Best Pizza ever...even though its not deep dish!

By Lauraelliot |

The pizza here was absolutely incredible. After a week of deep dish we thought we would be disappointed with a thin crust, but quite the opposite, it was our favourite pizza of the trip. Server gave great beer recommendations and the deep friend cheese curds were unreal. You have to go here!

Great Everything

By atjtetmt |

We had looked up another pizza place nearby, but passed this one on the way and decided to stop. We had pizza and cheese curds. The cheese curds were delicious. The meat lovers pizza was also very good. We got the thin crust and the edge was burnt, but looking around that's just how they do it there it seems. It tasted good and it was the perfect balance of all the toppings. Service was also great.

Great pizza and fun!

Great pizza with a crispy crust. Fun atmosphere with great staff and loved the salad. Pro tip: top shelf booze was not expensive!

Neighborhood gem still the best...

By Anthony K |

I haven’t been here in over 20 years, but it’s still a great neighborhood tradition🤩🤩🤩 Most people know Ranalli’s for their fantastic pizzas, but that’s just one of many great dishes served at this hidden away gathering spot. It’s tucked away in the Lincoln Park area and offers shaded outdoor seating and several inside dining rooms. And for bourbon drinkers, don’t miss the Loretta Mule🤩

Loud, family friendly joint

By Cindi51058 |

We had a couple of pizzas (none Chicago style however). The thin pizza was really cooked well. The cheese pizza seemed to have less cheese than I like but the prosciutto and arugula pizza was awesome. Very average atmosphere but certainly a family friendly spot and prices were extremely reasonable for a city! Within walking distance of Hotel Lincoln.

Rocco's Cafe and Pizzeria: Great Food and Upbeat Atmosphere

By ChicagoCityGirl10 |

Rocco's Cafe and Pizzeria: Lincoln Park I was a little hesitant at first to try out Rocco's after Ranalli's shut down for so long, but the wait was worth it. Rocco's outdoor seating is second to none and the pizza is tasty! I ordered the Margharita pizza and the chocolate lave cake for desert. Both were surprisingly delicious. I reccommend Rocco's to anyone in the Chicago area.

Good pizza, average service, terrible wine.

By prplx |

Title says it all. The thin crust pizza was nice, though on the salty side. Salad was fresh and crisp. The service was a bit slow and we had to keep asking for water on an incredibly hot day (we sat on the terrasse). The Pinot Noir we ordered obviously came from a cask (there is no wine by the bottle on the menu, only glass or carafe). It had a weird froth in the carafe and tasted awfull. Stick with beer at that place.

Excellent

Good food, good atmosphere and brilliant staff. A great stumble and would recommend and return you do not need a pizza each !

Good food

By romanpiekosz |

We went there for school event, There was a lot of pizzas and salads. All were very good. The place is by main street, but you cannot hear a noise. You can pick a table inside or outside. There is a lot of tv's, so you can be up to speed on all games. The service was good and waitresses were pretty nice. I recommend this place. RomanP

Tasty and cute

Very family friendly (someone even had their little dog with them), attractive patio with flowers in the summer, nice casual food and drinks with helpful servers.

Great late night menu with excellent deep dish pizza

By bengals09 |

We ended up eating here twice while in Chicago. Great diverse menu with good quality. Worked well for some deep dish pizza as well as our late night snack. Cool pub/sports bar feel with a good beer selection.

Unique Flavors Rock

By Clay G |

This weekend, we ordered Ranalli’s for takeout because we were craving pizza but this is a Wisconsin bar and it was during the Wisconsin game. They have a lot of very unique flavors. The hot honey is delicious, but the dill pickle pizza really stuck out. I think more people should put pickles on pizza. Overall, it was delicious and I hope to come back and dine in soon.

Great place!

By QStat |

Enjoyed outdoor seating on a nice fall day...host seemed a little surly, but waiter was excellent. Great beer list. Excellent bruschetta and large, fresh salads!

