What a Gem! If you want a great experience, eat at Redwood

By Debbie C |

I cannot say enough about this steakhouse. What an unassuming gem in the California Casino. From the moment we stepped through the doors to the moment we left we were waited on and treated like family. The manager, Latonia was simply outstanding and came to make sure everything was to our satisfaction multiple times through our dining experience, even suggesting appetizers and courses that we might like to try. Once our meal arrived, the chef, Henry, came out to greet us and see how our meals were and if we had any questions on our selections. We were treated like royalty. The next time I am in Las Vegas, I will absolutely be returning to the Redwood. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding!

Unexpected Surprise

By Tulips4You |

We drove in from Phoenix for the day and family members mentioned going to Redwood. I was not so sure of going to an older casino to have dinner. I was so used to the fancier, more modern casino. Wow. I am so happy to have been introduced to Redwood. I had one of the most amazing, tastiest meals I have ever had anywhere! Everyone was so friendly and helpful. A skeptic, at first, but now I am a Redwood patron for life!

nice not expensive

By john hammy |

We had a lovely meat at the redwood restrauant in the California casino in downtown Vegas.this is a nice restraint and not to expensive.we had a 16oz steak which was one of the best I've had,my wife had chicken and prawns, again very nice.we had two soups for starters with lovely fresh bread.total cost was 56 dollars, not silly money.

Don’t order steak. It comes unseasoned.

Hostess -0 Stars she puts the dirty menu on the plates. Service -0 Stars came on a Sunday evening and very slow. Food -0 Stars Bread & Butter boring and plain. -0 Stars Porterhouse steak unseasoned and bland. I added salt and pepper still boring. Tried 2 of their sauces better but the meat still unseasoned. They don’t even season the veggies that come with. -0 Stars for the thin skinny asparagus. 1 Star for trying to be a steakhouse

Redwood Steakhouse

By Roy Y |

Redwood's food and service is always excellent! We always order the Oysters Rockefeller appetizer and filet mignon and lobster tail entree. This time I tried a topper of crab meat, asparagus and bearnaise sauce. This was good, but I enjoyed the steak just as is.

Fantastic Meal, Stellar Service

Great evening at Redwood last Sunday. The food was absolutely delicious.. Starting with fresh bread and olives, and waited for the steaks. Perfectly cooked medium-rare, and the sides were huge.. Wife loved the crab legs Server was on the spot and delivered fantastic service.. One of the best meals of our trip..

Great Experience

By DJoy547 |

This was my first visit at Redwood. My friends and I went to the bar side of the restaurant. Let me just say, the service was memorable. Keith and Matt at the bar side of the restaurant made us fee like we were at home (very personable). We kept on coming back till our trip was done. They both made us laugh and at the same time gave us great customer service. Would definitely come back, and I will be bringing all my friends and family to Redwood.

Just OK

By KathyandJim2015 |

If you are there anyway, it's not a bad place. But don't cancel something like Binion's steak house for this place. The porterhouse was small and mine was over cooked, but still tender. The apple dumpling was a nice addition.

Great dinner

By bigcro75 |

The food was delicious!! My only advise, This restaurant does not offer sides with their meals. So if you want a mash potato or veggie, that's an extra cost, on top of your meat price. The Fillet was cooked perfect, very tender, and great flavor.

Good Food and Reasonibly Priced

By Todd K |

Best Bang for the Buck!!!! We had a few cocktails at the bar before entering in the restaurant. The bartender was very polite and joked with us. When we entered the restaurant, we were warmly greeted by our bus person and waiter, both of whom were very friendly and we not only enjoyed conversations but took them up on some dining suggestions. The filets were cooked to our order, they were very tasty. The side dishes of mac & cheese (made with 2 or 3 types of cheeses including bleu), the asparagus spears were very large, tender and tasty. The sauteed mushrooms were amazing, with some much flavor, they accompanied the steaks very well. Looking forward to getting the chance to return and dine.

Redwood Bar and Grill

By Roy Y |

The filet mignon and lobster tails were outstanding as usual. The oysters, wine and salads were very good as well. But what made dinner even better was our server, Darren! He was very pleasant, personable and humorous. He kept the bread, drinks, appetizers, salad and entrees flowing at a good pace. One day our family isn't too full, we will try the desserts! And thanks again to Darren, for making our meal that much more enjoyable!

last meal

By Wayne F |

We were dining with good friends we only get to see once every year or two, live several thousand miles apart. Last night in Vegas, fathers day to boot. Wanted to do something special, came downtown and checked out the redwood. Several hr. wait, ok since in a casino, played back jack on a five dollar table and broke even. Restaurant nice atmosphere, good service and menu. Wife had roasted chicken and raved about it, I sampled and had to agree. Our friends had the salmon and seafood cioppino and loved both. Now for the one meal I was disappointed with, mine. Would have given a five rating otherwise. I had the fathers day special. It consisted of a porterhouse and a lobster tail. Lobster was prepared differently, seemed like it was deep fried, was okay. Steak not as good. First it was really thin cut, more like what you get at a low cost joint. But then if it had been thicker I would have needed a better steak knife. Was cooked like I ordered, med. rare, but not a piece of meat I would pay 60 bucks for. Would expect more than what I got for the money.

Exceeded our expectations

By Vickers5 |

We picked this restaurant for our final night in Vegas using the reviews on Trip Advisor as our guide. We were not disappointed. The filets were cooked to perfection and the sides were large enough to share for our table of 4. The bread served with marinated olives, pearl onions and roasted garlic cloves was delicious. Our server Mark was knowledgeable offering suggestions and making general conversation with us. Nice wines and cocktails. This will go on a list for a return trip.

Solid upper mid range for downtown

By LKS11 |

Prime rib was on the agenda and did not disappoint, huge cut! Newly remodeled inside the California. Great service, really nice portions. I was surprised how nice the meal & environment was. This is where i'll go for my "fancy" downtown meal. It's tucked away, you won't really know it's there just by hanging out on Fremont. Go here if you want a nicer meal without hitting the more expensive steak houses downtown.

Good steakhouse in the heart of freemont street.

By Angela Turner |

Good but pricey steakhouse in the heart of downtown las vegas freemont street. Hot rolls. Needed a little more variety. Maybe a chicken or two options. A couple more vegetables. Nice, attentive staff. Lamb dinner cooked how I liked it. Macoroni was luke warm. Needed to be hotter. Needed to be Hot and bubbly when gave to us. Overall, a good experience.

Not going back again

By andrewhawleylives |

My husband received a thin sir lion steak instead of filet mig non and I suspect that was because it was some kind of convienous back in the kitchen as it was obvious. My husband is very kind man and did not want to complain. He is also great tipper and I insisted he not be as generous as he normally would have. Lobster dry, nothing special at all. Vegetables were only for decoration, terrible flavor and rubbery to chew. Blue cheeze dressing was not real blue cheeze just a cheap brand.

Elegant, Professional Service, Great Value!

By travelgirl1960 |

I booked a reservation on Open Table. The restaurant was lovely in decor, with nice booths although maybe the tables are a bit high for us shorter folk. Beautiful rustic bread loaf with olive oil for dipping was presented, as well as a porterhouse special that began with a pretty mesclun salad. The steak was perfectly cooked, perhaps on the thinner side for a porterhouse, but plenty hearty nontheless; and delicious. The starch options included the regulars but I opted for garlic mashed. I was pleasantly suprised at the presentation of my potatoes - wrapped in a wonton and perfectly crisped to reveal a lovely pocket of potato to cut into! Dessert was included and was a velvety vanilla bean ice cream over a perfectly petite apple dumpling, with fresh whipped cream. This was the special for $24+ - a great meal at a great price with excellent service. I will go back to try something else next time!

Great Experience

Darren and Nicole couldn’t have been better. Knowledgeable and cared about us having a great experience. Steak was as good as any I’ve had in Vegas. Cooked to perfection. Nice atmosphere.

Give Redwood a try!

By stitcher1951 |

We visited this restaurant on a Monday night. It is decorated very nice and it feels very relaxing. Our server was Hilario and he did a great job. One downfall was it took a long time to get our food They started with a baguette garlic loaf. It was so delicious. The garlic was not overwhelming My daughter in law had roasted chicken and she said it was very good My son had a rib steak and he said it was just how he likes it My husband had prime rib and he said it was juicy and flavorful I had the surf and turf. The filet was very good and cooked perfectly. The lobster however was a disappointment. The flavor was ok but is was very mushy. For $85 it should have been better Our sides were mashed potato, baked potato and braised mushrooms. All were very good. I have to say i dont like to have to pay for a baked potato when a $60 steak is ordered The highlight of the eveving was their chocolate cake. DO NOT leave the restaurant without the chocolate cake! So all in all a nice meal and a great evening

Delicious Steakhouse with Patient Servers

By mshapiro99 |

We were a bit of a rowdy group in the otherwise staid environment, but Beatriz and Maria handled us with calm confidence and we eventually settled down. Enjoyed the company and a delicious meal: NY Strip steak, mushrooms, corn, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. No room for dessert!

Don't miss this gem!

By Escape35176956942 |

What a gem! We were looking for a place downtown for our Anniversary dinner. I wanted just lobster, everywhere it was just an add on to steak. My husband wanted fish. This place fit the bill. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel like honored guests. Our server, Beatrix was awesome! Fun, on the ball, attentive without being oppressive. I had the 12 ounce tail, steamed as she recommended. Best lobster I've ever had! Tender, flavorful... I paired it with the mashed potatoes which came in a huge bowl made with cream and sweet cream butter! To die for! My husband had the sea bass in miso sauce. Huge piece, said it was best he'd ever had. He paired it with a massive baked potato. While we were eating, the manager, Kathleen Burroughs, came to our table to ensure everything was alright and suggested we not leave without dessert. Not normally dessert eaters we decided to share a creme Brule! It was awesome! Prices were reasonable abd we will go back!

