I was in Chicago last week and was staying nearby. The hotel where I stayed recommended Quartino when I asked where they would suggest for pizza. As I was by myself, I chose to dine in the bar area rather than the restaurant section. I had a very enjoyable visit. The food and wine were delicious; service was very prompt and efficient and it was a nice atmosphere. In particular I would like to thank Latoya for the excellent service and welcome she provided.

We visited as we were nearby and thought our meal was average at best . The restaurant was packed so we were expecting good things but this was not the case . Our meat balls were luke warm , the eggplant parmigiana was tasteless and our sausage pizza was just ok . Our waitress Cassandra was lovely and probably the only highlight from the night. The meal was not expensive so I imagine that is one reason for the large crowd . There are many better options for Italian restaurants in Chicago.

The tortellini and margarita pizza were great and Keimon was a lovely server! Would recommend for a reasonably priced dinner!

Exactly what we wanted. Authentic Italian, relaxed atmosphere, good service. The staff was very friendly and gracious. Great experience for my 16 yr old daughter and I in town for a quick sports trip.

Food was delicious, waiter was helpful and attentive, nice atmosphere.. We came for lunch on a Sunday. Restaurant was quiet enough that we were able to catch up with old friends.

Great food, great atmosphere and the view from the balcony as well as the fresh pasta and tiramisu is amazing. Our server Holden was great and very patient and helpful.

Saturday evening dinner was a very disappointing experience, not because how packed & crowded it was but the taste & quality of food served. Caprese salad was a combo of barely ripe tomato slices & disproprtionstely smaller amount of buffalo mozzarella & insufficient amount of balsamic dressing…Ordered Shrimp Diavolo & added angel hair past w/ it. The shrimp portion was tasty but the sauce could have been something out of a can & I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. Can’t comment on the service as I ate at the bar but can’t imagine being able to be attentive when the place was so crowded. For the price ($45 for two items mentioned), the quality/taste ought to be better. W/ so many great Italian options in town, it’s a hard pass NO for me.

Quartino is a classic. Ask for Lulu to be your host! She took such good care of us. We came here for a birthday and she made it so special.

Great ambiance, wonderful food, very nice selection of food and beverages. I had a bruschette, house pasta pappardelle - both were delicious and fresh tasting. I got profiteroles for dessert and those were delicious. Finally, an espresso was nice finish to the meal. Highly recommend and will come back.

Despite having an early dinner, the place was nuts! They were very accomodating in getting us a relatively quiet table, but truly in this restaurant there is no such thing as quiet! It is a zoo. Our server, Michelle, was excellent. She accomodated our request for separate checks as well as food preferences. It is not her fault that the food comes out "as it is ready", so the kid's meal came after many of the adults' meals, which made for some additional stress. The food was okay...but the noise level was painful. Seems very popular though, so who knows!

Lulu was an INCREDIBLE server! The service here was amazing and I loved the atmosphere!! I would 100% recommend this place!!

I recommend Quartino for lunch in Chicago - it is one of the few places in the area with decent prices and good service. Food is tasty and well prepared. Kudos to Skye and the manager on duty who have shown they understand the meaning of customer service. I would have given 5 stars if it were not for the quality of the white wine by the glass - my Orvieto was oxidized.

Our server Lulu was amazing! The food and wine is always great and the shared plates are a great way to slow down and really enjoy the meal and company you’re with.

Great late night Italian food. We had a mix of light fare including beet salad, arugula salad, broccolini and a mushroom pizza. Everything was good and the server was very nice. We don’t have a reservation so we ate at table near the bar.

Food was fantastic and service by Terra was amazing! Will definitely be back. Highly recommend the risotto and short rib.

Great atmosphere, very inviting. Great food - I always get the burrata a side of vegetables, and the veal sliders on occasion; and excellent cocktails. Very friendly staff, Terra was wonderful and helped me select a bottle of wine to go. I've always enjoyed Quartino, it's good restaurant for dining with others or solo. No wait time on a Sunday afternoon for a solo seat.

