As a dedicated member of the more fish/less meat culinary club, I was anxious to visit RPM Seafood. Located at 317 North Clark Street, in Chicago's bustling River North neighborhood, on the north bank of the Chicago River, in the shadow of the Marina City complex, it is a multi-level restaurant with patio, open-air dining, three private rooms and floor-to-ceiling windows that offer spectacular views of the city. Another collaboration between JR, Jerrod and Molly Melman of the Lettuce Entertain You restaurant empire and the celebrity couple of Bill and Giuliana Rancic. But imagine my disappointment when I scanned the menu and discovered that my favorites, Branzino and Dover Sole, were AWOL. Like RPM Steak without filet mignon. Or RPM Italian with spaghetti and meatballs. Curiously, I recall Mediterranean Branzino and Dover Sole being listed on the RPM Italian menu. But RPM Seafood gets high marks in all other areas. I started with Parker House rolls with French butter, classic shrimp cocktail with spicy cocktail sauce and classic Caesar salad with aged parmesan, anchovy, toasted brioche croutons and mascarpone. For my entree, the wild Alaska halibut with capers and brown butter was meaty, filling and delicious. With whipped potatoes with chives. And grilled asparagus with lemon and chives. For dessert, a real treat, banana cream Napoleon with phylio pastry and warm salted caramel. Proof than man cannot live on Branzino and Dover Sole alone.

Beautiful restaurant on the Chicago river, great service but food ok, not great for quite an expensive restaurant. Expected better flavor and better quality. Even sushi was not that great.

If I could I would of rated this 0. The whole experience was marred by the front of house person. He was obnoxious and rude. We arrived slightly early - ten minutes, the whole restaurant was empty but he made us wait until 5pm. Disappointing to have this first impression. Food was experience but ok just ok. It was well cooked. I would not recommend the Maine lobster rice as very dull and lacking flavour. I suggest the restaurant rethink using Marco as front of house. Also our waiter wasn’t very attentive.

Fresh, excellent seafood. Started with fresh shrimp, salad and moved on to crab cakes and white fish. Ended the meal with beautifully prepared beef, chicken, potatoes and more shrimp. Service was too notch and the view was unbelievably beautiful!

This place was spectacular. The drinks were spot on, the service was great. The food was delicious, but the dessert was what put it over the top. We had their Napoleon banana dessert (not sure of the exact name) and it was the BEST dessert I've ever had. Our waiter didn't rush us, but was still attentive and the ambiance was amazing. I would highly recommend you try them when you're in town.

We enjoyed the new vibe but the food and pricing was very off. We just had appetizers at the bar and octopus was very expensive and non existent portion. Also king claw was overpriced with little portion. Need better pricing for wines By the bottle also. Cauliflower was also salty as a side.

As devoted members of the more fish/less meat community, my wife and I love seafood. We eat fish three times a week at home. Every other month, I purchase two pounds each of 13 different kinds of fish, from tilapia to whitefish to grouper to ocean perch to Branzino to Chilean sea bass to halibut to mahi mahi to red snapper to salmon to cod to flounder to swordfish. So you can imagine that we were thrilled to see another seafood restaurant open up in downtown Chicago, not far from where we live. RPM Seafood is a collaboration of the celebrity power couple of Bill and Giuliana Rancic and siblings Jerrod and Molly Melman of the celebrated and highly successful Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises. Located at 317 North Clark Street, overlooking the Chicago River, in the River North neighborhood, it is one of the hottest new restaurants in the downtown area, along with RPM Steak and RPM Italian. Open from 4 to 11:30 daily, RPM Seafood is a multi-level restaurant with a glitzy interior, premium full bar and private dining. We started with shrimp cocktail, bay scallops, citrus-cured salmon, sesame baguettes and classic Caesar salad with parmesan and anchovy. For an entree, I chose my favorite, grilled Spanish Branzino with whipped potatoes and green beans amandine. I choose Branzino whenever it appears on a menu. And the meaty, tender, delicious Mediterranean sea bass, which I discovered a few years ago in Florida, appears more and more frequently. My wife had a tough choice to make: Tai red snapper or Dover Sole fish and chips. She opted for the Dover sole with spicy broccoli. For dessert, we shared chocolate mousse torte and RPM cheesecake with tart cherries and cinnamon cream. But it was hard to pass up the banana cream Napoleon. Is there anything that LEY doesn't do well?

