We stopped in for lunch at the recommendation of the hotel concierge.. and loved it! Delicious chicken salad, and a wonderful club sandwich.. a full bar and great service...next time we plan to stop by for dinner!

The skirt steak is to die for. Even cooked medium, it melted in my mouth and tore apart as I cut into it. Meanwhile the chili relleno accompanied by the cilantro and chipotle base salsa baste on the side was amazing. It was a travesty that the I ate it so quickly. The portions are more than enough to just feed on an entree alone.

We ordered four small plates, roasted root vegetables (superb), cauliflower with chickpeas (a little salty but very good), duck spring roll (large, more like an egg roll), and rabbit pate (very good, very large portion.) These small plates were the largest we have ever had! We should have ordered the first two and then waited to see if we were hungry enough for more. Everything was really good. We were seated right away since we had a reservation and our server was great—very knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive. I would definitely recommend the roasted root vegetables. Excellent local wines. We ended our meal with glasses of grappa and the cookie plate—two of three different cookies which were delicious.

A friend recommended we meet here before my husband's show at The Keller. We loved it so much, we returned with other friends two nights later. Everything about both meals was perfect!

I took a chance and made a last min call to see if they had space for one at the bar and they did! Was a fantastic meal. I had the special main (venison loin over risotto with root veggies). It was amazing. I will be back!

Some of the best food we’ve had recently! We had dinner here with another couple last night. I had opah a Hawaiian fish. It was perfectly cooked and prepared creatively. Others had steak which again was perfectly done with a smokey tasting potato side dish. My husband has some food sensitivities. Even though the restaurant was quite busy, our server and the cooks made sure the food was suitable. We finished by sharing the chocolate soufflé. It was big enough for the four of us! Great place!

Q Restaurant was near our hotel and was highly rated by this site, so we called them on short notice for a reservation. They were able to accommodate us, even though they were busy on this weeknight. The service was excellent, and the food lived up to the high expectations set but the review we had read. Overall an enjoyable meal and experience.

This should say it all - spent 5 nights at the Pineapple Hotel Rose in August and September - ate at Q Restaurant & Bar 4 out of the 5 nights. The food, staff and ambiance are just spectacular!

The phrase “Best of the best!” applies to Q. The food, service, atmosphere and staff are simply amazing. We will never forget and will always share with great enthusiasm our dining experience made possible by Q’s Manager, Chef - who we met, and our Server - Charmaine. They created delicious meals - Osso Bucco was our favorite. The wine smooth and pleasant. Desserts graced the palates with velvety, lingering flavors. Once you visit and taste, you will want to return - WE DID! Thank you Q!

Again a trip adviser recommendation and again not disappointed. Came here for dinner and was pleasantly surprised by the menu and the choice of wine. The waiter was both helpful and provided some interesting reviews of the various wines which allowed us to choose an amazing Pinot noir. The signature chocolate soufflé was to die for and again highly recommended for all visitors. We enjoyed the location so much that the next day we return for afternoon drinks. I highly recommended restaurants all around.

Wow! Friends brought us to this amazing restaurant. Limited menu but fantastic recipes. I had the pasta saffron with octopus. ($32). Others ordered the seafood stew (delicious), and the veal osso bucco. everyone loved their dishes. Price range $10 to $45 excellent selections of wines by the glass and bottle. Bread was fantastic too! Service was impeccable. One of the top 5 restaurants in Portland!

I came here for a late meal and enjoyed the atmosphere and the seafood stew. It was a Sunday night and the restaurant was crowded, which I take as a good sign. The only downside was that the bar service was slow.

We loved the entire experience: great cocktails, appetizers, meals, and wine. The service was excellent! Once again, a Trip Advisor recommendation proved helpful. I had never been to Portland before, and was looking for a venue for a nice family meal - adults only😉

We decided to celebrate our 57 Wedding anniversary at Q ! We enjoyed our seat at the Chefs counter! What a treat from beginning to end! Being up close and personal with Chefs was better than any "show on Broadway" . Seeing their ballet, skill, non verbal communication of the entire team was inspiring. The food was outstanding! Thank you Q. and for those of you in Portland, you should add it to your List!

A lovely, lively restaurant that is trendy in food options. Great service (from Julianne) and delicious entree, large plentiful fresh salads and good appetizers. We enjoyed delicious wine and a drink. So glad we chose this restaurant!

We were lucky enough to visit Portland on a Monday, when Q offers a fixe prix menu with two options. Husband had osso bucco, I had sturgeon -- both creative, new dishes unlike anything we've ever had. Also included were appetizers, salads and dessert, all for $35 each! Plus we got to sit at the kitchen counter and watch the wizards prepare these delicious dishes. Excellent, attentive service. What a joy to reap the benefits of pros doing their best work!

This was our first time at Q. We arrived early for our reservation. So we had a drink at the bar. Through recommendations from the bartender I had the Q & GT (different version of gin & tonic) and my husband had the Meant to Bean (manhattan style drink). They were both amazing. The atmosphere has a romantic feel about it with the exception it is very loud. We were seated near the open kitchen. We really love open kitchen restaurants. There was seating right at the kitchen. If I came again, I would request that seating. We ordered the herb roasted roots with Roquefort butter (had as a side), roasted wild mushrooms with spinach (to share as our salad) and the grilled Hawaiian opah (we each had as an entree). My mouth is watering thinking of it. The favors were incredible. Loved the way the vegetables were roasted. Prices were a little high. Portions were good. Our opah came on top of rice with veggies. It was a beautiful presentation. It did take a little while to get our food. The entrees especially. However, I feel it was worth the wait. Service was incredible. Our server was helpful explaining everything. Our drinks never got low without someone asking if we needed anything. All the staff was very friendly. If you enjoy delicious food, I highly recommend this restaurant!

This restaurant was part of a Foodie Tour tasting from a previous day. The tastings were so good, that we returned for dinner. We were warmly greeted at door and selected the bar area for a better vibe. Not disappointed, very busy area with tables closely arranged. Select the opposite side for more room and quieter surroundings if desired .Wait staff was professional and well versed, cocktails delicious and our entrees were interesting( Apple Salad, Duck, Salmon & Dessert). Will return next time in Portland.

Oaxaca mole braised pork shanks with crispy plantains, toasted pumpkin seeds, cotija cheese, cilantro and lime - need I say more?

Just had the Hawain Opah with peanut sauce for lunch, it was great, as were several other fish courses I have had here. I usually look up all the ingredients before I head over, IF it is something I like it is usually great! (One of the fish dishes I had had a bitter coating, but I scrapped if off and the fish was great.

My wife and I go to Q very regularly, about once a month, at least. Atmosphere is great, very friendly and spirited staff. The food is amazing and what we especially like about the menu is that a lot of it changes at least weekly as the chef develops new dishes and sources different ingredients. Great place!

