My husband and I went with two friends for dinner. We shared a bottle of Malbec. My husband had Morcilla (a blood sausage) and said it was good. All of our salads were fresh. Our entrees were good. My husband's Lomo was a bit over-cooked. I had the salmon special with a mango salsa. The salsa would have been better if they left the pinto beans out (gave it a starchy taste). The wait staff was attentive and non-intrusive. The meals were a bit pricey. All-in-all, a good restaurant.

Top of the Top Argentinian restaurant, better that eat in Argentina. Excellent service, excellent Food, Excellent Excellent Excellent........

This is a quaint Argentine Steak House. It's just a short walking distance North from the center of Little Italy. Nice inside and the service was very good. There's a nice outside dining area as well. We bought a Groupon deal for $20 of food for $10 Dinner & Lunch (deal expires Dept 12, 2013.) They have Argentine-style steaks, fresh seafood, traditional appetizers, homemade pastas and wines from Argentina. A pleasant and tasty adventure!

Everything Perfect! It was a busy Sunday and T was a treat in Little Italy. Figs and peeled fresh mandarin slices and the salad. Steak perfectly cooked. Perfect fries. Giant prawns. Easily 2 people can split one entree. Service perfect. Ambience perfect. Definitely worth a visit each trip to SD.

We were looking for a brunch before flying out - and came upon this Argentine place right in the midst of the Italian - turned out to be a real treat - well worth dropping in. Wonderfully done steak, great salads and appetizers, and, good value. A pleasant experience all around

Always great service and the steak is excellent as you'd expect from an Argentinian restaurant. The appetizers are also very good. All in all a great dining experience

Went on a Groupon (the power of ptomotion)... Enjoyed a VERY tasty sslad! Only small issue was the waiter asked if we wanted bread, I said yes... Was caught off guard (shame on me) when they charged $2.50 (All I wish is that the server would mention the charge and allow me to accept... Complementary bread is served at most restaurants)... 5 stars reduced to 4).... I would go back!.

I thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Puerto La Boca on a Saturday early afternoon. The restaurant felt authentic to me. I knew I was not at another boring chain. Even the lunch menu offered a lot of choices. I ordered the bread and chimichurri ($2.50) and the Lomo ($20), which was an incredibly tender filet drizzled with a reduction of Malbec wine sauce. Sides were noisette potatoes (very tasty) and broccoli, but I asked to substitute the seasonal vegetables for the broccoli, and the server quickly agreed. My vegetables, especially the zucchini, were fresh and cooked perfectly. The chocolate mousse dessert was absolutely heavenly. Others in our group had pasta and fish, and all were happy. I liked the ambience with the stained glass and small space. Service was excellent. On any return trip, I would want to eat here again.

Cute little Argentinian restaurant that has a fine dining area as well as bar area for more casual diners. There's also an outside area for when the weather is a little warmer. On Tuesdays they have $1 empanadas in the bar/casual dining area which are delicious! I haven't tried the full menu because it's always the empanadas that we go for - can highly recommend them!

Of all the meals we have had on this vacation, this one was hands down, the best! At first I was disappointed to learn that the beef did not come from Argentina, but their meat buyer must have found the best beef supplier around. I was sort of wishing that we were there for dinner, as the appetizers looked amazing, but I just can't justify eating that much at lunchtime! I ordered the Entraña (flank steak) and my husband got the Churrasco (sirloin). It is always risky ordering flank steak at a restaurant as it can be tough if not marinated and/or cooked properly. Not to worry, it was cooked perfectly rare as I had requested. My husband's sirloin was also cooked perfectly, but he also preferred my flank steak so it is the better choice. The flavor of the steaks by themselves was delicious, but adding the Chimichurri sauce knocked it out of the ballpark! Was also pleased that the mixed vegetables were seasonal fresh, not frozen, and the herb butter finished them off nicely. Highly recommend this place, bring your appetite!

Waited and waited to be seated in a half empty restaurant and snubbed by every waiter in the place. Not sure if this was because of their incompetence or that we are british (which we really hope it wasn't) but after 10 minutes of being ignored, we left.

Average taste, small portions and very expensive. Service was not too great either. For the price you can get much better experience in many of the India street restaurants.

My friend and I shared a starter, salad and entrée. They were so accommodating that they plated both the salad and entrée before serving. The Provoleta was sinfully yummy! The Ensalada La Boca was fresh and very citrusy. We finished up sharing the 8oz Lomo al Roquefort, they even served mine rare and my friends medium. Crazy accommodating. For wine we enjoyed the Norton “Privada” which was very enjoyable.

Had a great romantic dinner with my girlfriend on our trip in San Diego. We had the empanadas for a starter and they were to die for! I had the beef empanadas and spinach and cheese both delicious! We ordered the Parillada and it was superb since I'm Uruguayan I really like Argentinian Steak! Definitely a must in San Diego! Had a ballast point IPA as well on draft!