First rate service, great prices on carafes of wine. Christopher took great care of us. Ate and drank in the wonderful bar with tiled floor and walls and beautiful woodwork.

Great vibe and service. Food was hot and fast. Desert was fantastic. Only thing that was missing but want a problem was that my espresso martini didn’t come with 3 coffee beans

The food was INCREDIBLE. We had a delicious (and shockingly slightly spicy) Caesar salad. I ordered the Gnocchi (it’s a specialty apparently), and it was to die for. Some of the best I have had. The chocolate cake and other desserts were the best way to end the night. Emma was our server and was a lovely human being who was an above and beyond server.

Food was fresh, well prepared and elegant. The flavors was just right. I had a simple meal of spaghetti with meatballs and it came garnished with cherry tomatoes and dried leaves with just the right amount of sauce. No strand was spared! I would come back again. The price was only 25 dollars with my lemon and mint drink! Wow what service too! The ambiance was great too!

I had an excellent experience at Quartino, thanks to my server Jeff. From start to finish, he was attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. My drinks were always refilled, the food came out perfectly timed, and he checked in at just the right moments without ever being overbearing. Jeff also knew the menu well and gave great recommendations, which made the evening even better. His service felt natural and sincere — the kind that makes me want to come back. Next time I visit, I’ll definitely be asking for Jeff.

We came in for a late dinner mid week and were greeted with fast and friendly service, our server Clif was knowledgeable and made some great recommendations on the menu. For being a “small plates” restaurant we all felt like portions were large and definitely enough for everyone to get a solid portion. Highly recommend the Caesar salad, pappardelle with short rib, and tiramisu! Prices were very reasonable as well

We visited this location late night for a bite to eat. The ambience was great. The food was even better and our waiter. Jeff was awesome. He did an excellent job explaining to us newbies. What items on the menu are his favorite and share some options that might peak our interest. We ended up ordering two pizzas that were phenomenal with high-quality ingredients. Jeff continually checked on us asking us how we liked our meal. Even offering suggestions for dessert and drinks. His suggestions were on point! Jeff mentioned he was relatively new. However you couldn’t tell it by his familiarity with the menu and the professionalism he displayed as our waiter. You’ve got a great employee in Jeff and you have a wonderful menu. We’ll be back.

Great casual Italian with a fun atmosphere. You’ll need a reservation for the dining room but the bar also has full service. When you go, ask for LaToya’s section. She’s the best!

Second time here. Great food. Reasonable price. Lovely service. Just come here and enjoy. We came back because my partner "needed" polenta fries. Wine is good and super affordable. Try the gnocchi too.

We had the BEST experience at Quartino! From the moment we walked in, everyone was warm and welcoming. It was packed (on a Thursday night!), but our server Tara was amazing—attentive, friendly, and totally on point the entire evening. We started with the veal sliders and fried calamari—both chef’s kiss delicious. My husband had a cold Peroni, and we shared a half bottle of cabernet that paired beautifully with everything. For dinner, I had the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken (homemade pasta = heaven), and my husband had the shrimp risotto which was absolutely to die for. We ended with a Braulio shot and a tiramisu literally the size of my face—no joke! Took half of it home. Bonus: They sell their amazing twist-and-grate cheese tool for just $12 (we saw something similar on Amazon for $29, and it wasn’t even the same quality!). Pro tip: Make a reservation—we got lucky but it fills up fast, and with good reason. We love this place! The food, the vibe, the service—10/10. We’ll definitely be back! Highly recommend! This was our second dinner here. First experience was great. So much so, that we went back again the next night. Tonight’s experience was terrible. Nicole at Table 230 took our order and we never saw her again. No one asked if our food was OK. No one refilled our beverages. We had to search for a restaurant employee to get to go boxes and our check. Nicole practically threw our check at our table as she raced by and told us to pay by QR code. We were considering going to Quartino for our last night in town. But will not after this experience.

Great meal. Hosted a client dinner with 55 people. Atlas and Sam S really went above and beyond to make sure everyone was well taken care of!

