Waiting outside for a seat, while holding onto a bag of beer and wine was annoying. BTW BYOB, and, No hard liqueur allowed. Inside, however, the service was good and the food even better. This is a ramen specialty shop, supposedly, and the ramen dishes were good, but, the extensive menu offers more then just ramen. Grilled chicken skin, grilled gizzards--yakitory in general--are a just a few authentic Japanese items that were great, minus the sumo wrestler behind the grill. The sushi quality was excellent. We had the ramen, several rolls and nigiri which included uni. The uni quality, again was fantastic. So, take the drive west and wait in line, you will not be disappointed.

I ate here on my hollidays to chicago with my extended family. Best noodled i ever had, all freshly made that day. Great Sushi rolls. Will have to go back again when in Chicago again.

After the recent expansion, we made a couple attempts to try out this legendary ramen. Despite the new location, queues can be long but this ramen is worth it! Recommend stopping by right at opening or near the end of the night to avoid the wait and don't miss out on the crispy brussel sprouts.

Not sure the place is worth the wait again. The ramen is second best in Chicago (the best is Santouka Ramen). Ramen Wasabi has better fatty pork and egg on the ramen, but their Tonkatsu soup lack bone marrow flavor and the noodle are not chewy enough. The Char siu bowl was good, but why so tiny ;-(

Hands down, best ramen I've ever had in this city! The sushi is pretty good too :) Decent service, too..................

Never had interest in ramen as I though it likely to be nonsubstantial. A bowl of their ramen was quite satisfying and delicious. The pork broth, whose preparation is described on the menu, was hearty and delicious. The noodles and other components made it a comfortably filling meal. I will be back.

The ramen was excellent! Gyoza was a bit burned. We ordered mochi and it was very good. One of the cheaper japanese shops we went to but very fulfilling.

all yakitori i ordered - pork belly, chicken breast, gizzard - tasted really good and were seasoned well. Too bad they ran out of chicken skin and hearts. Yakitori balls were good as well. This is a BYOB resto so people tend to stay longer despite having long lines outside. Serve staff were really nice especially Tyler.

In my quest to find the best ramen in Chicago I came here. The verdict - great but not jaw dropping drool making great. First my 2 complaints - 1) soup was not hot enough. It should be burn your mouth hot to start. 2) presentation suffered from the standard sinking noodles. I haven't figured out how they should do this but the photos of ramen always show the added meats and garnishes sticking out of the soup resting on the noodles. I think if they just lifted the ramen up it would do it. I feel that the chefs have a list of what to put on the ramen and just place it there haphazardly. That's the bad. Here is the good stuff - Ramen is the Noodles first. These were perfectly cooked el dente. Your teeth could really feel them. The noodles are made to Wasabi's specs and shipped from California. They still seemed absolutely fresh. The quantity was plentiful. The pork belly (I did not order the grilled pork) was tender and flavorful. I think it was roasted and sliced. Because it was so tender, it seemed like it was pot roasted, the pieces were a little indistinct. The molten egg was perfectly cooked with a slight color from the marinade and beautiful color to the yolk. There was an interesting dark sauce floating on the cloudy cream colored soup. The broth is made from pork bones simmered for 45+ hours. This gives the broth a milky white color and very deep flavor and texture. Cool it down and I am sure it will turn to Jello. My only complaint was that it was only luke warm. It should have been much hotter which reminds me that my drinking water was almost as hot as the soup!! So, I would rate this as a have to come back again when I am in the neighborhood. It is open until 11:00. I will comeback to sample the full menu of sushi, sashime and mixed plates. The Ramen is good, the soup to die for but the presentation needs some work. Cost for my Tonkotsu Ramen was $13 (date: 8/14)

There was quite a long wait to be seated, but once we were in, the service was fast and the food came out quickly. The fried chicken leg appetizers were pretty good and the shoyu ramen was very delicious.

One of the best places in Chicago! Tasty food, very cozy interior and friendly service! For sure we will be back again! Totally recommended

I lived in Japan 6 1/2 years; this is among the best Japanese restaurants I've ever eaten at anywhere. Ramen is awesome; small plates are awesome; sushi is awesome. I am so impressed. I also like the "bring your own beer" policy, saved me money. culinary heaven. ******

I've been staying in Chicago 2 weeks a month for the last few months for work from LA. I'm always craving good sushi in the Logan Square area that I can walk to and finally there is a place. They have a great combination of sushi and hot food and I can walk there from my company!

