Brunch.

Sit at the bar. Watching the line work was quite a treat. The attention to detail and quality really shows. Without a doubt, a great experience.

Mississippi Surprise

By Margaret U |

With no real destination in mind for dinner we stumbled onto Radar PDX. The dishes are very creative and flavors. While we were waiting for or plates to arrive they offered us a sample of chickpeas with a wonderful seasoning with a little kick to it. They were crunchy and warm having been cooked in a light sesame oil. The Pimento Potatoes and Fried Cauliflower were a wonderful surprise of flavors and textures for the same old same old. We sat in one of the windows and enjoyed a great view of what was going on up and down the street as well as in the restaurant it self. We can hardly wait to return with friends and family.

Small Plates

By jalepeno4 |

We ate at the bar and watched the food being prepared, which was fun. The cooks bantered with us and explained the ingredients. All the dishes came quickly. They were unique and tasty. Excellent selection of beer on tap. Terrific salads. The servers were friendly and knowledgable. The desserts were out of this world. Pricing was reasonable. The only negative to the radar experience was that most of the entrees were fried.

A Good Place for Solo Dining

By Janemccall |

I sat at the bar, which is my preference when I’m on my own. Entertained watching the cooks in action. Had mussels and frites. Mussels were nice and plump and the frites were excellent. They cheerfully supplied me with some garlic mayo. My only complaint was that there was no bread to soak up the yummy sauce.

A real treat

First time visiting and was really impressed. Best Escargots I have had in Portland. Atmosphere was high energy and overall a must try. Different dishes but all great. Will be back for sure!

Foodies delight

By 4ofusbgg |

The food was excellent, tasty and fun! We were fortunate because we walked right in and sat down...no wait. The service, however left a bit to be desired. Our coffee was only refilled once and that was after flagging down our server. I'm not sure we would return simply based on the service as there are so many fantastic restaurants in Portland to be discovered!

Cauliflower fritters so good!

By Amy R |

and I don't even like cauliflower! This restaurant has big dishes but also a lot of small plates that can be ordered to share (which is what we did). Good food, some inside seating, some outside, very neighborhood feeling, and nice staff.

Great , Quaint Place

By Steven M |

Wow - a lot more than I expected. Neat, quaint space on Mississippi ave. we have been told that this place has great food at reasonable prices - all of our friends were correct. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu and food preparation. Don't miss the deviled eggs and pork shoulder. The risotto and chanterelles was out of this world - perfectly cooked and creamy. The brisket was perfectly cooked and cut - just enough fat to keep the meat moist and delectable. This is a wonderful place with reasonable prices - they really care about the food. Atmosphere/vibe: 18/20 - tables are a little tight Food- 38/40 - a little salty on the pork shoulder Staff: 20/20 Value: 20/20 Total: 96/100

Delightful

By Mary-Loves-Paris |

Table for four on the sidewalk - delightful experience. Our friends raved about the oysters. The vegetarian options are legit, albeit a little pricey. Mississippi is about to pop, and so I'm reluctant to let you know what a fun place this is for fear it becomes Hawthorne. Go now before this gets crazy.

On our next visit to Portland, we will definitely return to Radar!

By Guy B |

As out-of-towners, we were taken to Radar by friends and immensely enjoyed the experience. My wife was delighted by the herbed French toast, $13; and I had their wonderful roast vegetable hash (Yukon gold potatoes, root vegetables, herbs, poached egg), $12. Whoever prepared the hash is a master of his or her craft: simply delicious! And, by the way, for those who care about their coffee, and I do, the coffee was excellent. On our next visit to Portland, we will definitely return to Radar!

Search no more...

What can I say? This place makes me incredibly happy. Oysters with cucumber sriracha, HUGE escargot, crazy amazing peppers and the most delicious sweet potato dumplings. Sure, the wine was flowing. Yes, the aura of the place is fabulous. Service was completely amazing. No big deal. Just the best meal I've had in a long time. And this is not my first time I've enjoyed Radar.

Great place to eat

By Daibhidh62 |

What an excellent restaurant - best we visited on our short trip to the States. Great food, beautifully cooked and presented, really nice ambience and fantastic music selection too! Really hope we can get back there one day.

