Healthy vibrant food

By melinda311 |

This restaurant is the mother lode of health food restaurants. I like it because it's centrally located, it's immaculately clean, the servers are sweet and accommodating, the food is always fresh. And rather than a menu filled with "fake chicken" or "fake beef ribs" instead it's all about radiantly healthy organic salads or inventive organic mexican dishes or indian dishes or tofu dishes. They have very specific daily and weekly specials, different greens and grains and you can also order whatever you want a la carte from the menu. My favorite is a big salad with crunchy tempeh bacon on top. They serve a drink called a teeccino that is the best hot (or cold) drink I've had in memory, it's made from grains but tastes like a divine milk shake without the evil stuff in it. You can get shots of wheatgrass but you can also get most other delicious juices you want. There's street parking and valet parking and they also have a second restaurant in Santa Monica. Really nice to know you can eat healthy food with artfulness, and not feel like you're eating hay. And they have home delivery as well.

Yummilicious

For your vegan or gluten free fix this place has it. Irs all vegan, & has plenty gluten free options as well. They also have a decadent chocolate fudge cake that is yummylicious. Michael was our server, he was the best. Will be back.

Vegan Food, Great Choices... and Milkshakes!

By Zoe S |

It's so exciting to be vegan and have TOO many choices. As soon as we saw "Penne Alfredo" we were sold-- something we haven't had since we were kids! The buffalo cauliflower was DELICIOUS and they obliged when we asked for more sauce. The Penne was great (tho I'd recommend without the Bak'n) and I can't wait to go back and try a Milkshake-- they have so many flavors!!

YES!

By Marla M |

Awesome to be able to go to a restaurant and know that everything on the menu is vegan. There is such a variety, there is something for everyone. Creative dishes, and hearty comfort food. I highly recommend it.

Always a great experience

We frequent both locations of RDF whenever we are in L.A and have never been let down. Delicious options and a good vibe. Will continue to return and introduce friends to it! Even my non-veg friends love it!

Vegan/Vegetarian Yumminess!

By Ray Q |

I could feast for days (or hours) here - they make great stuff that even a carnivore or omnivore would love. Tasty savory menu items and nice sweet treats too!

Wholesome & lots of it!

By Stu |

RFD on La Cienega is a great place to get stuffed! The food is so wholesome it'll fill any Veggie or Meaty person to the top! I love the Kale Caesar salad & the Chocolate Coconut Ice Cream shake, these two & I'm done! There's a good selection of sweets too. The Decor is a bit dated & the place itself has an old established feel about it as it's been here for years. There's an outside dinning area that gets very hot in the Summer, a place to sit & watch the traffic go by, Valet parking if desired.

You come for the food

By Kristos T |

This is really the mother of still functioning vegan places on LA . The menu is consistent some specials and they have happy hour this time around . never had an issue with food or taste .. Ok sometimes something just doesn't work with ones pallet but then again you could stay at home and feed the microwave.. It's all about trying things and getting an idea .. Either way good is good the deserts amazing I read about service being bad and I can agree to a certain point . Bad are usually the people who seem totally new , whereas the veterans are the friendliest and most caring .. That's especially why we come here regular when in town. In a city where good food is a plenty, service is the next most important factor to visit a restaurant or bar. As we say the sound makes the music it's important to be friendly as a guest. As well . The waiters are service not servant .

Need an interpreter to read the menu. Creative deserts.

Oranic Vegan Bliss!

The Hollywood WeHo location is very close to the Beverly center and Melrose Ave. So, perfect spot. It's obviously been around for 20 (!) years. The decor must have been updated a lot of times since it feels contemporary and up to date. The service is great and the food.. The food.. It's amazing. If you want to invite a non vegetarian/vegan friend to the kingdom of plant based foods, this is where to take them. I personally love the blackened Tempeh for protein. The salads are great and please try the almond bite desert. It's raw, soy and gluten free sweetened with agave.

plant-based whole foods dish and (kinda?) vegan junk dishes

By Komoda H |

I've been visiting here several times for only weekend brunch but they haven't changed the menu items very much since my first visit that was over two years ago. Frankly I'm getting bored because honestly, I can make most items at home easily. (I'm a super clean eater on a plant-based Whole Foods diet.) Since I've been following them on Instagram, I often find some seasonal dishes which I'd love to try, but all of them are available only for dinner or happy hour, not for weekend brunch or lunch. That's not cool for me. According to my past experiences, service is just OK, not very sufficient, interior decor is also ok, not impressive, bathroom is just fine or sometimes a little messy. I know a lot of plant-based whole foods influencers (or just "vegan people"?) come here and upload the pics on Instagram or video on YouTube, but for me, personally, unfortunately it's no longer an attractive place since I don't have a substantial dinner which means I can never ever try new seasonal dishes. If you want to have something healthy and clean food occasionally, it might be one of the nice choices here, but in that case, I recommend visiting "Cafe Gratitude", I'd say.