We had absolutely fantastic fillet steak washed down with a beautiful house Malbec wine. The waitress was very very friendly and helpful and, all in all, we world totally recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Wow, this was one of the best meals I've had anywhere! We ordered a meal for 2 and were extremely happy with everything that came out. Shared empanadas for an app as well as a bottle of wine. Good wine selection to compliment the menu

We ate dinner early yet as we were out and about we stumbled across this restaurant touting Argentine cuisine. Being from Argentina we had to try it. While i couldn't bring myself to try the meat at the exorbidant prices offered we did opt for a couple of empanadas and a pizza napolitana. What a treat!! the empanadas were second only to my wife's and the pizza was very good while lacking the green olives. The service was excellent and we felt non the less for ordering other than the main menu. (loved the way the waiters dressed in black watched the diners for the most minor twitch to head to the table to offer assistance.) yes I truly felt i was back in Argentina for a few minutes. there is no waiter in the world more attentive than the waiter from Argentina.

Found this quaint restaurant walking by. Authentic foods of Argentina. We enjoyed appetizers and salads. Loved the Morcilla! The food was fresh and delicious. The staff was amazing. Recommend to all.

But it's very good, a smallish place with excellent service. Plates are not too big so good for sharing with the table.

The food was really top notch....I had the Lomo Hongos Porcini (Filet Mignon w/ Porcini Mushrooms) ...it went great with a bottle of the house Malbec! The bread service with the chimichurri sauce was SO good. I could eat that sauce with a spoon...and it went well with some of the steak too. We also tried the Provoleta starter (grilled provolone cheese) ...it was really good, but too small to share for a party of more than two. Others in our party had the Entrana steak and the Milanese Napolitana (breaded chicken w/ tomoto, ham & mozzarella cheese). I went with my cousins who have been there a few times before, and the server even remembered what bottle of wine they wanted to order when he came to the table (we had the "Sweet Wine" which was a good starter wine but I prefered the Malbec to go with dinner). Service starting out was slow though...I think 10 minutes went by before anyone came to our table, so that would be my only complaint...but after that, it was pretty timely. I would definitely come here again!

We went all out - wine, appetizers, salads, main courses, and dessert and everything was delicious. The Milanesa Napolitana, the steak, and the panqueques (crepes) were standouts. Cosy, dimly lit atmosphere, not noisy, perfectly paced, friendly service. Can't wait to go back!

We had lunch at this beautiful small(ish) restaurant, and the food was excellent. Service too. I can only recommend, although the place is a little pricey

This wouldn't have been my first choice restaurant but my friend wanted to go there and I bought a Groupon for it. I usually don't eat red meat but after tasting my friend's steak, it was absolutely delicious, tasty and succulent, so I decided to make an exception to my normal eating habits and order meat myself. Plus that's what the Argentines are known for, of course. I decided to have the lomito (filet mignon) sandwich. It was also very good. I had a ham and cheese empanada as an appetizer which was very good. I've spent time in Argentina so am a big fan of empanadas with different stuffings. The restaurant has several choices of stuffings for the empanadas.

Great little (and I mean small) Argentina restaurant in LIttle Italy. Went with a large party (30+) and although the food was good, they weren't quite prepared to serve a group that large. Roberta and Pedro kept us in drinks and food. Great selection of appetizers brought out. Loved the tomato salad with Roquefort dressing highly recommend

I know chimichurri when I taste it. This place has the recipe. The steaks and the seasoning is Devine. It's close to downtown with a great view.

Enjoyed every morsel of the Beef Empanadas and my companion had Filet Mignon which she loved. The meat was scrumptious in both meals. Tip... Unless you are a Sports fan and enjoy watching the game on TV while you eat, don't sit in the bar area. Very noisy. There is another room which has candles and atmosphere more conducive to a quiet meal. I have given it 4 stars only because the meal itself was excellent but the service was zero. Never even got my water refilled. They were pleasant enough but focused more on the games than the customers. Thank goodness the chef was in the kitchen!

A colleague and I were in town for business. Found this restaurant by the water. While the menu (both food and drinks) were limited, the quality were quite acceptable. The view spectacular.

We are down in Little Italy area of San Diego on a regular basis. If you don't know there are a great deal of restaurants in the area most of them Italian. To find an Argentinian steak house was a pleasant surprise. We have been here for weekday lunch as well as on Sunday which is dinner menu all day. I have two items I order when I am here...Tenderloin steak sandwich for lunch which is mouthwatering and the Puerto La Boca pizza for dinner. I know pizza at an Argentine restaurant? I tried it once and became hooked on the flavor. The wife has her steak and we frequently order the empanadas. The food is solid and the place is comfortable. I hope you enjoy this as much as we have.

We were driving around the area when I saw this Argentian Steakhouse, quickly looked it up on tripadvisor to read some the reviews. Made reservations for 7:00 on a Thursday night, we probably could have gotten a table without the reservation. This place didn't disappoint, we had the parrillada coventillo for two but three people could probably share it. The meat was perfectly cooked, very tender and flavorful. There was a variety of meats to try and the price was good for the quantity and quality of the food. The server was nice and attentive, great atmosphere.

