My wife and I ate here and were very disappointed. We returned the toro as it was completely inedible (full of tendons and literally tough). All of the other dishes seemed bland. I have never been to a sushi restaurant where you had to ask for wasabi and ginger with you rolls. If your looking for quality sushi, go elsewhere. Try Japaneros in sugar land.

Definitely on my top 3 sushi restaurants in Houston. The Crazy Money and Viva Las Vegas rolls are excellent. Salmon sashime very fresh. Also a nice bar area.

Nice place with good food and cold beer. Staff was very nice and food was good. Food came quick and portions were very good size.

This is a nice sushi place although the sashimi was so-so. Price is on the high side. With just ice tea sushi and miso soup, it was about $80 for 2 people.

Cool atmosphere though at the end of the day it is still a chain

i love this place. Lunch specials are great drink specials are awesome. Great value for sushi and non sushi lovers

Very trendy atmosphere and crowded in the evening. The sushi is just delicious and french. The sushi rolls are very creative, I loved the lobster/mango maki with kiwi-wasabi sauce! I also was very impressed by the "skinny" cocktails!

This place never fails me the food is always good we ordered two kinds of sushi the ro ckin roll and VIVA Las Vegas and Hot Mess everything was super delicious the and the service was excellent

The sushi is excellent and the restaurant decor is really nice. Overall a great place to get your sushi fill!

Celebrated a friends bday. Awesome food and greasy drinks!! Energetic and fun atmosphere!! Recommend getting the Ra'ckin roll. So good!!

This is quite the disappointment. Let's start with the linty red napkins. I held it up to figure out if it was linty, dirty, or unusable. I settled on linty. But, should the dishes be dusty, too? How do black dishes attract that much dust and lint? I suspect they wash them without drying them and then they attract dust and lint that sticks to the edges. A plate should shine. The whole place needs a good wiping down. Too many other sushi places to try even if Highland Village is convenient.

With its loud music, somewhat garish decor and multitude of empty tables, this restaurant is a bit dispiriting. There are some pretty good dishes here, but they're mixed in with a fair number of mediocre ones. Service can be spotty.

sushi was ok, i've had better. ambiance was chill, i was diggin the music.

Only good for their happy hour.

This was a great spot! The rolls were super yummy and our server was super sweet and helpful. She helped us pick out the best rolls and made our experience special.

very nice

This has a loud atmosphere, so don't go expecting a quiet evening. I enjoyed the food, and I personally enjoy the music, trendy decor that it offers. Quality dishes, with a good menu selection.

Best sushi, great music, friendly service. The raw sushi is great too but this is also a good place for friends who are a little squeamish about sushi. I come here every chance I get. This is a chain with a few restaurants across the US. I recommend the Hot Mess, the Viva Las Vegas roll, the spicy lobster roll, and the coconut creme brûlée but really there are just SO many good choices here! TIP: there are lunch prices before 3pm and happy hour prices after 4pm so when you go at 3:15 it can feel a little frustrating missing out on the deals but we love it enough to go when we can! If you can sit by the big windows you may enjoy the view--nothing spectacular but pleasant enough.

I visited Ra during happy hour and took full advantage of it. I went with a couple of Ra regulars, who ordered exceptional items, though I can't recall exactly the items' names. The most important info, however, is that the flavors were exceptional, the preparation beautifully done, and it was absolutely delicious. Will plan to return next time I'm in Houston.

If you don't like sushi- this is the place to go. If you do like sushi - this is the place to go. Excellent doesn't describe it. Order the Miso Hot soup. Over the top delicious. Music can be too loud at times - so don't take the elderly in laws there. Enjoyed the bento box and sushi assortment at lunch.

This place feels more like a bar than a restaurant, and perhaps it is. Very young crowd, very loud EDM music, very dark - maybe I am too old for this. The food was all good, nothing to complain about, but I think I can get as good of rolls at the supermarket. Other items were good, but again not special. The service was confusing. Some dishes arrived early while others were very late (and perhaps that is by design?). In Houston, I would try elsewhere for sushi, but if you are young, like loud EDM music, and want a bar-like atmosphere, this may be your place.

Our party of six were delighted with the quality of the food served. Our starters of miso soup, agedashitofu, chicken skewers and beef skewers were nice. My sashimi salad was very good. All the raw food was super fresh. The sushi was beautifully presented and very good. We enjoyed a shared coconut creme brûlée for desert. Overall we appreciated the attention to detail which made every plate as pleasing to the eye as it was to the taste buds 🙂 The service was very good also. We will be back for sure.

