Great place to eat, drink and hang out

By watergrinder |

Stepped in here for dinner and some drinks while on business trip. This place is awesome! Great ambiance, good music, perfect drinks and nice food. Our waiter was extremely friendly and helpful. Food arrived quickly and was very good - although the main issue here is the alcohol. Very recommended for a night out.

Great food and drinks

By ryanmulderig |

PDH has a great beer selection. They make a great Sazerac. The food is quite good. I enjoy every visit.

They have changed

By Todd P |

Not sure if there was a management change or not. Burgers just not the same as before fries not nearly as good We were served food last night before our drinks got to the table. Will say the place was busy after the show at the theater Maybe one more try. But if food isn't better than last evening. We will have to call this one quits

Our "Go To Place" when going to the Fox

By Topgun48 |

Never disappointed! Our server Lynette, was wonderful! I am on a salmon kick and the grilled salmon with chick peas was very good (portions smaller than in the past). Sautéed spinach was good, however I like a hint of garlic and lemon juice. The Bama Beauty Oysters on the half shell were excellent, just as Lynette had told me! My wife had tomato bisque which was very very good, a lettuce wedge with an excellent crumpled blue cheese and grits. We will return to Publik again next month!!

Great place to gather for fun or before a show

By Mark W |

Great food, great drinks, friendly service, convenient in Midtown or before a show at the Fox! Go for it.

A first visit, but definitely more to come. Fun!!

By DGP1111 |

I've passed by this location multiple times during visits to Atlanta (I'm from Orlando) but never really considered going in. I'm usually either just going for coffee at the shop directly across the street, or heading to the Fox Theatre . . . and if there is show starting or ending, this place would be very very busy, so I never considered stopping in. My loss for sure, as I really enjoyed my meal this past weekend. I chose to sit at the bar since I was dining solo. And as I mentioned to my totally superb bar server, Kristi, she provided her own level of theatre that didn't require Fox. She crafts unique beverages with pizazz and flare (and, occasionally, literally with flaming ingredients). I hoped I'd not be considered a pest by asking the names of some she created, and she kindly reacted to all with a smile. The lighting is a bit low here in the evening (especially at the bar), but still easy to read the menu. I chose the Catfish & Chip entrée, and some draught beers. Every single thing was tasty and enjoyable. Their beer list is rather tremendous, and the bar is stocked with probably any item a drink could ever require. If seated at the bar, you have a direct line of sight into the preparation kitchen. This will be my first-ever TA review to give a "5" to where I observed any sort of food service oops, but I'll just get past that. The meal was so surprisingly enjoyable and the service from Kristi was SO accurate and attentive, that I'm going to overlook that one challenge. Next time (and there will be a next for sure) I'll probably still sit at the bar, but in a different location. I can VERY easily recommend this restaurant to others with no hesitation whatsoever. I hope you'll get the same positive experience that I did. If you are heading to/from Fox Theatre you might want to really plan ahead so that you can even get in. I don't know if they accept reservations, but that might be helpful if they do. Just GO. Order a fun food choice, have Kristi make you something unique, and then enjoy your totally tasty meal.

Great place

Place is right next door to The Fox. Great atmosphere and the staff is great. Food is Ok the beer selection is great and the martinis are some of the best.

Fun Pub, Great Food, Awesome Service!

By MGreiff |

We were staying across the street at the Georgian Terrace and walked across the street for a late dinner. The place was still hoppin' and we loved the atmosphere. We didn't drink but there was a very large drink menu. The wait staff is off the charts! Do ask for their recommendations. I had the duck quesadillas and loved every bite. My co-worked had a burger and raved about it. Everything was freshly prepared and delicious. Did I mention the amazing wait staff? Very friendly, helpful and efficient. They get an A+.

Great food before a show

By cfuller05 |

Had drinks one night and then lunch and dinner before our show the next day. Drinks were very good and food was delicious. Food is a bit pricey, but it was a very popular location adjacent to the Fox. It was a very romantic meal and the service was fantastic. Make sure you get to here with enough time because it stays busy during shows!

Yummy food and tons of beers to choose from

By Elna S |

We came here twice because it was right across the street from our hotel. The food was great - I had mashed potatoes made from scratch and it was delicious! The bar is specialized in beer and the staff can guide you through the choices and find a beer to your taste.