No meat but go to Meet people

Terrific vegan experience for vegans and non-vegans alike

By laminpa |

During my recent trip to LA, I had the opportunity to try a vegan restaurant for the first time. Two friends and I received a recommendation on this place and decided to try it. We were absolutely blown away by how good the food was. So much so that I also went back the next evening with another set of friends. The food was fresh, of course, and the flavors and combinations were wonderful. I particularly enjoyed Caribbean Quesadillas, the Sea Vegetables, and the Kimchi Maki Roll as the appetizer. The waitstaff was extremely helpful and were very patient as we asked our questions about the different things offered on the menu -- they even brought over a few samples for us to try. The menu is diverse and they have seasonal specials as well as daily specials. The entrees are large proportions. The restaurant is a bit pricey, but you're paying for organic, interestingly prepared foods. On both nights the restaurant was busy, but never felt too loud or distracting. Next time I'm in the area, I will definitely return.

Plant-based simplicity

By Mike_Adventure |

Delicious and fab assortment or plant-based fare with awesome variety. Loved the tortilla soup, street tacos, supreme burrito! Don't stop there, but leave room for the peanut butter chocolate pie for dessert and leave happy--and healthy. Server was terrific with great recommendations. Can't wait to go back again!

You Won't Believe You're Eating Gluten Free ...

By TravelingStevie |

Leave it to Los Angeles for having the best Gluten Free food in the world. Real Food Daily should be the Mecca for all of us who are challenged (or have chosen to avoid) gluten. Lots of options, great food ... and if you get there around the holidays ... the best restaurant turkey meal you will ever taste. Try the vegan/gluten-free tacos .... they will blow your mind ...

Nice but not extraordinary compared to the prize.

By HappyTacoRebel |

Nice place but a little bit over hyped. The ramen bowl tasted OK compared to the price but I'd recommend something else since it probably isn't their expertise.

Culinary Jewl

By Peymaneh R |

What a treat to eat at this plant based menu on an Italian variation. Chef Tara worked very hard to draw from her own family recipes to her own creations to come up with a Mediterranean variety. Her spice choices made her dishes taste authentic and more like traditional dairy and meat food. The heirloom tomato Caprese made without Mozzarella cheese yet looked and tasted like it had the authentic cheese was a delicious starter. Then came the Sicilian Red Lentil Soup which took me back to meals I've had in North Africa a long time ago. The entree that followed was Tuna melt with no meat whatsoever that was so tasty and flavorful that I disbelieved my own tastebuds. The photos attached will show how the meal continued with beautiful several entrees ending with chocolate cheese cake that was absolutely Devine. I highly recommend this restaurant regardless of your carnivorous tendencies.

I Love RFD

By TallulahMae732 |

Every time I am in CA I must go to RFD. The nachos, the desserts, the everything. It's always heaven. It's always amazing. We have the cookbook and everything I've made from it is a huge hit. The Walnut Lentil Pate recipe makes my friends crazy. This restaurant is incredible.

Fantastic vegan food

By Another-Londoner |

Upmarket dining with a fantastic choice of fresh, organic food - obviously very popular and I doubt if everyone there was vegan! This is veggie food as it should be, and a nice atmosphere and ambience to complete the experience. We enjoyed dinner so much that we also visited the Santa Monica branch for lunch - slightly less posh but the food was equally good. Highly recommended.

super salads for any kind of eater

By CG~ |

I'm not a vegan but my friends are so I've been here many times. I even took my carnivore husband here once. The meat-substitute dishes, I find tiresome ("Salisbury Seitan", etc) but their salads are fabulous and super-filling so it's a good place for when you're craving that. They also have some nice pastas including a mock scallop dish made with King Oyster mushrooms.

Best vegan restaurant...

By Jes27 |

I absolutely love this restaurant, I am a regular now, whenever I am in West Hollywood, I have to stop by to have some delicious vegna food. The food is not boring and simple. The specials are abundant and delicious! Desserts are unbelievable, even people who are not vegan are amazed at the desserts, they cant believe they are vegan. The atmosphere is very cool and the music is good too, they usually play classic rock. I recommend this restaurant 100%! Jes.

Vegan, but...

By computerprofessor |

First off, let me say I'm a carnivore. I like meat. My friends wanted to go here, so I went. Didn't expect much. But actually, was quite surprised. Enjoyed the meatless food, and the service was great. The place is busy, with a line outside. I had the wet burrito, and it was so big I couldn't finish it. We all had a great time. I plan on going back. And, yes, I'm still surprised at how good this "vegan" stuff is.

Nice Organic Vegetarian Restaruant

By clacdancer |

Great selection of food. The flavors are amazing. My favorite is the enchiladas and the desserts. Their Sunday brunch is great too. You do not have to be vegetarian or vegan to enjoy this place.

Vegan Heaven!

By Popple V |

After coming out of Las Vegas and into Hollywood, it was such a wonderful wonderful treat to head into this amazing restaurant! We were told by the Concierge at our hotel that no reservation was necessary - wrong-(that wasn't all that Concierge was wrong about, but that is a whole other story), but they were happy to accommodate my family and I outside, where, although it was a chilly Los Angeles night, the outdoor heater kept us comfortable. The food was out of this world good, but I think I would have thought that anyway, as I was fresh out of Las Vegas (Omnivore delight) and Anaheim before that, where I could not find even a millilitre of cow milk alternative anywhere, let alone a Vegan meal, so I was pretty hungry! We left with a bag full of takeout food for the next day, and every Vegan cookie they had left in the place! Highly recommended even if you are not a Vegan! Great Food! Great friendly service! A must attend on my next visit to LA, and I won’t even mention to the friends we are going with that it is Vegan, as I don’t think they will even be able to tell!

