One of our favorite go to places to eat! Excellent food...3 Mushroom meatloaf is yummy. Reuben is worthy of sharing. Nice size and flavor of the filet mignon. Nice bar, well prepared martinis, adequate wine list. If I would have a complaint, it is too many servers per table. The drink order is placed with a server; someone else brings them. Food order placed with another, someone else brings food. The multiple servers is new, hoping it doesn't last long. But, all over, we will continue to enjoy great food and drink at R & D!

Some of the portions here tend to be a little small. One friend had the stacked cornmeal waffle with shaved ham. It was very tasty, but on the small side. If you are going to order this, you might want to get a side as well. I got the cheeseburger with fries. It was delicious! I didn't need to eat dinner that night. Another friend got the pan fried fish and it was also very tasty, although it could have used a little more flavor, but it was not fishy at all. The service here is great. All the servers are very friendly and keep you full of everything you want. We were there this past Sunday afternoon, 4/14 and were able to sit outside after only a short wait. We will be going back.

I absolutely love this place. The menu is small, and it does not overwhelm you with a lot of choices. I have been coming to this place for a few years now, and I don't get tired of their food. Everything is fresh, and tastes amazing. The atmosphere is great as well, a lot of light insight, and the patio is quite charming. Check this place out, you won't regret it. If you visit for lunch, try to get there before 11:30, or the place will be packed. By the way, and to clarify, this is a sister restaraunt to the former Houston's, and not a former Houston's itself. Former Houston's is now called Hillstone, and is located in the same building Houston's was in, which is across the parking lot from R+D.

The policies that they enforce do not make sense whatsoever. Per policy they only allow 2 people to sit at a table that sits 4 people. Then if you are sitting down you can't wear a hat yet the person in front of you at the bar that is 4ft away from you can wear a hat because it is considered a "casual" area. The policies they are implying do not make sense and it needs to be updated. Food was great! Catherine, the manager was not helpful at all. Honestly, the host person was alot more helpful and caring that Catherine was. She should take over her position for sure. I was given an attire standard note, which the rules on there contradict itself. Love this place, but no so much the environment some of the staff provides. Especially when it comes to management.

I know it's not typical for a restaurant that offers a very diverse menu. But R&D has a terrific showcase of sushi which is really tasty with melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. We split the Nigiri Combo Plate which featured two types of salmon plus yellowtail tuna. The salmon in particular was very special. In addition, we enjoyed the Newporter Salad and a side of French Fries. Newporter is substantial in size, easy to split between 2 persons. We went without a reservation on a Saturday night and joined what was advertised by greeters as a "one-hour wait'. Meanwhile we were able to secure two seats at the very comfortable bar, requiring no reservation, and totally enjoyed our experience there. Service is superb.

Atmosphere is pleasant and comfortable. We started with deviled eggs and rainbow sushi roll that I would highly recommend. I got the crunchy shrimp roll that was superb and others got salad, meatloaf and pulled pork sandwich. Can't wait to go back again and try something else on the menu.

From the moment you walk in you feel like you are at home. The hostess recognized me after only one visit and is quick to take us to our favorite booth. The food is excellent . We love to start out with the tuna and then share a salad. The servers are top notch very attentive and helpful. It is a loud bustling place so dont expect to unwind and relax but do expect to be served.

My wife's words, as we were trying to figure out why R&D is so consistently popular, busy and lively. R&D Kitchen is a locals' favorite. The food and service are always top shelf. Fortunately for us, we had a Friday night reservation (HIGHLY recommended) as wait time would have been 45 minutes or more. Despite the place being completely full, we were served in a surprisingly short time. My Cajun-seasoned trout was perfect, along with cole slaw and asparagus that was equally good. But one reason we went was that We wanted to reward ourselves after a successful run on Weight Watchers by getting her a cheeseburger and me a piece of their to-die-for banana cream pie.

A table for 4 we were told 30 minute wait. Well Sixty minutes went by and still no table. They take a total of two reservations an hour when you walk in the patrons seem to sit and sit and sit. Once we sat at a table the food was delicious. service very good. Will we wait again no we won't, there are other restaurants that are as good as this one.

Everything they do here is good! Great Ruben Sandwich, great salads , great sushi! I had the oriental chicken salad this trip, and it was delicious! My husband had the roasted chicken salad! He liked mine better! Excellent service

A new favorite. Great food; light and fun atmosphere, good service. Its just the right mix of great food; reasonable prices and casual enough for a quick lunch date wit but would also work for a nice business lunch meeting.

Fantastic service by Nate. The entire establishment runs like a Swiss watch. Freshly prepared fares. Attention to detail. Must try.

cocktails were spot on, food was hot and delicious, and the outdoor seating was lovely! we will definitely be back

This restaurant was recommended to us and it didn't disappoint. The menu is relatively limited but what they have is good. I had spaghetti and meatballs that was just delicious. The server was knowledgeable about the menu and offered suggestions. We were in the mood for dessert but they probably only had 3 choices, none of which were chocolate or anything else appealing. I was disappointed about that but only a little ( my wallet and waistline were happy). Service was friendly and attentive. There is some outdoor seating.

I eaten here twice and while the menu is refreshing, the food is OK but not memorable. With all the choices for dining in Dallas, it's worth a try for something different, but it's not on my list of "must eat" places.

Beware! Have been coming here for years but the last 6 months we have notice a decline in the service. Seems to be lots of servers around, but not as attentive as they use to be. Tonight was the kicker!!! Went in with my grand daughter and was told there would be a 20 minute wait at 8 pm. No problem there were 2 seats at the sushi bar and we ask to sit there. They said as soon as it was bused we could sit down. Waited about 10 minutes, still not bused! A couple walks in, they write their name down and 5 minutes later they seat them!!! I turned to the blonde, very rude hostess and said we where here before them and you wouldn't seat us. She mumbled some excuse and we walked out! Love the food here but the attitude of the staff is beginning to stink!!

Service is great!!! The bartenders can make anything you want, awesome! The food is very good with a bit of flare. It has all the good differences that make a place great. Always consistent which I like in a restaurant. I has become a go to place weekly or more!

We frequent R&D and the food is always consistent and so good! The atmosphere is always fun, the staff is very professional and the food it absolutely yummy! It is a great place to go for business or pleasure. The food fits the fancy of everyone in our family. The sushi is amazing and my personal favorite is the Thai Tuna Roll and the Mediterranean Tuna salad.

The fried fish lunch is to die for. Excellent food coupled with a fun atmosphere and great service makes this restaurant an easy choice for any occasion.

I'm a local in Dallas and I regularly schedule business lunches at R+D. Their food is tremendously consistent and their service is impeccable. The menu is small and does not change from lunch to dinner. That being said, they execute everything on it flawlessly.