I've been to Wasabi several times, I've tried quite a few other ramen places in the city and every time I wonder why I bothered because you just know Wasabi is going to be better.

Possibly the best ramen I've had in North America. Their tonkotsu ramen is so amazingly delicious and its a steal for only $13. We tried a few of their other menu items including the uni shots, sashimi and takoyaki and I must say everything is very fresh and delicious. Get there early for a table!

Great ramen and fresh sushi. Try the different variations of toro. Service is good but they do get busy and service has been a bit lax at times but due to the large crowds. Pork belly skewers are a real treat.

This place is always worth the wait. More than likely you're going to wait at least 20 minutes outside before you get your table here and sometimes it's much longer. Their ramen is as good as I have had in the city and so is everything else I've tasted. They offer a ton of bites from the grill that will make you feel like you're walking down the street in a major oriental city, not sitting at a table in chilly Chicago.

Only a 3 mile cab ride from Chicago Amtrak Station, the lunch experience was well worth the ride there. Perfectly presented and deliciously succulent, my order was a splash dash of taste sensations. I kept scooping, dipping, twirling and slurping until I had reached the very bottom of the bowl. Nicely done.

I had a hankering for ramen and knew I’d be in Lincoln Park. We had not been here before but were willing to take a chance due to great reviews. After a 30 minute wait with a beer from the bar (btw, nice selection of IPA’s on tap), we were seated at a cozy 2-top. The food was sensational; the broth was slurp-worthy, the pork belly was tender and fatty and the seasoning was spot on. The 1/2 soft-boiled egg cooked in the broth was a bonus. My next ramen hankering will take me back to Wasabi.

Fun small place, sit at the bar watch chefs prep food. Very good. Always delicious pork belly spicy ramen.

We went last Sunday for our son's birthday dinner. We've been there on my brithday dinner last year and my son (8 years old) remembers how good the food was and he picked this restaurant. Loved all the dishes especially "pork belly kimchee spring roll, zuke salmon and chocolate cake!!! I don't really care for cake but that was so good! Always great food & atmosphere! Also location is perfect, not far from the train station and lots of street parking right in front of the Restauarant. At last, I am Japanese so I know what's good and not, this is the place to be!!!!!

We are massive fans of ramen and tried Kinton, Oiistar, Ramen Takeya and Wasabi in the space of a few days. In our view Wasabi pipped the rest to the post - we found the shoryu and spicy garlic absolutely delicious and the ramen had fantastic texture. Food wise, it was a big thumbs up and service was attentive and helpful. We had initially ordered 3 bowls of ramen amongst 4 people and the manager was not difficult - we subsequently ordered a tiger bowl because it was so good. One minor point - it was a very hot afternoon when we visited and the air conditioning wasn’t very effective.

Hakata Red is the best ramen I've ever had. Due to high interest in food served by the restaurant we had to wait a couple of minutes for a table. It was definitely worth it. The place offers a wide range of ramens; from mild to spicy. There are also a few kinds of broth. The list of appetizers is so long I'm sure anyone can find something for oneself.

The deco is minimalist, in harmony with the menu and food. Ramena are excellent, same for the bowl. Portions are Small And price are correct Service could more friendlier

They do not take reservations and do not seat groups over 6. THe waiting line is ridiculous and there seemed to be no patio space. Possibly a good idea for a couples date.

Went to Wasabi for Valentine's Day dinner per the suggestion of one of the bartenders at Green Street Meats. Didn't realize it was BYO but had a 20 minute wait so we walked across the street to the CVS. We got in sooner than we were quoted - yay! Sat at the bar. Our waiter greeted us right away and opened our wine. He was very attentive and informative. We had the pork buns, tempura, mushroom skewer, short rib skewer, asparagus skewer, chili garlic ramen (omgggg). Everything was delicious!!!! Will be back on my next visit to Chicago!

