The quality of food is always great here and the service was great. The music just adds to the value of dining experience.

Good Lunch

By Tim S |

We dropped in for a quick bite in between errands. My wife and I shared a strawberry margarita and vegetarian burrito. The service was great and fast, and the food/drink was even faster! We were in and out filled up and happily tipsy within 35 minutes. Would definitely come back for dinner.

Good find

By Carl R |

Located in a strip mall in the Raleigh hills area of Portland, this out of the way place was packed at 1:00 on a Thursday afternoon. Very nicely decorated in a Mexican theme. Free salsa and chips. Free salsa bar. Happy hour starts at 4:00. I had the goat stew and she had the taco assortment for lunch. About 11.00 per place. That, topped off with Negra modela beer, on tap, made for a nice lunch. Young helpful waitress. I'll be back.

Very good food!

After Thanksgiving we wanted a break from turkey and decided on Raul's as it was nearby. Good choice. The selections are many, the variety is good and everyone liked their meals.

Favorite Mexican Restaurant

By Rachel F |

I've been here multiple times and have had great service and food every time. The fajitas are always hot and vegetables are fresh!

a really nice lunch for not a whole lot of money!

By wdlander |

My brother-in-law took me and my wife here, and we had a really nice lunch. The place is squeaky clean, service really good, and the food was really good. I had the macho burrito ,my brother in law a fish taco, and my wife chicken fajitas. with some nice Mexican beer,it made for a really good lunch. The place is quiet , and makes for easy conversation. It would be good for a business lunch, and I imagine a birthday celebration would be quite fun. there is a full bar, a nice selection of wine and beer. Give int a try,I'm sure you will like it.

MUY BUENO!!

By Cis |

A co worker told me about this place. Living about 25 miles away, I had an appointment in the area a d stopped by for lunch. The menu was not the typical Mexican fare that we find here locally. It was very authentic dishes for the region, and we'll prepared and flavorful. Even the chips served with salsa and bean dip were better than I have had at other establishments. Great margarita with fresh squeezed juices!! Wish it was closer to my home!!!!

generous portions

Another great throw back family style Mexican restaurant. Everything you'd expect is on the regular, extensive menu; and the quantities are tremendous.

Lunch

Absolutely love Raul’s. Owner, Raul, is very personable & a true “foodie”, along with his wife & children. The food is beyond Americanized Mexican—it is authentic!! I have many favorites & some made on the spot & not on the menu. The wait staff is beyond friendly and so devoted to excellent service. Our favorite “go to” restaurant. ❤️❤️

Different menu

By Grim R |

I would have given them a higher rating but being hispanic myself one key thing I look for is authentic chips and salsa. As this starts and sets off the pallets for the meal they don't serve them. My wife had a veggitarian burrito excellent flavor and love the addition of mushrooms to their meals. I had the combo fajitas of chicken, carne asada and shrimp all excellent and again have never had fajitas with mushrooms. Very good. Just get the real chips guys

Excellent Mexican food in a matching atmosphere

By Diana W |

I visited here while in town for a conference on the recommendation of a friend and I was not disappointed. I later returned with my family and the agreed. Great food! Great service! Great atmosphere! I enjoyed the chips and dip as an appetizer before my chimichanga plate arrived. First time trying the chimichanga and I would defiantly have it again. My waiter was wonderful to offer many suggestions when I inquired what his favorite dishes were. I will defiantly be eating here again whenever I’m the area

Raul's

By Donna M |

Hands down best authentic Mexican recipes (and they keep coming) in town. It is a small restaurant decorated delightfully. Raul is gracious and you can tell family is important as there are special days for kids menus. I have several favorite menu items and love the wait staff and chefs. The Original Margarita is not a mix and if you love lime, you will love this. You always leave saying good bye to special friends.

