Meeting with a large group

By 10ringtraveler |

A group my wife belongs to had their monthly meeting here, there were about 75 of us so we crowded the place up a bit. The staff were right on top of things and had the appetizers out very quickly and made sure everything was ready for the group. The staff was very attentive and kept the flow going, soon as a plate was emptied it was bussed and replaced! All while having a good attitude! A couple of glassed were dropped and the staff was very quick to make sure no one stepped on it and had it cleaned in no time. The food was very good, we only had appetizers but those being a sample of what the rest of the menu is like, we will be returning to this place! It was very clean, inside and out. There is ample parking on the side of the business. The strong point of this restaurant is the staff, they all worked very well together and all had great attitudes!

All around amazing !

This is the second time we have dined at this restaurant and I must say it is now 5 stars. The food, ambiance and service is absolutely top notch. We are excited to embrace this establishment and support it wholeheartedly! Excellent management!

Upscale gourmet Mexican food

By Emily B |

Excellent upscale Mexican food in PB. I celebrated my birthday here with my family. We are tough Mexican food critics, and we were all pleasantly surprised. The food was authentic and delicious. I’m so mad I didn’t take a picture of my meal because the presentation was awesome. I ordered the molcajete Mar y Tierra. Basically surf and turf in an awesome spicy sauce. The chips and guac were super bomb, and we also ordered the street corn and queso. Yum! Of course we had to try the churros for dessert and they were amazing! Olé!

Great seafood, service, and setting

By rOgeraf2014 |

Andrew provided us with extremely professional and perfectly attentive service while he was busy running the entire dining room and bar for a light but steady crowd during before dinner hours. We dined on the patio in a beautiful and relaxing garden. The inside dining room and bar are nice with a warming fire. All three dishes we had (listed below) were excellent and generous. We were visiting Mission Beach and hope to return soon to try more of their extensive and interesting menu.

Stay away from the beef dishes

By Charles S |

My family recently ate at Pueblo in San Diego. Our dining experience had some good elements but the few bad dishes ruined our experience. The good: the margaritas were solid and the carnitas were above average. The bad: the carne asada (and other beef dish) we had were really bad. The meat was of very poor quality with none of it being tender. My family eats Mexican-inspired food often and this was the worst quality of beef we've ever eaten. So if you go - lean towards the margaritas and the pork or seafood dishes.

Fantastic food

By N108INstevenb |

What a gem. Great menu with lots of choices. Amazed at the gluten and dairy free offerings. They went the extra mile in providing for our special needs. Service was great as were the cocktails. Dining on the rooftop was great very quiet and just the right amount of lighting. Portions were large enough to satisfy our 20 year old. All of our dishes were served quickly. Tried to get in 2 nights later and waited 30 minutes, should make reservations. Next time we travel to Pacific Beach will eat here again.

Looks great, poor food execution

By ilBuckeye |

The restaurant is located a short 2 blocks away from the hustle and bustle of The Pacific Beach boardwalk. The restaurant is beautiful, looking slightly upscale. We did not have reservations so had to eat inside near the bar area. There were several TVs with football on. We were disappointed with the food. My fish tacos looked fantastic, however the fish itself was bone dry. My wife’s seafood enchiladas looked great but were mushy and unappealing. Our waiter was on the gruff side, he insisted the enchiladas were their best dish. Ultimately we were not impressed and couldn’t recommend.

A great place for lunch or dinner

By Aspenthecat |

Excellent food & service. We have had lunch here twice. Having a group of five we were given a small room that can be left open or closed off as needed. There is a variety of items on the menu which are delicious and moderately priced. The service is excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant. There is also a small parking lot attached. The menu is Mexical flavor.

A few flaws, but tasty

By Stefan M |

Well, they left us standing on the entrance for ten minutes! They saw us, and they had time, but they just didn’t bother. And they brought us the bill before we had the chance to ask for a desert. Having said all this, the quality of the food certainly is above average in this place.

Food was great!

By Kjay200 |

Although the waiter seemed pleasant but absent, the food and drinks were amazing. We sat on the pretty patio and enjoyed a beautiful evening.

Nice contemporary Mexican restaurant.

By Bob L |

Pueblo is a nice place to meet friends and enjoy good drinks and food. The service was good, atmosphere was warm and lively, the menu provided a good variety of seafood, chicken, beef and pork dishes. They also offer vegetarian and gluten free plates. My wife and I enjoyed everything about this place and we would definitely return.

Lots of Vegan Options

By LifeIsGoodGuy |

Nice setting, nice staff, vegan options. Vegan enchilada nice taste, too much tofu. Short walk from the pier.

terrible.

