Special Place

By Howard |

Combination of a family restaurant and a German beer connoiseur's heaven. Great Bavarian flavors from the chef, but not heavy. Daytime for the fantastic views of the Marina District boat harbor out to the Golden Gate Bridge. Really comfortable place, oh, with a giant California tree laid down for the Bar!

Excellent food, cool ambience, best location

By johnk888US |

German food is not my first. However, great choice! Yum! Delicious! Quiet enough to converse and the decor is apropos. Fort Mason is right on the San Francisco Bay (right location)! Easy FIVE stars!

A hit or miss pricey Bavarian beer hall

By David OConnor |

Dinner menu after 5 pm is your best bet. Expanded menu features bratwurst, ribs and wiener schnitzel are all hearty portions. The The early menus No.1 thru 5 is quite weak and food overall very bland. The little gem salad and fort burger with haus sauce were small, devoid of spice or any flavor and way overpriced. Potato salad too much mayo to even taste bacon supposedly included. The German beers in this beautiful huge picture window building is the highlight here. Try to get window seats from the host at the front. The German beer lineup is extremely impressive plus their Bavarian wines offered. Once again quite pricey. Can be quite noisy during dinner hours. No substitutions on the food allowed. Not a good place to bring youngsters. Hard to recommend since their Number 1 seller is pretzels.

Lousy German food and unbelievably expensive even for San Francisco. Stay away!

By William M |

I have been forced to go here a few times and each time is worse than the one before. Way below average German food that is incredibly expensive. The German beers are good and a bit pricey but they have some unusual ones on draft. The interior of the place looks really nice and is reminiscent of a Hofbrau House in Munich. When you get the bill you are in total shock though and then they add the hated San Francisco 5% mandate on top of the bill. Stay away from this place .

It’s good for American standards

By Lukas S |

Just a another overpriced wanna be German Restaurant! But it’s ok for none Europeans who are happy as long as they hold their big beer Glases in their hands .

Great German Food in a fabulous location!!!!!!!

By Michael A., San Francisco CA |

What a find!!!!!!! Everything I tried here was spot on and delicious!!!!!! EVERYTHING...turkey leg, soups,, burger, fries the beer.....all amazing. Can't recommend this place highly enough....when in the area it's a must t go to...and when not make a point to try it out.

Very expensive, I.e. rip off prices even for San Francisco. Brats and sauerkraut are $25!

By William M |

We live a few blocks away so decided to try the Radhaus. Wow, $25 for brats and sauerkraut. Food cost is about two dollars. Just crazy expensive here which is too bad because the German beer is good and so is the service and the design of the space. And the dreaded SF health surcharge is added to the bill to further rip you off. We won’t be back and can’t recommend it either. It’s too bad because it is a good idea and the interior looks like a German hofbrau.

Very good German food with excellent sauerkraut and red cabbage

By William M |

This restaurant has gone over a complete transformation. The beer has always been good, and so has the atmosphere. However, now the food is really good. Excellent schnitzel and excellent sauerkraut and red cabbage.. this is very good, solid German food in a very nice atmosphere. Homemade deserts are excellent but pricey. Recommended..

Great beer

By Al Catrank |

Great dark beer I've ever drink. Unique taste - the bit covered with soft sweet taste. Feel like soft dark beer but it's really strong. The bratwurst is delicious too

Quite pleased with the overall experience.

By C L |

My son is a local and is the one who recommended Radhaus for our family. We had reservations for Saturday and didn’t have to wait at all. Everyone enjoyed the food (I thought the beer was pricy), including my mother in law who makes her own spaetzle. Great spot to view the sunset.

good beer, meh food

By Helmut |

Walked in for a quick bier and a pretzel. The beer selection did not disappoint, but the pretzel was nothing like an authentic German pretzel. That is a serious bummer. Space is nice, but a bit loud. If I go back, then only for the beer.

Coolest joint in SF

By FurTeddy |

Love this place. Such a totally cool bar. First class German and Bavarian beers, great wines and simple German cuisine. Got to be one of the coolest places in San Francisco. Musicians hang out after jamming at the Blue Bear.