Last time here was over a year ago. Sat at sushi bar again, even though had reservation on Friday evening. Sushi chef was amazing. Talk about taking his craft to extreme. This guy even methodically set his knife down at north of his workspace when anyone approached him, whether they ultimately passed or not. Don't want bad cut on California Roll ... or finger tip in Holiday Roll either. He even comped us second one when we ordered wrong, after overhearing us talking about it. Tipped him for that. Management, surprisingly, didn't have suggestion on how to do it on our inquiry, because apparently no one tips the sushi chef. Why not? FYI, just hand him the money. He hesitated, but acquiesced, barely taking it with his finger tips and discretely setting it aside. Both sushi orders were little masterpieces, fresh and flavorful. Server was attentive, friendly, there when we needed her and not when we didn't. She had some pretty unpleasant halitosis going, but we all get it some time. Ordered salmon, which was fantastic with just olive oil / butter and seasoning (no excessive breading, nuts, etc), and served with home-tasting mashed potatoes (could have been a little more of those) and best sautéed spinach I have ever had. Also had order of fries to start (smaller serving than remembered), glass of wine with dinner, but no time for dessert. On to Tom Petty & the HB at AAC, which BTW was fantastic as well. A successful and enjoyable evening all around.

Oh my gosh! This is such a good restaurant! Sherry was our waitress and she was so nice! I got the Asian noodle salad and my dad got the Cheeseburger and both were so good! This place is quite popular so therefore I recommend making a reservation if you don't want to wait, but otherwise I highly recommend this amazing restaurant!

Arrived during the busy lunch hour and decided to take a seat at the bar. Watched food being prepared and it all looked picture perfect. The service was friendly and timely. Had the tuna salad. All ingredients were fresh, the fish was cooked to perfection - just seared. Ended with a lovely cup of coffee as the salad was very filling. Was sated and very happy. Will definitely return.

We had a great opportunity to sit at the kitchen bar and watch the sushi guys do their magic. The crunchy Thai tuna roll was outstanding. Very good rainbow roll and hamburgers that are a full meal. Very nice selection and service.

The place has a wonderful ambiente with a lot of natural wood, modern design. The food is good and the service top with an engaged crew of young people. Not a formal place but a great venue with plenty of choices. Go there if you are in town.

Last evening we had an early dinner at R&D Kitchen as we were going out to a music performance after. We were able to get a table outside as the dining room can be kind of loud and it was getting very busy. All the outside tables are right next to a fountain and it totally kills all the unpleasant noises. It was relaxing. My wife choose the Roasted Chicken with Tabbouleh. The Chicken was really good. Perfectly cooked with a crispy skin and still very moist. I had a special, the Blackened Trout. The Trout was also cooked just right. The spice level on the blackening gave it a good flavor, but did not overwhelm the fish like some blackenings can do. The service was also very good. Our waiter was there when needed. It was a great way to start our evening. Something interesting we noted on the menu is that cell phone use in the dining room is discouraged. Now if only more restaurants could do that.

This is an OK choice for dining in Dallas especially since there are so many options to choose from here. I've been to R+D for dinner, lunch and brunch several times. Deviled eggs are a home run, but most of their other menu options are ok but not stellar, especially considering their price point. I also can't figure out why this restaurant has such a difficult time with their tea service. How hard can it be to provide customers with hot water when serving tea? I wonder if they can't afford individual kettles, which would surprise me with the prices they charge for their food, or maybe they just don't understand that serving hot tea properly shouldn't be treated as a request that is so outrageous that requires 10-15 minutes to receive hot water from a staff member. I rarely write to the management of a restaurant, but my email to the manager about recent service was never responded to. Another reason R+D is no longer on my list of places to try.

R+D Kitchen has a wonderful selection of wonderful dishes that have healthy to just plain delicious. I had a plate of their famous deviled eggs (which came 4 to the order and they were huge!). I added a kale and cashew salad that was light and had a yummy dressing. Perfect for the hot day. We ate on the patio and there was plenty of shade and fans for a 95 degree day! Great service and a neighborhood gem. Get there early for lunch -- was completely full by 11:15.

AMBIENCE 4.5 Really cool contemporary interiors with wood rafters and clear-storey windows giving you a feeling of sitting outdoors SERVICE 4.0 Decent service FOOD 5.0 I had a cheeseburger - the best burger I've ever had in the US - very nice and soft and yummy.

R & D is a destination and it has never disappointed. It's well worth a short wait of 20 minutes. It's fascinating to watch the sushi guys, and it's tastefully tantalizing too. I've not had dinner, just lunch; i'm sure it's all A+.

Everything that I have ordered here has been over the top delicious! The sushi is fresh and amazing! The dip duo is sinfully yummy! The steak is hard to beat! The salads and sandwiches are incomparable! You won’t be disappointed and I can not say enough good things about the staff!

We've been eating at this restaurant, which is owned by Hillstone (Houston's), for a long time. That being said, I am so tired of the menu! It is very small and hasn't changed since it opened. Further, we've tried almost everything and we really only enjoy the corn beef sandwich and Newporter Salad. To start we always get the deviled eggs and dip trio, which is also good. But that's it. I've been extremely disappointed anytime I've ordered something else. In fact, the other night I tried the chicken and it was cold!!!! The service is great and the atmosphere is fun and lively and the items we enjoy are consistently good. We'll keep going back, just not very often.

I was back in Dallas for business and this is the second time I have been to R+D. The kale salad and burger are fantastic. The decor is mid-Century modern and had a great buzz on a rainy cold Monday night in February. Highly recommend it for thoughtful American/bistro food.

The bar and bar staff at R&D’s provide a backdrop for a wonderful casual dinner for two. We attempt to be ‘regulars’ but the crowd at dinner often makes it both challenging and highly rewarding. From the brief, highly curated menu (no substitutions or creative requests) to the amazing and formal craft cocktail artisans, this is a place of great comfort and even greater service. When you stop in, ask for Robert, and he will be sure you are well attended to! We’ll see you there!

R&D is an experimental kitchen for the Hillstone and Houston's restaurants and has a well executed but limited menu. It is a bit eclectic (remember experimental) as they even have sushi. Great bar scene and nice decor. Our default spot if Hillstone is packed that is located a block away. We will be back.

Okay, is is a great concept, and while it's proven to be a great dependable stop in your restaurant rotation...it needs a little menu diversity. I can recant the entire menu from home. It's all good, but suprise us more than you do. All the food is well prepared, the wait staff is excellent, and you WANT to go there, despite all the construction that has been goin on for so ong...and will continue. It's in true Houston's style of course, well trained, courtesy driven teams is wait staff, and every meal will be as good as the last time you ate it. If you have never been there, it's worth going.

this place is consisten t and that is why it is always full- anytime any date , always full easy concept , superbly managed and professionally executed been there mammy many times always great

Unplanned stop at R+D was based on single recommendation from co-worker. Hadn't heard anything about it otherwise. What an unexpected positive experience! Menu is simple with atypical assortment of meals (i.e., sushi, meatloaf) but appealing, and all prep'd from scratch. Wine menu is fairly short but comprehensive. Dessert menu is limited, but not a deal-breaker. Decor is streamlined Modern/Prairie with quality look and feel. Waitstaff was fantastic. Had no reservation, so instead of :45 wait, sat immediately at kitchen bar overlooking sushi and general prep areas of kitchen. Definitely recommend eating at bar. Sushi prep was fascinating. Who would have thought a place like R+D would need two guys to turn-out fresh-made sushi constantly for almost two hours on Thursday night?! Ordered Mediterranean Tuna Salad (main), Roasted Chicken w/ what tasted like apricot glaze (main), fries (appetizer), and hot fudge sundae, all of which was excellent. Server was Benny C, who was very attentive, friendly, and not in a phony typical waitstaff way, and very knowledgeable. When asked, he was able to intelligently discuss origins of R+D concept, the menu, the kitchen staff, history of Houston's, general Dallas restaurant industry. Very impressed. We'll definitely go back.