Still great! We had dinner here over 10 years ago on a recommendation from a friend. It was so good we came back during the same trip. Last month we returned and it’s still a great meal. Food was fantastic and the service was as well. We had the shrimp with pasta, pizza, mushroom risotto, wild arugula salad, pappardelle. Everything was delicious. Pasta came piping hot. Salads were very fresh.

Absolutely fantastic find only minutes from our hotel. We only found this restaurant on our last day, and just sorry we hadn't visited it sooner. Fantastic food, fresh and full of flavour, very friendly and attentive service. Our servers name was Lulu, and she was absolutely brilliant and so friendly, with nothing being too much trouble for our group of 11. Would highly recommend this restaurant, and will definitely return next time we are in Chicago.

Went out of my way to eat here. While the server Emily was very attentive and the drinks were good, the food experience was not even close to good. The chicken soup was tasteless and the linguini con vongole a complete waste of jaw exercise. Giving this review 2 stars because the ceasar salad was fine. Perhaps Sunday offerings use lots of leftovers for their plating. Makes for lackluster food and experience.

This is a very popular restaurant on State Street in Chicago.... and rightly so! Vibrant atmosphere, attentive staff, great pizza and pasta dishes, alongside the chance to build your own charcuterie plate. Decent wine list. It is BUSY! Tables are close together and it's a high energy lively place. Great for high energy vibe, maybe not for a quiet date (they'll hear your sweet nothings at the next two tables!)

Not the greatest. Our server did not really know the menu. Burrata app was good, But that is the last good thing we had. All of the food seemed to focus on quantity over quality. Reminded me of one of those Bucca di Beppo type places. Strip steak was cooked to well done (ordered medium well). Tortellini tasted like the frozen out of package stuff. And we ordered one of their nicer bottles of wine, only to have it served in little juice glasses. Do understand the good reviews of this place.

Dinner for four on a Sunday. First visit. Not bad. Not great. Best things we had were the pizza (half funghi; half pep sausage) and the paparadelle with short rib sauce. The service was good but the place is in dire need of a face lift and they need to take the bus station out of the center of the restaurant. What a dumb idea. A C+/B- experience.

This restaurant had very good food. We had two pasta dishes, the pappardelle al sugo di manzo and spaghetti al pomodoro, both were delicious. Although the dish I requested was not prepared to my specifications, our server, LULU, promptly informed the kitchen of their error and my pasta returned as I requested. Lulu was very pleasant and helpful with items on the menu. I hope Lulu is our server when we next dine here again.

My husband and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary at Quartino. I wanted to spread the word and thank them personally for their hospitality great service and outstanding meal. We originally ordered take out and was so impressed that we wanted to go back to be celebrated at this quaint Italian restaurant. From our hostess, front of the house manager to our excellent server Brooklyn the night was extra special. Our Entrees came out steaming hot and very tasteful. Thank you again TEAM for making our milestone so very special. Also, I left a ring on table, and it was very quickly saved for us and recovered the same night hence honesty. Whenever we can return to Chicago, we for sure visit this Restaurant that makes you feel like you are at Momma's house. Chin Chin !

This place is one of my long time favorites. Been coming here for about 15 years. It’s hard to find consistency in a restaurant but Quartino’s nails it every time. Excellent food, atmosphere (very “come as you are”) and service. And speaking of service, Emily is very attentive and sweet. Great at connecting with her guests and anticipating needs.

Quartino Ristorante is an Italian restaurant that touches all the bases. From minestrone to imported spaghetti to Neapolitan pizza to profiteroles. Located at 626 North State Street, at Ontario, in Chicago's River North neighborhood, it features two levels with a wine bar and outdoor seating and a menu that includes pasta, pizza, risotto and seafood. Open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., Quartino Ristorante is a go-to destination for late-night diners after theater and sporting events. I started with bruschetta with roasted tomatoes, cow's milk ricotta, balsamic and micro basil, a bowl of minestrone and a Caesar salad with toasted breadcrumbs and red chili. For an entree, I chose imported spaghetti with organic tomatoes, Italian basil, pomodoro sauce and meatballs. For dessert, I couldn't resist Quartino's profiteroles, which are regarded among the best in the city. The blend of cream puffs, vanilla gelato, chocolate sauce and toasted almonds is delicious.

