3 of 58 Bars & Pubs in Brooklyn

This spot is cozy, homey and welcoming. The dining area was actually smaller than it looked from the outside, but it still had a good amount of seating. They had a nice wooded bar to the right of the entrance, fully stacked and ready to serve the brunch crowds! They offer bottomless brunch every weekend, or you can just get whatever that makes you (and your tummy) happy! We ordered Scarlet Flip and The Halpenny. The Scarlet Flip was very refreshin, bubbly and elegant, I really liked it! The Halpenny had very strong espresso flavor. Wake you up with an aromatic punch! To start off, we ordered their Buttermilk Biscuit and Mac & Cheese. Bisctuit was super moist and soft, warm and fluffy like a cloud that is ready to rain down some rainbow drops! Mac & Cheese was so much smaller than we expected, but packed with great flavor! This little pot of gold was creamy, filling, and satisfying. Once we saw the size of the Mac & Cheese, we felt ok about adding a second appetizer that we really wanted to try. We ordered Scotch Egg. The egg was perfectly cooked, meaty, satisfying bite. For main, we ordered Impossible Burger and Putnam's Burger. Impossible Burger patty was more thin and flat than the ones I’ve had elsewhere. Regardless, it was still very tasty, packed with flavor. For Putnam’s Burger, we added cheddar cheese, bacon, and egg. It looked like the Leaning Tower of Pisa!!! And it was quite tasty! High ingredients, prepared with care and love. Needless to say, it was super filling and satisfying. As you can imagine, we were stuffed. But, we somehow managed to order their signature Irish Coffee as our "dessert." It was much bigger than we expected, but it was not concentrated, so that made sense. Still, it was nice and strong, warm and went down smooth. Our server. McKenna was super nice and friendly, polite and welcoming. She took a good care of us. It was a satisfying and fun brunch. We don’t usually go to Brooklyn for brunch, but definitely worth the trip! This place had such warm, relaxing atmosphere, we had a really good time. We would love to go back for more of their upscale cocktails and tasty food!

Four of us stopped in for drinks and appetizers. It was after 4 pm, so the kitchen was closed and we had to wait until 5 pm to place our order. We called the waitress over at 5 and she took our order, saying that she would put it in right away. 40 minutes later, we asked if our appetizers would be coming soon. She went to check and a server brought out part of the order. My wife had ordered fish tacos, but did not receive them. We called the waitress over and she said that they would be out in 2 or 3 minutes. 7 minutes later a server delivered the two small tacos. The waitress never came over to check on us after taking the order - we always had to flag her down to find anything out. Very, very poor customer service. After complaining to the manager that one of the appetizers was cold when delivered, he said he would remove it from the bill. Then, when we received our bill, we had been charged full price for the appetizers which were ordered during "happy hour" when they were listed at reduced prices. Again we had to track down the waitress to get the bill corrected. Although we left a tip, I sometimes wonder if waiters and waitresses think tips are automatic, regardless of how well they treat the customer. I think I am going to start going back to the practice of tipping according to the service received. Today it would have been a big fat zero !!

Friendly service, yummy brunch, easy to have the kids with us. Great selection of beers on tap. Delicious biscuits. I split the Country Breakfast with my daughter and it ended up being the perfect amount of food. Still, I would have eaten the whole thing if I could have. I want it again. Next time I won't share!

A real treat with small venue setting, friendly staff and food as good as the London Pub we enjoyed first hand!

A few members of my family got together here for a drink and meal. It has the ambiance of a traditional pub. The attention from the service staff was just right. I ordered Shepherd Pie which is one of my favorite pub foods. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal.

Stayed in Brooklyn a couple of days and ended up eating here three times. The menu was diverse and never disappointing. Quick and professional staff. Somewhat pricy. Loved the interior design and atmosphere. Both your local restaurant and for us tourists.

Great mix of eclectic and comfort food in a comfortably inviting environment. Fried chicken was scrumptious and the veg penne perfect. We went for a large birthday celebration and we felt like our favorite friends hosting us at our own home! Putnam wants your business and they make sure you'll return!

My friend use this place propose to his now fiancee. its definitely a nice spot with great appetizers and drinks. the vaults in the basement are simply beautiful and romantic. it just gets hot down there. The service was great..the manager was friendly n social. Its a little pricey but overall was worth it.

The place is great! The waitresses were amazing, food was really good, good price too. We went there to have brunch and it was a perfect!