A real Hidden Gem!

By GaryHLondon |

Wow! What a fantastic steakhouse that delivers on quality, service and value. We visited as a family of 8 to celebrate a special occasion. We'd researched a number of other places but the Redwood stood out because of it's great value but I was a little worried that it might not be that good - boy was I wrong. We received a warm welcome and were seated at a great table. Our waiter was super friendly and helpful and sorted our drinks out quickly. He then made some recommendations and gave some great advice on cuts of meat, sizes etc - this guy new his was around a cow. Then the food arrived - OMG it was cooked to perfection and the steaks were massive. The sides were delicious and again perfectly cooked - they have obviously got a great chef to. Overall, we had a fantastic meal - this place is a real hidden gem.

Not as good as in the past

By newyorklady88 |

We have been regular visitors to the Redwood for about 25 years. We went there again on this year's trip to Las Vegas. The strong point is the seafood. While the serving size on the King Crab legs went down, it is still good for the price. Quality on the King Crab and the Lobster tail is still excellent. The Porterhouse steak special was OK but the thickness has dropped. Salad used to be included and now is not. Service is still very good.

Steak at its finest

By empressellen |

This restaurant is located in the California Hotel downtown, a block from the Fremont Experience. It's a throw back to Old Vegas, in the best way. Beautiful restaurant, dark paneling. Had a filet you could cut with a fork. The vegetable side this evening was a medley of green & wax beans and baby carrots, lightly seasoned and they were delicious. Bread served with a beautifully seasoned dipping oil. Two of us had the filet and one had the T bone special. Beautiful crème Brule for dessert. The service is impeccable. I will definitely visit here again!

Gave it another try

By Tom H |

We’ve been to Redwood before. The last time was a few years ago and real disappointing. They have remodeled and it looks pretty nice. My wife had the filet mignon. It was very tender and cooked perfectly. I had the 12 oz lobster lightly broiled and it was excellent. We had a shrimp cocktail with their atomic cocktail sauce. The shrimp was large and flavorful. The atomic sauce lacked any pop. It pretty much tasted like regular cocktail sauce. The side of spinach was lightly blanched and was tasty and fresh. For dessert we had their cheesecake. Great flavor and fresh strawberry compote, a perfect match. The French Press coffee was excellent.

Dessert was good

By Pat C |

Cocktail service was very slow. Entrees were almost 2 hours coming. Seafood was overcooked. How are you supposed to crack a crab shell that is floating in tomato sauce? I sent it back. I live on the east coast I know what good (expensive) seafood is supposed to taste like and the texture of shrimp is not leather. Refill cocktail was 30 minutes. Apple caramel dessert was excellent.

Great value for a Steakhouse

By cmchaca |

Actually, I wasn't that hungry so I had the Roast Chicken. Stick to steaks - my chicken was dry without too much flavor. Good news for me was, they accidentally brought one extra gravy and mushrooms - so I put it on my chicken, and it was great! They have a nice warm bread and butter with an olive bowl at the beginning...and it was good. Darn, I ate TWO pieces of bread it was nice and buttery good! My husband and another had the 16oz prime rib, cooked to their liking and it was...ugh, can't remember...but less than $30. That's great for a steakhouse. Others had the ribeye (their most expensive at around $32). No one complained - I believe all was cooked to their liking. My husband and i shared a Caesar salad - plenty big for two. I tasted my moms' mashed potatoes - they were dry to me...I think lot's of butter and cream is necessary at a nice restaurant for them to go over well. The Asparagus was yummy. You know, in the end...it's not a 5 star Steakhouse, but it's a good one and you get a lot of food for the price. We had a fun birthday dinner there and the wait staff were all very friendly. For a little larger parties, FYI...we were 9 adults, with drinks and coffee, the bill with tax was $418. Very reasonable.

Very Pleasant Surprise!!

By Monarch949 |

Had to share in case others have been missing this like we were: Redwood Steakhouse at The California! We were there last Sunday. I've always been reluctant to try lamb chops (thinking "mutton") but the waiter we had said theirs were great and talked me into trying. Wow!! They were excellent, what a surprise, will definitely have again at The Cal. Wife had a filet and she was completely impressed as well. For a topnotch steakhouse they may have the best prices in Vegas! The place has been re-done --- it looks great and in our opinions IS great.

Definitely will eat here again.

By kanikani2 |

The service was good. The portions are large, so next time I think we will order one dinner and divide it. My husband loved his 16 oz New York steak. It was seasoned just right. The outside was just a little crispy and the inside juicy. He felt guilty that he couldn't eat all of it. My lamb chops were perfectly cooked and delicious. I especially enjoyed the warm olives, peppers, and artichoke hearts that they serve with the bread. Becareful, Don't eat too much of the bread the meals are huge. We wasted a lot. We ate only half of each our meals.

Amazing Staff, and 1st rate food

By Pansy77th |

Came here on a date. The staff was amazing. The food was beyond expectations. Lots of places to go and have prime rib. This place has the best prime rib I have ever had. I was amazed at how lovely, comfortable and light the dinning room was. Great wine, perfect food. I think even Gordon Ramsay would enjoy his time here.

Nearly flawless food and service at a better price than others

By AndyTheGameInventor |

Downtown and Strip Steakhouses in Las Vegas have become very very pricey in the past few years. Redwood Steakhouse in the California Hotel & Casino provides great food and service at a much better value. Decor was warm and upscale, service was very very good. The glass doors keep the smoke from the casino to a minimum. The complimentary heated olives and bread at the start of the meal were a nice touch. My crab cake appetizer was very good - mostly crab not mostly bread. I was planning to order the ribeye but 22oz (bone-in, but still....) seemed like a diet-killer, so I took the 10 oz filet mignon with a side of mushrooms. Steak was very good but also very thick, and while they got the medium-rare right in the center, it's hard to get the outsides medium-rare on that thick a cut, so I think they would have done better with a thinner cut. Still, the steak was an 9/10 but the mushrooms were an 11. My dinner, including a beer and tax, came to about $63 before tip, which barely covers the steak at most other steakhouses. Very pleased, would gladly return.

Nice place to have dinner

By RKrue |

I enjoyed the service and the meal. Would recommend for the service which was fantastic and the meal was one of the better ones I had in Vegas. Prices were not all that high as I have come to expect from the Vegas in general.

Always perfect.

By OKtoGOnow |

We stay at the California Hotel twice a year and always dine here one evening. The steaks are tender and cooked to perfection. The petite filet is my favorite. The service is fantastic and the staff very friendly. We live in wine country and bring our own wine. The corkage fee is only $10. Very reasonable. If you plan on going make a reservation before you arrive. They can fill up fast.

For you if you like Ruth Chris-style steakhouses

By Annabelle O |

I consider this restaurant a must during my visits to Las Vegas. I was surprised to see the Casino and Redwood Grill was recently remodeled. The fabulous wait staff are still here, but gone is the great steak specials. Everything is ala cart, steaks, sides, etc. prices have gone up. 7oz fillet Minot was tender but lacked flavor. Prime rib was generous cut. Overall I will miss the old feel of the place.

Excellent Steak and great service

By Danceman2008 |

After a tip from the bartender found a great seat and ate quickly! Excellent 18oz. steak cook well!!!

Wonderful surprise!

What a find! We wanted a nice steak dinner in a quiet place for my birthday without breaking the bank. The porterhouse special inludes salad, steak, & desert and was well worth the price. We have madr this a stop each time we visit Vegas.

Satisfying Ambience

By 510dele |

The Steakhouse is a feature of the Cal Club. For us the setting was a welcome place. A subdued restaurant with excellent service and remarkable food selection. Our favorites over several visits have included the steak & lobster, new york steak, and a special chicken dish which we made up and the chef delivered. One baked potato will serve two. The staff is there to please and serve. The activity in the space is interesting, The setting is cozy but not tight. The feel is that of a class place without showing off. We enjoy it... frequently.

Melt-in-your-mouth Steak

By Paul E |

We both had the filet mignon and it was melt in your mouth, perfectly cooked excellence. Complimented it with the mushroom sauce. For starters the caesar salad with white anchovies, and an Idaho baked potatoe as the side. The potatos are hugh (10-12 ounces) and knowing that we would have split one. Good selection of craft beers and wine. Upscale decor and ultra professional service. Worth the splurge for a very memorial meal.

NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE

By Steven C |

My wife and I have eaten at this location in years past with a friend and we always like it very much. Unfortunately, this place has lost its appeal and it's food is average at best. The service was very good however, the food we ordered was not cooked as ordered and they are now substituting inferior cuts of beef presenting them as higher quality (and priced) cuts. I ordered Filet Mignon and I had to return the steak to be cooked as I ordered and the cut was definitely not what they claimed it to be. (It was a cheap cut with little flavor.) The garlic mashed potatoes that came with my steak was a tablespoon's amount of potato in a won ton skin. (Two small bites at most.) My wife had the Ahi and she had to request wasabi and soy sauce to make her own sauce as the vinaigrette sauce they provided was tasteless and not something you would eat with Ahi. The salad that came with the Ahi was also some kind of Korean style spicy salad that most people would not expect nor like. A salad course used to come with your meals at this location however, they have done away with this feature and there are no optional ala cart sides you can order to have with your meal. For the price, the food overall was very average and nothing near as good as what we had experienced in years past. We don't plan on coming back as we can find better for the price elsewhere in Vegas.