It was a few days before New Years, we were walking through Little Italy when the smells of the neighborhood made us hungry, so we decided to try a place for supper. It was around 6pm, which proved to be a mistake without reservations. We went into many places who all had a 45-60 min wait if you didn't have a reservation. Near the end of the Little Italy neighborhood, we stumbled onto this place, who was able to sneak us into a corner table. We ordered the Steak Frites for two and it did not disappoint. Steak was grilled perfectly and it took up over half of the large plate. The french fries filled in everywhere else. We couldn't finish it! We ordered a bottle of their house Malbec which was a good pairing with our order. While we waited for our order we received warm bread, olives, butter and chimichurri sauce. That was a highlight of our evening, as it reminded us of our trip to Europe. Yes, this place is expensive, but all of San Diego is expensive, we have found. This will be a restaurant we would return to, when visiting the area again.

We started out with the chimichurri appetizer great flavored . Then we shared the chuurrasco the sirloin was cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly . Our friends had the halibut which was so flavorful. We will go back with more friends. Our waiter Rudolpho really new the menu and ingredients well kudos to him and his team of servers for excellent service 😋

We went there on a recommendation and had a wonderful time! Small restaurant, but very clean, good vibes, immaculate bathrooms, excellent staff......just an all around wonderful neighborhood restaurant that I would frequent often if I lived in San Diego! Our initial meal (late 2:00 pm lunch) was eaten in the sidewalk patio area. They bring you the most amazing basket of bread, and sides of chimichurri sauce, herb butter with olives, and calamata olives. We ordered steaks that were tender and tasty! One with vegetables and one with fries. Everything was delicious! After we had lunch, we decided to have some happy hour drinks at the bar inside. We spent a couple hours at the bar watching sports on the TV's and talking to other patrons. We eventually ordered the fried calamari appetizer that came with fried shrimps and vegetables...that was delicious also! The pulpo (octopus) appetizer was also very good. We asked the bartender to bring us more bread with herb butter, chimichurri, and olives.... He happily obliged!

Good wine, great service, the streetside patio very inviting, the food is stellar (we had beef) and the price was right. Always a good choice

this place is wonderful. Service is great and the food compliment the experience they make us feel like family food was delicious we had the conventillo dinner enough for to people dinner lots is high quality meats as a chef in the industry was really great to enjoy this dinner. I will recommend this place to anyone to feel the south American food and the taste from Argentina

Visited with friends we knew when we lived in Buenos Aires many years back . Service barely made my review average . Waiter was friendly and actually a bit over attending , when you are busy talking . Serves all the Argentine favorites . Beef empanadas were my favorite . Bife de Loma asked for medium rare came out medium . Meat was tender but over cooked. Wine selection was good and I hope my meal wasn't there normal experience . Food is pricey and cooks should pay closer attention to their duties!

During a three week round trip definitely the best steak we had. Maybe you should expect this quality for the price we paid, but other restaurants took our Dollars definitely for less quality. The starters (bread with ...) were mentioned frequently and positive - we fully agree

Best entree: Entrana (skirt steak) Wine list: loaded with fun Argentine wine, especially Malbec Service: long standing staff, always helpful & warm Atmosphere: cozy, comfortable, great live guitar on weekends Location: great for Little Italy locals to walk; usually has parking closer to it than many other restaurants further down India St. Deals: Delicious Skirt Steak at $45 feeds 2-3 people vs. $90 to feed 2 people steak at major steak houses. Even better prices at lunch if the timing works for you!

Recommended by a Japanese businessman who spent time in Argentina. If you are a Food Network fan who loves eating recipes from a skilled chef then you should come here. My only complaint is that it is hard to find parking in Little Italy. Maybe you should take a cab.

The various beef choices are tender and flavorful. The chimichurri is yummy. Outdoor seating is a plus.

Great Argentinian cuisine! Not like Argentina's BUT pretty dang good! Ambiance: Welcoming, servers were super attentive & very accommodating. They catapulted our overall experience as they took great care of us. Their bread basket was not your typical pedestrian bread, it was quite SPECIAL as it had a great textured crust with a super moist center. Dip it in your chimichurri &!wha laaaa... Standouts: Beef empanadas Potato Salad (unique, the added peas & carrots enhanced the potato salad to the next level). American potato salad does not hold a chance. Sorry, but is true! Parillada "El Conventillo" (short ribs, flap meat steak, skirt steak, blood sausage, chorizo sausage & sweetbreads served on a sizzling platter. The green cooked onions gives the dish a lil pop & texture which I really enjoyed. The price tag was warranted as it was plentiful, flavorful, tender & delicious! We had plenty of beef leftover. Dessert: The "Milhojas de Dulce de Leche" (homemade milky caramel pastry) was a bit rich albeit still quite nice. Point of attention: They tend to overcook their meats be specific about your cooking times. Our first round was well done they handled themselves with true professionalism as they quickly brought out another grill of our requested med. rare PLUS they gave us another side of potato salad. Classy!

Puerto la Boca is located in the lively and fun Little Italy in San Diego. It is without a doubt one of my favorites restaurants in the city. I love the entraña signature steak of the house.