Love this place - I visit at least once a week for either brunch, dinner or lunch! Service is always very quick, staff are very friendly and the food is always consistent and delicious. Try the goats cheese salad for lunch or the Eggs Benedict for brunch - two of my favourites! I have heard that the burgers and salmon are pretty good too. In the summer it's a perfect spot to sit outside and enjoy their happy hour menu! We rented the downstairs event space recently for a birthday party and it was perfect for what we needed and reasonably priced to hire. Staff were very attentive and made sure everything was to our liking! Definitely one of the better restaurants in Clinton Hill.

Gorgeous looking place but not great service or food sadly. We were served warm wine told to wait whilst it cooled down...which we did. Then the food was not great had chicken pot pie it was really hot but frozen at the bottom. Feel bad as didn’t point out but didn’t feel that welcome. On the upside we had a lovely booth.

We stumbled upon this magnificent place by accident. We were drawn in because they offered brunch. The whole atmosphere was relaxed and felt like a part of Europe was carved out and dropped in Brooklyn. The meal was exceptional and the staff very knowledgable and pleasant. Will note to return to try other delicious items that we witness floating by after we made our selections. Highly recommend before it becomes a trend! ;)

I must have passed by Putnam's a hundred times and just this Sunday after I finished the Five Boros Bike Ride my wife, daughter-in-law and grand daughter met me at Putnam's for brunch. We sat outside and everything we tried was delicious: fresh orange juice, biscuits, faro salad, chicken and biscuits with white sausage gravy and salt cod with eggs. No reason to fight the traffic and lines in Manhattan for brunch. This place is as good as it gets and it's within walking distance of the apartment.

Went this eatery on whim with friends on one of the most beautiful days of the year. Brunched at a sidewalk table. Arrived an hour after a few of our friends arrived but they quickly accommodated us. A little while before our waitress came over but all forgiven when the hostess took our order and it arrived expeditiously. Had the Country Breakfast with the most fabulous grits ever! My daughter had the BLT which she devoured half and a great tasting fruit punch. We also had a bottle of Processco (sp?) and that topped off the meal. Our actual waitress was very nice and the dear even took a couple of group photos for us! After brunch dispersed we went for a bio break and ended up meeting the chef when I asked about the grits and how they were made. He actually told me the recipe...special cheese but I am not telling :0)...you have to try it! Very flavorful! Would definitely be back.

We had a most pleasant hour when we visited this restaurant for a short dinner. Staff was very professional, efficient and friendly, food was very delicious and the atmosphere was very vibrant and pleasing. I would especially recommend the burgers which are one of the best I had in New York City. Prices which are very reasonable makes this place an ideal restaurant in Brooklyn.

After a short wait, we have a great table by the window for the four of us. The food was delicious (tea was just okay). We had a variety of entrees along with some breads and drinks. Good service though the space is a little tight.

Sunday brunch with family is special. And so was the Putnam’s. Came with a grandchild and the server made sure her food can very quickly. Shrimp and grits and fried chicken with an egg were yummy Look forward to next time we are in the area!

My daughter and I went to Putnam's for a late dinner. They had a chilled corn soup for one of their specials that night. I don't care too much for corn, but it sounded different and wanted to give it a try. It was one of the best soups I had. I couldn't stop eating it. We had sandwiches which were really good too. My drinks were made perfectly and our server was really pleasant. I would go here again when I visit Brooklyn. Very nice place!!!

Should have realized by the name it's a bar !! Very small menu..food was just ok..would never go back...took forever to get a waitress to acknowledge us after they seated us.

Great lunch specials great local beers on tap. Great service very clean and a great bar atmosphere. Lots of local artists hang here. The soups sandwiches and salads are delicious and very creative. One of my Brooklyn favorite

We met family here for lunch on 3rd July and had a great lunch. I was very impressed with the beers ( a porter and an IPA) and my wife had her first decent glass of wine. The food (usual fare brunch hamburger egss benedict) was good and I really enjoyed the atmosphere.

Was there for happy hour on a Friday - Staff was great - beer selection awesome and food was great! If I lived in the area I would be a regular!

Came for lunch on a rainy St Pattys Day. Sat a nice table by the window under relic pictures. I had 6 oysters, grilled chicken sandwich and ☘️Guinness of course. My wife had the cod sandwich and a ☘️to. Our water glasses were old preserve jars which didn’t seem to be washed that well. But hey no worries. When the server came to remove the oysters, he asked “how were your mussels?” Hmmmm! We’ll be back for brunch hopefully soon.