Like most, I went during the Happy Hour session. I enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and the service was decent considering we came during what seemed to be a shift change. I highly recommend sampling all the pieces within your overall meal budget. Everything is fresh. The only aspect that threw me off was that open patio-like concept on the cocktail side of the restaurant. If I didn't bring a jacket it would have taken away from the experience.

If you’re looking for a great California Roll this is the place, elegant ambience on a great location. Try the chicken udon soup!!! I recommend this restaurant

I like the ambiance there, so cool and relaxed! The sushi is pretty good. The customer service was great!

Do you know how you walk into a place and it smells like a sour towel? There was a faint scent of a sour towel in this location which was a little off-putting. My friend and I stayed and enjoyed Happy Hour at the bar area. The HH prices are good and the cucumber margarita was surprisingly good. I had a roll and edamame that were very good as well. The server was nice and friendly but he kept running his hands through his hair. That was also off putting. Anyway, I'm not sure I'll go to that location again but the sushi at RA is always good.

Is one of my favorite restaurants when I visit City Centre in Houston. Is a relaxing place with great food. My favorite is the Bento Box for lunch, you get soup, salad, rice, and the meat of your preference for jus 8 or 9 dollars.

If you enjoy swanky, trendy spots than this your place. I do not, so I was annoyed by the garish red lighting and the annoying, incredibly loud crappy music being played by a "DJ" by the bar. I'm talking Stevie Wonder and the Jackson 5 played at full volume. The service was great though, drinks are overpriced though. The crowd is 20's-30's, dressed to the nines. I only went for drinks, but the sushi looked decent. Typical chain fare. If your into trendy-this is your spot. I prefer an eclectic dive bar with a killer jukebox.

Fun, creative, a dance club w/sushi.

They have many traditional items on the menu, but also many unique and interesting variations as well. The clam udon was good. The prices are not unreasonable considering the location and the quality/quantity. Service was excellent. Parking can be a bit tight, but there is valet.

Nice Ambience! Great Drinks, Crowd & Decent Sushi

They have great lunch specials with a lot of food for the price. The spicy tuna bowl is my favorite and it comes with ra sushi and rice and vegetables. It is like having a roll in a bowl version, like chipolte style. :-) They also have really good bento box's that come salad, soup and a lot of food for the price too! Very yummy. The roll that they are known for and that everyone loves, including me, is the Viva Las Vegas roll, it is very large, and filling. Our office team just had lunch catered from them and it was fresh and very delicious! They are a little pricier than other establishments, but the atmosphere is awesome and when you are there it has great music and service.

Very good food and atmosphere. Went there twice, for dinner and lunch, and loved it. Sashimi is very fresh and tasty, as well as sushi, soup and spring rolls. Price is good, specially for lunch.

Nice place, nice music, very fresh and good food! This is the place to be if you want to eat japanese food. They have a good choice of meals and they are very keen on proposing new favorites! It is easy to find on Westheimer, and the place is really cool. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I will go back!

A permanent sushi restaurant in my list of best of the best. Always fresh!

Dont miss this restaurant, great sushi in town!!! We've ordered 7 different rolls and everything was great! My daughter favourite place in town! Very pleasant atmosphere, drinks are quite good too!

I went to a sushi class in the Ra Sushi located at the center of Houston (not the one of City Centre, although I strongly reccomend eating there too). It was around 20 people, we had appetizers and drinks (drinks to be paid) and the class was in tables in U mode, so all could see the sushi man. It wasn't about cutting fish (it's the hardest part), but knowing how to roll, how much rice to put, how to cut... We could eat all we did, take home some stuff to help making it and at the end, for people that paid extra USD, a 5 small glasses of sake: hot, whiteish... very cool experience! And well, eating in Ra Sushi is very nice too. :)

Rolls are great. Atmosphere is outstanding

We have been here before, and always ok, this time it was very good- the food and service were terrific. our waiter who's name i can't remember told us to cal him" Michael Jackson" He was very good and lively, and very accomodating especially since it was our daughters graduation celebration.

Unimpressive sushi, too trendy.

Arrived at the hostess stand 6 minutes late after standing in the line outside the door for at least 4 minutes. Turned away without any empathy or consideration because of a "strict 5 minute cancellation policy". As regular patrons this was not how we expected to be treated and we will never support another Beni Hana establishment again and discourage all of our friends and acquaintances from doing the same. What was supposed to be a fun celebration turned into a disappointing evening by teenagers running the reception and an ungracious and self important manageress.

This place is awesome, great happy hour, great drinks, great staff. Some of the best sushi I've had. Everything is awesome on the menu. Branch out and try something new.