Great vegetarian food, and it's Kosher!

Real Food Daily has been around for decades, but somehow they keep their menu fresh and the food excellent. You can't go wrong here. It's not cheap (good vegetarian never is), but the quality is there. Very unpretentious atmosphere too.

Great Nachos!

By Jennifer L |

Last week my daughter and I went to RFD. I ordered the Club Sandwich and she had the Tuna. We decided to start with an order of Nachos. The nachos were delicious! They were so packed with yummy goodness that we had a hard time finding the chips. My suggestion would be to serve a small basket of plain chips with the nachos. We had way more toppings than chips. The extra chips would have been a great addition. By the time our sandwiches arrived, we were no longer hungry. My club sandwich was good. The tuna was good, but fairly spicy. Good food. Great nachos!

Tasty and wholesome vegan food

By endofcity |

I dropped into RFD for a quick lunch en route to LAX. I arrived early, so there were no issues getting a table. Service was friendly and pleasant. There's an excellent range of food options on the menu, so you're sure to find something to your liking. I had the Great Cardini salad and a small soup - Both were very good and certainly very satisfying. I'm scored 4/5 because it was quite expensive. $16 for the salad and $6 for a small soup (plus taxes and service) made this quite an expensive lunch. However, I'm happy to recommend Real Food Daily.

Big menu - I wanted to try everything!!!

By RandRCalifornia |

Plant based, nice atmosphere and delicious!!! My only negative is that it is rather pricey - burgers $16, a smoothie $10, cafe latte $6.......... Other than that we could not decide what to order, everything looked so good as it came out to the tables nearby. We opted for a breakfast burrito in a bowl - very good, a little spicy and a large portion too. The blueberry pancakes - REALLY good. I haven't had pancakes in forever so these really hit the spot, light and fluffy and full of blueberries. The cafe latte was a bit strong for me but I'm sure coffee lovers appreciate that. Everything tasted great and it was all vegan! I think non-vegans would also enjoy this food and maybe not even miss the meat! Can't wait to go back and try more things :)

Great vegan food!

By Katie1314 |

The menu is incredible and I could be happy here for months based on the food. We happened to have slow service, which was frustrating and took away from the experience. I have the owners cookbook and every recipe I've tried has been a winner. I'm anxious to try the other locations as this particular location was not conveniently located off the freeway or close to other things I'd be interested in seeing.

Real Food, LA

By ARIK K |

PB&J, mac and cheese, southern cornbread, peach pie... I didn't think I'd enjoy healthy living, but I can do this everyday. Locally sourced, seasonal menu of ever changing fresh, natural foods. If McDoanld's had a polar opposite, this would be it. Skinny girls wait on you between auditions. Draws big name celebs and their entourages.

Excellent vegan restaurant

By sweetlorraine72 |

Always a good choice if you want a vegan fine dining experience. I particularly love their brunch, pancakes, french toast and savory dishes as well. Their baked goods are excellent too.

Great little vegan restaurant

By Sharon A |

This was on our list of places to visit and we were not disappointed, just round the corner from the Beverley Centre. We both had a salad with some homemade lemonade, then we tried some of the ice cream they also make on the premises. Presentation excellent and all the food was very tasty, not to be missed.

Lovely

By roby m |

The service and recommendations were amazing. The food delicious ans the prices reasonable. Definitley going back!

It's ok

By Rebecca J |

Typical posh looking but mildly pricey vegan affair. Average food for an average price, a wide variety but the usual stuff

Hmm not for me!

By princessboo |

I tried this restaurant because it came highly recommended and I generally like veggie food but this stuff was a bit extreme for me. I was slightly shocked at some of the pseudo-science being touted as fact to the customers but thought I'd give it a go. I ordered the asian kelp noodles and a green smoothie but I was very disappointed by the sour flavour of the sauce and the cold, lump of soggy noodles it came with. The portions were a bit miserly but the price WAS cheap. I personally did not like it at all, from the hard wooden benches to the strange, glazed cult like speeches given to each customer about the benefits of the food. The food was unpleasant but it was cheap and did look very clean.

Delicious!

By mgluskin |

I love RFD. During the weekday, just before lunch rush, there's always tables available. The parking is a little precarious, but that's LA for ya. They always Lee their patio warm, so even if they only have outdoor seating available in their busy days, you'll still be content! Great food, and decent prices for it. Enjoy!

Wonderful vegan great place !

By CoBa80 |

I was absolutely amazed about the high variety and quality of the food. It is not typical vegan looking...looks like a regular restaurant - the food is excellent. I tried the pizza and it was just delicious. The desserts looked all just great and tasty ! Good value and nice atomsphere. Highly recommended for vegans, vegetarians and non-vegans !

Sooo tasty

By Ashm84 |

I visited recently for dinner and was really impressed with the food. I had tried to order a meal with Impossible meat but it was out of stock (the same happened a couple of days later...). I had the Comfort Bowl which was amazing, and as a side note a friend of mine ordered the Tater Tots which was shockingly good!

If vegan & visiting LA, Avoid Real Food Daily like the bubonic plague!!