Hi Putnam's Management, we hope you read this! My husband and I are locals in Fr. Greene and have been your patrons since you opened. We live down the street from you. Over the years, we've always enjoyed your large selection of beers and your food is wonderful too. This year since June-August, we've been experiencing very poor customer service. It's been so bad it has us second guessing ourselves if we should return to your establishment. In June we came in to get your incredible burgers, very delicious by the way. However we waited over 45-50mins to be served. We were told that the kitchen forgot to make the order. However, we actually think our waiter just forgot to place the order. Not once did he ever come to check on us for 45 mins. Then the hostess, she works every Friday night, finally served us as she knew we had been waiting. She decided to say, wasn't it worth the wait. Hum, I'm not sure that's what you say to someone who's been hungry and waiting for their food. We've been watching all the other patrons who came after us finish their drinks, appetizers, and main course and leave! Then 2 weeks ago, on Sunday Aug 5th we had brunch with a friend. We were seated outside on far right hand side of the restaurant behind the door. I was served my order of an omelet with a side of blacken burnt toast. The waitress put it down on the table without noticing that it was not eatable. I believe the house manager was there that day and did help to replace my toast. But why was that even plaited. Our waitress did not come check on us once. We had to flagged her down for water, had to do it repeatedly. When we finally did get the water, all of our glasses were completely empty for about 15mins. Check out time - wow, that took forever too. Another 15-20mins to just to get the my husbands card back. Just no sense of service to us at all. I’ve never experienced such bad service at a restaurant before. I can’t say I’d like to come back. I want to support you but with two encounters in a very short period of time it would be foolish for us to return.

Had the Shepard pie was very good had a Putnam s spring ale paired with it slow service to start think they forgot about us my wife hated chicken sandwich daughter loved it. My wife got a large piece of fat on first bite probably led to her experience. I'd say sit outside if possible.

If you find yourself in downtown Brooklyn and looking for a nice lunch spot I can definitely recommend Putnam's. The food was excellent. Some people had turkey burgers (served on a wooden cutting board) some had salads. All of the food was very, very good. Nice airy atmosphere and looks like a fun bar scene.

Stopped into this neighborhood joint after seeing a few positive reviews and can say the reviews are generally correct. The food was was fresh and tasty and the ambiance was quaint. Would love to stop by the place at night as they have some really cozy booths that would be great for the Mrs. and me.

My daughter goes to the Pratt Institute, right up the street from this restaurant, and she picked Putnam's for brunch for her and her friends when we came into Brooklyn to visit her. What a great choice. The place a great atmosphere and a nice selection of brunch foods. The servings were plentiful and everyone left full and happy. The price was reasonable too which made my husband and I happy too.

We stopped in for a late Sunday brunch while visiting our daughter. We opted for the $30 bottomless brunch (1.5 hours). Started with bloody mary's, which were excellent, nice an spicy and pretty potent. I ordered the eggs florentine which had plenty of fresh spinach and a nice Hollandaise. The home fries were excellent as well. Other's in our group had the burger, french toast and pancakes. The seasonal cocktail was quite good as well. The decor and ambiance is very nice, reminded me of Scottish pubs that I visited. If I lived in the neighborhood, I would be there quite frequently.

if the Monday Happy Hour vibe is typical this is one of the best bars in Brooklyn. We enjoyed good beer at an average price of $4 a pint and great bar snacks. There are plenty of sidewalk tables and the bar is equally welcoming to single women (our neighbor was happily reading Proust as she sipped her merlot) as it is to groups of sports fans.

Nice ambiance. The staff is attentive. I have been here twice and the first time I really liked it. Downstairs it looks like caves set up for a vip type of setting and they have a bar downstairs. The place is fairly clean and I'm a tuff critic. The drinks were good. The other time I went was in the day time for lunch and they have a different menu than dinner and I didn't like that. Also the kitchen closes down for an hour to prepare for dinner and I didn't like that either. But overall the food was good

Weather permitting, Putnam's as a lot of good outside seating for people watching. The service is always good, and friendly. They feature good live entertainment many evenings and a happening bar scene. I especially like the Shepard's Pie but everything I have had has been good. It is also a good place for brunch.

We had a wonderful dinner at Putnam's - a wide variety of menu items, great service, and excellent food! This place has nice outdoor seating on the sidewalk, or cozy seating inside - whichever you desire. Enjoy!

Putnam's is located not far from my sister's home in Clinton Hill, and has always been a meeting point for us on the weekends. This time round, we enjoyed a long, lazy Tuesday afternoon lunch. The staff were very helpful and welcoming, and it made for a fun afternoon. It's important to mention that the place is very baby-friendly, with a changing room and very baby-friendly staff,

Food;great. Service; great. Atmosphere; quiet and perfect for a working lunch. Decor; lovely, spacious and airy. On weekends they have a dj, an active dance floor, and a bar downstairs.

Awesome little restaurant & pub on Myrtle street in Brooklyn. The food was delishous! I had swordfish that melted in my mouth..their beer menu was a full page..very extensive selection..I rather enjoyed my cappuccino too! We sat at a table outdoors..the atmosphere was very nice. I do recommend.

