WOW!!..really good

By Anurag Agarwal |

I was impressed big time by the pizza, flavors, choices and price. The wood fired, thin crust was excellent. I would higly recommend. Don't go by the rustic simple look and location. Food is great and plentiful.

Best Pizza in San Antonio

By Gregg B |

Best NY Style Pizza I have found outside of NY. We bought 15 pies for our team and all of them were devoured.

Very Good.

Decided to give this place a try, The pizza was pretty good.. Spent about $14 on a pizza and 2 drinks, Not bad at all..

Ray's kicks it!

By Aggie1994 |

Passing through SA after camping we went online for good NY-style pizza in town. But after reading menu's of highly rated pizza places and decided everything in Italian just meant high prices, we decided on Ray's. The large pizza was cheap, tasty, and NY thin crust. $12 for it compared to $20 for a 10-inch personal pie at the highfalutin (and highly rated) option. Way to go Ray!

GREAT PLACE TO EAT lunch or Dinner.

I WAS NOT ONE FOR PIZZA AND MOST ITALIAN FOOD. UNTIL MY DAUGHER introduce me to Rays. All dishes and been excellent and place is spotless clean.

Solid value, ordinary pizza

Went with a large group and they did a great job taking care of us. Pizza was solid but not impressive. I stood at the Gelato counter for about 5 minutes during lunch and apparently there's some magic to getting a cone. They saw me standing there but apparently the Gelato barista had the day off....

Comparable to Italy

By The Cycling Foodie |

As many of my readers know I lived in Italy for about 3 years. I've been back in the US for about 18 months. I have been craving Italian style thin crust pizza with fresh ingredients for months! Finally!! Some coworkers dragged me away to try their beloved pizza place. I just knew I would be disappointed. I was WRONG! It was verrrry good! Soooo close to the Naples style pizzas!! I'm not sure if they use an open oven concept but I swear the crust came out of a brick oven. Very good and very close to what you would find in Italy. I also got a Greek salad which was delightful! Cost about 8 bucks with drink, pizza, and salad!

Great Lunch Specials

Get there before noon or after 1pm on weekdays or plan to explain to your boss why you are late getting back from lunch. Excellent lunch specials, great pizza--just like NY!!

One Big Slice!!

By itihoame2 |

We had a side salad, along with a huge piece of pizza, at a cheap price. It was good. It is a local place, and is very nice inside. Always seems to be busy.

Drop in

I thought this was really good, was close by and took a chance and was very satisfied all the way around. Good service excellent pizza and all pizza joints should have beer on tap. Oh and the salad was very good, the giant pie fed 3 13 year old boy's...all for 50 bucks, done and done.

Great Pizza !

This is the second time I been here since I visited San Antonio, Its a good pizza place to eat at if you visiting and looking for something good to eat. I'm not gonna over do it and say it was the best pizza ever but it was good and will Satisfy you. 05/25/19

San Antonio is not known for pizza, but...

By Corinne R |

Ray's is a 'Ray's is a ray of Sunshine' in an otherwise barren pizza demographic. I am a New Englander and used to pizza being an 'experience'. It was nice to finally feel like I was as close to NYC as I could be here in TX. We ordered a large ricotta and spinach, added chicken and mushrooms and YUM! The cheeses were perfect, the mushrooms were real, and the crust, well....bellisimo! Needless to say, we will back to try another pie. There are 3 locations in San Antonio, just use Google!

Great pizza

By Lv2rdtrip |

So we came across Ray's by accident, the exterior doesn't look like much but we were hungry. Boy am I glad I did stop in, the pizza is wonderful! A lot of options, crisp and chewy crust with minimal grease. Simply delicious, don't let the outside fool you, this is a great place to eat good pizza!

Superb Pie! Love this place - Beer cold too...

By PrimalEater |

This place seems like a nice enough place from the outside - and then you go in and see what the deal really is - great pizza - and great beer that is cold and NOT overpriced. A wonderful neighborhood joint that treats people with respect and is glad to have you there spending your hard-earned money. I make a point of eating here when I am in SA - vs that Dough place - which is good too - just waay to pricey for a guy like me. Go here and get some!

Mixed feelings

By Tony9876 |

I had just had a better New York pizza in New York a few weeks earlier, so maybe that tainted my feeling of this place. The pizza was okay, and it was New York style, but the taste and texture was not quite as good as the great place I got pizza from in New York. Is it as wonderful as some other reviews suggest? Not for me. Is it good enough that I would visit here again? Probably.