Our family has been patronizing Puerto La Boca since it opened 11 years ago. We have always enjoyed the outstanding food, great wine list and cocktails. The general manager Roberta, and all of the wait staff are outstandning. Great service. The menu is primarily grass fed beef (numerous cuts--all great), pollo, and some seafood. The appetizers are full on Argentine favorites as are the salads. We recently travelled to Buenos Aires--which is simply wonderful as a food destination--Puerto La Boca is very similar to the great steakhouses we went to in Buenos Aires. In addition to great entrees, and appetizers (empanadas, morcilla, sweet breads), they feature great desserts---crepes with dulce de leche, alfajores and coffee drinks. This is a great place to try out for locals and for tourists--It is a hit with many Latino customers as well.

I want to initially explain that I have downgraded my review because of the incredibly poor service we received. Granted, this was the opening night of SD Restaurant Week, but it was a Sunday, and we had reservations. When we arrived, we were told our table was not ready. The place was packed, but that just let us know the place was good. And it was! The food was exceptional, from the complementary freshly baked bread with butter studded with minced veggies and herbs, chimmichurri, and house made olives, to my delicious empanada and probably the best filet I've had in decades that was served with a perfect Malbec reduction and mushrooms. The glass of house reserve Malbec we chose was the perfect accompaniment. I wish I would have been offered more than one glass. Or more water. This is what put the damper on what would otherwise been a lovely evening. Our server never engaged with us the whole evening. He asked us two questions the whole evening. After a LONG time with the menu. He asked if we had any questions and seemed annoyed when we no. He took our order and as we waited and waited, he came by and all but tossed the glass of wine on the table about the time the first course appeared (which was brought by someone else). We sat with those dirty dishes in front of us for some time before someone came to remove them. Wine and water glass empty. The second course was served, immediately after, the server came by and asked if everything was OK, but he didn't wait for an answer. I really would have loved another glass of that Malbec to go with my steak. We enjoyed that course and waited with THOSE dirty dishes in front of us for quite awhile despite the restaurant being cleared out by about half by then. The server did return to take our dessert order, served that and then plopped down the check. The dessert was dissapointing. A house made crepe that was supposed to be served au flambé, but wasn't and a likely commercial chocolate mouse pie that was cloyingly sweet and quite gummy. It was not finished. I in no way blame the server for the pie. Bottom line, the food is wonderful and even special, dessert not withstanding. I realize this was a unique promotion, but that should not encourage poor service. Yes, they were busy, but an establishment should be prepared for that. This is the time service should really shine, because it's harder to do under busiest circumstances. My advice: Do go! But not during an event like restaurant week or on a Friday or Saturday night when they would tend to be busier. You will be rewarded!

A good solid four-star restaurant but I gave five stars because the service was exemplary and the food very good also and better than what I expected. A rather nice romantic little place near Little Italy.

Had a nice dinner here recently. Empanadas were delicious. I opted for the churrasco cut of steak, which was correctly cooked... and we had a nice Malbec. I would try this restaurant again.

We have come back to this restaurant often because the meals are always good and the staff is always friendly and helpful. We have visited other Argentinian restaurants in San Diego and other locations in the Southwest and find this one is about the best we have visited.

Went ot San Diego for girls weekend and we ate here our first night. It is small and cozy and not so loud you can't carry on a conversation. Limited but tasteful wine menu. We started with empenadas and the caprese with goat cheese salad they did not disappoint.Excellent food, my steak was cooked to perfection...the sides could have been better, I mean potato balls...who has ever heard of that? Great place and my bestie and I would definitely return.

Referred by a friend. Nice Little Italy location. Live entertainment, great Argentinian wines at reasonable prices. Lots of good dishes to try. Always ask the waiter for the special we were very pleased with the appetizers and steak. Good value and we'll be back.

The restaurant employs dishonest and discourteous servers. The server Rodolfo was so rude to our party. We were not offered drinks or checked on. Our chair was repeatedly hit by him while he was waiting on other tables, all while being overtly friendly with them, speaking in Portuguese and ensuring they were taken care of. I did not tip him on the receipt and left the restaurant very upset with the unacceptable service. Imagine my surprise when I see Rodolfo tipped himself $9.00. on my credit card. I have had to dispute this with my credit card company. I have requested a copy of the slip where I allegedly tipped him, but they do not have it and only offer a very suspect reprinted receipt. It is only $9.00 but it was stolen and certainly not earned. Watch your credit card receipts carefully after dining in this establishment. Needless to say, I will not go back. There are much better Argentine places to eat in San Diego. Try Rei do Gado. Amazing service. No trash.

I have been many times to Buenos Aires and always loved the true argentinian kitchen but it iis hard to find anywhere else. Puerta de La Boca is it! The appetizers (chorizo, empanadas and of course, provoletta) where delcious. The argentinian cut steaks were exactly like in the great restaurants of BA. We had the Lomo, bife de chorizo, picaña and a bife de ancho. Perfectly grilled and super delicious. Together with a good Malbec-you don't want to miss this restaurant.