Locals love it. Us, not so much

By 2kils |

This is a real local place, packed to the gills with Hawks fans. So any criticism falls flat for sure. But, we found the service slow. the crowds made it tough for our larger group to stay filled with beer and water. The pizza took a long, long time. It was good, but only good. I'd say, it was she wrong place for us the visit given the crowds. No blame on the staff. No issues with the food itself, but it is just deep dish pizza.

Great Pizza

By Raphael L |

While we typically order in from this pizza restaurant, tonight we rode our bikes there and sat outside. We had fantastic service from GINA G with a smile. She was knowledgeable on the menu and in ordering appropriate sizes. We had a small thin crust pizza and large dinner salad that were superb. While we always order in ,this whet our appetite to go back and have pizza right out of the oven. The best we think in Chicago and surrounding environs.

Okay experience

By Leslie F |

We went to Rannalli's for dinner based on the recommendation of the person who checked us into our hotel. We were not impressed. The pizza was okay. The best part of the evening was my drink. We sat outside and felt as though we were in the middle of a college party - lots of young, rowdy adults after a Cubs game. It was our most expensive and worst meal on our trip.

This kept me fat through college. the fact that they were half a block away didn't hurt either

Great patio, great service, great food!

By AdrianQJones |

LOVE this place! Great options. Wait staff are so so friendly. Food is fantastic - love the Ranalli's salad. They'll even let adults order off the kiddie menu!

My favorite pizza in town

By Kid B |

I go to Chicago often, and am a pizza nut. This is my favorite pie in town. It's not the thick crust most tourist (but not locals) think of as Chicago pizza. Order the thin crust (not the super thin) with sausage and mushroom and you will be in pizza heaven.

Great food! Great service!

By Kyle |

I just went to this place for the first time, and I was not disappointed. The food and service was excellent. They are an all out packers bar during packer games. Go early if you want a table.

Pizza and Beer hits the spot

By GoodykeTravelers |

Nice bar/restaurant to visit. We ate the Ranallis spicy pizza and the Pan Style with all meat. The spicy selection lived up the description and was excellent. The pan style was good but too much bread and not enough toppings, almost seemed like you were left with a bread stick at the end. We also had the family style salad bowl which was as expected, average nothing too spectacular but it was just a salad. They had a nice selection of craft beers as well so we had a great time! Our server was a bit grumpy bu t she had worked a long shift and it was late at night so I will let her of the hook this time... Overall a good place for pizza, not the best in town but good and we did not have to wait to be seated.

Huge place and great food

By Derek C |

This is a great spot for lunch, dinner, and drinks. Amazing patio, huge inside space, and tons of TVs. All fairly priced too.

Great Burgers

By toujoursparis1 |

Ranalli's has one of the nicer patios in that general area. It's always crowded and lively. TV's outside for Cub's fans. Both of us had burgers which were excellent. Their fries come normally with some kind of sweetish seasoning, but ask and they will leave the seasoning off and they are delicious. We saw some pizzas go by to other tables and they looked amazing. Service was good.

Lincoln Park pizza

By Shawn F |

We came here based on a recommendation of someone that lives close by. The pizza and salad were good but the drinks and service was great. Nice place to stop in the Lincoln Park area.

Great choice near the zoo

By bloomcrew |

We were looking for a lunch spot we could walk to from the Lincoln Park Zoo. So glad we found this friendly, neighborhood bar/restaurant. Huge menu full of mostly Italian specialties and pizza. We really enjoyed our thin crust pizza and a nice side salad. Good server. Very laid back atmosphere. 5 min walk from the zoo makes this a great spot for families to take a meal break from their zoo visit. Something here to satisfy every kind of eater...

Love the Outdoor Seating and Friendly Staff!

