Almost the worst

By Phil |

I ordered a pizza, and it was the second-worst pizza I've ever had, and I've ordered a lot of pizza. I was hungry, but I didn't finish it. The dough was undercooked to the point of almost being raw. The sausage didn't taste very fresh.

Always packed!

By Owlisn |

Good pizza, needs to be a bigger space. There is not always somewhere to sit.

Not Going Back!

By lalfordduran |

We called in an order to pick up. It was on a Sunday around 2:30 pm. Figured that a Sunday at that time wouldn't be too crowded, but decided to call ahead so we wouldn't have to wait. Was told it would be ready in 30 minutes. Arrived at Regents about 30 minutes later and went to the pick up area. No eye contact or greeting from the cashier. Just a, "What's your name?" I was told I would have to wait 10 minutes. 20 minutes go by. Still not ready. The place was crowded with probably UCSD students. Felt like you were on the UCSD campus. Waited some more, then asked for a refund. The cashier said she had to get the manager to come over and punch some data in the register so I could get a refund. Manager walks over. No eye contact. No "I'm sorry". Didn't say a word to me.He enters in the information and walks away. Couldn't care less. The cashier was nice. She said, "Sorry you had to wait". Not going back there. Leucadia Pizzeria has better food and a real neighborhood feel with people from all walks of life, a more diverse demographic, and lots of long time locals. Go to Regents if you like being part of the UCSD vibe, if you like noise and crowds, if you don't mind waiting a LONG time, and if you don't care they employ a bunch of indifferent, unfriendly, probably quite overworked and burned out management and staff. (Except for one lady).

Deliciousness

By esilvaa16 |

One of the best places for pizza, salad, wings and even they're soup is pretty amazing! Can't go wrong with anything on they're menu really... they're deep dish pizza is a Must!

Great beer selection just ok food

By cdab |

In a row of restaurants near to the La Jolla Marriott. Was very busy early evening with local workers and students. A mixture of self service and table service. The food was just ok, very much like a typical food court pizza and pasta operation found in malls throughout the country. What was unusual was the great selection of craft beer on offerI really didn't expect that. Beer was great, the atmosphere was buzzing and lively and the food was just ok. Quite expensive overall but good beer is worth spending a little bit more to find.

A little gem that is incredible

By wkrupa |

This is a gem we discovered via the internet while searching for a pizza place near San Diego, and what a find it was. This was some of the best pizza I found while out there and it will stand up to any pizza you can find back here on the east coast. Get the 18" with any toppings and you will not be dissappointed. It was so good we went back a second time. Plan on standing in line during the rush times because this little gem gets packed, but trust me it is well worth standing for five to ten minutes. They also have a decent beer selection both in bottle and draft.

Obsessed with their deep dish pizza!

By Fernanda C |

Looking for pizza, beer and a chill out yet fun place to go? Reagents is your place. From cheese sticks, salads, pizza and beer from different breweries, you will order from the cashier and the barmen are nice enough to let you sample some beers. The only downside is that seating is limited, and getting a table can take a while specially on Friday nights.

Delicious food!

By boymomdfw |

Excellent pizza, wings and salad! We had a great dinner at Regents. Everything was tasty and came out in a timely fashion. You can get your parking validated so don't worry!

Top Pizza

By Eric |

One of the best NY style pizza I've had. The combination with delicious pizza and a great beer selection was perfect. Will definitely go again.

Noisy; unusual beer selection; runny pizza

By jim727 |

We used to love Regents Pizza until a year ago when they expanded. They must have new owners because everything has changed: a. Went from pretty good bbq chicken pizza with plenty of cubes of chicken...now the pizza has runny sauce, two small cubes of chicken per slice, and doughy/soggy crust. The larger eating area is very noisy; you have to yell to talk to someone next to you; you literally cannot talk to the person across the table from you. Among their 30 beers on tap, they did not have one hefeweizen such as (Shock Top, Blue Moon) nor any popular beers such as Stella, Coors, or Bud. Parking is impossible with the larger crowds. We're not coming back.