Lovely food and great people

By serameverywhere |

Lovely restaurant and delicious food. Pork chop will be one of the great item to try. Variety of options for starters and all good. Open kitchen in the middle of restaurant and that is really cool. Chef John (should be right with the name) is great and even super busy he had time to talk to customers. Good craft beer as usual in Portland. Child friendly and would recommend to make table reserve to avoid disappointment.

yummy and fun

By Teresa M |

Woozy tongue

By Cap'n_Crunchy |

My wife and I were waiting on a long line outside Gravy for breakfast a few days ago and thought, "Hey, Portland is bursting with great restaurants; why are we waiting anywhere?" So we walked a few doors down and slipped into Radar, which wouldn't have a line for another half hour or so. MAN am I glad we did! This might have been the best breakfast in the history of fast breaking. The menu has a section that offers, among other tempting things, an 'any three' items list, so we each went with our own selection. My wife had grits, collard greens and poached eggs all of which were perfectly prepared and awesome. I had the BEST French toast (challah bread, too much butter and perfect syrup), the BEST potato pancake (latke style with applesauce and sour cream - honestly just like my old-country grandmother in the Bronx used to make) and a pair of eggs scrambled with some kind of cheesy herbalness that made my tongue woozy. The whole mess was washed down with delicious, strong coffee. The service was also amazing. My wife claims she saw tears in my eyes as I ate. I guess this would be an enthusiastic recommendation.

Great food servers recommended Great choices

By Soutahhospitality |

I loved this place. I'll definitely come back if I'm ever in Portland again. We had an appetizer, soup, entrees and dessert and I regret nothing. Loved absolutely everything that we tried. The bread pudding was heaven and definitely a show stopper. Next level stuff haha

Delectable food, cozy atmosphere, friendly staff.

By maryjoo279 |

My friend and I went to Radar as part of Portland dining month, which runs for month of March. The set menu for three courses was $33.00 per diner. My friend had the butternut squash soup with an oyster as her appy. It was delicious. I had the crab and arugula salad, served on a soft white cheese. Fabulous! Braised calf cheeks on creamy polenta for Shannon. I had the scallops on creamy cauliflower, with roasted cauliflower and fennel. Yum! Dessert consisted of a divine chocolate mousse. We HAD TO TASTE THE SALTED BLACK LICORICE ICE CREAM! The rest of the dinner could have been awful, but been redeemed by that ice cream. The reason for four stars, not five, were the smallish portions. But...that’s why we could split the second dessert. Beer was $6 cider $6, wine $8 up.

Excellent Sunday Brunch

By Molly M |

Food was perfect, atmosphere delightfully urban and wait staff attendant but not fussy. A great meal.

Fantastic brunch

By H B |

Waited 5 years to do brunch here. The fish dishes are awesome and a change from the normal brunch faire. It’s worth the wait and a great deal. I will not wait this long for my next visit. Howard B.

Great food, great cjef

By Craig K |

My wife and I chose to eat at radar after walking the neighborhood. Service was okay but the food was excellent. We sat up at the bar next to the chef as he put dishes together. It gave us a great opportunity to see what looked good. We also asked the chef what he would recommend tonight and he didn't disappoint. Food was great.

Delicious Tapas

By dexter1953 |

Visited Radar for dinner on our first night on a (3) girl’s weekend in Portland. We ordered and shared devilled eggs 3 ways, house gravlax, crispy Yukon gold potatoes, and brussel sprouts (twice). Everything was absolutely delicious, especially the brussel sprouts! We had salted black licorice ice cream and spiced pot de creme for dessert - again fabulous! The service was great too. Would highly recommend. Make a reservation before you go as it’s a small space. Only took a photo of the gravlax as too busy savoring all the other dishes!

Best Small Plates

By DonSE |

One of the best small plate places anywhere, including Madrid and Barcelona. Radar is not necessarily Spanish either. Just some wonderful imaginative dishes. The owners are super people and so welcoming. We always try to get to Radar when in Portland. We took friends there and it is now their favorite place in town.

Interesting small plates

By carole l |

Lots of interesting choices. We had some small plates and shared a "large plate" of beef cheeks as we were there for dinner. Really liked the deep fried cauliflower. I noticed a lot of comments about poor service. We were there were around 5:30, and the service was very prompt and friendly. My only issue was that seating for two is mainly on stools at raised tables, not my favorite, but I can see that it's a good use of space in a small area.