By Rob R |

As much as I love the food at RFD, I will NEVER eat there again. Over the years, I've had nothing but problems with them and tonight was no different. Same issue with Eat24, which is also losing my business forever, as of tonight. First problem I had was I ordered at 5 PM and by 7 PM I'm calling the restaurant to find out where it is. They tell me it's ready but Eat24 hasn't picked it up. Definitely got a hint of an "it's not our fault" attitude over the phone, but whatever... yeah this isn't really their fault. Called Eat 24. They canceled my order and told me to reorder, which like an idiot, I did. It's 45 minutes later and not only has my food not left the restaurant yet (again, not their fault) but I got an update saying that something that they DID have when I first ordered, they no longer have. No phone call. No message saying they ran out and would I like anything in its place. Nope. Just cancel the item and too bad for me! Called the restaurant myself to see if I could get anything in its place and girl tells me I should have used Postmates instead cuz they allow her to add on an item, while Eat24 doesn't. So, now apparently, all this is somehow my fault? Wow! Just wow! I don't know why I'm surprised though. My experience with staff at RFD has always been standoffish and at times, even rude. In fact, when you enter the place, this is actually the vibe you get when you walk in. And when someone finally does approach you, it comes across as either forced or fake or, in some cases, they don't even bother to try to hide their distain for you. It's 10x worse on the phone, as was evidenced by my experience tonight. As a vegan with limited options for restaurants in my area, it saddens me that I will never be able to eat here again - not after the way they have repeatedly treated me and everyone I've ever brought there with me. Yeah, the food is good, but here's the thing - it's super expensive for what you get and if they can't even manage the most basic concepts of service (like smiling, or picking up the phone when they're out of something), then you have to ask yourself if its really worth it. I guess it's Veggie Grill for me from now on. Sighhhh....

Healthy but not so yummy

By Sarah E |

My family and I visited the Santa Monica branch earlier this year. We were still following our New Years resolutions to eat healthy and decided to give this place a try. The food is ok, the portions small and the prices not so small. The service is also not too great. It is mostly frequented by skinny women who pick at their food or the picky,6die hard vegans. The best thing about this place is the bakery. They make mean croissants and bread.

Great spot

By brigid_bliss |

Went to a show at the Largo and came here for dinner beforehand. Very busy but great spot, fabulous food. Love that they always have sea veggies, which aren't that common!

Picked up food for vegan kids

By badbaruch57 |

Kids 20-22-24,liked. Ordered seaside fries - club and basic 5. We called the order in and in 10 min picked up. Very good stuff

Will be back - didn’t get to taste too much

By traveldreams06 |

I got a veggie burger from here which was quite good, on a millet-chia gluten free bun no less! I didn’t visit multiple times so the only reason I am not raving in this review is I didn’t sample very much on the menu. However I loved this burger and also the service. I could order online through chownow - everything was ready when I arrived and they were super careful on gluten options . I will be back!

Great food, but service was very bad!

By rotterdamerik |

We had lunch here and chose the Charlie melt and the other one the Charlie raw wrap. With this we had two organic juices with extra turmeric root in it. The quality was very good. I liked the tastes and it was spiced really well. The food was super! The service was very bad. It all took very long and there was total chaos inside. I hope this was only today, but it was my first visit so I can't compare it to other days.

Love it.

By giulia.m3107 |

We've been there two times in 5 days. As vegans and vegetarians we really appreciated it. Options are really creative and tasty! We tried different things, we definitely love the restaurant and i would recomment it!

This carnivore actually liked it

By Trishyco |

Came here with my vegetarian friend because it was down the street from Largo. I was not sure what I could get off the menu but went with the crab cakes (sans crab of course). They were soooo delicious I forgot to share. Oops! I had to try the desserts and ordered the peanut butter pie. Again. Wow. Great service and nice staff.

Consistantly Good for Years

By robert g |

We only go for the brunch so I can't vouch for the entire menu. Menu will have something for everyone...adults and kiddos. Blueberry pancakes are delicious as are all of the smoothies. Top notch service at fair prices. Don't let the vegan thing deter you.

Large Portions of Delish Food

By Mindi B |

Gotta try RFD if you are hungry and want to be nourished with a satisfying plant based meal. My daughter had a huge piece of lasagna and I enjoyed the Kung Poa. Both were amazing!

Brilliant.

By dartogreen |

My partner wasn't keen on a vegan food experience, but they won both of us over in no time at all with their fun and extensive menu and the food quality. The tofu cheesecake was one of the nicest cheesecakes I've ever eaten. Going to buy the cookbook!

great vegan options

By DaphneLosAngeles |

I eat here regularly. The burger with the works and the pizza got to eat ya are both great. The desserts are also amazing considering they are vegan. The Faustess cupcake is great as if the gluten free cupcake (the flavor changes week to week).

One of my faves in LA

By spocksf |

I eat at RFD every time I am in LA. The food has been very consistent over the last several years that I've been going. You can always count on having a great meal there and the menu has a lot of intriguing options. The service is wonderful, not pretentious or overwrought. Regardless of how you eat, you should give this place a try.

Vegan-nanimouos!!!!

By CaliGirl405 |

OMG! I had to make up a word for the feeling of plant-based, healthy food with a gourmet style. The meals are vegan-nanimous. I had their burger creation. It has a hit of spice and well-blended grains. Treat yourself in West Hollywood. Healthy tastes good on you!