The most delicious Italian food we have ever had! We like to eat Italian in every city we go to and this was top notch. You can tell the noodles are homemade and the ingredients are fresh. The atmosphere is beautiful and wait staff was amazing!

Quartino is our home away from home. Super fun restaurant with a great vibe. The menu has something for everyone and the food and drinks are terrific. But Latoya, the great Quartino server, makes it all very special. Always has a warm smile and a delightful way of engaging the table. She’s outstanding. She makes a great restaurant even better.

I came here last night at the recommendation of a family friend. It was our first time in Chicago, so we were excited to try the restaurants in the area. It was extremely busy, and we had to wait around 30 minutes for a table for four, which was understandable as we did not make a reservation. However, when we were sitting, a manager who we later found out was called Brock came over to check on us and was rude with a bad attitude. We asked him to check on our food because it was taking a long time, and he was very condescending about how he informed us when everything would come out. He then left and never came back. We felt very dismissed and unimportant in general. As someone who works in food service, it should be a priority to make the experience great for customers. We did not have an issue with our waitress or the food. I know that there were many people in the restaurant; yet, regardless of how busy I am when I am working, I still aim to prioritize the experience of my customers. This manager needs to be spoken to about his tone and performance.

The pizza was amazing with a crust not too thick. There is olive oil and balsamic at the table for dipping. The Baratta salad was the best I’ve had. The cherry tomatoes are roasted and marinated served with toasted baguette slices. Terra our server was very good and knowledgeable. The restaurant vibe is so cool and very Italian.

Lovely evening here - we had a leisurely dinner (which isn’t often said in America) and the ambiance was lovely. Service was also great, attentive but not rushed.

really iralisn food pasta made in house along with many other things like fresh ricotta and meatballs. both fantastic. the different risotto dishes were great. different gravy sauces that are good also good wine choices at different price points. the atmosphere is authentic and an old Italian look. good outdoor seating as well. you cant go wrong here.

Some restaurants seem to just be printing money. :-) This place is packed with a waiting list constantly and the upper and lower floors hold a tremendous amount of people. The hosts were great, the waitress was lovely, the food however was just okay. The beet salad was bland, The meatballs nondescript, the salumi salad was overdressed iceberg lettuce. Even the tiramsu was meh. There are so many good Italian restaurants in this town, that while this one is a tremendous value and a lively fun place, It makes it a good place for a drink and a little snack, not a memorable meal. Or maybe if you just find your dish, it would be okay.

Freshly made pasta was the star. We tried four of the options. All were excellent! The service was friendly and efficient. The prices were reasonable. The liter of wine was an exceptional value. Caution--the place is frenetic, and loud. Don't expect a quiet place to have dinner. Tables are tightly packed. There is a constant din of noise that requires an escalated volume of conversation, hence contributing to the noise level. I suggest an outside table, surprisingly, for a more relaxed environment. My only frustration--we were seated at 7:30 for a 7PM reservation. As my son suggested, why bother taking reservations if they aren't honored? It prevents a fifth star.

Wonderful experience! Terra was a great server who enthusiastically walked us thorough our experience! Sausage, pizza, calamari was incredible. Very reasonably priced as well!!!!

Each bite is a fleeting pleasure, vanishing as quickly as it exists, leaving behind only the memory of its perfection. Then there is Lulu, our guide through this brief, beautiful interlude. Her service is seamless, intuitive—almost clairvoyant. She anticipates needs before they arise, a steady presence in the chaotic impermanence of a crowded dining room. If meaning can be found in the small gestures, a refilled glass or a perfectly timed recommendation, then perhaps it is here, in the ephemeral dance of a well-run meal. The wine flows, the chatter hums, and for a little while, nothing else matters. When we step back into the indifferent night, the world remains unchanged—but for a brief, shining moment, Quartino’s made it feel otherwise.