It was a rainy day and we were out at Highland Village. We were both hungry, so decided to try Ra. My wife and I have both been before, but for dinner. She got sushi and I had a chicken teriyaki bento box - both were excellent! Grab a table near the windows to the left of the bar as you walk in. We'll be back!

After a movie, granddaughter and I had a bite sitting at a table with view of lights along the road and activity below. Steps to get up to restaurant, can take an elevator. Fantastic variety of sushi, drinks and tempura pea pods were delicious. Great atmosphere, very upbeat, friendly, great staff. Would highly recommend.

Boooo

First time visitor. Ordered veggie tempura and edamame to start, followed by an assortment of sushi, sashimi and rolls. My starters came out last, one order came out wrong and one order didn't come out at all. The waiter blamed the kitchen staff, but maybe if he had written down the order instead of trying to memorize it, the orders may have been right. The atmosphere was good, the food was tasty. May be worth another visit hoping this first time was a major service fluke.

I love RA Sushi. Never been to the Westheimer now but I have been to the City Centre one acouple times this year already Its located on the 2nd floor so you get a good view of City Centre shops/restaurants. You can sit outside or inside. Great environment, nice decor and clean. Love the patio outside they have HH from 3-7 Mon-Sat (not sure about Sunday). Drinks are good.. I have tried several, I love the baby umami punch I drink 3 of those and have a really good buzz. If you have more than 3 people at your table I recommend the big punch bowl. My favorite sushi so far that I have tried are the the Las Vegas Rolls and Calamari rolls. You have to try the Coconut Crème brulee is amazing!! You won't regret it! Food comes out pretty fast they bring is out as they make. Waiters are good, never had slow service yet. It does tend to get full so we always get there right when HH starts about 4pm to avoid the wait.

Good atmosphere and hip environment.

The sushi was very good. Service was chirpy and good. No complaints.

With all the acclaimed Japanese restaurants in Houston, I would not go to this place for an authentic Sushi/Sashimi experience. I am not a fan of fusion type chain restaurants especially when it comes to any type of Asian food. Since I was invited by others, I had no choice but give it a try. We ordered several different Sashimi items such as Tako (Octopus), Hamachi (Yellowtail), Salmon (Sake), And Tuna Belly (Toro). For rolls we ordered the Mango Lobster Roll, Viva Las Vegas Roll, and Chili Shrimp Roll. To my surprise, the food was quite good. Everything was fresh and the portions were quite generous. Nothing was budget busting expensive. I didn't need to take out a mortgage to eat here! Atmosphere was trendy. Service was decent. I would recommend this place if you are looking for a fun casual place to hang out with coworkers and friends. If you are looking for fine dining, go elsewhere. I had a very good time. It was definitely better than I expected. My only complaint was that it was very warm in the bar area with the windows open. But aside from that, it was a fun night out.

Loved the atmosphere. We ordered quite alot of sushi and all the dishes were good. It was fresh and mostly flavorful.

I lucked up on this superb sushi spot actually looking for another location that was closed on Westheimer... so my husband and I arrived at RA Sushi pretty late... to our surprise the menu was still being served...our waitress was well informed on the different sushi types that were available... and even convinced my husband to try a sake bomb... I was very pleased with the overall sushi variety, presentation, value and most importantly taste... very impressed... I would definitely return for another visit.. memorable and enjoyable experience..

this place had a nice view, our service was good and quick and recommended some good things. Love to stop in to Ra restaurants when ever I see them it is nice to know that the menu and taste is consistent.

Went here for dinner last Saturday night with my boyfriend. We had actually been looking for the Benihana, which has now been replaced by Ra (someone tell GoogleMaps). We thought we'd try it, loving sushi. An immediate turnoff was the parking. They share the parking lot with the giant Crate & Barrel & other stores but blocked off anything right in front of the restaurant to the Valet. There were easily ten empty spots with cones in them at 8pm. Tell me who sees the value in paying for a guy to park your car 3 feet from where you got out of it? They did not need that many reserved spaces. It definitely had the Saturday night atmosphere - the music was more "dance club" then "fine dining". Up front sat a bachelorette party in full neon wigs, so that event will fit in just fine if that's what you're looking for. We were seated immediately, which was a nice surprise. Our waiter was very nice - good looking too - but clearly something wasn't connecting. He ordered the wrong teriyaki entree for my boyfriend (on the plus side, we took home boxes for both) and one of my rolls did not come out forever...when I asked about it the second time, he brought me the one I already had. He also asked me if I wanted a second glass of wine, but then had to be reminded about it. Perhaps a different, less busy night of the week? Good food, mediocre service. Might go back if I am in the area and have already tried the other nearby sushi restaurants to equivalent review.