We were two couples with some specific dietary needs and they met every single one while still providing innovative food that was terrific. The Ricotta Donuts were a great start. Herbal teas, decaf with soy milk, vegetarian options and big appetite options - they met them all. Also good local craft beer. Enjoy

Step into Q off the sidewalk and you enter a warm atmosphere with wooden beams and an overall attractive decor right down to the wonderful flower arrangements on each table. I often regret ordering a house specialty cocktail as they usually disappoint but not here: the version of a Manhattan I got was outstanding. My appetizer of falafel was excellent with a highly creative yogurt sauce. The Baby Gem Caesar Salad was wonderfully garlicky. The pork shank in mole sauce was like butter and the mole was authentic and tasty. My server was very attentive--I dined solo--but seemed to get very busy helping with the pre-closing clean-up toward the end of my meal so I sat for long-ish stretches before getting the chance to order dessert and get the check. But service was overall very good as was everything else.

The receptionist at our hotel recommended this restaurant to us. We were traveling with another couple who were celebrating an anniversary. We were able to walk to the Q restaurant and we’re immediately impressed with the decorum. It has the look and feel of a very upscale restaurant, but we were all in very comfortable clothes. The menu, though pricey, was exceptional. We ordered mostly light fare and shared everything. Our compliments go out to Annie Cuggino, the Executive chef, for an absolutely delicious meal. The only thing better than the meal, were the desserts. We ordered three and shared. This is a fantastic restaurant with a great vibe and great food. Our waitress was very nice and very attentive. If you are visiting Portland, you should put The Q Restaurant and Bar on your list. We will definitely return the next time we are in town.

We loved it! Cozy environment. Superb service. Everybody smiles and are very servicial and attentive. And the food was very good. They gave a great table by the window and we enjoyed the dinner very much. Should be a Portland favorite.

Occasionally we get off the farm and head to Portland. This trip we arrived in time for lunch and opted for this tasty place. Given Covid, we made reservations to sit outside; they are very conscientious about masks and distancing which was nice; they also had seating inside. I had the excellent, freshly made and very nicely seasons calamari with a perfectly matched remoulade, and the baby spinach and wild mushroom salad, which was excellent. The vinaigrette with the crumbled blue cheese was great pairing. My partner opted for the special - grilled wild prawns with Persian spices, which was also excellent. The Pinot Gris I had was perfect. We finished with the chocolate almond macaroons (so good and rich!) and the cherry chunk chocolate ice cream. This place is great and we'll be back many time. Highly recommended.

The food was great and the service was awesome. The mgmt had to deal with a really loud group and they did an excellent job. I’d go back. It was super loud due to the incident

We did the food cart scene in Portland. Wanted to try something different so read the reviews on this restaurant and they were all excellent reviews. Went there and had a great dinner. We had two salmon dishes, and they were excellent our waitress was very attentive .

Food was delicious...as always. Some of the tables are tightly squeezed into the design but thankfully we sat at one with plenty of room.

We had great options for the vegetarians in the group, good walking location to downtown, and a nice atmosphere. Good for couples and small groups.

This was the best food experience in Portland - amazing food with great attention to detail and lovely service. We ate at the ‘chef’s table’ facing into the kitchen was which was fun and fascinating. Do order the bacon wrapped dates to start - delicious! We were there for lunch and wanted to come back that night for dinner because everything on the menu looked equally delicious. Definitely get to this restaurant when you visit downtown Portland!

Great server and food. A really nice addition for PDXland. Close the parking and a nice atmosphere AND SERVES LATE. Pretty vital for us.

If I had one last meal, it would be Q for the Osso Bucco. Every part of every meal is outstanding. The service is amazing. We were met by one of the owners and Chef Anne brought a take home gift to the table. We have gone to Q for our anniversary every year for the last 25 years and we will continue. Thank you

Beautiful restaurant and bar, good service. Food was not that distinct. We had bread (separate charge) that didn't seem that fresh, a large 5 citrus salad (dressing just so-so) and a tasty ribeye with scalloped-type potatoes that my husband loved. Cocktails seemed skimpy. Dessert was also underwhelming

We enjoyed our meal here; some highlights were the steamed buns w duck cracklings and crunchy porchini risotto arancini. We ordered the oso bucco which was a bit heavy; also the bream which was flavorful and light. Steer clear of the Turkish coffee bon bon but the creme brûlée was a delight. A suggestion would be to offer a broader selection of wine by the glass. Exceptional service from Charmain.

Nice variety of good food. Maybe a bit overpriced for what you get. But it is a nice place in a good location.

Chose this restaurant as it was near our hotel and on the strength of consistent good reviews. I was pleased that it lived up to those expectations. Food was very good, service was friendly and knowledgable, and seemed like a good value for the quality of food. The only drawback was it was a bit loud where we were. This is partly a matter of the level of noise from neighboring tables, but the acoustics of the restaurant didn't help. We are likely to return on our next visit.

My wife, an award winning executive chef from Chicagoland, and I treated a guest for Brunch on Sunday. It was our first time and it was amazing. We ordered the Eggs Benedict, Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup and the Ribeye Skewer. Everything was amazing! The Hot Chocolate is delicious. The service was also excellent! This is a must dine when in Portland. Bravo!

Had the duck spring rolls followed by the rabbit ragu pasta, both were really good. Highly recommended.

First time dining at this restaurant and my wife and I were duly impressed. The menu has a limited number of entree items which we actually liked - not as hard to make a decision! I ordered the sturgeon with roasted root vegetables and lentils, perfectly prepared. My wife actually ordered two of their smaller plates - the grilled octopus and bacon wrapped dates. Expertly prepared. I will also add that our server was terrific - knowledgeable and attentive. All in all, a very pleasurable dining experience in a restaurant that clearly knows their business.

For a special occasion, like a birthday that ends in a 5 or a 0, this is my favorite. Superb food and excellent service. And, if you happen to go on a Monday night, score the Prix Fixe menu for only $35.

We came for Portland Dining month and the value was unbeatable. The food and staff were great and the service was quick... we had a show to get to can we were in and out in an hour. Only complaint was they dumped water in my husband’s sprite. No biggie.

Good lunch with fast good service. Food was tasty and uniquely put together. Would definitely recommend for a stress free lunch that you will likely remember.

There are burgers, then there is the Q burger. A quintessential representation of what a burger should be. This burger is it!! Served by a staff of friendly and highly trained professionals, in a well appointed space that leaves one with a memorable dining experience. The food is phenomenally delicious, and the service, while being friendly, is excellent. I always enjoy myself, and as I'm finishing my meal, thinking of my next visit. If you've been here, then you know. If you haven't, you will after your visit. I highly recommend this place.

Fantastic food - we had mushroom bruschetta and steamed buns and pork belly to start. They were so tasty and the two between three of us was perfect. Then for mains we had the raviolini, halibut and a duck special. All of us were very happy! The chunky monkey ice cream was also very tasty. We tried this restaurant because if the great reviews and we weren’t disappointed. If we are back in Portland we would definitely return.

We came on a Sunday and located street parking easily enough. We waited only a few minutes and were seated pretty quickly. The staff were all friendly and attentive from beginning to end. The meal was so fantastic! We loved VQ, so are so thankful Q opened up and we are not disappointed!

Lovely lunch on our anniversary. Hostess was a little standoffish but everything else made up for it. Wonderful cocktails, fresh innovative salads, delicious entrees.

Absolutely fabulous! Cannot recommend enough. Everything is good you will not be disappointed. When in Portland, make time to go here.

This spot offered a great happy hour allowing me to try and indulge in the local brews and the daily menu came with several surprising options that were on the money.