Organic plant based cuisine

By David S |

After a big night in Hollywood, nutrients were the call of the day. Thankfully my wife knew that big celebs like Beyoncé frequent this quaint spot. Once we found the restaurant we sat on the patio enjoying the California sun and constant stream of people. The menu is all very healthy, and has no bad products in any of their from scratch meals. Personally, the milkshakes are worth the trip alone, I has a south west salad, that surprised me in size easily could have fed both of us. My wife had vegan nachos and a vegan clubhouse with avocado, with a smoothie that I shared in between gulps of my non-dairy strawberry shake. We left full, and rejuvenated and ready to get back into the sun and holiday revellery. High calibre of high quality dishes, make this an automatic when we are next in West Hollywood. Plus the stars really do know a thing or two about good places and they do dine here.

Especially love the brunch

By Tamara L |

So much to love about this place - the club sandwich is a favorite, the desserts are amazing, the fresh juices are yummy. But I think the brunch is the best part - I've been back many times for it.

Amazing, satisfying vegan food

By Richelle33 |

So delicious, order anything on the menu and you can't go wrong. The hemp milk shakes are the best I've ever had, the deserts looked great too but I was too full from the main meal to try any. Incredibly good value for money, tasty, healthy food. Try this at least once.

Even us non-vegans were impressed!

By MarkLONDONUK58 |

I stopped by with my daughters, after having arrived earlier from Copenhagen, hungry and badly jet lagged. We chose the place because it was close to the Sofitel Hotel, where we're staying. Although non vegan, we fancied something nutritious and organic. My 16 year old daughter and I had the Pacifico Salad with smoothies (I highly recommend the Green blast), and my younger 11 year old had Satai Fingers. All of us enjoyed the wonderful flavor combinations served with friendly service. The place is obviously popular with locals, given how full it was. We're coming back, especially for the brunch!

Great spot for everyone!

By DavidCerda |

I'm not vegan, and the first time I came here I was worried I wouldn't enjoy it. However, everything from the atmosphere to the food was great. This has been my feel good spot for a few years now, and would recommend this to anyone, vegan or not. The Not-chos, a classic, don't even ask how they make such an amazing thing. They have salads that have a depth of taste. My favorite is ordering from the basics. You can pick from a variety of veggies, beans, grains and proteins and really mix and match what you feel like. The sauces they have will keep you coming back, wanting to try different things and experimenting at this hot spot.

"Best Flavors"

By gina Shakti |

Popped in here for lunch, and was Happily enjoying my Brussel sprouts, forbidden rice, & cauliflower mash. Called "essence" I think. My husband had the lentil Vegi-burger which is very tasty w/jalapeño! The parking is right off the street with meters. Easy to pop In & out, I'll be back.

One of the best vegan spots in L.A

Can't fault this place. It was the first meal I had in L.A and it didn't disappoint. I had the quesadillas and they were delicious. They have a huge menu to choose from and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Real Food Daily Nothing Special Here

By love2skiLosAngeles |

Having enjoyed vegetarian restaurants in the past, we thought we would try this one for dinner. The restaurant was fairly crowded but we got a table by the window and eventually ordered the Living Wrap and a El Bandito Rojo. The food took what seemed like a very long time to arrive. In the interim we ordered a glass of Malbec which was recommended by our waiter. It must have been mishandled or exposed to high temperature because the wine was just awful. THe Bandito finally arrived and it was made with cold tortillas around a fairly good filling. If only they had warmed the dish up a bit, it could have been fairly good. The Live wrap had a nice filling but it was wrapped in raw Swiss Chard which was a big mistake. The right chef could have made this a good dinner but the way it was prepared and served was average at best. This restaurant, its food and its staff are just not interesting at all. To top it off, the valet parking has only one attendant who drives like a maniac when you can find him. Dinner was a real disappointment and we will not be back.

Back 3 times in one weekend - Vegan Paradise Found

By Kvetchmeister |

We certainly weren't expecting a whole lot when we decided to try RFD in Santa Monica. But it was so good we had to try the other location once we arrived in West Hollywood. All I can say is I hope it catches on and spreads across the country because we need one in Denver! I admit we were a little distracted by Woody Harrelson and his party at the next table when we had the first meal. I had an RFD burger with the works and a Chocolate Hemp Milkshake[in honor of the Woody sighting!] the first night. It is amazing how they can actually make seitan bacon ( which they make and smoke themselves) taste exactly, I mean the same crunch, same flavor and texture and everything as the meat version that I'm used to. With a place as inspired as RFD, there is no suffering for lack of delicious choices. If you go for brunch - they open at 10AM - don't miss the Sea Cake Benedict! What a treat! The waffles were very good as well. From soups to wraps to burgers it was all amazingly delicious and memorable. The only dish I didn't find totally awesome was some kind of sushi plate. The service at both locations was very good with the La Cienega location feeling a bit more clean, comfortable and spread out on one level. The Santa Monica location has a loft eating section and it was kind of hot up there.

Foreign to Carnivores such as myself

First time trying vegan food and I really didn’t like it. However, my sister who is a vegetarian say it was delightful so I guess it’s perhaps vegan food is an acquired taste. Not gonna lie, my craving for meat skyrocketed after the meal.

Amazing Vegan Food!