We stopped by early friday night for some drinks and it turned out to be a pretty hot spot during happy hour friday night. The drinks were good and i would recommend going back.

At this place i ate the best sushi in my life! great presentation and perfect taste! highly recommended.

Been to both locations of Ra in Houston and everything is consistent. Sushi is good but not great. Service is ok, nothing spectacular and atmosphere is trendy and always a great place to people watch. No real complaints, cool place to grab a drink and get couple of good rolls. Have to get the Las Vegas roll, my favorite.

This place is like the Mona Lisa. Sounds great, looks great, but when you get close and involved it's just an illusion. The ginger and wasabi was good, but we had to ask to have that brought out with our sushi. Our sushi was "okay." It wasn't that special. I have paid less for more and more for less but was equally satisfied. The only good thing that I truly felt was delicious was the none sushi products lik their lobster spring rolls, or their garlic edamame, other than that the sushi has been better through a fast food stop and shop gas station.

Ra Sushi is located upstairs on the North side of Houston’s upscale Highland Village shopping area. The food is good but nothing special. The setting is pretty spectacular. There’s a grand entrance with a spiral staircase leading to the reception area and dining room looking out over Highland Village. There are better sushi places in Houston but the room is pretty cool. We preferred our sashimi appetizers, shishito peppers, and lobster rolls to the sushi (nigiri and rolls). Service was laughably poor with an ever changing cast of waitstaff presenting us food we didn’t order and forgetting what we did. It was a fairly reasonable dinner economically though and everyone had a great time. Cool room, nice setting, OK sushi, overmatched but nice staff

This is the second time we've been here and we were surprised the service was so bad. We had a waiter who seemed nice enough but it was hard to get his attention if we needed something. We had a party of six and food would come out at random times. One appetizer was delivered as we were almost done which we found totally unacceptable. Food also seemed overpriced.Next time we're in town we won't go back

JUST OK

At the time we arrive the only open table was available was the sushi bar, it was very difficult to talk and share food when you are in a straight line. I asked our waiter if there was any way to put us in the next free table. Within seconds she lead us to the most clean table i have seen in ages. even thought the restaurant was very busy she tried her best to always try and serve us. the food was amazing and the green tea ice cream I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! over all great experience, recommend for good sushi and for a good atmosphere.

I was expecting good sushi, but was underwhelmed by this eating experience. The service was slow and inattentive. The food was ok, but nothing more than that. The rolls were ok, the nigiri was bland and the sashimi was horrible. The ambiance is a bit pretentious, but I guess it caters to that type of crowd. For what I'm getting, I might as well get HEB sushi.

Great happy hour place!

My wife and I have been coming here for years. Some changes of course but still highly recommended. Big plus when the weather is good because it is one floor up and looks over the classic Westheimer Road. They open up all the windows so the ambience is fantastic as you can see from my pic.Happy hour starts at 3pm till close and gets a little busy. Order the Vegas Roll and the pork buns with a beer and you are set!!

Good atmosphere/environment. Service very slow.

We went for an early lunch and we're pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and beautifully prepared food. The service was excellent as well. Parking was a challenge as there were numerous spots blocked off for optional complementary valet parking. However, will be back when visiting Houston again.

The food was as good as ever but the music was much too loud for our business meeting. We really had to shout at each other to be heard.

good place to hang out

Chloe was our waitress, excellent and attentive, the sushi was good as well as the location, pending a Friday afternoon visit soon!

Stopped after reading menu on window. Walked up long flight of stairs (there is an elevator). Service was initially very good - drink and soup arrived quickly. Food took a while but was worth it. Wife and I opted for lunch bowls. Mine was Ginger/chicken and was excellent. Wife had shrimp. We ate for less than eating at McD's. A bargain and really good food. We'll go back

Unique sushi. The appetizers of shrimp and wings was really great and tasteful. The shrimp soup was worth sharing. You have to ask for the ginger and Wasabi since not included in the sushi plates. Great ambience

Pricey, but their rolls are great. Atmosphere is outstanding

All the RA Sushi's come off to me as "higher end" sushi places with great atmosphere and environment. The RA sushi's that I've been to in Houston have always been packed, crowded, and filled with people just having a good time in general. They have good happy hour specials for their food and drinks. The food is always tasty and I yet to receive bad service there. All in all, great place for sushi and drinks!!!

Our waiter was attentive from start to finish. He inquired about any specific preferences and suggested several options. The drinks were great! We ate several sushi rolls (variety) with amazing taste. The nigiri was fresh and flavorful. We spent the entire time enjoying the drinks and food with a big smile. Can't wait to go back and enjoy the food and relax ambience.