Visited here last night at recommendation of the concierge at our hotel. Had the best meal on our visit to the US so far (by miles). Food was very tasty - simple ingredients cooked really well. I had the grilled prawns and my wife the four cheese ravioli. Both fantastic. The chocolate soufflé Devine - its not enough for four people - I’ll have one all by myself so light and tasty it was. There is a wide selection of wines although they are not cheap. How good was our visit - we’re going again tomorrow.

I attended a winemaker's dinner here with a guest winery. Not only were the pairings perfect but the whole package was on point! Anytime I hear someone is going to Coos Bay I rave about this restaurant. Great wine selections. How luck for us to have such a highly talented chef!!

Four of us had dinner at Q on a recent Saturday night. At 5:30 parking was easy and that started the evening on a good note. It got even better after that. We were quickly seated at a nice table and our wine was opened and served. We were never rushed and the service was impeccable, very attentive servers but not obtrusive. We all had salads, the Caesar and an interesting Hearty Greens with local seasonal greens. Two of us had the Cannelloni special and it was filled with a delicious mix of seafood including calamari, scallops ,shrimp and a white fish. Another had Ossa Buco that is a Q specialty. and the fourth member of our group had the thickest NY Steak I have ever seen. That seems to be a Q theme: all entrees have opulent portions, worth every penny. Kudos to Chef Annie and the staff!

The Q has been a bastion of 5 star consistency and even through the Pandemic they are able to keep to their high standards! Delicious and expertly prepared plates, great services and ambiance. Highly Recommended.

Went to the old Veritable Quandry and when I heard that this place was owned by the old owners of the VQ, I had to check it out. Was not disappointed!

Great food and service. Was bustling and crazy busy on Valentine's day ( we went last year) so wasnt the quiet I was hoping for, but the food was excellent

Lunch with friends, the poached egg salad was fantastic, nice presentation and great flavor. My friends had the vegetarian sandwich, the mushroom salad and tomato soup and everybody was very happy with their choices. Service was efficient and friendly, will definitely go back there

I ate here twice over the weekend I visited. I loved the seafood stew and the menu of "dessert bites." This restaurant is the continuation of the original restaurant VQ. I thought it was pricey but delicious.

The food here is delicious and the service is friendly and amazing. Highly recommend the restaurant. Can't wait to return.

This place! Wow!!!!! Sat at the chef’s table both nights we were in Portland. Dinner + a show! So so fun!!!! No wonder this place is #1. Food and drinks were amazing, but staff was the best!!! Highly recommended!!

Tried this restaurant for the first time last weekend. Excellent food and customer service. Great burger. Will try again.

We considered ourselves lucky to secure a walk-in table at this highlight rated restaurant which really requires a reservation in advance. However, whilst the service was fine, we found the food mediocre, lacking inspiration, and not particularly well executed...even the burger was over-cooked.

Walked from hotel upon arrival to Q restaurant for a late dinner. Enjoyed a quick stroll through Portland followed by a good dinner. Menu has strong Pacific Northwest selection of foods with fresh flavors. Salmon was delicious and cherry cobbler with chocolate muffin was heaven. Missed the Monday night tasting menu at only $35 would have been a bargain. Nice environment, good service and tasty fare - a highly recommended dinner place.

First time, not the last time. Bartenders Jesse @ Grace are effing awesome. Great local bar feel, great local wines (had a few) recommend the large cheese plate. Want a cool hang out, happy hour too, check out Q... Wonder if it's named after the James Bond gagdet guru... A must visit

I needed to meet with another professional for lunch in order to discuss a sensitive matter. Difficult to find a better place. Perfect service, food, and atmosphere.

Who does chicken legs & rice with green chili sauce for brunch?? Sooo good. I skipped the mimosa & bellini because i was here to eat. Not disappointed. Homemade chorizo too salty for me. Hubby & friend had seafood omelet, other friend had steak & eggs - they all raved. A bit pricey but worth it.

Awesome small plate of Kofti (?sp?). It's a ground lamb dish, and was served by the owner and staff; all very gracious. Wish I had time to go back for a full dinner. Nice ambiance in the restaurant.

There was an era when one rated a restaurant excellent on TA, a box showed up asking if this was the best meal you ever had. As we were finishing our osso buco here, my wife and I discussed whether we'd ever had a better meal. I remember a Michelin 3-star in Alsace where our dining partner asked in his heavy NY accent, "so from soup to nuts, have you ever had a better meal?" I don't recall if we had soup at Auberge de I'ill, but if we did, it wasn't better than the tomato soup we had at Q. The roasted wild mushroom and spinach salad rates among the best salads we can remember. The mushrooms were not ID'd, but some certainly had the texture and taste chantrells to me. And the osso buco was lovely as well. We did not have reservations and luckily got seats at the chef's bar in the back where we could watch the magic come together. It was dinner with a movie. To watch the precision with which those scrambling chefs produced beautiful plates, restacking ingredients to maximize presentation, at seeming breakneck speed, was way cool. As we hovered, twice they put together tiny two bite plates for us of something we watched them preparing. The braised Brussels sprouts were amazing. It was a joy to watch, and a joy to enjoy. We'll be in Portland a week. We discussed eating here every night.

I chose this restaurant while working in Portland due to reviews and proximity to the theater. I opted for the kitchen side dining experience. It was fun to watch the chef and staff create amazing dishes. I also got a special tasting of the octopus ceviche. I don’t think you can go wrong with whatever you order here. I had the sangria, grilled pork belly, halibut, cookies and cream ice cream and tres leches cake- my belly was happy!

We were here with the brother of good friend who has been living in Portland for a long time for brunch. Two of us had the French toast which was delicious and one got a fruit plate which was nice and my wife got a cherry tomato tart and a side salad. The atmosphere was very nice and the service was very good.

We tried Q during Portland Dining Month in March. When making our reservation we took a table in the bar area because they were so busy. The service was still amazing even though we were not in the main dining room. My husband ordered the duck confit and loved how crispy it was. I had the mushroom risotto and it was packed with a variety of mushrooms and root veggies. It may be the first time I actually enjoyed eating beets. The food was delicious and the service was great. We tried a wine flight and the server educated us about some new wines. It was a great experience.

Amazing meal, amazing service. Top Portland choice for dinner. We were stunned with every selection. Bacon wrapped dates - must have. We also had stuffed squash blossoms which were delightful. Entrees - pork chop was the best we've ever had and the eggplant ravioli got rave reviews. Add flawless and friendly service from Bruce to the wonderful food preparations and you have a perfect dining experience. The Negroni cocktail was stunning. Don't miss the chocolate souffle - takes 30 mins or so, order early.

An extremely delicious French toast and crisp bacon brunch. Alone I was treated with kindness, professionalism and attentiveness. Give it a try.

Going back again tonight. The chefs table is great especially if you’re solo. They sneaked some stuff and had good advice.

Had dinner here seated at the long table in front of the chef’s kitchen. It was fascinating to watch the skill and organization of the entire team at work. The kitchen itself was beautiful as was the restaurant decor. Service was friendly, unpretentious, and attentive. Food was fabulous. This was the best stop on a food tour we took the day before and it didn’t disappoint. We had the tuna nicoise appetizer and bread, the butter lettuce salad, and the strip steak. All were perfect. Dessert and drinks were also great. Our favorite meal in Portland.

