I'd been here for the Clams and Clam Chowder when in Brooklyn and like Sheepshead Bay that surrounds it, it was overrated. They serve a lot of fried seafood and their clam chowder was not as good as one would get in City Island in the Bronx. Overall, as a Borough, Brooklyn's seafood isn't the best in the city unfortunately but this place is one of the more popular places in Brooklyn for it. So city wide or when looking at seafood overall, this isnt the best place but if you are in Brooklyn, this will be better than average.

Randazzo’s has been in this location in Sheepshead Bay for many, many years. The seafood is fresh and delicious. I especially love the New England clam chowder and the steamed clams. Many of the entrees are served in red sauce, Italian style, but the fried fish is delicious also. The atmosphere is casual, nothing fancy. Parking is on the street.

Many years ago, my late husband and I went to Randazzo's and were not impressed. The next time I went was this past March with my brother and sister-in-law because my brother wanted to go. Their prices are high and they don't even serve coffee as a beverage choice. I went there last week, August 3, 2015 because friends from Bay Ridge and Queens wanted to go. They were not impressed as well. I wound up taking my fried filet of fish sandwich home. When I ate it the next night, I had to put both packets of tarter sauce on the sandwich because not only was the fish tasteless, it was very dry. At least the tarter sauce had flavor. A lot of people love the restaurant. My meal cost $50. For one person, that's a lot to spend for mediocre food. We then went to another place for dessert and coffee. That cost me another $10, but that's another review.

My wife and I decided to eat here before we went on our 4th of July fireworks cruise. We ordered some fried calamari as appetizers and they were good. For our meal I ordered the lobster roll and my wife had crab cakes ona bun. I also ordered a pepsi and they bring me a 10 oz bottle of pepsi....I'm 6'3". Lol My lobster roll had too much dressing and my wifes crab cakes tasted like Thanksgiving stuffing with minced up crab. The food was not was we expected. I would not go back!

Wow, with this cold I came to this place and only the fresh sea food smell when you go in made me really hungry. I tried the lobster bisq ( my favorite ) , spicy crab soup, red claim chowder and fried calamari , really fresh and tasty , just made. I loved this old fashioned clam bar.

I was recently at Randazzo's Clam Bar with family. The food was unbelievably delicious. We were a large group, and ordered various appetizers and hot dishes that were just phenomenal. I had the baked clams and a pasta dish with shrimp that was so good!!! Portions are huge and we all left with take out boxes. Prices are very reasonable. Highly Recommend this restaurant to others! We always try to come to this restaurant when we are in Brooklyn!

Honestly been waiting to eat her, because it stays PACKED and is historical. I ordered fried shrimp and fries...they had NO taste at all. Simply no taste they were suculent perfectly fried and huge but really honestly no taste. I will not give up I will try it again

To start I grew up in Sheepshead Bay. Had many a meal on emmons ave. Lundys, Pappas restaurant and of course Randazzos. The guest 2 are long gone. Pappas restaurant is now a fancy diner. randazzos should be on your list of places to eat in Sheepshead Bay and though still very good it's not what it used to be. The clams and calamari are very good. The king crab was excellent. my only issue is the gravy...errr sauce I mean. It just didn't taste the same. Still, Id still recommend to a first time visitor.

Went with family recently, service was great and all dishes were yummy. Started with fried calamari and Manhattan clam chowders for appetizers. Had a nice bottle of Chianti, followed by main dishes including broiled flounder w/baked potatoes, linguine w/white clam sauce and chicken parm w/spaghetti. Place does not serve desserts or coffee but with all the great food, we were all too full so no issue skipping the sweets.

They have been here for a long time. There's a reason for this. They do seafood right, I had the baked clams you can't go wrong still the best, Brooklyn servers are the best. The only thing that I miss about Brooklyn is the food.

The best of Brooklyn; superb Spicy-hot marinara-- burnt chicken to blue crab escape. Clam chowder is tasty and stocked

For the type of place that it is I thought it was close to excellent. With a weathered clam bar type of atmosphere on the outside. And a restaurant that has a luchnette feel on the inside. Not fancy by any means. The clams on the halfshell were cold, flavorful, and served quickly. The steamers were Ipswich clams ( aka piss clams) they had an awesome flavor that the drawn butter added a perfect match. . They too were served quickly . Hot and delicious. My friend had fried softshell crab sandwich. It might be the most perfectly fried soft shell crab I've ever tried. If you are looking for a fancy seafood restaurant on the waterfront this is not it. It is however a great place to get really good seafood while wearing tshirt and shorts. I think the prices are in line with what other restaurants serving similar food in similar areas charge. I felt it was not cheap but a good deal for what you get and the quality. This is by no means a " Waterfront" restaurant. It is on a four lane road across the street from the water. About 200 feet away. But for what it is a good low key seafood establishment it hits squarely on the mark.

I found myself in Brooklyn with some time to kill and it was lunch time. So, I headed over to the water to find a place to get clams and oysters. Most of the reviews I found recommended Randazzos. It was a great choice. It is a no frills location but with top notch food. I had clams and oysters on the half shell and cup of NE "chowda". All three were outstanding. Looking around at the other plates being served to others, It was clear that everything was well prepared and fresh. I can't wait to go back.

We come down to NYC from Vermont border 1x a year. All the way there we spoke so happy about being able to eat at your resturatnt. For 5 years we have been doing it. My friend is a cancer survivor, and for the first year could really pig out. We couldn't rember the address so as we sat on the beach serched for your restuarant for almost 2 hours before we found you. I wish i never found your resturant. The waitress ignored us, after being seated, for almost 35 minutes before she asked if we would like a drink. There was a huge amount of people in line and we all witnessed a man and woman paying a hostess seat them directly from the car, which she did as she pocketed the money he gave her. Finally after 51 minutes after being seated the watiress came to our table and asked what we wanted. We gave a her the complete order. We get the same thing every time. Steamed clams, and Alaskan King Crab legs. This time i also got a order of raw oysters a dozen. The clams came out raw after telling her 4x to steam them. I took them back the kitchen to explain they were wrong and the waitress called me a liar and basicly the whole kitchen verbally attacked me. Telling me i was wrong. The female manager then had the nerve to say well we can steam them and grabed them off the conter and never stated anything to the waitress, who mind you, ignored us for 53 minutes. If i didnt already get a beer while we waited i would have left. Being totally upset and embarraesed that i was verbally attacked in the kitchen while the managment stood and did nothin. I asked for the bill and said i was leaving and to cancel my order. I at this pont had loss all interest of desire to eat. The manager stormed out and totally embarrassed me and my freind. Who at this point was crying and embarrased. The manager then stamped inside and ran us out then came back and screamed at us both again in front of the rest of the customers at the restaurant. 2 table couldn't beleive what she did and they said they couldnt beilve she did that to us. We left with no dinner and very embarrased. Because of her actions we ate in a dinner because everything opened at that time was full, ready to close, or closed. I have waited tables, managed front of the house, in many restuarants. I have co-managed a liquor store and in all my 32 years of food service i have never seem any manager or waitress ignore or embarrassed or treat a paying customer as rudely and cruel as these 2 women did. If it was my restruant i would be embarrass to let customers know they were still there. I look forward to this meal all year and also every time have legs upstate ny tell people how wonderful your resturant is. No longer will that be the norm. I will and also have told everyone how horrible your service is and now how we were treated. Its to bad because we did love your food and service for a few years, and saying that of all the places we could pick in NYC we always picked yours. I wouldnt eat at your restuarant if you gave me a free meal. I would love to speak to the owner not the manager and say Train your Staff PLEASE....

This place was really not very good. The calamari was rubbery, the mozzarella sticks were ok and the service was lacking. The one thing that saved the day was the linguini with red clam sauce. It was a really tasty throwback meal. That having been said, I will not be returning.

We went there on a suggestion from a friend who use to live in Brooklyn. The place was PACKED but there was outdoor seating too. The portions were large. Seafood was delicious and fresh. Pasta was done to perfection. The Vodka sauce?? UNREAL!!!! It was the best I've ever had! If you're ever in this area and love great Italian/seafood? Go!! You won't be disappointed.

Randazzo's is the place to go if you want fresh delicious seafood. We had a dozen cherrystone clams on the half shell, fried calamari with hot sauce, and zappa de mussels. Everything was amazing. Will definitely return.

I grew up in Sheepshead Bay but haven't lived there for decades, but we made a pilgrimage to the neighborhood recently and stopped at Randazzo's for lunch. It was fairly busy for 2:00pm on a Friday afternoon. Our meal was by and large excellent, but I still have a few observations: - No lunch menu and dinner prices seemed to apply all day - Pricy for a place that isn't by any stretch fancy or upscale - Not the world's cleanest restaurant (but not the worst either) - Unbelievably cheap cole slaw with one of our meals; so cheap that it was contained in a minuscule plastic take-out container - Tartar sauce from Kraft? In a pitiful Kraft container? Would it kill you to produce some tartar sauce to match the food? That was pathetic. - I ordered iced tea and it came in a bottle from some company I never heard of. Again, would it kill you to mix up a little iced tea so you can offer refills without charging for a second cup? - When we asked for coffee at the end of the meal, this is what the waitress said: "We don't make coffee, honey." I really kind of liked the "honey" part, but they don't "make coffee"? Gimme a break. She might as well have said, "You want coffee, go to Starbucks." As I said the food was mostly very good, but the parts of the meal that accompanied the entree made it seem like this was a once-great restaurant in a very good location (still is) whose ownership doesn't care about the little things (that do matter).