Way too pricey

By KathieVee |

We were looking forward to trying this place out for some time. We heard mixed reviews from friends but always good to form one’s own opinion. It’s a fairly austere kind of place, reasonably quiet when no one is there but that only lasted an hour. Then the cavernous atmosphere amplified the sound to a very noisy level. We could barely here each other. The food ample and interesting. But I was hoping for spaetzle and a delicious German salad. Not available til dinner. Service was good but for two sandwiches, two toasts (mushroom and smoked fish), a beer and a cider, $122 plus SF health tag plus top was a shock. We won’t be back. Suppenkuchen is far better, with much more authentic German food.

German Food on San Francisco Bay!

By David N |

The Radhaus has a great location and we had a nice after-dinner walk along the waterside. The prices are a little bit pricey, but not outrageous considering the location and San Francisco in general. The food and beers are authentic, so you can't go wrong. Our waiter was kind and attentive, so a positive experience all the way around.

Just passing..

By Bobchops |

Just passing and noticed this place, so popped in for a beer. Great drinks and atmosphere. Didn’t eat, but food looks fresh and very tasty! Well worth a visit..

Great choice for a birthday lunch!

By DrSJ |

After a few years of not being able to eat out for my birthday, so a few years without having had a proper pork schnitzel, I decided that I really, really wanted one for my birthday. With its great reviews and terrific view, Radhaus looked like the perfect spot to enjoy jagerschnitzel and a brew—and it was! Arriving when it opened on a Monday, we could choose any table, so we were able to be by a window overlooking the bay and seeing the Golden Gate Bridge on a sunny day with sparkling waters and picturesque sailboats to enjoy. We both knew that we wanted to have the pork schnitzel accompanied by potatoes and covered with gravy and hen of the house mushrooms, and I asked the server to suggest a beer that would complement the schnitzel since I normally drink the darkest, heaviest beer when I’m choosing a beer to have just a beer. She graciously named two from their menu but mentioned she would bring tastes of each for me to choose which I preferred: I went with the Ettal “Mythos” special-marzen, described as a “rustic and rich Octoberfest-style amber lager. The Mythos was a nice reddish lager, not quite so heavy obviously as a stout, and easily quaffable; it was perfect for drinking with the schnitzel. Our meals arrived soon after our beers (my husband had the Hofbrauhau Traunste in “Zwickl,” a lighter lager, since he prefers lighter beers than do I), and they were plated beautifully. The mushrooms were plentiful, strewn over the schnitzel that covered the majority of the plate and on the side of the meat; they were flavorful and added a pleasant textural difference to the nicely breaded and fried pork. The gravy was delicious, neither too thick nor too thin, seasoned well. The pork was perfectly pounded and tasty on its own, sprinkled with some of the juice from the lemon wedges. We agreed that the potatoes were wonderfully crisp and delicious, providing a different texture again for our dining enjoyment. Knowing I’d want dessert (it was my birthday, after all), I didn’t finish the schnitzel (the rest became my dinner); we each ordered the cholate custard topped with a meringue dusted with raspberry powder. What a luscious yet light dessert! The chocolate was rich, the meringue added a counter-point texture to the creaminess of the chocolate and the whipped cream, and the light flavor of raspberry from the dust sprinkled over the crispy meringue was distinctly present without being overwhelming. Excellent dessert, we agreed! Throughout the meal, we received great service, including the thoughtfulness of providing not just a glass of water but also a carafe of water for refills. We loved the view of the bay, and we appreciated all the safety protocols observed, such as the checking of vaccination status as everyone entered. The unisex bathrooms were customary for bay area restaurants, and the airy high ceilings made diners feel as if they was more space around them. The long bench seat with a number of tables set against it was impressive; that had to be a huge tree they made it from. What a distinctive interior, I thought, reminding me a bit I thought of some industrial German décor for a club or bar. The meal wasn’t cheap, but the quality of the food, the beauty of the presentation, the tastes of the food and drink, and the service make the pricing reasonable, especially in San Francisco. I look forward to returning and trying some other dishes and drinks!

Great Beer

By Kevin B |

Great beer and the schnitzel was excellent. Pretzel was disappointing, especially it being a German place. Cool building but definitely need to install some blinds.

To avoid

By Cynthia N |

The servers are jaded and the service is really slow. It took 15 minutes before one of them came to see us. We are greeted without smiling and without even being greeted. The dishes are small and expensive for what it is.