Great dinner, that we both enjoyed very much. The service was great, our waiter was very friendly and made good recommendations. Definitely need reservations, absolutely full on a Thursday night.

My name is Philip Mascher, I'm a long time Portland resident who moved out to The Dalles on the eastern end of the Columbia Gorge two years ago. I don't come to Portland very often anymore, but when I do, Q is one of the places I look forward to returning to. It's always an absolutely amazing experience. I was here for lunch today, and you guys turned this cold, grey and rainy day into sheer bliss for me. The passion, commitment and expertise you all live by is so palpable in each part of the experience. I was welcomed warmly by the hostess, she didn't have a table for me, so recommended I take a seat at the chef's counter. Oh boy was she right with that tip! When I was unsure what to pick for lunch, the warm-hearted server recommended the poached egg salad with a glass of Zin. I went with her recommendation, and as soon as I breathed in the wine she brought, I knew I had made the right choice. I was then treated by different members of your front line kitchen staff to spoonfuls of absolute bliss. There was a mushroom pasta that made me wonder if that should have been my order, a sweet potato mousse that I hoped could be made part of my salad, and some brussel sprouts that would turn even the most ingrained brussel sprout hater into a devotee. Then my salad arrived. Oh my god, every bite was just pure heaven. The balance of flavors and textures was like a spa treatment for the palate, I found myself mopping my plate with bits of bread so as to not lose out on any of it. In spite of the fact that I really didn't need any desert after all that Guy, the fabulous professional working right in front of me, didn't have too hard a time convincing me to stay for desert also. Back to my wonderful server who felt like a family friend by now, and said that I really needed to try the Tiramisu. I ordered it and was treated to yet another specialty in waiting for it - a spoonful of the duck cracklings. I've spent much time in the Dordogne in France, goose and duck is especially close to my heart. Hmmmm, you don't get it any better in the Dordogne, the birth place of foie gras and many other French fowl delicacies. Finally, the Tiramisu arrived with an espresso. And it's true, I've had many T's before, in Italy, France, Germany, Sweden and the US, and none have had the cloud-like lightness yet richness that this masterpiece was displaying. I'm really floored yet again by my whole experience with what your amazing team accomplishes every day. My heartfelt thanks to all of you. Warm regards, flip

We very much enjoyed the unique presentation of special Fusion Foods, the ambience, and the Exquisite settings! The service felt like hanging out with friends who care about you.

My wife and I ended a day of visiting Portland’s natural wonders (Mt Hood, Columbia River, Multnomah Falls) by having dinner at Q. Both the food and service were excellent. The restaurant prepared food off the menu to accommodate diet restrictions. Our Stephen Merchant-look alike waiter was most patient and offered great suggestions). The chocolate souffle is the best we have had over many other restaurants around the world.

I dined here with 2 colleagues while in Portland for business. The restaurant's atmosphere is incredibly warm and cozy, with dark wood, glowing lights and enough noise to see that the restaurant was busy but not so loud that our table had any trouble conversing. Our waiter was friendly and attentive without rushing us in any way. I began with the spinach and roasted mushroom salad which was an exciting combination of textures and flavors of warm, winter woody vegetable with tangy vinaigrette and creamy blue cheese. I followed with the seafood stew, a delicious thick tomato-based roux full of calamari, fish, mussels, and clams. My colleague ordered the mushroom and chard ravioli which she said was delicious. My other colleague ordered the steak and claimed it was one of the 10 best meals of his life.

It was a last minute decision to stop here for a Sunday brunch but we are glad we did. The staff were friendly from the time we walked in the door until we left. We received very good service and attention from our server and the General Manager. Beverages include good choices in their cocktail menu, an extensive wine menu and several regional craft beers. The brunch food menu had several interesting choices. The server was helpful with suggestions we enjoyed the selections we decided upon which were well presented and very tasty. The atmosphere was informal without being overly casual. The noise level was moderately low allowing for comfortable conversation. Overall we enjoyed our experience and would go back again to try the non-brunch menu.

Different opinions from our group about this place, which i think came down to the dishes ordered. We all thought the appetizers that we shared were delicious- crispy spring rolls, plus a smoky calamari. I loved my fresh fish entree. What elevated these dishes was the clever use of fresh herbs in sauces that perfectly balanced everything. The dishes that weren’t winners were a hamburger that was a tad underdone, a too spicy soup, and a flavorless seafood stew like dish.

We recently had the opportunity to dine at the Q Restaurant & Bar in Portland OR. We were lucky to be seated at the bar that overlooks ther kitchen. What fun to watch the chefs in action. They were friendly, not only describing to us what they were preparing, but offering us bites of appetizers they were preparing as well. The Brussels sprouts appetizer is not to be missed. Both of our ordered meals were outstanding. If you like anything fish, we would highly recommend this restaurant. And if you go....ask for the food prep view.

This a terrific restaurant! Seriously good food and drink that is superbly and skillfully prepared. My wife and I lucked into it on the recommendation of a bellman when we recently arrived starving at our Portland hotel at 8:30pm. It was so good we made sure to return a week later after road tripping around Oregon. Annie Cuggino was a culinary heavy-hitter in New York City working for Danny Meyer before landing in Portland and it shows here. She's assembled a charming, warm, dark wood bar with tables and booths that opens into a modest sized restaurant. The bartending was experienced and skillful. Our drinks, Old Fashions and Vodka Gimlets, were righteous pours and delicious. The salads are creative and superb. A chanterelle flatbread was rich and delicious. The cioppino was full of seafood in a nicely spiced tomato broth. Be sure to ask for some grilled peasant bread to sop up the sauce. You'll want to. And and apple cobbler for dessert was absolutely scrumptious. The waitstaff both evenings were bright, knowledgeable and enthusiastic, especially Emmanuel whose friendliness and culinary knowledge were truly impressive. There were a few moments where things could have been more attentive, but during the pandemic every restaurant is somewhat short staffed. Otherwise, they were utterly delightful and friendly. Prices are not inexpensive, but the food is worth it. Even with all its very fine restaurants, Portland is fortunate to have this one. Great place, and Annie Cuggino clearly knows what she's doing. It really shows.

We have been celebrating our anniversary at VQ now Q for over 20 years. It is one of our favorite nights of the year. The food is incredible, my favorite anywhere. The staff is amazing. Chef Anne is personally involved in each meal. Please go and enjoy like we do.

This is a great find in downtown Portland! We have lived around the world and had the best meal and service here since we’ve returned. We started with the Bacon wrapped dates - our 12 yr old son loved them so much we ordered a 2nd! The next treat was squash flowers - lightly fried and fresh from our server’s garden -delicious! We also enjoyed the duck confit spring rolls, the spoon bread and the spinach...all fantastic. Our son had the famous Osso Bucco with risotto and it fell off the bone it was so tender. The spinach and mushroom salad we split was also really fresh. Brandon, our waiter, was really knowledgeable, passionate about the mission of the restaurant and attentive, even though he was tremendously busy. Finally, the wine list is extensive...one of the things we love about restaurants is the wine an ambiance. Here, we could sit in the front, where the windows were open to the street, enjoy the views inside and out and have delicious wines from Oregon. The real treat was in meeting the chef, Annie Cuggino, who is very down-to-earth and focused on cooking great, natural food along with the owners Mazen and Katherine Hariri, who happened to be dining in the restaurant tonight! Love this place...will definitely come back!