Fantastic!

By ArizonaVal |

Was in Vegas for my 60th birthday, November 6 with my boyfriend. Had to rely on reading reviews to choose a restaurant for my dinner as we live in Arizona. I am SO glad we chose Redwood Steak. We both had a 10 oz filet and an 8 oz lobster tail....escargot for my appetizer, shrimp cocktail for my boyfriend. Everything was cooked to perfection, steak was wonderfully flavorful, tender and delicious and we could not have been happier. Service was prompt and efficient, not helicopter like ;) Prices were reasonable for the fabulous food we were served. We are returning for his birthday in February, 2018 and cannot wait to come back here for his birthday celebration.

Wondefrul Gem

By Lovinglv |

We had heard that there was a great steakhouse downtown LV at the California. We were not disappointed! I had the Prime Rib and have to say it was one of the most flavorful cuts I have had in a very long time. My friend had the fish and it was delicious. The restaurant is dedinitely a hidden gem..

Best Deal Downtown

By David H |

Great ambiance, impeccable service from attentive and knowledgeable wait staff, very accommodating and eager to please. Now the food.....Three of us ordered the special; Porterhouse steak (12 oz.+-), potato or rice, soup or salad, veg of the day and dessert for $24.....Can't beat it downtown in my opinion. The steak was done to perfection, the portions were good and the dessert was an apple turnover with caramel sauce and ice cream. I failed to mention the loaf of fantastic crusty bread brought out initially with butter and olive oil, heaven. My wife ordered the 8 oz. filet medium rare and it came out raw. It was quickly redone and served with fresh sides, correctly this time. A must in downtown.

Good choice before Smith Center performance

By Linda F |

Location may not be posh, but the staff is professional, drinks ample, and the $24 porterhouse steak special was outstanding value. Two shared the 18oz steak, only $5 extra for the service. The salad and sides were very good, and the sauce on the apple dumpling dessert was devine! Our party of 6 arrived at 5:15pm for our 5:30p reservation, waited in bar and ordered drinks on their happy hour pricing. Waitress gave us a round table of our choice, got every order correct and served our food promptly We had tickets for 7:30pm performance at nearby Smith Center, and were able to exit restaurant well before 7:00pm, and this was a Saturday night. This restaurant may not be for the beautiful people, but it provides better food and service than most dream of. The online reservation service was a real plus too. No credit card required to hold prime time table, and there was no "lost res" here. Would absolutely return, and have already recommended to friends. The 5:30pm first seating is slightly later than desired for a leisurely dinner before the theatre, but all else was top notch. Highly recommend ordering wine or drinks in bar prior to expedite dining table orders, and save on total bill.

Excellent across the board!

By gingergreenglasses |

Our group really enjoyed everything about our dining experience here! Our party of five each ordered something different - and each meal was exquisite! From the high quality cuts of meat to the complex sauces to the freshness of the vegetables, we were blown away by it all! Also, the staff at the Redwood were true professionals and very attentive. The prices were great for fine dining. The atmosphere is lovely and dignified. Downtown is so often overshadowed by the strip, but the Redwood is fantastic - and should be considered a gem off Fremont!

Good, but not great steak

By Ken H |

This is a place where you can get a pretty good steak and it won't bankrupt you. However, they weren't great steaks. 't had steaks at this restaurant after having eaten at Stack at the Mirage a couple nights before. There really wasn't a comparison. Loved Stack, but thought the steaks here were good but nothing to write home about. We went here instead of Hugo's Cellar because of the cost (we were with another couple on a bit more of a budget than us), but I think I would have rather tried Hugo's when we were downtown. The atmosphere was plenty nice and the location pretty good if you are going downtown (at the head of the downtown area in the California Hotel).

Great atmosphere & food

By GymBeau12 |

Well run dinning and excellent food. I really enjoyed all the food and beverages ordered. The steak and sea food was awesome. The service was top at excellence in making sure it is an enjoyable dining experience.

King Crab Legs at the Redwood

By Creighton C |

Went to the Redwood with my family back in May. I had the King Crab Legs and my wife had the Prime Rib. We shared the meal which was very delicious and plentiful. We were stuffed. the Crab Legs were the Jumbo size which was very filling especially doused in butter. Yummy.

One of downtown's best kept secrets

By jjacks70 |

I'm surprised Redwood Bar and Grill is not recommended more often for a great steak restaurant in Vegas. It is by far one of the most reasonably priced, and the food is excellent! We went to Redwood after my wedding. It was myself, my husband and my sister. The staff was attentive. The bread was so yummy I think we got 4 loaves! I had the filet and shrimp scampi. The filet was perfect, medium rare and super tender. My husband and sister had the $24 porterhouse special. This is a full meal, including dessert! The steaks were cooked perfectly and were huge! Neither could finish them. The prices were fantastic and was a perfect dinner for my Vegas wedding! Highly recommended!

Best dinner in quite some time..

By Keats1 |

We had dinner here on Sunday 13 March 2016. We were seated at a table ( the seats in the boots are really low and uncomfortable) and in no time we were greeted by Nicole. She brought us ice water and a small loaf of fresh warm bread. This was accompanied by a small dish of olive oil for dipping and a large helping of butter. I ordered the special. That's a 16 oz. Porterhouse steak that came with a large baked potato and vegetables. I also had a nice portion of salad with blue cheese dressing. My wife ordered a petite filet. (8 oz?) and it had the same sides. While waiting for our dinners to be prepared, I had a bottle of beer and my wife had a glass of the house White Zinfandel wine. Dinner arrived and I tried my steak. It was very good. Done just a bit under medium but still O.K. My wife tried her filet and said that it was probably the best filet that she had tasted in a very long time. She gave me a small bite to sample and I have to agree with her, it was simply outstanding. The potato came with a large portion of sour cream, butter and chives. The skin was dusted with salt and it was very good. After dinner, I had the included dessert of a warm Apple turnover drenched in warm Caramel sauce and a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream. We skipped an after dinner drink or coffee. Service by Alajandro (sp) was very good and his assistant Nicole was right there refilling our glasses and taking away the dirty dishes promptly. Our bill including the drinks and a tip came to $80.00. Not bad for a great dinning experience. We've been here many times in the past and I'll be sure to return again next time we get to Las Vegas.

No More Porterhouse Special

By joggerbill |

We’ve eaten here several times over the past 10 years and were disappointed to find out they’ve discontinued their Porterhouse special since remodeling. We also found the new configuration less intimate than before. Those points aside I found the French onion soup and my beef short rib entree to be outstanding. The soup was layered with cheese over a rich beef broth. The beef rib was falling off the bone into very tasty gravy. The apple dumpling ala mode was a wonderful ending to the meal. My wife opted for the crab add-on and thought it was very good.

Just the two of us

By Terry P |

My wife and I dine here on every trip to vegas. The food is always excellent and the staff are great too. They have a full service bar and drinks are good too. Every thing is top notch here and you wont be disappointed. .

Really good food and service...super tired decor.

By Mark D |

My wife and I use to eat here 20+ years ago and haven't been back since. I don't know why we always have meant to. Well last night I asked my wife if she wanted to go to the Redwood for dinner for old times sake. The place looked much more worn out than I ever remembered it. I remembered a much more elegant setting with a gentleman playing a baby grand in the lounge. We walked in last night and were told the piano has been long gone but unfortunately the 1980's decor was in full swing. Great service and food but not excited about spending a $150 to sit in a run down coffee house atmosphere. Glad we went back so we now know we don't need to go there again in the future. Somebody remodel this place soon!!! Would it kill them to at least put some white linen table cloths on the old tables to dress the restaurant up? What a shame great food and service.

Great food, Awful service

By Jusdina N |

My husband and I decided to eat in at our hotel for our anniversary dinner considering the reviews for this place were pretty good. We were pleasantly surprised when our waiter seemed to know his stuff about the menu and we quickly chose our dishes with his help. Upon bringing our food to our table though it started to go south. Our food was brought out on a tray with the food for the table next us. He served them first and then proceeded to take a couple of their dishes into the back and wait for them to be cut up for the kids. Meanwhile our food is sitting right in front of us on his cart for about 10 minutes. When we finally get our food it is actually very good. I had a broccoli soup and a filet mignon. We finish our food and the waiter asks if we want desserts. We respond no because we are anxious to get out on Freemont to enjoy the nightlife. We then wait over 25 minutes to receive our check. We watch our waiter bring checks to everybody else and have a whole conversation with table next to us. We did not go to Vegas to sit inside of their restaurant and wait. Needless to say our waiter ruined our dinner and took a chunk of time out of our evening. We were not pleased. With this all being said I did enjoy the food so I would give the restaurant another chance but would definitely ask for a different waiter if this gentlemen was still there. (Wish I remembered his name!! for all of you!)

Best prime rib on the planet

By moodystew |

Our favorite restaurant for many years. Best prime rib on the planet (I'm not kidding). Lobster thermidor on the menu which is hard to find. Ask for Hilario for your server and tell him Stew and Lori sent you, and say hello to head chef Henry Jones (no, not That Henry/Indians Jones ...lol)

Overcooked food, understaffed

We were looking forward to this place based on the reviews. I had the escargot which was the only thing that was good. My husband ordered the scallops and shrimp and I ordered the crab. Both were very overcooked. The crab was so overcooked and dry it was very hard to remove from the shell. Our waiter checked on us a couple of times very briefly and then would disappear into the kitchen for long periods of time. I had honestly wonder if he wasn't double-dutying as a cook as well as a server. Extremely disappointing service and food.