Food was good and Drew was an amazing server!! Had the tiramisu and donuts for dessert which were AMAZING! Came with a large group of friends and we had a blast. Fun and lively environment :)

Last time I ate at Quartino was in 2021 (if I recall correctly), and being in Chicago in 2025, I decided to revisit. This time wasn’t as impressive as the first, but I still enjoyed myself. The bread arrived colder than expected, and instead of being delivered a plate of olive oil and balsamic along with the bread, diners need to pour it themselves—such a first-world problem, but something I noticed that would elevate things even higher. Same with the pizza, since the parmesan (still high-quality) is in a plastic container already on the table instead of freshly grated by the server in a classier fashion. These little things are all aspects I don’t recall experiencing the first visit I made, and they slightly degraded my outlook. The pizza was wonderful in flavor and quality, complemented perfectly with pepper and mild spices. It was a generous size for the downtown-Chicago-level price I paid. However, I was a bit disappointed by how basic the crust felt. With friendly service, a convenient location on State Street close to Michigan Avenue, and trusted high-quality Italian fare, Quartino remains a destination for eating in the Windy City!

Location was great! We walked from our hotel just off of Michigan Ave. The staff was fantastic from the hostess, waiter and support staff. The waiter was accommodating with my allergy questions. He explained the menu to both of us. They had small plates, family style options great Charcuterie boards. He brought us samples of wine before we ordered a craft. My husband said his meal was one of the best he ever had.

Our family enjoyed another amazing meal at Quartinos. This is one of our favorite restaurants because of the tasty Italian food, great staff and high energy of the patrons. This time our server, Terra, gave us superior service and worked very hard to make sure all of us got exactly what we wanted. What a great time!

Everything about this place is great minus the noise level in the restaurant and how tightly placed the tables are together. The food and service were exceptional! Our server’s name was Hannah. And talk about an amazing server. She came to our table with a huge beautiful smile and her personality was amazing. The prices are so reasonable for high quality food. We’ll definitely be back.

It was the absolutely the BEST tortellini I’ve had in a long time! Hubby had the linguini with white clam sauce and said it was awesome. We sat outside on the patio and the service was spot on. Waiter recommended the perfect wine. Definitely will return on our next visit to Chicago!

Four of us dined here in May 2025. Our server, Rene, was fantastic, although once we received our meals, we were confused by his statement that "our food portions are quite large, so we recommend sharing." On the contrary, fyi, the portions are quite reasonable for one person. The atmosphere was lively and loud, so if you're not keen on having to lean towards your friends or family or speak a bit loudly, I would not advise coming here when it's busy. At the heart of it, sadly, the food quality was so-so. We ordered the Bruschetta, where the grape tomatoes were super cold and whole, which made it slightly awkward to eat. My wife enjoyed her Pappardelle al sugo di Manzo. My Gnocchi was all right, but I wish it had more herbal seasoning to add complexity to the flavors. The Penne alla Vodka, which was recommended by the server, was flavorful, but the pasta was overcooked, i.e., not al dente. For what it's worth, our dessert - Torta al Choccolato - was quite tasty! If I come back, I'll focus on their pizzas, hoping they're better than some of the pastas. Note: Vegetarian items are *not* clearly marked in their menu, but there are a few options from which you can choose.

Flight was late getting into Chicago, then the ride from the airport to downtown hotel took 30-40 minutes with traffic. Wondering what we would find available to eat after 9:30pm. Well, luck would have it, just down from our hotel, Quartino family-style restaurant. They had a great crowd! I'm not Italian, but my family sounds like this when we all get together in the same kitchen/dining area. The hostess ushered us right in and found us the perfect table in the middle of the main dining area. Wine was ordered, and the server brought us a loaf of fresh baked Italian bread with EVOO and balsamic on the table. Just what the doctor ordered! We did not go wrong with the selection of a few small plates to share. What an awesome treat and experience. Only in Chicago for 3 nights/4 days and yes, we went back to enjoy again!