Almost went somewhere else after being hung up on by Hanna and then just rude on the phone again. However get past her and the food is fantastic. Our waitress was the greatest. That’s why I gave it 5 stars. And the sour puss on the phone was not seen.

Had been referred here a couple times so we thought we would try it. Service was fantastic. Food was good but overpriced and not a lot of choices. We enjoyed the atmosphere but I probably won't go back. I wouldn't tell anyone to NOT go but would suggest looking at the online menu first.

Everything was delicious! We happened to be there on Monday, when they have the super deal of 2 distinct Prix fix 4 course menus. We each took one and absolutely everything was delicious - from the prawns to the bacon wrapped dates, to the steelhead and the incredible cherry cobbler. It all just worked and the size of the dishes was just right for a tasting menu. Each menu was $35! A true bargain. Great atmosphere. Definitely check this one out!

This restaurant is exceptional on every level. Superb food, lovely service, perfect ambience - a very special experience. Best restaurant in our U.S. trip thus far. Highly recommended.

What a fantastic brunch on a cold, rainy Portland afternoon! From the moment we entered to our exit, this was a superb meal. We were warmly greeted, then seated at a comfortable window table. The impeccable service continued with another welcome, Drink suggestions and orders taken, menus and specials explained. We ordered the chicken pot pie, along with a Q burger and fries. All food was excellent: the burger (high quality beef) cooked perfectly to "medium rarish" as requested, crispy fries, a toasted bun. And the chicken pot pie was the best I've ever been served in a restaurant - plenty of chicken, carrots, mushrooms and onions in a savory sauce with a flaky and tasty crust. Great attention to drinks, food, and our overall meal. For those who may still be mourning the passing of the old VQ, rest assured that not only has the former restaurant's excellence been maintained, but it has been taken to new heights. Side note: it would be quite difficult to find a better way to spend some time while charging the car just around the corner on SW Salmon St.!

Great menu and fun staff. Excellent selection of local wines and beers. Save room for dessert - the crisp is extraordinarily good.

One of our dining month places and very happy we tried the "new" version of VQ. Much of the menu is the same or similar to what the old location served. That is a good thing. Plus some new items as well. For dining month we tried the Tagliolini and Chicken parm. Both with great flavor. Cooked well. The stracciatella soup was so good we wanted seconds. Their caesar is well done too. Dessert was vanilla gelato with cookies and a butterscotch pudding. Great finish to a great meal. Excellent service too. They make you feel right a home.

WOW… What an amazing culinary experience stopping in here for lunch was!!! I had heard that the chef here was amazing and found out one day when I came for lunch. I sat at the bar since I didn’t make reservations and they were busy. It was tough choosing form the amazing menu, but I opted for the Walu sandwich. They offered Ono for a fish option too, but I chose the Walu, since I’d never had it before. I started with a bean soup, which was outstanding! The fish sandwich was incredible! The slaw really tied it all together and made this Hawaiian sandwich really snap! I saved room for dessert when I learned that they had warm marcona almond cake and I’m thankful I did, as it was outstanding! Overall – I highly suggest this amazing restaurant… it was easily the best I experienced on my trip to Portland!

Our family had dinner at this restaurant for my dad's birthday, and we had the best time. Our party of 7 included multi-generations, 9 year old child to a 93 year old grandma, and the kindness of the staff was refreshing and appreciated. If you want amazing customer service sit in Rachelle's section- she is great and the food was amazing. Everyone enjoyed their dinner, drinks, and dessert. I highly recommend this restaurant and we will be back. I can not say enough good things about it.

Excellent food and excellent service. The menu had all the right notes and did it very well. The Osso buco and the salmon were perfect.

So glad we managed to get a seat overlooking the kitchen at this wonderful restaurant! I had the raviolini and my husband had the Oso Bucco. Both were outstanding dishes with wonderful flavors and fresh ingredients. We completed our meal sharing profitables which were a perfect balance of vanilla, pecon, chocolate and cherry, with fresh mint scattered about. The kitchen chefs were a wonderfully orchestrated team. An absolutely exceptional meal, the best of our trip so far!

First trip into the city and we found this gem for brunch. Eggs Benedict was wonderfully done while my wife enjoyed the salmon dish with a poached egg. Attentive staff and a solid atmosphere. We'll be back.

Given to me by the hotel staff in Marriott as a recommended restaurant eat, I’m glad I went. Everything I ate was delicious and the service was great. Restaurant staff made excellent recommendations and the soufflé is to dai for LOL.

Sit at the Chef's Counter and watch the chefs create delightful food before your eyes! The chefs are friendly and will lead you through the specials and menu. Between Chef Cody and our waiter, we got great service without feeling rushed. We started off with stuffed zucchini blossoms prepared uniquely with ricotta and vegetables. The duck confit spring rolls were large, filling and delicious! The bacon-wrapped dates were delectable. The trout with chanterelles was tasty and unique. A very busy place, but not overly noisy and a pleasant atmosphere. An excellent wine list featuring Oregon and Northwest wines. Definitely worth a visit - especially for foodies!

Very slow service while food is about 3.5/5. Allow about 1.5 hours for lunch and probably longer for dinner. Requested dessert right away but waiter had a different opinion (did not voiced but brought dessert way after meal was finished). Customer service is just average and time waiting for food is below average. This was second visit to restaurant as i work near by and both times were the same (came around 1pm and 2pm both times). No more visits.

Had stopped to try Sunday Brunch. At best food was almost adequate. For the price I was disappointed. Menu was limited

We were quite delighted we went to this nice establishment. The food and service were all pretty good. Our starters were different salads and a very nice pizza (a must). For the main i had lamp chops very succulent others had fish, spaghetti with albacore tuna and grilled shrimp all very good and tasty. A good restaurant to visit when in Portland.

I had heard many good things about this restaurant besides it being recommended by a tour guide. However, I made my entree selection of Opah and asked to have the sauce on the side, also no beans or rice. The waitress told me she would speak to the chef. She came back and said that the chef will not prepare it for me the way I asked. It was lucky that I had ordered a spinach salad or I would not of had anything to eat. There was not any other entree I could eat because of my diet restrictions. I have been to many restaurants and have never had a problem like this before.

We visit almost once a week for Brunch! This is "old" Portland. Thank you for keeping it friendly, unpretentious, and oh so yummy!