Really bad to go experience

By macinoregon |

I've contacted the restaurant before posting this - with no response. Last week we ordered to go. We specifically went to this place again because of their great ground beef tacos. When we got home - the tacos (had specifically ordered ground beef) were huge chunks of tough, stringy beef with lots of fat. Not only were they the wrong item and tough - there was no seasoning in the meat. I don't like real spicy food but this was no flavor at all. We also ordered cheese enchiladas - and they were so bland and tasteless. I was excited to show my friends a good meal - and it was so beyond disappointing.

Good, solid food for a reasonable price

Staff is attentive and helpful. Food was hot and tasty. Our group of four enjoyed their selections and the bill at the end did not spoil the memory of the meal.

Wonderful Food

By ArtinBR |

What a great family-owned and -run restaurant. It was almost at capacity at 6:00 on a Saturday night. The service fast and efficient and the servers were very personable. The tortilla chips, salsa and bean dip were excellent, as was the house Margurita. I had to try the chili rellenos because I can not find a good one in Baton Rouge. I like them stuffed with cheese, battered, and fried. That was exactly like the one I got at Raul's. My wife had an chicken enchilada and the other couple had quesadilla, a tamale, a chicken enchilada, and a chilli rellenos. The rice and beans were also very good. Although it was very busy, the noise level was low so that conversation was easy. Great dinner. Great place.

Vegans Get in Here

By JasperMarks |

Wow. A friend told me about this place. I decided to stop in for lunch yesterday and was blown away. The salsa is great, the chips are wonderful. The service is friendly (but not as attentive as I might have hoped). I ordered the spinach enchiladas without cheese. The spinach was fresh and the green sauce flavorful. I intend to return here with friends next weekend. A wonderful Mexican restaurant for Vegans too.

A strip mall surprise

A very unsuspecting Mexican place with good comfort food, great service and nice happy hour choices 3-5 only. Family friendly and great decor.

Delicious authentic tradition Mexican food

Service was over the top fantastic. Our server Ernesto was professional, efficient, and just perfect. The restaurant was very clean and well lit. The menu was extensive and easy to understand with nice photos. The food was fantastic. We will be back.

Mexican at its best

By Andrea R |

Okay, I have no idea why this listing has disappeared from trip advisor. We have been eating here for several years. Even before the name change. Was (Si Senor) The food has always been wonderful. If you want to try several items all at once, order the "tour of Mexico" we have never been disappointed, with the food, service or the drinks. Watch out for the Loco Margarita. It kicks like a Mule, at least me it did. (Smile) Family friendly, great range of prices, and sizes of meals. Know you will enjoy your trip to Raul's. Just across from the Raleigh hills Freddies. Cheers

Lunch with family

The food at Raul’s is delicious. The meal not only starts with chips and salsa, but also bean dip. The decorations are awesome colorful and authentic feels like Mexico. The waiter was adorable, so friendly and quick witted. Loved it will be returning soon.

A catered event

By Catherine M |

For our outdoor small family event, Raul and Rose brought the food served in five chafing dishes with fuel cans, serving spoons and tongs, one warming dish per household due to the pandemic. They set up tortilla chips, different salsas and guacamole on each table. For dinner, beef barbacoa, carnitas, steak fajitas, rice and refried beans were all excellent. Thank you for your great service and contributing to a nice evening.

Standards Done With Care

By HenryW |

Raul's adds just enough of an extra dose of care and flavor to make its dishes stand out from other Mexican cafes. The salsa bar adds an extra touch to the good selections, meat or fish. Chips are always fresh. Service is friendly.

Great mexican Eats!

Excellent family style mexican food. Great service, massive flavourful margaritas and delicious bean dip. Fajitas and Chimichangas were amazing!

Go! You'll be wonderfully surprised!

By DisneyGramma |

Hubby and I have been going to Raul's since he opened. He serves Jalisco style. They have many specialties and run a good special daily. You are greeted with salsa, chips and bean dip. Nice decor, friendly staff. We like to go during the week when it isn't as busy for lunch or an early dinner. Great food with large portions! Drinks are good, too!!!

Excellent Mexican American food.