By Liz R |

We got there pretty much right when they opened and we were the first customers of the day. We ordered a ton of food and all of it was amazing. We go the Not-Chos for an appetizer. It was a huge plate, the cashew cheese sauce had a nice flavor and there was a good amount of guacamole on them too. Def some of the best vegan nachos I ever had. For lunch I got a supreme burrito and my husband got harvest quesadillas. For dessert we had a brownie bowl with peanut butter ice cream. It was so good. We were so stuffed by the time we left, but it was well worth it since we don't have any good vegan restaurants where I live

Never thought I'd like vegan food!

By jays165 |

I was skeptical, but a friend who was local took me here and said it was great. Now I believe him! The vegan Mexican dish I tried tasted exactly like the real thing but with better flavor! Dessert was quite great too. Really everything was wonderful! Server was friendly. Long menu with lots of choices!

Never disappoints!

By JenniferNYC74 |

Simply said, Real Food Daily never disappoints. This may be because it is actual Real high Quality food. Mostly organic and always vegan, RFD serves up semi-gourmet meals and desserts. I always go for The Club triple decker sandwich and chocolate pudding. My better half usually goes for the Basic Three of veggie, rice and tofu (although there are many options to mix in max in the Basic bowls). The Faux-stess cupcakes are pretty good too, if you are in the mood for a heavier dessert. Vegans can't go wrong here- breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert- you are bound to find something delicious, healthy, super fresh and animal free. If you aren't a vegan, this is the perfect place to start out. RFD proves once and for all, that you can eat tasty and well without any cruelty on your plate.

Fantastic vegan food

By EmanneercsAllowed |

We are all vegans, and had visited RFD in WeHo on a prior trip. So many tantalizing options -- hard to choose -- but all the dishes were ordered were good, fresh and flavorful. Prices are a bit on the high side, but for the WeHo area, not out of line. Friendly, attentive service. If you're staying in WeHo, it's a great place to stop for lunch.

Good Food!

By Shavasti |

My only negative would be the lack of 'wheat free' items on the menu, we had to ask for wheat free items specifically. Otherwise the food is good, tasty, portions are generous, tastes are wonderful and the wait staff friendly, but could have been a touch more attentive, scanning to to see if someone wants them instead of looking at the floor when they walk. Having said that, I'll be back. Not totally vegetarian myself, but love a good vegetarian meal.

Outstanding opinions for Vegetarians

This a very nice restaurant for Vegans and Vegetarians, all the preparations are very nice and lot soup, salad and main course opinions available.

One of my favorite veggie restaurants!

By Amy W |

I love RFD. Amazing vegan food...favorites include the Not-Chos, BLT, Caesar salad, and mashed potatoes/gravy. I have been coming here for years when visiting LA. Always delicious. My only complaint, and I guess it could be considered a comment/suggestion or just plain begging...please bring back the TV Dinner. It is missed. ;) Love the food, love the cookbooks!

Awesome!

By Simona P |

Tasty, healthy, abundant food and drinks, all made with fresh fruits and veggies. Nice service and cool people. Love it!

Real enjoyment of a really satisfying meal

By Wheresthelobster |

I eat here regularly on my business trips to Hollywood and I can always count on a creative, delicious meal. I like that I can have a glass of wine or beer with dinner, if I'm in the mood. And the seasonally changing menu means there's always something new to enjoy every few months. It's such a pleasure to have a meal that makes me feel better for the eating of it.

Tasty organic vegetarian & vegan menu!!

By Julie E |

I have been dining here for years, since it opened in Santa Monica many moons ago. The owner, Ann Gentry, is brilliant and her menus have always been incredibly delicious and thoughtful. My favorite "go-to" menu item is the Sea Cake. I could eat that everyday!! But there is so much to choose from there, everyone can easily be satisfied!

I always eat here

By starigo |

LA has many restaurants to choose from but I always return here because I always leave happy. My husband is not a vegan but loves to eat here. He is amazed that he doesnt leave hungry as most non vegan assume. Now he always suggest to go there when were in LA. If your new to town this is also a place to see occasional movie stars.

Solid lunch choice

By Adam L |

Buffalo cauliflower was excellent, but be warned that it's spicy if that's not your type of thing. Salad dressing was very good. We tried the tortilla soup, which was the soup of the day, and it was very good. We would definitely return.

Love my RFD

By Bella L |

I go to RFD every time I'm in Los Angeles. It's one of my favorite places to eat. My father accompanied me and some friends for my birthday, he's your typical truck driving, meat and potatoes kind of guy. I asked him how it was, his response, "It's not meat, but I will come back." From the cashew cheese to the not-meat meat, the tac-o-the town and the club sandwich are my favorites. Tasty, and filling. This service is great, and the menu changes every time I'm in LA it's always nice to have a little surprise.

Great Quality, Excellent Food

By Elliot H |

The exterior belies the quality of the food and the attentive, knowledgeable service. This is enjoyable, tasty vegan food of an excellent quality. I would definitely eat there again.

Imitation food - not authentic

By SeltzerGuy |

There was nothing I could eat! I couln’t even get cream for my coffee. I asked the waitress what she ate at the restaurant. She came up with mashed potatoes.