Classic Steakhouse Experience

By jjr123 |

The Redwood is newly remodeled and very inviting. The decor and atmosphere is light with beige tones and accents of classic wood. The dining room has a nice layout of booths and tables. We were greeted and seated promptly. On the classic cocktail menu, the old fashioned is among the best I have ever tasted. Both my wife and I had the filet mignon; the steak was grilled to perfection and the accompanying sauces were excellent. Yukon Gold mashed potatoes were outstanding. The service was attentive. During our meal, the chef walked around the dining room for a few minutes, greeting the diners and asking about the dinners. The prices are reasonable for the very high quality of the entire experience. We will definitely return to the Redwood Steakhouse.

Anniversary Celebration

By Debbie L |

My husband, me and my daughter and son-in-law were visiting Las Vegas right before their anniversary. My husband I I wanted to treat them to an anniversary dinner at a good steakhouse. My daughter did some research and we decided on The Redwood Steakhouse. I am so glad we did! Waiter Darren was fantastic! We highly recommend REDWOOD STEAKHOUSE Bring your appetite EXELLENT FOOD EXCELLENT SERVICE Starts with a loaf of fresh baked bread whipped butter served with a dish of various marinated olives pickled onions roast garlic DELICIOUS! FILET MIGNON Large! BAKED POTATO WITH fixings in a separate dish to add as you like. My daughter and son-in-law shared a large sirloin plus a side of macaroni and cheese. They loved it! Dessert was the most amazing Cheese Cake! Good thing we decided to share!

Best prime rib!

By dudu2207 |

I came here knowing that this restaurant has temporarily moved to Main Street station casino from its sister casino the California. This place was recommended to me by my sister and it did not disappoint. We started with the Alaskan kings crab legs, which are halved for you for easy access for those who know how frustrating getting meat out of crab legs are! Pick the meat out with a fork and dip it in their lemon and garlic butter and you will know how great these are! For the main, I had the highly recommended prime rib, this cut of beef has now become my favourite, the texture and flavour stands out so much and the tenderness is heavenly! Others on my table tried various dishes such as the lamb chops and the lobster Thermidor, which I tried and nothing can melt in the mouth more than perfectly cooked lobster tail with a creamy cheese sauce. If you're around the downtown area, please come here and try it for yourself. I can guarantee you won't be disappointed. Amazing amazing amazing!!!

Excellent Old School Las Vegas

By daneone |

Absolutely love the Redwood Bar & Grill located in the California Hotel in downtown Las Vegas. Do make reservations as it is not large and they fill quickly. Horseshoe booths, candles on the table, NOT loud, excellent menu selections and reasonable priced bottled wine or by the glass. I have never had a bad meal here and always try to include at least one dinner every time I am in Las Vegas. I would highly recommend.

Unexpected Quality

By Lespaulburst |

Went to the old town in Vegas this evening and after seeing the Mob Museum and Fremont Street Experience we were looking for some food . We walked to Main Street and noted a sign for the Redwood steakhouse . Didn’t expect much , but was more than pleasantly surprised. The service and food was really excellent . I had a petit fillet mignon with a salad wedge , perfectly cooked . All my guests loved it ! When in the area , will go back !

Good steak dinner

By Skierdude1 |

We asked our taxi driver for a recommendation near Fremont Street. Never would have selected this restaurant or known about it. We each had the rib eye and different sides. I was was happy with the preparation and taste. Waiter was friendly and helpful. Same meal on the strip would have been significantly more.

Went to this restaurant based on reviews on tripadvisor and was not dissapointed ,delicious food ,great value and service .cant wait to come back next time we are in vegas..

Great staff, solid food

By MisterBungle |

My colleague insisted on taking me here, and it was a great experience. We arrived before the dining room opened, so spent some time chatting with the bartender... an excellent fellow (but his name escapes me). (BTW, make sure you check the hours and days of business before heading over, as it is closed a couple of times during the week.) We also met Pat, the casino shift manager, who, like the bartender, was personable and welcoming. When the dining room opened, we proceeded to eat. The menu was good, and the service matched. My steak was cooked correctly. I don't often stay for dessert, but was happy to extend my stay.

Try the Porterhouse Steak Special

By holliewolf |

Tried for the first time and I liked it. I had: the Porterhouse Steak Dinner Special for $24. Included:• 18oz. Porterhouse Steak (very good) • Soup or Salad • Vegetable • Starch of choice • Apple Dumpling & Vanilla Bean Ice Cream with Rum sauce. For that price, you cant go wrong. Tasty food and nice service. I would go again.

Wonderful Dinner

By Whiteout22 |

On our last visit we ate here twice. Food and service excellent. The waitstaff are all very attentive and friendly. Great happy hour too!! We had eaten here a year ago and there has been a vast improvement in food and service. Highly recommend. I had the crab one evening, wow!

Porterhouse Special - Great!

By NitroDog |

The have a great special (in fact they have had it for years). Complete porterhouse steak dinner for around $24.00. Soup or salad, bread, 22 oz. steak, baked potato, veggies and apple dumpling with ice cream. My wife had the Cioppino and she said it was very good - rich and deep in flavor. Lots of seafood in it. This is "old school" Vegas. Very good service.

Great Steak and Service

By Dustin T |

We ate here in late Sept of 2017 and plan to go back in couple weeks when we return to town. We had an amazing filet and the service was fantastic. We are fairly picky about our steaks as our family raises beef and I hunt. The meal was fantastic and honestly for a very nice steakhouse in Vegas, I felt the prices were very fair as well.

Fine dining at the Cal

By DYA717 |

The Redwood Bar & Grill at the California Hotel/Casino is a great, relaxing place for fine dining. Their menu selection is very good and the service excellent. The restaurant has a warm (dark) feel to it. Nice restaurant for a relaxing fine dining.

No glitz, just a dark man cave...

By Howard T |

This would've been a really nice elegant restaurant for a local casino. 1) Bread delivered cold 2) vegetables for entree were like left overs from day prior 3) Music playing in dining room is what you would hear in a dentist office.

Very disappointed

By Sal M |

Being a Las Vegas local we try to go to a diffent restaurant every other weekend. This place really missed the mark. We were seated and waited 30 mins for a glass of water. Waiter finally came to the table and said can I get you some appetizers? We order the shrimp cocktail. 30 mins later three shrimp arrvied for $14 maybe it should have been 4. We were never given a wine list, we asked twice. The food took over and hour to arrive to the table and it was also below an average grade. I order sherbet for desert, and it arrived with a frozen french fry in it. Stay away and save your money. It's not the Vegas experience you want.

Fine restaurant

By RRson |

Have had several good meals here. Service is top-notch and a nice wine selection. Steaks as good as they come.

Best Prime Rib!

By Dencon156 |

We hit the Redwood Bar and Grill at least 3-4 times a year and they have never disappointed us. I usually get the Prime Rib and the wife mixes it up, but if you do get the Prime Rib, you have to get the horseradish sauce to go with it. It is by far the best I have ever had at any restaurant here in Vegas. Reasonable prices and top notch service to boot! A must stop for dinner if planning a trip to Las Vegas.

Well hidden Gem of a Steakhouse

By Chuck M |

This isn't cheap eats. It is a real Steakhouse with real steaks. The chef did a great job of cooking the steak to perfection. I ordered my filet medium and I am used to places like Outback and medium could mean anything from raw to charred but this was a perfect medium with a light crust and a juicy pink middle. My friends' steaks were also cooked perfectly. It is hidden in the California Casino otherwise I suspect it would be more well known and appreciated. It's not cheap but not break the bank either and with my friends ordering a couple drinks we walked away at about $60 per person.

Don't miss this hidden gem!

By D'Auna L |

Redwood is a must every time I come to Las Vegas, which is about 5 times a year! My favorite is the pecan crusted chicken and my husband always gets steak. Others in my family love the king crab. I also love their special house salad dressing! It is small and its best to make reservations. I haven't ever had a bad experience.

Nice steakhouse

By liveonthego |

Great cut of prime rib, onion soup also good. the salad was okay and the long island ice tea was too sweet. Good wait staff, food was served quickly, i will go again.

Supper

By Debbie v |

My friend and I ditched our husbands for a nice meal out and we enjoyed every bite. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great Italian meal.

Great food

By Wranches |

The Prime Rib was great and large, one couple split theirs was just right. The steaks were very good, as were the side dishes.

Very tasty "Special" Porterhouse steak

By Keats1 |

We dined here on 3-30-15. We had reservations for 7:00 P.M. and were seated in a booth very quickly. I must note here that for some reason the tables are much higher than the seats and it made dining a bit awkward. I felt like I needed a booster seat. This was at all of the booths, not just mine. Our waiter was Brian. He was friendly and prompt. I asked about the "Special" that is not shown on the menu and he said that it was still available and was $24.95. It was a Porterhouse steak and came with soup or salad, potatoes, and a side of vegetables. This is now the only dinner that includes sides. All the other dinners are Ala Carte. I ordered the special and a busboy arrived in just a minute with a freshly baked hot loaf of bread, butter and olive oil for dipping. This bread was outstanding. He explained that the restaurant buys the loaves ready to bake and bakes them as needed for the diners. Our salad and soup arrived promptly and both were very good. The main course came next and it was one of the very best Porterhouse steaks I've ever had. It was done just right and was very tasty and tender. I could not finish it and neither could my wife. She asked for a styro-foam box to take the leftover steak with and the busboy brought it right away. I was pretty full but the included dessert was too good to pass up. This is an apple turnover with caramel sauce and has a dollop of whipped cream and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. It's served warm. So much for the calories... Our bill including a nice tip came to $60.00. This has to be one of the best values remaining in Las Vegas. We did not order any drinks or coffee after dinner. Without a doubt, we'll be back. I hope that they keep the Special and that it remains as good as this one was. This is a nice low lighting fine dining experience. O.K. for children if they are well behaved. The restaurant is not very large. They can accommodate some larger parties but I'd strongly suggest making reservations.