We were so happy to be at a place like this. We felt transported to a foreign place. We heard different languages and accents. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The best was the food. The empanadas were excellent and the chimichurri is one of the best we have ever had. The steak was flavourful and tender. We recommend it to people of all ages. Loved it!

We had lunch in this restaurant... It is great from all aspects .. The good , location and the waiters are kind and helpful.. The steak is the main dish they have ... Ask for their traditional dish ... I recommend it if you want to eat beef ... I took pictures for the menus and the food to be sure when you wanna go There ...

This is an awful Argentinian restaurant. Greasy steak. They charged for bread, chiles, etc. Overpriced and bad service

When we saw the word "Argentinian" while exploring a neighborhood known as "Little Italy" on a Saturday afternoon we knew we had to check it out. Seating at that time was in the bar or sidewalk tables, so zero ambiance, but the dining room looked like it would be very nice at dinner time. Very large lunch menu. We shared the baked provolone app. and each had a hot sandwich, both very good. Had we been able, we would have returned for dinner.

We stopped in for drinks and had empanadas and the provoleta. They were both good and the best part was the chimichurri sauce, which was excellent. But, on the way to the bathroom, the dining room was full so you had to walk past where the kitchen puts out the plates for the wait staff and the food and the sauces were just lined up - my husband and I on separate visits thought a customer walks so close to that, they could sneeze or have hair fly out, etc, and it was kind of a turn off - they should see if they can move tables away from that area to give customers going to the bathroom a bigger walkway so they aren't that close to the food. There was live music which was nice. Overall it's good but not a place we'd rush back to.

This a magnificent place to have a great meal in a casual cozy atmosphere. There is live music on certain nights of the week. I highly recommend eating here and don't forget to make a reservation if you plan on eating here Friday or Saturday night. Lunch is very accessible to eat. This place will fill up quickly if there is a soccer game especially if Argentina is playing. Parking will be tough just be patient. Give it a try.

This restaurant not only has terrific food it also creates an environment that is warm and cozy! It would be great for a romantic dinner for two and well as a nice dinner for a family with older kids. We ordered the signature skirt steak for two and probably could've fed 4 people on it! The portion sizes are large. The staff is friendly and helpful. Loved this experience!

Ate here for lunch. Enjoyed the steak with veggies and the empanadas. Had a nice glass of the house Malbec. Friend had a very good salad with beets. And some fresh bread topped it off. All in all a nice lunch sitting outside on the patio.

Perfect dining experience. Wait staff is genuinely nice and clearly like their job. Dinner was perfectly cooked and Empenada appetizer was out of this world. I had the ultra tender skirt steak and it was spectacularly marinaded. Price for 3 people each having a cocktail, appetizer each and Entree was $110. I will definitely be back!

The food is amazing, the service is impeccable,a nice homey atmosphere and they make you feel like you're part of the family!

We shared a picanha plate with steamed vegetables. The steak was excellent and almost too much for the two of us. The service was outstanding!

service was good and friendly, but food not as it should be, the salmon was good, but the french fries came with parsley and the traditional argentinian ones are just plain and that iis in all restaruants from Costa Rica to New Jersey, did not like them, Second, the parrillada , had chicken, no no no and veggies no no no , Parrillada is other things and mostly meat and sausage, blood sausage , which it had, skirt which it did not have , in other words some of the good things were replaced by other cheaper things and it ruined the whole thing, I would try another Argentinien restaurant next time in san diego

Great Argentinian food and wine makes this small and intimate restaurant very different from all the Italian restaurants in the neighborhood. The way they serve, platters sitting over hot racks is something I have never seen before. It kept the food nice and hot while it was presented in family style. The amount of food is over the top when you order for two. The Argentinian wine selection is very good and the wait staff is very knowledgable. A great place to have dinner

But it's in Little italy! Get the sweetbread appetizer..a wonderful char on a huge portion of tender and tasty sweetbreads. The empenadas are also excellent. We finished off with a lomita - a filet of beef sandwich that was tender and better tasting than any American beef. Best food outside of Buenos Ares.

We stumbled across this restaurant in Little Italy 4 years ago on holiday. The steak was so good we have reminisced about it a great deal over the years. Tonight we returned with high expectations. It was just as good as we remembered if not better. It was part of the reason we factored San Diego into our holiday this time. It really is that good! The cocktails were also very good & our waiter Sebastian was lovely. Go there, just do!

My husband and I along with two other family members ate here on January 2nd. This is the second time we have been there and can't wait to go back. The service was excellent and the food was superb! We had calamari and fresh bread with sauces and olives then the most wonderful, melt in your mouth steaks! We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting downtown San Diego or near by area. We drove down from Carlsbad to enjoy this restaurant while on vacation for New Years!