I'm from DC and we take our ramen seriously. We have multiple excellent restaurants in our city, so I was skeptical that Wasabi could live up to the ramen I've had in my hometown. Put simply, it did. We waited about 45 minutes (but killed time at the CVS next door picking out booze to drink) and the service was quick and friendly. We ordered two different ramen bowls to share between three people as well as the brussel sprouts, which were the best I've had in my life (no exaggeration!). The ramen itself was exquisite. If you're ever in Logan Square - this restaurant is a gem.

Wasabi used to be BYOB and serve BOTH ramen and sushi. It was a solid 5 out of 5 rating every time! It was our happy place! Best ramen in the ciy, served quickly, with wonderful sushi and skewers to back it up. A BYOB bargain. But then they split the restaurant into two, and Wasabi Ramen moved into the space next door, and now only serve ramen and are no longer BYOB. We waited a solid 25-30 minutes for ramen which is longer than we've ever waited at the old place when they did both. AFTER we ate ramen, we slid next door to the newly renamed Wasabi Sushi & Robata and had some sushi and skewers and got to open our BYOB bottle. I understand that this change was to have two kitchens: 1 for ramen, and 1 for sushi, but the concept got in the way of the customer. We're so sad to see this change happen after being Wasabi loyalists for years.

love this place have been back 2 x. long wait so get there early- if you dont get there early plan on hanging out for at least 30 minutes in wait. Ramen is awesome so is the calamari. loved it.

We got the vegan ramen which was delicious but a bit overpriced for the size ($14). Also which there was hot sauce instead of just chili oil. The ambience was great though

I thought ramen was Japanese for fill your kids up for 99 cents. I had no idea that it could be this good! Our waitress was very personable and helped us understand the menu. . We had a sushi roll and it was very good, too. BYOB

We lived in Japan for 4 years and this is the closest authentic Ramen that we have experienced since being back in the United States. They have recently expanded which is no surprise given the high quality of their food. The Ramen is now in the new section and has a full bar now where before it was BYOB. The old section is where you can get Yakitori and Sushi and Takoyaki which is very good and that section is BYOB. Again for the real deal Japanese food go to Wasabi for all of it.

On a recent weekend visit we ate at a few ramen shops and Wasabi was by far, the best. From the cool, friendly vibe to the genuine and thoughtfully prepared dishes - you cannot go wrong! The broth is hands down AMAZING - compared to a few other highly rated ramen shops in the downtown area, which left us wondering "why all the hype about ramen?" Until we visited Wasabi...will make it a destination for future trips - menu is full of fabulous choices! BYO and YUM!

So the wait was pretty ridiculous- arrived around 5:15pm and waited over 45 minutes for seats at the bar. It is byob with a cvs across the street. However, the food was amazing! Ordered the basic ramen with pork- ate the whole freaking bowl. The special salmon belly maki was also delicious. Many people looked like thy ordered the sushi and apps along with the ramen. I'd recommend sitting at a table- the bar stools are pretty uncomfortable. Nevertheless, really friendly and courteous wait staff.

I love Japanese food and this place really serves up an adventures menu. Everything we've had was pretty amazing yet affordable. I find the restaurant current, young and vibrant. Its been our favourite for Friday date-night, especially because they usually have a table within a 40 min wait.

Stopped by here for a bite based on reviews from Trip Advisor. I recently read about the resurgence of Logan Square in Bon Apetit and had to check it out. It was a colder night and the Ramen was rich and tasty with lots of yummy stuff in it. Sushi was very good as were the brussel sprouts. Nice casual atmosphere...would recommend just based on Ramen!

The food is solid and I dig the character of the place. I wish they had reservations for larger groups though, the place can have a considerable wait at times.

My Family and I traveled from Fishers IN to Cicero for the Buddha's birthday at the local Buddhist Temple and revisiting Dad's old haunts. We were pleasantly surprised of the ambiance and the feel of Wasabi. We had missed SOCAL J Town and this made us all homesick! The food did not disappoint either! It was just like Mom's or very close. The kids had Kara-Age and my wife and I split the Hakata Classic. Like I noted earlier the food was excellent and we will be back!