Loved the Pizza by the Slice Combo

By TripsTipsAndTees |

Each person in my family likes a different kind of pizza, so we enjoyed the combo with 2 slices of pizza and a soda. I had one piece New York style and one Chicago style. Both were good but I liked the Milano New York style best.

Great pizza, great for take-out

By SaskNan |

We were feeling lazy and was in mood for some pizza - and this place certainly makes some of the best pizza ever!! Thin crust, perfect amount of sauce and cheese - and great selection of topping combinations. Their garlic twist is so so so good - make sure you get some of these - we wished we had ordered more of them!!

Terrific pizza

By Gregg C |

Their food is outstanding and the service was quick and very friendly. The Meat Lovers pizza was the best! And we loved their wings also. This place is popular at lunch and dinner (lines out the door), so be prepared. Great list of beers also.

Best pizza in utc/lajolla prolly san diego

By Shruti t |

Always loved their pizzas, beer. Again lil premium priced but taste and ingredients are premium too i guess. Always had the best tasting pizzas. Recently tried their appetizers and loved their fried jalapeños

Holy yum!

By Melissa E |

Although 30 bucks for a pie may seem like a lot, it isn't when it's an authentic chitown style pizza that will feed 4 people. It's really exceptional! Give it a whirl!

Reminds me of Italy

By Jilldavis1 |

My husband and I enjoyed Regents pizza on our vacation. It is at the top of my list next time we are in the San Diego area. It was delicious. Sharing a pizza with a glass of wine made a very fun date.

Best Pizza UTC area

Great pizza, great atmosphere

By Yasser A |

The staff was very helpful, the food was so good and different than other pizzerias in a good way. It's good for friends/family dinners. Good times

Best of Both Worlds

By Imminc |

Read about this place a while back and finally did the one hour drive from northeast San Diego county. Was it worth it...? YES. Regents has put together a great combination of NY style thin crust and Chicago style deep dish. I am from Chicago and I have searched hard and long to find a “real”, quality, Chicago deep dish. Rosati’s does a credible job, but nothing compared to Regents. Regents follows a style I would say is similar to Giordano’s (also Chicago), but then, I’d have to say, surpasses G’s, basically by making a better quality crust and not so much cheese that you slip into a cheese coma or where the cheese simply over powers the other ingredients. Regents also uses high quality products across the board and the taste proves it out. I had a deep dish Meat Lovers first time I went, drove home - one hour, and invited two friends over to try it... it didn’t last long. Second time I went with two friends, I ordered the meat lovers again, they ordered a thin crust pepperoni and sausage and we ate it there. While waiting I tried a Vienna Lager (amazing, very close to a true Munich style lager). I ate one piece of mine and then tried one of their thin crust slices... wow, now I’m going to have trouble deciding which I like better... it’s also better to eat them there if you can. My last time, I picked up a pepperoni/sausage/onion thin crust and a deep dish pepperoni, meatball and 1/2 jalapeños, should have gotten jalapeño on all of it. Took them to my girl friends house where we reheated and tried both. She’s never had a deep dish before and once trying it she refused to even look at the thin crust... no fair cause the thin crust really is very very good. I know Regents has a menu with other items on it, but I just don’t see myself going there and not ordering pizza! Btw - large beer selection and the ones I’ve had were great and I’m not really a micro-brew fan either. Also, these two pizzas combined were $79 and worth every bite. there’s a charge for parking but they validate for an hour. They also sell by the slice, have gluten free pizzas (with a qualifier) and are pretty friendly on top of it all. Don’t take my word, go try it!

Great for a slice or some wings

By TechnoGuppy |

I had some chicken tenders with my range of hot sauce on them. They don't have sauces per se, more like ranges of heat! Which I thought was great. Busy but pleasant. It's a sit and wait for your meal to arrive by number type place which is fine. It comes quick, and is served hot. You can get true deep dish pizza if you like or really think New York style pizza and they have an extensive beer selection to satisfy any palate.