The location fantastic. On the river in the heart of the city. The space is beautiful snd inviting. There is outdoor and indoor dining and what I cal “half and half” because the windows roll back and it’s like being outside without wind. It’s rather pricey but then it’s Chicago. The crab legs were $119 and were really good and meaty, however, they were served on a bed of rock salt. If the crab nests touches the salt it’s just too much. The dover sole and chips was fabulous. They called the potatoes chips and they were chunks of potatoes fried to perfection. Crispy and crunchy. The halibut and black cod were excellent. Everything was good except the cosmos. Both were a little strange tasting. Service fantastic. Valet parking $25.00

Highest quality service starting with hosting and servers, and the restaurant manager visiting the table to thank you for being there. The salads are incredible. I enjoyed the classic Caesar. The blackened Sea Bass was cooked perfectly, and the two sides we shared were incredible as well. Given the perfect portions, we decided to try their desserts. I had the Key Lime Pie with a saltine cracker crust. I was shocked by how perfectly the crust matched with the tangy lime and sweet whipped cream topper. I highly recommend this beautiful spot right on the river.

We chose this restaurant because of its location and also because I wanted to visit another rpm restaurant. I reserved a patio table for two 6 weeks ahead of our visit. I realize that they are not guaranteed but I thought since I mentioned it was for a birthday that they would make an effort. We did however get a table right on the edge of the inside dining and the patio. We were greeted by our waiter and I began a friendly conversation with him to make him smile. We did not get very much reaction from him. After we ordered drinks he came back for our order. We asked for suggestions and again he wasn’t very much help. The meal took 1 hour to arrive. The Caesar salad was excellent. The large soft croutons was very tasty. From the beginning to the end of our dinner the waiter completely ignored us. We went to the patio to get a picture of us near the river and I asked another waiter if he was a good photographer. He said “yes but then quickly walked away from us. I was very excited to visit this new Rpm location but I think the group including Bill and Giuliana Rancic should pay closer attention to the people working in their restaurants because they will not have repeat customers. A friendly staff and attention to customers is key to having a memorable experience in a restaurant

Great location overlooking the river, and they have outdoor seating on 2 levels. The fish is excellent, but very pricey/small portions. No bread offered. Service is fine except an inhospitable refusal to turn down the heater over our heads - discomfort ruins enjoyment.

Food was good. Rpm booked me for the wrong date BUT accommodated to my own private room. I loved the private like bar area scenery seating better. Great place with a nice river scenery

Everything incredible. Nice atmosphere to be with friends. Cesar salad delicious. Spicy ebi shrimp delicious. Hamachi, wow. And please, order the white bread with salt butter, so simple yet so delicious. Sorry, no photos, we ate too fast!

Service so bad it was comical! We had a reservation and showed up on time. Given a bad table inside so we asked to be moved outside. They graciously let us move but not to the table of our choice because the table of our choice was “reserved”. No one approached our table for even water for 20 minutes. We took it upon ourselves to move to the table of our choice since no one was sat there at the reserved table. Waited another 15 minutes until our first interaction with a waiter. Waiter took our order and we had to wait yet another 20 minutes. We actually received 6 drinks at once when we ordered 3 which was nice but comical. All good came at once wo coursing out. We’ve never felt neglected like this at such a nice restaurant before, ever. Don’t your time and money here.

Venue continues to be a hot spot and thus very busy and loud. Hostess led us to table that was still occupied. Waited another 10 mins to be seated 30 mins past reservation time. Not a great start but food and service were very good. Bass, crab and mixed grill all delicious. Mixed grill comes flambé at table. Wine selection good. Server was attentive amidst busyness. It was also pretty loud, difficult to hold a conversation at times. It improved as it got later. Overall food and company made for an enjoyable evening. Won’t rush to return.