Wasabi is just another example of big city dining at its finest: Small intimate location, reasonable prices, and absolutely DYNAMITE food. Not to mention it is BYOB, which means your bill will be about half of what you would spend at a similar restaurant. I haven't tried the sushi, but the ramen is to die for.....The spicy pork belly ramen is the best that my wife and I have ever tasted....and she lived in Japan for a year. Bottom line, great service, great food and overall fun place......Grab a bottle of your favorite wine and give it a try, I guarantee you will have a good time

best thing on the menu: pork belly buns. OMG The menu is really extensive and vegetarian friendly. On top of that, it is BYOB so it is really affordable as well. Really friendly service.

My favorite ramen place in Chicago! It was a bit dark when I first entered, but that was okay. Another downer was that they had a small selection of drinks. Rating the ramen alone, it is the best one! Took a taxi from the hotel and it wasn't bad of a ride. Very tasteful!

Marinated octopus does not necessarily sound all that delectable, but Taco Wasabi, which you don't actually find on their menu, it a perfect balance of crunch and the wasabi marinade. They are small portions, but the taco wasabis are worth every penny. The ramen, especially the spicy ramen with the extra pork is amazing. I have been trying to find all of the places I can that serve ramen, and this is by far the best. The portions are large - I can only finish half every time. The atmosphere is also nice and cozy. It is not a very big place, so there are frequently lines if you come during dinner rush hour. However, the location is also BYOB and there is no corkage fee to offset the wait.

Family had three different types of ramen. Hakata Red, tsukemon and classic. All were good but not outstanding. Presentation was good as was taste. Broth temperature and meat temperature was lower than it should have been. Noodles were very good. They also had no chicken products that day; we wanted chicken karaage. Service was okay.

A friend recommended Wasabi and described it as "the real deal" when it came to ramen, and it certainly didn't disappoint. The broth was rich and flavourful, and the pork belly pretty much melted in your mouth. Didn't get to try the sushi, but it looked very good (and the reviews were outstanding)

The place has no reservations and appears to have a constant wait, but we were seated in 20 minutes or so. We stopped by after beers at the nearby Revolution Brewing Co. Ramen here is tasty and more filling than you might imagine. The tokanatsu is rich and satisfying, with mushrooms and chicken. The spicy garlic is pretty spicy but very tasty. The fried chicken appetizer is really yummy. No alcohol so bring your own - many people did just that when we visited. Very casual, fun place.

Wasn't sure what to expect from a ramen dinner - but this place was pretty good! The pork belly in the miso ramen was delightful! It was all very filling and tasty!! The sushi was good too!

we arrived at what we hoped was an early enough hour on a saturday that we'd be ahead of the rush. nope--the four of us were told that we were in a for a 35 minute wait and i think it was every minute of that. it was hard to find a spot to wait where we weren't blocking the door or under the wait staff's feet, since the area set aside for people waiting was filled to the brim. at last we hit the top of the list and were seated at this kind of communal table featuring a huge triangular slab of wood--we were at one corner with one or two other parties also at that table (fine with us, but be warned of the possibility if that's a problem for you--there are also booths, seats at the bar, and maybe other tables?). i was the only newbie and i wound up not ordering ramen--i got the katsu-don which is breaded pork belly and sweet onions over rice. but first, my experienced compannions knew to order appetizers so that we'd have something to eat as we waited--there were garlicky fried brussel sprouts--amazing, and edamame to tide us over. i loved my katsu-don but be aware that it is a smaller entree than the ramen dishes--again, fine for me but maybe not if you have a huge appetite after your wait. i didn't try anyone's ramen because they all ordered spicier things than i wanted to sample, but it looked good and they were all happy--the only complaint i heard was that the spoon with such a straight angle of handle to bowl made it hard to get the broth if one had a beard. the room is noisy--maybe just the top of what we could handle as we tried to talk to each other. the staff is great--really good service. i'd love to go back but maybe on a less popular night if such a thing exists?

The menu at this BYOB is full of thoughtful well prepared dished but be sure not to miss their namesake, the ramen. Get there early to miss the lines of legions of other hungry ramen eaters. Atmosphere is loud and fun and prices are surprisingly reasonable, but don't tell them that.