Probably our last visit to the redwood Restaurant

By FreddyFrat |

The quality of the food has gone down for the last couple of dinners we have had here. We usually get the steak special but were disappointed again this last trip.

I love this place! Kithen is open during happy hour from 4 pm. Limited appetizers available with drinks.

By 808Alan |

Ate at this place couple times with friends for dinner and during happy hour. Great seafood and steak. Seafood cioppino is an excellent dish here. Tried the cioppino, steak, and scrimp scampi. My favorite appetizers are the seafood medley, poke, and crab shumai. The French onion soup is fabulous.

New and Better Than Ever

By DelbertLovett52 |

The restaurant has recently been completely renovated and it looks great. Our server seemed a little unsure of herself. I couldn't tell if it was inexperience (they are only been re-opened for a week) or what but she was very endearing the few little faux pas in no way detracted from our experience. The service was superb. They start you off with a delicious warm sourdough bread and a dish of olives and pickled artichokes medley. The wine list was very nice and reasonably price. My steak was out of this world good and my friend’s sea bass (he was generous enough to give me a piece) was unbelievable! I’ll be back there every time I’m in Vegas!

A great hidden gem at the Cal!

By Ha-p-2-b-home-n-ME |

I've been several times - and each time I've always enjoyed my meal there. They have a good variety of entrée items ... something for everyone. I normally order some type of seafood and have never been disappointed, it was fresh despite the nearest ocean being a couple of hundred miles away :) The staff is top notch. Pleasant, knowledgeable and on top of things. In my experience, Jesus (not the Savior, the server) was fabulous. He remembered us from previous visits and made every effort to ensure our dinner was a pleasurable experience. The prices are lower than what you'd find at comparable restaurants. Yes, the décor is a bit tired, but the restaurant is cozy and quiet. And seriously, if the food is good, the establishment is clean, and the staff is on top of things, the décor doesn't really matter as much. If you're looking for a little hideaway for an anniversary dinner or couple's escape, this is a great place to go. The bar area is a great spot for meeting up with the other members of your group. And you can take your drinks with you to your table once it's ready. (Believe it or not there are some places that don't allow this!) Overall, the Redwood Bar & Grill has a lot to offer. And as mentioned by other reviewers, their $24 Porterhouse Special can't be beat. It's not on the menu (at least it wasn't the last time I checked but then again I wasn't looking for it either) and you'll have to ask for it. If you're a diehard Vegas Strip fan, take the 15 minute trip up to old Vegas and check this place out. It may not be all the "bells and whistles" that the strip offers, but it offers charm and ambience, as well as a great meal.

Excellent Food

One of my favorite restaurants in the downtown area. Great food and a fun casino. Staff is very attentive.

Wonderful meal at a classic steakhouse

By Paul D |

We enjoyed a wonderful meal at Redwood Steakhouse on a Monday night. It began by wanting to find a great steakhouse. We were also going out to see the Fremont Experience in downtown Las Vegas so finding this restaurant on TripAdvisor made a perfect match. Would recommend going there just for the meal. Bread served was Chiata, salads ordered were large, as well as the sides. But with any true steak house, the steak is the true test. All three steaks were cooked perfectly. Filets and New York Strip were flavorful and tender. We were too full for deserts but they looked delicious as we saw them go by to other tables. When we return to Vegas, we will have to come back to Redwood Steakhouse inside California Hotel.

We were quite impressed!

By Nikki Medaugh |

From our greeting to our dessert it was wonderful. The prices were very reasonable for a steakhouse and the portions were generous.

Exceeded Expectations!

By twinkletoes5477 |

A huge thanks to Chef Henry and his team for an amazing evening at the Redwood. The evening started off with fresh bread and olives to share. My husband ate the Oyster Rockefeller as a starter and I, being vegetarian ate the spinach salad. Both meals were divine and each ingredient was complimentary. For our entrees my husband ate the Lobster Thermidor which he said was cooked so well that it made his extremities tingle! Chef Henry visited our table with regards to a vegetarian dish for myself. He asked what ingredients I would like and he thoughtfully prepared me a creamy pasta delight! We ended the meal with a Creme Brulee which was amazing! This restaurant, I cannot praise highly enough. Delicious food, great staff and lovely decor. Top marks!

Great food, incredible staff

By AWWANL |

We showed up with a party of eight with no reservations. Had to wait for about 45 minutes which was no problem as we wanted to game for awhile anyway. Once seated, the fun began. We were greeted by the most polite, entertaining gentleman who provided us with our water and (fantastic) bread. His sense of humor and efficient service was much welcomed! Then the waiter showed up... He was as upbeat as we were and treated us like we were the only patrons in the place! He didn't miss a beat delivering us exactly what each of us ordered, all the while laughing and joking with us. Simply put, we were spoiled by these two guys!! The food was great and two of us split dinners with no extra charges. We highly recommend this restaurant and we will return on our next visit.

Great dinner

By Jeff C |

Really good food at a fair price. I had the strip steak, my wife had the lamb chops. We were both very impressed. Will definitely be back.

Our favourite

By Dave P |

This has long been our favourite Las Vegas restaurant. We come for prime rib. King size cut, they split in two and we shared and still had leftovers. The cook was perfect. Not a Vegas high end steak house, but great food at a fair price. Inside the California Hotel, just a block from Fremont Street

Great Steaks

By Sherrie M |

Upscale steakhouse with outstanding food. Atmosphere very private in a busy casino. Very surprised this great restaurant could be in the California. Menu was al a carte. Pricey but worth it.

Upscale but NOT snooty experience...AND outstanding VALUE with easy-to-get COUPON

By HeyNow-Hank |

The American Casino Guide (that NO Vegas visitor should be without) contains a $10 Off Coupon for multiple restaurants including this FINE establishment. This coupon turns visiting this place into an absolute NO-BRAINER. The talented wait staff will be happy to guide you through the menu with friendly elegance. I'd like to thank Benjamin for making my first visit such a treat. Bottom line, well-prepared food with bigger-than-expected portions, drinks at VERY fair prices, a GORGEOUS setting, and an excellent BARGAIN with the coupon!

Wonderful

By Terry P |

This place is one of our favorite places to dine in Las Vegas. My wife and I dine here every trip to Vegas. The service and food are very good , and the bar is great too. Everything is always done right, just as you would expect from a high end place. Go ahead and make the trip to the Redwood Bar & Grill, you won't be dissapolnted.

Very Good Reasonably Priced Steakhouse

By ToddHata |

I've eaten here many times over the years, always had a good meal. Compared to other Las Vegas steakhouses, The Redwood Bar & Grill is much less expensive and the quality of food is as good, or even better than some others I've tried. Last time we were here with a group of 10, most of us had the daily special which was an amazing deal. Our total bill came out to about what it would be for a party of 4 anywhere on the Strip. I was so amazed and glad since I was picking up the bill for this occasion. I've had the Porterhouse, Prime Rib, and Rib Eye on different visits, all cooked to the correct temperature and tasted good too. The sides are always good, nothing to complain about at all. They're closed on some days of the week, so be sure to call ahead for reservations and make sure they're open. I know I've missed dining here a few times because we were only there on their days off.

So good we came back again same trip.

By Lorrie B |

We heard this place was wonderful and were not disappointed!! From beginning to end, from service to food, can't stop raving about Redwood. Food was delicious!! We went back two nights later it was so good. Ask for Darren!! Very friendly and professional.

Excellent Dinner at Redwood!

By SinCityJenn |

If you are in Downtown Las Vegas and feel like a good stead dinner Redwood Bar & Grill is a definite must-go! The food is delicious and the service was excellent! There were 4 of us in our group and we ordered 3 ribeyes and 1 prime rib. I ordered the 16oz (smaller of the two available sizes) of prime rib and it was so much food! I attached a picture. I would definitely go here again.

Bar service

By bobsynth |

The cozy bar area in the Redwood is an oasis of sanity in crazy Las Vegas. Located in the downtown casino California. There are maybe 8 bar stools and 4 tables in the bar area. We ate at the bar and had delicious food and drinks and great service. We ate there 3 times in 7 days. Matt and Keith took good care of us at the bar, We love this place.

A Downgrade From a Few Months Ago

By jcstich |

Since my favorite Boyd property gourmet restaurant was closed, I decided to try the Redwood Bar and Grill again after a several month hiatus. Everything appeared the same at first. The menu was the same, the staff was also the same and the decor was the same. The food, however, was not the same. No longer is a salad included with the dinner. The garlic mashed potatoes no longer came wrapped in a fried wonton - just a scoop of mashed potatoes. No espresso was available. All of these were disappointing. The food was just as good, however. Due to the downgrading of the menu, I also downgraded the rating, to a 3 (average) from a 4 (very good). It may still be worth visiting, just manage your expectations properly.