By William D |

We went there on a recent Sunday afternoon and the weather was perfect for us to dine outside under the heaters. The staff was friendly and attentive - they rotated TVs set up in the windows so that we could view them outside, they made great recommendations, and they were responsive. The pizza and salad were delicious, and the draft beer variety was great. We would definitely recommend this casual place to enjoy a drink, the game, food, and friends.

Pizza and Wine

By Brian P |

Super friendly staff very attentive but not hovering over you. The have thin crust pizza which is very good and on Sunday they have this great deal by a pitcher of wine or beer get a heart shaped pizza. Special was due to it being valentines day but hey also have great deals. They have game night every night and plenty of TV's to keep you updated in your sports.

Big disappointment

By Shirley G |

Long wait, very noisy. Pizza crust burnt and like cardboard to cut. Overpriced drinks and food. Toppings were good, and waitress lovely. Pavement dangerously uneven outside, so that tables wobbled. Zero appeal for ambience, food and prices. Will not return.

Great Atmopshere and food

By Antoine V |

This spot is really great during summer times. The patio is huge and dog friendly! We just took a bunch of appetizers and drinks. Everything was tasty and served fast. Do you need another reason?

Lincoln Park pizza

By Shawn F |

We came here based on a recommendation of someone that lives close by. The pizza and salad were good but the drinks and service was great. Nice place to stop in the Lincoln Park area.

Exceeded Expectations

By TSWr8 |

We were looking for a pizza lunch and the large outdoor patio appealed to us. Our expectations were not high as there were many pizza locations that were ranked higher and Ranalli’s didn’t have many ratings. We were pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the deep dish pizza. Patio was wonderful on a sunny day and location is great (near Lincoln Park). Big shout out to our server Jenna who was highly attentive and very efficient. Would return.

Dinner time

By Bryan L |

We stopped in half hour before they opened and they were good enough to let us sit at table and have drinks and kids color until kitchen opened. Specialty pizza was very good, kids loved the pretzel dog. Nice place and fun and friendly staff

Christmas Weekend Pizza

By Dan F |

To be honest, we were up in Lincoln Park hoping to have pizza at another place but there was a two hour wait and we were hungry -- so we walked over to Ranalli's and were lucky to get seated and enjoyed a couple of pizza's in a place that I remember from back in the late 1980's. We sat in the bar area and loved the atmosphere and the local pizza flavor. One of those places in Lincoln Park that to me is a lesser-known Chicago tradition. Would definitely go back.

Wow. Tasty an filling

By devaughn1972 |

Was in Chicago for a one day trip and asked the hotel staff to recommend a place that delivered and was good. They suggested I try Ranallis and I'm glad they did. The cxn sandwich was large, moist, filling and a great value. It was so big it took 2 days to eat it. On my subsequent Visits this will be one of my must stop places

Good pizza

By Dean P |

Staff was very friendly and took good care of us. Good atmosphere, the only we were disappointed in was that we wanted real Chicago style deep deep dish pizza which they didn't have. Overall a good place to eat.

Excellent food, great for a large group

By Alexis |

Loved the deep dish pizza with sausage and pepperoni, and the buffalo chicken pizza. They also had great tots and wings. My brother's volleyball team is sponsored by Ranalli's, so they get a free bottle of fireball and two pitchers of beer after every game. It's a popular place, so it was packed, but because it's so spacious, we didn't have a problem finding a table for 7 of us. I was impressed with how attentive the wait staff was while it was so crowded.

Sports bar/Italian restaurant

By CMBarbie |

There was a large menu and it was family friendly. Outdoor seating available during warmer time of year. We had the Redline sandwich and it was delicious!

Patio pizza to enjoy

By sealbeachtraveler |

Delightful patio with a vibrant young vibe. Attentive service, friendly but not pushy. Tasty veggie pizza. Great Greek salad. Good but not enormous portions.