What a heavenly meal: The two of us enjoyed a delicious dinner & super great service from Ariel Z. My daughter had just been here 2 days ago so she is a lover of the Ramen here. The only complaint is the less than friendly hostess who could stand to be more pleasant & more accomodating to patrons. Our Food We had bowls of rich spectacular tasty Tonkatsu Ramen, fantastic Yakitori Short Rib (tasted like Steak), Yakitori Black mushrooms (just 2 small slices, too salty & way overpriced ), some fresh daily specials of Toro (Salmon belly) & Hotaki (Scallop nigiri) both sweet fresh & excellent. Just needed another stomach because we finished everything!

I have eaten at 4 other restaurants for ramen in chicago and this is my favorite. The meat and soup broth is savory and amazing. I really enjoy the toppings and the dumplings. Overall a very pleasant ramen experience!!!! Try wasabi first then make your way around the city :)

Best ramen (so far). I haven't been to Japan so that's why that phrase is there. I didn't even realize how amazing the ramen in Wasabi was until I tried Momofuku in Toronto. NOT EVEN CLOSE! The soup has so many layers of umami it's out of this world. It is seriously so delicious. Then you add the egg and the pork belly and the mushrooms and oh my god. Seriously. Also, wow, the serving! So very worth it. Please go to Wasabi. Don't even try other places anymore. Just go straight to Wasabi.

I love ramen. Love it. This is a curse. Those who have been to Japan and tasted the real deal can understand why ramen in the US is simply not the same. Deep inside we all hope to find that one ramen shop that can replicate the authentic flavor and experience of true Japanese ramen. Wasabi comes about as close as you can get to great ramen in the US. The depth of flavor of the broth and texture of the noodles was very good. The only big disappointment was the temperature of the broth. It was no where near scolding hot, like true Japanese ramen. This was especially disappointing because I visited on a cold December night and I was freezing after standing outside in line for 40 minutes. Ramen needs to be hot people. In terms of atmosphere, the place is pretty hipster-y. Would have liked to see people from different walks, but it might also just have been coincidental. The service was OK. Nothing special there, but then again, not much is needed as long as they deliver to you that bowl of deliciousness.

We had a few locals recommend this place for sushi!! It was fantastic!! What I liked best is that you can bring your own alcohol and no fee to do so!! They also DO NOT take reservations so plan on getting their early or waiting. They won't seat you until the entire party is there, so pan for that too. The menu is huge!! The ramen is amazing, the Brussel sprouts are fantastic!! Sushi is fantastic!! You will love it here! We are definitely making a trip back here the next time we are in town!

Good selection of ramen and sushi. Had been craving yakitori and the place definitely satisfied the cravings! Fills up fast, but they will call you when your table is ready while you grab a drink next door. BYOB.

the service is chaotic, dishes come out in all the wrong order and servers just yell out the dish name is and you have to claim it begging. really unpleasant. lots of room to improve, but i think they like it the way it is. i don't think poor service and ill mannered staff are ever acceptable. impossible to carry on a conversation with the noise, physical interference, and acoustics. more industrial feed lot, than dining.

Wonderful bowl of vegan noodles and spicy broth. Pork belly was also wonderful. Nice place would definitely come back.

We went late, 8:30 pm on a Sunday and immediately were seated in a good size booth with wood benches. Sounds uncomfortable, but it wasn't. The noise level is loud, but that is to be expected. Now for the Ramen, the luscious dense broth in the Spicy Ramen wafted throughout my whole body! I felt wrapped in the aroma. Filled with a generous amount of bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, roasted pork belly and 1/2 soft cooked (in the middle), made for a little bowl of heaven. We started with the seafood ceviche, I won't review it, just go for the Ramen! This is a MUST on the go return list! Thanks Ken from Hana Sushi in Rohnert Park, Ca for this recommendation.

Fantastic experience! Beautiful food with deep rich flavors like nothing we’ve experienced at a ramen restaurant!

The food is indeed great with a true Japanese flavor. The ramen is top notch but do try the tempura too. The restaurant has its own mini-bar. One of the best Japanese restaurants in Chicago.

Trendy little spot with great pork belly buns and of course Ramen to die for! I noticed it was small but good things come in small packages...and this one is a must. Service was impeccable and friendly staff all around, inviting vibe, and great food- What more could you ask for?