Just lost a few good customers

By Storyteller197541 |

Lost my business today and in the future. If you have food allergies or members in your family do, turn around and dine elsewhere. Claim to be kid friendly, but would not modify a pizza due to allergies. Domino's gets our business from now on when it comes to pizza without the marinara sauce. Deeply diappointed at Rays behavior and attitude in regards to food allergies and a modification for olive oil and garlic instead of marinara sauce. I have been getting the pizza modified this way at least once a month since January, now all of the sudden attitude and disrespect.

Great Pizza, Great After School deals, Great locations and Great prices!

First of all I am reviewing the one on 17700 North 281& Loop 1604 Location. And second I noticed that kids eat free after 5 p.m. with the company of parents. I love pizza and Italian food and Ray's pizzeria is one of the best places so far, this location hasn't had their beer license yet but that doesn't stop me from going in, I believe you can bring your own Beer or wine to enjoy with your meal. The first thing I noticed once I walked in was The great smell of Herbs and spices and just simply breathtaking I wanted to inhale it all in! This location is for the Very Rich People who don't really think Going to the Pizzeria is very Worthy. But you know what not all of us are Rich and have Discriminating taste...Just because they think they are from a different class of life I am sorry but They are missing out on everything A Pizza should be, What You call New York style, Chicago-style or Italian style...it is to me The best pizza so far, I am not one with discriminating taste but I am one of the most pickiest eaters in San Antonio, If I don't like it, I will tell you how it is... Doesn't matter how many Beer's I have drank already, I would tell you the same thing even if I was sober, There's one thing I call the "Snooze You Lose" program...More for me! So wake up Your palate and eat some pizza!

Pizza and a salad!

By Rubén Z |

If you want fast pizza and a salad, or a sub with a salad- this is the pace to visit. The pizza is freshly out of the oven and the salad is just made. You choose your dressing of choice and your beverage and away you go! Nothing fancy - just fresh food with a few calories but all is out in the open. It is clean and airy!

What a great place for New York Pizza!

By Terry B |

I was in town on business and wanted a slice and found this gem. I wanted New York style pizza and found it at Ray's. It was after lunch and for a while I was the only customer. They had a special going with two slices and a drink. I figured I could do two slices so I ordered the pizza with sausage. A short time later the water brings my lunch and I couldn't believe the size of the slices. Holy Cow they were big. I stuffed myself and finished off both slices because they were so good. If I'm ever back in San Antonio, I will stop at Ray's Pizza for another slice!

Lemme Help Yah Unda-stand

Listen, I’m from New York and I know how hard it is to get “NY Style” pizza this far south. I’m happy to report this place was exactly what I was looking for. Very thin, crispy crust with an over abundance of cheese and less-overpowering robust pizza sauce. This place hit the spot! I was pleasantly surprised and you will be too! Yummm

Great lunch

By Honest R |

Now, don't walk in here on a first date expecting a fancy environment, but this is one great pizza joint for a quick, casual lunch (located in shopping center). Their lunch specials are super cheap! I ordered a #2 and it came with a one topping slice of pizza + salad + drink. Let me emphasize that their slices of pizza are LARGE and are N.Y. style. (I will post picture). It was very delicious, and fresh out of the oven. Cheese was perfect. The salad was also very good (had chickpeas and black olive slices on side which I thought was sort of different)(will post picture). Dressing comes on the side. Staff was friendly and restaurant was fairly crowded during lunch time. I went to Ray's website and it appears that there are two other Ray's Pizzaria's in the San Antonio area, and I'm sure they are equally as good. The interior of this Ray's had a sporty feel to it with a few flat screens on the wall and posters.

Pizza goodness!!

By Gilbert O |

If you like a crisp crust with fresh ingredients than Ray's is the pizza for you. We have tried the pizza, philly cheesesteak, chicken alfredo, and spaghetti and they were great menu items. The bread that comes with the alfredo has to many spices sprinkled on for my taste, but the pasta dish itself is awesome. Get a si gle alice for a lunch or a whole pie it's up to you. They are partnered with a gelatto supplier so you have an expanded dessert menu.

Tastes like NY

First this is a nice place with plenty of space and tv. Tables are kept clean and employees are welcoming. So far i've only tried the pizza and it reminds me of the east coast. The slices are thin and big. Try it out.

Really not MY style pizza

By rickgreenberg100 |

I went to Rays with a business associate assuming we were actually going to get MY style thin, crispy crust pizza. Not true! Crust was doughy and probably worst of all canned mushrooms!! In 2015 no decent pizza place that is not a low end chain would use CANNED MUSHROOMS!! Salad was fine no atmosphere, decent service. And I would say not the worst pizza...but either get fresh veggies or stop serving that on your pies. Nuff said....
