We booked the elixir expirience for our birthdays. It was awesome! I loved the decor, the actors were great, the drinks we made were fun and the food was delicious. I will return!

If Walt's evil twin, Alt Disney, had devised and decorated Raven's Manor, it could not be better. I'm not kidding, this is some all-enchanting ambiance. I wanted to come here for my birthday but knew October is busy! We got in line about 4:45 since they opened at 5:00. By coming early I was able to get a table without too much of a wait but understand: usually you will wait without a reservation! The staff were friendly and attired such that they were almost additional decor. Our server, Piper, was so helpful in describing the drinks so that we could chose something we would enjoy. For me, she suggested their premier beverage, "The Crystal Ball". Wow! I've never seen anything like it. My husband chose "Bitter Bones" which was perfect for him and also excellently presented. I even got to try Absinthe for the first time ever. I also got a delicious ghost beignet for my birthday! It was perfectly cooked: crisp and tasty and came with a delicious raspberry dipping sauce. Unfortunately, we had dinner reservations elsewhere, but we will return to sample more of their food offerings (which looked really good from what we could see at the other tables). Piper showed us a haunted "baby clown" music box named "Bestie" . Bestie randomly plays music unbidden (and unwound!) to communicate with the human realm. That doll was super scary! (I mean, "I love Bestie. She is so sweet and nice.") Also, the owner Rebecca heard it was my birthday and came over to say hello. She was also in theme (her throat was slit! I sure hope she's okay!). Again, all the staff looked amazing. What I am REALLY looking forward to is the Elixir Experience. This is sold out for a while but I'll get a reservation soon, I hope! There really is nothing like Raven's Manor in Portland (or anywhere I have been) and I highly recommend this place. And it's not just for Halloween season: Piper told us in December they do a "Crampus" theme. We'll be back for that!

We had an absolutely phenomenal time at the Manor. The elixir experience is a mix of escape room / dinner theater / science club. The staff was very accommodating as a woman in our group had a unique allergy and they did everything possible to ensure she wouldn’t be affected. I will say, if you book the elixir experience, do not book a separate dining reservation as you do have time after the experience for a semi private dinner. I feel like this should be more clearly called out during the elixir reservation process. When we return to Portland, this will most definitely be at the top of our things to do list.

Loved all the little details and actors/hosts who created such a fun experience. Clearly the team who curated this experience worked very hard and created a fun interesting interactive storyline to be a part of for all who book this class. I can't wait to go back!

This was so much fun! We started with the Elixer Experience mixology class. It begins with a role playing mystery to gather clues to go to the "lab." Unexpected and fun. The experience in the "lab" was amusing with tasty, cocktails created with oddly named ingredients. The staff was great, really getting into their roles. We had dinner afterwards sitting at the original 100+ year old bar. The food was good and the service pleasant and attentive. A place to visit if you like gothy horror with a little Munsters thrown in.

This is a must-visit if you’re in the area and like spooky vibes! We couldn’t get in when we first stopped in, but found it easy to make a reservation for the next evening. The decor is spectacular and clearly organized intentionally. There are a few surprises throughout the building that startled me and made me laugh. Our meals were fine, nothing out of this world. The shrimp, though, was particularly tasty.

It’s like the Hunted Mansion was taken over by demons and they opened a bar. We partook in the elixir experience which is an incredible way to experience this immersive bar in such a unique way. You start this journey by completing an escape room like game with the entire group. Then you retire to the dungeon where laughs and screams are entangled with drinks of your own making. My friend exclaimed that they had never been plastered in a more theatrical way! Don’t skip the food because you will truly be missing out. Great for a date night or just something fun to do. Of course the bar is not to be missed on a regular evening because their drink menu is massive and you can’t take it all in, in one go around.

This is quite possibly the coolest bar/restaurant I’ve ever been to. Was our food the best food ever? No, but it was decent and thematic and fairly well executed. Were the drinks the best ever? Yeah, actually they were. Ask the server about their most theatrical drinks. You’ll be glad you did. I wish I could upload our videos here. I didn’t take still images of the best drinks or the food (video made more sense in the moment). It’s very clean and professional too, which you might not expect if you didn’t know better. Imagine a horror side attraction that makes you feel fancy and well looked after. If you like Halloween and/or witchy stuff, you’ve got to check this place out. It’s one of a kind. We’ll definitely be back each time we’re in Portland.