Good Value Steak Dinner

By hitzey |

We went here to try their 18oz porterhouse special for $24.95, which included soup/salad, and an apple dumpling with ice cream for dessert. Service was good, we were asked many times how we are enjoying the food and kept drinks full. The ambiance was romantic and cozy all in one. For the price, it was a great deal. You are getting what you pay for here. The steak dinner was well worth the price, but keep in mind, you are getting a $25 value steak here and you are not getting the best steak in your life for this cost. They have other steaks on the menu which may gage better, but the dinner was good for the price and service was good to go along with it. The apple dumpling was not so great, was kind of hard like it was baked too long. Overall, I would suggest coming here to try this place out. Downtown Vegas has great deals such as this hidden gem.

Good downtown choice

By Barbara C |

Contemporary pleasant and surprisingly quite for being right off the casino floor. Service just okay, we should have been checked on a bit more often, water, drinks, bread should have been replaced. Bread and olives on the table were a nice touch. Started with oysters Rockefeller and escargot both perfect. My salmon and friends sea bass were delicious, large portions and prepared tastefully. Yummy side of mushrooms large enough to share. Dessert of Peach Melba was a perfect lite ending. They also serve Lapperts icecream that is enough to bring me back.

A Great Reasonable Fine Dining Experience

By KAUAI-BOY2012 |

I took my brother to this Steakhouse located at the California Hotel. We wanted to eat a fine meal during our stay rather than the cheap usual fare found in the hotel cafe but didn’t want to pay an exorbitant price. The Redwood Steakhouse met this expectation and more. When you first step in to the restaurant, your immediate impression is that this is a fine dining establishment. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and promptly seated to our table. Reservations is highly recommended. The dining area well lit and nicely furnished with comfortable seats. You can actually see what you are eating as I’ve been to other fine dining restaurants where the lighting was too dark. The noise level was good that you didn’t need to shout out to the person across the table from you. Our waiter, Jesus was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu for the day. We shared an appetizer of Tempura Shrimp with Pineapple sauce. The Shrimp was delicious consisting of 5 medium size breaded shrimp. My brother ordered the 32 oz cut Prime Rib medium rare and a baked potato. I ordered the braised short ribs with mash potatoes. We ordered Mac & Cheese and Asparagus as our sides which is served ala cart. The Prime Rib was huge and cooked to perfection per my brother. My Braised Short Rib was tender and good. The Mac and Cheese was more than enough for two. It was cheesy and delicious. The Asparagus wasn’t over cooked. We were two full to eat dessert and we opted not to order any cocktail because we drank too many beers that day. The bill for our fine dining meal was $109.00 without tip. I highly recommended this restaurant and will definitely be dining here at my next visit to Las Vegas. Enjoy!

WONDERFUL

I went here 15 years ago and it was good. Now it is remodeled and even better. The prime rib was outstanding and partner had the seabags which he raved about. Excellent service- would HIGHLY recommend

Down town would it be ok

After a very poor night out and meal at the Bellagio went down town to eat at the Redwood Steakhouse, what a surprise, very nice bar , bar staff outstanding, very nice table, and the staff servers outstanding. Ordered drinks , wine very reasonable, and great taste, starters very good , and mains just great , have the FILLET steak lts great. The servers there all the time could not do enough for you, food came out hot on hot plates and it was wonderful.Would recommend this place to anyone , outstanding.

This restaurant was recommended by someone else staying at the same hotel. SO glad we went, it was excellent!! The service was very professional and the food was awesome. I also found a new wine that I would like to purchase.

excellent food and value

By well2come |

Ate here last week with the family on vacation. We had the porterhouse special, tenderloin and a seafood dish. All were excellent tasting, large helpings and a good value. The only negative was that the bread was a bit hard, but that just meant we couldn't fill up on it and not have room for the excellent meals. Very calm and relaxed atmosphere and we never felt rushed. Would highly recommend it....and the porterhouse special isn't on the menu, so ask for it...it's a great bargain at only $24 for an 18oz porterhouse steak, sides, salad & desert!

A former great value is no longer so. Salad no longer included.

By chiggerdee |

Pasta Pirate, the sister restaurant, closed last year, which was a great value, leaving the Redwood at the main place for steaks. It too was a good value. Within the last few weeks though, they have made changes to no longer include their salad as part of the entree order. It now needs to be ordered separately, at an additional cost. The house salad was always a weak part of their menu, and charging for it now will probably raise a few eyebrows. This is a way of instituting a stealth price increase. I did notice some other items having increased prices, for one, the amazing apple dumpling went up from $7 to $8. I still give them a plus for king crab pricing in the menu, rather than "market price" like many places have.

THE REDWOOD STEAKHOUSE @ THE CAL

By T1133ATclaireh |

If you're looking for a great steakhouse in the downtown Vegas area, this is it! Recently remodeled. Other items besides steak on menu. The bread served before the meal is so yummy, so try not too eat too much of it!!! Service is great.

You would never guess that the California hotel had such a great place to eat. The food is excellent the steaks and prime rib are just fabulous. They are reasonably priced and the service is great. Give this place a try you won't be disappointed .

great food

By Denise T |

Nice little restaurant in the Cal go for the prime rib amazing big portions and good value for money

Slow service on this visit - 30 mins to get check

By NitroDog |

The food was very good, the prices for a fine dining place were great, but it took 30+ mins. to close the final check. I guess they are having the new California Noodle House next store process the checks. Speed it up and teach the cashier how to process a "Comp". We will return, but 30 mins to process a free meal is way too long. I added some recent photos. The Porterhouse Special (now $24) still comes with a 24 oz. Porterhouse Steak, vegetables, potato, bread, soup or salad and dessert. GREAT VALUE!

Very average

By 007Traveling_Man |

Prime rib and cioppino was ok, nothing great. Service was also average. With better food and management this place might make 4 stars.

Favorite place Downtown to Eat!

We always make time to eat here no matter how short of time, it is great dining and fabulous food and wonderful service.

Fabulous Food- sans the celebrity chef!

By DeAnna W |

Fabulous food! If you want awesome food, in a very nicely appointed restaurant, with attentive, friendly service, then give this restaurant a try! Don’t let the fact that it’s in an older casino keep you from coming! The higher priced restaurants associated with chefs are typically over-priced and not that great! Redwood is simple, elegant, quality food at a fair price. It’s a hidden gem of a restaurant!

Mediocre Food and Poor Service

By Whiteout22 |

We were there to celebrate a special occasion as a couple. The wait person was not attentive to our needs. But had time to take photos of other diners. Empty plates not cleared. The food was not outstanding and was very salty. The salad was soggy. Very disappointed as this has never happened here before.

Nice decor--Love the Porterhouse special.Soup or salad shoud not been excluded from other eentres .

By Edwin T |

Everything good--menu, service, presentation. I have had several Prime Rib Dinners that weren't up to par--improperly cooked and very tough and dry even though ordered rare. Waiter told me that is all they had. I was discusted and left--twice.

Don't let the location scare you!

By Jerseygrl9178 |

I have to admit, we were a little worried when we walked into the California hotel to eat here. The place is old and run down - it is hard to believe such an amazing restaurant is tucked inside. The service was excellent from beginning to end. We ordered a bottle of wine (for some reason they are only charging $30 for what is a $50 bottle of wine!). We each had the wedge salad which was delicious! We also each had the 10oz filet mignon (great price) which was excellent. I ordered a side of mashed potatoes - also delicious. My husband had the loaded baked potato. For dessert we had the chocolate layer cake - it was HUGE and SOOOOOO GOOD. I am going to miss that cake. Overall, it was one of the best meals I have ever had and I want to back again already! The prices were also very reasonable, especially in Vegas.

sad :(

By lyle b |

stopped in and had dinner with some friends that were staying at the california hotel --- its your typical downtown dump. The ambiance was 1980s old stake house. the casino dance music piped into the dining room was the only thing worth taking in. there was a drunk group from hawaii on one table and it was loud and not very entertaining. i asked another server if they could bring that table their food; hoping that would fill their orifice, but she just looked at me as if i was the A hole --- i probably was, but whatever. My ribeye steak arrived and as the server placed the obviously less than choice cut of meat before me, he moves in close and whispers: "A1 steak sauce?" : o The A1 sauce would not have saved that cheap cut. It was dry, tastless, tough and over cooked --- total crap! I didn't bother with dessert as I was over it. everyone in our group had nothing good to say about their meal. compared to the strip restaurants, the ingredients here were of extremely poor quality. not eating there again ever.

Great Dowtown Vegas restaurant

By Ihopisland |

3 of us had the Filet and it was amazing. Hubby had the Sea Bass and it was a huge piece of fish. No skimping on the portions. We will definitely return to this when downtown Vegas. The deserts were also very good. We split several of them. Fried oreos and the Apple dumpling with Lamperts salted caramel ice cream.

Drinks were great, service good, food delicious, restaurant beautiful! My husband and I decided to split the 24 ounce prime rib. It was one of the best we've ever had and was really enough for three people. We had the creamed spinach with it which was also delicious. The other member of our party loved is Chilean Sea Bass and was still talking about it two days later. They serve a complimentary bowl of warm olives, lemons and peppers with a fantastic loaf of buttered bread before your meal which is not only unusual but wonderful. No room for dessert -- perhaps next time. Would repeat the same meal again if we visited in the future.

Too Much Food....