Outstanding experience!!

We went here for lunch before seeing Fiddler on the roof at the Fox on a Sunday. I want to thank the owner/host for allowing us to sit at the bar while our friends arrived. Thank you!!!! Our server/bartender was excellent! She served me Vermonte Cabernet - very good. They have tremendous sweet potato fries. Our server said the lamb shank for lunch. This entrée was a great suggestion-tasty to the bone. Salads were also great. We will be back- first because of the owner, our server and also the food.

So good we visited three times over four days!!!

Love sitting on the corner watching the world go by and enjoying a cold draft, a mixed drink, or some great eats!!! We visited three times while we were in Atlanta and were not disappointed for our efforts. The staff are cordial and personable.

Gastropub in midtown, adjacent to the Fox Theater

By Jim W. |

Well, it's a new year and I finally interacted with a different business establishment, so it's review time. Today's entry is Publik Draft House at the corner of Peachtree Street and Ponce de Leon Ave. It is physically connected to the Fox Theater building. It may have had a previous life as a jazz cafe called Churchill Grounds, but I never managed to stop in there so I'm not 100% sure. This was a last-minute substitution for a lunch outing for work. I knew nothing about it going in. Our party of 5 arrived just after noon on a mid-week day. The restaurant has a modest sized dining area + bar on the main level and what appeared to be a partial 2nd floor / balcony arrangement (probably just for evening use). They were about 1/3 full when we arrived and filled up closer to capacity while we were there. The menu was described as 'gastropub', which I'd agree with. They had standard burgers plus other sort of sandwiches (salmon BLT, French dip, etc.). I think they had some salads as well, but I didn't pay that much attention. They had 2 types of fries: cajun (which seemed more like normal potato-based fries without any real spices) and sweet potato based. They also seemed to have an extensive beer selection, likened by some in our party to Taco Mac's. They had wine as well, but I didn't notice if they extended to 'full bar' selection or not. Portion sizes were decent, but not huge. I finished my burger and enjoyed it. Everyone in our party seemed to agree that the food was above average. As you'd expect for a place like this in midtown, there is no parking lot. There are pay-lots nearby and street parking further away (metered and otherwise). If you are walking in this area and need a decent meal, this is a very viable choice.

Awesome!

My friends and I ate here before seeing Wicked at the Fox. My hamburger was delicious and so were the cajun French fries! One friend had the Cobb salad and another had the fried catfish and sweet potato fries. All said their food was delicious. The cocktails we ordered were great, too! After the play we had dessert and coffee at PDH. Everything is delicious there! Try it. You might like it as much as we did!!

Delicious brunch

We enjoyed brunch with family both Saturday and Sunday. The food was delicious and the staff was efficient, accurate, attentive and friendly.

100% avoid

Great location .gloomy welcome with a blond hair woman who does not care at all of e customers . She is tired she always sits . Bad service . Only 1 waitress stands out of the crowd . Food is below acceptable . I could not finish my fries . I complain to the manager , he asked me who was my waitress . He does not understand anything about the restaurant business . She is not the one to blame there is no bad employee , only bad pilot. I paid 40 😛😘 USD for one of the most lousy time of my life. ! I don't like to write bad comments. But This restaurant takes advantage of this location , near to theater and hotel and maybe starving customers before or after the show.....take your distance ......

Stopped in for weeknight dinner

By sparksjr |

Stopped in for weeknight dinner with coworkers. Nice atmosphere but small with limited seating. Service was great and the burger I had was very good. Was a little loud due to size and live trivia but you shouldn’t expect a quiet dinner at a place like this. Everyone enjoyed it!

Disappointing experience

By Kris B |

We walked in at 8:20 and were told they were getting ready to close and only had the late night menu available. We should have left, but we didn't. We had limited dinner options and felt very rushed throughout the entire meal. We were out of there quickly and couldn't tell you what we ate for a bill that ran nearly $100 with only 1 beer and 1 cocktail on the ticket.

Excellent food, excellent service

By BacktoRome |

The host readily accommodated my request for outdoor seating. The server was genuinely polite and helpful. The special of the day was shrimp curry, and I have to say that it was one of the finest renditions of that dish that I have ever eaten. My husband enjoyed his burger as well.