Amazing food and super friendly service

By Essog |

Every time I visit L.A. I always make a point of going to Real Food Daily. All the food is so good I have a hard time choosing what I want. The Club sandwich is amazing, as are the Notchos. On my latest visit, I took a bunch of non vegan friends and they were so impressed we went again the next day. Because it's so good, it's usually pretty busy, but it's worth the wait.

Large group - very interesting

By Bill K |

We had many of the items on the menu. The "Charlie" was my favorite. The cherries pistachio was my favorite desert. This is a very good vegan restaurant. Keep an open mind if you are a carnivore. Very tasty. Recommended.

Even non-vegans will love this place

By Aviva Vaughn, author |

You can tell the quality of a vegan restaurant by how many non-vegans eat there, and RFD is so good, that it attracts everyone. Whether you want a vegan version of comfort food, or something that is just truly healthy (like their macrobiotic basic bowls), they've got it. And be sure to save room for dessert, my favorite is their "faux-stess cupcake." My favorite dish of theirs is their Reuben sandwich with a side of mashed potatoes, EXTRA gravy. The rye bread is delightfully rye-y and the saurkraut is bright and crunchy. When it's in season, their coconut quesadilla is wonderful. The southwest wrap is also very good. I do miss their yin-yang salad (a peanut "salad" that was amazing), and I'm grateful that I have the RFD cookbook, because their lentil-walnut pate was also a fave. Wishing you love and romance, Aviva Vaughn author of slow burn women's fiction inspired by food, travel, and Jane Austen.

SO ambivalant!!! Food is delicious !

By Mgitsme |

We are a family that has evolved over the years to enjoying vegan selections with our daughter. So that being said let me say that the food was simply FANTASTIC! Wwe were experiencing some big time jet lag. This food was like having your tummy tuck into bed all safe and comfy. I can not stress enough the service and food was wonderful. When I look at how all over the place the reviews are, I must try to explain from my viewpoint . The atmosphere is just not in any way tranquil . It's almost like eating in a cardboard box. Dull. The venue is small and loud. For 3 people the diner bill was about $80. You simply expect a different atmosphere once you start spending that level of money. However, I have eaten at several other places that were more food then decor and it really didn't bother me.The quality of the food was so superior that its hard to say why the atmosphere is so negative. On the other hand, I'd much rather eat here and spend $80 and have one of the best meals, then dine in beauty and have one of the worse! AND THE DESSERTS ARE FANTASTIC ! . I had the burger. It had AA southwest twist that was fantastic. My husband had the "bowl". It's was just perfect. The portions are generous. That's really all I can offer. Enjoy!

Good veggie restaurant

By Gail F |

Go there as much as possible when I am in LA. They make a good veggie burger, as well as salads and veggie bowls. Very good smoothies. Good wine selection.

delicious food

I met me friend here for dinner and I loved the food. I am not a vegan so this says a lot. Everything was fresh and the wait staff was very nice

Glad it exists

Our first time here (Friday) was vastly better than our second (Monday). I liked the food a lot but somehow the Caesar salad and the cinnamon roll left so much taste and pleasure to be desired. It's good to check out, but if I lived in LA this wouldn't be my go-to place.

Ups and downs

By slizzie |

Overall, the food was well-prepared and delicious. However, the food on the children's menu was not good; we ordered the pizza and a pasta dish. Also, the signature chocolate raspberry dessert was very poor. One raspberry on top and it seemed stale. Will try again, though.

Always a Wonderful Healthy WeHo Staple with a Smile

By globaltravelkid |

At all hours this place is busy! Unique Points: inside/outside dining, even without a ressie you can get a table; great wine list; everything may be healthy and recognizable, but at some point things get weird when many things are just fake: the gravy, the cheese, the bacon, the meatloaf, the steak Low Points: a wonderful server Genesis disappeared inside for great periods of time leaving us stranded with dog on the porch; street people; we got two items of everything we ordered, though not our fault High Points: every. single. dish. The Big 3s: Food: excelelnt Atmosphere: street people wandering in front of restaurant waiting for extra food Service: sporadic and disappearing

A revelation -- who knew...

By Curtis B |

A revelation -- who knew vegan and raw could be so darned tasty and satisfying?

For Vegan food this restaurant has a wonderful variety of flavour and choices.

By mybesttips |

We visited this restaurant twice. Once with friends for desserts and the 2nd time with my teen daughter for a meal. We both loved everything we ordered. The food was fresh, tasty and interesting! The service was great, helpful and friendly, even though, both times they were busy. They have many gluten free options as well. THE CLUB TRIPLE DECKER SANDWICH was so yummy I can still remember it! Here's what's in it:Seitan, tempeh bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, vegenaise, sourdough bread for 13.75. It is huge too! We had a big salad too. I can't remember which one I had, I just remember that I really liked it alot! If you like tempeh, seitan or cashew cheese, you will love some of their options. One of the desserts we tried and really liked was the Gluten Free Double Layer Chocolate Cake with fresh rasberries. You must know that I used to baked desserts for a living and so I have very high standards! The couple next to us were for LA and they were celebrating a special evening out and said it was one of their favorite places even though her husband wasn't vegan.

I wish this place was a little cheaper, then I might be going here more often. They serve vegetarian (mainly vegan) dishes-creative and very delicious. They use locally grown produce and are very GREEN, so you can also eat with a clear conscience. I like that.