If you're looking for a last minute table for sushi, this may be your place. We couldn't get a table at our favorite place in Sugar Land on Saturday night, but had no problem at Ra and in hindsight there's a good reason. The food was ok, service was good but the kitchen was very slow. I'll definitely move on to another sushi bar and not return. The valet blocked off all available parking, though they're complimentary / tip only.

Nice location, nice decor, good for lunch because it is huge and not crowded.selection of sushi is very good and prices are good too.

Walking into the restaurant you'll take an elevator up to the restaurant, nice touch. The restaurant is warm and stylish and waitresses and waiters were right on time with our first drink and throughout the evening. There is a new menu and you'll want to try a little of everything. I'll miss the happy hour shrimp tacos but a lot of thought went into having a great variety to choose from.

I had previously been to the outlet in Las Vegas - and this was equally good and consistent in quality. Great sushi rolls. Service very good. Prices reasonable. I would definitely come back.

Heard about their best happy hour, the place was very lively with lot of people . The waitstaff are so helpful and eager to help you refill water and drink. We order a few items from the happy hour menu and it was very good, fresh and very pretty presentation. The calamari tempura was so big, crunchy and taste very fresh, we have to order extra because everyone in our party loved it. Definitely come back again for lunch and try their bento boxes.

Great service and food selection. Server helped by asking about our taste for various delicacies. It was happy hour, accented with a tantalizing tropical drink

I have been here twice and can't get enough. Rock n Roll and vegas rolls are must to have also most of the baked rolls are delicious too.

Love the atmosphere

Everyone raves about RA, so I thought I would give it a try. If you know absolutely nothing about sushi and love being in a vibrant atmosphere then you will love RA. If you have a working knowledge of sushi and want to hang out with friends in cool décor, than you will like RA. If you really understand sushi and tradition, know how it was meant to be prepared and served then you will be completely appalled. I fall in the latter group. Nothing about it is real sushi. It is mass produced and put on a plate and pretends to be upscale sushi. The atmosphere rocks, slick décor, music the buzz of the popular crowd fills the air. The food however is sub par. My son and I tried an array of dishes and appetizers, rolls, and other things. Service was wonderfully attentive and friendly but completely uneducated about what was on the menu. I know the waitress knew what it said, but she had no idea what it was, what it was supposed to look like etc. The food was awful. But again if you have no clue about sushi you will be okay. It was drowned, limp, uninspiring, over flavored, and some things had no business being on a plate together. Even my son who will eat just about anything was unimpressed and didn't finish his food. I am still not convinced that the "lobster" in my lobster roll was not fake crab salad. My son thinks they served me the wrong dish but the bubbly waitress assured me, it was lobster. Really? But if you like to hang with the cool kids in a slick setting, visit RA. Just go for drinks.

I eat at RA Sushi 1-2 times a week. For a chain they have good sushi at a reasonable price. One of my favorite dishes that is a little different is the tuna tataki. Its seared Ahi in an onion marinade that really accentuates the flavor of the tuna.

We had dinner for 2 consequtive nights here. We are Malaysians and are already exposed to a wide range of food types and was kind of expecting the regular Japanese food that we could find back home. Boy, were we blown away by this restaurant! We could eat here everyday... The tuna salad was light and refreshing, with a generous portion of tuna and avocados. A must-try is the Asian Tacos. Imagine the regular mexican tacos, but the shell is made of rice flour instead. So, it's lighter. We tried the salmon tacos and white fish tacos. Out of this world. However, we thought their sushi is nothing special. It's just ok.

This was my first trip to RA and I was instantly impressed with the atmosphere of the restaurant and bar area...I mean it has a great view of Central Market! The bar staff were cheerful and friendly and did a good job of fighting through all the people throwing requests their way. The people at the bar were friendly and it was a comfortable atmosphere even though it was packed. The sushi was very good (I am not a sushi snob though), and the presentation was nice. However, the service was poor as she refused to come back around and take care of drink order or setting requests. It was a Saturday night and it was late, but for Westheimer in Houston, you shouldn't have this problem.

While at the galleria doing some Christmas shopping we saw the stainllees steel face of Ra and then decided to grab a bite to eat. The long stairway up is pretty dramatic and the dance club vibe does put you in a favorable mood to enjoy yourself. Sad to say, the food was not up to the atmosphere with the spicy Asian taco too full of mayonnaise and the various maki rolls tasting like store bought concoctions

Nice food, good atmosphere! great location... houston city neter... Music is nice (a bit loud) but still nice

Horrible sushi, even worse service.

