Very good two course choice at lunchtime, pleasant service and food good size portions and very tasty. Drinks quite expensive at 6dollars for a bottle of chinese beer.

Greatest Asian around williamsburg

By Carolina M |

If you consider money, this is one of the best restaurants around there. I ordered a shrimp with oyster sauce, the plate was huge and the flavour was perfect. Definitely would come back,

In NYC? Visit Williamsburg and eat here

By Robert D |

Williamsburg is what Greenwich Village used to be. Walk over the Brooklyn Bridge to DUMBO (Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass and look around, then catch a cab to Bedford St in Williamsburg. Or take the Water Taxi to W'burg. Red Bowl is highly rated by Zagat. Two people ordered four shared dishes for $38 and the food was outstanding. I told the very friendly server that this was better than Manhattan's Chinatown, and he mentioned they were from Hong Kong. You can't go wrong here. $6 beers is also reasonable.

Amazing Food

By John Daniels |

Red Bowl has some of the best food I have ever had, period. My friend and I split the chicken curry and Mongolia beef. The curry was so flavorful and delicious, with the right amount of spice. I wanted more and more of this. The Mongolia beef was so savory and amazing. I also wanted a second bowl of this. Great food, cute little restaurant, and extremely friendly staff.

very friendly

This guy, seems to be owner, came from the back of the restaurant and invite us to seat, with a very polite maner, and the food is beautyful and taste, fast as well. Not pricey!

This is a great place, food is Reasonably priced for a good size meal. The spicy steak salad was Delicious. The staff is really nice and loves to chat!

DISGUSTING FOOD - NOT HEALTHY - It seems food warmed up with a microwave - DO NOT GO!

By Mat Greco |

Food in this restaurant is simply disgusting! It is definitely the worst chinese food I have ever had in my entire life. DO NOT ORDER FOOD IN THIS RESTAURANT - UNLESS YOU WANNA FEEL SICK. I ordered Seafood Pan-Fried Noodle and Spring Rolls. The Noodles were overcooked and the seafood was so disgusting that I thought it was probably cooked with a micro-wave. The spring rolls were way too fried, way to small for the price. Overall it seems pre-made food warmed up with a microwave. DISGUSTING.

Great place to go... The manager is cool, the food is great... I had the sizzling steak in pepper sauce. Also the green forest cake was one of the best I ever had.

Unique Asian Cuisine

By Pamipoo7777 |

The food here was so good! I recently traveled to Beijing, China and this is the closest I have found to authentic Chinese cuisine. The service was exceptional and quick. It's a must visit in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, NY.

I like the Chinese Sausage Fried Rice

I like the Chinese Sausage Fried Rice

Good Food!

By Travelingxgf |

We've had the chicken lo mein for the kids (very delicious), hubby had the shrimp fried rice (also delicious) and I had the shrimp with garlic sauce (this was good) and we also had the egg drop soup, which the kids loved. Great location on Bedford right of the L train. Good to sit and eat or take out. Would definitely order again.

Quicker delivery

our first stop in Williamsburg

By MokkaJ |

This was a first restaurant we encountered after a flight to NYC and we were really hungry. We got table easily and also we got our food really fast. I took beef and my wife took chicken. Beef had a appreciable hotness in it but it came in a sneaking way. Can't really say nothing was bad here.

A good place on bedford ave !

By fbssn |

During a trip in NYC, we went to this restaurant by chance and it was a really good surprise. Excellent chinese tapas and good service !

Nice people, basic classic Chinese where you can sit and have a nice meal on Bedford Ave.

By Nathalie H |

Easy place to stop in and have decent Chinese food, sit down and watch the people go by. Inexpensive lunch special. You will find all the classics. The table service is very attentive and friendly. No pressure and your water glass will stay full. You will find classics like shrimp in lobster sauce, chicken and broccoli... I find the chefs pallet to be a bit on the sweet side, which is not my preference so I avoid the fried duck sauce type of entrees. Nice decor, smallish restaurant right in the heart of Williamsburg. Usually not full. They have take out too. Hot and Sour soup is usually good. I would give the decor and service a high grade but the food is so basic classic that I had to give it an average, yet I do eat here often because it is a pleasant quick experience. Appropriate red interior and full bar. Special particularly enjoyable and a good value.

Great take out!

Ordered take out twice - A1. Fast delivery, great food!