I suggest thinking outside the normal ordering box- we were a table of 4 and we decided to share a number of small plates/sides and this was the best decision we made all night!! We basically ordered the entire sides menu (except for the pate and cheese board) and it was a perfect amount of food! The Brussels sprouts and gnocchi were surprise winners. The Brie pizza was incredible and the seafood stew ended our savory meal in spectacular fashion. Did I mention the goat cheese stuffed dates wrapped in bacon?! For dessert we shared the chocolate soufflé with a side of sorbets (passionfruit and blood orange). It was exceptional! The service was excellent, menu creative and everything was perfect. Plus- the final bill was extremely reasonable!!! ($220 for 4 people including a $70 bottle of wine before tip)

I was raised to try everything and occasionally splurge on a "fancy" meal...i travel with my husband as often as possible and am in charge of finding new places to eat - I HATE chains! Trip Advisor is my go to and is pretty much spot on...they were not wrong here! We were lucky enough to arrive on a Monday and enjoy the Prix Fixe menu. We did one of each (2 choices) and shared. Added the wine pairings for $18...we sat in front of the kitchen and drooled our way thru one of the most amazing and delightful meals evah! Brandon our waiter was a delight and very informative, we sat next to a foodie from Albuquerque and the chefs - over the top - snuck us a few extra tastings that I probably wouldn't of ordered but will now. Other reviews are correct - bacon dates and osso buco are to die for! This is definitely a run don't walk - we may even go back tonight

Very nice, upscale restaurant. Bread is delicious, steaks were done just right. We ordered the chocolate soufflé, that’s a definite would order again. Little noisy and service was sort of erratic but not a deal breaker.

Booked in advanced, arrived about 20min late on July 4th as car parking in the area is very limited and we spent 30’ looking for a spot. We got rejected with no mercy. I struggle to understand a restaurant in downtown Portland that refuses two tourists with a reservation showing up with a delay in such situation. Restaurants here should be grateful that tourists still show up. Downtown Portland, where the restaurant is located, is full of drug addicts and homeless, overall the streets feel unsafe. a really unacceptable situation for any tourist coming from a developed country with welfare. Will not try to go again to this restaurant, will not go back to Portland either

This is where you go for a fabulous meal! Two Seattle friends and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner here. Our waitress was well informed about the menu and extremely helpful. We had delicious cocktails first, with appetizers: wild mushroom bruschetta and stuffed dates. We shared a beautiful fresh salad, perfectly dressed. Then our dinners were exquisite: fresh Walu, duck confit, and ravioli. We did not skip dessert and coffee. One was an elaborate banana cream pie, the other an almond cake. The decaf coffee was excellent and each of us had a pitcher refill. We will return for another great experience. Thank you Q!

Exceptional! I am a vegetarian. I ordered the cheese ravioli and I’ve never had “cheese ravioli” like I have here. Amazing and unique. Loved it!!

The food was great and the service was even better. We had the duck confit, the broccolini soup, the caesar, the sandwich special and the house-made ice cream. Everything was very, very good. Plus nice people.

While overwhelmed with dining choices in Portland, this is our solid. We have never, ever been disappointed by a dish at Q - and I think we've tried them all. The staff is excellent. The service always top notch.

One of my favorite Portland restaurants. New incarnation of what was previously the Veritable Quandary

Q is successor to the lamented Veritable Quandry. New location, same approach to good, local and creative food. Always a good bar scene and happy hour

A lovely spot, with warm and capable wait service. Greeted at the door with a beautiful smile, on to the beet-infused Mary and proccesco mosa. Very good both. Followed by a side-caesar- Como bread croutons! Wow. Salad overdressed, too bad cause the greens were so fresh and crunchy. Highlight was croque monseiur- sweet not savory. Huge serviing size. Benidict was okay. Also generwously sized.

Delicious! Knowledgable staff, bathrooms were clean, amazing flavor combinations; be sure to ask about the specials.

Upon the recommendation of the Marriott -Downtown Portland Waterfront, I took a group of three people there last night and a group of 16 people tonight. The wait staff — Brandon and Stephanie — were excellent. Both had detailed knowledge of the menu and were able to make solid menu recommendations. Without knowing that my group was an agricultural group, Brandon explained how the restaurant was a farm-to-table restaurant. Unfortunately, I neglected to get back to my room with the dining receipt for our meal on the first night and it was needed to reconcile the credit card charge. So, I called the restaurant and asked if I could get a copy. Erin Hokland, the restaurant’s general manager, had the replacement receipt ready for me when we returned with our second group. All of our my meeting participants enjoyed their dining experience here — and that’s why some of them had no objection to returning a second time and would recommend the restaurant without reservation.

One of downtown Portland’s best restaurants for lunch, dinner, or brunch on weekends. Very popular with the locals. Great wine list and superb cocktails. Highly recommended.

Wow, wow, wow. Fabulous dinner, great service, cool / intimate setting. We were just walking by and stopped in, hadn’t no idea how great the experience would be. Outstanding meal.

I will make this a short review as there isn’t much more to say about this great place. My friend and I both had the steak pittsburgh style; that night it was a ribeye. Although I often avoid this cut because it can be very fatty, this was perfect, marbled and flavorful but was not fatty. I started with the duck confit rolls - amazing. My friend had one of the interesting salads. The accompanying veggies and sauces were perfect and unique (in my experience) Cannot wait to go back

Our hotel recommended this place and it was everything we were looking for. Farm to table foods, good local wine, and great service. The bacon wrapped dates were a great start and then we had the burger which was filling and great quality beef. This will definitely be a repeater for me when I get back to Portland.

This place was awesome! The service was impeccable, the drinks were inventive and the food was amazing! 100% recommend if you love food!

We had a knowledgeable server who helped us with both menu selections & wine. The food was fantastic and though the menu changes frequently, I have a feeling the deliciousness stays the same.

If you have the money you’ll like the food. But everything seems about 40% more than it should be. How about $79.00 for 4 drinks and 2 bowls of soup and a steamed bun. It was good soup but, still... the bread was an extra $5.00. One steam bun, cut in half, was$12.00 Service was good. We sat outside because of the pandemic

Lunched there yesterday and was seated at Chef’s bar. Ordered wine and the black bean with mole sauce, avocado, and pickled onion tostada. Wow!!! The mole sauce was amazing. I didn't have a reservation but was still warmly received, Service great, and kitchen interacted with me which was fun. I highly recommend Q!

Our hotel concierge recommended Q for us when we requested an option that would be a quintessential Portland dining experience. We were not disappointed. We were greeted promptly and professionally, upon entry. We arrived early for our reservation and the manager saw that we were accommodated, which was most appreciated. We dined in the bar area, which turned out to be a more quiet, enjoyable experience to the dining area that is a little more loud and phrenetic, surprisingly. Although, for those interested in something a little different or more exciting, there is a chef’s counter in the dining area that affords a fully immersed and entertaining experience. The counter must be requested and appears to be action packed so advance reservation is likely necessary to avoid disappointment. We started with an apple salad that was refreshing and absolutely delightful. The duck cracklings were incomparable, unhealthy and absolutely divine - not to be missed! Similarly, our entrees were delicious and thoroughly enjoyed. Both of our cocktails and meals were flavorful and well thought out. We ended with soufflé and it was perfection. Service was fantastic and well aligned with our expectations for this type of establishment. We will most certainly return when we are next in Portland.

On a recent road trip through Oregon I spent one night in Portland and thankfully chose Q for a nice meal and cocktails. Was seated at the bar (my choice when dining solo), and received the most gracious service from the bar manager and Portland cocktail genius, Grace Babcock. Had one of her well-balanced, nuanced, and complex cocktails off the bar menu, the Rhupaul, and it was simply one of the best drinks I've ever had. During my meal and drinks I chatted with Grace about the booming, innovative Portland cocktail scene and her amazing creations—while she handled a busy bar—and she made a custom Manhattan riff for me, again, just an excellent libation. For dinner I had the "bacon and egg" salad and the housemade ravioli, both excellent. One of the most fun evenings of my trip, such wonderful friendly service and lovely food & drink. Looking forward to revisiting Portland and Q Restaurant.

