I still cannot believe how horrible my experience at the Purity Diner was. I ordered buttermilk pancakes and two sunny-side up eggs, one of their "breakfast specials." The juice never came. The decaffeinated coffee was lukewarm. The pancakes arrived quickly and were thick and bone-dry, with absolutely no taste. You needed a knife to cut them, and you had to take a swig of the lukewarm coffee to get it down your throat. The eggs were barely cooked (still had the uncooked white oozing all over) I then came across a lump of flour in the pancake. The butter wouldn't melt on the pancake because they were not even warm. I almost vomited. The busboy asked if I was finished even though 2-1/2 pancakes were still on the plate. I said, "Yes, they're terrible." The waitress then reappeared and asked the same question. I said, "yes, they are awful, really bad." She answered, "really bad, huh?" No apologies, no offer of something to replace it. I paid, and though she gave me all of my change in single dollar bills, I did not leave a tip. Never ever again.

Locals love it -- especially on Sundays. Reasonably priced food, great Greek options and standard diner fare. Friendly service--great neighborhood feel! Centrally located in the heart of the Slope. Meet friends here, bring family -- menu has something for everyone. Not too fancy and not pretentious. Frequent specials change regularly.

This diner is conveniently located about a block from the Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. We both enjoyed freshly made lemonade. Both of us had hamburgers to order that were perfectly cooked, tasty, and quite sizeable. This came with a pickle and a little bit of coleslaw. Staff was friendly. Seemed that a lot of folks stopped by to pick up takeout meals on this cold winter night.

There was nothing special about this diner - "dime a dozen" in this area. Non-descript décor, average menu, they were out of items I really wanted to try, so I opted for corned beef and pastrami because NYC is the only place to get a good one, and this met my expectations.

Great food and good service. I had one of the breakfast specials, guacamole Benedict. The guacamole was fantastic and the farm fresh eggs were cooked perfectly. My only complaint was the coffee was not hot. Great little diner to grab breakfast.

The waiters and waitresses are very attentive. I love the food and service. I've been here two months working in NYC a because of work. This place is welcoming and relaxing. Some establishments have a poor wait staff on the same block. Not this place! Hadeh and his staff Melanie and Danny are great.

I had a doctors appointment at Methodist Hospital and arrived early. I walked a block away from the hospital and found this diner. The first thing that I noticed was that the floor and tables were very clean. 👍 I ordered the chicken kebob sandwich. It was sautéed with peppers and onions on a pita bread and came with a small Greek salad that had a delicious feta cheese. My coffee was hot and tasty. That waitress was attentive and friendly. I highly recommend this diner.

Your basic family diner with good food, friendly service and decent atmosphere. Family friendly and service is quick but not rushed. Low noise level. Room between tables.

Very nice friendly local diner. Staff is nice and very accommodating with excellent service. The food is well prepared and very tasty. I will come back again when in the area

This is our favorite diner. The children love the silver dollar pancakes. I like the Greek salad and my husband enjoys the cheeseburger. We always look forward to a big plate of their Brooklyn Fries-yum! Everyone here is friendly.

Real diner food, not a culinary experience but just right for a quick breakfast. For me the service is very important, our waitress was professional, helpful and attentive. We did not have to ask for menus or water. Our coffee was hot and although not a gourmet brand we were asked if we would like refills repeatedly. My omelet was standard nothing special but it did arrive hot with french fries and toast in a short time. Remember folks this is just a diner not trying to be anything else.

Met with some friend who live by Prospect Park and went to this diner which they recommended. It was a great choice and the food was very good and service friendly and efficient. I had a really nice omelette and everyone else enjoyed what they had too. Very reasonable prices.

I live in Manhattan and my cousins from California we’re coming to NYC and were staying in Brooklyn. We only had a few hours to see each other. I found Purity Diner on Trip Advisor. They don’t have diners in California. They loved it. Couldn’t believe the amount of choices on the menu. I ordered a spinach and feta omelette with home fries and they all ordered wraps with fries. Everything was perfect. We devoured everything!! Great service too!