Ate here 3 times on a weekend and the food and service was outstanding. Perfect for light or in between meals. Small plates and half orders of pastas are perfect for sharing. Our waiters couldn’t have been more accommodating. We did carry out for two half orders of pasta that 3 of us shared. They packaged 3 servings of bread each with a tiny container of oil and another of cheese. Just amazing! Fettuccine Alfredo was the best I’ve ever had. The small plate meatballs should not be missed. We will be back.

Delicious authentic Italian Restaurant. Food portions were perfect not too much and little to share and few choices the waitress Georgia was so nice and helpful since it was our 1st time.

Everything was excellent! I came from out of town for my daughter’s birthday and she wanted our group to go to her favorite restaurant, and this was it. All of the food we were served was delicious, service and ambience was excellent! Cliff took very good care of us and was very attentive and friendly. He helped make my daughter’s birthday extra special, even on a super busy night. We will definitely be back!

We had a group event full of out of town guests. The staff was amazing and the food was spectacular. We were able to enjoy a private room next to the bar which exceeded our needs.

Booked this restaurant on recommendation. It certainly lived up to expectations. Thanks to Cliff and Drew our fab waiters who were so attentive and gave us great advice on menu choices. We really enjoyed the option to order half portions so were able to share small bites of multiple dishes. We opted for several different pasta dishes and they were all delicious and great value as well . We would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are visiting Chicago.

Shrimp diablo wasn’t my fav. Very busy, super fun vibes. There was a fun italian movie playing, attentive service, cool bathrooms. INCREDIBLE TIRAMISU and desserts in general.

With a reservation, we were seated promptly; without one, however, expect a lengthy wait, as the house is nearly always bustling, particularly during dinner service. The menu revolves around small-plate Italian fare, a convivial format that encourages sharing and sampling across the table. Most dishes are executed with satisfying confidence, delivering rustic flavors with just enough refinement to elevate them beyond the ordinary. The wine program, true to Italian tradition, is casual and charmingly unpretentious—served in tumblers, inviting a sense of ease and conviviality that suits the atmosphere perfectly. That atmosphere, however, comes with a caveat: conversation is nearly impossible to sustain. Whether dining as a pair or part of a larger group, one must accept that the energetic din is part of the restaurant’s character—a feature as much as a flaw, depending on one’s tolerance for noise. Service on this visit was a study in contrasts. While management was attentive and our table well accommodated, the front-line servers appeared undertrained. It was a late Thursday night—our very first evening exploring the Near North Side of Downtown Chicago—and even without a reservation, the hostess welcomed us and seated us right away. What an excellent find! The food was so fresh and delicious! You can truly taste the difference from other Italian restaurants! It was so fresh! After we ate, we weren’t full and lethargic like a lot of Italian restaurants. This is the real deal! Our teenage son even loved it and he is pretty picky. Michelle, who was our waitress was on point! She explained everything perfect and suggested pretty much everything we ate. Do yourself a favor and ask for Michelle to be your waitress! It will make your experience even better! One of the best waitresses, I think we’ve ever had and we go out a lot to eat! We ate outside around 6 PM in August and the weather was actually great! We loved it so much that we are going back tomorrow and bringing some friends!

The first time I came here it was one of the best nights I’ve had with my girlfriends, the service (from Terra), the food, the atmosphere, everything was great! My boyfriend and I were in the city tonight so I had to bring him to Quartino, we actually had the same server as I did last time, Terra! It was the same great food and service as always. We can’t wait to come back!!

This is a good place for reasonably priced food and drinks, The pizza , various pastas and calamari were all hits. In addition to wine by the bottle, customers can choose 3 different sizes of wine by the glass. The smallest pour is almost two normal glasses. Service is excellent from all staff beginning with the front desk, server. and other positions. Gibson properties are always well managed and deliver good value .

We ordered the Caesar salad, fettuccine Alfredo and chicken parmigiana. The food was good. Just be aware that they bring out the food as it is ready. We got our salad and fettuccine together. We would have preferred to have the pasta served with the chicken. Also keep in mind that they encourage sharing. The service was good.