By Go11929 |

Tasteless food with slow service. Pricey menu. I would not recommend it. Food was too salty. The only thing that was good was chips. Server was nice but she was probably overwhelmed. It was friday night. Never going back there again.

Very nice meal with family

By ScottsdaleDave |

Had the opportunity to dine here with my wife and daughter and had a very nice meal. The molcajete was amazing. If you've never eaten this culinary delight, treat yourself as soon as possible. My seafood burritos was yummy and everything was equally good. Very accommodating to my wife's eating challenges.

Amazing Experience

By Liz P |

From start to finish this experience was amazing. The staff was attentive and happy to help. Our waiter Gustavo was excellent. On the ball and for a party of 22 none of us had to wait. The food was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend the lobster queso fundido and red sangria. Yummy! Made our work dinner very charming from our own menu to outside seating. We will definitely be back. So close to the water made for a nice walk after.

Stands Out From All The Rest! Excellent food, wonderful margaritas and relaxing environment in beautiful Pacific Beach!

By SleepyBearLaJolla |

My wife and daughters had a great time here after a long day playing at the beach. In San Diego there are so many places to eat Baja inspired seafood and have a Margarita, but this place stands out and shines. The food was absolutely delicious (we tried the lobster and carnitas tacos which were out of this world) to the great atmosphere and wonderful and unique selections of margaritas and spirits, Pueblo really had it all. We will defiantly be back soon making this one of our family favorites!

Great food and a calm atmosphere, handy to the beach.

By WoodinvilleWill |

We were staying at the Ocean Park Inn. Most dinner places nearby featured alcohol in plastic cups and loud music. At Pueblo the margarita is in a glass with salt on the rim, like it should be. There is no thumping music and you can easily talk with the person you are eating with. Add to that the wait staff is pleasant and efficient, the food is quick and well prepared, and the menu is great.

everything was GREAT!

By Anna Beth G |

My 23 year old son and I were here on Monday, Oct.14th and Jarid was our server. Everything was GREAT! The food, the service, the ambiance. Couldn't have asked for better! Thank you!

Terrible Service

By O2046HElindaw |

We sat outside. I had to turn over the seat cushion as there was food, fresh food on it, no one had cleaned it. The hostess just smiled. We were given menus, water and chips. Wait staff said he would bring the habanera salsa right away. Two other tables were sat while we waited - 20 minutes - they had their orders taken while wait staff walked right past our table, actually one of the tables was right next to ours. I left a $1 on the table and we walked out. The hostess thanked us - don't bother going unless you enjoy being ignored. I kept thinking we had the Harry Potter Invisible cloak on us

Drinks and dining

By PaxMar19 |

We had a great meal a the bar. The bartender was very friendly. We enjoyed our mixed drinks- I had the Smoke y Fuego which was similar to a margarita but with habanero seasonings (and half a pepper for garnish!). The tacos were delicious and the fish was fresh.

Amazing time at Pueblo in San Diego

By Kristin M |

We had a truly wonderful time at Pueblo. The food was amazing - we especially enjoyed the seafood enchiladas and the tacos. Then, the cocktails were truly next-level! The paloma was delicious, and my friends said the margaritas were some of the best they have ever had. Then, let's go to service! Alli was our server - she was exceedingly responsive and fun. One of my favorite things at a restaurant is when the Executive Chef comes out to talk to guests. Well, we had that experience with Angel. His visit to our table was the perfect capstone to our night. Highly recommended.

Great food and service

By Sonya S |

Our family had dinner here while staying in Pacific Beach. Such good food, delicious tacos. Margarita wine cucumber was so yummy. Highly recommend this place.

Better than Excellent!!!!!!

By Anna M |

The first thing that hits you when you walk into this inviting airy restaurant is the beautiful interior! I have eaten at hundreds of places and I think it is the most beautiful I have ever seen! The only thing to equal its decor is the food! Not the regular texmex fare, each dish is unique and incredibly tasty!Hints of Peru, Ecuador, and Baja flavors! Great care was taken in the kitchen to serve savory dishes. We had a selection of tortilla soup, seafood ceviche, carnitas tostadas, carne asada, cilantro mussels, and of course fabulous house margaritas. Good selection of craft beers on tap too.

Really good

By Smillerick |

Pretty sad I think that last month I travel to Mexico and had far better authentic Mexican food than Mexico. Maybe Mexican food is horrible and this restaurant makes it good? Either way I had a great Margarita or two. The nachos were great and my grouper tacos were amazing! Staff was incredibly nice and helpful. The atmosphere is great and clean. Just a terrific place.