Simple menu items, served quick, big portions, with good service. The menu has all the old standbys, hamburgers, tuna, gauc and chips, but to round out the globe, they serve hummus and sushi. It seems to work for them, just not sure if they threw darts to decide. Staff is busy, but not always attentive. Typical in all respects, just happen to have that great location.

The pan fried sole was wonderful and try the chocolate sundae for dessert! The service was exceptional. Lively bar scene, as well.

We are locals and this has been one of our favorite restaurants for a while. It has a unique menu, something for everyone. I love the crunchy shrimp roll, pine room salad and carnitas sandwich. You can't go wrong with those! Also- the dip duo to start is great. Pimento cheese and guacamole! There are a few outside tables, but it is limited. Inside the atmosphere is modern yet cozy. It just works. The kitchen is open and you can sit at the counter to eat if you wish. Never had a bad experience. And don't forget to order the Sundae!

We have been to R&D's a few times, but this particular visit was for a late Sunday brunch. We sat at the bar and enjoyed the great food, great service, and great people watching. We tried a mix of items including the sushi appetizer, salad, and a burger. I am not sure where else you could find such an interesting mix of food, all prepared so well. I highly recommend R&D for a date night or couples dinner. The bar is also a great place to sit and enjoy a meal by yourself.

Consistently good food. The menu is rather small, but everything is delicious and beautifully presented. The restaurant is always crowded so go early or make a reservation. The seared Ahi tuna salad is wonderful and my go-to. Sushi rolls always fresh, the omelet is also a nice offering in the evening. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Lunch here today with wife, son, and grandson. We had classic tuna (salad) sandwich, reubenesque sandwich, sushi, and grilled tuna salad. All were excellent and huge- I have trouble with such a thick sandwich, but the all the flavors were really good. We went early (11:15), and the place was packed (and getting noisy) when we left. Excellent service. Limited but diverse menu. Highly recommended.

Been to R&D many, many times and love the place and the food. But the so-called "brunch" menu during the weekend stinks. They add some sunny side up dish and then pull a bunch of the regular features and call it a brunch menu. The entre selections during brunch time are very limited. Go to R&D but stay away during the weekend.

Have to say this remains one of my favorite spots for lunch in DFW or when I have visitors. Never disappoints. Love the "Frank Lloyd Wright" design aesthetic of the restaurant and light inside and on a beautiful spring day, sitting outside is lovely....Food and service is consistently excellent. Perennial favorite for me is the Seared Ahi Tuna salad, this visit my guests loved the Carnitas sandwich with the Newporter Salad and had to share the vanilla pie - that walnut crust is divine.

Thouroghly enjoyed every single thing about our experience at R +D!!!! Starting from the hostess, Lindsey, greeting us with a genuine friendly Texas smile to the outstanding food, this is your place!!! Our waitress, Claire Gunder was the sweetest, most professional, knowledgeable waitress I’ve ever had the pleasure of having! She is what made our visit so special by giving us the perfect personalized attentive customer service above all others. She didn’t steer us wrong on the menu selections either!! We will be back for certain and be requesting Claire as our waitress again!!!

Went to R+D with a group of ladies for a night out. We all enjoyed our selections--I had the Pork Carnitas which was delicious. Had I realized how large the sandwich was, I wouldn't have ordered fries. However, they were very good also--small and crispy. Our service as was very good. I thought the wine was very pricey and the restaurant was awfully noisy. However, I did enjoy the experience.

3rd time to visit this restaurant in about 7 years. It is like meeting an old friend, familiar but things have changed, some good some not so good. Good: The food, the Newporter Salad, value $18, portion, just enough and taste, roasted chicken( moist white meat ) mixed greens bacon cashews and chopped egg , and not over dressed . Deviled eggs creative touch, chopped celery. Now the bad : service , waiter was in the weeds with too many tables. Not attentive when we needed him. I will be back to visit my old friend again

This place never disappoints. The food and variety of food is wonderful (something for the healthy eaters and for those who want a burger and fries). The tuna salad is to die for, the omelet delicious. Service is always attentive. Great decor. A solid go-to restaurant. Cannot accommodate large groups since the tables are build in . Six max.

We must eat here every time we are in town! Everything is delicious! If it's your 1st visit I would try the Sushi Rolls, the Filet or the Chicken Meat Balls! Oh, and the Banana Cream Pie! Yum!

R+D is always predictably excellent! The Rubenesque sandwich is my favorite. It's large enough for two, or dog bag a half. Everything on the menu is good, and the wait staff are pros. It's fun to share everyone's dishes.

We have been dining here for a couple of years, and ALWAYS have great service and delicious food. You can almost always expect a wait, but it is worth it. We have a Sunday brunch here a couple of times, and you won't find a better brunch. Most often we are here for lunch or dinner. At dinner there is usually a special. All of the salads are awesome-love the Newporter. We are not sushi eaters, but people that do eat their sushi love it here. The Reuben sandwich is the best, as are the other items on the menu. Great cocktails, great atmosphere. We like the outdoor seating when it is cooler out, even though you are looking onto the parking lot. BUT, this is Dallas! One disappointment is the Banana Cream Pie-YUCK. No flavor at all. It is interesting in that I think the pie is a basic vanilla custard, whipped cream. walnuts, and chocolate bark on top. On the side of the pie are some sliced bananas. NOT a banana cream pie in my book. Don't bother. They may have better desserts, but this is what we ordered.

Arrived without reservation on Easter weekend Saturday and were promptly shown to wait for bar seating on ’first come first serve’ basis. The barstaff were not at all helpful in keeping an eye for seats becoming available even though they should know when customers at the bar are paying their checks. Eventually managed to grab two seats (we were 3). The nice waitstaff later got us a table, thankfully. We were served by a very friendly waitress and had several plates of their delicious sushi.,Overall, the food itself is top notch (5/5) but the bar staff would make this a 3/5 experience so I’ll give it 4/5

Went here with several co-workers. The menu is really eclectic (very very trendy attitude) and we ordered all over the map. Everyone enjoyed the variety. Deviled eggs and sushi appetizers (I know, right?). Cheeseburgers (very good!), roasted salmon, meatloaf for main courses. Portions are pretty good, overall it was a fun experience and worth a visit.

we really enjoy lunch at R&D. The entire menu is well thought out and priced right. I really enjoy the salads but the burger sure hits the spot! the deviled eggs are a local favorite. get there early as it is packed by 11:40am. bar seating is first come first serve and is a good option if you are with a friend or solo. the staff have all been there for many years and are wonderful. I really like the way the cross support one another. highly recommend.