Quaint small place

By janiebGarland |

Great place for a quiet dinner, very nice staff, food was good with great flavors. Hubby had the pork and really enjoyed. I ordered the grilled trout, it was seasoned just right. Wish would expand dessert menu, only offer ice cream. Parking can be a problem, so look down a side street. Would definitely go back.

go here

By kimcyb |

Excellent restaurant. I could go on and on about the dishes I tried, but you simply need to stop in and try them for yourself. Every bite was delish!

Not a breakfast person... BUT this is awesome, I can get non breakfast-ish stuff!

By Beth F |

Little spot, cute atmosphere & DELISH food/cocktails. Service was good.... Happy pappy! I had a potato veggies mash w/mushroom gravy - awesome! My son had the Marrow & eggs - he loved it! Fun cocktail menu too.

Great place to get great service and food

By Aspen86 |

Owner is awesome. We went with friends and the restaurant made us feel like everything was done just for us, just keep bringing us dishes to try and all were delicious and very tasty. Fish and chicken entree very good. Cauliflower is a definite order. Would recommend.

Should over the Radar.

By Jefftimb |

Lily and John the owners are charming and professional in operating their amazing Restaurant. What a treat to sit at the counter chat with John as he prepares delicious dishes.I started with deviled eggs, sound mundane, no way, seasoned with sardines, mild peppers and bacon. My Wife ordered the arugula salad, simply outstanding. We Next shared the shoulder pork dish, a complete winner. We ended our food festival with clams, no let down. All in all , a perfect dinner. Go there soon, because when the word gets out, it will be a long wait for a seat at the counter. But I assure ,worth the wait.

Great ambiance. Creative foods

By Tony B |

Excellent choice for an intimate dinner experience "Portland style" or even a business dinner (they have a couple large tables for 6+). Food selection is quite creative and with food pairings that are both unique yet well-presented. Sharing a few appetizers is highly recommended.

Generous, fresh, tasty brunch

By Damian C |

We thought it was a 'small plates' place bc everything was about ~8-12 dollars. Thankfully our server let us know that the portions are very adequate. We both had the bluefish pâté to start; it was smoky and salty, and the accompaniment of deviled eggs and vinegar soaked vegetables helped even out the taste (along with the toast points). I went with the pork shoulder and grits; a nice smoky and spicy sauce over fresh hominy grits; they were lukewarm but the meat was hot and tender and tasty. She went with the super crunchy latkes, applesauce and crèmre fraiche side portion (our server told us that the regular portion is a good amount more. Threw in a cocktail and a tea and we were in at $44 for tip. A great deal for a great brunch!

Great food service could improve

By pfaiello15 |

Nice place in the Mississippi area of Portland. Great small plates and bar. The table service needs to improve but overall quite good

Good food, nonchalant to poor service

By Senior2004 |

People who view good service as essential to a fine dining experience need to keep moving down the road. Radar is not your place. Apparently being a hip Millenial establishment doesn't require stellar service, or even average service. That being said, and after waiting 40 minutes to even order drinks, when our food arrived most of it was outstanding. Of particular note were the brisket sliders and brick chicken. Excellent! However, I'll be checking out the competition next time in Portland. Enjoy! You have been warned...

Where you want to be! Love this place, great vibe, great food, great staff.

By Craig33viaje |

The Mississippi area is jumping with restaurants and options and Radar is great choice. Lots of small tables and bar space. Nice selection of specialty cocktails, appetizers and deliciously fresh local entrees. Certainly someplace I'll go back to. Probably not the best place for parties larger than 6. I really liked this place and will recommend it to everyone.