Great fine dining Baja / Mexican

By Frenchfrog39 |

I really love this restaurant. Maître D and barman are super friendly and entertaining, the cocktails second to none and the food really delicious. Fresh fish beautifully cooked with perfect Bajan rice and spices, best dish taco so far and very tasty meat. Plate presentation was very nicely done. Restaurant design is also a big success, modern and friendly at the same time, not posh, not pretentious, just done with great taste.

So good, came back for Lunch

By Brian C |

This restaurant has apparently gotten a new chef from what we were told, so I don't know if I'd take too many older reviews at this point. From what we saw this is a very good option if you are looking for local cuisine with a bit more elevation. I am sure some may find this restaurant a bit pricey, but that is a complaint I don't usually take too seriously, especially when dealing with more upscale establishments. The food was very good, and the margarita's were better. I suggest trying the dessert menu as well, so save some room. The Smoked Marlin Tacos, and the straight Fish Tacos were what made us come back again for lunch. Also, one of the few restaurant/bars that we found in Pacific Beach that had higher end tequila's.

Just a great place to eat.

By Ben L |

Great place near the beach. I’m from the Northeast so I usually don’t get good Mexican food or Baja cuisine. This really blew me away. The empanada appetizer was amazing, hard to describe it any other way. I also had the Arroz a la Tambada for a main course. The seafood was beautifully cooked, the broth was both subtle and deliciously flavorful, and overall it was just incredible. It’s also a two block walk from the beach so you can relax afterwards watching the sun set over the Pacific.

Fantastic food and service

By russkwtx |

We went here twice during our vacation. Fabulous food. First time, we had lunch. Ceviche was excellent ($9), and we ordered the smoked tuna tacos and the carnitas tacos. Both excellent. Both $12. Some of the best Mexican I have had. Upscale, sophisticated, yet not pretentious. Portions are reasonable and not too small or too big. Thrown in a couple delicious Pueblo margaritas and you have yourself a great day. We liked it so much we returned for New Years Eve dinner, price fixe: 4 courses, $40. Incredible deal. Started with pork tamale, fabulous. Then black ceviche, again, fabulous. Best we ever had, and we love ceviche. I got the surf and turf. Lobster enchilada was out of this world good. The carne asada was just average, needed salt and did not taste like skirt steak. The wife ordered grouper and loved it. We were both stuffed after dessert. A really good deal for delicious food. Our waitress Josslyn was wonderful, friendly and helpful. Good tip for her! This place is so good that I would consider returning to San Diego simply to eat here again. One of the best Mexican places we have ever eaten. We were told that the restaurant hired a new chef about a month ago, so I hope they keep him.

Go for Taco Tuesday

By RealW0rldTraveller |

This is a chic restaurant just off Pacific Beach. Also nice that it is clean and modern, unlike most restaurants off Mission and Pacific Beach. Definitely recommend you go for Taco Tuesday with tacos only $4.00 each. The highlight for us was the Lobster Tacos but the fish and pork tacos are really good as well. Be sure to ask for the verdi and the hot sauces which really complement the tacos.

Excellent Food in a Modern Setting

By capriskman |

The location is a little off the beated path, but the restaurant is well designed reflecting modern design. The food and drinks are excellent take on Bahia Mexico with a little American fusion. Staff are firendly and the seating is confortable. The signature margaritas are worth exploring. Parking is available nearby and reservations are recommended during peak times. Excellent experience.

Great dinner and superb service

By froney |

Excellent food and great service. Food was great especially in the evening. Went for lunch on may 5th and the quality wasn’t as good as dinner.

Great margaritas and food in a beautiful setting

Lobster Tacos on Tuesday. Nice happy hour drink and small plate menu. Outdoor seating with cozy heaters. Very good service.

INCREDIBLE PORK TACOS!! best new place around by a 15 mi radius

By AlohaJbT |

WOW!! 5 star food, service, ambiance what a welcomed NEW addition to PB - yes it'as been here for several months. maybe even a yr but havent made it there till recently - what was i missing? a lot! THE FOOD! gourmet, exquisite, down right EPIC they go WAY BEYOND EXCEPTIONAL HERE - first class ingredients and it shows and tastes like it. no expense spared in top-notch ingredients THE PORK CARNITAS TACOS ALL YOU CAN EAT SUNDAY for $15 - CANNOT BE BEAT ANYWHERE! they are GENEROUS, with many salsa choices and the taste is as good as the best kalua Hawaiian pulled pork you'll get. Rich, smokey, soft. micro green arugula on top- what more can you want. The drinks are also unique and exceptional - you can thank MARTY for those creations - some great varieties of margaritas and other drinks of that type with many house infused vodkas/tequilas THE SERVICE: Gracious, friendly, non pretentious AND VERY WELCOMING! Marty (bar tender), Ricardo (host/ manager) - were both so incredibly welcoming they made us feel right at home from the moment we got inside. THE AMBIANCE very stylish, very "coastal baja" and very elegant but not stuffy. this is the style you'll find at a high end place in Cabo or Oxaca not in SD. It is warm, inviting and vibrant. THE PRICES remarkably REASONABLE - for the quality it is steal, for the service, it is a deal. it is well worth it and not at superficial La Jolla prices at some places that bank on an ocean front view. THE BEER: UNIQUE selection of mexican beers that will REALLY IMPRESS THE FINEST PALATE of super geeky craft beer snobs. they have some rare, mexican made ipa's, imperials, stouts, lagers and a list that you will not find anywhere. if you're tired of the "craft beer scene" where all the beers start to taste a lot a like and can get anywhere, then go and have their selection which you wont find anywhere or very few places