Ra is very slick, very sleek. Really good selection of sushi and sushi rolls, excellent service, vibrant atmosphere in the evening. Reasonable prices for high quality product. It's a cool place to be and be seen. Be warned - self parking is terrible.

Good sushi, music and a view. A lot of different sushi! Hope I will go there again. You can take a walk near Ra (if you like to walk as I do :))

Very nice looking place...service was excellent. The "special" house rolls were not very special. The regular sushi (Nagiri and Maki)was good but the hand rolls were lacking.

I've gone a couple times to RA for their lunch specials. They have a lot of lunch options to choose from: sushi, bento boxes, etc. Fast service too.

Great Sushi and good drinks. I love to go and hang out here there is always a lot of people but they can keep up with everybody.

Go to Miyako down the street, Sushi King or Sage 400. Not very fresh fish here.

i was meeting a former co worker as i was passing through town. We decided to go to RA for a meeting and lunch. we were there about 1 pm. the place was quiet but nice. the location is very good. just down from Westheimer hotels. it made it very easy. the service was good and prompt. the waiter had good suggestions about the food and the various meal combinations. the food arrived quickly and was good. the service was much better. we had a chance to have our meeting and some good food and be out in less than an hour. worked out well. i am told at nights it is busy. good to know. i would recommend this place. it serves its purpose exactly.

Went to RA Sushi Bar Restaurant in their City Centre location found on 799 Town & Country Blvd. Not sure why is not coming up here. But they do have 2 locations. Any how, had a wonderful experience, great ambience in the outside balcony, but in the inside the music was a bit too loud and made it uncomfortable to talk with anyone on your own table. The food was excellent and the portions fair. Despite how busy they were the food was served pretty quick. Will definitely go back!

Cool ambience; food is mediocre.

This restaurant definitely looks cool and has a good atmosphere. I went in there for something quick to eat on a weekday night around 8pm. The chap on reception kept us waiting for several minutes as he was talking to someone on the phone. This was not the best start. The waitress assigned to us was very attentive and once we had ordered fairly swift. The food was ok but not what I would consider good. In particular the sushi rolls were very sloppy and falling apart as you tried to eat them with the chop sticks. There was nothing else from the mixture that we ordered that stood out and made its mark. I would not go there again, until I have attempted to find some where better - which I am sure there is in Houston.

The sushi is pretty good at both locations. The downside is that RA (both locations) is not a place to "just grab some sushi!" They have more of a club feel and wait times that can easily exceed an hour... or two!

ok so maybe my humor isn't funny but this place was great, the food was fresh, service 5 star and the happy hour was spot on. crowded so arrive early but always worth the wait. i will be back

We ate there monday night and loved everything with exception of the Wasabi Tobiko (AKA HBombs). With the wasabi tobiko I was expecting my head to feel like it was going to blow up and it was really weak even with adding wasabi to the soy I dipped it in but the reast of the order was really great. They have all of the nigiri that we love and some great combination rolls.

Since we were in the area we decided to stop for sushi at RA. There was a wait upon arrival, which was fine. The hostess looked tired and was less than pleasant we interrupted with our arrival. We were finally sat at a table and it took our waitress a very long time to actually get to our table. We went ahead and ordered dinner with our drink order. The miso soup was cold! The sushi was not made with fresh ingredients. The best item we received was the hot, white rice. And would you believe they only have 4 red wines on the entire menu! (Per our waitress). Only 1 champagne available and it must be purchased by the bottle! Service was poor! Food was mediocre! Drinks were very limited and the place can use a deep cleaning! I will not return here again!

Coming to the restaurant, the "complimentary" valet service is nice considering the parking lot was very full. Going inside didn't get much better we waited for a good while before getting seated. The service was good considering the number of people. The food was ... Excellent. We had three of their signature rolls and each one was better than the next. Regardless of the wait I will definitely be back.

I love the shishito peppers. Try them they re amazing. Got my friend addicted to them as well. The sushi is good but nothing that stands out. Atmosphere is nice especailly on the patio for a small group.

Great Happy hour priced food but it was loud

Their spicy scallop roll is amazingly good! My friend and I went during lunch time and we decided to have their watermelon martinis which were do tasty! Every roll that we ordered was mouthwatering. The staff was very friendly and very knowledgeable of their menu so she quickly recommended a few rolls for us to try. I would definitely go back!

This is the second time I’ve wrote about this place, just can’t help myself, I love the happy hour menu items and travel about 40 minutes to enjoy them. I was fortunate to get an old order no longer on the menu. This place is by far some of the best sushi I’ve ever had.

