I'm always on a hunt for a good Ramen here in Houston and the surrounding Cities. This place is close to my friend's house and we tried it after the Houston Open. The atmosphere is good and the way they have it set up for the diners are pretty need. The Ramen was good, not the best I had, but alright. I might come again here. It's just out of the way from where I live and work. :) The staff are amazing.

I'm late trying Ramen Tatsu-ya. I've been to most of the ramen restaurants in Houston and I've heard so many rave reviews from Austin and Houston friends about Ramen Tatsu-ya. I was excited when some co-workes invited me for lunch. Sadly, this was the most disappointing ramen I've had in Houston. There was no depth! No flavor! The tastiest thing in my ramen was the marinated egg, which truly was soft boiled flavor perfection. I do wish I had ordered an extra one. I also ordered the Korokaaaayyy which was a panko crusted fried croquette. It was just ok. The katsu sauce was a little off to me. Almost too salty. My other small complaint is the lack of options for those who don't eat pork. There is one chicken broth option, but it is still served with pork (unless you ask for no pork) and one veggie option. No biggie if you love pork, but there are other ramen restaurants with more varied offerings. I should mention that the service was friendly and excellent. I really want to give them another go, but Jinya Ramen and Zen Izakaya have my heart. Jinya for consistently delicious ramen and lots of options for customizing your order and Zen Izakaya for the best ramen in Houston. Zen is not a ramen restaurant. They only have one ramen soup on the menu. It is served the way they make it (no adding this and that) and it is pure comfort.

I'll agree that that parking takes some time. You'll probably end up in a neighborhood. Mark it on a map so you know how to get back to your car. We ended up going on the soft opening weekend, so we were stuck in line for about 2 hours, as the restaurant was only half-staffed. I've eaten Ramen at a few other restaurants in Houston, and what struck me the most about this one, was the depth of flavor in the broth. It was ridiculous! Smokey bacon, and a slap in the face of umami is probably the best way I can describe it. The pricing was fair, and with one or 2 extra topics I was more than full.

Spot manages line and seating very well. When you order at the counter- there is a seat for you. The Ramens are made over many days- simmer those bones. Very good food and wide selection. Ramen to sliders to curry. If you want more than on beer- order it with your original order.

Went to their "soft opening" where the entire menu was half price. Lots of people and a very long wait to be seated - but we actually didn't mind because of all the friendly people waiting with us. You order at the counter and the food is brought to you (pretty quickly) by the wait staff. We each had the Tonkotsu Original soup (#1) and it was delicious, served in a fairly large bowl. Very rich broth and lots of noodles and a slice of pork. We also split an order of sweet and sour yodas - brussel sprouts with apricot vinegar sauce - and they were divine. Next time I'll get my own order.đ The decor was very interesting and different. And lots of long "community" tables where you sit with whoever else is already seated. I like the concept - meeting new people while having an interesting meal. Of course, they also have separate tables if you prefer to eat with your own group. We'll definitely go back.

Best ramen I have ever tried. The broth is thick, the pork belly delicious and the gyosas also yummy! My recommendation is, if you get the flavor bomb that is butter with corn, donât put the whole thing in the bowl. The broth is already to super rich, I donât even think it needs it but if you get it put a bit at the time and try it cause it can end up to heavy on the stomach. Also the bathrooms could be cleaner. That being said I would still go back every week if I lived in Houston.

Love this place. Love the Austin locations and finally a location in Houston. No more 2 hour drives just to eat dinner. The Tsukemen, the dipping ramen, is a must have. Love the artwork inside and out. Service is fast and efficient. Drinks are always good. Bring cash to buy their sweet ramen shirts.

We got addicted to Ramen after experiencing fresh ramen at the Ichiran restaurant in Hong Kong. Ramen Tatsuya comes really close. The original Tonkatsu with extra chashu is awesome! The broth is very rich and the ramen fresh. I wish they had a choice of how rich you want your broth. In Honk Kong, they have the choice from light to rich. They deliver the food fast. Place was clean. Bathroom could use some attention. Friendly and helpful staff. They have a no take-out sign but you can order at your table and get a styrofoam container by the water station.

Have a closer look at the âinteresting artworkâ. Ramen is great, but there are literally flyers taped to service counters advertising occult items sale by Satantemplehouston.org . I prefer my ramen without a side of Satan Worship, thanks. Pretty bold. Seeing this kind of thing increasingly in Houston (eg Brash Brewing). No thanks

The Tonkotsu ramen here is the closest thing Iâve found to what you get in Tokyo. Pay attention to the food here. Notice that they rush the noodles to you so they donât get soggy, and that the shaggy is actually char-sui, emphasis on charred, so you get even more umami. The flavors here are top notch. Try the ramen with Brussels sprouts, and if you like gyoza, you have to try it here.