Great food, Irregular Hours

By Auset E |

Their food is great but they close early all the time. Tried to place an order for pickup today at 8:45 and was told their kitchen was closed. Same thing happened last week at 8:35. It doesn't hurt to finish out the shift and stay and extra 10 mins especially if those are the hours you have posted.

Favorite restaurant

By LauraK |

I have loved this place for years, it has reliably good food, vegan and flavorful. My last visit, a week and a half ago I has something a bit disappointing, which was the plantain pizza (you might say, what do you expect?) But the normal stuff I get, grilled tofu, the real food daily salad (kind of a hearty salad with a Cesar like dressing), the burger, and I just had brunch there two weeks ago, that was all delicious. My favorite LA restaurant.

Awesome food!

Went for breakfast and had a wonderful meal. I ate the Weekender which was tasty. We had brunch with champagne.

Nice casual place to visit with friends

Best Vegan Restaurant in Town

By Neener415 |

Real food daily delivers on all culinary levels! Catering to the vegetarian pallet is not an easy task. I myself am not a vegetarian but really enjoy the flavors and options at Real food Daily as a healthy alternative to my diet. Everything on the menu is delicious with bold flavors, spices and scents that will tease your taste buds. My favorite dish is the burrito but I add the taco mix for more protein. Their soups are fantastic and their home made tempeh bacon is top notch! Can't say enough good things about this place!!! If you are in Santa Monica you can try that location too. Both places offer the same menu and have terrific wait staff!

Brunch!

By bdsbjmin |

Vegan food that is delicious, thoughtful and aesthetic! We went for Sunday brunch and had no wait. Great food, great service, and good value. Be aware that even on Sunday the parking meters need fed or risk a $58 ticket. We parked and were going to pay, when a local said we didn't need to pay on Sunday. So we didn't and sure enough the ticket was there when we returned.........

Friendly, vegetarian, reasonably priced

By lgoldman |

We were recently in LA to visit family and since we are there often we feel less like tourists but constantly search for new places to try. It was a great, casual dining experience. The menu offered a lot of choices and we were all close enough family to sample each other's dishes and we were very impressed. There are only so many things one can do with tofu but we found out there are more things one can do with tofu. There are a number of Mexican, Indian, Italian and Asian themes to choose from as well as good old American "fake" bacon lettuce and tomato sandwiches and macaroni and cheese. The service is very efficient and staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and sensitive to everyone's likes and dislikes. Sampled some of the latest, local micro brew offerings that also did not disappoint. We were not there to mix and mingle with the stars but 2 tables away sat Kevin ("not fake") Bacon and Kyra Sedgewick, Josh Groban and an otherwise eclectic mix of families with kids, couples, friends and by the way it's also kosher. Try this place and you will be more than satisfied!

CLEARLY STANDS OUT AS EXCELLENT VEGE RESTAURANT

By srimanone |

This is by far one of the best vege restaurants in so-cal. the service was excellent, and the food came out hot and tasty. the fresh juices were foamy and yummy.lots of noise from the eaters, but we had a great time at our table. worthwhile going and will return

Best healthy meal on the westside

By Daniel B |

Hands down best health meal I've had...foodie and was forced to go with a vegan friend, and I'll be back on my own for sure! Kung pao and real food meal are no-brainers.

Great lite cuisine

By jonesieinhavana |

This place has grown on me. It would always be the suggestion of a pretty girl I was taking to lunch or dinner. Gradually, I found myself there getting a bite alone because of the strength of the menu.

Yum!

By Jan R |

Interesting place even for an omnivore to eat. The presentation of every dish was amazing. Everyone loved their food. Definitely a must try.

Best vegan gravy

By Soniab13 |

RFD never disappoints. On this visit I defaulted to the "TV dinner" if only so I could have oodles of gravy. It was crowded but the service was great.

Bring back the old menu

By renemulligan |

The original Real Food Daily was amazing The food was awesome, I couldn't believe how they made regular comfort food classics like Salisbury Steak and Fettucine Alfredo taste delicious even as healthy vegan cuisine. However they went all fancy LA on us and added a bunch of strange dishes that myself nor any of my friends like. The four stars is for the original menu and I hope they bring it back one day.

They sensed I needed cheering up and they they delivered

By Judy S |

I had the strangest experience ever at a restaurant tonight. It was a place about 3 doors down from RFD. They filled up quickly with customers, but I thought since I had arrived amongst the first 6 tables it would be fine. Well, the wait staff completely ignored us, like we were sitting in a invisibility cloaked section. I asked the Maitre D about 3 times if we could please order. Each time he said he's send the waiter right over. Each time the waiter came out, took someone else's order and then disappeared. I was getting so frustrated I asked the owner what I needed to do to be waited on. He passed the buck on to the MD again and I said I'd already tried that. The MD then said "maybe you should just leave." My jaw dropped. So we did. Luckily Real Food Daily was welcoming and took great care of us. And bonus the food was astonishing. We tried each of their soups and I ended up craving the recipe. It was delicious. And I had the Mediterranean Salad which was mind blowing. So, I thank the original restaurant for being so rude.

Vegan even a meat lover can enjoy

Something to please everyone's tastes. I had the Lasagne there a couple of times and the sauce was flavorful and not heavy and I did not miss the meat at all. Service is friendly and food is fresh and tasty. I think will always be a good choice