The area is right off the water of sheepshead bay, but cant really see the water but can see the boats go by. The clams and calamari were very good and fresh, however I did not like the marinara sauce or the hard bread that was served with it. THis is really more bar style than a resturant. Oh yeah the price of the beer is good.

Had out of town company who was craving steamers, so ventured into Brooklyn. First, out of steamers. This might be a local favorite for seafood (I'm not the seafood lover), so I can't judge the fish here, however I can comment on the following: Cafeteria styled dining. Nothing fancy here. They have been in business a very long time. Do the laminated menus have to look like the first ones ever used? everything, mayo, dressings, etc., comes in tubes and little tear off containers. I ordered a baked potato, and was serve one that was blackened (rotten) on both ends. Service? Horrible. They don't ask you if you want a beverage, and forget about a cup of coffee. They don't serve any. They didn't stop back to ask if we wanted anything additional. Asked for a soda, it came with the check. Even my guest from out of town has said every time she visits, it is going downhill. Won't be back.

A group of us went to Randazzo's on a recent Sunday afternoon. They are always busy and we expected to wait but I guess we were early enough to avoid the crowd. I had the jumbo lump crab meat (I think it was an appetizer but it was dinner for me!) and it was delicious! Our server, Angie, made sure we had everything we needed and helped us with our selections. Everything was very good.

Aside from "THE SAUCE", the fried calamari, steamers, raw little neck clams, baked clams, pasta marechiare or clam sauce, are all terrific. Come dressed down. Very informal.

Great food Seafood as allways very good Grilled octo is awesome Oysters yummy Just all around good living And very good eating

Absolutely fresh and delicious in a comfortable Casual atmosphere with friendly service. Ordered the seamers which were outstanding and King crab legs. Great portion sizes.

Have not visited Randazzo’s since hurricane Sandy. Yes you can go back and yes it’s as good as you remembered. As clam bars go this is a world-class entity. The freshest seafood The best service Family operation for four generations. I can’t imagine it getting better than that. Thank you, it was as good as I remember.

We went here as soon as we got to NY. The thought of fried calamari wafted through our heads til we couldn’t take it anymore. I order this dish all over the US - THIS IS THE ONE! Great service, they enjoy their jobs and it shows! Tables accommodated the large and tall in our group. The only negative is the ladies room. It an itty bitty room with a low toilet, it could never accommodate a wheelchair but that’s such a NY thing. Maybe there is an alternated restroom I didn’t ask. I think it would be better to make one unisex that accommodates everyone, just a suggestion. Space is at a premium in NY but the need for a rest room isn’t optional.

I have not had a chance to eat real, fresh Long Island Cherrystone clams on the half shell in many, many years. When visiting my daughters in Brooklyn this August, I finally put that to rest! Randazzo's Clam Bar in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn is the real deal! It was like stepping back in time to the biggest, tastiest clams I've ever eaten. Firm and pink and delicious, with all the traditional fixings. They have a full seafood menu at Randazzo's that looks terrific, but if it's clams you're after, this is the place! I'm definitely going to have to visit my daughters more often!

Several years ago I stopped eating fried calamari anywhere but at Randazzo's. Light dusting of their flour blend quickly fried ... supple and tasty, with sauce on the side that is out of this world. Went there last Thurs, heading back to LA tomorrow. First on my list when back in NYC.

Heard a lot of good things about this place, but never been there. Decided to walk in in a hot summer day for beer and calamari. Nothing fancy inside, interior is very plain but food was delicious. Besides calamari ordered cherry stone raw clams and then naked clams with medium sauce. Got older waitress that was not too fast and not too friendly, but not going to deduct any points for that this time...

Old school clam bar. Amazingly fresh delicious mussels. Manhattan clam chowder finger licking good. Really great place!

I was a fry cook for years, the motto of any fry guy understandably should be "golden brown." On my 50th birthday I found myself craving a good fried seafood platter, and everyone said this was the place. So I went down, menu looked amazing, figured this was the place for it, especially considering it was 29 bucks, I was glad I came here because it must be something to see. What I received was little dried up tasteless dark brown blobs, and not very many blobs either. Good fried seafood should kind of steam inside a layer of crunchy golden goodness, as you bite into it, it releasing it's goodness like the scent of the spray coming off the waves as you stroll along the beach. Their problem isnt even that it was overcooked, the fish fry coating they use is awful, portions are lousy, and then they overcook it to boot. If you read this review and still order it, I told you so. Clams and what not looked good, calamari looked edible, I think they must use a different coating for the calamari, looked lighter. You have been warned, if you want good fried fish, long John silvers would be a better choice. Oh ya, the clam chowder, resembled clam chowder, except without the taste.

We had A GREAT time eating & laughing!!! A very relaxed environment, great staff & very tasty food! The scenery outside is beautiful also!

Place need to get renovated! One of the old places on Emmons! Food is always not bad! Service is not as good! Definitely need renovation!

Just came from the new location on Staten Island. First off, I went in alone and sat at the bar up front and was presented with a one page menu by the waitress. I asked for a simple shrimp and calamari combination platter. The waitress advised me that there was no such item on the menu and insisted the only combo item was the shrimp, calamari, mussels and scungilli for approximately $26. In a small box on the bottom of the menu, was a lunch special of calamari and shrimp for $16.95. After pointing this out to her, she took my order and 10 minutes later, I was given a plate that could barely be considered an appetizer for what I was charged. It was a rectangular plate with 4 shrimp and approximately 10 rings of calamari, both of which were separated on the plate, presumably so I'd conveniently be able to see how badly I was getting screwed over. They didn't even attempt to hide this fact, as not even the traditional biscuit on the bottom was included in the price of the dish. Having been to the SH location a few times over the years, I was kind of expecting this. However, I figured they would at least have waited a few months at this new location and lured new customers in before they picked peoples pockets. Seems like they wasted no time.

We came here for late lunch, after watching the hotdog eating contest at Coney Island. Don't worry, we watched the contestants from far away. This is a classic old-time Italian place where everybody knows the restaurant's name. Thank God no one knows everybody's name. Cheers to that! We had a waitress named Grace. She was all right. We decided to go to steamers, baked clams, and a seafood combo. Everything was perfect. The seafood was fried seafood covered with tomato sauce. Steamers were excellent, juicy, and sweet. After all that, we tried to take some seafood pasta with tomato sauce to go, but the waitress said they couldn't make it that way because they have a different sauce they put on top of the pasta. This is a sauce they pour on top, not cook with it. So we passed on that takeout. Try this once in your lifetime, and you're all set!

Food was really good, priced great and the staff was fantastic. Our waitress was very attentive and accessable.

This is a no frills restaurant where the food is truly the star. We always go for the clams on the half-shell because they are so incredibly fresh and sweet. All the dishes we've eaten there have been freshly prepared and the spaghetti with their tomato sauce is exceptional. We know we will keep going back there so that we can try more of that freshly prepared seafood.

The shirts on the wait staff say "serving Brooklyn since 1932". I remember when I was a boy, my dad taking me there and he would order raw clams at the sidewalk window and gulp them down. A lot has changed In Brooklyn over the years, but Randazzo's remains pretty much the same. Oh they have gone through a couple of remodelings for sure, and you must go inside to order your food. And truth be known I am not a lover off raw clams on the half shell, but clams are not the only seafood dish this legendary eatery serves. And from the freshly breaded fried clams and calamari, to their pastas, shrimp and lobster dishes everything here is delicious. Why, it's the sauce of course! The food is prepared perfectly and the sauce is well, fantastic! One too , this is not a place to order wine, you are better off with beer. For lack of storage space I would imagine, the red wine is kept in the cooler alongside the beer and soda so it will come out cold. Did I mention the service? Service is great!

Anytime we visit NYC, we always get together with my cousins. This last trip was no exception. Everyone met up at Randazzo's Clam Bar in the Sheepshead Bay section of Brooklyn to have a delicious dinner along with laughter and conversation. It's a busy place but not too loud and the food is to die for!!! If you are in the area, definitely head over to this establishment, you will not be disappointed. We started off with soup, LJ ordered the Lobster Bisque while I had the Spicy Crab Corn Chowder. For dinner, we split an order of Fried Calamari (with their famous hot sauce) and a dozen Oysters .