Whenever I need a good meal, lunch or dinner, R+D is always my first choice. Their sushi is actually incredible, their salads are healthy and filling, not to mention the incredible omelet at lunch. Such great classic dishes that impress the pickiest eaters, too.

Frequented establishment repeatedly for lunch and dinner. Fortunately, they serve our favorite wine, Rombauer Chardonnay. The menu is many fold: great salads and excellent raw fish in appetizing variety. The service is friendly and attentive. In our minds R&W Kitchen tops their sister restaurant, The Honor Bar, in Highland Park which we also enjoy very much.

We love the location, the architecture and the food quality.. but the menu needs to evolve already.

Lunch here often with clients and friends. Outstanding service. Food is so consistently tasty. Highly recommend.

Lovely meal with excellent service. The Greek Chicken and the pan cooked Sole were delicious. We couldn’t decide who had the better meal-both were equally fantastic.

We liked this restaurant for the cozy atmosphere and food quality. We felt the menu was limited, but everything we had was delicious.

Wife and I had a great lunch at the bar with a nice glass of wine. Good variety for lunch menu, and the people watching is tops during the week. Decided to have a 2nd glass of wine just watch all of the hustle and bustle of folks during their work days.

This place was very busy during lunch hours. I sat at the bar and was very happy with the service I recieved there. I drank water and had the newporter Salad. AWESOME!

This is one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. The coconut and crunchy shrimp sushi is incredible. I could not get enough. I had the roasted salmon for my dinner, and followed that up with a banana creme pie. One of the best meals I've had in a long time! Couldn't recommend this place more.

Mashe and Jonathan were awesome! The service was top notch and the food was delectable! I will be back! The meatballs were a hit!

The menu is short which allows the kitchen to do what they do very well! Where else in town can you get excellent sushi and one of the top rated burgers in town at the same restaurant? I have tried most items on the menu as well as a few specials and never been disappointed. I have introduced many guests to R&D and all could not wait to go back.

No consistency of enforcement of new rule, no caps for men. Total BS for Sunday afternoon 2 pm. I was asked to remove my cap after seating, then 2 others are seated with caps and no mention to remove! Need a sign at front doors o! Will not return!

Simple menu, very clean interior design aesthetic, high quality food and equally high quality service make this one of our favorite places to go. It is consistent...consistently great! We have tried most everything on the menu, sat in every corner of the restaurant with a variety of servers, and have not been disappointed yet. Wish it were 2 miles from the house instead of 20. Worth the drive every time.

R + D Kitchen is a full of activity open concept dining experience with good food and attentive service. It has a very sizable bar that is surrounded by the rest of the dining room with full access to the entire menu. There is a small section that serves as sushi bar as well. The food is very good although we found the menu to be somewhat limited in the number of options available. But what they do have is inventive and very tasty and they have a full bar too.

Sophisticated casual place to celebrate, relax, chat Great drinks, best Ruben sandwich in the Southwest!! Super delish desserts Sit in or out, lively setting

When I went to R+D's kitchen, I found a diverse and delightful menu. Although there not too many choices, they were so mouthwatering that it was hard to choose. Because this is the Reserach and Development (thus R+D) for Hillstone restaurant, the menu changes fairly often. The servers are exceptional and eager to please. The chefs are cooking in view of the patrons, which is fun. In nice weather, you can eat outside on a patio. My very best advise is to order the chocolate Sundae. I am not a big fan of chocolate, however, the quality of the ice cream and divine chocolate sauce was so remarkable that I was enormously impressed. Next visit I may start with the Sundae.

Simple menu, very clean interior design aesthetic, high quality food and equally high quality service make this one of our favorite places to go. It is consistent...consistently great! Met old college friends for happy hour. We hadn't seen each other in a while so we really wanted three seats together. That was very difficult to get, but we finally were able to do so. Drinks were OK, but very expensive, and they made us buy food because they were worried that we'd get too drunk to drive being that we were having a mini-reunion. Not once did they ask us if we were taking a cab, Uber, Lyft, etc... All in all it was OK, service was OK, the presumptive nature that we were irresponsible drunk drivers was still OK because they probably get grief from the state patrol about over-serving customers. Hence the review - It's just OK

somewhat limited menu but they excel at what's on it! we dine in or take-out food from here weekly! drinks at the bar are awesome also -- they custom make their margarita mix daily.

It pains me to write this review, this has consistently been the best restaurant in Dallas. The food is always prepared with a certain excellence that only the main Chef Martine can deliver! The true essence of this gem has always been the smartest and most talented staff in the city. The bar staff are the best group of bar tenders in the city and have genuinely become what all of the routine regulars call family. My wife and I eat there 4 nights a week for the past 4 years and so look forward to seeing the brilliant crew every night. They always greet everyone with a smile and how can I help you. They range in tenure from 10 years to 3 years of service and were dedicated throughout the pandemic, and when all restaurants were struggling with staff they leaned on these core group to help and they did! They recently brought on a new GM who has single handedly ruined the culture person by person. She works by intimidating and a culture of fear she has taken zero time to get to know the patrons nor the staff. My wife and I watched the slow destruction for the last 4 months and firing of the best team in Dallas one by one. We don't intend on going back to this establishment and reward organizations that mistreat their dedicated staff. Chris, Jenni, Darrion, Ally, Audrey, Herani, Rebecca, Vishal, Brandon we are sorry for the culture that you are now subjected too. If we have learned one thing during this pandemic its to appreciate the best things in life and never knew we would find it here but we did and that was all because of you. Once the word gets out in Dallas I'm sure we will not be the only loyal regulars that will stop coming to this establishment that is no longer the unique neighborhood gem it used to be.

Great Place. Very upscale restaurant. Small menu but wonderful food and service. Highly recommend for dinner. The filet was fabulous and the chicken meat balls were great

We love this beautiful restaurant (a little noisy), and the great food. Simple menu with only great options on it. The sushi, the fried fish, the deviled eggs, the ahi tuna salad! All good at this restaurant.

Get there early ... it fills up. Patio is quiet in a good way. Booths are perfect for two ... though the lighting is a bit bright. Try the sushi rolls - very good!

Service, food, experience... always consistent. Staff is amazing. Very customer satisfaction focused.

This is one busy place expect a wait. The central bar is a good place to hang while you wait. On this occasion we all enjoyed some sort of salad entrée. My seared tuna salad entrée was superb, almost a Nicoise, but their own version. A Dallas buzz to it and not inexpensive but worthy of time and money

I have been here numerous times with consistent great food, cocktails and desserts. I recommend a reservation. The salads, burgers, and fish dishes are excellent.

We have at least one meal at R&D every time I'm in Dallas. Someone at the table always has the deviled eggs or the sushi for appetizers. The sandwiches are delicious -- we have to split the reuben -- always with fries.