By MLMRocksTravel |

We had a reservation for 5:00pm. The doors were open right at 5 and a VERY snoddy hostess was checking in the 3 groups who all had reservations. Really, it was a cold welcome and did not offer a great start, she was looking everyone up and down, then fixing her hair and lipstick throughout the night. We watched her treat everyone coming into the restaurant with the same disdain...especially when they did not have reservations. This was on a Sunday night when they were not that busy! Everything changed from poor to outstanding when we met our waiter, who has been working there since 1988. He was fabulous... As it is a steakhouse, my husband ordered a ribeye, and I had the small prime rib. I had red prior reviews so we split a baked potato. With the help of our server and his assistant, our drinks were never empty and we were checked on numerous times throughout the evening. A warm loaf of bread arrived, and it was already buttered and delicious. An odd assortment of an olive and garlic mixture came out with the bread, we passed on that. We were asked if we wanted more bread, but we were saving room for our dinner. The meat portion was huge!!! We really like steak and can usually finish a major portion of all steaks. I could only eat 1/4 of my prime rib, and it was about 2 inches thick and as big as the plate. It was overcooked on the outside and rare on the inside. Not sure how that happened but it was not great. My husband loved his ribeye and said it was one of the best ever. He still left some as he was so full. The potato was split in the kitchen, and came out with both sides fully loaded....yummy! We heard people come in after us, and they ordered 1 app to share, 1 steak to share and 1 side. Wish we had known that....as we had to waste so much good meat as we were going to a concert, and the bill was really high. The split would have solved all of those issues. So many good steakhouses that I'm not sure we would go back. Mon Amai is our favorite, as is Table 10 for the price fix or Gordon Ramsey STEAK for the best steaks.

Highly recommended

Atmosphere- 5*. Old school Vegas. Love it! Service- 5*. Excellent service from waiter, Jesus, and his assistant. Food- 4*. Very good. Steak was tender, with a little more fat than I would have cared for. Sides were average. Dessert was amazing, beyond creamy ice cream. Value- 4*. Good bang for your $$.

Very nice steakhouse

By jabaang |

Even though I had to send my filet mignon back (tasted like cotton) my husband and I shared his huge ribeye, which was delicious. The olive nibbles were excellent, as was the bread and salad. Also great dessert. It is closed off from the casino, so is quiet and subdued. Fine dining atmosphere.

Expensive Average Dining Experience!

By Bobbi58 |

When we first walked into the restaurant it was fairly empty Saturday evening. It appeared very clean, quiet and intimate. Our party of six sat at a round table and was greeted by a friendly female server. I would not recommend the following: crab Rangoon appetizer: 8 small pieces about size of quarters. Bland, average. We ordered two for table $20.00. Filet steak ordered butterflied, med well, came out well done, tough, tasteless and cold. Baked potato rolling around on plate! Vegetables reminded me of food in a nursing home lol. Presentation, quality of food really below average for the price. I paid for appetizers and my steak dinner :( which I couldn't eat, and 1 glass of wine check $70. Yikes! Chicken looked unappetizing also :( I don't complain at a venue when we're there to celebrate an occasion. PS. I did have some luck in casino there😀

Porkchop + Porkchop + Porkchop

By GreenLakeGirl1 |

One word: Porkchop. The Redwood's big, juicy, perfectly-cooked porkchop is the reason why we return time and time again. Dining room is a bit lackluster -- feels big and boxy, but service is good and they have a decent-priced wine list. We recommend this place to friends that are staying in the DT LV area.

Great End-of-Day Experience

By biochemist |

My first time in this restaurant, although I had been in the California Casino many times. This place deserves some advertising. It certainly is worth kudos; everything one wants in a nice evening meal is here: subdued atmosphere, attentive waiters and attendants, very good food and good timing for it all. And, the prices are reasonable, especially when compared with other places of similar ilk (Hugo's Cellar, e. g.). The servings are generous, which makes it difficult to enjoy an appetizer and/or dessert. The bread is brought out immediately, and it is special. Call ahead; it fills soon after opening.

Nice Thanksgiving

By Kathy C |

We had reservations and were seated on time. That does not usually happen on a holiday in Las Vegas. Our Waiter was nice. The restaurant was crowded. The portions were generous. Even though this is a well known Las Vegas restaurant we had never been there. I picked it based on their Thanksgiving Menu. It was a good choice. I don't think they are open everyday so check before you go.

Excellant Prime Rib

By James J |

The recently renovated restaurant is a great place for a quiet dinner for two or for a birthday dinner for six, which was the reason for my most recent visit. The staff and service were outstanding including a visit from the chef to check on our food. I had my favorite cut of prime rib, the end cut, which was cooked exactly as I wanted and was very tender. My group had dinners ranging from steak to lobster. No complaints on anything. It's a little expensive by some standards but I think quite reasonable for Vegas. I have recommended it before, and with the renovation I believe it is even better than before.

Pretty pricey

By lovevegas63 |

Very pricey. Steak was ok. The portion of potatoes in puff pastry wouldn't have filled up a toddler.

Beautiful renovation , delicious food

By Digger2527 |

Outstanding food and service. Great variety and selection of appetizers and entres. The service was perfect.so attentive and pleasant.

Wait until renovations are complete...then go

By Capthook |

The Redwood Grill is was still under renovation when we went about a month ago, and was temporarily housed in a former restaurant space at Main Street Station. When it's in its own space, the restaurant is fantastic. Great steaks, prime rib, cocktails, and service. While in the temporary location, the food seemed as though it had been cooked somewhere else and brought to the restaurant. Prime rib was overcooked and barely lukewarm. Veggies were soggy. The brewpub at Main Street Station makes a better prime rib meal for half the price. My advice is to wait until the renovations are done at the Cal and then get a reservation. You likely will not be disappointed!

Walked out due to hostess...

By vegasluvr |

Unfortunately, we never actually got the opportunity to eat at this restaurant. We made reservations online and requested a booth. When we arrived at 5:30 for dinner, the hostess was quite rude, but we did have reservations, so she brought us to a booth that was connected to another booth where another couple was already eating and talking quite loudly. My husband and I wanted a nice quiet, private meal, so we asked if we could be seated somewhere else, in a private booth. She pointed to a table in the middle of the floor. Mind you this was 5:30 and the restaurant was nearly empty and the only tables taken were booths, but there was still some empty booths available. When we asked about those, she stated that people had requested them because they wanted a particular server. When I said that the table she pointed to was not acceptable, she walked away and left us standing there, so we walked out. I was not about to allow this hostess to ruin my dinner with my husband. There are too many good restaurants in Las Vegas, to be bothered with such attitudes, so we will not be returning a second time. We had eaten at the Pasta Pirate many times before it closed and loved it, so we were really looking forward to trying this restaurant at The Cal. Very disappointing.

Great steaks & fantastic miso sea bass

By richlz-1 |

Food excellent We had the fillet 10 oz topped with the oscar & the miso sea bass both awesome Jesus was our server & he was fun fast & in general just great, there when you needed him I will make sure I always ask for him We will definitely be back!! Hidden gem in the California Hotel Casino

Amazing Steak at a decent price for Vegas. Very informative and attentive staff.

By amandamarion11 |

Steak was simply amazing. Service was excellent and very knowledgeable. Only thing Americans need to learn is how to do a great peppercorn sauce. With that said, this was my best Vegas meal, I would definitely return.

Nice surprise in a small casino

By Alan S |

I went here with a group of friends and was pleasantly surprised at the excellent food and service. Reservations are recommended because it's rather small and it fills up fast with patrons who know the secret of the Redwood Bar & Grill.

Off the menu porterhouse special

By Irwin T |

Almost deserved 5 stars except for the quality of the porterhouse steak. But what a deal! The off the menu special for $28 you get an 18 oz porterhouse steak, soup or salad and their apple dumpling ala mode dessert. The waitress was outstanding and the servers always had our water and ice tea filled. Although the porterhouse was cooked to a perfect medium-rare with a crisp seared surface the quality of the steak was only average. It was a bit chewy, even the tenderloin portion. Overall it was a very satisfying dinner though.

Great steak and good prices

By Ingvild L |

We were a party of 7 and had the filet mignon and baked potato. We were all really happy about the food and the people working there was very friendly. Can definitely recommend.

Just Okay

By Lauren H |

Came here with husband around 9pm, sat at bar. Ordered a lemon drop martini and a beer, standard. Husband ordered crab cake appetizer and said he loved it. We also ordered raw oysters, big mistake. They were not fresh whatsoever and tasted terrible. Also ordered a wedge salad which was just okay, the blue cheese was about 12 hours from tasting like it spoiled. The bartenders were super friendly though. Didn’t have an entree but there were quite a few tables who seemed to be enjoying themselves. I’d give it a second try though.

Well worth visiting

By Keats1 |

My party of four had dinner here on 10/21/13. I made reservations on line in less than a minute and the host was waiting for us when we arrived. Our group was seated at a booth and the waiter arrived in a matter of seconds. Fresh hot bread and butter was delivered to the table to munch on while perusing the menu. We ordered drinks and decided on what to have. My wife had the shrimp scampi, my cousin had the prime rib and her husband had shrimp and a filet. I asked for the "Special" (it's not on the menu) and I was served a huge porterhouse steak with a baked potato, salad, and an included desert of an apple strudel with vanilla ice cream. The price for the Special is $24.00 and I believe that it's well worth the price. The prime rib served to my cousin was huge. It had to be at least 2 inches thick and she said it was tender and very tasty. Her husband said that his filet was done just right and the shrimp were very large and also very tasty. My wife's dinner had 6 huge shrimp in a bowl of angel hair pasta and she raved about how good everything tasted. I can't tell you about the total for this dinner because my cousin picked up the check and I never got to see it. I suppose that you could go to the California Club - Las Vegas web site and pull up the menu for the Redwood Grill for an idea of prices. I've been to this restaurant a number of times but not lately. I was pleasantly surprised that nothing had changed in the past couple of years and everything was as good or better than I remember it. I'll go back next time I'm in Vegas and if we can meet up with my cousin and her husband, dinner's in me...