Awkward ordering at the counter can really slow things down because of people that don't know what to order or what they want.. Two times, the cashier /order taker has not been very helpful and it takes time to read the long menu and figure out what you want or want to add to your ramen.. people that don't do this often will shut down the movement of the line so the wait can be long sometimes. Seating is generally uncomfortable but the food is great

Very good ramen and friendly service. The only reason I gave 4 stars is that you have to order at the cashier and I do not like it. But all the rest was fine.

I have tried many other ramen restaurants around Houston and none of them compare! Tatsu-ya has amazing service and reasonably priced ramen bowls that are absolutely delicious.

Went with a friend one night, and really like the illuminated cat statue in front. I did not have ramen, but they have some nice sides that I really liked. My friend say the ramen is great.

The remodel is nicely done with great murals. Seems a fair amount of parking available. But only one vegan option-sigh We did regular bowls with drinks just under $30 for lunch. Taste was yummy

I donât like that you canât get carry out. Really silly policy. That aside, excellent ramen. Excellent service. Definitely top notch ramen and a great place. Venue is really great. Loved it. Need to allow carry out orders.

First time experiencing a ramen bowl!! Excellent service, great atmosphere and Kevin was the best waiter ever!!

Not much parking, small weekday crowd at peak dinner time, The Ramen was OK, however the noodle portion was very small. I even ordered an extra noodle portion for a couple of bucks, but still left hungry. All my guests were in agreement. This is a big No-No in Houston, where large portions are expected and given if a restaurant is to survive. Why Scrimp on the Noodle ?? I won;t go back or recommend.

... every time we visit this place I forget the broth could be warmer, the taste isn't bad. I wish they use piping hot broth so I could " SLURP" ...

I am no longer a Ramen Virgin and now I will be a Ramen Snob. The atmosphere is fun, upbeat and comfortable. This is a popular location, so be patient if there is a line, because the Food will amaze you. The staff hands down do an amazing job. Ramen Tatsu-ya will be a restaurant I go to everytime I'm in Houston.

The ramen is exceptional with traditional recipes. The pork bone broth made over the course of two days is rich and creamy and the noodles remarquable. The decor gives a sense of Japan.

I donât know whatâs happened to this place. A year and a half ago it was our favorite place for ramen. We went today and it was horrible. The broth was supposed to be pork bone but tasted like beef bullion. Bitter and didnât smell right. We ate several bites each and then left. Very very disappointed.

It is not an easy place to find, the parking is horrible, and there is usually a long line out the door...but it is worth it. The ramen is fresh with rich flavors. The price is very reasonable, though the servings are a bit small...so if you're hungry, get extra noodles and toppings. One of the best ramen places in town.

The food was great and they have a good amount of items to chose from. Went here for lunch during the week. I had the MI-SO-HOT with the Naruto Maki

Food was ok. We went at lunch during a cold spell and the place was cold inside. It would have been more tolerable had the ramen come out steaming. We ordered green tea and it came out warm.

This place is the real deal. I used to live in Japan and can confirm their ramen is authentic and delicious! Plan ahead as this is a local favorite and there is usually a long line, although it is absolutely worth it!

Order at the counter, communal seating, no frills, and amazing ramen. Comfort food at its finest. Line out the door when we left

The first thing you notice when you walk inside are all of the cool artwork all over the walls. It's a neatly decorated restaurant. Even the light fixtures are interesting. The staff is welcoming and helpful. We went to this restaurant to try their highly touted food from their pair of ramen restaurants originally from Austin. They didn't disappoint. We started with a pair of appetizers (spicy edamame and sweet & sour yodas). Both were very good and plenty enough to share for 4 people. The star of the show of course is their ramen which comes in 6 or 7 (can't remember now) different broths, from the pork bone broth to the miso and the veggie variety. Our table got the tonkotsu and veggie broths and they were delicious. The taste of the broth is hearty, smoky, and combined with the mushrooms, soft boiled egg, fish cakes, and a host of other herbs and spices, it was very satisfying.

Dined with 3 family members. We all ordered the Tonkotsu. . . and we all agreed that we preferred the Tonkotsu at another restaurant (Jinya). The broth wasnât flavored as well as Jinyaâs. The gyoza here are outstanding - flavor was great and price ($5) was awesome. I wish the Tonkotsu would have been piping hot - that was disappointing. I ordered the Original Tonkotsu Ramen ($9.75) with no meat, but was still charged full price - why? Jinya charges much less for broth only (around $4). Would I dine here again? Probably (but wouldnât be my first or second choice restaurant for Tonkotsu). And I would definitely ask for a cheaper price on my no-meat Tonkotsu.