Great margarita menu!

By Joanne Y |

What a nice restaurant in Pacific Beach! I enjoyed a delicious margarita and good conversation with the bartender. The decor is really upscale and just what this part of town needs.

Fabulous food, service and venue

By Karen H |

Firstly if I could give this restaurant more than 5 stars I would. This venue is a bit more up market than most at PB and being a little way back from the beach a little harder to find. The decor is beautifully done and presents a very Cali-Baja atmosphere, very smart but still laid back. There are tables on the rooftop with some ocean views but we chose one inside so we could soak up the atmosphere. The menu matches the style with some traditional Mexican dishes mixed with more Californian traditional type food. We went early (16:30) to have cocktails and so managed to secure a table. Firstly the service from the bartender was excellent. They have a lot of beers some brewed locally. The barman helped my husband choose one by asking questions about what tastes he preferred finally getting it down to two. He then gave him a shot glass with each beer to help him make a final decision. I settled on the Marguerita which was one of the best I have tasted. We also had a snack at the bar with our drinks which complimented the whole experience and the drinks perfectly. We weren't rushed and eventually made our way to our table where our waiter helped us choose from the menu helping us to understand some of the details and descriptions. I had a salad starter with a delicious dressing. My husband chose the steak as a main which was cooked exactly as he likes it. I had a traditional Mexican meat dish both were amazing. We have been in California for two weeks traveling from San Francisco down to San Diego and have visited some fabulous restaurants but this was easily the best meal we have had during our trip. Pueblo has managed to combine the decor and service expected in good French restaurant with a standard of food equally good but yet still feel friendly and un-fussy in typical laid back California style. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and we will be going again before we go home.

Good not great

By RealW0rldTraveller |

We have been to this restaurant several times over the last few years. It is a nice quiet spot just off Pacific Beach. Food is good but not spectacular. Unfortunately we missed “Taco Tuesday” and would argue this is when the restaurant really shines, all other days it is just OK. I would definitely recommend their margaritas, they are some of the best in San Diego.

Best lunch I had during my San Diego visit

By Jossos |

What a great restaurant is this. Staff is really nice and the food they serve is really really good. All with Mexican touch ofcourse. The dishes look nice preparred and time is taken for that. So if you are close by it is an absolute must to go there.

Super fresh; great vibe

By HebbieDacker |

Nice patio (overlooking the Tuesday Farmer’s Market), inviting bar and bright, open dining area make Pueblo a good stop for date night, business meeting or quick lunch. We had the posole, fish tacos, and a very tasty margarita. Everything was very tasty with bright flavors. I want to come back for the octopus tacos or the fresh salmon. Pueblo isn’t just tacos (which are great!) There are impressive looking salads and entrees as well. Can’t wait to go back!

Enjoying our time in California

By CruiseElisa |

The food was fantastic, wonderful fresh ingredients. The specialty drinks were unique and delicious. Another one for my go to list.

Chic ambience

By NorCalPal |

Love this restaurant's modern Mexican decor and vibe! Turquoise blues and whitewashed walls with modern furnishings and a lovely dining patio with a lighted tree in the center. Gypsy Kings and Latin jazz guitar playing on the sound system. The appetizers were fantastic, especially the lobster queso fundido and the flatbread topped with spicy shrimp, and my dining companion loved his carne asada. My own fish tacos were disappointing-- way too much fried batter for my taste-- but the desserts made up for it: lovely fruit sorbets and churros with dipping sauces. Will definitely return.

Great food and service

By Lesley B |

Such yummy food! We sat outside and had the ceviche for a starter and then I had fish tacos and my husband had the molcajete mar y tierra. It was really delicious and we had no room for dessert!!