Disappointed

By Fred S |

I tried to find an email address to let the restaurant know directly about our lunch experience today. I don't like using a public forum like this unless I have something good to say. But unfortunately, I don't have anything good to say this time My friend and I went for lunch today expecting another nice experience as we've had many times before at this restaurant. I ordered the chicken schnitzel sandwich. The chicken was deep-fried and overcooked and tough. It was about as big as the palm of my hand with more breading than chicken. and it was absolutely tasteless. It needed some seasoning. I asked for salt and had to get another salt shaker since when they gave me one that was empty. We both had an Arnold Palmer that was so sour we had to ask for sugar. The potato pancakes were nothing like we remembered, and they were very greasy. Unfortunately, this will no longer be our go to place. We were very disappointed in comparison to what we remembered from other visits. And on top of it all, our bill came to over $70.

Beautiful views and great biers

By SeaTraveler15 |

Visited during an event at Fort Mason. Wonderful view of Golden Gate Bridge. Very open and airy space. Staff was very friendly. The food was fantastic! Large variety of bier. Worth a stop if you’re in the area!

You can make , but you don't have to

By bhunecke |

Nice. Hard to reach on foot but nice. However, the prices very high . Sure San Francisco in general, but thank God we still found location where it's still fun to drink and eat

Delicious German food and drink overlooking the water

By Seth A |

Had dinner, and would order the same dishes again: Halbes Hendl -- grilled half chicken -- very tender and savory. Brotzeit Teller: Cured meat, cheese. bread, mustards, radish, and pickles. Great cocktails: Haus Hugo: elderflower, lime, prosecco Altmisisch (Old Fahsioned). Staff very friendly and helpful. Of note, we were interested in the grilled chicken recipe. Chef Chris actually came to our table, sat down with us, and gave us the recipe. Cool guy and superb chef.

Celebrating family and friends

By indytrims |

We took a group of husbands and children to Radhaus for lunch while our wives attended a baby shower down the way. They comfortably accommodated a group of 12 with 3 small children. This restaurant is a large, bright, high ceiling place with large windows looking out on a yacht basin and the Golden Gate Bridge. We drank large mugs of beer and shared platters of excellent German foods. It was a delight.

Nice but overpriced beer

By travelingnonrev |

After our walk 4 mile walk around the area, we decided to try this place out for a beer and an appetizer. If you sit at the bar, you get a view of the harbor and the GG Bridge. The brussel sprouts with fondue were excellent. My pint of beer was $17.00 ! Never in my life have I paid this much for a pint of beer. Bar. Bartenders were friendly and helpful with the menu.

Amazing Burger! TOP 3 SF

By travelingclever |

Amazing Burger! should be under the TOP 3 in SF, I remember every bite, is like you never want to finish it, great beer! #Prost pro tip: just a few steps from here you will find the interval at long, one of the most beautiful coffee stores I have seen In my life.

Awesome location with good food in a casual atmosphere

By Cassietrip |

Located in Fort Mason, with plenty of pay parking right outside. It's also convenient to people biking along Marina Green and Crissy field. The restaurant is on a pier with views of a marina and the Golden Gate Bridge. Spectacular. I had a gin and elderflower cocktail which was refreshing and not too boozy. Of course there's a large beer menu. We enjoyed the soft cheese with pretzel - a large serving of tasty cheese. The wiener schnitzel came with two large pieces and several boiled potatoes. It was tasty. We also had the Kasespatzle - kind of a German mac'n'cheese - very creamy and satisfying, and again, a large portion. Try to save room for the chocolate chip cookies. Three soft cookies, with bittersweet chocolate, sprinkling of salt. Served with water-buffalo milk, which was sooo creamy and good. Service is friendly and professional, and our food was served quickly after ordering. Highly recommend.

Disgusting

By Eli |

The food was absolutely horrible, we order deviled eggs, and they gave us pink eggs. Then they wanted us to pay a 20% extra because we were more than 6, even tough we were on separated bill and tables. We felt very sad, I wouldn’t never reccomend it, it was such a nightmare. But the waitress was nice. 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🪺🪺🪺🪺🪺🪺🪺

We're part German, so ...

By Gene R |

So we know what German food is like. Got to sit outside in the sun, had the sausages, french toast, and spectacular beer.

Restaurant with German name but far from being expert in sausage cooking

By Gérard P |

I chose the $24 dish with two sausages and fries. The fries were pretty good and crispy. The sausages were dry and didn't taste much (possibly cooked in advance), which is probably why there was a coat of a small vegetable soup on top. In terms of quantities, if you are a small eater it can be okay. The Mood is good, the setting is original and the staff is nice but unfortunately for me it is not enough for a good rating. Far from being enchanted...