Exceptionally tasty, shareable food and gracious service

By Jordana P |

Our son chose Radar to pre-celebrate his 23rd birthday since Mom and Dad were footing the bill. From start to finish, the meal was well worth it and, I might add, fairly priced. We were seated indoors, well spaced from other diners in the window nook where we could comfortably watch the Mississippi-street pedestrian traffic. Radar's interior decor is quite inviting with high, wood beamed ceilings and a long brick wall covered with large oval mirrors that make the narrow space seem more spacious. There are 4 -5 outdoor patio tables street side as well. The alt-indie music selection was at just the right decibel level. My husband and son both enjoyed their signature Night Owl cocktails- and the Sangarita (tequila, red wine, cocci rosa, fruit) cocktail looked tempting as the capable bartender layered it up. The menu, featuring farm fresh forward offerings, was pretty limited and mostly consisted of Snacks and Smaller Plates. We ultimately ordered about half of the menu and all of the selections were DELICIOUS. The shareable portions are generous and pair unique ingredients and flavors such as the Chanterelle & Lobster Mushrooms with granny smith apple, maple roast squash, pepitas, frisee, poached egg and parmesan for $18. The roasted radishes were tastily carmelized with brown butter ($7) and the Line-caught Swordfish ($28) on the Larger Plate offering was a delectably cooked, generous piece of fish swimming in a fruity kalamata tapenade with huge chunks of meaty, tasty yukon golds. We were too full for dessert though the offerings looked divine. The service was very gracious and highly capable. We look forward to returning and testing out the other half of the menu and sampling more of the signature cocktails!

Wow

By John J |

You pull up to Radar and there are biker bars on the left and right. Get to your table, get a rundown on the menu, have a drink, and you are about to be treated to a wonderful evening. John was our waiter and he had designed a lot of their cocktails. This was our first visit and we had to learn the program. Lots of small/smaller plate to share as well as some big time plate. roasted carrots were outstanding. Deviled eggs wonderfully tasty. Bluefish pate unbelievable. Mussels and risotto outstanding.wines by the glass reasonable and drinks are creative. We will be back!

Absolutely delicious food

By JandPfrancophiles |

A wonderful meal at Radar. French-inflected small plates and mains: cauliflower fritters, heirloom and watermelon salads, bluefish pate with great pickled vegetables, poutine, and steak frites. Wine list not enormous but some excellent choices. A bit noisy but we had an excellent table in the front window, so were able to converse without shouting. We will return next time we visit Portland.

Everything was perfect

Great food, cocktails, wine and service. Great selection of interesting food choices. We ordered many items on the nenue and all were wonderfull

Don't miss the oysters or the wine recommendations-

By jbsixtyfive |

In from out of town. recommended by Portlandians with good reason. The fresh oysters and the special sauce are superb. Customer service focused combined with a delicious menu for all palates.

Pleasantly surprised & exactly what we needed

By TY B |

Coming off of a very intense retreat with my partner, a clean, trendy but low key restaurant with alcohol is all I searched for (except of course for the great trip advisor rating). RADAR could not have been more perfectly suited for what we were looking for AND both ladies that tended to us were very sweet, soft spoken, well educated about the food, attentive but not overbearing. Best part was that the food was delicious - the pork shoulder & grits, the sweet cheeks, the radish appetizer, the olives, the crafted beer and their specialty drink all well exceeded our expectations!

Small plates plus one large

By Sheri T |

First, we arrived during the Happy Hour so some wines and small plates were nicely priced. Our Pinot Grigio and Tempranillo were great. up ordered three small plates, bread and duck confit- plenty of food. Butter has a healthy dose of sea salt. Service was appropriate and relaxed and we were in no hurry. The pulled pork was nice- could have had more sauce. The common theme of other sauces was “bland tomato.” Don’t count on a lot of duck- and it was less tender than most confit. It was more like roasted duck. The unfortunate part is the dinner was too much salt. Confit is usually a bit salty but the spatzele was seriously over salted. I watched the chef use salt pretty generously on other dishes. I mentioned the salt to the waiter and our coffee was comped. We liked the ambience and the service so we’ll give Radar another chance sometime.

Well rounded small plates menu, efficient and convivial service

By MARIA D |

Very enjoyable evening for a party of four, all of whom ordered a series of small plates. Each of the choices was a gem--from the sweet roasted radishes, the deviled egg three ways accommodated to four, to the coffee and cocoa braised short ribs served with a delectable lightly pickled jicama, and New England gnocchi (clams, bacon and a savory selection of herbs in white wine broth). We really enjoyed the chorizo stuffed squid--just the right amount of spice not to overwhelm the squid. The only disappointment was that we didn't have room for dessert! While we selected only about a quarter of their options, we are ready to return anytime to try the other quarters. And we really look forward to trying brunch on Sat-Sun! The venue isn't large, has a kind of techno-chic atmosphere. There was pleasant music but not so loud that it interfered with conversation. The chairs are metal which isn't conducive to sitting around chatting. The wine selection was good. There were many appealing cocktails described on the menu and several choices of cider, beer, and homemade sodas.