Not worth the trip

By John P |

I grew up on Long Island and I am an admitted pizza snob. I heard good things about Regents from a co-worker so we decided to make a trip up from the south bay. This is an order at counter and sit down type of place, it was quite busy. A significant amount of space was devoted to bar/beer. We wanted a change up so we ordered a Chicago deep dish (vegie) and two NY pepperoni slices. The wait for the deep dish was 45 minutes which wasn't unexpected. When the pie came it looked great but the slices looked dry and overcooked. The deep dish crust was uncooked - the crust on top and the bottom were raw inside. There was also a lot of water in the pizza - probably from the vegies. The sauce was somewhat insipid. Major disappointment. The slices, which my daughter ordered, were dry and tasteless. We should have brought it back up but given how long it took and how disappointed we were, we just left. We've had much better deep dish at Lefty's. For us, not worth the trip back up to try again, based on other reviews this may have been an off night for Regents.

Expensive, but good.

By Gordie D |

Alright, well after we looked at the menu and we were told that any food would be over 30 minutes to cook so we almost walked out, it was quite expensive and we were ultra hungry. Boy I'm glad we decided to grab a slice of pizza on the way out, the flavor of the pepperoni pizza was Sooo good, the smoky woodfired crust and the flavorful toppings, I even mentioned to my wife "this is the best pizza I've ever tried" so it very well could have been the hunger talking, but we honestly thought the pizza was worth every penny.

Great Place to Have A Group

By Michael L |

I went here with a large group of co-workers, and had a great time! We were served quickly and courteously, and the food was fantastic. The outdoor seating was also beautiful and comfortable. The parking is free on weekends, although I believe you have to pay if you plan on going during the weekday. Also, it is a little expensive, but not horribly so. If you're out on a casual date or out with a group of friends, I'd recommend Regents!

Good but not cheap.

By chsnhvn |

We ate as a family here in February. The pizzas are first class but the cost will give you sticker shock. The deep dish was really good but the thin crust was my favorite. We had pepperoni on it and it was one of the best pizzas I have ever had. We also ordered chicken wings...they too are not cheap; but very good. Nice set up at this restaurant but it is in La Jolla. I can only assume there rent is nuts! But that thin crust....OH SO GOOD!

Paying for the location, not the food.

By Hector L |

I wish they were somewhere with cheaper rent so they could charge less and the food might be worth it.

Great pizza in plain surrounding

By JaC |

The pizza is very good, and reasonably prices. The place is small and not very attractive. However, the wall photos are interesting and the background jazz music is a nice departure from the usual.

Decent Pizza, good selection of beer.

By John S |

Good pizzeria that appears to be popular with UCSD students in the area. Excellent selection of beers. Service was good.

Well Worth a Visit

By RichT529 |

Well worth a visit to this friendly restaurant. Both the Chicago- and New York-style pizzas are excellent at this small but popular pizzeria. My spinach calzone was one of the best I’ve ever had! We went late on a Saturday evening and there still many customers, although we were able to get a table outside.

Loooooooove those NY floppy thin crust pizzas!!

By MannyH |

Had such a great experience there. The food was just great we had to order twice for our 2 night stay at the near by Embassy Suites. The first we were going to get it to go but decided to eat our piping hot pie right there. The staff there was just great. Then on the next night we kept thinking about where to order or to go out to eat but decided to spend $30 bucks on Regents again for deliver to our hotel. Much cheaper than say a $60 - $90 waiting in line restaurant. As we where going to our hotel lobby someone else had ordered from them for delivery and the delivery guy was just jolly talking to us. Seating at the place is tight and wait times can be long depending when order.