Fun evening

By Julie A |

We arrived in San Diego today and headed here for dinner after reading great reviews, we weren't disappointed. Our waiter was superb, he helped us with the menu for our 11 year old son and was generally just so friendly and kind. I had the scallops and shrimps for my main which was pretty good especially after all the meat that everywhere else offers. My son had tacos which he loved. Massive wine selection. Price was pretty reasonable. Definitely recommend.

Great Early Meal

By howardlh19 |

Ate here for the first time last night. So impressed. Prices are maybe $4-$5 higher than traditional mex restaurants. But the food I’d that much better. Presentation and flavors are great. Wish they were a little more in our bubble. But will definitely go back.

A wonderful change from the ordinary

By fablok |

I noticed the decor immediately, and was impressed by the clean simple lighting and glass accents. Classy, but still comfortable and welcoming. My husband had what he said was the best margarita he'd ever had. This one was made with a good quality blanco tequila. My martini was perfect - dry and icy cold. The serviche changes depending on what's freshest. It was salmon that night and delicious. I was surprised at the generous portion for the price. We also tried the seafood enchiladas. Those were nicely cooked, and not too cheesy or saucy. Blue corn chicken taquitos were also delicious - again a lot of value for the price. Great service. I highly recommend Pueblo in the Pacific Beach area of San Diego.

Delicious and cool vibes

By WestCoastRestless |

We sat outside upstairs. Really nice and open with a modern vibe. Food was great. We had the spiced shri.p tacos which were delicious. Try the spiced margi!! A bit pricey for a family of four, but a great way to end our San Diego vacation.

Solid Choice for Mexican in pacific beach!

By Jayme |

Nice atmosphere, clean modern vibes with an authentic feel. The service was quick and very friendly but not at all rushed. The food was delicious and also felt very authentic. We got the seafood enchilada, the pot filled with chorizo, shrimp and carne asada (can’t remember what it was called) and carne asada plate. Everything was super delicious. We also got the Mexican corn and nachos. Everything was top notch and fair prices. The margaritas were also excellent. Would highly recommended this restaurant!!

Mexican Dinner at your millionaire friends groovy house

By WanderTheBest |

Pueblo went all out to create this beach city experience. Good Mexican Food is available in many forms around San Diego but nothing with an atmosphere like Pueblo. Big glass vistas recede into the wall to a romantically lit patio & fireplace, with a rooftop venue on the weekends. The "House" feel of pueblo is welcoming you will feel like you are visiting someone's very nice home. The Mexican dishes employ different flavors and sauces than you would envision, all of which were tasty. Their tequila offering and select margaritas are very good for even the pickiest of tequila fans, & the other half of our group loved the wine list. The owner visited our table which always adds that sense of caring, we'll return next time in Pacific Beach.

Great food

By tnossett |

Our large group went here after reading all the great reviews. No one was disappointed. Service was good. Everything was delicious from the Sea bass, Seafood enchilada, Scallops, Salmon & Grilled Shrimp salad. Highly recommend.

Amazing New Modern Baja Coastal Pueblo Restaurant!!

By debraannroth |

Pueblo Restaurant is amazing! The food is so delicious with a beautiful presentation! Staff was very friendly and efficient. Mark Oliver, the owner, a native from San Diego has created a beautiful restaurant with a creative menu in a very fun environment! The decor is very impressive with coastal blue and green accents. Pueblo adds one more element of fine dining at the Beach! We highly recommend it!

Not great. Very rushed and bad service

By damian w |

Visited pueblo on a recommendation from our hotel. Looked nice and welcoming. Our host was friendly and sat us inside. The waiter came over and gave us tortilla chips and dip which were warm and pretty good. He said he’d get some waters while we decided on our order. 5 minutes later he returned to take the order without the water. We ordered drinks and our food. He said he’d come back with the waters. Drinks turned up. Nice margaritas but no water . 5 minutes later the starter turned up, still no water. We asked a different waitress and she reminded our waiter so they eventually turned up. The house nachos were good, But not particularly hot. 10 minutes later before we’d finished the nachos our mains turned up and were pretty much chucked on the table by a different waiter. My wife and son had enchiladas. Both said they weren’t very nice, quite bland and not very hot either. I had the tuna fillet which was ok. My wife was offered another dish as she wasn’t enjoying hers at all, but by this time she’d lost her appetite. The waiter then appeared before I’d finished my main and put the dessert menu next to me. We got the impression they just wanted us out as quick as possible so we decided not to bother. From sitting down at 7.30 we’d had a starter and main and finished by 8.10. We asked for the check and paid. And were out of there by 8.15. Overall not a good experience and poor service. Our last meal in San Diego was definitely the worst.

Great Restaurant

By lucretia4321 |

Lovely interior, wonderful food and great service. Mexican infused menu, pretty bar area and a fun weekend roof top dining. Will be back next time we are in San Diego.