Kind of odd service, but still good.

By tfizzle |

Food is solid here and the moules frites were excellent and I should have ordered another fry. Interesting, sat at the bar and was the only person in the place and didn't get a sniff from the bartender. Then a server came over and asked what beverage I wanted, I ordered a beer, he put the order in, the bar keep poured it, not 2 feet from me, and then put it at the end of the counter for the host to pick up and deliver. He could have just gave it to me and said hello or welcome or enjoy.....

Clams Casino is a Must Try

By KendraTravels |

Cute little trendy restaurant with exposed brick walls and lots of mirrors. Friendly staff. The prices are a bit more than I would have liked but I'm happy with my experience. The clams casino were on dinner special for $12. I thought I was going to get something that would at least hold me a little but it was literally 3 clam shells. However, they were excellent! Full of flavor and I've not tasted anything like them before. I wish I could have had 9 of them that would have been perfect. Since it was so small of a portion, I went ahead and ordered the cocoa braised short ribs. The presentation was nice, the meat was tender but the flavor was lacking. Maybe they should have started with some kosher salt. That would have helped. I finished with the pear cobbler. It wasn't the greatest and it could have used more ice cream. I had a cocktail "no name, yet". It was amazing! If you like whiskey, it's a must try. The only feedback I have is that the service was pretty slow. Perhaps it wouldn't seem that long if you were with someone. Since I was alone, it was a noticeable wait. Very good experience overall.

Excellent Restaurant Month menu

By TerisTravels2 |

Went during restaurant month. Excellent menu. Fantastic service. Go if you can as the $30 price tag is well worth the value. The menu was fantastic.

Excellent food and service

By Anthea K |

We went to Radar for brunch and already want to return! Great staff, fantastic bloody mary and tasty food. The pork shoulder is delicious!

Everything was flavorful, imaginative, surprising, and fresh.

By Blkdog1 |

The service staff as friendly and efficient. The food was flavorful, imaginative, surprising, and fresh. We started with very tasty cocktails and ended with amazing house made ice creams. The spiced fries garbanzo beans were a delightful suprise.

Fun place for good food

By chicubby |

this is a very lively bar-restaurant. Not a lot of tables so if you are a party of 4 or more be sure to make reservations. The menu is very creative and all the food we ordered was great. The sevice was great and everyone was very friendly and considerate. We ordered many plates to share and enjoyed them all. The only downside for me was that the wine list is somewhat limited though they have excellent craft beers and mixed drinks. Definitely a fun place to go.

looked inside and went in on a whim

By Teresa M |

we hadn't tried radar, and stopped in on a whim for lunch...i had a rainier, and my partner had a cocktail with decaf and pear brandy i think...hit the spot...i had the CHEVRE AND HERB OMELETTE GREEN SALAD, and she had the CHILAQUELES BLACK BEANS, AVACADO, SALSA VERDE, CREMA, RADISH...both were delicious...only complaint is that the green salad was arugula...wish some lettuce was included too...the server was friendly and quick...it was very busy, but we were seated quickly...

Fun, Imaginative and Delicious!

By LarryHBendOR |

Our first dinner at Radar after hearing so much about it. We were greeted at the door by co-owner Lily and seated at the bar so we could watch Chef (and the other co-owner) Jonathan prepare many fine dishes. We started our dinner with a signature cocktail which was unique and refreshing, and the Deviled Egg Three Way appetizer, which was a delight. For dinner we shared a salad and two plates which was the perfect amount for us and it was all delicious. Everything was prepared with care and nicely presented. We really enjoyed the atmosphere which was lively but not too loud to have a conversation. We look forward two our next dinner at Radar.

You should "vector in" on Radar

By Allen C |

This is a newer restaurant in the Mississippi area of Portland. The food is varied and exceptional. The staff is friendly and very attentive. This place is very small so make sure you RSVP, we didn't but still got in because the staff wanted to make it work for us "thank you" to them. Parking on Mississippi is very tight so expect to walk a couple blocks, that's not a bad thing though because there are many things to see and experience there.

Great atmosphere, nice food

By Bryan |

Lovely interior and service. Food was good, although nothing to write an exciting, long-winded letter home about. Had a lovely evening. Thanks!