Welcoming Modern Bavarian Bierhall with legit food (from the 3 dishes we tried).

By 1972TravelGirl |

Had an excellent visit to RH recently. Didn’t know it existed, I’m rarely in the Fort Mason area. Radhaus was a pleasant surprise. The simplistic white Scandinavian/ Modern Bavarian environment is welcoming and Gemütlich. We shared some dishes. The Wurst, Cucumber salad and Sauerkraut. Started with the basics this visit. Can’t wait to try the Schnitzel and the Döner (never had a good one in the US). All 3 dishes were legit good. The Sauerkraut even had juniper berries! My German heart sang with happiness. The Hefeweizen was delicious too. Yes, it’s pricy for those visiting from outside the Bay Area, but sadly that’s the state of our prices in S.F. I can’t wait to return. Sunset here would be lovely too. Thank You Radhaus!!!

Ausgezeichnet!

By Icarus4335 |

Good selection of beers, all delicious. The jägerschnitzel was probably the best I've ever had that wasn't homemade. The potatoes, mushrooms, and mushroom gravy it came with were all perfectly cooked and seasoned. The schnitzel itself was cooked so perfectly and was so tender that you could cut it with a fork. The only thing that wasn't amazing was the pretzel. it wasn't bad, just very average. Even still, it wasn't enough to make this a 4-star.

Beer hall experience near the water

By travgal0766 |

Traditional German beer hall atmosphere with several food items that sounded good. Tasty beer but would have been nice to have a 10 or 12 ounce pour. Even a half liter is a lot for some women and I ended up leaving some in the glass. Tried the Doner Kebab and it was quite satisfying. Location in Fort Mason convenient to the Marina area but not far from Ghirardelli Square either.

Fun place, nice space

By Ellen M |

Radhaus is located in a large space in Forth Mason, so offers great views of the water and sunset. It's a brand-new German beer pub with tons of beer offerings plus wine. I didn't notice hard alcohol on the menu, but I was not looking either. Our beer gourmets in the group were so excited by the options offered. Along with the beer and wine comes German food. it's not light like typical CA cuisine, but Radhaus' offerings are lighter than typical German fare. It was all very good. We tried the pretzels, cauliflower, cucumber salad, potato salad, roasted carrots, weinerschnitzel and bratwursts. Everything was very good, although the schnitzel was a bit fatty around the edges for me, but others in our group enjoyed it. It was all great food for sharing too. The space is very light and airy, but it gets loud. There's also outside seating. Our server was great. Nice and good service. All around,a really fun evening. What a great place for a quick bite or a long, fun dinner.

Good place for good time

By allobour |

The food and the service are excellent. But, there was a lot of clients so we had to wait about 30 minutes before having a seat. Great choice of plates and drinks.

Excellent food, but not worth the wait

By Heather S |

Food was excellent and quick. Ambience awesome, menu seems authentic. Wait staff were incredibly efficient and professional. What I take issue with is the wait for a table and the clarity of the hostesses. We were told 45 minute wait upon arrival. We weren’t excited by that time frame, but it was doable. AN HOUR AND A HALF LATER, after asking TWICE how much longer (at 45 minutes and 1 hr) and being told “just 10 more minutes,” we were making other arrangements to leave and order food to our hotel when we got the text that our table was ready. We were out the cost of a ride share because we were starving, freezing, and desperate. Had we known it was going to take that long, we would not have waited. We feel swindled, lied to in order to maintain our business, not once, not twice, but three times. The least they could do is throw in a free something as apology but I guess they don’t have to.

Good beer, ordinary food, good views

By Saibal S |

The ambiance is fun and the beer is good. The views are great. However, the food is mediocre. We tried the Bratwurst and the grilled cauliflower.

Good beer, nice views

By edvh81 |

Located at Fort Mason this is a cool German Beer Hall. All white tile and very cavernous. The size and shape makes the atmosphere fun but loud. We went in the afternoon and were limited to the Snacks menu. The beer was authentic German beer and quite enjoyable. The snacks were just okay. Among us we tried the Helles, the Pilsner, the Dopplebock, and a Radler. Service was attentive and we enjoyed the experience. It is pricey.

Lunch

By Paul M |

very good restaurant with German themes, facing out over bay. Good food, fast service and excellent beers. Got table straight away. At Fort Mason complex, little difficult to find but worth it.