Perfect location

By 2happi |

Since we were attending a show at the Fox Theatre this restaurant is right on the corner next to the Fox!!! We were seated upstairs and started with water & Gorilla grape soda!!Korean wings were soo good and flavorful! Followed by lamb burger & apple walnut salad--all very very good. It was not too crowded and was a plus to be able to catch some football on the TVs till it was time to walk to the theatre.

Good beer and service

By KenMcL149 |

This is right across the street from The Georgian Terrace and a great place to go for a change of pace. Lots of different beers on tap and different, very good pub type foods besides the usual burgers. Staff is very attentive and knowledgeable of the beers and food.

Very rude and lying hostess - Jan 28, 2018 around 3 pm.

By Darrell M |

The hostess tried to seat us at the back next to the very smelly rest rooms. When I said I wanted the empty high top tables near the front, the hostess told me the tables were reserved to the handicapped. When I tried to ask her some questions, she just turned and walked away. As far as I know, wheelchairs do not reach that high and there was not a sign indicating the tables were reserved. The only thing that I could think was that she doesn't like mixed race couples. We just walked out.

This place benefits greatly from its location next to the Fox Theater.

I doubt I'd ever go here if it wasn't next door to the Fox Theater where my wife and I attend several shows each year. The cocktails are really good and they know how to make the classics. There's a really good lineup of whiskies. The beer list is really good wfeaturing many local and craft selections with a style for every palate. Wine list also good. The service is mostly good- WAY better at the bar. Fair warning- this place gets jammed before a show but they work hard to move you along in time to get to you there on time. The food is pricey for what is only average food. Not bad. Just...average. But a decent enough place for a pre-show drink and meal. We have been here several times and will probably go back depending on our mood (really elegant meal or just a bite and a brew before the show?). When we're in the mood for the latter we'll go to PDH.

Solid, creative pub fare.

Have had a couple out of the ordinary dishes here that I enjoyed, including bbq chicken sliders with kimchi. Good place for lunch in a semi challenging area of town where a decent meal is not as easy to find as it should be.

My friend and I had just landed from Dallas on an American trip we planned from South Africa. We stepped out of the train station and decided to walk into this establishment not knowing what to expect. Now we had bags with us and all we wanted was a quick bite and then look for a place to roam around while waiting for our check-in time. Long story short, we were welcomed with arms wide open. Bigger than those of the cutest Panda you've seen. Well not quite but you get where I'm going right? The food was absolutely amazing. The craft beer collection is enough to leave you thinking you've experienced tastes from all over the world in one drink. You can guess what I'm going to rate this place. A 10 out of 10. A lovely place, great food and fantastic company. I wanna build an apartment right above this place.

Went here with some friends and my boyfriend. We were waited on by the manager and she was hitting on my boyfriend the whole night, enough to give him her number. Such blatant disrespect, I don’t even care about the food at this point.

great food

Love the food at PDH

By Tom P |

We come to PDH for food and drinks every chance we get. They are located across the street from our favorite hotel in Atlanta, so we never have trouble coming up with an excuse to go there. Great food!! Great beer selection. Wonderful friendly wait staff.

Always good food & fast service

By Gretvaloth |

This was our second time there dining before a show at the Fox theater & so far we're 2 for 2. Staff very friendly. The wait staff just as friendly & personable. Orders come out quick. Food is always good. So far we've tried the pretzels are amazing, salmon scrumptious, wings ok ( spicy & peppery, which I don't care for), kids cheese melt good, fries good flavors, burger & salads a good serving & yummy. Duck quesadillas were good too. Def wish there was one closer to us in the mountains....

Decent neighbourhood bar if staying at nearby Crowne Plaza

By Hanlor |

Reviewing for anyone stating at local hotels and wanting a place to hang out rather than hotel bar. THis is a couple of blocks from Crowne Plaza / Staybridge Suites (other side of Marta station) and has a nice feel to it. Very decent selection of craft beers. Food menu is limited and the burger I had was pretty average. Friendly and welcoming service. Beats sitting in a hotel bar !!

For tourists, and theater-goers

By spingal26 |

The beer is fine. The food is marginal. The service is slow slow slow. I went for lunch with my husband and another couple because we happened to be in the area on a Saturday afternoon and it was full of tourists and people going to a matinee at the Fox Theater. So now you know what it's for. Not the food, but the convenient location.