Friendly and great food

By Cristi_Estrada |

My husband and I were out with some friends who were visiting Portland as well and we stopped at Radar for one more drink before calling it a night. We sat outside and the service was friendly and attentive. A couple days later my husband and I came in for brunch and sat at the counter. The food was delicious!!! My husband ordered steak and eggs and I had the french toast. The french toast was amazing but I really have to rave about my husband's steak. Not only did it melt in your mouth, the freakin chimichurri sauce set it off. Glad we walked in, it's a great pick on a street full of restaurants!

Really great food in trendy part of town

By tcv1972 |

We went here based on the recommendation of a local and were very glad we did. Lots of innovative small plates...everything was delicious. We felt a little rushed at the end (brought the check, no offer for dessert) but otherwise the service was really great. Would definitely go here again and recommend even if it takes a cab ride. Be sure to get reservations.

Spur os the moment and so glad we did!

By Cdlake10 |

We weren't planning on dinner but stopped in Radar and had a great dinner tonight. The food was excellent and the service was superb. Chris did a great job of taking care of us with just the right touch, just enough and not too much. We had a kale salad, panzanella (steak, tomato and bread salad with blue cheese) that was outstanding and pulled pork shoulder that was delicious. Dessert was over the top, couldn't resist. Chris and staff noticed small items that made our evening great. Will definitely be back.

emeyeessesseyeessesseyepeepeeeye

By David L |

Informal, yet nice restaurant on North Mississippi. Half dozen beers on tap, plus full bar. We had the chanterelle risotto and dungeness crab pasta. Only issue I'd take is why they overpowered the crab with spices. Obviously a personal choice by the chef, but this is a very fine shellfish so why hide it? But we'd go back again. Food was well prepared, medium portions (which is good for us), and good service.

Upscale Bar/Restaurant

By Judy M |

My husband and I walked in for dinner after reading a number of very positive reviews and were somewhat disappointed. We started with escargot which was excellent and grilled octopus which was only fair. The octopus was rubbery and had a layer of fat that had not been well cooked and left a greasy feeling in my mouth. It came with kimchee, creamed corn and black eyed peas which was an interesting combo but didn't quite work. For entrees I had the sole meunière which was delicate and mild but it was accompanied by roasted potatoes that where over-salted and oily. I love almost all potatoes but couldn't eat them. My husband enjoyed his steak frites but didn't think it was special. We finished with a slice of Meyer lemon tart which was disappointing. The lemon curd was tasty but the shell was so tough that when I cut into the it with my fork, the piece went flying across the table. Many better choices in the area. Don't waste your money.

Great food and atmosphere

By scott f |

Great place to relax and enjoy a rainy evening. Food was prepared to perfection, and server had spot on recommendations. Local and fresh. Well worth a stop in

Fantastic neighborhood gem!

By TravelbugBellevue_Wa |

We are so glad we found this neighborhood gem for brunch on our visit to Portland. The service was exceptional, everyone greeted us with a smile and our server answered all our questions about the menu. All of our dishes were presented beautifully and were delicious. If was one savory surprise after another. We had a wonderful dining experience and will definitely be back.

Food tasted great but make sure to order ALOT

By JetSetJessa |

Went here with a large group ... Ordered a bunch of items to share But each plate had only 2-4 pieces making it impossible to share. I felt disappointed that the server did not give us a heads up when we ordered and she was then so busy it was hard to place more orders- when we did the food took forever to come out... So basically everyone left hungry :( . Drinks were good but food was the most important and no one was satisfied.

Awesome

By Heiko K |

Actually I came here for Gravy but their where totally packed. For now that I don't know how Gravy is... Lucky me! Nice peeps, good service and real good food.

Our favorite

By Chris S |

This is our favorite restaurant in Portland. Food and drinks are amazing. Sitting at the food bar is super fun. Owners are fantastic.

Never fails to please

By Jefftimb |

This is one of our go to Restaurants. The food is outstanding, and the service could not be better. Husband is the Chef and his lovely Wife runs the front. You almost blindly select any item on the menu and discover well prepared food. Prices are more than fair ,and the wine list is well thought out and also fairly priced. But do not go there for the price, go for an outstanding eating and drinking experience.