I have been here about 6 times now and every time has been awesome. This is an awesome place to come for both dinner or a place for a few drinks and an appetizer. It is conveniently situated adjacent to the Chicago river which features amazing views of the Chicago skyline and the river. The menu is a little pricey but it is worth every penny. The seafood tower and the steaks are a definite favorite. Enjoy!

Took the team here to eat and were had a great time. The place was very lively, everyone around had a great time and the seafood was amazing, but I decided to mix it up and get the wagyu steak strip, which was incredible! There is a red snapper ceviche that you must try here! We loved it so much we ordered 3 rounds of it and at it up with the tortilla chips. That was beyond amazing! The staff is very attentive and respectful too, you really feel taken care of.

Super seafood resturant. Easy to get reservations. Could not get outdoor, but inside was lively. Right on the river. Dining room and bar area beautifully decorated. Menu options plentiful. An amazing Tanquery 10 dirty martini. Super cold. 3 blue cheese olives. Perfection. We shared a salad that was delish and plenty to share. I had the small seafood tower as my entree. Everything on it was delish...except west coast oysters. Not the resturants issue... I just LOVE east coast....so the delish EC oysters on the tower ruined the wc for me. My friend had the tacos. Delish and super filling. We shared the cream brulee. That was divine!! Service was exceptional. Atmosphere perfect. A great place for someone on vaca or a local!

Will charge you a fee to simply allow you to reserve online. Will not answer the phone to help accommodate additional details to your reservation. The business will email you to notify your reservation has been changed however when you call the number listed on the website & the same one listed on multiple online platforms no one ever answers. (upon arriving to the business, you see about 3 hostesses standing around). Their valet service will charge you but fail to disclose that the charges change based on duration of time spent in business & can get very pricey fast. The business will change your reservation from the outside patio and just put you in the bars dining area with heavy traffic around you. The business staff will refuse to honor your reservation and put you in the dining room area until you have to request a manager. Upon speaking with management, they state they are very busy however you look around and the business is about 35% filled, you can clearly see many empty seats, go to washroom and see the second floor is empty & patio is empty, but sure they must be very busy. By now you are already annoyed and asking yourself, what’s the point of a reservation? The table is somewhat cleaned but still has stains from the previous dinners having had spilled something. Some of our chairs still had crumbs of food from whom ever had dined before. The food & cocktails are pricey but expected based on the view, location & esthetics of the business, however the prices do not reflect the taste of the food as its flat out bland. We ordered some cocktails & wine. The wine we ordered was fairly priced and great taste; however, cocktails are watered down and lack alcohol. The cocktails all came with a large ice figure; we are confident if you remove your large ice cube you will realize your cocktail is only filled up halfway. The seafood does not taste fresh but rather a bit old, the portions & taste are also extremely disappointing for the price point. Food portions are small & not sharable. Most items are a la carte and do not come with sides. Fish options on menu are extremely limited and don’t offer many options compared to other seafood restaurants with the same price point as this one. While dinning we found ourselves having to ask the staff to refill our waters, this is disappointing from the service aspect. Upon finishing our dinner, we waited a while for someone to finally come and pick up our dishes, we did see plenty of staff around us but still took a while. Desert was delicious, we picked 2 items from the options provided but one of our options seem a bit overpriced for simple gelato ice cream. Be ready to spend money but receive mediocre service, food & drinks. If you want a better overall experience on a similar price point of RPM seafood, you should consider Maple & Ash, Gibson’s, Gibson’s Italia, Maestros, Benny’s chop house & many more Chicago gems. Do yourself a favor and don’t settle for this junk, this place seems more concern about taking your money before anything close to what a dining experience should be.

Loved everything about this glossy, upscale seafood restaurant. The welcome was warm, service excellent & food, wine & cocktails all superb. It has a stunning river side location, chic, sexy decor & exciting buzz. One of my top dining experiences in Chicago.