Not a big menu, but something for everyone. Great choices that will fill yu. The Newporter, a pulled chicken salad, is a fulfilling and healthy meal. The French fries are worth coming here for. Great burgers and steaks , and a favorite is roast chicken. I stopped coming here because they wouldn't substitute sides that were on the menu, which infuriated me, but hopefully they are a more accommodating kitchen than that now. Great food , service is excellent.

This place takes everything serious from, sense of arrival, service, ambiance, decor and food and their commitment to excellence is consistently felt! A staple amongst friends for quality, affordability and evolution so you never bore of the menu as its constantly changing.

Great menu, excellent service, and fun environment!

Feels like you are on a yacht. The food is always fantastic. We usually have to wait for a table but the atmosphere is so fun you don't mind. Love to watch the sushi chefs at work

Located in the Twin Cities area this excellent restaurant has a variety of different type of food. from a delicious hamburger made with in-house baked bread, to great salads, sushi, grilled salmon, fish and steak. The service is amazing, and they also have an outside area should you like to eat outdoors. Recommend you make a reservation. Excellent for either lunch or dinner.

My favorite place to dine at R&D Kitchen in Dallas is at the bar. The barkeeps are attentive, educated about the wines and always professional. On my most recent visit with 2 friends we had several different dishes and split them all. We started with the Crunchy Shrimp roll - 6 pieces, steamed shrimp & chopped macadamia nuts for crunch. If you like sushi don't miss this, it's the best. Our second appetizer were the chicken meatballs - holy cow. Tender & delicious, served in a flavorful tomato sauce. For our mains we split the omelet, served with a side green salad and the Asian Chicken salad. The omelet - which we only ordered because it was recommended by Chef Robert, was made with goat cheese and spinach and cooked perfectly. The Asian Chicken is never a disappointment. Then of course we had to have the carrot cake to top it all off! This place stays busy, so your best bet is to go early or later -so you won't have to wait.

One of my favorites!! The quality of the food and service is always on point. Never disappointed. The Newporter Salad is my favorite. Always delicious and the freshest ingredients. Great atmosphere. A great place to meet for business or with friends.

Wonderful service and wine list. Great casual spot in Dallas! Relaxing atmosphere with great natural light. I would highly recommend, nice crowd of customers in fun walkable area to nearby shops.

Ordered Greek Chicken and tabbouleh. Too much mint in tabbouleh for me. Also ordered a main dish salad with chicken. Very good.

Good choice for a business lunch as the food is delicious and atmosphere energized. Menu is limited but that helps when making your decision as there aren't a lot of choices so you don't waste a lot of time reviewing the menu. Waiter said all food is fresh with in house making of buns and ground meat for burgers with 4 to 5 produce deliveries throughout the day to ensure freshness. If you want a more quiet environment request a table near the back and on the perimeter as it can be quite loud once filled with patrons. Great service, delicious meal, knowledgeable staff and friendly.

My second visit to this popular restaurant. The wait is lengthy at "the crush" hour unless your willing to jockey for a place at the bar. We lucked up and got placed at the chef's bar. HINT:these seats are the quietest in the restaurant. It was interesting to watch the food being prepared & realizing what a machine the place really is. As always the food was OFF THE CHARTS - GREAT. Their sushi fits my palette, salads are fresh & plentiful....and desserts.... WELL, there wasn't a bite left on the plate. We shared the banana creme pie....one word to sum it up - WOW. One word to sum up R & D overall - GO!

Atmosphere makes you feel like you have gone back in time: food makes you tummy happy! Shrimp is to die for and the slaw will leave you wanting more. The hush puppies are cooked to perfection. Parking is tricky but don't let that stop you from going. A gem among McKinney Avenue spots!

We sat at the bar for lunch, Megan did a great job taking care of us. Both of us had the pulled pork, kale, pickled onion, avocado sandwich.. It was absolutely delicious. I'm not sure if it is a regular menu item but it was amazing. Atmosphere is good.. Lively.. Fills up by noon though so try to get here a few minutes early to beat the rush!

We eat here often due to great food quality and consistent excellent service. Sushis are amazing....

We had brunch. The brunch menu was very short, which was rather disappointing. The lunch menu ,which was also presented, was more extensive, but we really wanted brunch food. Having said that, the spinach, goat cheese omelet was very tasty, although it was not very hot when served. Loved the grilled ciabatta toast and the green salad, as it had just the right combination of savory/sweet dressing over the frisee lettuce, golden beets and campari tomatoes. My husband ordered the ahi tuna salad and an avcado roll, wich were both perfectly prepared and plated. The Screwdriver was made with fresh squeezed orange juice and the Bloody Mary was a garden of fresh vegetables you could drink! Both were excellent! The service is efficient, but not overwhelming. We had made a reservation, so we didn't have to wait on this Sunday morning, but shortly after we arrive d at 11, the line was out the door. Fortunately, their wide-open kitchen is a fascinating study in culinary precision and I'm sure it makes the wait more tolerable. I would like to go back and sample the dinner menu, as the creativity is enticing!

I met a colleague here for lunch and came away as a waving fan. Their customer service is amazing...to the extent where EVERYONE will greet you with a smile and make eye contact with you. Little touches like that to make you feel welcome and that the staff wants to make your dining experience wonderful. They did. We both ate the Chicken Chop Salad. Great presentation, just the right portion, very fresh tasting. Wonderful blend of nuts, cheeses, fruit and roasted chicken (yes, there was cilantro.) it was served quickly - literally within 9 minutes of our order - during the midday rush. Quirky note: what's up with the small water glasses? Granted, all I had to do was to ask for a larger glass and was given it...just seemed really funny to have water served in a glass that is empty after one drink. I hightly recommend the R & D kitchen.

What a great place to have a nice, long and delicious lunch. Food is absolutely wonderful - staff courteous and warm, bar is fabulous - makes you want to linger and parking is convenient and pretty plentiful. Veggie burger was probably the best I've ever tasted along with the fries with sesame mayo for dipping. Drinks were served in a "tub" as we used to call it - generous and well made.(had a rye manhattan). Have got to go back soon.

This delightful restaurant with a delicious menu, delightful ambiance and excellent attentive service will delight.

R& D never disappoints. Their services and food is just phenomenal. Highly recommend everything on their menu!

We happened in to R & D to get a bite to hold us til dinner, and decided to split a burger. The burger was good, however there was a hair hanging out the side. Sooo, ok, it was replaced......fairly quick, Our server was lackadaisical (?) at best. We were at the restaurant through the change of shift at 5pm, which was also the time of my burger crisis. NO APOLOGY FROM THE WAITER, he told another server about the issue and promptly left. It would have been nice for him to let us know someone else was going to cover our table since his shift was over. For a $13 burger (fries not included) I would expect better service. Probably won't return.