This place is definitely a wonderful find. Street parking...no reservations...no texting when table ready...and usually a line to get in. This place rocks....The pork buns were out of this world....really! The sushi was also first class (we got the crabby wasabi and artmex...The Tonkotsu Ramen was delicious!! To top off the dinner had velvety mochi for dessert. Reasonably priced. Good service...very busy...will be back!

Come early or expect to stand in line. And, even if you do stand in line, it is worth the wait. I have come twice now and been so pleased. It is BYOB. Our server both times has had a great knowledge of the menu and been able to make suggestions, as it can be overwhelming. I doubt you could make a bad choice, however. You can easily come and make a meal of a few appetizers. We have tried so many dishes I am not sure what to recommend.

Very good restaurant , with good ramen and rices dishes ! We enjoyed our time there and will certainly come back again

Their slow-cooked pork broth is phenomenal. It’s the base for multiple styles of ramen. The pork buns are amazing too.

It was like walking into a church, lights set low, the crowd calm with only a slight murmur in the background, diners hunched over their food as if it was a sacrament. That was the first impression I took entering Wasabi, the Japanese ramen, noodle, and comfort food restaurant. The doors of this Logan Square eatery open at 5:00 PM; we arrived at 6:00 and the place was already packed. Of course, there was room at the bar, but since we were celebrating a birthday, we wanted a table. A six top was available near the front door and the hostess kindly seated us. Since it’s a BYOB, we brought a couple bottles of Pinot Noir to complement the dishes. Eric, our friendly server, opened the bottles and poured our wine with the acumen of a sommelier. We began our meal with skewers of Yakitori short ribs, pork belly, and chicken thigh. Each was very tasty and well-presented, though the short ribs were a little tough. We followed that with two very beautiful sushi rolls, eel avocado and spicy tuna. Both were taste-sensations, like eating art. To end the small plate extravaganza, we ordered Hamachi Kama, grilled yellowtail collar, sea salt, daikon radish, and house ponzu. I have never eaten anything so interestingly different and tasty, a must for adventurous diners. For our entrees, we each ordered a bowl of ramen. I chose Hamachi Kama, a combination of egg noodles, pork broth, pork belly, soft boiled egg, marinated bamboo shoot, bean sprouts, sesame, and scallions, which was not only delicious, but great fun slurping. Linda ordered the tempura, lightly breaded shrimp, Japanese sweet potato, Japanese eggplant, green beans, shiitake mushroom, onion, and zucchini that was delicious and not the slightest bit greasy. If you’ve heard Hozier’s “Take me to Church,” you get the theme of this restaurant. Wasabi is a church of reverence to the creativity and beauty of Japanese culinary art. A line in “Take me to Church” goes like this: “Something meaty for the main course.” You may not get anything too meaty for the main course, but you will eat at one of the city’s hottest restaurants, and eat great food prepared in a high art form at a very reasonable price. Here's a tip: If you arrive after 6:00, parking is free on Maplewood just east of the restaurant.

I am a bit of a ramen enthusiast and find Wasabi to be the best out of the probably 15 places I have tried in Chicago. I can't believe I am admitting this (I am a carnivore) but I get the vegan ramen with the normal egg noodles. The spice is perfect and I love the pork substitute they put in it. I also always get the Art Mex sushi roll. I don't know of another sushi roll I like more. Only downside to Wasabi is we have to go early to beat the crowds but we make that sacrifice.

You go here for the food. I took a Japanese business friend and he raved that the food was just like Japan. And he is very sophisticated and critical. I love ramen and this was the best I have ever had in the USA. Ah, service was great with Seth not only being friendly, but understanding our Japanese requests and fulfilling them, for example Japanese hot pepper, an extra plate for the salad, explains the green tea was made with a tea bag. We tried the oyster shooters, served in a glass, just wonderful. Beef and chicken skewers very good, perfectly done, and a too die for flavor. The veggie filled dumplings were mouth watering, the asparagus grilled to absolute perfection, the salad made with house dressing and fried tofu was outstanding, the Japanese pickles a wonderful assortment of flavors. This as a BYOB restaurant. It was incredibly crowded on the Wednesday night we were there, with no reservations and a ten minute or so wait for a table. Inside was very crowded and loud so we opted to sit outside. The crowd is dressed down, local, but a good mix of ages, and some but not many Asian extraction. The restroom needs some work. But overall, the food was absolutely great, the total check $85 without tip, and we ate and ate. I cannot wait to return again and again. ZB