Sometimes I forget to take a few moments to review a restaurant my own backyard but not tonight. I have been eating here for 40 years and let me say Bravo. U have done what many could not by staying good and most important the same. Randazzos is now in its third generation and continues as my favorite for seafood in Sheepshead Bay. Now if u want something fancy then this may not be for u. The tables are close but thats so less people have to wait. The servers may take a bit long but they are trying to provide the best service which is shown due to the food always coming out hot. The one staple here is Amillio. If I walk in on a Sun or Mon night and hes not behind the counter it feels like there is something wrong. Now on to the food. Uh everything is good. What else is there to say. The raw bar is fresh and complete with everything. The soups are simply great. My Fav in the New England Clam Chowder but again all are great. The fried shrimp and Calamari in either med or hot sauce are delicious as well as timeless. The entrees are made by the sauce which is great and has always been great. My favorites are the Stuffed Shrimp and lately The combo of Pasta with a shrimp and lobster tomato sauce over. This is the best. In the 1970's when I was a kid we used to walk on Emmons ave and I remember Lundy's and Joes and the Grotto Doro and later on Pier 28 and Mario and Luigis and along with all of them was Randazzos. Not one restaurant. Not Two but three separate locations back in the day. Now all these years later who's the ONLY one left. I think that speaks for itself.

Old fashioned family classic! Worth the wait, has been there for generations. Little noisy on Friday nights but they are Italian and it is Brooklyn!!

Italian & Seafood place. Great, fresh seafood accompanied by great pasta/sauce. My concern is pricing. Dishes are in the $20 range but they serve you water in plastic, see through dixie cups. Not the sturdy plastic ones--the flimsy ones that if you squeeze a little it will be all over you. Had shrimp parmagiana and it was great. Crab cakes-just so so. Lobster--very good. Pricing is a little high and tab can get high real quickly.

We hadn't been to Randazzo's in over a decade. In our memory, the portions were as large as the quality was wonderful. The quality was still wonderful but the portions seemed to have shrunk. I know they have a sign saying "Cheap Seafood isn't Fresh and Fresh Seafood isn't Cheap" but it still seemed a lot more expensive than we remembered it. My husband had a fried assortment and I had the steamers. They were small, but delicious. We took home a container of chowder -- a half-pint for $11 I think -- and I decided to serve it over pasta, which made a terrific -- and generous -- meal for the two of us, so all in all, I guess it balanced out. But when you're in Sheepshead Bay, unless you're going to Lundy's, I guess you kind of have to go to Randazzo's. The staff is pure Brooklyn, so add the entertainment factor into the bill and it comes out sort of a bargain. We don't get to that neighborhood often these days, but when we're there next, I imagine we'll go back to Randazzo's. I can't agree that they are a well-kept secret. I can agree that you never, ever have to worry about what you order -- raw or cooked.

We went for the famous red sauce and were not disappointed - the portions were big and super delicious. We shared calamari and fried zucchini to start, both were excellent.

Randazzos clam bar Worst dining experience ever something of a horror story!!! - after a long day and being very hungry we finally found a place to eat this happens. The incidence occurred when an order of raw clams were delivered to the table by our server as she walked away I called her back because we had asked for steamed clams. We just said I’m sorry we wanted steamed clams not the raw before we could get anymore words out she cut us off saying “I wrote it down you ordered raw clams for a fact” she said very rudely as she walked away and put her hand up at us. so I grabbed the clams and walked to the counter where I was directed indoor to be immediately yelled by the server as the owners daughter rushed over telling her to stop and I told her what the issue was as the server ran her mouth in the background at me, the girl began to justify her employee by saying it was hot out and it was a long day so she said that they would the steam the clams. I then walked out and we decided that made us too uncomfortable we decided to leave. At this point we had three soups on the table all still with plenty soup still to be eaten and 4 sodas. I then went in again and said that we had decided to leave so the server said she would bring us the bill implying she was charging us for all the food again while she was yelling at me, I said we would pay for what we had on the table mind you we should have paid for nothing at that point with the horrible service. Now she comes out with a 50$ bill and said it was for the soup and drinks which did not add up so we left 20$ and decided to leave as we were walking away she began to chase us I kindly said we were confused why we received a 50$ when that didn’t equal the prices not to mention they weren’t even eaten or drank. Where she then threatened to slap the sh** out of us when earlier she told me she was pregnant and how dare I yell at a pregnant lady like I was supposed to know plus she was yelling at me. I was just confused, appalled, and uncomfortable. No matter what even if we acted like the worst table ever that is never how employees act period and then for the daughter of the owner the only one in charge to justify her action because it was hot !!!! Mover not one real apology. For her to say but she didn’t hit you did she I just can’t believe any of this it was unreal. We left only leaving the 20$ as was decided was more than appropriate Ps the cook in the white coat was the absolute sweetest the only good thing about the whole experience!!!!

Randazzo’s has been a beloved staple in my family for generations — we’ve been feasting here since before I was even born. And when I say “feasting,” I mean it. This isn’t just a meal, it’s a full-on seafood celebration. For my brother’s birthday, we came ready to indulge, and as always, Randazzo’s delivered. Fresh-as-ever raw clams and oysters set the tone, followed by classics like baked clams, fried calamari (galamah), clams in white sauce and buttery shrimp scampi — each bite reminding us why this place is an icon. The atmosphere? A perfectly tamed chaos. The moment one table clears, two more fill. The staff? Warm, welcoming, and on top of everything. And the cherry on top — after your meal, you can stroll right over to the pier across the street to soak in the salty breeze. This Brooklyn gem hasn’t lost an ounce of its charm. Run, don’t walk, to Randazzo’s. For more foodie gems like this, follow @blaze_eatsnyc!

Randazzos in Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn yesterday, food was just ok -- the seafood part of fried calamari was fresh and delicious but the breading that it was fried in didn't exactly taste like it used to, the shrimp with it were small and just ok. The baked clams were good. Forgot to take pic of the best dish which was baked filet done similar to oreganata with huge fresh french fries. The "Lobster Randazzo" w 3 clams, shrimp, over linguin in white wine, butter, lemon, garlic, sauce was just ok very watery and lacking flavor, they shouldn't call it as if it's a whole lobster because it only equaled about half a very small lobster, the 3 clams were best part. Disco music was great. Free pitcher NYC tap water was excellent and the bread and the Pepsi in tiny glass bottle. Prices skyrocketed, tiny portions. Server aka bus boy was excellent Since pandemic and cooking at home so much, I must say, home-made is the best food ever. andwish I could have exclusively given him our very generous cash tip cause waitress was awful.

Come to Coney Island for the Boardwalk and Randazzo's. Although it has the "dive bar" look to it, the food is spectacular. The fried calamari [cala-mah in local parlance] is perfect and will set the standard for all the calamari you eat thereafter.Get both the hot and the mild sauce. The hot has a nice smoky note to that complements the calamari. The stale bread to soak up the sauce is part of the experience. As for the baked clams, the are delicious. The breading and seasonings do not overtake the clam, so you can actually taste everything. Locals and those who grew up near Coney Island come to this restaurant, and still say it is every bit as good as the "old days." That was good enough for me to try it, and exceeded my expectations.

This restaurant was a great going to place for me for the zuppa de clams. We have not been back in a long time and I thought it was time for me to get that marvelous dish. We went and while the soup part of the dish was as marvelous as ever, the clams were more than mere rubber in texture and taste. Order the dish and discard the clams.

My go to place for clams on the half shell. Pretty much everything they serve is top notch. Parking, during peak hours can be a challenge, but it's worth it if you have to walk a few blocks,

I've been going here for the last 20 years and have never been disappointed. Food is always fresh. Still think they have the best oysters, broiled lobster, and steamers. Their red clam sauce is also very good.

Love the shrimp with medium sauce, and the broiled lobster is wonderful. A taste of home, never disappoints.

Stopped in for lunch. Seven smallish fried shrimp with sauce, some kind of roll and an 8 oz coke...16 bucks. I should have known better. When I came in the place was almost empty. I stood by the door for a minute. No one offered me a table so I just sat down. After five minutes..no waiter. i went to the counter. The counterman took my order without a word. Just scribbled on pad and turned away. Ok...I get it...part of the "charm"...but the food will be great. Wrong! Aside from overpriced skimpy portion the food was only passable. Sauce was good but not worth it. I paid a hulking jersey shore type guy with muscles and tattoos. Again..not a word spoken. Twenty something years ago this place was a must-go. Some things don't get better with age.

On a recent mild winter day we 3 adults (one local and two visiting) dropped in for a late lunch of outstanding big fresh oysters and very tender lightly fried calamari. The medium and hot sauces for the calamari were delicious marinara-type. Personally I would call the "medium" sauce mild and the "hot" sauce a medium in spiciness rating. The service was attentive enough and not rushed (there was also no one waiting up front). The families with small children blended easily with couples and groups of all ages. Three of us requested water and we were given a covered plastic pitcher and plastic cups. Perfect. (This is not a white tablecloth dining spot.) Unlike another reviewer, we really enjoyed walking along the waterfront. You can walk all up and out to the oceanfront boardwalk from here.

Their calamari is worth the trip. With two types of sauce (hot and not hot) it was the favorite. The fried soft shell crab was cooked well. The mixed fish was OK. French fries were good, fried zucchini was also good. Serve staff very friendly and helpful.

Been Going since I was 5 yrs old, AMAZING - I now bring my husband, daughter and son there. Lived in Maui for a while. Had my parents fly me some Calamari- Hot on top !- After hurricane Sandy prices went up so I go there less frequently BUT still love it

We love this place, You can't find a better red sauce then Randazzo's. The area has changed alot in the past few years. Seems very european now and new stores and resturants make the area very attractive for dinenr and a stroll by the water.