I went with a few co-workers for dinner. The items on the menu are ala carte. The menu is varied with burgers, salads, sushi and entrées. The hamburger was huge and flavorful. I had a kale salad side which was very flavorful but rather expensive for a few cashews and some kale ($8). The service was very good and the waiter was extremely pleasant and patient. We did not feel rushed at all. Overall, this is a place I would go back to again if I were meeting associates for business. I don't really think this is a good place to take kids.

Vegetarian options are awful. That cold, flavorless avocado roll was BAD. The service was awful. The woman was obviously new. She asked us if we were ready to order 4 times in 10 minutes when we were clearly enjoying our drinks and talking. She then didn't understand that we didn't like the food and left it in front of us for 30 minutes. I used to love your restaurant. I will not be back.

On my last visit, while waiting for my table, I watched a young lady at the food island, repeatedly touch the food on customers plates. She did not wear gloves ( as the rest of the kitchen appeared to do), and interespersed her duties with time texting on her phone. She moved sushi around on one plate, rearranged a basket of fries, placed chips onto a plate....... Imagine if you were allergic to some food item, and she touched food from plate to plate. It was very difficult to watch.....

I went to this R&D kitchen because I absolutely love the menu and atmosphere at the one in Santa Monica. I was disappointed to learn that they did not have the chicken sandwich I loved from the other restaurant. The people who work their are nice and the patio is a great place to people watch.

On a friend's recommendation, I went to R+D last week with my mom. I loved it so much I went back last night. This casual, modern, popular restaurant and bar is absolutely worth a visit. I need to start with the food. The menu is simple, perhaps 10 main courses and about the same number of sides and dinner salads, with just a couple of appetizers on the list. At first, I was a bit disappointed, since other than a steak, most mains were sandwiches and salads. I had the pork carnitas sandwich and tabouleh, and my mom had the fried fish of the day. My sandwich was absolutely perfect. Moist pork, lightly seasoned, with slaw and I forget what else on a light but tasty bun. It was memorably good, taking all of about 3 minutes to inhale (it was big but I was in a craze). The tabouleh was equally delicious, and and had corn and tomato and a moist dressing on it, very good. My mom's fish was flaky and perfectly cooked. Since then we've had the slaw - perfect, not overly mayonaissed - and the spaghetti and chicken meatballs - very good. Also had the rubenesque sandwich, another masterpiece, and that was thoroughly enjoyable. We were at the bar for about 15 minutes and the place was crowded, but we were served quickly and seated in short order. My drink was substantial and well made. In fact, I asked that the same bartender fix my second drink, and she did. Once seated, our waitress was lovely, intelligent, responsive but not intrusive, and knew her stuff cold. The room is attractive though reminiscent of many modern DFW bars and restaurants. It reminded me of the vibe in Abacus' bar - lively, modern, fun, not overly pretentious. Prices were somewhat high, but moderate when compared to many similar restaurants in Dallas. Entrees were about 16-18, sides 5-8. Sushi, which we did not have, was priced comparably to other Dallas locales. It has a modest but fairly well rounded wine list with the major varietals covered. Prices seemed on par with most restaurants with a similar list. Drinks were 12-13 each, pricey but not out of line with comparable Dallas night life. It is so rare to have a meal where every bite has you singing the kitchen's praises. I highly recommend you try this place. Perhaps you will still be thinking about the food three days later.

Cheeseburger: expensive but delicious. Pressed sushi really good. Kale salad was exceptional. Throughout, the service was excellent. I left my phone. Our server (Stephanie?) ran across the parking lot (50 yards?) to bring it to me. My hero.

This place is always so good the service is spot on and the food is never disapointing. If you want to check out a great place to eat and have a great efficient meal this is the place.

We had a business meeting at R+D. The atmosphere was very eclectic. Food was average to above average. Had better and had worse.

Passing by the Preston area again and decided to try this place for lunch. Started with the dip duo, and the chips were made right. Thin and crunchy, dipped in salsa. We had the coconut shrimp rolls, and they tasted good. Made fresh, the shrimps were soft and tender. The greek-style chicken was tender and juicy too, the sauce compliments the meat well. A bit pricey, but you should try this place when you're in town.

Oh boy! I asked a friend to meet here for lunch on a Saturday at 3p. I assumed a lull between lunch and dinner. Wrong! The place was packed with a wait list! Excellent atmosphere. Open kitchen. Bright sunlight through windows. Excellent server and staff. Pressed sushi...Excellent! It's a pricey place which is expected in this neighborhood. One sushi roll cost $18 which was standard price and others cost more. That's my only issue. All else great!

In February, I stopped by to eat a late lunch alone and was a mess! I asked to be sit in a corner to hide. I just had an MRI and saw my doctor, and found out I had a stress fracture in my foot. I was wearing my new boot and feeling sorry for myself. My server was SO KIND and understanding. I babbled to her about why I was sad, and told her that I knew the Mediterranean salad with ahi tuna, dip duo and champagne would help. I felt so much better after having my favorite salad and other goodies. She gave me the check, I didn't look at it, and just handed over my card. When she returned, she said that they were going to comp my meal and hoped that I feel better. Talk about amazing customer service! I was not expecting a free meal, and it did make me feel better after a long day of bad news and doctors. This restaurant is always at the top of my list to bring friends and colleagues from out of town, and also for lunch and dinner any time. I highly recommend. By the way, I've been to the restaurant since February, but thought I'd share this extra special experience.

Really liked this place. Very buzzy bar area. Packed the mid-week night that we visited (we've also done lunch here a year ago). Food was excellent. Service was great - they even gave us complimentary puddings. We had a baby with us which we were a bit worried about but they were really accommodating. Quite loud which my in-laws didn't love but we thought was great. The booths would be perfect for a group of friends. Nice bar too.

First time at R+D and I very satisfied with the experience, both from a service point of view and the food. I had the salad with seared tuna, highly recommended. Next time in Dallas I will return.

We had lunch here and I meet others occasionally for business lunches and consistently good food and excellent t service. I like the salmon. Nice atmosphere.

This was a miserable experience. This restaurant is not children friendly. We were invited to leave when one of the kids squealed with excitement. The manager was insincere and should have warned us before we were seated that they had a no small children policy. Avoid if you have small kids. Really sad.

Horrible experience. Entitled hostess on March 16, 2025 was the worst. (The irony of her job) if you are seeking a pleasant, friendly, open-to-all experience I would NOT recommend this place. I have to think it comes from management but she was a terrible person.

We love the R+D Kitchen (and have been to three other locations in CA--but overall, there aren't many). Food is always fresh, tasty, and presented well. Service is friendly and right there when needed. Their greeter always remembers us and welcomes us. Love the atmosphere. Always great! I will say "not sure" re "kids," in meaning here that we always expected ours, when young (they are young adults now) to behave respectfully when in a restaurant. I don't buy "let kids be kids" if that gives them a bye to be loud, run around, or be disruptive. If kids can handle it and not make a scene, then I'd say they are welcome. If unruly, leave them home (just my opinion--ask the restaurant). It's hip, classy, and comfortable, so I appreciate it when we can enjoy our meal. It is not a sushi restaurant per se, but it is on the menu; my husband often orders it. Their sushi, he says, is fresh and beautifully presented.