Very upscale restaurant with very mediocre seafood. The salad was solid, but the rest of the meal was very average and not worth the money. There is really nothing special about the food.

Nice lunch on the water We shared a few things. The chopped salad was awesome as well as the ceviche. The miso cod wasn’t bad but wasn’t memorable. Very pricey but a nice meal

Our servers and staff were very good. We appreciated all of their help to secure a reservation, and then execute it that evening. Everything was terrific, and standouts included the salads, red snapper carpaccio, and the fries. Everyone enjoyed their entrees as well. We were happy with our outdoor table a bit away from all of the noise. Great evening!

We went here after our boat tour and river walk. Wasn't interested in ruining our dinner, but could have easily done it. It was a gorgeous day, but opted for a table indoors - booth and enjoyed looking outside. It was a rare day of beauty so we were told - only 10 days a year like the day we enjoyed. Our waitress was a sweet young lady and shared a few specials. We decided to share a couple of bites....the Peekytoe Crab de Jonghe and the Lobster Roll Special that came with fries. WOW! first, the Peekytoe....he loved it, I liked it. but he really loved it. Now the Lobster Roll. I'm glad we had dinner plans because given the opportunity to for a full lunch, I would have ordered another, not shared and when he reached in for a bite, he would have drawn back a stub. That's how delish the roll was. Best in my life! Great place and one can see that this is a beautiful restaurant - Napa Valley standards, but reminded me of a beautiful restaurant in Mexico with the "white & ivory" everythings along with beautiful lighting. Also the indoor/outdoor retractable wall of windows. Beautiful - expensive - worth it.

Upscale, trendy, some of the best seafood we have collectively had, and this is from Maine and Chesapeake Bay folks, who also love sushi. This was our first experience at an RPM; the food, the drinks and the service were outstanding. Pricey, but worth it for a business outing or a special night out. The jet-setters and fashionistas were there being seen, so it was also entertaining to watch the parade. We came without a reservation, it was bustling and yet they seated us within 5 minutes. Our host, Jacob was terrifically attentive and made excellent suggestions. Highly recommended.

Deserves a Michelin star! The receiving line was polite, the wine list was elaborate, the sommelier was knowledgeable, the location was convenient and the service was up to scale. The food however, was the highlight of the evening. The selection of seafood was unique, well cooked and delicious. The only advice I would give is to arrange for taxis for guest pick up after the dinner.

Bad service and bad hostesses behavior. Not worth the effort. Other alternatives with same views, better quality and better price ratio

Good restaurant for fish and seafood. We had a business dinner and the service and food was overall good. The appetizers where better then the main course. Nothing to complain but also nothing outstanding. So overall a good seafood restaurant on the more high end price scale

Our first visit celebrating an early Anniversary. We were fortunate to have Mohammed I. as our server. The decor was upscale chic and just pleasant to look at! The food and presentation were outstanding! A bonus is the lovely views of the Chicago river.

Went there for both my birthday and wife’s birthday First time we ate outdoors in tent We were late but we’re not rushed To get out, Second time we ate indoors Both times food snd service were above reproach Went out of way to make night perfect Halibut and lobster were outstanding Cut outside cdd as me with no cutting charge Will be back often On expensive side but u get what u pay for

I’d like to see this restaurant venture from the safe zone as their menu & food give off that vibe. You could do worse but this ain’t quite Rpm status just yet.

Location is great downtown Chicago Drinks are great. Staff are trying Poor management food sucks never again not recommend

We had a large group in a private room at RPM. Service was very good, and the food was terrific. Both the steak and the halibut were truly first rate.

We did the thanksgiving dinner and it wasn’t good at all, certainly not worth the price. The buffet had limited options and they were generic, felt more like a hometown buffet. Service was slow and it felt rushed. The place was packed and it felt crowded. Ambiance was terrible, no decorations at all, people wearing sweatpants and tshirts. We have done other thanksgiving dinners in Chicago (i.e. the Langham and the Four Seasons) and this one ranks pretty close to the bottom, value it’s not there. I heard this is the first time they do thanksgiving so I hope they take my comments as constructive criticism, although looking at other reviews it seems some of the issues we experienced are recurrent. We won’t be back to any RPM restaurants.