We were given a recommendation by a lady we had met on a tour of Portland and pitched up for lunch. We were looking for something really good and not over complicated to eat and my goodness did Q fit the brief. Both our lunch dishes were just spot on with the chef clearly using the best local ingredients and those ingredients treated with respect. Well done Q.

Overpriced, terrible service. We made a reservation for 5:15pm, didn’t get seated until almost 5:30pm. Our waitress was no where to be seen for almost 20 mins. She finally came over and asked if we were headed to John Oliver at 7 and we said yes so she knew we were now tight on time. We ordered and then as she’s backing away from the table informs me the fried chicken I ordered would take at least 20 mins to cook and walked away. Didn’t bother to ask if I wanted to reconsider. It came across as though she thought it was funny. We got our meal and the chicken was terrible. For $38 I expect good chicken that’s not overcooked. We had been looking forward to dining here as we’d heard such great things. We noticed everyone at the bar was served quickly, politely and happily. So utterly disappointed with this very expensive meal. On a positive note, the other server that actually brought us our drinks was lovely and attentive as she could be. The decor is also very nice.

Just passing by and found the venue attractive. A warm summer day so the windows were wide open for brunch. Vegetable eggs Benedict with avo over superb hash brown bake. Chicken and mushroom crepes piled high. Fantastic flavors.

Q Restaurant & Bar provides outstanding food and service. I ordered bacon wrapped dates for my appetizer, Osso Buco for my entree, and piña colada tres leches cake for dessert. Each portion of my meal was exceptional. The Osso Buco the best I’ve ever had, and the tresleches dessert was unique and very flavorful. The hostess was very friendly and welcoming, and my server was amazing, she was timely and attentive to all my dining needs. I highly recommend this restaurant, and I will return the next time I’m in Portland.

I have never eaten here, but I sometimes come here for cocktails. Pleasant ambience, delightful service, and a great downtown location.

What a lovely surprise. This dinner on Monday night was prix fixe and fabulous. I travel a great deal and love food so this place was a great find. Each course was over the top with lively sauces, fresh ingredients and perfect preparation. The wine list was good and they offered wine pairings for each course at a fair price.

Whenever I fly into this beautiful city, I have the privilege of going to this restaurant. I have been consistently enticed to come back by their amazing food. Sitting at the chefs counter is a culinary treat, literally you are spoiled with little samples and droplets of excellence. Highly recommend!

Brother's 70TH birthday lunch...Chose Q from our fondness of the VQ ( new but not improved ) Had reservations ( went anyway ) They didn't remember and tried to seat us at the bar. Rest of party stood by hostess station waiting . Hostess chose to clean tables as opposed to addressing guests. Had a nice table to our selves next to open kitchen. Service was bad .. line cook had to deliver our soups, wait staff was no where to be found... Now the food ...very expensive...fish ( not fishes ) and chip ...one piece only for $25 came with a jalapeno slaw so spicy it was not edible ...so hot two in the party of five had serious issues swallowing after tasting. 70th birthday asked server if they had a dessert for the birthday guest...she replied " I'll stick a candle in what ever you buy "...Wow that's nice that's real nice...found out we were having dessert at home...Informed server we are not ordering dessert...In the meaning of waiting for ever for the check she brings out a empty dessert dish with a candle on it??? WTF IS THAT... Have dined around the world and never ever would have thought someone would do such a thing... Just lost 5 guests on ever returning and the hundreds of people whom we tell the story to...it's a good one...purchased a gift card would like a refund !!!

Great service, excellent food, good craft beer choice. I highly recommend going for lunch or dinner. Sitting at the chef's bar is fun.

Excellent customer service, food, and ambience. Came here on a Wednesday night for dinner, and it was busy. There was a company gathering of about a dozen people next to us, which made it a little loud. And, when they left, another group of about 14 company workers replaced them, but they were not as loud, fortunately. Street parking only, but parking was relatively easy to find. Our server was Blake, and he was great. We started out with a bottle of 2014 Murgo Brut Spumante, and it was good. Then, we ordered the Bacon Wrapped Dates, which were amazing!! We probably could have just ordered a bunch of these and called it good for the night. We also had the Pugliese Bread, which was good with either the olive oil or balsamic vinegar. My girlfriend had the Ricotta-Filled Spinach Ravioli, and she said it was average. I had a couple of bites and agreed. I had the New York Strip Steak, and we both agreed that it was fantastic. It was medium rare. For dessert we had the Chocolate Souffle, and it was great! We paired it with the homemade Vanilla Ice Cream, which was outstanding! Please note that the Souffle requires 45 minutes to prepare, so you'll need to order it ahead. The only reason I could not provide five stars is because it is so noisy in here, more than average for a place of this class. If you can handle that, then this is a non-issue.

Wow!! First of all trip advisor is my GO-TO for real reviews and honest opinions about restaurants. Unlike that other one that business owners can pay to take off their bad reviews. Eek. No thank you. This restaurant was on our list for Portland as newbies to the city. It did not disappoint! Kristi was an amazing server and gave great recommendations and service. The bacon-wrapped dates are a must along with the short rib appetizer. So tender ! I had the fish which was absolute amazing and hubby had the Ossining bucco which is a house specialty and so delish. We enjoyed this local Pinot Noir that we had not tried before. Dessert was lovely also with cheesecake. This place has great ambiance, great service , and amazing food. We will be back !!!

On the corner in a shopping area this place is upscale, offers excellent service and varied apps and dishes. Everything we ordered was wonderful.

we were at the Veritable Quandary 3 yrs ago and loved it. Came back to Oregon for our yearly visit and decided to try the Q , same chef. Food was amazing? We were there for lunch and had the summer squashes, blackened catfish, and the seafood stew. Every dish was mouth watering. I've never tasted a better fish stew! We had the chocolate abacela port soufflé's for dessert but you need to order it before you start your meal. Absolutely divine.. I lived in France for a year and I have tasted many soufflé's . This is the best by far! Can hardly wait to return

Not impressed. This place was recommended to us by some local friends as a good mid-level gourmet restaurant in the center. Farm to table. Salad with mushrooms was ok and lamb was under seasoned (rather old fashioned interpretation). That said it was more expensive then anticipated

Wonderful tapas, great service, lovely atmosphere can honestly say they're the best tapas we've had in Oregon, US. Nothing was too much trouble, and they even shared the recipes. Will be back soon.

As always warmly welcomed. The food is fabulous and the service is exceptional. If you can get seated in Dale's section tell her Neil sent you!

We had a wonderful meal. So much care went into sourcing and preparing delicious ingredients and in making things in house. We started with the cheese and fruit plate which had an amazing selection of European cheeses. The fried chicken entree was beautiful and tasty and the halibut with risotto was disappeared without any effort at all! The ice cream bon bon and sorbet were packed full of flavour and presented beautifully. Justin looked after us with so much care.

Not sure if we would get seated on a Saturday night without a reservation, but they found a spot for us. We sat in the back near the kitchen, a little loud but not too bad. The Brussels sprouts were delicious, along with the bacon wrapped dates. The chocolate souffle was a treat. A nice evening.