Great Local Patio

By keyze |

We were biking along the Lakeshore Trail and decided to take a detour into some neighborhoods to try a more local spot. We saw Ranalli's and a strong Saturday afternoon crowd enjoying the patio and pulled over. Everyone who worked here was friendly and we soon had a great table and two great blackberry vodka cocktails. Our server recommended the prosciutto and arugula pizza as lighter fare and it was fantastic. Light crispy crust, fresh greens - it was light but we ate more! The crowd got livelier and more crowded as more friends arrived, but still the atmosphere was relaxed and easy. This probably isn't a tourist destination, but that made it even better. Great place!

Neighborhood Pizza Place

By DSHBOLDLY |

If you are new to the neighborhood or don’t want to order from a generic pizza chain, Ranalli’s is a perfect place to get pizza. If the weather is nice, they have a large outdoor patio for your pleasure and the pizza goes well with beer. The taste is consistent and always brings you back to good memories.

Food was good/OK

By workingfortheweekend |

The bar and restaurant were OK. I had always heard that this place was fantastic, which it was good. I think the glowing reviews I heard before hand, had my expectations too high. Don't get me wrong, it was good....just not GREAT!!!

Pay attention to the rats ...

By nemessis |

The building is full of rats. The restaurant owners don't care as long as they mae profit so the rats roam free at night in their kitchen and the rest of the building ... you might be sharing your food with them (although the rats tasted it first) ...

Great Place

By Jessica |

My husband and I sat outside on the large patio area which was super cute! We had deep dish pizza which tasted amazing and a giant pretzel. Staff was friendly and service was good despite how busy it was.

Disappointed in Every Aspect

By Traci R |

I guess we should have known by how noisy it was when we inquired about wait time, but we assumed the noise level would be better once you got away from the bar area. Not so at all. We couldn't even have a conversation during dinner it was so ridiculously noisy in the restaurant. There was a speaker just above our table and, honestly, at times the music hurt my ears. Added to this was the fact that people were talking way above normal, conversational levels because they HAD to, and it was just awful. I literally couldn't wait to get out of there! The service was the worst I've experienced in some time. Our waitress was short with us and looked at us as if we were stupid because we had to tell her we couldn't hear her. Now, it's not as if the party at our table were a bunch of old geezers that can't hear! Sure, my husband and I are middle-aged, but we were in mixed company with twenty-somethings, and they complained about the noise, too. When she brought refills out, she plopped them on the edge of the table without a word and moved on. Our impression was that she felt like she had been imposed upon to do us a favor. While trying to deal with the noise level and waiting for the food, my thought was, "Well, the food had better be awfully good!" The verdict? The thin crust, while decent, was really burnt along the edges. The toppings weren't that great, either. Overall, just a big disappointment. Chicago is my hometown, and I'm sorry I chose Ranalli's to "show off" my city's pizza heritage to family from my adopted home of Wisconsin. Next time, it'll be a tried-and-true favorite like Vito & Nick's.

Rocco Ranalli's

By chi_dave |

The name has been Rocco Ranalli's for some time now. Ranalli's on Lincoln closed a few years ago, Rocco's took its place (with an updated menu), then suddenly was renamed Rocco Ranalli's. The good news is the pizza remains the same. We especially like the pan pizza, it is not "deep dish" like you would find at other places; the crust is a bit thicker (the better to hold the generous ingredients I guess). It takes a little longer to bake, so it might seem service is a little slow. You can skip the calamari appetizer, for sure, it is not worth the money. They have a really nice variety of craft beer, both bottles and on tap. A big attraction during the summer is the outside space / beer garden - it is quite large and will get pretty crowded. The inside has multiple rooms, with plenty of flat screens throughout. The restrooms are through the bar and down a pretty steep flight of stairs (they get steeper the later you stay). We've been coming to Ranalli's for many years now (it's about a 15 minute walk for us), and we certainly will continue to visit.