I ordered a Linguini with Clam Sauce and it tasted it was out of a can. I could of did that at home.

Randazzo's Clam Bar is across the street from Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn, NY. The atmosphere is old Italian, neighborhood friendly. Their fried calamari is absolutely the best ever (mild, med, or hot sauce). Their seafood is very fresh and the pasta is very good and homey, like mama used to make. Don't look for high end touches. Just a great seafood house. Prices are between $15 to $25 an entree. Oh yes, try their fabulous Clam chowder ($5.00). Enjoy. Dr. Schatz

I use to crave this place the calamari and hot or med. to die for. Now the place is so over priced. Smaller potions. Just not the same. I used to visit this place once a week. Great location right across from the water. I wished they get there act together because I miss it

Have visited this location several times over the years and I must say I have never left without a full belly, and a truly satisfying feeling. The fried Calamari is arguably the best I've ever eaten. Seafood is always fresh, and the sauce, oh the sauce.....words do not do it justice! When your finished with your meal, feeling good about yourself for taking friends or family to someplace your proud of, take a nice walk along Emmons ave by the water and enjoy a nice cigar. Mangia.

I’ve eaten in Randazzo’s many times, going all the way back to the 1970s. I don’t get to it too often, but last time I was impressed with the food. The atmosphere hasn’t changed much since the 1970s, it’s not like a high end fancy seafood place, it’s a seafood JOINT frequented by local fisherman, and the every day working man, so don’t expect much in the way of ambience. Service is just ok, our waitress probably was a relative. It’s family owned and operated. It’s pure Brooklyn. We had the Calamari, which they’re famous for. It always has a great sauce. I used to be into it much more and have lost my taste for it. I love lobster bisque, and theirs was great! New England clam chowder was also excellent. I got the fried scallops sandwich, and it was DELICIOUS! The scallops were big, tender, sweet and fried just right! Their fried zucchini is also amazing. We also got the stuffed filet of sole, excellent also! Nice portions, and excellent food! When in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn and in the mood for seafood, check out Randazzo’s, right across from the Bay, then walk off your food along the water!

Amazing seafood, such a gem on Emmons Ave. Would recommend getting the salmon. Service and food is just amazing.

First time in this place visiting family in Brooklyn, NY From the moment we stepped in, till the moment we left, the service was fantastic. ALL, and I cannot stress this enough. The calamari and mussels were tops. If your looking for fresh seafood in Sheepshead Bay, consider Randazzo's Clam Bar.The waitress was very friendly, and the place was clean. It's not fancy, and the prices are not cheap as you would expect considering it's a seafood place.

Words can't describe how good of a place this is. Forget Manhattan and the fancy restaurants! If you want great Italian seafood this is the place. The calamari, stiffed shrimp, fried shrimp dipped in medium sauce, Fughet about it !

Easily the worst place I've been to in years. Uninviting decor, mediocre at best food, unjustified prices, and worst of all, extremely rude and racist staff. This is not the type of place that deserves to still be in business. Please support other local restaurants that will actually give you a worthwhile experience for your money.

WHOLE STAFF UNPROFESSIONAL & RUDE. Today my family and I showed up at the restaurant to only be deterred from ever going back there. We were met with a waitress that disregarded the table multiple times so my husband went inside to order us food. When we were finally acknowledged we were told we could no longer use the table due to the store being "busy". After explaining that my husband already placed an order we were only met with an attitude from the waitress that should've been helping us. Mind you, I also have an 84-year-old woman with us and also have a one-year-old child who both needed to eat. While my husband went inside to also clarify the situation and to get his food, to be also met with unprofessional staff members such as a woman manager. They told us to take our food and go when my family and I talked sternly but calmly and rationally to everyone involved. We were told that the waitress section outside works off of tips and get very angry if anyone orders inside and will refuse service to you which is EXTREMELY unprofessional. We would have gladly placed an order with the waitress had she acknowledged us in the area and would have had no issues tipping. Maybe, put a sign up so people know this and this type of situation won't happen. After making the trip to the restaurant and all the aggravation, my husband ended up dropping off the food since the staff couldn't even close the containers properly. Will not be going back there and will be telling others to not go back. PS The food is WAYY overpriced.

This is a perfect place for families. It is totally hectic but actually very well organized. The food was excellent. The experienced waitress was even better. She dealt with our confused group of 11 with humor and efficiency. Love the place. Too few bathrooms is only negative

I visited it Randazzos on a business lunch. The food was outstanding! The fried calamari was delicious! Fresh and tastes great. We ordered Oysters also and they were really delicious too! I would definitely go back when I am in Brooklyn!

Wow the place is immaculate. The fresh clams on a half shell were ice cold and master shucker cut them open in seconds!!! The fried calamari was soft tender and fried perfectly and the sauce was indescribably delicious

Once upon a time, this was my husband's favorite. Since he would do raw seafood, it would be costly & thus our special occasion place. Some relatives have never been, so this was our special occasion. Décor is glorified cafeteria. Food was good. Had fried fresh seafood. My husband had scungilli & pasta with Randazzo's great sauce. Soups were rather bland. Someone had a chicken dish. Bad choice. Never have chicken at a seafood restaurant... very dry. Beautiful day. Nice weather. Walked along the water. October, weekday... so parking wasn't a problem. Big problem during summer season & weekends. Enjoyable but not memorable. Wouldn't bother to come again.

Went to Randazzos on a rainy Friday night for a great seafood and pasta dinner once again food was excellent as always ,Large portions come with an appetite . Have to say our server Renee was outstanding !

Like many I followed the Anthony Bourdain recommendation to come her. Was my first time to Sheepshead Bay and the whole area is really fun (fishing boats, russian markets etc). Randazzo's is smaller than I imagined (about a dozen tables) which was nice. Most dishes are low $20s and when you see the GIANT portions you will feel like you got more than your fare share. We had the Shrimp Parm and the Shrimp Daiblo. Two great sauces: one a light marninara with good tomatoe flavour, the other dark and rich. One both dishes the shrimp were huge, fresh and very tasty. The little necks were a little too little - will try cherry stones my next time. Nice, casual fun night out - a must try!

I just returned from having dinner at Randazzos for my birthday. My husband told me to pick any place I wanted to go. I read so much about Randazzo's Clam Bar that I decided to give it a try. We were seated right away. The only reason why I didn't give Randazzos an Excellent rating is because I think they were a little overpriced for the amount of seafood they give you. We ordered fried calamari. The calamari was excellent. Probably the best I've had. I think we were a little short changed because, unless the table next to us ordered a larger size, our plate of calamari almost looked like a sample plate. My husband and I ordered Shrimp Scampi with Linguine pasta. My son ordered Shrimp Randazzo. Dish was twenty-plus dollars each and we got only 7 shrimps and plenty of pasta. The dish was delicious but we paid for a plate full of pasta. Unless you just gotta have soda, you get an 8 oz soda for $3.50 Like I said, the food is delicious, but you don't get much seafood for the price that you pay.

This place is not long on atmosphere, but that is ok because I go here for the clams oreganata. The cherrystone clams were better than the little neck but all were good. We also enjoyed the shrimp parmigiana.

beautiful view of sheepsbay marina. If you are looking for seafood in brooklyn, randazzos is the place, surf and turf is out of this world, alone with every other item on the menu

Know of Randazzo's since I was a kid. Old fashion fish joint with great family members keeping the tradition going. The steamed calamari with medium sauce is so tasty had a side of linguini with it. Clams, crab lobsters they have it all'

After seeing Anthony Bourdain's piece on Brooklyn, I thought I'd give this place a shot, as the portions appeared gluttonously good and my birthday was coming up. About me, I'm spoiled to amazing Italian cuisine because both my parents are from Napoli. I myself grew up in Brooklyn and have tried & compared every single place in the boroughs and have gathered in my 40+ year investigation that Carroll Gardens & Williamsburg still have the most authentic (best) Italian cuisine, whereas, Little Italy and a place in Howard Beach (Queens) called "Lenny's Clam Bar" supply the very best American Italian cuisine. SO, when I arrived to this place, the lights and ambiance were enough to make me just say, "No. Nope. Not doin' it". But I did it ... even though I was immediately embarrassed by the place in the presence of the displeased company I was with. We all looked at each other like, well, this is it ... we're here. The food HAS TO make up for what the place smelled, looked, and sounded like. The smell was of deep fried food found anywhere. The tables & chairs look like they've been left over from a last minute family gathering. The sound that was BLARING out from the speakers was static ridden hip hop music from a radio station instead of decent dining music from a cd ... AND not only was it loud, but orders from the kitchen were delivered to the classless staff (with the exception of a couple of nice waitresses) via a loud speaker that sounded like the announcements in the subway! The crowd that came to this place (and there was indeed a crowd!) just didn't know any better. They were mostly Asian and everything BUT Italian, which says something about the food. It just ain't Italian food! Lastly, the prices are outrages for what you get. I thought the plates would come out HUGE (thankfully not though, because I didn't even finish the minuscule portion that was on my plate. I hadn't eaten all day - but it was THAT insultingly bad). So please spare yourself ... unless my accurate description here is something you think you'd enjoy. Also, if you happen to like this place for whatever psychotic reason, try some spots out in Williamsburg Brooklyn or Howard Beach, Queens - THEN compare when you've regained sanity. As for Anthony Bourdain, what a shmuck. This place proves that he's akin to a mechanic that couldn't even change a tire.