What a lovely restaurant. Both the bar and restaurant are very well done and comfortable. Atmosphere is sparkly like a party and people watching is great. The dinners were delicious and service was A+. We had an amazing night here.

Zero hospitality at the bar. The "service" was fine--but absolutely no friendliness. It was early and not crowded at all. Would not go back._____________________

My husband and I loved the steak and Italian versions, so we decided to try the seafood restaurant. They have 2 patios and we were fortunate to be seated on the top level overlooking the river. The service, food, bottle of wine and weather were just wonderful. Our server Luke was so personable and attentive I would return just to have him serve us. The crab cake I ordered was the best I've ever tasted, along with the beautiful Halibut fish tacos. We had an incredible dining experience and cannot wait to go back. Yes its pricey but worth it.

This was one of our first stops in Chicago, and what a way to start it off! While we were originally headed to the 320 River Bar, it was immediately apparent that the adjacent building offered seating closer to the river. Our only motivation for coming here was the better view, so we had no idea what kind of restaurant this was. I was a little hesitant when I realized this was a seafood joint, but was very relieved to find they also offered a steak burger for a reasonable price! Even if you’re not into seafood, the view of the river is gorgeous, and I’d highly recommend this top notch experience!

AMAZING!!!!Restaurant is beautiful!! The food and ambiance was top notch as well as the wait staff. Our son and fiancé took us there, it was the BEST seafood I have EVER had.

Well, hands-down, the best view for dining in the city of Chicago. It is a seafood house, so no real wow factor for food but everything was tasty, just no, oh my gosh factor. Service was efficient, but had to ask for things, not great at checking in on a table. All in all, I definitely would go back and try something other than the Seabass and halibut. Must say, stand out, the octopus definitely one of the better in the city.

Great location - very nice ambiance - also very good service. Very noisy. Food was OK fine. NOT great.

I was a little concern when we came in and it was so busy, but it did not matter. We had very good service accompanied of great drinks and great food. Great ambiance and property!

We had high expectations going in but overall was disappointing To be fair, the food was good but that was overshadowed by a very noisy, busy, literally “factory like” environment Service was impersonal and servers were rushed Plates were being cleared before everyone was done For the money, expected a more refined experience This one goes on the “been there, done that “ list…not worth a second visit

Great locations, great views, friendly service; but here is where it ends. The food just ok; portion sizes are small. The value just isn’t here. We were also disappointed in the cocktails as they were small and somewhat watered down. Try it yourself. Wish we liked it more.

Has a scene, but does not deliver in food or service. High end prices, yets service was hurried--my aperitif glass and wine glass both were whisked away before they were finished. Water glasses not replenished as often as one would expect in this quality restaurant--a simple aspect of dining. The seafood quality perhaps at level expected, but preparation, even the basic presentation, was ordinary. Accommodation for prematurely removed drinks was made, but general impression was to, in the future, go somewhere they care.

Sitting outdoors at this restaurant on a gorgeous Saturday evening was a treat. The boat traffic below is constant and fun to watch, and the tall buildings are quite a sight. But getting to the rest of it - service was friendly but I guess I’ll characterize it as intermittent. One server took the drink order for 2 people (the other 2 were looking down at the menu) and he ran off returning more than 10 minutes later with one person’s drink. The other 2 people got to place their drink orders and then 2 of the 3 pending cocktails arrived, again after a lengthy wait. In the meantime, we placed a bunch of app orders and again, the server ran off. When they delivered the 4th drink and the apps, the waiter started to collect our menus but we hadn’t been given a chance to order entrees yet - this was the theme of our evening. So weird. The food was good- the chopped salad was excellent, as were the sushi appetizers. The entrées were small and uninspiring, and I couldn’t even eat the salmon. It tasted like propane from a grill or something else I can’t quite describe. Overall, this is a beautiful setting for dinner, but with the spotty service and very high prices, we are one and done.