Great food, pleasant atmosphere

By mom44003 |

I wanted Chicago pizza and Ranalli's was close and crowded - always a good sign especially when it's not prime meal time. We sat outside and ordered a veggie pizza. Delicious. The waitstaff and the other diners were all pleasant. Happy employees and happy patrons make for a great restaurant experience. Truly a Lincoln Park treasure.

Fun Place

By cameraguy52 |

First time visitor to this establishment and can't wait to go back. Son-in-law took us here before we went to see the Christmas Lights at Lincoln Park Zoo. Typical pizza place with lots of fun food to pick from the menu. Lots of fun and great food. Would love to go back in the summer to try the outdoor seating.

Sugar Junkie- definitely give it a try!

By Sarah |

Tried the new “Sugar Junkie” gelato window that just opened up inside Ranalli’s! Absolutely fantastic! So many different creative and classic flavor options. Fast service and good prices! I recommend trying the cookie ice cream sandwich!

Great food and fun setting

By Acton K |

The pizzas are great and the various starters superb! A fun atmosphere and even more fun on a Saturday Go Wolverines!

Group of 9 - all went well

By Juancho D |

Great place to chill out and have a great pizza. Servers were very niche from the get go and even when some ingredients were not available, they were very friendly and tried to make the best for us. No reservations but it’s a great place to eat before hitting Lincoln Park and the zoo

Just average

By Stephanie B. |

The inside of the restaurant is really neat and always clean. The people are friendly and on top of their service. The Mac & Cheese is delicious, but besides that, I would say the food is average at best.

Dinner Before a Show

By jkauble |

My wife and I enjoyed Ranalli’s for dinner before a concert at nearby Park West. We had our “big kids” with us (two in college and one in H.S.), and they liked it a lot, too. The food, service, and atmosphere were all great. Recommendation: We know people have strong feelings about Hawaiian pizza, but we’d strongly recommend you put all of that aside and give it a try. The flavor combination of habanero, honey ham, smoked gouda, grilled pineapple, and Thai basil was amazing! We also enjoyed a couple of their other specialty pizzas in the Meat Lover and the Ranalli’s. For five adults, the three 12” pizzas were just right!

Best normal pizza if you...

Best normal pizza if you sick of the stuffed!

Really good Pizza and Chicken fingers

By BrianB32931 |

Food 5 stars!! We attended a party at Ranalli's. The table was cute with a beer tapper in the middle. The "Party Room" on the other hand was not cute. The "room" was in the middle of the restaurant with a walkway through with tons of traffic. like sitting on the street for dinner

Remembering Ranalli's

By jenworldtraveler |

This neighborhood pizza palace was updated to a bright white interior. We remember it from years past. A much younger clientele these days- very loud with a lot of bar action. Food is still good. Manager Mike "busts a move" and gets you a table! Rum and root beer served in a trendy copper cup with a cinnamon stick was well made.

Great pizza

Great pizza and great people. Service was great and the ambiance was very nice

Great outdoor area

By laurharris |

Love this place. Great outdoor seating for when the weather is nice and the pizza is delicious. Great atmosphere.

One of the best carry out Pizza Parlors in Chicago

By Raphael L |

Once again we ordered a pizza and salad for pick up. We prefer this to delivery because we think it arrives faster and warmer. The house salad was great, albeit smaller in size than we remember. The cheese pizza with extra cheese, well done and less tomato sauce was superb. Because we prefer thin crust, it is our favorite. Kudos to Management for getting their act together after the sale and transition, as it now consistently tastes like we remember( unlike a few months back).

Horrible service

By J M |

Their employees are incredibly rude, especially on a Badger game day. Don’t come here for a Badger game. Their employees harassed us and treated us horribly. We had come to the bar from a different bar where we had 2-3 drinks apiece. When we walked in, we started talking to a friend and within a few minutes an employee told us we couldn’t be served, with no reason given. This employee was incredibly rude, not to mention his poor judgment of who could or could not be served (given 90% of the bar was more drunk than we were). Basically, I would recommend going to a different bar. This place is not worth your effort.