Crab legs , Steaks, Seafood.

By George K |

When you enter the Redwood Grill, you immediately know it is a place of fine dining. The hostess & waiter staff provide you w/excellent service. Starting w/ the appetizers , salads or soup, entrees and deserts you will be glad you ate @ this restaurant. On this occasion it was my first time I had wine w/ my meal : the chardonay really complemented the meal. The vanilla ice cream w/the chocolate fudge cake ends a wonderful dining experience. This is a place to enjoy you meal away from the gambling noise. Try the Crab legs.

Great Affordable Steak House

By Rpie99 |

Went with a group of four and really enjoyed the warm spinach salad for starter. Had a NY Strip that was a bit over cooked for the med rare ordered but still a good steak for the price. The room could use an update but all in all a nice meal.

Very generous

By John T |

We celebrated our last night of a nice Vegas vacation at the Redwood Bar & Grill. It was easy to make reservations from my smartphone using Opentable. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere with a wide range of customers. The tables are a little close together but not to the point of being uncomfortable. The staff was very professional and helpful. The portions are large with no small plate options on the menu. We asked that a salad and prime rib be shared by two people and they didn't hesitate to accommodate the request. The halved orders looked like full size orders in other restaurants. We also ordered the bone in ribeye. All of the meat were the right temperature and everything was seasoned well. No complaints except we were too full to try desserts. We look forward to returning to the Redwood the next time we are in Vegas.

40th birthday meal

By Martin H |

What can you say about this place, wow top service all the way through the meal, food was fantastic, can’t rate this place highly enough my third time and hope it’s not my last!! Well done everyone *****

Still a favourite

By Dave P |

Our first visit since the remodel. Nicely updated to a more modern look. The menu is alacart. The garlic mashed potatoes and garden salad are gone and while missed, the sides we chose were excellent. My wife and I shared a large prime rib and between us could not finish it. And it was very good and a perfect medium rare. If you are not a huge eater and can’t take leftovers home sharing may be the way to go. The California hotel may not be the best, but the Redwood is.

Always our favourite

By Dave P |

Never miss a chance to eat here when in Vegas. This is old style Vegas. Formal waiters, traditional old school dinning room and simple dinners, steak, primerib, seafood. Our waiter had been there over 20 years and he did not miss a beat. Go...eat...enjoy. And also it is not very expensive compared to most steak and seafood places in Vegas. Best food, best deal.

One of my favorite restaurants!

By LindsChamp |

Wow! What a great dining experience we had here. It was recommended that we dine here from a friend and it did not disappoint. From the beginning when we received that oh my gosh so good bread warm from the oven with the butter and dipping oil to the end when we shared the yummy apple dumpling with vanilla ice cream..I tell ya, it makes my mouth water thinking about how good it all was. In fact we've already started to talk about our next trip to Vegas so we can go back!

Best Steak Ever

By lovetotravel304 |

This was by far one of the best meals I have ever had. We made a reservation on open book. We were a bit disappointed that we ended up getting seated in the bar area, as the bartender was our waiter. He was very busy, so our service was not fantastic. However, the food was outstanding, and I would highly recommend this place to all travelers!!

Highly recommended by locals!

By 4everBuds |

One of the best restaurants in downtown Las Vegas at the California Hotel! The Redwood is a beautifully designed and decorated restaurant. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary and birthday. We splurged and he ordered a steak and I ordered prime rib with a side of lobster. Both dishes were prepared beyond our satisfaction! And, the desserts?... creme brûlée and carrot cake...and almost got a side of decadent cake! Worth going to the gym for the next few days! Reservations are always a must!

Very good

By chuckhollywood |

We enjoyed the meal very much. The complimentary olives with the bread was such a nice touch. The food was very good and so were the prices. Our waiter Mark was very efficient however, we felt like we were being a little rushed through our meal. Also, it would have been a little nicer if he had smiled at least once.

Great place and value!

By Eddie R |

Been here many times. The food and the service is excellent. The porterhouse special (not on menu) is the best deal in town. a 3 course meal for 25 bucks! Beers are not overpriced. Always enjoy my visits here. Highly recommend.

Hidden Gem Alert!!!!

By Diego M |

Pineapple Shrimp was amazing. Steaks and chops cooked perfectly. Service on point. Here is the kicker - best wine prices in Las Vegas. Silver Oak $72 and Caymus $80. Insane prices

Very tasty!

By Mary G |

Enjoyed the filet and salmon. The baked potato was HUGE and very tasty! Also had the mac and cheese, creamed corn, and creamed spinach. Enjoyable last meal before heading back home with the family. Very easy to find.

Fantastic dinner

By Terri R |

We had a fantastic dinner at Redwood Steakhouse. We started with escargot, then prime rib and asparagus. Finished with some of the best crenels brûlée ever. Service was great and all the food was delicious.

Good and not too expensive

By Goingplaces98 |

Located in the California hotel in downtown, which is a Hawaiian themed hotel, including this steakhouse. Good steaks, and even better breads. The prime rib is a good choice, which does say something about this steakhouse. Not quite the absolute best, but a good choice when you don't want to drop $100 a head. You'll do about $60-75 here with drinks and apps. To be honest I liked this one a little better than Andiamos which is very close by also in downtown, that's kind of overrated by Tripadvisor.

Great food at a great price

By Annabelle O |

My girlfriends wanted a nice dinner at a reasonable price in Vegas. Cab driver recommended Fremont Street. After doing some research, Redwood Bar & Grill had steaks, fish, and chicken all for under $30. Entrees included sides and soup or salad. In addition they have a nice wine list with prices that made it easy to add a bottle with dinner. I definitely plan to return on my next Vegas trip.

Amazing! Have to eat here but it's a bit pricey.

By Robyn808 |

Start off with bread baked with butter and a relish dish with pickled vegetables. Spinach salad was amazing and the French onion soup was huge and yummy! Not too salty and very flavorful. 1 lb crab was very good but was kinda cold, which was fine because the butter was hot. My bf had the prime rib which was as big as what Fred Flintstone would have gotten. He couldn't finish it and we brought it home to Hawaii which was still very amazing! Cheesecake with strawberries was sooooo good. Creme Brûlée was amazing too.

This place has awesome food

By rattlerUT |

We visited on Monday August 12th 2013, I ordered exactly what is shown in the picture. My husband has the Crab Legs. The food was great but cold, the reason it was cold is "Brian" our waiter (if you can call him that) left it on the serving tray waiting yes waiting and then he want to find the buser to remove our salad plates. What a lazy peice of crap. He also kept us waiting to pay forever...he would not do anything that was out of his job. He holdered at the busser more water at table XX. The food is awesome at this place but that server was the worst ever.

Nice steak, good atmosphere

By DavidJ298 |

My buddy and I went here one night for steaks. The California Casino is a little different in that it caters to folks from Hawaii, but this steak house was right out of the 60s -- big slab of prime rib, nice sides, good service, casual room. Prime rib was one right; shrimp cocktail was nice and the service was good.

Great Food & Value!!!

By Shar S |

This is my 2nd time eating at Redwood and had spot on meals both times! I had their ahi-tuna which was a great app and my table all had filets which were amazing and cooked perfectly! Their loaded baked potatoes were awesome, they brought out cups of real bacon, cheese, and sour cream so you could fully "load" it!! Great service on our drinks, will definitely be making this place a part of downtown experience!

Best steak house in Vegas

By Steven W |

Have a friend who lives in Vegas that took me and my wife to Redwood steakhouse inside the California hotel. Had one of the best dining experience ever. From being seated to leaving the restaurant was excellent. The service was awesome and the food even better. I ordered the New York steak which was one of the best steak ever and the wedge salad was delicious. Can’t forget about the free bread and olives, to die for. My wife had the Miso Sea Bass which she loved. We will definitely be back =]

Great! Great! Great!

By steve h |

Tucked away in the old California hotel and casino in downtown Las Vegas this restaurant is a true gem. My wife and I couldn't deceide what to order so we both went for the $24.99 PORTERHOUSE SPECIAL. We hit the Jackpot! For starters, a nice hot loaf of bread and a very fresh salad, followed by a nice sized porterhouse cooked perfectly with steamed vegetables and a huge baked potatoe. This was followed up by a freshed baked apple tart for dessert. I also have to say that Hidalgo and his assistant were always checking in with us, bringing more bread and making sure that we were very happy. This was our first stop on our 4 day Vegas trip and the best meal of our trip.

Old favorite (definitely one of the best in LV)

By Garnerz |

Been going here since the 80's. Taste the wonderful flavors, delight in the drinks while the prices are extremely reasonable. Love the Mai Tai and Margarita!

Wonderful food Very Poor service

By Josie S |

I was looking forward to finally going to the casino and eating as it is an old school casino and was hoping to get some of the old Vegas feel on our anniversary. The food was magnificent; prime rib big as you could imagine, the french onion soup the best i ever had, escargot bursting of flavor. However, We received our appetizers before our drinks and we had not even ordered our entree. We had to keep flagging people down to help us but none seemed interested passing us off. It was a weeknight and the restaurant was half empty so the staff was not in demand. It took us over two hours from sitting down to receive our meal and we were very close on leaving. I never got my second glass of wine and the check was dropped off fast without even checking on us.