Great place to eat, lovely atmosphere, very good food, friendly staff, interesting menu. Well worth a visit

Stopped in for a beer and a quick bite. Good vibe and aesthetic, And the music was on point at least the night we were there – not just the selection but also the sound and volume which most places have a hard time getting right. Had the catfish sandwich which was huge, not the tastiest thing I’ve ever had but solid and definitely a few steps up from normal pub food. Beer selection was very well curated. If you’re looking for a neighborhood pub that’s nice but not pretentious, with a good drink selection and solid food this is a great choice. Definitely would return.

We went here after touring the Brooklyn Navy Yard on the advice of our tour guide. It was an excellent choice. There was a variety of sandwiches and salads and soup and omelets of the day. I had a wonderful beet and greens salad with blue cheese and pistachios which I topped with grilled chicken for under 20$ Others had the soup which they said was delicious and it looked wonderful. Those who had sandwiches and omelets were impressed and nothing was left.. would definitely recommend it and would go back if in that area..

This is definitely a great neighborhood spot with a good bar, above average food, friendly staff, and a relaxed atmosphere. It's a great place to grab a drink or grab dinner. Large beer selection, they have outdoor seating, the specials are always changing, and they always have a game on the TV's. If you're in the area, stop in, you won't be let down!

Oh my!! The Warm Winter Salad with the chicken added - Love it!!!! Our service was excellent and I could not believe how fast the order came to our table, even with burgers ordered by others at the table. The ambience was awesome!!! The basement had some really cool vaults. I cannot remember the name of the beer that I ordered. It was really good too. Also, tried my daughter's Caesar Salad with chicken added, loved it too.

If you want a little oyster snack and order them by the single each time you can. Had 6 then another 3 for a little mid afternoon snack. Top it off with a cold draft on a warm day... oh perfection. I like this little place right around the corner from our Air bnb. They have other sandwiches and salads plus a Mac n cheese for the kids. Great spot!!

Went with friends, had a table outside. We had a selection of small dishes between us. All ok, general pub style food. Good service.

Great service and a small but wonderful and creative menu! In Brooklyn for a weekend and ate here for lunch two times. If we lived nearby, this would be a regular spot for us to dine. Clean, fresh food, nice presentation, and GREAT Bloody Mary's!

A good place to have Guiness, or other local beer, and eat a burger ! I stood in Brooklyn for week, went there 4 times.

My wife and I have been here a few times already, and I would recommend this for a family lunch or dinner. My in laws came in from California, and they can be picky with their dining experience likes/dislikes (especially my father in law). Having TVs available, cold beer, and a good selection American style dishes are musts — which Putnam’s has readily available. According to my father in law, who got the Putnam burger, he claimed it was one of the better ones he has ever had. Plus, they are one of the few Resturant’s in the area that carries the impossible burger brand, so given that my wife and her mom are vegetarians, this made them as equally happy as my father in law. We did a reservation, which you have to call in for, but for a Friday night it was not that busy. They have seating outside as well so if you want to people watch or bring your dog for a sit down meal you can do so from that seating area.

It's hard to discount a restaurant when the food is tasty but the service sucks. If you're looking to have a chill environment and good food, this is the place for you. They even have outdoor seatings. If you're HANGRY, I wouldn't suggest it.

Beyond the very attentive service they have an eclectic brunch menu. Not being a big brunch drinker I did not choose the $30 inclusive special and opted for just one pickle topped Bloody Mary. I recommend the chicken BLT

While visiting my daughter who goes to Pratt Institute, we returned to Putnam's for breakfast. We had enjoyed it very much last fall and we were hoping that our return visit would live up to our memories. It did. My husband and daughter don't do wheat and they had lots of choices for breakfast - our waitress went out of her way to make sure they got what they needed. The servings are good sized and the buttermilk biscuits are out of this world. We will be going here again the next time we are in Brooklyn.

The drink selection and specialty cocktails are through the roof. The interior of the place is rad and has a cozy feel in the winter. Their menu is top notch. They play great music and usually put sports on one of the TV's (if that's your thing.) The downstairs has a really cool, carriage house type of vibe. This is really a gem. Probably my fav bar/restaurant in the city. I could hang out here all day.

Great burgers and fries. Nice beer selection. Good chili. 2 adults 1 teen. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Friendly staff

Went for brunch with a big group. Staff kept an eye on our pitchers and made sure to bring more out, took orders efficiently, food did not take too long and was delicious. Everyone cleaned their plates and was very happy with the experience. Would come back!
Great place!
Got taken here by some friends and loved it! Really lovely bar, great staff! I enjoyed the cocktails and the steak! Both amazing! Great place to eat!!!