I lived in Argentina for 8 years so I consider myself somewhat of an expert on beef. A friend suggested this place and said it's been around for a while. I typically go down to Buenos Aires several times a year for work and to visit family so I get my fill of steak when I go down. They definitely have an authentic experience here as several of the guys working there are Porteños and from Buenos Aires. I took my family here for lunch and we loaded up on some food. We started out with the Provoleta (fried cheese) which was really good. We also tried various Empanadas which were quite good. (These were a staple of everyday life in Argentina!). The cuts of beef however were varied. The asado de Tira was REALLY REALLY good. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. Tons of flavor and the french fries were also great. I could have sworn I was in Argentina. However, the Bife de Chorizo I got wasn't nearly as good as what you'd find in Argentina. In fact, it didn't taste anything special at all so just be aware that it really depends on which cut of beef you try. I'd highly recommend the Ribs (asado de tira) like I got. The service was really good and they were friendly. It has a simple decor like something you'd find in an older part of Buenos Aires like San Telmo. There were several tables inside and also a few tables outside if you wanted to eat outdoors. We went on the weekend and there was NO problem at all finding a parking spot about a block down. But I imagine during the week it might be tough. I'd definitely recommend this place if you need a beef fix and I'll definitely be back here. Good food and friendly service.

Went on Halloween. Everything was really good. From the bread with the dipping sauces to the olives. Selected the lomo for my entree. It was excellent! tender , juicy, great flavor. Had the Hongos Porchini sauce on it. Yummy. Highly recommend. Will be back.

Wonderful beef, if you love to eat beef this is the right place where to go! Beef from argentina is the best ever! Go and enjoy your meal!

First visit. Celebrated birthday. We had the house wine, salads that were special with figs, cheese and orange slices, nice skirt steak, paste and two fish orders. Nice pear dessert. We have plans to return. The hostess, waitress and staff were family. Free street parking after 6pm.

We had a very nice and authentic meal of picana we shared (w leftovers!) with a wonderful cheese and spinach empanada for an appetizer. Service was very attentive and helpful. The restaurant was very clean. There is outside seating availability

I was there with a friend a few weeks ago and was very excited because the reviews were positive, but I confess that I left a little disappointed. I'm from Brazil, so I have high expectations for my steak and this place just didn't met my expectations. They were having an event called "Restaurant week" or something alongs the lines and had a set menu deal. I chosen to get the empanadas for appetizer and I was not pleased with. It was stuffed with ham and didn't had much taste. For my entree, I ordered the churrasco plate and asked for medium, but my meat was overcooked and chewy. The portion was pretty good, though. The service was excellent. Serve was very attentive and friendly. They also includes 18% in the bill, which I can't stand.I don't think I will go back.

My husband & I enjoyed our steaks at this Argentina restaurant in Little Italy. I must say it had great ATMOSPHERE: quiet, soft lighting, wine racks , piano, & great original art for sale on the walls . The SERVICE was excellent from the hostess, the frequent water refills, the bus boy , & the waiter. The FOOD was delicious! My husband's T Bone steak was very tender & cooked perfectly medium. He liked his mashed potatoes accompanying his steak. I chose the 8 oz filet mignon with a spicy peppercorn + red wine sauce. This also came perfectly cooked medium rare . I asked for a side of veggies which on this day was broccoli, zucchini , baby carrots & asparagus. This will be our go-to place for steaks at a reasonable price!

My brother turned me on to this place for this year's super bowl as an alternative to crowded, beer-soaked sports bars. He craved their various types of "Empanadas" -- and was he ever right. It was really a great change, such that we'll make this the tradition now on for enjoying the super bowl from their cozy bar. For starters, they have their happy hour ALL day EVERY Sunday during the year; which offers real nice food discounts and on well drinks, wine & beer. The bar tender was super friendly and helpful on the South American food and drinks here. We tried these appetizers to combine into a filling meal between the two of us: Empanadas, fried Calamari, Morcillo(authentic grilled blood sausage just like I remember in Spain) and also chorizo sausage. I stuck with their Blue Moon wheat beer on tap; while my brother and he really enjoyed discovering their specialty "Pisco Sour" well drink with a special (Peruvian or Chilean??) liqueur. Some great happy hour wine selections are also present. Finally, they have a GREAT house bread you can ask basket after basket of too. Although I'm not a meat eater, this definitely the specialty of this Argentine restaurant....and the flame grill will provide succulent steak cuts I'm sure. I also really like the classical colonial South American feel (European) of the main dining room too. May well-dressed families began coming in for dinner about 4 PM, and kept the noise volume of children down to a reasonable level. Next time I hope to try their octopus over potatoes (i.e., en el estilo de "Pulpo Gallego" from Galicia in North West Spain). At the end of Little Italy's main drag but WORTH the extra 2-3 block walk, especially if you want a change from pasta & pizza.....

I expected Argentinian food, as advertised. So they had a couple steaks on the menu, an empanada and you got Chimichurri. The latter being the best thing I tried. The rest of the menu seems like someone's poor idea of what is expected in a neighborhood called 'Little Italy.' I had the Milanesa Napolitana. It was advertised as "Breaded thin cut of chicken breast or beef topped with fresh tomato sauce, ham and a melted mozzarella cheese." I opted for chicken. It lacked any real flavor. The ham was a slice of the boiled stuff you buy at a supermarket deli. The whole thing was luke warm. Ambience is nice. That's the best thing I can say.