Great Vibe, Good Food, Service, Wasn’t the Best

By Scotland222 |

We had a family dinner here at Pueblo and we had a fairly nice time. The atmosphere was nice. They bring out chips and salsa and they were very good but the salsa was quite thin but had a good flavor. Their guacamole was made just right and everyone at our table had enjoyed that. Our waiter told us that he had just started working there just three days earlier so I guess that's why when I had ordered a spicy drink called Kick-Ass...can’t remember the rest...that had no spice what so ever to it, he told me to put some jalapeño peppers into it instead of offering to take it back to the bartender to spice it up. We were served one glass of water each that stayed empty, never to be refilled. He was pre-occupied with a table of 5 that sat down after we were seated which seemed to have gotten excellent service, not sure why that was. We were still very generous with our tip for the not so great service because he was nice. I think he was just overwhelmed with too many tables possibly. The food was pretty good except for my steak tacos. I hate gristle and fat on my meat and I had two pieces of it in my two tacos. Trim the fat for the price you charge! My friends tell me that it is usually better then the night we went which was a Weekday...maybe it was an off night...for me, personally, with so many options for tacos in San Diego, I prefer The Fish Shop in Pacific Beach over this place but Pueblo does have them beat if you are looking for atmosphere...

Friendly staff and quick service

By Christina T |

We came at prime dinner time and even with the place packed they seated us quickly. Food prices were standard for the area. Food came quickly and was served warm and tasted good.

Best All Around in PB

By Marti_R_Cortez |

With a group of 8, this seemed to be a place that would cater to all of our different tastes...and we SCORED!! The ambience is so nice, relaxed, elegant and casual at the same time. The manager greeted us and our server (bad on us for not remembering her name) was friendly, attentive and didn't miss a beat, even with our large group. We had a lot of different items, but of exceptional note, the sea bass - catch of the day=fabulous, the yellowtail ceviche=sooo delicious, the salmon tartar=yummy, carnitas tacos=can't get any better....even the bean and cheese burrito on the kids menu was very tasty. The desserts disappeared quickly * creme brulee and chocolate mousse. We would go back here again without any hesitation!!!

Excellent couples dinner!

By Ranger24x7 |

Four of us visited for dinner. Mexican coastal dishes, all fresh ingredients, high quality drinks, and attractive ambiance - tables are nicely spaced, attentive and friendly staff, easy to carry on a conversation, even on a busy night. Far better than the beach bars/pubs/restaurants... take your date or spouse here. Will return

Great food amazing atmosphere.

By travelingdan1975 |

We happened upon this restaurant by accident during an evening of exploration around Pacific beach. The restaurant has a nice open air feel to it. The decor is modern with an old world charm. The food was good and a great take on traditional Mexican dishes. The service was outstanding and the atmosphere felt a little more upscale but the prices were very reasonable. I will definitely back on my next visit!!

Enjoyable

By Zulu |

Great food and service. He licked his plate. I over ordered but ate most. Far better Mexican food than the usual glop served north of the border. Pretty place.

Very long waiting.

By Vsevolod D |

The restaurant at all is good and ambitious. The prices are moderate and meal sizes are good enough. Meal is testy and interesting. The only thing that made this bad was long time of waiting. That was about 40 minutes to wait our meal and made us annoyed.

Lovely restaurant,great food

By anniefield |

This is more of an upscale Mexican restaurant with great food and drinks and a lovely atmosphere. The corn on the cob was so delicious as was the Baja burrito, the daily fish dish and also the ribs. Wonderful cocktails too. We are returning to PB in January and is definitely on our list.

Nice new Baja restaurant

By gzau |

Pueblo is a nice new Mexican/Baja restaurant. They have parking in the back. The place looks new and very open with a good bar. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The food is pretty good but nothing special. Not a bad place to have a drink and relax with a friend in Pacific Beach area. There was a piglet being roasted in the patio when i was there for lunch. It looked good.

Dinner

By Emory B |

Very nice place for a casual dinner. Young crowd, a little noisy for the older over 55 age group. Excellent service with a nice selection of entrées.

Dry fish

By Reslimpan |

Puebla is a nice looking restaurant with a very nice bar. It offers inside as well as outside dining. It gets busy on the weekend so a reservation is a good idea. Extensive menu on all fronts - drinks, beer, wine and food. Unfortunately the latter disappoints. Overcooked dry fish with no favor is hardly impressive. My company had a vegetarian dish and she was happy with hers. Service was professional and good. I would give it another try, perhaps the fish fryer had a bad day.