All people in dining party must be present before you can place your order. YOu place your order when you walk through the door. Your order is made while you are being seated, it comes out pretty fast. There aren't that many vegan options. Most of their selections contain pork. I get the ONLY vegan option. The sliders are excellent. The service is great. Parking is a headache. You can either find a spot in the small parking lot, or find a spot on the street. Street parking is a little hard depending on time and day of week, as it is in a residential area and surrounded by other restaurants with little to no parking.

Iâm not much of a ramen eater but this place was highly recommended. I like the vibe of the restaurant, trendy and hippy. I ordered a pork broth based ramen and added a few things to it. It was good. Like I stated earlier, Iâm not a ramen eater but this place was okay! I actually ate all of it! A few friends were disappointed and a few friends really enjoyed it.

My first trip to this restaurant. My daughter has been to their other location in Austin. Very clean, good service and excellent food.

I never knew Ramen could taste so good. In full transparency, when the family wanted to hit up the noodle house, I did not want to go. I am so glad that I did. The flavors where absolutely amazing. My favorite was the added egg that was soft boiled and marinaded in some kind of heavenly sauce. My entire family was blown away. Everything we had from the appetizers to the Ramen was impressive. Highly recommended.

Set quiet nook in Montrose in a casual bungalow style house with community tables, be prepared to share your eating area with others, but be prepared to make new friends! The menu does not disappoint with different ramen options including a seasonal summer spicy chilled ramen, highly recommend this dish. Inexpensive, I highly recommend this little hidden gem

A cool place in Houston Downtown. We arrive late, past 9:00 pm. Didn't know what to expect. Well, surprise. If you are looking for a cool place, relaxed environment, and a fresh touch, this is it. The music outstanding...a hipster friendly place. Of course good Ramen. Despite the attention of the lady in the cashier was rather like a McDonald employee at the n f of the day, the rest of the experience was superb! Actually they got delayed with one of our orders and they removed the charge and offered an complimentary dessert. That was not expected. Actually I insisted they must charge me any way. In the personnel attention in general is great. If the Ramen is in your listing of wished food, go here. Won't regret at all!!

If you have any problems service or otherwise, you are out of luck. I had one and the manager wrote my name down to follow up. Since their phone is just an answering service , I had drive back out to the restaurant. When I followed up, the manager apparently threw my number away in the trash.

Fresh flavors. Not a long term cooked broth. All very tasty and excellent components. Wow. The veggie soup was the best I ever had.

My wife and I enjoyed the ramen very much. I got a mi-so-not with pork bone broth. Very tasty. My wife got a soy and mushroom broth 'Veggie' with tofu, which she enjoyed. We will be going back!

Missed an opportunity to eat at their branch in Austin, so very happy to see they had one in Houston. I was not dissapointed. Funky restaurant with great vibe, unique artwork and design, great music to add to the ambience. Choose your ramen from a board and add as many extras as you want for an extra charge. Wine, beer and sake also available. Service is fast, friendly, attentive. Food is fresh, tasty, gorgeous! Ramen heaven

Dear foodie readers, I finally go to try this little gem...with the weather being a bit cooler then we are used to at this time of year, it was nice to have a bit of warm comfort food. When I go try something new, it is so difficult to just sample one item, so of course I ordered a slew of goodies....we had the salad, the brussel sprouts, the rice bowl, and I had the chicken broth ramen bowl. It was all really delicious. It all came out fairly quick, and the staff was very helpful on us newcomers with recommendations. Foodies try it....if you have been, go again.

I have never had any Ramen other than the 25 cent variety and then seldom. This is gourmet ramen - from a bone broth that is hearty and has layers of flavor. While not a quarter the prices are modest, and the Restaurant ant caters to a young crowd. Think entrees under ten dollars. The spicy edamame was great â sea salt, jalapeño and a citrus soy sauce â really liked it. But this is a restaurant for the young â loud music and minimalistic seating and furnishings.

This is a real fun and social place to be, don't expect a traditional sit down dining place; it has private booths and long family-style tables. The ramen they serve are really good, the ingredients are authentic. We hope that they keep the traditional Ramen serving going. Definitely will go back !!!!

This is in my top two favorite ramen places in Texas now. Absolutely amazing ramen bursting with flavor! Went during a slower time, mid-day, for the first time and was blown away. I donât live in Houston and drove three hours for this ramen. No joke.
Ramen the o a whole new level!
Enjoyed the Goya dumplings and tried two ramen bowls. One was soba noodles with the dark dipping sauce and the other was miso broth and rice noodle bowl and pork. Served with seaweed, scallions, mushrooms . I added a pork bomb and it also came with an egg. Will go back. Everything is packed with flavor and goodness! Loved it!