I love the sushi here. I also love the presentation. Great staff! I like to try something new every time. I've never been disappointed.

We weren't sure where to go for Sushi because one of our group was a non sushi eater. We ended up picking here because they have a nice assortment of salads. The Lobster Salmon roll was so delicious! Fun atmosphere. Good menu.

This restaurant was hip and trendy when it opened, but like many, once the novelty wore off, it’s just mediocre. Some dishes are better than others, but most are nothing special. Service was sporadic at best.

As other reviewers have stated it seems like a bit more of a club feel than restaurant. There is loud club-type music playing, a large centralized bar, and a very open seating area. We did not experience long wait times at all. We went during happy hour when they have a half price sushi menu and were seated as soon as we arrived. Parking however can be difficult at times and I do recommend the valet parking they offer. let me preface this with the fact that we eat a lot of sushi. I REALLY liked how many unique menu items there were. A chips and salsa app that has a tuna (i think it was tuna, could have been salmon, I don't remember what the menu said) tartar type dip instead of salsa. It was great. The rolls were very good. The items that are categorized as rolls are awesome too. We had one that was a tuna tartar on top of a ball of deep fried rice, very unique and delicious. The fish all tasted very fresh. The only downside I found was that where normal rolls come as like 8-12 slices the dishes here are more like 4-6 pieces. Still very tasty though.

Been here twice when visiting Houston and love it, some staff better than others but food is great and will be back!

The ambiance is great. Very hip and chic and the Vegas Rolls are not only artistic, but they also come in generous portions and very tasty.

Went to Ra with a bachelorette party and will preface this with the understanding that I know it's hard for restaurants to deal with big groups, especially on a Saturday night. BUT we had called ahead many times to try to plan the night, they don't take reservations but we were repeatedly assured that we would be taken care of and even called everyone to move up the time as their suggestion to make it easier to get a table and made sure the right number of people were there early to get the percentage to sit a table and everything. But when we arrived the staff completely forgot about us and wasn't until we had to take matters into our hands that we even got seated at the bar and order and THEN we found out that we could've booked a special "bachelorette" dinner with a prix fixe menu and had a reserved table. Something the staff could've told us one of the four times we had called them in the preceding month... Overall great food and drinks and a really neat space but the staff did not live up to their promises and failed to make up for it.

Very popular eatery in the galleria of Houston. Fairly young crowd 30ish and at the time we were they it was pretty loud. Wasn't fully peak as we went about 6:30/7. Fooed selection was good and different with a different combinations of sushi and what we has was good. I'm basic sushi so it was good but next time I'll stick to the fundamentals. Service was good though he did disappear A few times. I would recommend you try it, it's a nice experience and nice atmosphere. Better with someone special to share the experience.

Haven’t been here in years but decided to come here for drinks and sushi. The restaurant interior changed and feels more family friendly. Our waiter was consistent and helpful. The Sweet and Spicy Chilli wings used to be my favorite but this time they were drowned in sauce and this made the wings soggy. The Zonie Roll was good and the Sriracha with the Spicy Salmon was a tasty combo. The RA”CKIN’ ROLL was tasty but had too much Avocado. The BLAZIN’ DRAGON Margarita was very Good!!

My favote dish is the dinamite scalop! is just heaven in earth!

I went to RA with my husband and my friend who was visiting from out of town, on a Sunday night and we had a great time. The food was delicious and the prices were great. What a great way to end the week!

It is sooo disappointing! Great food, amazing happy hour but all that takes the back seat when you have to wave server down each time, not kidding, from please take my order to please bring me my cc copy so i can sign. At all times they were 3 -5 feet away. The staff was so involved with each other that they must of forgotten they were working. Management called me to verify what happened and that was that. Go to Uptown Sushi around the corner by Post Oak and 610 @ Uptown Shopping Center for excellence in food, prices ($$-$$$...well worth it).

They have a great happy hour 6 days out of the week with 1/2 price sushi rolls and great drink specials. The staff is always nice, but it is VERY crowded on Fridays.

To say I love the sushi at RA is an understatement. They have a great selection with a good amount of creativity. I'm at RA about once a month, usually during happy hour. The service, however is steadily going downhill. The last time I was there we waited 30 minutes to order drinks. Another 30 minutes later I went to find the manager because no one had been by to deliver menus or take our order. Another 20 minutes went by for our server to finally show. I'd hate to see this downward cycle become the norm since the food is terrific and the prices aren't bad.

We had to grab a bite late, so we didn't want anything too heavy. Both the vegetable tempura and the avocado roll were excellent and the service was top-notch. The place was packed (Saturday night), but we didn't have to wait long for either a table or the food. For a popular restaurant in a popular location, the food was reasonably priced.