Wasabi... freaking legit! Apps. Pork belly buns. Best (only?) in town. Delicious, but slightly skimps on the meat. Takoyaki. Must try. It's made of more batter than squid, but it's a rare delicacy. Ramen. Tonkatsu and spicy garlic. These are the broth bases to gun for. Can't decide? I'll give the tonkatsu the edge, but tack on the option for ultimate. The soft boiled egg? Perfect. Bamboo shoots? Plentiful. Meat? Can't beat it. You'll get two slices of braised pork belly (fatty) and two slices of thin pork belly (tender) -- very generous. Intangibles. Decent amount of space for a ramen shop. Modern decor and great atmosphere. Waits are significantly less than those in LA and NYC, sometimes even non-existent.

Tip: BYOB. Pros: delicious food, fresh ingredients, creative, good presentation, service ok (it could be better) nice decor, authentic Japanese restaurant (99% Asian guests). We had the pork belly spring rolls. They were terrific! Really tasty. Interesting mix of flavors. We also tasted the tonkotsu and spicy ramen noodles. The broth was very flavorful and rich. Delicious.

We enjoyed everything on the menu - the Brussels Sprouts, Unagi with Brie, and the Vegan Ramen were are delicious. Lots of mochi flavors for dessert, too! I will definitely be going back!

Wasabi is a comfortable and rather small space on Milwaukee Avenue that offers a deeply satisfying array of dishes from snacks and appetizers to hearty bowls of ramen. The heart of any ramen is a rich broth, and Wasabi combines a wonderfully balanced broth with flavorful homemade noodles. I also enjoyed starters including a pork belly bao (a "bun" like a fluffy taco) and intensely flavored charred brussels sprouts. Two bowls of ramen were both deeply flavorful and very satisfying on a chilly March afternoon. The wine list is nothing special but there's a good list of sakes in every price range and quite a few local beers that match very well with the food. Warm, informal and very professional service was the ingredient that brought all the other aspects of Wasabi together. I can't wait to go back.

This place was recommended to me and it did not disappoint! I had te takoyaki as a side, very delicious, full of octopus pieces. The noodles I got were the tonkostu pork, the broth was so yummy and the noodles were cooked perfectly! My friend for be vegetarian option and it looked delicious and very filling too! :) highly recommended!

Ramen has became very trendy food lately. Its fulfilling, Umami tasty, quick, and has so many options. There are a lot of Ramen shops in Chicago and we had tried bunch of them so far. I must admit that Ramen Wasabi ranks top on my list for that kind of food. We have been there three times already to no disappointment, same well served Ramen soup every single time. I like it`s inside decor, atmosphere and great service. Keep in mind that they are getting crowded very quickly and we only visited them on Sundays. There are quite a few Ramen options they have and we tried Spicy Miso, Hakata Red, Shoyu, Vegeterian all of them delicious. They have the best meat in the soup I had tried so far, silky, tender almost like butter and Vegeterian ramen is also one of the best we had so far. I recommend their Fire Bean Sprouts and Kimchi as a side while enjoying your soup. On their menu you can see Boost Flavor you can add to any ramen option but my tip; just order one for two people, it is really enough to share over two bowls. I definitely like the draft beer option they have to compliment the food!! This place is worth the visit for sure!!

The ramen was to die for! The skewers are great, we had a variety of them, the pork belly was worth getting 2. They also have a large selection of rolls.