By Florian H |

This restaurant serve the traditional Mexican American food you find anywhere else, yet they have a set of speciality or food selection which you won't find in many other places and which these guys do very well. I got their Molcajete twice now, and I can say that this is Excellent. The other food items are also surprisingly well done and big portions. This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in the SW side of Portland's suburbs. There is better Mexican cuisine restaurants, but for the traditional dish you get to expect in the US for Mexican food, these guys are the best in the West.

Awesome friendly fast and efficient service ... Would come back

By KweqSmanit |

We were greeted VERY promptly and seated. Warm delicious chips and two kinds of tasty salsa were quickly put on the table, our waitress "explained" the menu to me and showed me the lighter fare and drinks and desserts to me on the menu. Waiter was very nice, FAST, and efficient. The entire staff was "on the ball" when we were there . Large menu with tons of choices. All the usual Mexican beers were there and LOTS of drink choices including plenty of non alcoholics. Meal was delicious and I would eat there again for sure.Portions were decently large, I did not have dessert as I was too full.Tasty and somewhat "American-Mexican" I would say.But not in a bad way. Bathroom was clean and as well the main dining room appeared clean. PLENTY of vegetarian choices and seafood too. Nicely painted and tiled with a somewhat predictable yet satisfying theme of flags, toucans, sculptures, and such.DEFINITELY worth a visit.

Excellent Mexican-American Cuisine

By lasports |

From entrance to exit a Class Act. The restaurant is small with table seating, clean, and average to low sound level. The staff is very welcoming with excellent service. The food is very tasty and fresh and the food portions are more than adequate. For those that choose dinner drinks--they are well made.

Amazing hidden gem in the suburbs !

Authentic delicious Mexican food, extremely large portions and perfect service !!! We had a wonderful evening and will definitely come back to Raul's!

Fully stuffed!

By minniemae |

Been here twice every time we visit Portland. My first time here was amazing! Same extensive menu. Great authentic Mexican cuisine served in huuuge heavy plates; you will never leave hungry (you will leave with a take-out box though). Always excellent attentive service. Normally, most everything here is delicious. I'd like to give it a 5-star rating but the guacamole, sour cream, and supposedly mushrooms were missing ingredients from my food this time. Maybe the kitchen was rushing because its near closing time.

Good, but Spendy

By Ryan |

I have now been here twice, and have been pretty happy with both visits. The tortilla soup is excellent, and the rest of the food is pretty great for this style of Mexican restaurant. The service has been generally pretty good, as well. My only complaint is that the prices are quite a bit higher than any similar place, but it seems the food is still worth the cost . . . albeit barely.

Wonderful food- plenty of it- best of all- really nice folks!

Have been several times as it is in my neighborhood. Really good food, great margaritas and fantastic people!

Great food, great Margharita

By luv2travel255 |

My husband, stepson, and I recently ate dinner here. The food menu is extensive as is the drink menu for a Mexican restaurant. My stepson ordered a combo dinner which ran about $7-8, my husband ordered fish tacos ($15), and I ordered chicken fajitas ($15). They got beers and I had a margharita which was one of the best I've had in a long time. The food portions were large. My chicken was super tender and tasty. My husband raved about his fish tacos and the combo dish was very good as well. The waiter was very pleasant and funny and took his time to talk with us. The chips and salsa offered before dinner were also very tasty. Yes, I highly recommend this restaurant and put it on my list when we revisit my stepson in the future.

Good meal

By orchidist |

I had been to the restaurant that occupied the same space years ago and wasn't so impressed but a friend with a Latino family highly recommended Raul's so we gave it another chance. Raul himself served us and was super friendly and accommodating. The combo plate is of good value. Still a bit heavy on sauce and cheese drowning the meals but that seems to be to make Americans happy. Delicious flan for dessert.

Good Mexican and great service

The waiters here are very attentive and the service is great. The food is good too. Typical Mexican fare but tasty. The chips are crispy. Really good Margarita!

8 of us were on a wedding party shopping excursion. We asked at the bridal shop where to eat. Her recommendation was spot on. Might possibly be the best Mexican food I have ever tasted!! Service was good too!