I highly recommend this place. Not cheap, but definitely a good option. We had a business dinner with 5 persons: great & friendly service and perfect seafood. We started with a seafood tower as well as ceviche. Very impressive wine selection, though too much focus on European wines - still impressive! Great place, will want to return in the summer to sit outside.

Excellent service and food, noise level could be better as restaurant was packed, but would definitely go back there. Excellent location right over the riverwalk.

We did not have a reservation so walked in and got 2 seats at the bar - often sitting at the bar you get the best service and that was the case here. We had a couple of excellent cocktails, my wife is particular, and they made hers to perfection. Then we shared a couple of appetizers and a couple of entrees and for a night with no reservations and just dropping by on chance it was just great and we would highly recommend this location.

not a friendly experience at the bar, despite it not being busy at all; antiseptic service and customer experience. food ok. great happy hour menu and view.

RPM’s quality of service, food and cocktails never disappoint. Same for RPM Steak and Italian. Met a few girlfriends for cocktails and light apps and had an amazing view of the Chicago river from the bar table tops. Abbey our Bartender and Kama the manager had delicious recommendations. The ceviche and crab cakes were to die for! Abbey checked in on us periodically. Very contemporary vibe and good looking crowd. HINT: Don’t be disappointed if there are only bar top rezos available. You still have an amazing view. Also you're likely to get a better table the earlier you go.

Excellent. Beautiful space and nice vibe, great service, wonderful view over the river, and delicious food. We had the focaccia and olives, crab mac and cheese, branzino, whipped potatoes, and banana napoleon. The best dining experience I’ve had in quite some time.

Most disappointing experience...... Booked for celebrating birthday with family (mentioned on Tock) - no one cared to wish or make it any special. Extremely loud Seafood tower for $99 was a joke - mediocre quantity and quality seafood Warm Prawns in olive oil - 4 medium shrimps split into 8 halves for $20 - total rip off $25 for a single crabcake??? Fish portions were small with no sides Overall - tasteless food and not worth the money & hype

My husband and I sat in the dining room for dinner, with a great view of the patio, the river, and the buildings across the river. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu items. I had the wild Alaskan halibut with capers and brown butter, which was cooked very nicely and melted in my mouth. My husband had the seared tuna, which he loved. He ordered the sweet corn as a side, which I tried, but I was not a fan of the seasoning (nor was he, actually). We were given a complimentary dessert (for our anniversary), which was a small chocolate dessert that was rich and delicious.

Phoebe was outstanding! Professional, made us laugh, engaging, spot on advice , helpful with making derisions. Her service made the evening even more special. This restaurant was recommended to us by a local and it was spot on. The best crab I have had! The halibut was outstanding. Would recommend again. With excellent views of the river and a fabulous server, the evening was wonderful !

There are many restaurants in Chicago that are a better use of your time and money. Absolutely nothing special about this place. Drinks are weak and food is just ok

One of the worst experiences and meals. The staff was rude from entering at the hostess stand, waiter, etc. barely making eye contact, no smiles, just pushing you through fast. Cocktails were bad, waiter dropped menus, asked for orders, no warmth or smiles. We asked about a few meals and he had no recommendations. Salad was not good, dishes were below average (and expensive) and the waiter tossed dessert menus at us as he ran by….we had amazing dinner experiences at multiple Chicago restaurants but not this one: DO NOT RECOMMEND! Would give it a ZERO if possible.

Seated and after 20 mins still didn’t have water let alone asked if we wanted a drink - people seated behind us after us at least got water

We enjoyed dinner at RPM Seafood this past Saturday night. We have equally enjoyed meals at RPM Steak and Italian; RPM Seafood is right up there. The atmosphere is great with beautiful views of the River. Our server was great, and we had a nice conversation about how they stayed relevant and afloat during the Pandemic. The RPM brand gets it when it comes to the experience economy. Well done, RPM!