Here and there around Chicago, you can get mediocre ramen, and of course plenty of places ladle out lousy ramen by the tankload. But really delicious ramen, with complex, rich stock and silky noodles and wonderful add-ins - we had pretty much concluded that such a thing did not exist for us any nearer than the West Coast. Then, last month, on an impulse, we dropped by Wasabi and, on an even crazier impulse, ordered the tonkatsu ramen. Oh. my. It is just wonderful. I could describe every amazing rich satisfying thing about it, but the most effective thing to say is that since our first visit we have been back twice for the same thing. We've also tried some of the little skewers as starters - for $2, a few tasty bites of various grilled meats. A very nice little savory moment to take the edge off while you wait for your dinner. We still have not tried the sushi, but if it is up to the standards of everything else, it ought to be terrific too. Also, friendly, informative service, reasonable prices, a pleasant room, a convenient location near the Logan Square Blue Line stop, and Wasabi is BYO.

The long waiting when you reach the place is indicative of what they do to their food! Absolutely no frill attached, the beauty of this restaurant is the awesome Ramens they serve. Quick enough to serve, I wish they took reservations beforehand. I have visited the place twice and waited 45 minutes on an average for the table. The serving is good and will leave you full. I could not finish mine with appetizers added and did not had the time to let it settle down to finish the rest. They were happy to pack it for to go. Pork belly and Kimchee spring rolls are something you just can't miss! My husband and his friend were competing for the last piece and so they tossed. He regretted losing the toss so much that he couldn't stop himself from ordering another! I personally did not like those housemade dumplings. Amongst ramen soups, Tonkotsu is my favorite. I like Miso too. Just go to this place. When you get out, there is a next door mexican grocery store if you like that food too! I purchased bulk size Masa harina for my amazing homemade tortillas. You could explore that during your wait time but dont miss being called for your turn on the table.

This place was recommended by several friends so I went there expecting outstanding ramen. We ordered appetizers (ceviche & gyoza) which were really good. The ramen were good but not exceptional and thus falling short of a 5 star rating. The BYOB feature is nice.

Phenomenal ramen. Pork was delicious and plentiful. We ordered a lot of the appetizers to taste and take home, but we finished everything. Poke bowl with rice was great and might be gluten-free but best to ask the servers. Trying to plan the next visit soon. Beware parking may be a bit difficult. Come early or be prepared to wait a bit. It’s worth any wait.

The sauce with the gyoza was so good. The ramen is very good and one of the best in the area. The staff is very helpful with explaining the menu and providing suggestions.

This place is great. The ramen is very good and the pork and chicken buns are world class!!! I had the spicy ramen and it was perfect, not too spicy not too weak.

I ate lunch here with friends, and it was the first time I've ever had legitimate ramen. I really enjoyed it! I had the Sapporo Miso ramen, while everyone else enjoyed bowls of the Spicy Roasted Garlic Miso ramen. The noodles, pork, and vegetables were excellent, and absolutely cooked to perfection! However, the broth was too salty for my taste. The atmosphere was very open and airy due to the large windows, and the light music and Asian decor made for a great atmosphere! The prices were also very reasonable, given the large portion sizes. The wait staff were very friendly, also! We definitely enjoyed this meal, and plan to come back for more!

Wow, 5 of us enjoyed a great meal tonight! Get there early for a table or you will wait in their famous long line... Tonkatsu - 4 of us all had it: the Best! Rich, thick, flavorful, but not too salty, perfect! Hamachi kama - so tender, yummy Umi shooter - delicious! Just wish thee was more, too small Pork belly Buns - tasty! Tempura - my friend seemed to like it Chicken breast & mushrooms Skewers - same friend enjoyed those Chicken lollipops - ok, nothing spectacular Tofu apptzr - tasty, the broth was super salty Mochi - green tea & black sesame - ok, but no very pronounced flavors Service was so-so... They also put 20% Tip for our table of 5 on the bill which is unexpected for under 6 in a party. But no matter as we would give that anyway. Only, we would have doubled the tip if we hadn't looked carefully. The seats are all hard wood so not very comfortable on the bottom. Come for One Reason: the Tonkatsu!!!!!
Great food and ambiance
The food was excellent. The Raman was spectacular and plenty to share. So rich and flavorful, it was the highlight of our meal. The sushi was fresh and perfectly prepared. It is a BYOB establishment, which we forgot, but there is a liquor store just north off Milwaukee by the blue line and was able to walk there and back in under 15 minutes. They do not accept reservations but we arrived at 9 pm and there was no wait. Definitely a place I will frequent when in town.