My Favorite Asian Cuisine in Williamsburg

By BobMinchak |

This isn't your average Chinese restaurant, and Brooklyn has tons of Chinese Restaurants. The food is real, real good. The atmosphere is chic. The owners are off the hook wonderful, something you don't find at a lot of Chinese restaurants. The service is great too. I felt more like I was at the center of a big party than our for a bite of Chinese food. Ground zero for a great Asian cuisine experience this side of the world.

Perfect little spot off the L Train

By Christina P |

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this little red place. All decorated for Chinese New Year, we were warmly greeted and seated. The staff was excellent all evening and we never wanted for anything. We ordered sesame chicken, pad thai noodle soup, mei fun, and udon noodle soup. All were excellent and we were all debating whose dish was the best by swapping bites across the table. All in all food was excellent, price was reasonable, and service was excellent.

Great find in Williamsburg !

By Larry K |

Went to NY for a visit. I was told that Brooklyn was a new happening place. So being a Bklyn boy I went. I got hungry walking around and craved some good Chinese Asian that I can't find in Florida. So I took a shot and stopped in. What a great surprise. Everything I ordered was wonderful! Flavorful , nice portion, great service, nice small restaurant atmosphere. I asked the owner if he would come to florida? I can't wait to visit NY again to go and get the Orange Beef and double cooked pork.

Best upscale Chinese cuisine in Williamsburg!

By Alina K |

Guys, if you're in Brooklyn definitely check out Red Bowl restaurant! I've been fortunate enough to eat here many times and it never disappoints. Located in a lively and happening part of Brooklyn - Williamsburg, Red Bowl is right in the center of a bustling urban life. The food is absolutely delicious, be it fish, veggies, meat or seafood. My favourite are chicken lettuce wraps, fried calamari appetizer and any main course with shrimp. Prices are very reasonable for a hip neighborhood like Williamsburg. From the bar I highly recommend lychee martini or a mojito (Yes, they have a full bar!) Sparkling sake is another good choice. For alcohol-free drinks I usually get the deliciously sweet Thai Iced Tea or the traditional green tea. The atmosphere there is always happy and exciting! The owners are awesome and charming people, and they make sure you will get the best experience! Be it a lively party in the evening or a leisurely lunch with your kids, they make everyone feel welcome. During hot summer days I often saw the patrons' pets enjoying a bowl of cool water courtesy of the thoughtful people who work there. In a nutshell Red Bowl is the place to be if you want to enjoy yummy food and have an unforgettable time visiting Brooklyn! Oh, one more thing! If you feel like staying in and your hotel is nearby, just order a take out! It's super fast!

really good food - authentic

By evelyninhouston |

Fancied getting out of Manhattan for a local Chinese and researched this place - nothing not to like. Good food, good value, friendly service and centrally located with a great little ice cream shop opposite for dessert!

Lovely chinese, great service - Orange Chicken - delicious!

By Cutsnake |

My wife and I visited Red Bowl twice as we were staying at the Pod Hotel just around the corner (who recommended it) Great relaxed atmosphere and really friendly service. The food was delicious, we had the orange chicken both times and it was lovely. The lady who owned the place was very friendly and we had a great chat. If I lived in Williamsburg this would definitely be my local Chinese. Oh, really good value for money.

Great Surprise in Williamsburg

By NP1976 |

We were out for a family stroll on Bedford Avenue and came across this restaurant. We hadn't had asian food for the 2 weeks we had been travelling so gave it a go. The food and portions are both very good and the staff are friendly. This is good chinese food freshly cooked and without that heaviness that can come with Chinese. The kids were delighted too as the waiter made sure they were looked after. If you get a table at the street, you can watch the world go by on Bedford. Great Value

Little gem in Williamsburg

Found this place for lunch while walking around Williamsburg. Really tasty food and good service! Would go back again.

Worst pad Thai I've ever had

By Kenneth T |

I was in the mood for Thai and this was the first place I saw. Maybe I should have taken a few signs into consideration... Maybe the fact that they were too lazy to flip the opened/closed sign, perhaps the fact that they only had one customer sitting inside, or maybe that the floors were soaked from their dirty mop. I ordered an order of spring rolls and a chicken pad Thai. The 2 spring rolls were decent but very small for $4. They covered it in dried seaweed pieces which I would have preferred them to avoid or give me another spring roll or bigger spring rolls. The pad Thai was a decent sized but it was actually the most disgusting pad Thai I've ever eaten. They took their name a bit too serious because it was the first time I've ever had pad Thai come out RED. I might be tempted to try their Chinese food next time but their Pad Thai was a big disappointment.