Two plant based eaters expectations well surpassed

By Daniel B |

The chips and salsa were great! We ordered guac that tasted very fresh. I had the vegan shrimp tacos, the best I have tried to date, and my date had the spinach and mushroom enchiladas w a side of habanero salsa. Everything was great! The house mezcal, rayu, was excellent. Lastly, Luke, our server, was amazing! Overall great experience!

Indoor and outdoor seating and an interesting menu

By Jan W |

Lots of entrees to choose from. I ordered the chicken taco salad and it was very good. The day we were there the place seems to be understaffed so it took a while for the food to arrive. The staff was friendly and working hard to accommodate all of their customers. The complementary chips were a disappointment and need an alternative seasoning beyond what appeared to be sprinkled paprika. The salsa was not very flavorful and was served in small bowls which didn't go very far at our table of six.

Excellent Mexican food with California flair. Great fish options!

By Mer57maid |

We wanted seafood options with our Mexican food and this did NOT disappoint! Casual, clean atmosphere on a quiet street away from the hustle and bustle. Outdoor dining was available, but we chose indoor dining due to a little cold snap when we were there. Excellent cocktails, guacamole, chips, birria empanadas and delicious fish tacos. The chimichanga was delicious as were all the items our group ordered. Fast, friendly service from Lillian! Would return to try more dishes!

By panteha s |

Do NOT eat at this place if you like your life! I would never exaggerate about a review unless the chef was adamant about making the customers sick. I ordered 2 appetizers, before the 5 meals and 2 rounds of drinks for 5 people. Upon taking the 1st bite of the salmon crudo, I was mortified to find disintegrating salmon in my mouth. The stench was so bad, that I nearly gagged, so I gingerly deposited the bite into my linen napkin and asked that no one touch the dish. The waitress asked about the appetizers, and all I asked was for her to smell the dish. She said is it fishy, to which I replied "4 days ago" She took the crudo away, came back and said, the fish was "rotten". Then my Cesar salad and seared salmon arrived. The salmon on the salad was seared, but as I break it in the middle, I could smell ROTTING fish. The chef didn't even have the sense to season it to fool the palate! As an apology, the waitress who was very contrite, offered a free dessert. I don't care for desserts but I chose the chorros so the table can share them. The chorros were oddly thin and covered in caramel and that was only because the "apology dessert" was another piece of trash taken out of the garbage where they had kept the salmon. Even with minute traces of the fish, I was sick the next day. Had any of us ingested the crudo or seared salmon, we would have ended up in urgent care! $186 later, I left the restaurant hungry because I couldn't even fathom ordering anything with the rotting smell and taste of DECAYING fish! This isn't about the food not tasting good but department- of -health -level seriousness! Shame on the "chef" who deliberately puts DECAYING SEAFOOD IN FRONT OF PAYING CUSTOMERS! This place should be shut down due to this violation of basic food safety!

Yummy Mexican Inspired Seafood Eatery

By Jolynn G |

My boyfriend and I stopped by this fairly new spot in Pacific Beach for a quick lunch bite. We ordered both the lobster queso fundido and carne asada plate. I usually order queso fundido if a restaurant offers it and I've got to say the one here is fantastic! The carne asada was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The inside of the restaurant is bright and has a classic Mexican feel. The also have a fireplace ok their outside patio. It's all pretty cute inside and out. Great place to check out in Pacific Beach.

Good food, accommodating staff

By Rosetwig |

The hostess was very accommodating as we selected a table socially distanced in a full restaurant, our order was taken quickly snd efficiently, and everything was good! The house special nachos with barbacoa was a great starter and a we shared a dish with beef, shrimp and chorizo, served with corn tortillas and traditional fixings. The place was totally full on a weeknight, so if you’re looking for quiet this won’t work, but it was a pleasant lively atmosphere with good food, and all around good service.

Good food, fun atmosphere

By Payson A |

My wife was raving about the fun atmosphere all night. It’s a very fun place to be, with cacti lining the restaurant and “twinkle lights” everywhere at night. Ask for an outside seat if it’s good weather, and don’t worry if it’s cold, they have plenty of heaters to keep you comfortable. Service was quick and friendly. The food was good, nothing that blew me away but I would recommend the fried ice cream. It was a tasty dessert. I had the pallea, which was good, but a tad too salty for me, and was missing the characteristic browned and toasty bits of rice in a normal pallea, it was essentially just rice in a bowl with assorted seafood. My wife had carne asada, which she thoroughly enjoyed. It’s a fun place to be if you’re looking for Mexican at night. I would go again probably.

Much improved

When this place first open my wife & I were excited....but the food was....pretty uninspired. Seems like they got a new chef! We've been a few times lately and were pleasantly surprised to see some new items and a noticeable improvement. Good selection of craft beer from TJ & Ensenada as well.