The food was great, service fast and friendly, a great place to stop into for a meal! They will see me there again next time I am in the area.

Seated quickly and took our orders promptly. Clean, comfortable place. I had Chicken Fingers and they were delicious. Good sized menu, excellent service, not rushed at all.

Purity Diner has been in existence for a very long time. It used to be much larger when it was located further down 7th Avenue. It's a fairly small Diner located across from Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, from where they get a large percentage of their business. Their food and service is excellent. They have all the basics you would expect from a Diner. Their breakfast is particularly good. The egg dishes are served with very tasty hash browns, toast of your choice, and a small juice is included in the price. I have been going to this Diner for many years and I highly recommend it if you are in the Park Slope neighborhood.

We were staying in Brooklyn for a couple of days and were on the hunt for a good place to eat breakfast and to actually sit down in a relaxed atmosphere. Then we found this place and we really enjoyed it, ate breakfast and dinner here twice and it was all very tasty and the waiters were very friendly. Keep up the good work guys!

Very charming and cozy, homemade cooking kind of diner. Reasonable prices and large portions. Mediterranean omelette was fantastic as well as their hash browns. I'll go again next time I'm in Park Slope!

I love this place, we've been a few times and it's really hearty, no-frills goodness. Would definitely recommend for good coffee and a good meal at any time of day. The staff are always friendly.

The food is home cooked and copious. Servers are always friendly. Very fair prices for all menu items. Varied menu available.

It's okay. Was disappointed by the fruit but my wrap was good. It's pretty standard dining food. I heard other people say the soup was really good.

Having zero knowledge or Park Slope area in Brooklyn I was pleasantly surprised to find such a wonderful family atmosphere in NYC. This is not Manhattan of course which became obvious with the numerous baby strollers we were dodging besides crowds of tourists. This review is about Purity Diner but I had to mention the experience was enhanced because good long walk in of the neighborhood. On to the review. We stopped after our walk to have a quick lunch. I sampled chicken fingers (I know no delicacy) but that's the point - its all I wanted. The menu is large from simple breakfast items to an ample lunch selection. Our food was fresh, hot and delicious.

I had "greek" fries, a plate of generic french fries sprinkled with crumbled feta cheese and oregano. I was not majorly hungry and it hit the spot. Courteous service, quiet enough for a conversation at 4-5 and then more diners started coming soon after 5 as the dinner hour approached. Did not notice a lot of uniformed healthcare workers (it is right across the street from the Methodist ER, but I guess they are probably ordering in!). Nice flat screen which was tuned to Chopped. No complaints, I would definitely return for nothing other than the predictability of solid Diner fare and relative low noise level.

The best thing about Purity is the service and the atmosphere. The food is just so-so. I had the huevos rancheros and there were bland and slightly cold. I've had huevos rancheros leagues better than this. I ordered a belgian waffle on the side and it definitely tasted like they pulled it out of the freezer and warmed it up.

All aspects of this restaurant are exceptional. Great food, interesting atmosphere and good service. Recommended by locals for locals and visitors. Wide variety menu, good coffee and friendly staff.

Stick with the breakfast fare. Prices are reasonable, it is close to the hospital. There are better places along the Avenue.

Every time I have to go to the ER at NYC Methodist Hospital on 7th Avenue in Brooklyn I go there after being discharged together a good meal. My entire family does the same thing I do. Also, if one of us is hospitalized we go there and bring food for everyone in the room visiting. The food is Great and the service is exceptional. They are so courteous and caring. They go the extra mile.