Fun atmosphere, football games on TV and a Fabulous Rueben sandwich and great Texas beers on draft!!

This is another restaurant owned by Hillstone Corporation this is the third time I’ve been here. I enjoy the atmosphere and the restaurant menu isn’t extensive just like their other restaurants. Which I like . We weren’t very hungry so we didn’t eat much we had a couple of different types of sushi which were decent. We had a dip duo which included guacamole and a cold cheese queso dip with fresh chips which was wonderful. The service was good, but each time I leave their wanting a little bit more and I just don’t seem to get it. I’ll keep visiting but it’s just not that impressive the menu doesn’t change very often. It’s a little better than average and the ingredients are definitely quality.

We were visiting Dallas and were recommended this restaurant. Although we could not get a reservation they were very accommodating. We could have gotten a table but choose to sit at the bar. We watched the bar tenders mixology skills, great people watching. Although the menu is small it is delicious. Great sushi. My husband had the mushroom meatloaf and mashed potatoes...... Yum. The kale salad was extraordinary as was the sushi. Very warm and friendly staff. The banana cream pie with chocolate and carmel........ Need I say more.

Excellent restaurant located close to North Park in Dallas. Great ambiance, very nice bar. Outside table available dining, weather permitting. Food for all tastes, From a delicios hamburger, to sushi, steak or fish. Delicious bread baked on the premises. Delicious deserts. Dress is casual.

Always a fun restaurant with consistent good food! Great service , really good cocktails and great atmosphere ! I had the pressed sushi and my husband had the Chinese chicken salad. Both were excellent 😊

R&D kitchen is good, but not great. Easier to get in than Hillstone across the parking lot, which is a good point. As with all the restaurants in the Hillstone group menu is limited and they are rigid. Tried to substitute their Fashion Square Cole slaw (heavy mayo - think thousand island dressing) on the Ham and Cheese sandwich - for their better regular Cole slaw. No way!. But they will hold the fashion square slaw and you can pay $7 for a side of regular slaw and put it on your sandwich yourself - just very silly! Caraway seed bread on the sandwich was a bit overpowering. Dings chicken sandwich was very good - $19 dollars and another $7 if you want w/ fries. Tuna mango sushi role was just OK - mango extremely firm. Service was very efficient

Rather stumbled here as a last moment change of plans, and oh my ! So glad the accidental stop. As today is my birthday wanted a new place with my wife and daughter. We were all completely satisfied, as my wife nearly consumed the entire Rueban, made with coleslaw. The daughter is a vegetarien and so enjoyed vegan sushi then the cashew kale salad. For me, the Osaka style sushi is a unique twist and satisfies with the chili mayo. So good....nom nom nonm... Then the ahi tuna salad for me, and the presentation was simple, elegant and wonderful. Go back in a heartbeat. The finale is the banana cream with carmel sauce, topped with fresh crema. yup...really really nice. We ate a late lunch on the patio, and even a cool day was warmed with cieling heaters...yup... go check this place out. Wait if you need. Be happy...Cheers, tj

I appreciate a menu with fewer entrées done excellent as opposed to pages upon pages of a crapshoot choice. Such was my experience tonight. While I found an omelette on the dinner menu different, it was to die for and all I had was a taste. I had the Reuben and it was delicious. The slaw had a distinctive taste that I couldn't identify but was very happy with. Having dinner with friends and our waiter was very patient as we caught up over cocktails. Service never interrupted our conversation and dinner was on the table very quickly. Food, service and ambiance, all very nice.

Service was phenomenal, food was fantastic and the atmosphere was fabulous! It's a definite win! Get there early, at 11:15 the place was jam packed, but it's worth the wait!

We've been going to R&D for years. Always great. The chocolate fudge sundae was the best we've ever had. We bring guests and clients here for that. Last night was awful. The sundae had different ice cream, different pecans and, we think, different hot fudge. We didn't finish it. What happened? Why mess with perfection? Cutting costs?

This was my second time to R&D but my first review . The first time I sat at the bar and wasn’t too impressed, this visit was a lot better . The hostess was very friendly and all smiles and seated us promptly, we were there at 11:30am and it was starting to get busy . Our server was prompt to the table and took our drink order . She was very friendly. I had a wonderful Asian noodle salad inside a half carved iceberg head of lettuce. It said it had a peanut dressing or peanuts ...which I never noticed. The wonton crisps and noodles were good. It had cucumber in it and cilantro I believe . It was very fresh but had a bit too much dressing to my liking . The chicken was good and tender .My date had the rainbow roll (sushi) and he said it was wonderful. It was beautifully presented. I wish I would have taken a photo . Our waters were kept full by others following and flowing by. We finished with a latte and the chamomile tea. The server suggested the banana cream pie, which was perhaps the best I have had, the crust was lovely and it had fresh whipped cream on top. Sliced bananas with a type of caramel drizzle I Believe surrounded it. I will definitely be going back. It is a bit loud in there and besides the service being a bit mechanical feeling, overall it was a good experience.

R&D is supposed to be the testing kitchen for Houston's but the Houston's menu changes far more often than R&D. That aside, great, consistently good food and very attentive service.

This is a very hip restaurant and bar . You must try the pulled pork nachos and the beet margaritas ! We sat at the bar and really enjoyed the fantastic bartenders ,young ,hip ,cool spot and priced well. Make a reservation ,it is always packed on Lower Greenville .

Great service at bar and dining room. Second time to this restuarant. The food quality was very good.

The guacamole is fabulous. The little kernels of corn give you those pops of sweet. Who ever heard of corn in guacamole?!? Well, it works and deliciously.

We ate here on a Friday night and they were busy. Make reservations. The cheeseburger and ruebenesque (not sure of the spelling) were very good. I wish there were more fries, that would be my only complaint. All the wait staff were attentive and friendly. We will be back.

A very popular and classy restaurant. Make sure to get a reservations. It can get busy during lunch and dinner time.

They used to have hot bartenders named Jonathan. ... why deprive us? Love me some R&D but love scrumptious bartenders too.

I've been here a few times for lunch and dinner and it is OK. Nothing special, but OK. Sometimes this is the best you can do when all other places are full. Would not go out of my way to eat here.

Wonderful food, drinks, and atmosphere. We had a great time. The food choices were great. When in Dallas by all means go ! Price a bit high but well worth it.

After reading reviews, I wanted to try this place out. R+D is in the same family of restaurants of Bandaras(which we do not have in Dallas) and it is exceptional. The ambiance is very nice and food was very tasty. The deviled eggs are good like other reviews say they are. The Bar didn’t have Pisco Sour on their menu, so I order another drink, which was recommended. Overall very good, but a bit pricy.