Not Bad, Just Not That Good for Vegans

By JasperMarks |

We ate brunch here with family over Father's Day weekend. A friend told us about Radar and raved about the food. The menu for vegans was pretty limited; although the waitress did her best to help us understand what we could order. I found the food uneventful, but the wait staff attentive. Won't be eating here again.

Terrific dinner on the patio

By G3nLondon |

We loved our meal at Radar on a beautiful, Saturday evening. Located in the heart of the Mississippi-street area with a select few outdoor tables, Radar is a must find. The staff are warm and welcoming and the cocktails they started the meal with, delectable. The food that followed was even better than the drinks. Particular stand- outs at our table included the: Pan-roasted padron peppers, Steak frites, smoked bluefish pate, deviled eggs and the fried-chicken salad. Everything that was served was delicious, bursting with flavors and mouth-wateringly good. Everyone loved what they ordered/shared and we all left happy and sated. During this pandemic when only outdoor dining is allowed, do yourself AND your local eatery a favor by heading to Radar. You will not leave disappointed.

Exceptional Selections

By jjeadie |

Great earthy treats - we enjoyed a variety of wholesome items including pickled vegetables , grilled radishes, grilled cauliflower with Harissa sauce, and brick topped chicken.

Stopped for small bite and beverage and pleasantly surprised

By Michigancritter |

Just needed a little snack with a glass of wine mid afternoon. Stopped in and had wonderful deviled eggs three ways, marinated olives that were enough for four people, and radishes with brown butter that were delightful. Wine and cocktails very nice, friendly staff. All their food looked good. Cute little place along Mississippi.

Eclectic Ambiance and menu!

By Faye K |

Found a great new restaurant in Portland Oregon , I must say I was impressed which is a hard thing for me to be. I loved the Brunch menu , especially the English Breakfast plate with baked beans and fennel sausage. The drinks are wonderful and enjoyed a spicy Bloody Mary. Pricing is a bit high, but you get full, and the place only has a few regular tables, the others are high bar stool seating which can be uncomfortable for older patrons.

Take Reservation if,

By SuzanneLG |

You are a party of 4 or more. We go out with another couple once month and was happy that we could get reservation and not have to stand in line. This restaurant is small and on a busy street, so thankfully we could get in and order our food and get served right away. Staff was good to us and the food was too. Our friends are vegetarian and had NO trouble ordering, in fact they said there was so many options to chose from it took a while to make up their minds. Even my husband who is not a vegetarian ordered vegetable hash, mmmmmm good. We will definitely go back. Tip arrive early, parking is at a premium.

Exceptional on all counts

By RSEG2011 |

While visiting Portland, my husband and I were eager to try a unique dining experience. After a brief search on Yelp, we found this charming, local, tapas restaurant. We were intrigued by the variety of ingredients and combinations found on their menu - and the food did not disappoint. We were greeted by Lily, the co-owner and hostess, and selected a cozy two-person table along the wall with exposed brick. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, casual but trendy, and somewhat romantic. I particularly appreciated the lighting over the table that did not shine directly into our eyes or onto the table, but was instead reflected upwards. The menu offers a concise selection of small plates. The diversity of options ensures that there will be something for everyone. We shared the arugula salad, manila clams, beef cheeks, and pork shoulder. While small plates, the portions are generous. Really, we would have been fine with three plates between us, but as we are not from Portland, we wanted to try more items. Everything was delicious, amazingly fresh, and well seasoned! The service was attentive without being overbearing, and accommodated my husband's desire to try a small portion of each of the beers available (almost like a flight of beers). To top it all off, we had dessert. My peach sorbet was delicious and palate cleansing. My husband grew up in Mexico so he was intrigued by the mole ice cream and found it to be phenomenal - he even went up to Jonathan (chef and co-owner) to compliment him on it. It was really nice to get a chance to talk to the chef for a few minutes. Also, the prices were very reasonable, and dinner was certainly an outstanding value (about $64 including our drinks and tip). I recommend this restaurant most highly, and only wish it was located in Maryland instead of Oregon!!! We would be regulars!!!

Nice lunch!

Walking through the Mississippi area of Portland, we decided to get a bite for lunch. We stopped in Radar where we had a light lunch. Our service was good and the food was good as well. Too, a while to get our food considering they weren’t busy but we were in no hurry. Small menu but nice choices.