The Vegas roll and the lobster rolls (several have lobster) were great. The quality doesn't seem to be standard across the different locations as I've tried the Ra Sushi in Las Vegas and it was underwhelming. This location has good quality and service. Perhaps Vegas (on the strip) is a place where they don't rely on repeat customers so they don't need consistently high quality.

The sushi here is always fresh and if you check in online they give you free edamame! The service always seems to be a bit lacking, and the food comes out a bit slow. The Viva Las Vegas Roll is by far my absolute favorite. The prices are a little high especially since it takes a little more sushi to fill you up, but the happy hour prices are half which makes it the best time to go.

My husband loves this place because of their fresh sushi. I had a bad experience with sushi (not here) so I eat anything else but that. Every time I go there I have their salmon which is delicious. They have very good mix drinks and good beers my husband likes to mix with sake. Over the years the clientele and atmosphere has changed in this location. Now we have mostly gone during the day on weekends or weekdays and that helps with parking. One time they gave me a used fork (there were still food on it) but the manager quickly corrected that. Their service is inconsistent, sometimes it can be great sometimes so-so but their food is always great!

Wanted to check out their summer drink specials. I had the Coconut Mojito and the Key Lime Martini and my BF had the Orange Creamsicle thingie. All were really good. Our server was chipper and did a great job. Ordered light appetizers that we liked as well. The music was a wee bit loud for conversation, but not as bad as so many other Houston restaurants where you almost have to text your companion in order to have a conversation.

Nice place and very contemporary. Not impressively authentic but good enough for lunch. Like there Asahi beers on the patio and just enjoy the up beat ambiance. Very lively.

Love this place the sushi is well prepared and the service is very good. Parking is easy including a valet and the views are pretty nice. Only downside is they don't out much flair into the presentation

The Galleria location food did not seem as fresh as the Town & Country location. T&C has better quality but the parking is terrible.

Really noisy as restaurant opens into large bar area that fills up with singles on weekend nights. Sushi ok Big specialty rolls are an experience, almost overdone for true sushi likers

A good friend of mine took me to this special restaurant one night after a really long day. I am not very familiar with Houston and I happy that she was. RA Sushi Bar and Restaurant in Highland Village is absolutely breathtaking and totally transforms you to another culture, place and time. We had a "Liquid Dinner" for the evening which consisted of a delicious "Cucumber Rita". It was PERFECT! I plan to return and order food in the near future that will always include the Cucumber Rita. I hope you do the same! Bottoms up!

Sitting at the window in the sun is great.Food is not great sushi and very pricey.Wait staff is inattentive .

Overpriced, mediocre sushi and service, and very very LOUD.

Good, dressed up sushi. Skimpy on the fish

If you want to try something good and cheap go to this place, good food, try all the sashimi and good view from the bar, you will love it

We decided to have our Christmas Party Luncheon at RA.... What a disappointment! I have been to the City Center location and love the food and service. Unfortunately, not the same experience here. Our waitress kept disappearing and seemed to be avoiding us. Even at close range, we were having to continuously waive her down. We would ask the other wait staff to assist us and they would get an attitude. Shockingly it was 1:30 in the afternoon and not even busy. We will not be returning to this location. Avoid this location and go the extra few miles to City Center!!!

This bar offers a little bit of New York down south. The music was nice with many genres. What's unique is Happy hour starts at 10pm with a nice selection of cocktails and sake with good appetizers to accommodate. It's semi rooftop which was nice. Pedro is a great bartender. Go check this place out.

It seems mundane to evaluate on the pretext of 'ambience-alone,' but I really like it here. Being on the upper floor, outside, eating sushi with a nice variety of electronic music playing, lots of action going on.... I like it. This is not a place for quiet contemplation, at least not on the weekend or perhaps most evenings. So please don't make that mistake. But for me, I like the vibe, friendly servers and great selection of more 'upper shelf' tequilas and other imbibements. Some key points: -Try the mixed cocktails, especially anything made with Lychee! -It is Loud, but not absurdly-so -Servers seem to be well-trained, but be ready, they are BUSY -If you are a sushi-noob, you cannot go wrong with the cooked rolls, so be adventurous, even 'a bit' -The raw sashimi is pretty darn good for a franchise-style restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised. -The patio is fantastic overlooking the City Centre -Plenty of food for the eyes as well as the stomach P.S. City Centre in general is worth seeing while visiting Houston. They have fantastic Hotels here as well!
Sushi with friends
Trendy sushi restaurant with average to great sushi. Try the sake bombs and Viva Las Vegas roll.