Nice and authentic Argentinian restaurant, great customer service and good prices. If you know something about "asados" you cannot miss this place.

I have lost count on how many times I have visited this restaurant. Staff is friendly food is always good. My favorite plates are to share steak plate I forgo the name and the shrimp and salmon plate. The bread is really good served with chimichurri, capers and butter. This is good for couples, solo and family. I used to live across the street so the staff knew me. You can enjoy the happy hour good prices nice and relaxed atmosphere.

Their 4 cheese fettuccini is a must try! It is the most amazing pasta I've ever had. Everything else on the menu is good, but the pasta, in my opinion is exceptional.

If you like Argentinian food this will not disappoint. I had a great skirt steak with a bottle of their house Malbec. Most importantly the service I certainly was great.

This is our favorite Argentinian Steak House. It is located in Little Italy, parking is a challenge. Reservation is strongly recommended especially at dinner time on weekend. Everytime we dine it never disappoints us. Because they have wide selection of steaks, we always opt for

so we came for italian and couldn't find parking in little Italy proper around 3pm. Boom! parking opened up a block away from this joint which i had been to many years ago... my first thought was the malbec... next came the meats. I ordered a delicious house cabernet and oredered the entrana steak medium with fries and a side salad. We ordered some empanadas. The house cab was pretty good... but the second glass i ordered ... the Norton privada Malbec was even bettter. my entrana steak was perfectly cooked (medium as i like it) and tenderly devoured. I love and respect it....when they get the meat part right.... This place has excellent attentive and seasoned staff... great meats and parking is a helluva lot easier than a few blocks south in mid town lil Italy... don't get me wrong... the iltalian food is worth it... but if u r looking for an alternative on the fly.... or just want a decently priced meat meal with superb flavor as in Argentina..than this place still delivers. Right opposite Mona Lisa Italian and sits on the corner of India and Hawthorn.

Got full on bread and chimicurri. Steak was solid as was the entire meal. Good atmosphere and attentive service.

This restaurant is located in little Italy. We sat outside and enjoyed people watching. The service and food were excellent! I will be going back ASAP!

Great steakhouse in beautiful Little Italy. It serves Argentina steak. The Picana steak was the best cut of beef I have had. The waiter and the hostess are friendly helpful and prompt. The restaurant is a quaint place in a fun area of San Diego. I highly recommend this place for great steak at a reasonable price.

Stopped by to get some food and it really wasn't very good at all. I went for a prawn dish that was overly salty and overly creamy. Poor all round. Service was also very slow. Wouldn't recommend.

For a perfect meal, visit Puerto La Boca. The La Boca Salad is delicious, the Filet Malena is so tender that you can cut it with case knife and the wine sauce is very tasty. The attentive service is wonderful. You will enjoy your dinner and yes, you will return!

We found this restaurant online one day searching for South American cuisine in San Diego and coincidentally they had a Groupon deal at the same time so we went to have dinner there. It's a lovely, intimate little restaurant, and the food is authentic Argentinian from the bread basket to the marvelous steaks which I highly recommend to any meat lovers or anyone who's never experienced South American assados. Will definitely be going back for more!

We were referred to this restaurant as it was a very good steak place. I had the halibut and it was excellent. Everyone was very pleased with their meals.

This is our favorite steakhouse here in San Diego, we love the picana, the entrana and the empanadas are delicious, not to mention the chimichurri sauce that is so good. The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere very nice. This place is fantastic.

We love the food here. The service is great, the food amazing. We have been several times, taken friends and have never been let down. It's a good place for beef, but I don't eat beef but love the chicken dishes too. The chimichurri makes everything even better. The homemade pasta is great, but the best of this restaurant is how well nicely favored every dish we have tried is. Just past the main part of Little Italy on India street makes the location fun and enjoyable for day or night.

After a long tiring day visiting the USS Midway Museum we decided to try this restaurant which I had discovered earlier that morning via the internet. We had the calamari to start which was great and then we split a meat platter and fries between all of us as a main. The food was mouth-wateringly delicious!! Best of all was the morcilla (argentinian black pudding) and the beef ribs. This was definitely one of the best meals I have ever had out and hope to go again in the future.

Perfect cocked meat, great service, excellent steakhouse, go for the Entrañas, salad was awesome, quilmes beer ice cold!

Delightful afternoon so I ate outside. Being at the northern end of India street it is on the outskirts of Little Italy so people watching isn't as good as a few blocks in; a minus for me, but maybe a plus for you. Service was fast, but not rushed and pleasant. Water was replenished without need for asking. I had the signature skirt steak, medium rare. Very good. I had to ask for bread and the dipping sauce. Not sure if that was a slip up by the server or policy. The dipping sauce(olive oil, garlic, and parsley), by the way, is great for both the bread and the meat. I had mixed veggies instead of potatoes and they probably could have been steamed or sautéed just a tad more than they were, for my taste. I also had the octopus appetizer. Plenty of pulpo and very tasty. Nice compliment to the ensuing meal. For a little variety from all the nearby Italian restaurants, I would recommend it.