Last night I was lucky enough to get on the list for the Raven's Manor Elixir Experience and wow, what an amazing time! This is a fully immersive experience that fleshes out (ha ha) the narrative backstory of Dr. Raven, his forays into necromancy, and the fêtes he hosted at the Manor to fuel his diabolical research. The experience starts with a mystery room experience where the evening's guests work as a team to find clues to open up a secret room and sample some of the Doctor's special concoctions. After enjoying the libation (4 options to choose from), the groups move to the laboratory to work on their own research, which are 2 signature elixirs. You're provided a grimoire of recipes, ingredients, and the Doctor's daughter oversees your creations. This was super fun, and makes you fully appreciate the bartenders of the establishment because some of the recipes are a little tricky and require some patience. All our drinks were delicious, and you get 3 drinks included with your admission fee. There's the option to order from the menu following the experience and enjoy some food and additional drinks. The actors of the experience are fantastic and the show and interactivity makes for a fun evening. During our experience, a guest from another party made a foul scene and tried to ruin the whole thing, but the staff handled it with grace and professionalism and we all had a great time regardless of the person's shenanigans. We met some cool people and had a really delightful evening. Pro Tip: If you order the Blood of Your Enemies, you *also* get a chance to scream out your frustrations, which is itself worth the money. Second pro tip: The Grilled Cheese of Doom and tomato soup is so good your tongue will slap your forehead to get another taste. For a fun, creepy, interactive night, don't miss Dr. Raven's Elixir Experience. I know I'll be back again!

What a fun and elegant place to dine! Food and cocktails were great. Very creative. Service was exceptional! The atmosphere is quite unique as a haunted house theme. I understand it changes every season while keeping it the haunted theme. Highly recommend for a great night with good food and drinks.

This is an experience bar/restaurant. We attended late one evening after a show, for a drink and snacks, and to check the place out. It's great, and the pictures don't do the place justice. It's decorated on a spooky, Halloweenish theme. It's intentionally very dark, mostly with real candles for lighting. And it was meant to be explored. Obviously stay out of staff-only areas, but otherwise it's worth poking in corners, taking one of the two stairways, and just finding what they have for you. Our drinks were good, and our charcuterie platter was perfect for two. The signature drinks are quite expensive (e.g. $37), but ordinary drinks are more typically priced. The dinner menu looks a little limited, but we didn't really study it, and we'd certainly consider going back with friends to share the experience. Also convenient, it is literally just across the street from the 1st & Oak Max line. Get off the north end of the train, cross Oak, go inside.

Literally the coolest place in all of portland! Amazing themed cocktails and food! I’m excited to see what happens in the future!

I have been here several times now and my experience gets worse each time, unfortunately. I really enjoyed the Elixir Experience last June when I booked it for my friends and me for my birthday. We had a blast and thought the staff was great. The place has gotten stupidly popular since and the hype takes away from the fun that could be had. Went back in October for a magic show and had a good time even if the magic show was sort of bland. Was able to try some more of the food and drinks, which are very showy and fun if sometimes mediocre tasting. Was back in February for a normal dinner with two friends. My vegetarian chicken sandwich was smooshed looking and obviously made from a frozen patty. Fine tasting, but nothing I couldn't have made at home. Both of my friends' sandwiches contained condiments they requested be left off. The Market of the Manor was my latest trip and it was a disappointment. There was a line out the door, a huge crowd, and a 30 minute wait for meh drinks. It could all be seen in 10 minutes, but there was no seating so you couldn't have dinner and cocktails after.

The wait time for this bar without a reservation was about 2-3hrs. We got lucky that they allowed us to sit at the bar since it was just the two of us. We only waited 30 minutes. We didn’t try any of the food because we went for the drinks and ambiance. The drinks were really good and inexpensive. The bartenders and servers were really friendly. The decor, music and people in their costumes gave us all the Halloween feels. I would definitely go back!

We did the Elixir Experience. Sooooo fun!!!! You wear lab coats with fake blood, starts with an escape room, then you mix up your own cocktails with ingredients like “dragon’s breath” etc. the drinks are tasty. FYI if you want food that is extra $$$$

The elixir experience is an absolute must. It is exactly what they say it is, an experience! The staff go all in with the theatrics and are incredibly nice. The story behind the experience is fun to participate in and the drinks are absolutely fascinating to create! The experience itself has something for everyone. I rarely, if ever, drink alcohol, but I enjoyed three of the four drinks that I tried. For the elixir experience, you choose which drinks you are making and then make them as a group. You also have the option of ordering additional drinks and food for the end of the experience. Our particular experience was interrupted by a grumpy girl who made it very obvious that she didn’t want to be there and wasn’t enjoying herself at all. She was disrespectful to the staff and everyone in our group was irritated by her obnoxious behavior. It was childish and rude. Despite her behavior, the staff played it off well and made sure that everyone there that evening enjoyed themselves. I’ve never experienced anything like this before at a bar. It was comfortably creepy and perfect for spooky people like myself and my friends. I highly recommend you check it out whether you’re just going out for drinks or reserving space for the elixir experience. One of the best nights I’ve had in Portland.