Phenomenal experience all the way around from starting drinks to desert. AMAZING! I had a local Porter but she had a "Girl from Empenita" which was a mixologist sensation. Next was a flavorful baguette (from local Grand Central bakery) then the Stuffed Roasted Green Chile (every bite a flavor explosion! The corn..THE CORN!) followed by the Gem Caesar Salad w anchovies (perfect). Then the entries: Osso Bucco and Grilled Marinatted Flat Iron Steak. We shared it all. OMG..they were beyond, Beyond. Chocolate Soufflé accompanied by Turkish coffee ice cream (they make their own) was chocolate cloud heaven. Watching the kitchen dynamic was an incredible show. Service was stellar...all I can say is 5 star..and JUST DO IT!

Found by accident & delighted with staff & food. Creative menu without being too avant-garde. Bartenders extremely helpful & responsive. Kitchen produces very quickly.

Stumbled upon this gem while seeking a lunch option. From appetizer to dessert, we enjoyed our service and food. A must visit. Plus, you can walk off the calories just two blocks away on the river front.

I was visiting Portland on business, and went to Q for dinner. It was just what I needed. The service was fantastic, especially one of the bartenders. I cannot remember her name, but she had excellent wine recommendations, and was able to share some stories behind each wine. Also the duck confit spring rolls are a must. Whether taking a break from work, or looking for a nice spot with friends, I highly recommend Q. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in town.

Visited the Q on a recent business trip to Portland for a business meeting. The ambiance is nice although a bit on the crowded and loud side. There are two bars - make your way into the place to find the one near the kitchen. We arrived before our guests and were warmly greeted including offering us a beverage while we waited for our table reservation (the bar was full). The tables and bars are a bit too closer together, however, the appointments create a nice upscale atmosphere. Our waiter was knowledgeable although not overly friendly. We selected fish which was good although not great. Decent wine list.

our foursome had a lovely dinner at Q. our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the wines and dishes on offer, and offered several tastings to meet one of our group's taste preferences. wines by the glass are not inexpensive, but are of very high quality (one of the $12 glasses was from a bottle that retails for $70, so there is clearly no gouging going on.) we had two different salmon dishes, both excellent, over an outstanding succotash; the "small plate" seafood stew was much more than a small plate in size. this was our first dinner at q - we have had brunch and happy hour here previously - and it will definitely be on our "keeper" list. while not inexpensive - figure $125-150 with tip - the price is well worth it.

If your not eating at the Q-Bar you are missing out on the best dining experience in Portland. My go to place for any occasion or meal. Don’t miss this gem!

When the VQ closed, we all wondered whether its new incarnation, Q Restaurant and Bar, would be anywhere as good. Well, I'd say it is even better. They have impeccable service, creative dishes that change daily (except for a core of favorites like Osso Buco, beautiful presentation to all dishes, a great wine list, and a warm vibe. You can't go wrong dining here.

Very good food, service is fine, but the cost is a little bit higher than expected. the wine "pinot noir from Oregon" was fine, the chicken was good, the Rosso buck was too "cheesy"

Loved the old VQ and had wanted to try Q, finally did. The new space still has buzz and life to it, it just doesn't have the same historical feeling or outdoor space, but I still liked it. Food quality still very high. The service is professional. The tone is that it's a nice restaurant, but with prices still somewhat under control, which is refreshing. Note: the Monday prix fixe at $35 for 4 courses is a great deal, although the portion sizes are much smaller than the regular menu of the same dishes, which I was not really aware before ordering it...if you are a bigger eater, it's advisable to ask about that and perhaps not have the prix fixe. One issue I had, it was too loud (we were in the back room near the kitchen and near the kitchen door) for a pleasant conversation, had to speak really loudly to be heard (and this was at our table for 2). Perhaps they can put in more sound deadening materials? Other than that, a great experience.

Sat at chefs table. Cannot Fault Any of the food, was delicious.however asked for bread With our starter when we Realized there was a lot of delicious sauce to soak up. Three waiters all came to take away the plates while we waited for it. We eventually gave up on the bread when the mains did come out and let them Take the starter plates. We got the bill before asking for it or even Finishing desert or drinks. Never being asked if we needed anything else (we still went on to order more drinks and cocktails). Water Spilt on one of the others legs and the coffee cocktail cream was spilt On the other girls leg without much of apology from The waitress. We felt rushed Or ignored sitting at the chefs table and are not sure if it was where we sat or our waitress On the night. Sturgeon and blue cheese salads were both winners.

We had dinner at Q one night when we spent a few days in Portland in July 2023, and it was outstanding. The dishes were thoughtful and creative, and they were prepared with great care and attention to detail. In addition to the flavours, much thought was put into the interesting and very satisfying combinations of textures. We had the pork belly lettuce wraps, seafood tagliatelle, and a special. We also had excellent sazeracs. Service was excellent, friendly and attentive. The place is very nice inside with a nice bar, and large windows along the whole length. We plan to go back when we are again in town.

I was sadly disappointed with the results, small, and poor flavor For all great reviews that other people gave, my expectations were dashed This was just a one time experience and maybe in the future I would have a better experience.

First time at this place. My order was a simple salad but it was fresh, so I’m quite happy. Wife ordered sturgeon - really delicious so I added a piece of her sturgeon to my salad- awesome. Flower less soufflé to finish the dinner with vanilla ice cream on the side. We’re pretty impressed.

We were looking for a restaurant near our hotel in mid-afternoon where we could grab a quick bite to eat and my husband spotted Q Restaurant. Boy, was THAT a fortuitous choice! Very nice looking bar-restaurant with excellent service. The food, however, was outstanding. Chef Annie Cuggino has really developed some excellent dishes. We were there for lunch and our burger and smoked Turkey sandwich were the best we’ve ever had. The thin cut French fries with a strip of potato skin were also some of the best we have had. The strawberry Shortcakd was generous enough to share and the shortcake was very tender. I have always relied on Trip Advisor for restaurant recommendations but I REALLY want to go back to Q to try their dinner selection. I think you can tell that we really liked this place!!

Great welcome. Very fine cuisine. We recommand, absolutely. It's à Nice approach of the paradise of Gourmets. Sandra et Fred from New Caledonia

This is a delightful place to have dinner. They have an interesting, innovative menu. I had the sturgeon which was delicious. Service was very friendly and efficient. I plan to return here the next time I'm in Portland.

This is a terrific place. The service is friendly and efficient; the food is fresh; and the vibe is busy, but casual, almost like a neighborhood place. The downside? There is no downside other than the fact that this casual excellence comes at a price. It's not a break-the-budget, fine dining place, but a place that proves that good food and service deserves a premium. Even if you wince slightly when the bill comes, what you will remember later is what a good overall dining experience you had at Q.

Had a great time at this restaurant. Great vibe with excellent food and fantastic service. The chef was able to modify the menu for the vegetarians and did a great job!!.
Unique dining experience in downtown
Q Restaurant in downtown is a hidden gem with friendly service, albeit a tad slow. The falafel was a standout, incredibly light and flavorful. I loved the ossobucco, a true delight. My daughter found the squid seafood pasta a bit underwhelming, but the barramundi with fruit sauce was a delicious surprise. Worth a visit for inventive and delicious food.