Stunning Event at Pueblo

By Katelyn L |

Pueblo is PB's best! The restaurant is gorgeous, the staff is beyond accommodating and the food is delicious. I recently hosted our rehearsal dinner at Pueblo and Mark and his team were more helpful than I could have ever dreamed. They made our little dinner party an event. Every detail was perfect thanks to them. Highly recommend for a nice meal out or a full event!

Great Coastal Baja Mexican Cuisine

We have been eating at this restaurant since it first opened about three years ago after a former restaurant was rebuilt into a stunning new design addition for Pacific Beach. The quality of food and service has come into its own where today I rated both five stars. Last night Gus, a long time employee provided impeccable service anticipating our needs in advance of our asking. I had an delicious lamb shank in an incredible sauce where the meat feel off the bone. My wife likes to eat at Pueblo on Sundays when they roast a whole pig and sell all you can eat carnitas tacos with all the fixings. Marty the bartender/mixologist creates his own take on classic drinks that go well beyond margaritas.

This top notch establishment has tremendous seafood, wine and eats. Try the housemade margaritas if you want something delicious!

Modern restaurant & bar near the PB

By Kathy & Bill T |

Loved the modern decor & refreshing beverages & food? The happy hour food menu is extensive & the drinks were great. After a day at PB, this is a perfect, popular place. They have an outside seating area. The Sea Bass & Yellowtail Ceviche & pizza style flatbread were just the thing for us.

Eh - not worth the stop

Service was great! Food, not so much. Highly disappointing with the duck taco platter but the queso was good. My margarita was excellent. It's also very loud inside.

EXCELLENT CONTEMPORARY MEXICAN

By Cary L |

You must try this relatively new, slightly-upscale Mexican bar and restaurant in Pacific Beach. We had dinner there for the first time and were quite impressed. The classic margaritas were strong, with quality ingredients. Pozole was flavorful, with lots of meat and well-seasoned broth. Ceviche was marinated just right. The molcajete had a nice mix of ingredients, all cooked just right (which is hard to do when combining shrimp and meat in the same dish). Lobster enchiladas were meaty and flavorful. And our server Josselyn was friendly and attentive. They have their own parking lot, which helps in a beach area. My only criticism is the somewhat high noise level in the room.

Dinner with Family

We had a really good time at Pueblo Restaurant. their menu has changed and we love the new menu. I recommend the below dishes, and if you have a chance order a mango margarita it was very good. M

Love it!

You'll love everything about this place. The staff, the service, the food! We came with kids and had a blast. The freshly made blue corn tortilla tacos... any combination is well worth it.

Excellent meal and service.

We went for drinks and dinner. Sat inside and it was a great atmosphere. Good variety of drink selections. We had the guac and street corn ( they took it off the cob for us) and split tacos and burritos. Food was fresh and flavors were excellent. Prices were reasonable.

Overpriced With Less Than Mediocre Food

By Alexandra |

Have you ever gone somewhere and halfway through you thought to yourself “I really f’d up?” This place is extremely overrated and way overpriced and I’m still bitter we stayed. We got an appetizer that didn’t come until after we reminded our server we ordered after our main courses arrived, a main carne asada plate where the steak was completely flavorless, an octopus taco plate with literally the most disgusting tasting octopus I have ever had (it was extremely slimey and rubbery and tasted like I drank the dirty Pacific Ocean water mixed with garlic) and one margarita and it was $65 total (without tip). As mentioned above, our starter didn’t come out until we reminded our server we ordered it after our main courses arrived, my mom requested a straw (I know it’s bad for the environment but she’s older so I let it slide) and after 25 mins my mom reminder her she needed one and I asked for a to-go box and had to go up to the bar to have someone else bring it. I can’t remember the last time I had a worse experience eating out and I’m still really mad at myself for deciding to eat here. I know this review sounds harsh but it was literally the worst and I’ll have buyer’s remorse for probably the rest of my life. The only thing that could have made this experience better would be finding $65 on the ground to put back in my pocket. Trust me, there are way better places in PB to eat.

Delicious food in a beautiful new restaurant.

We are snowbirds who make Pacific Beach our home for the winter months. We always try out what's new around town and this time we hit on a gem. We were made to feel so welcome by the hostess and Angel, who waited on us, was the best. The food was served beautifully and timely and we loved every bite. Boar ribs as appetizers, then swordfish and beef filet as the main. We will be attending their beer pairing on January 26th next. A great addition to the area, upscale and worth every penny.

A nice suprise

By Greg D |

We went here just because it happened to be close to our hotel, and it ended up being one of the most pleasant dining experiences during our stay in San Diego. The food was tasty and served very promptly, our waiter was engaging without being bothersome, and the back patio was great.