We got a great deal on Group On so went for dinner. The place is small and inviting with friendly service. The complementary bread with olives and spreads is a great starter. The steak was excellent but the pizza lacked flavor and wasn't quite the crust that we were expecting from a wood fired cook. We didn't order any drinks because they were super expensive (normally do but this was overly so)

This was my 2nd visit. The first time I went on a Saturday and was able to get a wonderful steak on the lunch menu for only $10.00 However, today I went on a Sunday and the lunch menu was not available. They had the steak but it was bigger and the cost was $28.00 I chose the Beef Empanadas (2) and some tiny roasted potatoes. All very delicious and totally satisfying. The bill came to $9.00 approx. so if you're looking to enjoy Argentinian food, on a budget, either order the lunch menu Mon-Sat or the appetizer menu. Many items $3.00 ea or $5.00 Large portions. Very pretty decor and the restroom was clean and attractive.

The food in this place is very very good. The portions are very generous even during their happy hour. It does not matter if you are a carnivore or an herbivore you will enjoy it the same. Try the house wines they have very interesting selections.

It was the little things that made it for me...Three things in fact: the house cabernet was a PLEASANT surprise (and I heard the Malbec was even better), I even had the Argentinian beer that casually went with everything I tried. Second the chimichurri...mmm...I should have taken some home! Third we had great service...the place is small and we went for lunch on a rainy day, so it was not busy, but we had smiles from everyone including the kitchen. Great birthday date for my mom.

As an argentinean, i have a fixation with steakhouses. Beef should be the national food of my country and since i live in Europe, i think a good argentinean steak is the thing i miss the most (besides the family, of course). The good thing for me is that there are many argentinean steakhouses out there, in many of the cities i visit often. This is the case of "Puerto La Boca", an argentinean steakhouse in San Diego, that's owned and managed by argentineans. They are located in the Little Italy area, in the corner of Hawthorn and India streets. The service is quite good so i recommend you to make a reservation if you are planning to go. My favorite dish there is the Entraña (a sort of skirt steak) but there are many other good examples of the typical argentinean Asado, from the starters like Chorizo and Morcilla (sausages) to other steaks like Asado de Tira (short ribs) or Churrasco (sirloin steak). They also have a very nice selection of wines. And not only steak is what you are going to find here because they also serve many argentinean specialties like Empanadas as well as a very good italian-argentinean selection of pasta and pizza. I don't need to say that this is definitely one of my favorite spots in San Diego and if you are a meat lover and you go there, you will definitely become a fan (as several of my friends already did).

Probably good back in time but not a hip spot. Food was good but nothing over the top. Seemed expensive for what we got.

A birthday dinner with the family -- all ages represented -- was the occasion for our visit. We selected empanadas, tomato salad and shared flat steaks, mashed potatoes, French fries and an array of desserts. The chimichurri sauce was a standout addition to the meat, and our pleasant, attentive Uruguayan waiter happily disclosed the ingredients so we could make it at home. Our visit was on a quiet Sunday night; the restaurant was a bit chilly, the chairs slightly lumpy but the food excellent and Malbec selection extensive. Our family was made welcome and paid attention to. A memorable meal for both the food and the setting in San Diego's Little Italy, as well as the dual language chatter around the table.

Husband and I went for dinner. Being a budget minded person most of the time, I had a minor heart attack when I saw that most entrees were $25+. However, there is a reason. The food is incredible! Husband and I shared one of the dinner for two options and still couldn't finish it all! The wine list is very nice as well. I was impressed when our server grabbed a bottle of wine, then put it back because it was "a little too warm" and grabbed another for us. I would love to come back for lunch sometime and try more things.

Great ambiance, delicious food, nice entertainment, great service and delicious Argentinian Wine, from Mendoza. My husband and I enjoyed a nice evening out. I am so glad we found this Argentinian Restaurant in San Diego. As an appetizer, you have to try the Argentinian empanadas, one of my favorite. The restaurant decor gives a nice atmosphere, the tables are very close to each other. We sat outside and it is also a small space, but it is a great place.

Wandering around Little Italy, we went inside on a whim with no reservations, but they easily accommodated the two of us. The menu has a varied selection of steak, salads, etc., all prepared in the Argentine style. We could have easily dined on appetizers only, because we love empanadas, but went for a traditional steak that the menu said served two. The portions were more than generous and would have easily fed three. The accompanying garlicky chimichurri sauce was divine, and we ate it on everything: steak, potatoes and bread. We had the pears poached in port and the pancakes with chocolate filling for dessert. The wine list is extensive and features good Argentine reds, with a house Malbec that was quite good. The service was excellent- at different times we had up to four people attending us. We will return often, for sure.

We were referred here by a friend who lives in SD and couldn't have been happier about our choice for dinner. The steaks were amazing, the staff were friendly, and the atmosphere is romantic. Definitely a place to eat at if you are in SD.
Great food great service.
Picaña was great. Provoleta needs work that's why 5 stars was not possible. Service was worth the tip and more. Most recommendable.