Love this place as must go to when in Brooklyn love there Mussles Marinara and Fried calamari.we always look forward to our visit .

So upsetting, we came in sat down, asked for bread and drinks , we waited a long time, then we ordered our meals, everyone around us was being served, even if they arrived after us! Then we noticed our friend was not looking well, and fading, I realized his blood sugar must be low, as he has Diabetes type 1, I ran over to the waitress explained the situation and asked for OJ, she said go sit down, I will bring it, she never did,, I went back over begged for Oj, she said she was so busy and I needed to be patient! I said please help do u understand this disease, she said sorry, finally I got the oj, my friend drank it but wasn't okay yet! I told the owner/ manager, she said " maybe he should have stayed home", I was on tears, I will post her photo! Finally the waitress brought over some cold, dried up mussels, she said its on her! 1 hour later after we ordered our food came! The bill included the price of the mussels, they said too bad, we are charging! I am so upset, besides myself, have never seen treatment like this ever before! Sorry if my typing is poor , we are back in the car driving! I am going to report this to a news agency!

Great local Brooklyn/Sheepsheadbay diner, nice and simple. Excellent oysters and other seafood, recommended by locals.

Went with my dad for some early fathers day eats and was pleasantly surprised by the light crowd at 5 pm on a friday.i ordered the lobster bisque and umm it came with potatoes and celery in it?not good as i dont eat celery and passed it off to my dad who gobbled it down.my entree was chopped shrimp clams and calarami in pink sauce with spaghetti which i will be dreaming about for days to come.it more than made up for the bisque fiasco.my dad had the broiled tilapia and said it was a nice piece of fish and delicious.decently priced all that food with a soda and 4 beers came to $70.

Delicious, delicious red sauce! Highly recommend the calamari and biscuit, baked clams and the chicken parm. Very friendly service, casual attire and great for families.

I was just at Randazzo's this past Saturday night for a ladies night out with family. We had a reservation, but the dining room was packed, so we would have had to wait. One of the servers suggested us eating outside, side it was a nice night, so we did. Our waitress was great...not the most attentive, but she was friendly and hustling. Everyone got seafood but me, I got the Chicken Parmigiana. We all enjoyed the food. My only issues were: several of us ordered soup...they brought it out in little Dixie cups. Our entrees came out in those aluminum take home containers, and we had paper plates and plastic ware on the table. The food is expensive...my entree was $17, and that was for chicken and a side of spaghetti...no sides, no salad, not even bread. So altogether we had a great time (but we'd have a great time anywhere), I don't think I'd be in a rush to go back.

as always ..you can't go wrong with this place ..lobster bisque...clam chowder and fried calamar..on a rainy day..priceless..service always a warm welcome. best place in BROOKLYN by far..enjoy

Being originally from Brooklyn I always make a stop to Randazzo's in Sheepshead Bay when visiting family. They have never disappoint me serving up the absolute best Fried Calamari with medium sauce I have ever eaten anywhere. If you are ever in Brooklyn be sure to stop there. Highly recommend!

We were a party of 3 on early Sunday evening. As we were waiting, we watched the guy shuck clams and oysters by the front counter. That's what we ordered. 12 raw clams to start off. Lemon and sauce on them, and they were slurped up so fast. Fresh, fat, juicy clams! We continued with the New England Clam Chowder. Packed with clams. This is the real deal. Super creamy and flavorful. Usually I offer to share or at least have people taste my dish but not this time! This clam chowder was just for me. The fried calamari was super fresh. I don't think I've EVER had it this fresh. The calamari had a snap to the bite and not overbreaded. Just lightly fried. No oily taste or chewiness here. My husband had the fra diablo (?) He always gets this dish at seafood restaurants. It's his go-to dish and so when he said it was REALLY good, I'll believe him. He finished it and even sopped up the sauce with the bread. Fried clams were OK. I've had better at White Castles. (haha!) The steamed mussels in the white sauce was to die for! Big meaty mussels and we even drank all the white wine sauce. it was THAT good! Clam soup with garlic and wine... what's to complain? The decor is local and friendly. Service was fine. There were plenty of servers running around, getting everything. We will definitely be back here with the rest of the family and other times with friends. Definitely a gem in this neighborhood! 2 thumbs up and Yum-O!

It's been 10+ years since I last visited. We were there during the week for a late lunch. We enjoyed the fresh raw clams on the half shell, soft shell crabs, steamers (aka piss clams) and their seafood combo with scungilli, calamari, shrimp & mussels.....with great sauce. Go for the food. Ambiance is sterile and waitstaff inefficient. If I didn't have the memories, it would have been a disappointment.

No hot beverages - at all, soft drinks selection limited, small ugly plastic cups, food was just OK. And ambiance- they made you feel that they do you a favor for having you visit their restaurant

Paper plates, plastic cups and the same tables and chairs I sat on 40 years ago. AND...still the best and freshest seafood anywhere. One of the places I miss the most living out of state and every return trip, it's the first place I go. The hot sauce is a bit too hot for me, but the medium is perfect.

I read a review for this in the NY Times which said that a visit to Randazzo's was a must because of the 'Calamar' and the red sauce. The review was correct. The red sauce alone was worth the visit. I ordered the mixed seafood plate. The calamari was excellent as were the other delicacies on the plate. The service was friendly although perhaps not particularly efficient. It's in a nice space across the road was Sheephead Bay.

I was looking forward to seeing Randazzo's since I had heard about it all my life. It didn't disappoint. The meal was indeed enjoyable. It wasn't outstanding but it was very good. The NE clam chowder was very good, calamari was good, crab cake was very good. We were a party of 11 and on numerous occasions several of us were given the wrong food or expected to pass the food down. Look for the free oyster crackers packages at the door as you're leaving.

Me and my girlfriend love coming to this place as the seafood is to die for. No nonsense servers, generous portions and unique quality make this quite the neighborhood gem. If you are in the area and in the mood, go in, get the combo platter to start and the shrimp Randazzo.

I have been eating at Randazzo's since I was a teenager. They make the greatest calamari with red sauce on the planet. The texture is perfect and crunchy. But the truth is... it's all about the sauceand the secret ingredients. I happen to know what's in it (my mom dated a waiter who worked there) and can reproduce it pretty closely at home but I can't cook it for days like Randazzo's, and that is what makes the sauce like mother's milk to this Brooklyn girl. I like the spicy sauce but they are all fantastic. I also enjoy ordering Rings Only because the tentacles aren't my thing, and I say hold the biscuit, I don't need no stinkin' bread, gimmee more "gahlahmah!" I used to beg them to serve a side of linguini, so I could be satisfied, and now they do! For dieters, you can now order yours stewed without the breading! AND they expanded the menu to include chowders, salads and more. This IS an expensive place to eat but worth it. Whenever someone is treating, I suggest Randazzo's. Long may they reign!

I often visit they have the best mussels marinara in town they never disappoint. I also like there baked clams . I order the mussels as an appetizer and find it to be filling by the time you dunk your bread in there delicious sauce you are full .

It was very good, It wasn't crowded when I went there. I had the mussles with spaghetti. It was really good

Whatever it is they put in the red sauce that goes on the calamari, it’s not marinara. It’s a cross between chile oil and love... The fresh crab was FRESH. If you want old school seafood, this is the joint...

If you like Italian seafood, you are in the right place. It's not a fancy atmosphere but at Randazzo's, its all about the "Sauce". To be specific, the medium sauce. A few must haves: Calamari w medium sauce ( da best ), stuffed broiled shrimp ( Brooklyn style ) stuffed w bread crumbs, Italian parsley, baby shrimp, crab meat and garlic, The lobster Randazzo is a plate made for someone who is running a large country, linguini, whole lobster, the sauce, shrimps, clams, mussels and scallops. Make sure you bring acamera ifyou get this dish and make sure your ready to get down and dirty. One of the best places to eat on the planet!

We went here a couple of times and it was consistently good. The clams were large fresh and delicious. We also got the chowder, lobster bisque, and shrimp cocktail. The service was fast, they were crowded but it didn’t effect service. If you want fresh clams that taste great this is the place to go.

We were a party of 4. The restaurant is no frills but delicious food. We had the Steamers, clams on the half shell, Fried Zucchini, Shrimp Scampi and 2 Zuppa Di Pesce. They also have the small bottles of wine which we had a few of. During our meal Paulie Randazzo stopped at our table and asked how everything was. He really made us feel very welcome and I asked him where is a good place to get some Cannoli's after dinner since he doesn't serve coffee or dessert. Something his Grandma told him to do. He said when we are finished with our meal he would walk us to a place, you got to be kidding, right? Well he was not kidding, after dinner we were walking out and Paulie asked me if we enjoyed ourselves and of course our answer was YES.. He was getting ready to seat the waiting crowd so I just asked again where can we get Cannoli's since I did not want to bother him taking us, but he had someone else take care of the waiting crowd and said to me " come on let's go get some "Cannoli's"... I could not believe it.. He actually walked with us talking about his family and the neighborhood a block away to Cheery Hill Gourmet Market... We had Cannoli's and a Chocolate Mouse Cake with Espresso and Cappuccino. I can't thank Paulie enough for the great meal and his friendly hospitality.. Don't wait, just go there and ask Paulie where can you get good Cannoli's and he'll take you just like he took us... Check out my Pics... Eduardo..