Fantastic place and experience. We sat in a booth on the level above the bar. Our server Lily could not have been nicer. Our food-coconut shrimp sushi, salmon entree and Asian chicken noodle salad were all delicious. We never waited for service but were never rushed. A great place

An amazing experience at a restaurant which had been highly recommended to me. R+D is known for their deviled egg appetizer, which was absolutely delicious. The wine list is brief but the choices were excellent. Our server, Deborah, knew the wine list and food selections well, and was extremely attentive. The carnitas sandwich was scrumptious, with the cole slaw and avocado on a homemade bun making every bite an event. The French fries were light and tasty. A very pleasant atmosphere with friendly staff. The menu is small, but if every item is as outstanding as the carnitas, then it is because they are focused on quality rather than quantity. I cannot wait to return!

great night, good food. very relaxed atmosphere, smaller menu with nice variety of choices. very impressed with service

Very classic menu that never changes. Salads are wonderful. Sushi is the best in Dallas. It is all good.....Outstanding service. Decor is sort of like being in Aspen or some resort in Colorado. Very nice. Good crowd of people always very busy has a good vibe and great outdoor seating. Also good place to eat solo. The have several food bars, central location to Park City area

We love sitting at the bar watching both the flurry of servers and patrons alike. The menu is small and relatively simple, but don't be fooled--the food is excellent! The sushi appetizers are always fresh and very tasty. They have several good entrees from which to choose and we have tried most of them. It is a place at which you will nearly always have at least a short wait which I see as a testament to how good it is.

The food here is excellent. The menu is concise but varied. The drinks are wonderful. The place is bustling and lively. And the management let the ill-behaved children of the "I'm special" patrons run the place. So if you get a good seat at the bar, looking out the window, you'll see brats scampering all over the outside fountain, screeching like they were at the beach - so avoid the bar and certainly don't sit outside!. If you get a comfortable booth inside along the wall, the booth behind you will have brats racing each other along the entirety of their booth, screaming at each other while their "my kids are special" mom's sip their wine and ignore both the kids and you. Management seems immune to this insult to those of us who made a reservation and paid for a babysitter. This place is expensive. If they want to have a day care center, or be an "I'm special" mother's day out they should advertise their playtime hours. Otherwise, when I'm paying top dollar at a top restaurant, I expect - and deserve - to enjoy the experience sans the Chuck E Cheese atmosphere this place has devolved to.

We sat near the kitchen, and from that vantage point, we had a very good view to watch everyone at work. Food was good!

Great food, great service, great atmosphere! We stopped in for drinks and appetizers and were pleasantly surprised.

I think the best items on the menu are the sushi and seafood salad options - so fresh and presented with amazing flavor! We ordered the thai tuna, rainbow, and nigiri and all were delicious. The cocktails are fun but pricey. The Mediterranean tuna salad is incredible with seared tuna, goat cheese, heirloom tomatoes, and olives. It's a fairly simple menu and some of the items were sold out at 8 pm so come prepared to be flexible. Also a hopping place on a Saturday night so we were seated 30 minutes after our reservation.

We went with family for lunch and it was out first time visiting the restaurant. Everything well exceeded our expectations—including food and ambiance and service. The cheeseburger was one of the best I have ever had anywhere. Pastrami sandwich was also deliciously prepared. Would definitely return the next time we visit Dallas.

We met a friend at R+D Kitchen at the friend's suggestion. We had driven by the restaurant before and liked the look of the restaurant. We ate outdoors and liked the atmosphere. The brunch food was very good, but you do not get much food for the cost. I was surprised how little tuna that I was given on the kale cashew salad with tuna, but the taste was very good. The only real issue was that we had not even been there 45 minutes when all our plates were removed, after they asked multiple times if they could remove our plates before we were finished. However, at about 50 minutes, the staff abruptly removed our glasses without asking us and made it clear that they were ready for us to relinquish the table. When we left soon thereafter, it was surprising that they did that as there was not anyone that we could see waiting. The restaurant seems to be a good location, so I hope that they can make a few updates to make it even better for people to enjoy eating there.

Again. Good place to dine. Good vibe. Great sushi. Service is lackluster... Another Hillstone property, so I tend to expect more . I will still go often in the hopes it will get better. I’m not a huge sushi fan and they do it EXTREMELY well. A bit loud on occasion. Dining at the bar is nice. Be sure and ask For Randy. Top notch bartender. Salads are good as is the Queso and Guacamole duo, great crispy chips .

Very great place to eat in dallas texas and excellent food and service !!; will be back here again !!

Great place, lovely staff, good food but for a 10oz draft beer and a house vodka soda to be over $20 is mighty expensive........in my book!

One of my favorite eateries in Dallas. The Sushi is great. Fantastic salads, and truly the best burgers I've ever tasted. Their entrees and desserts are superb as well. A definite "must try!"

Love this place! The food is outstanding, the ambiance is wonderful and the service is excellent. Try he Duo Dip for an appetizer. I usually get the Newporter salad, but the sushi is fabulous as well. This is always a comeback for me.

When I moved to Dallas, a friend invited me to lunch at R+D. I ordered her favorite salad, the Newporter, and I keep going back! It is simply delicious with a just right inspiration of flavors and textures on crisp kale lettuce and succulent rotisserie chicken. Every time I order the salad, it delivers the same appreciative response. Another friend is devoted to the Asian Chicken salad. I have returned for dinner with my husband and enjoyed flavorful sushi and lovely glasses of wine. The service is impeccable--friendly, professional and consistent. I enjoy eating on the patio, at the bar or in a booth. Hostess Melanie greets guests with warmth and charm. I would take any friend to this restaurant and am always thrilled to find an occasion to dine at R+D.

Great bar filled with adults having conversation! Unique atmosphere, very open space with plenty of chairs around a large bar. Filled with adults talking yet still not too noisy! Great service and lots of bar food style appetizers to enjoy. Small but cute outdoor patio for fall! Very limited dinner menu, but perfect local spot to enjoy a drink and a snack after work with other adults.

Great unique yet simple menu choices, like pulled pork, fries and sushi. Very nice atmosphere. A treat every visit to Dallas. A big thumbs up!

We eat here at least every other week. Service food and atmosphere are always satisfying. i jump around the menu and eat different things and they are always excellent. the staff is efficient and friendly and though some areas are noisier than others there is not a bad seat in the house including the bar. The wine list though it is not superior there is always a selection to go with the meal.

The room is very nice. All booths - no tables - but that is for very comfortable seating. Conversation is easy with that type of seating arrangement. Ceiling is wood so acoustics are good and you can hear your table-mates. The food was good - well presented and the wait staff was accommodating.

The food here is consistently well-prepared and presented, and the service is top-notch. There's usually a bit of a wait, but it's well worth it. There's something for everyone. You won't be disappointed.

We loved the high end, professional and courteous service and the food selections. Two out of three are vegetarians and there were many choices. It is a beautiful restaurant. We enjoyed appetizers, lunch entree and drinks. We will be back for more.
A Must!
OMG..I love devil eggs and they were good, but the coconut shrimp was incredible. I am not a sushi lover so when it came out I was about to turn my nose up to it, but it was NOTHING like sushi. It was some of the best I have had and it was different. The Pork sandwich was also GREAT!