I live in a nearby neighborhood and visited this diner twice. First time was earlier this year and I had a grilled cheese sandwich, nothing to rave about. This time, the service was ok. The waitress was a nice lady who we took a liking to... eventually told us in general terms that the FOOD SERVED HERE WAS CRAP. Wow. Against our better judgment, we visited the place as a default for the second and final time yesterday for a late brunch. The waitress who serviced the table was totally incompetent - a young girl who had no idea what the specials of the day were or whether they were still being served, was not versed at all with the menu, and could not tell us the difference between a western or a Spanish omelet, only to tell us that "cheese was $1 extra". I actually had to get up from my table and ask the manager at the counter while she stood dumbfounded nearby. The pancakes I ordered were microwaved and rubbery. The western omelet my boyfriend ate was sub par. Not to mention that the waitress only came back to our table once to see how we were doing and hovered around our table like a fly to see about her tip when we were standing up to leave... There are better restaurants/diners/coffee shops on 7th Ave. The atmosphere is ok, but the food and service was lackluster. I’d recommend to dine elsewhere.

The Purity Diner in Brooklyn is nearby the Metro Station 7th Ave. It is an nice location offering good food at valueable prices. The staff is friendly and helpful.

We like in Park Slope and stopped shopping diners when we discovered Purity. We have eaten a breakfast, lunch, and dinner here and they have all been excellent. Friendly servers are very professional. We were a little surprised when the owner scolded my wife for taking pictures to post to friends. We were told quite curtly “Photos not allowed”. What??? Her approach could have been a bit more friendly.

Great Diner.

The special "huevos rancheros" were awful...No idea why there was state-tasting rice in there. The one good point was that the eggs on top were perfect, otherwise the dish would have been inedible for me. The other order was an onion omelette with a bagel; even the bagel was bad. No espresso drinks, by the way.

Went there with my cousin in a cold Saturday morning, we had pancakes and omelette and they were delicious, coffee was awesome believe it or not. They serve you assorted muffins while they bring your order. The dinner specials sounded yummy but could not go this time but it is definitely on my list.

I had a terrific gyro sandwich here. I didn't think a sandwich would be enough food to satisfy me, so I also ordered some fries. They said it came with salad, but i figured it would be a small cup, like cole slaw. Nope. A full dinner salad is what I got! I was stuffed by the time I left.

This is a great place to hang out after a movie, or concert or even after church. My gal pals and I usually enjoy a Sat. night of breakfast food, desserts or family favorites here. The service and food are great, the prices are reasonable, the place is clean, cool atmosphere and the owner is friendly. Great place to get a quick bite by yourself and people watch as well. It is across the street from Methodist, and near enough to visit after the Barnes and Nobles /Brooklyn Museum /Prospect Park or a library visit. They are open pretty late too. Its a no -brainer!

We were highly recommended to this restaurant by a Park Slope resident .We were welcomed warmly and had a excellent waitress.I ordered an American Cheese Omelet with a baked potato. Normally when dining at 12 noon I am told that baked potatoes are not available at that hour . The food was enjoyed by us.

Stylish and simple at the same time, plenty of space and light. The food is good and the service friendly.

Standard Greek diner. Somewhat substandard food. But at least its cheap.

This diner has comfortable seating (booths and tables) and a relaxing atmosphere. You never feel pushed to leave, so read the newspaper and finish your coffee. Breakfasts are a bargain (two eggs any style, potatoes, bacon (or ham or sausage), & toast for $3.95! if you are hungrier, pick from their great selection of 3-egg omelettes, pancakes, waffles, and more. For lunch, the open-faced Reuben is perfection. Waitstaff are friendly and always check back to get your refills. I love this place!

This diner is family friendly and the food is what you want in a diner. Their waffles are thick and my cheese omelet was great. And my toast was hot. I know that may sound weird, but I’m so many restaurants your toast comes out flimsy and lukewarm or cold! I added a bowl of fruit and it was strawberries, blueberries and bananas—nice and fresh!
Excellent
We were visiting New York for 5 nights in September and took an apartment in Brooklyn. On the first morning we took a walk to find somewhere for breakfast an came across the Purity Diner. Great service, the team were great, great breakfast. What can I say, we went back every morning we were there. Thank you so much for giving us a great start to our day, every day.