Great ambiance. Vibrant atmosphere. Good Service. All food was of high quality and well prepared. If there was any negative point, we ordered the seafood tower for $250.. The quality was great the quantity of food for $250 was a SIGNIFICANT disappointment. We would go back there again for sure. We would just order more carefully.

This place was great. We were a little late for our reso bc we went to sister restaurant by accident but they were gracious. Temperature checks and patio seating per covid rules and the place was very clean. The food was really good and the seafood tower was very fresh. The champagne for the complimentary toast was amazing (not the cheap stuff, lol). Service was top notch and everyone enjoyed their experience. Will definitely return. Sorry, thought I took more pics!

Girlfriend took me here for my birthday and it was a great experience. I ordered Pacific cod and it was cooked to perfection. My girlfriend had the same and said it tasted good with some delicious white wine. We also found the views from the dining room spectacular. We definitely recommend asking for a table along the windows if you can pull it off.

My family of four really enjoyed our special dinner out at RPM Seafood. The mini seafood tower was delicious and fresh! Also, the bartender did an excellent job with my Old-Fashioned. The crab cake was not what we expected but still tasted good.

The food was extremely good, the service was impeccable, the waitress was checking on us the whole time and the speed when it came to the food was astonishing (never before I had experienced this kind of speed). I would certainly go back.

Seafood looked amazing but we principally went to this restaurant for some post dinner drinks. In a great location the bar area is very stylish and well laid out. Very popular with a great crowd very much recommend you visit.

We waited over 20 minutes for our first drink. The second one ordered before the meal was not delivered. After I was done eating I told the waiter I no longer wanted it. The waiter’s reply was ‘oh no problem, it was probably still at the bar waiting, it would be on him’. We ordered a couple of the lower priced entries, bass and steak frites, a couple salads and one vegetable. They were decent. Total came to $260 including tip, a bit overpriced for a decent meal and bad service. But great location on the river. Nice ambiance. I do regret leaving the standard 20% tip however. Bad service should not be rewarded. Last time for me.

Our first time in Chicago, we booked this restaurant whilst on a river boat trip the same day. The water front property looked nice even when closed earlier in the day. The dining experience by the river, the food and service was first class. The restaurant was empty on arrival but filled very quickly, the food was top quality to match the service and staff, the best food we ate whilst in Chicago. Well done all at RPM

Great location along the Chicago River in River North. Trendy, young vibe with glass doors opening out to the water. Definitely make a reservation as we did for our anniversary. It was a nice touch that RPM had our menus printed with our names. They gave both of us a glass of prosecco. We ordered the oysters and chopped salad. Both very good. Then we had the black cod and whole tempura snapper. The cod was delicious but felt that the snapper was a little dry. The batter didn’t taste light like a tempura. The broccolini was a bit spicy as I think they put a bit too much chili flakes. RPM also gave us a dessert which was a nice surprise. Service from the host, server, bus person were all attentive and friendly. Our bill was over $200! Everything was good but I don’t know if it was worth it. The food has to be fabulous for me for that price. I would return for drinks but hesitate to return for dinner again.

The service (waiter) was really good. He explained everything well and was on point. His name is Jason. The oysters were outstanding. We had the East /west coast combo. We started with mixed drinks. Not good at all. I ordered the summer old fashion. Supposed to be light but I also didn’t ask for non-alcoholic. I had to order an extra shot. It was fine with the shot. My wife and daughter ordered the Jelisco affair. It was way too sweet. Both very expensive drinks. We brought a bottle of wine….the wine list up charges 4x….but great wine list. However, I could tell the Som wasn’t impressed to open an outside bottle as he never came back to the table. We poured our own wine. ($50 cork fee). I had the fish and chips…forgot what it’s called. Very good if it was bar food. But it’s expensive so it’s was less than average for the cost. Lobster Mac and cheese was awesome. Perfectly done, a little crunch. A good amount of lobster in it. My wife and daughter had the sea urchin pasta….they asked for salt. Also had the fish tacos. They were fine for bar food but we expected way better for RPM. This 3 stars is a gift. And I’m only giving it 3 so people don’t think I rate restaurants too hard. Don’t go…there’s a bar down the street that probably serves just as good food…:: ONE LAST ISSUE, 2 bathrooms and a gigantic space on level one. Super uncomfortable waiting in line for 15 minutes to go pee????