I just had my first experience at Randazzo's at Sheepshead Bay and what a treat it was. From the moment we walked in until we left an hour or so later we were both entertained and well fed. We began with the fried calamari and shrimp with red sauce and ended with spicy clam corn chowder, Manhattan clam chowder with pasta ant hot red sauce. There was nothing fancy or pretentious about the establishment or but, but then after 75 years in business it doesn't need to be. It was a great way to end the perfect weekend in the NJ/NY area with family!

We love this place! Visit whenever we are in NYC. Freshest seafood, saucy friendly waitresses. Classic Brooklyn culture. See it. Live it.

Not a fancy place but a landmark that has been serving up great food since 1932. Our party of 5 enjoyed all our food. The shrimp fra diavolo was outstanding! Will be back when in Brooklyn. Downside is the parking situation but found a garage a block away and for $5 it was worth it.

If you like informal good seafood at reasonable prices this Sheepshead bay place on the bay is for you. Loud, crowded and buzzing with energy it is a throwback to older times there. I went last evening with my wife and had some excellent raw stuff, little necks and oysters before the main courses. mIxed Seafood of scungili, calamari, shrimp and Mussels in hot red sauce and aside of Linguini in Hot sauce and my wife opted for calamari with linguini. We also had overcooked fried veggies. The seafood was well done especially the calamari and fabulous scungili which is hard to find. They even had Peroni beer which I love. The wait staff has a pleasantly Brooklyn attitude and it fits the place. Mobbed on the weekends but not bad in the evening and daytime durting the week. Prices are decent for the quality. Ps THe hot sauce could be hotter.

This should qualify as a neighborhood landmark (it does) and as a hidden treasure for everyone else (it doesn't). Overall, the vibe is that it's a potentially awesome waterfront seafood joint ... but the owners have gotten complacent. Where's the zest and passion? Location: awesome (but no views from inside. So if you're there in warm weather, order to go and eat on the boardwalk alongside Sheepshead Bay) Staff: very efficient, fast and pleasant - but you won't catch a feel of people loving their jobs. Randazzo's just isn't as happy or exuberant as it should be, and I'm gonna take a guess that it's the owners' failure underlying this. Food: ok, but they've become more than a little stingy. Baked clams had might little clam, and the New England clam chowder had the same deficiency. Overall, this isn't a bad spot ... but is it worth the interminable trip by the Q train to get here? Hard to justify it. But it SHOULD be, and with this location it COULD be. Will hope either a new generation of owners will restore the energy, or a buyer someday comes in to take over ... keep all the good stuff, but change around management and customer service a bit

Myself and 4 workmates ate at the Clam Bar. We all found out food excellent. I had the lobster roll. It was very good, size was above average, not a ton of filler mostly lobster. I also had the fried calamari, also excellent, crispy and not oily. Would not hesitate to suggest. Plus they have parking in the rear of the restaurant.

Not impressed with place or food. Seafood may have been fresh but it was hard to tell as the filet oreganato we ordered was a lot of flour with some dried oregano. Shrimp dish was 4 shrimp and potato’s. Calamari was ok. It’s very expensive for what we got and the atmosphere is 60’s style old with plastic cups. Disappointing. Could have had an amazing meal elsewhere for the $100 I paid for 2

Went there last night. Calamari hadn't been cleaned well enough. There was still that skin on it. The waitress copped an attitude when I expressed my impatience at waiting too long fore the check. No I didn't smack the living s**t out of her, but I should have.

If you crave the freshest seafood- go HERE! Lobsters, clams, oysters, fin fish - all done to perfection and the wait staff are great!! It is a non-frills type of establishment , just great seafood and homemade pasta too!! Loved it and I will go back. Ask for Paulie.

going here all my life. Ate dinner last week and wanted too many items so we returned tonight to finish. The calamari is delicious as always must have that, then the chowder my husband likes the lobster bisque but I’m a New England chowder lover, then the raw clams were delicious but o no I was full…..so we came back tonight for shrimp randazzo…so delicious but next time I want the lobster too!

Been here a couple of times now. The chowder is very good, the seafood fresh, and the food overall is above average. The service is good old fashion diner style. Not a white table cloth experience. A great place for casual dining and dicing into some great raw bar.

I just got back from having the best soft shell crabs as well as one of my favorites, fried zucchini. My husband had raw clams and shrimp with hot sauce. It's no wonder people come from all over to this well known restaurant and clam bar. I have been coming here since I was a teenager, and that was a long time ago. It gets better with age. I wish I could say the same....

The thing about Randazzos is that it is always good. Their menu is heavy on the fried but still offers other options. They do not have a wide range of veggies though so this would not be the place to go if you rely on salads and veggies to be primary in your meal. Nevertheless, the place is always busy because it never disappoints. For more information on Brooklyn and what to do in Sheepshead Bay here is a link..... http://travelistasink.com/2014/10/03/5-things-to-do-in-sheepshead-bay-brooklyn/

I grew up in Brooklyn and have been going to Randazzo's for years. I usually don't have a full meal so can't testify to their whole menu. But I do know if you get the shrimp or calamari with hot sauce you will be very happy. Same with the cherrystone raw clams or the New England chowder. Every couple of months I have to make a trip there, especially in the summer. Sit at the counter and have a classic Brooklyn experience.

Randazzo’s Clam Bar is one of the most signature and historical restaurants around Sheepshead Bay. The decor is outmoded but adorable and authentic. Their staff was friendly, attentive and served everything quickly. The options on the menu are various from sandwiches, pasta to steamed seafood with moderate prices. We had their Seafood Combo and Broiled Filet Over Salad. The food was overall fresh and decent but not memorable. Our favorite was the fried calamari, which was delicious, well cooked and juicy inside with their special sauce.

Randazzo's was one of the casual eating places that my husband and I went to when we first started dating. He is not a shirt & tie type of person especially for dinner, but he does like a great meal with decent portions. This is why I was so glad to hear Randazzo's rebuilt after Hurricane Sandy and that the food still tasted top notch. We started off with 1 dozen oysters, I guess they are still matured enough yet, but they still tasted very fresh. Missing that sweet sea water taste, but nobody got sick, so big plus. Their house favorite is the fried calamari with mild or spicy red sauce, golden fried to perfection, not droopy or gummy like some places serve all of their fried items. He ordered the special of the night, linguini with lobster & shrimp marinara sauce, I had the grilled salmon with baked potato. Salmon was a bit tough, but the linguini was perfect. Would I come back, yes, because it feels like a giant neighborhood gathering where everyone is friendly and eager to talk about the food.

Still love their clam chowder. And raw clams. But pass on some of the fried. Fish. It is not the same as it was about three years ago and I am not going to have any fried items there, they taste funky. This is a shame since tgeybbuiltvtheircrrputation on the fried stuff. But after several trips there. It was not done no it fir me. Incredibly popular but I am just eating non fried food

Famous Sheepshead bay Establishment that is Wonderful! The Seafood Bar is Super! u name it they have it! Also Soups with Seafood are Scrumptious! Great Food & great area to Browse, see the fishing fleets & chill! Worth it to go from Manhattan, 1 hour ride to Heaven, Indeed!!

The crab cake and oyster sandwiches were very good as well as the service. The fried zucchini was exceptional. Very casual. Would definitely go back.

We caught a cab after the mermaid parade to Randazzo's on a co- worker's recommendation. We were not disappointed. The seafood was sooooo fresh. The place was slamming. It was busy and still our waitress took her time while we decided and re decided our order

Went recently to Randazzo’s, banking on a decent meal from an historic Sheepshead Bay standby. Got the baked clams which were soggy and tasteless. There were 2 types on the menu, going for $10 and $16 dollars, and without asking us, the waitress billed us for the more expensive variety. That being said, the rest of the meal did not improve from there. The fried seafood combo platter was a pricey disaster. The calamari and the shrimp in the combo platter were the least objectionable—that was fried to a pale golden brown. The mussels were tiny, overcooked and suffered from dehydration. We called the waitress over to enlighten us on the identity of a rubbery, cold, diced pile of grayness on the plate. She informed us that this was conch (not listed on the combo platter ingredients) which was, as she said, supposed to be cooked that way. She suggested we should mask the rubber taste by dipping it in the hot sauce. Not satisfied with this suggestion, we asked that we get a substitute portion of the dish that might be more edible, like clams, for instance. She told us she wasn’t sure this substitution could be made, but she would check with the cook. Minutes later, she came back with a small handful of dark brown globs of overcooked fried clams that tasted like cardboard. The only good thing about the restaurant was the small dish of hot sauce. This place is a major ripoff and we’re not coming back. Sad.