We went with a group of seven during Rose City Comic Con and since we got there pretty early, they were able to seat us right away. We had called ahead and been told there was a table big enough but it was first-come first-served, so we probably got lucky but it was fine. Even during daylight hours, the place is quite dark inside so anyone with low light issues should be warned in advance. Of course, this means the place is 100% atmosphere from end to end and it’s fabulous. Very few themed bars I’ve seen are as complete as this one is. (Maybe Trader Sam’s and the old lamented Adventurer’s Club but both those had a totally different theme.) The seating areas in front and up on the balcony are all worth viewing and the staff (who great you with “Welcome, Victims!”) encourage wandering around to look at everything. There is a stated 2-hour time limit but as it wasn’t slammed and our table spent many hundreds of dollars, we were allowed to stay about a half hour past that. There is a photo booth in back (5.00. Takes cards or cash) and sound effects in the rear area called the West Wing, which is like a tiny haunted house. The bathrooms are in the basement with a truly creepy hallway, another heavily and gorily themed seating area (this is not a good place for kids, aside from being a bar), and the ladies’ room at least has flickering lights and resident ghosts. Can’t speak for the men’s other than the guys said “the soap glows.” Every inch of Raven’s Manor is themed. The food too is themed. Drinks perform: some come with light up ice and dry ice, some are chemical tricks that continue to grow bubbles as it sits on the table. These are craft cocktails so expect to spend 18-25 each, though they are mixed with a generous hand. There is also a full bar, beer and ciders. Food is also presented well: the grilled cheese gourmet sandwich is made on house-crafted black bread and the burgers are branded. Bread included with the dip is tombstone shaped and says RIP. Everything we ate was very good. Overall, we were totally pleased with our visit. We had a ton of fun wandering around looking at all the decor, we took shifts in the photo booth and we tried a lot of the food and we drank a lot. As a result, the one downside is that our bills, when separated, were not separated correctly. Admittedly, the food orders were constant, starting with meals for some of us but several rounds of appetizers for others, plus dessert (ghost shaped beignets, very cute). Also drinks began as one round and while some of us only had one, most of us had 3 or 4. The glassware that drinks are served in is also for sale and many of the table bought take-home ware. The wait staff were not able to keep up with this apparently, so when the bills arrived, two of the four had extra charges and even after going over that twice, when we got home, one of us realized we’d been charged for someone else’s food items. So it was a bit of a disaster in the billing area but everything else was well worth it. Advice to enjoy: go early, take friends, tell them you want split bills (if you want split bills) from the start and be vigilant about what your charges are when you get that bill. Tips are included as in most of the Portland area. Oh and when you first walk in, wait a moment for your eyes to adjust: there are eye-level decorations that can smack you in the face if you’re sun-blind. Ambient music is themed too, which I have noted at other themed bars generally is not. Also, if you're staying near the convention center, especially at the Hyatt, the restaurant is about a block from a train stop.

We really enjoyed this place. We came in out of curiosity and wish we had known about the place prior to our visit. They hold a mixology experience we think we would have enjoyed. The next few days were booked so we won’t be able to get that done on this trip. Schedule in advance. The ambience was really intriguing. They let you wander around as there is a bit to see. It is a good way to spend waiting for your food to arrive. They had an assortment of cool drinks with smoke, lights, and other effects. Though the food menu is simple the food itself was great. My fried chicken sandwich was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The ingredients were fresh. My wife also thoroughly enjoyed her hamburger. We can’t wait to come back to this place for a more thorough experience in the mixology class.

This is not just dinner, it is an experience! Very clever cocktails served in unusual ways and wonderfully creative dishes. All served in an immersive, creative, haunted house atmosphere. Am told the decor, dishes, and cocktail menu change every few months, according to the season. Very fun place to be.
Unique Restaurant Bar Expérience
Haunted Bar in the center of Portland. Goolish drinks and ghostly servers. Friendly servers and varied menu.