This restaurant is known for their seafood and it did not disappoint. The bar area is vibrant with a great staff. After my cocktail, I ordered the octopus appetizer which was outstanding. For my entree, the halibut was excellent with my side of mash potato’s. Overall great meal and service , will be back

Beautiful modern upscale space houses this seafood restaurant. The wine list is extensive and pricey but some good value wines can be found. The menu is exciting and well thought out but the execution and service fall short. Started with a dozen fresh oysters and red snapper ceviche. The oysters were gritty, indicating inadequate cleaning and preparation. The ceviche was served with corn chips. Plantain chips or tostones would have been more appropriate and upscale. All main courses are a la carte. We ordered the Steak Frites, grilled Black Bass, Branzino, Greek lemon potatoes, roasted asparagus and Hen of the Woods mushrooms. The steak frites and Branzino were good. The Black Bass was a ridiculously small portion and was presented so completely covered with parsley that I could not see the fish. The spice blend so overpowered the fish, that the Bass' flavor and texture were lost. Overall the service was pleasant but the waitstaff was missing most of the meal. The restaurant has great potential but some refinement is needed.

Friendly staff, good atmosphere and great food, this in few words was our experience at RPM Seafood. I want to mention the quality of the Seafood Tower (excellent) and the very tasty Spanish Octopus. Great wine list with interesting bottles. Not cheap but prices are in line with the general quality of the place. We will return.

Best meal I've had in a long time! Absolutely devine! Beautiful decor, wonderfully attentive staff, and excellent food. We went with a large group, our server was well trained and handled the group seamlessly. She was on top of every water refill, place setting, and anything we needed. The food was lovely. We tried many appetizers and shared across the group. Everything was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The bread was soft and subtle, the raw fish was bright and fresh, the branzino skin was crisp while the flesh was moist, and the desserts were sweet and perfect. Several days after my meal and I'm still dreaming about it.

I was super excited to try this based on the ratings- but my experience was not as great. The octopus was ok. The squash appetizer was terrible. (Literally, we sent it back) The squid ink pasta was ok, and the JLT was mediocre at best Service was friendly. Wine was overpriced.

We were here to celebrate a big anniversary and nothing was done to acknowledge our anniversary. We asked for a better table near the patio but we were told that they were fully booked. We mentioned it was our anniversary but that did not seem to matter. The concierge at our hotel made the reservation for us and even indicated that it was our 35th wedding anniversary. We chose this place because of the patio seating near the river. We could not even see the river from our table. The food was okay but very overpriced. Bread was $13. There are too many choice of restaurants in Chicago to settle for this place.

This was right next door to our hotel (the Westin) and we watched as people were enjoying their meals so much we thought we would give it a try! Reservations are a must, even for lunch, and we loved our food so much! We had the chilled lobster and everything rolls to start, and then a caesar salad, huge crabcake, and lemon linguine with grilled shrimp. The crabcake was seriously the best one we had ever had (still talking about it a week later). Our server was attentive and perfect. we had no room for dessert, but will try next time!

Sadly the food didn’t compare with the atmosphere. Sent the scallops back once but should’ve sent them back twice. No colour on them at all even after asking the waiter to have them refried. Portions of all food was small. Was upsold on grated black truffle that was flavourless. Prefer to try smaller Ma and Pa restaurants next time we visit Chicago.
Decent salmon dinner in Chicago River restaurant
RPM Seafood provided a decent salmon (with a side of sweet corn) dinner in a Chicago River restaurant with excellent views. I had trouble getting a table on a busy summer weekend night; so I would suggest getting a reservation. The upstairs bar still had seating the night I was there, with the added benefit of even better River views from a higher perch.