Wonderful Asian Cuisine in a cozy little restaurant

The location is great. The restaurant is clean, cozy, elegant. The menu offers a decent number of choices and the quality and taste of the food was amazing. Service was excellent as well.

Worst food in NY

By avidtraveller64 |

Visited here last night, should’ve stopped before we went in the door when we spotted the B rating. Duck was cold, cucumber soggy, pancakes were in fact tortilla, seaweed was oily and not at all crunchy, dumplings and spring rolls were tasteless. When waitress came to clear almost full plates she asked if food not good, we told her our views and she brought bill over for full amount with no other comment. Needless to say we didn’t leave a tip and will NEVER be going back again

Nice food and service, good place for a quick meal.

Friendly and nice service. Food is above average. Price is really reasonable. Atmosphere is good too. Good place for budget travelers.

Worth trying

By travelus73 |

The redbowl restaurant serves modern asian cuisine in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. They have a varied menu including but not limited to appetizers, dim sum, soups, salad, poultry, beef, pork, seafood, and tofu & vegetable dishes. We went there for lunch today and ordered Chicken with peking sauce and Szechuan shrimp. Also included was rice and a choice of soup or salad for only $6 per lunch special. The portion was good for lunch and the service was good and the food was very good. This place is worth trying if you are in the area.

A New Find!

By Vinson Y |

We were hungry and tired from walking around the neighborhood and chanced upon this hidden gem Red Bowl. We tried our luck in ordering what is special in their Menu. Tried the Tender and sweet pork ribs noodles and General Tao's Chicken (Their version of General Tso's Chicken) To our delight, the pork ribs were tender and succulent, noddles were firm and the soup was superb! (had to order another bowl) The General Tao's is comparable to Mee's General Tso's. Would definitely come back to this fine restaurant if we are around the area.

Never Disappointed Each Time

By Ed S |

Had another lunch with my wife today and again not disappointed anytimes we go to Red Bowl. We were instantly greeted and taken to our table with our menus. Our waiter Juan was very attentive and also served us well. Our choices from this extended and well developed menu is easy to select from. Even some dishes we had in another restaurant was challenged and a very well made version was developed. We selected soups Egg Drop and Classic Won ton. Each made with their authentic favors and look the way you would expect like in the Original Chinese Restaurants of the past. Our appetizer was their Spring Rolls perfectly fried and tasty with a fruity dipping sauce. Our entrees were Roast Pork Lo Mein and Jumbo Shrimp and Lobster Sauce accompanied with Roast Pork Fried Rice and Sauteed String Beans w Dry Sauteed Chopped Pork. The Roast Pork Fried Rice is again classically made and flavorful. Our favorite String Beans are well flavorfully made. We enjoy using the leftovers at home with our other meals. My DW enjoys the Lo Mein again flavorful and freshly made. My plump Jumbo Shrimp w Lobster Sauce was always outstanding. So tenderly made and plenty Lobster Sauce to enjoy even taken home. You can't help taking a doggie bag home to remember the visit. You will not go wrong visiting and dining at Red Bowl. Bay Ridge's favorite.

WORST FOOD EVER!!! Terrible

By Gino G |

This restaurant has simply the worst food and service in NYC. I do not know how people can even try to write good reviews for this spot. Either they are friends of the owner or these people are used to eat garbage. Yes, because food in this place IS GARBAGE. Terrible service, terrible food, never never never go here under any circumstance not even if you are starving, you will regret it!

Clean, Authentic Food

By FollowThatGirl |

I have nothing but great things to say about Red Bowl. Their dumplings and shumai are the real thing! The Cubic steak was clean eating, delicious and over all I felt full and satisfied with our meal. Even the martini they made me was excellent!

Very reasonable and real Chinese

By Katherine B |

The staff and the fare were both quick and lovely. It was the perfect lunch on a beautiful day as we sat by the window and watched Williamsburg go by on Bedford. When I lived in Queens years ago I used to go to a similar restaurant every Friday night. So this one reminded me of that.