Great food but expensive

I tried Escargot and oysters for the first time here! The food was incredible, the ambiance superb, and the service was exceptional! Keeping all that in mind... The food is a tad bit on the expensive side. Between two people, I spent about $100 on dinner. So keep that in mind before you bring the kids lol

Unexpectedly cool place...

We were on holiday in Portland and had a long list of recommendations to eat. This was off the list but was a great surprise. Have the 5 of the brisket sliders they're awesome. Cool place to hang out for the night. Great atmosphere.

Fun Happy Hour

Stopped at this place for Happy Hour and were most impressed. Some of the specials we had were excellent. Fun place.

Great little restaurant on MS St

Group of three couples. Ordered a variety of small plates to share. Cauliflower was okay, escargot not memorable, pork sliders were excellent as was the watermelon and tomato salad. Entrées - Beef cheeks were wonderful, albacore was prepared perfectly and the gnocchi was also good. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Would definitely revisit if returning to Portland.

Terrible

Food service was very slow-It took over an hour to get our entrées- the restaurant wasn't even half full. The food was okay - too many other great places to go in Portland

Great new find!

We had a fantastic meal at Radar. The "snacks" were excellent: the cauliflower fritters, brisket slider, and deviled eggs. We skipped the small plate and shared the pea risotto. Very flavorful. The rockfish, steak, and pork were also very good. The owner Lily is gracious and attentive. The vibe was great. but it was not thunderously loud (i.e. you can have a conversation). We will go back again!

This food gave me life.

Decided to stop in late night after the drive down to Portland and we were not let down. Service was so friendly and quick, and you can even watch the chefs cook your meal right in front of you. Candles everywhere and soft music made it oh-so-cosy and perfect for a little date. We had the mushroom wellington which was absolutely delightful and one of the best meals we’ve ever eaten (something we can both actually agree on) and finished off with the Apple Galette, which also was absolutely delicious. If you ever find yourself in the area and looking for something haûte but still casual, this is your place.

Tasty small plates, good service

Interesting selections for all diets, plus desserts! Deviled eggs, nice light green salad, salmon chicharrones, mussels with excellent frites, bone marrow. All good and as expected.

Wow, what a place!

Owners Jonathan and Lily were absolutely great, the former serving food for kings and the latter running front of house with balletic grace and perfection. We ordered a mix of small plates and large which we all shared, "tapas style", which made for great conversation and ambiance. Great choice of local beers and other drinks. The girls had some superb non-alcoholic cocktails and the tonic in my wife's G&T was home-made. Stars of the show for me were the swordfish with kalamata olives and the raspberry and cucumber sorbet. Service with a smile and very reasonably priced. Will go back before we finish our holiday.

Second time, better than the first amazing meal

Love love love this place. To sit outside on a beautiful summer night, and eat the earths bounty - what could be better? We feasted on a variety of vegetables and meats, with highlights being an amazing tomato, watermelon and chili pepper salad, green and yellow beans, roasted figs, escargot ....amazing chicken, seriously one thing was better than the next. Never had a bad meal here and not sure that's even possible. Order local and fresh and you won't go wrong.

"Mississippi Mouth-watering"

By ReillyTime |

Located in the heart of NOPO, Radar provides a mouthwatering experience that leaves you feeling as though you will never taste anything more delicious. Let's start with the ambiance, which is a cozy, open air kitchen that's meets modern with rustic touches. As I looked into the menu, they had 4 starters that I had to try. 2 of them tasted so good I ordered another round before I ordered my entrée. They had oysters from New Zealand that were incredibly fresh. The wait staff was fast and attentive and catered to our every need. The owner seemed from a far to roll up her sleeves and took pride in ensuring your visit to her restaurant was one you would remember. She even took the time to say hello and when I ordered a drink that she didn't have in stock she left the bar to go buy it for me. You rarely see service like that anymore. Stop your search of where to eat and make your reservation, you won't be disaapointed.

Warm, cozy, and delicious!

Another small treasure in portland is Radar! The atmosphere is inviting and the food is marvelous! The restaurant's attention to detail and quality helps them to attract top talent! Chef Joel is very creative and informative. His time with the Tom Douglas restaurants in Seattle is obvious in his skill and presentation! Great place to dine, but get there early as they fill up quickly!