I was told that this was one of the best Italian restaurants in New York. Don't think so. It felt like a cafeteria, tables so very close together you could have eaten off others plates. Pasta was average, nothing to brag about. To me, sauce makes the pasta and theirs really didn't satisfy my tastebuds. Not that it was bad, just not great. The servers are not very personable, which I don't appreciate. Prices were too high for the quality and portions.

After a long, day in Brooklyn we usually headed over to Sheepshead Bay f to Randazzo's, and it's always worth the visit. Turn a blind eye to the decor. This place is shellfish lover's paradise that everyone should experience - we started with the shrimp cocktail and a half dozen raw oysters. We added on some baked clams (10 littlenecks) and finished up with the zuppa di mussels in red sauce, which was to die for! We would have ordered something else, but the sauce the mussels were in was so good, you won't be given any much need better for this but just ask for some. We always wound up asking for a second basket because we wanted as much of that sauce as possible, and after all that we were stuffed! This place has been around for a very long time and the decor as i said appears to be a bit run down. we come here when we end up in brooklyn and it's usually packed. never more than about 10 minutes before being seated. Staff ok- not very friendly but on point. Best Fish Stew in Brooklyn! We have been going to Randazzo's for 12 years. We always order the fish stew (red sauce - not the white) and the fried crab sandwich when in season. It is so delicious. I haven't tried the other items on Randazzo's menu because I always order the fish stew. but enjoy seeing everyone else ordering the great mussels. The waitress brings a large white bowl filled with the mussels and the delicious marinara sauce - OMG so good! Everyone who works at Randazzo's is fantastic. The waitresses are always personable, polite and just nice people. Paul, the owner actually cares about his business and walks around the restaurant to speak with customers and ask if they like the food. He did this 12 years ago when I first started coming to Randazzo's and he seem to do it every time we go. Paul's mother (God rest her soul) worked in the restaurant too and was a lovely lady. If you are looking for a good Seafood place with a casual atmosphere, try Randazzo's. You will keep going back just like us. BTW, make sure to get the mints on the way out. They are just part of the experience - so good. :) I usually only eat lobster for valentines, but here i can eat the Lobster Fra Diavolo every day is pretty amazing. Big lobster with a ton of shrimp, mussels and clams over pasta. The sauce is delicious with just the right amount of heat and the fish is fresh. Best I've had. Casual "old school" place that's all about the consistent quality of delicious food more than anything else. And for that I love this place and yearn to go every time we are in Brooklyn. If you go with group. YOU HAVE TO GET THE FRIED CALAMARI with HOT SAUCE!!! "It's all about the sauce" & the red sauce they have is AMAZING! As The atmosphere is incredibly casual and no-nonsense. Also have tried the Rigatoni with Vodka sauce last night for the first time. It was DELICIOUS! Friend got the red clam sauce & it was DELICIOUS too! It taste very fresh and obviously that's important for seafood. The sauce that the food come with the food is always excellent Overall, an excellent experience and I would definitely go back!

Like some other's, we had seen this place on TV and decided if Anthony Bourdain liked it, we would try it. We shared some fried calamari for an appetizer- tasty, but a small potion compared to many restaurants I have been to. Next, we all had soup, which was pretty good, with lots of clams in the chowder. I had a lobster roll, and it was okay....nothing special. ...Not very flavorful, and on a too-large ,heavy roll which I did not eat. The best part was the fried zucchini which came as a side dish choice with my meal. That was excellent, especially with the marinara sauce I asked for to dip the zucchini in!

My wife had seen that Anthony Bourdain had given this place a good review and, being fans of his shows, we wanted to check it out since it's only a 20 minute drive from our apartment. This place isn't much to look at, but don't let that scare you away. Having spent time almost every summer on Cape Cod, I'm no stranger to fresh seafood. Randazzo's passes muster on this score, at least in terms of the items we ate. The Manhattan-style clam chowder was stellar and reminded me of my grandfather who, raised in New York and retired in Cape Cod, would go clamming weekly and make the tangy red chowder by the batch, some to eat fresh, and some to freeze for the coming winter. The Little Neck clams were the kind of my youth, topped with breadcrumbs, and baked to perfection. Add a little fresh lemon juice, and you're transported to a back yard, Memorial Day clam bake. Typically, I'm not a fan of the Americanized, one-dimensional, heavily-sauced version of Italian fare, so I must admit I got a little nervous when our entrée, linguine with shrimp, arrived at our table, drowning in oily red sauce, with chunks of fresh garlic larger than the shrimp themselves. Somehow, it worked. The shrimp was fresh and perfectly cooked, bursting with flavor in every bite. The sauce, very obviously made with the revered San Marzano tomatoes and high-quality olive oil, miraculously didn't overpower the shrimp or the pasta, and there was enough left over to be soaked up by the freshly baked Italian bread. I should also mention the service: they've got it down to a science. Despite the crowds, the wait is manageable and once you're seated, the friendly waitresses are attentive, and see that you're never left waiting too long between courses. If you live in town but have never heard of Randazzo's, make the trip. If you're in from out of town and you're adventurous enough to want to cross the river and explore Brooklyn, make sure this is a stop on your itinerary, especially if you're headed to Coney Island. You won't be disappointed.

Last night, my wife and I decided to have dinner at Randazzos of Brooklyn. Have been coming here regularly for the past 3 or 4 years. Used to be great. Been noticing how the taste of the food, preparation , portions and cost of food had been sliding downward the past 2 visit. Last night it hit rock bottom. I order a stuffed flounder that was burnt at one end, the rest of the fish was as dry as cardboard, The stuffing was so dry that I was looking for a spoon instead of a fork. I am not allowed to eat potatoes, so I usually ask for a small pasta with sauce instead of the potato. Never had a waitress that would refuse this. Last nites waitress was extremely curt and said that I must pay $9 extra for this. She then said that I could have fried zucchini instead. When this came out, it was greasy and over fried. We asked for baked clams as an appetizer. The clams came out dry with no juices on the plate. Normally when you sit down, they would bring out bread. We had to ask twice for this. If this restaurant was busy at the time, I could except some of this but, it was not close to being busy. Also, my wife who ordered the salmon, said to me the the portions of hers and mine were almost half of the size of our previous visit and the prices had once again increased. Sorry Randall’s. I have now crossed you off of my dinner recommendation list. I will no longer patronize you.

When I go to Randazzo's, I order two things: Fried calamari and Lobster Randazzo. Both are always fresh. The lobster dish comes as a whole lobster, split into 10 pieces, over spaghetti or linguine in a buttery sauce with lots of fresh garlic. Some shrimp and clams accompany the dish. I've come to trust Randazzo's to serve the freshest seafood, and have never been disappointed in all the years that I've been going there.

The food was good, but not great. Very basic fare. They and zero vegetable options, other than potatoes. This is something I had never experienced at any restaurant I have ever been to. Also, there was no coffee on the menu. I don't get that. Why wouldn't they at least buy a Kurig coffee maker for any customer that wanted a cup of coffee with their meal??

Already decided what I'll order next time. Staff very courteous and helpful.also liked the Tuesday buy one get one whole lobster deal...yum

This family run place is a local favorite that has been around for many, many years. It is crowded, noisy, and is stuck in a time warp but what makes it great is the wonderful food, large portions, fast service, and reasonable prices. Tables are packed close together, they are barely wiped clean, wine is served in a plastic cup, you are given a plastic pitcher of iced water, the cook is yelling orders over an inaudible loudspeaker, but that is what this place is all about. Packed with local repeat customers that the waitstaff greats by name and asks them if they want the usual, a few tourists like us, but everyone is given fast courteous service. I wouldn't dress up to go here or expect a candle light quiet dinner, but I got what I expected...local ambiance, local food ( and lots of it), and an enjoyable evening.

I was there last Friday 9th Oct, we went there with group of friends, so we can try different kinds of food there, and coz one of our friend told there is a famous Rest, so i go there with lots of hopes too, for the comments from most of us was just OK for some of the food there, i want to mention about the mussels there was unbelievable small, that i never had in other Italian rest, and they are famous in servicing Italian seafood, i have order shrimp randazzo for myself, the dish was just no flavor, i share my dish w three friends, they have the same comments. One of my friend have breaded fried shrimp, the shrimp was over cook, its to dry, i just felt chewing something very hard. also the white wine there was bad, we spend $460 there, its not are cheap price we spent, but cant got what we deserve there. by the way the service there just general, i dont feel warm or w heart, the waitress got $60 tips fm us, she has lots of room to improve. this is the first time and also the last time i be this Rest.

Have been going to Randazzo' s for almost 40 yrs now, nobody does seafood better! Great service, location, atmosphere, and the food is always fresh and delicious!

By NYC standards this was a lot of really good food for the price. Our Boston people loved the lobster rolls with all meat. The calamari was super - with the mild sauce - and some od the best and juicy salmon ever. This kind of family seashore restaurant with great food and local feel is getting harder to find. Love this place.

I was here for a fishing trip from one of the Sheepshead Bay piers and was very hungry so tried out this restaurant. They have a board there telling Sea food is not cheap and that cheap sea food is not good! True to the saying their sea food was very good and tasty. I asked for oysters and clams in hot sauce and I got it just right! Wanted to watch Trumps debate on TV and they shifted my table to where I could watch without craning my neck. Great place with courteous staff and fantastic food!

Simply awesome!!!! Best sauce ever. Been coming here for 35 years and amazing every time... Calamari is always fresh and cooked perfect.

Best clam bar in Brooklyn. I come straight here as soon as I get off the plane. Ask for grace. She is fun and efficient. Baked clams, and calamari are my favorite. Just tried the collousul shrimp and they were great. Pasta is always cooked to perfection but the sauce makes everything that much better.

This place is a joke, it is dirty and dingy. The food is terrible and expensive. I have no idea what we paid for but it was not worth it. Plastic cups of water and waitresses wearing scrubs. I would like to know where thier money goes to and it sure is not going into the resturaunt. Do not belive the hype about this dinosaur of a "clam bar" which is all they should serve. We order the clams and some pasta dish the pasta dish was soo blained it was really gross it actually tasted as if the clam juice from the can was poured in as a sauce. Save your money and find somewhere else to go. Also the seats are very close together very uncomfortable atmosphere and it's very loud in there including some of there obnoxious and lazy waitresses.

Food was delicious came here with my daughters. Our waitress Robin was really sweet and friendly. I will return before the summer ends.

Been going to Rendazzo’s for over 50 years. You know people say when they go back to a place that it’s not the same? Well this is! Except the price. Clams, baked clams, and chowder, but what I go for is the Calamari with hot sauce. It’s all about the sauce. I know because their tee shirts tell me it’s about the sauce. The sauce has not changed in all these years. This is not fancy, and not cheap. It’s good. So much has changed in Sheepshead Bay, this place is a throwback. Service? What can I get you? Can I get a calamari with hot sauce on top!

Randazzo's is a casual restaurant across the street from the bay. We started off with a cup of their fabulous New England clam chowder and followed with fried calamari, prepared in a light coating. Also shared steamed mussels, which were large and delicious. Portions were generous. They also offer a good house wine, reasonably priced. Service was very good. Parking for the most part is on the street, although they do have a very small lot behind the restaurant. Highly recommend!

Customer service was okay, my friends and I sat outside to eat and enjoy the view. Customer service was fair and the food was just, okay . Wouldn't go back.

We were in the mood for cherry stone clams and stopped here for lunch. We very much enjoyed our simple meal: a dozen and a half of delicious clams on the shell, superb Manhattan clam chowder and a generous serving of fries as well as a bake potato. There are so many restaurants to choose from in this neighborhood and we are happy we came here.

My friend and i were in the mood for what we thought would be Randazzos like in Sheepshead Bay,, were we wrong,, Smaller than normal portions ,, and way overpriced,, ill drive to the original location in Brooklyn this one ,,,im not going back to Sorry

I used to eat here regularly when I lived in Brooklyn, it is in Sheepshead Bay across the street from the water. It is very pleasant to eat here in the summer and then walk along the avenue. The food is very good.

Very very good seafood in a comfortable seaside spot. Fresh as fresh can be ! Appetizers were well prepared. Loved the fried calamari and artichoke hearts

Be prepared for a long meal. The waitres leave you alone,so you must get her attention. We ordered boiled shrimp and pasta with the medium sauce it could've been hotter. Great touch the hard bread in the sauce, taste like a giant croutons. You can order 1/2 orders and share. Try the Manhattan clam chowder, just like mom used to make. Inside nothing fancy, what you would expect at a clam bar.

By far, the best Italian seafood outside of what my Italian mother makes. Stick with the classic dishes like clams, muscles and shrimp - include the pasta marinara sauce. Ask them to make it spicy - yes, it's all about the sauce. For all those reviews who don't see this place meeting their standards - stupido - don't order out of the specialties. Lobsters rolls and and Americana dishes aren't what they do great. Outside of old school Italy, this place is as good as Italian seafood gets!!!

Very popular location for locals, considered to be one of the clam/oysters places at Brooklyn. Softshell crab, chowdars, pastas, clams, etc, Service is home-style, not overly formal.Food is quite OK, even if not super haute cuisine or formal establishment

This is the best clam bar in New York. The sauce is definitely the best. I have been eating here for 30 years and I alway enjoy the food and service.

Love the necks on a half shell, also the best fried calamari!! By the water and great views. Love the necks on a half shell, also the best fried calamari!! By the water and great views.

We loved this place. It doesn't pretend to be fancy but gosh the food and atmosphere are great. It's been in the family for several generations and all the locals eat there. It's clean, very friendly and great service. The fish soup was fantastic, really tasted home made and the clams were huge and had masses of flavor. It was 27 dollars but worth every penny and a lot of the other dishes were much cheaper. I loved the way they offered you a bib with a picture of a lobster on it to stop you messing your clothes. And all this with the harbour just over the road.

Nostalgic in every way, from the Italian American traditional seafood of days gone by, to the servers and clam Schuckers who have stayed for generations. The last of its kind in Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn. The stuffed lobster with baby shrimp and seasoned Italian breadcrumb is the stuff dreams are made of, along with the perfectly breaded fried zucchini side. The ice cold blue point Oysters were refreshing and delicious and much better than the dirty little neck clams, which the clam shucker gladly rinsed for us instead of shucking a new one. That was a turn off . The fried calamari had the perfect light crispness to it, and was served with a side saddle of their famous hot sauce and juicy lemons. The only thing I missed was the Manhattan special, they no longer offer it !

I love randazzos clam bar. I've been going here for years and the food is still great. The staff are friendly and attentive. The menu isn't that pricey and the atmosphere is a little loud. You have the option of indoor and outdoor seating. I can't complain about anything I've ever had on the menu. I love randazzos.

Had lunch today at Randazzo's, great food! I was very surprised, a very simple down to earth facility with superior Italian Food. Highly recommended. Bill

Exactly the sort of place you envisage for the area! Family run and operated. Great service, and best of all excellent food.

A long time restaurant by Sheepshead Bay, your desire for seafood will be satisfied here. Whether you want clams, calamari, mussels, shrimp, or other tasty delights, you will find it here. You absolutely MUST try their fries. They are the best. Service is excellent and the bay is right across the street. Their sauce is fantastic! And should you not want to sit at a table, just hop up on a stool at the clam bar.

Randazzo's is a must place to visit for last 10 years trips to Brooklyn/NYC. It's renovated after the Sandy and had its traditional menu of oysters, clams, mussels an other sea food Service is fast and family-like, prices are reasonable, food is good - especially chowder and crabs Recommended

If you are looking for fabulous, fresh ,authentic Italian seafood this is the best choice. Hubby had the broiled salmon and I had the shrimp parmisian with linguine. The Italian bread all I can say is OMG!!! A great restaurant. Also it hasn't changed in years and that's a good thing. Oh,don't ask for coffee. They don't have any. LOL

Have visited this location many-many times starting in 1979 and I can say I have never left without good feeling. The fried Calamari is arguably the best. Seafood is always fresh. Décor is very old fashioned. Service - depends on a day.

I grew up in Brooklyn all my younger years and went to Kings Borough Community College too. This place was an iconic place when I was a kid. It had quite the reputation, which is why when I found myself in Brooklyn for a business meeting I figured I'd treat myself. Well it turned out to be quite disappointing. Frankly, I doubt very much that the chef's are Italian. The food in my own kitchen is much better and I'm a professional in the Financial Services industry. I'd skip this place if I were you... Joe L. from Huntington

It's just off the Belt Parkway. It's about a 10 minute walk from the Sheepshead Bay subway stop and about a 15 minute walk from the Brighton Beach boardwalk. Randazzo's Clam Bar Restaurant is casual. Service is great. Staff are friendly. Prices are moderate. It's not very expensive but it's also not cheap. I really really liked the Lobster bisque soup and the fried clams. I recommend them both. I wasn't as big of a fan of the fried calamari and the baked clams. They were just okay.

If you head out to Sheepshead Bay, a trip to Randazzo's is obligatory. We loved the old school style - great service and great people watching! Marinara sauce was excellent but the rest of the food was heavy. Of course, we ordered a lot of fried food but heavier than your average fried food. My partner had calamari which he found very fresh but not particularly flavourful. He had baked clams and he found the topping very bready. I had fried fish sandwich which was quite yummy but I didn't feel like eating til the next day!!! Mixed review - if you're good with fried food and want a great old school vibe, check this place out!! If your system can't take all that rich food maybe stop by from a drink and some people watching!

This restaurant is a mom and pop's place to eat. The place is simple but the food is outstanding. You may sit with the vie to the street and then you may see boats docking at the marina. Have a beer and some clams to compliment the view. The staff wears a black t-shirt "Can you say Galamah?
Living on expired fame
Didn't know the area, we were looking for a special place to have lunch, celebrating my daughter's graduation. The place could easily seat 200 , there were about 30 people and we had to wait one good hour before they come with even. Appetizers and main course at the same time. The place brags about its secret recipe for tomato sauce. Very ordinary, nothing was remarkable among the half a dozen dishes we ordered. The seafood pasta came with tiny specs of seafood, you couldn't distinguish which one is what. Wait staff that were never told that retirement is a possibility. Move on guys , this place is long gone, and it's not even a good bargain if you think it is.