Great deep dish pizza and draft beer

By Gourmang |

Good choices of deep dish and regular pizza (slices, combo and whole), plus about 25+ different beers on tap. Nice service staff, very helpful and friendly. Loud atmosphere due to concrete floors.

Great pizza, worth the drive!

By Alicia K |

This pizza place wasn't what I expected at all. When we pulled up, it appeared to be in an office building. But it looked and new and up to date on the inside. The pizza was amazing! I had the hot sopressata (not really spicy) NY style pizza, house salad, and garlic knots. Get the garlic knots!!! Everything was delicious and I can't wait to go back!

great family restaurant with caring staff

By globalMarriotttravel |

The food wonderful and the service was great. The manager on duty came by to chat which was an added bonus. Great Pizza, pasta, salads and an awesome beer selection wish they come to LA.

Worth a Stop!

By Lizadvisor21 |

Found this place on Tripadvisor and tried it for myself, I was really satisfied with the taste and quality of the pizza. I had a New York style pepperoni pizza with chicken tenders very delicious! You must try this place if you are in La Jolla.

Best Pizza in San Diego

By JPTSd2014 |

This is the best Pizza in San Diego. Im from Chicago and I have to say this place would be 5 stars even in Chi-Town. New modern well laid out space to boot. Great for families or even date night.

Very good deep dish pizza

By db7477 |

We stopped for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed a shared salad and deep dish pizza... Both were very good and two slices was my limit. We will return. Recommend asking the restaurant to validate your parking slip... $1/20 minutes to park in the (La Jolla) lot.

Outstanding pizza

By Maureen M |

We have been to Regents Pizza several times and it has never disappointed but last week we ordered the Pizza Pazzo which is a white pizza with pancetta. We added sausage and it was absolutely heavenly. Scrumptious mixture of flavors and the crust is perfection. They also have a wonderful beer selection. This is a very casual and sometimes loud place where you order at a counter. You don't come here for the fine dining but the pizza is hard to beat.

Great Deep Dish Pizza and Beer

By Goldbruin84 |

Incredible Chicago style deep dish pizza. The Italian veggie was outstanding. Fun atmosphere with a great selection of craft beers. Look forward to our next visit.

Excellent pizza

By Tipseetraveler |

Crust is thin, but not too thin with great flavor. Ordered a veggie which came with eggplant and zucchini and onions. Great pizza... Would definitely go back. Gets busy so go early if you have a large group! My daughter who is a picky eater ordered the spaghetti with meatballs. She said the meatballs were spicy so if you have kids you may want to skip those.

Quite A Surprise

By berniez |

Honestly, went here because a delivery man was walking through the apartment complex as we were leaving and it smelled so good. We were not disappointed. Had the New York style pepperoni with grilled peppers and onions. Just the right amount of sauce that tasted like it had been bubbling for hours. Good tap beer choices. The table next to us got the wings and they also smelled incredible. It is seat yourself and it does get crowded but trust me when I say it is worth the wait. This will become a staple when visiting UCSD.

Great New York Style Pizza and fantastic selection of beers on tap

By JBakersfield |

They have two styles of pizza, New York and Chicago. The New York style is authentic. Can buy by the slice or a whole pie. Great beer selections and the two slices and draft craft beer price is fantastic.

Deep dish pizza in San Diego!

By runningman61 |

I walk past this location every day going to and from work. It is always busy with a lot of students dining there in the evening. I asked my daughter about it, and she said it was great and we should try it. Easier said than done! My wife and I lived in Chicago for 4 years while attending grad school, and as poor students we subsisted on deep dish pizza in what is generally acknowledged as THE Deep Dish pizza capital in the world. So our standards were high and expectations low. But were we pleasantly surprised! Reagents Pizzeria deep dish was the real thing! Very authentic to Chicago deep dish, extremely tasty with a great crust and fresh fillings. Sammy's is another great pizza restaurant, but for deep dish, our choice is Reagents Pizzeria! Thank you for existing.

Great Pizza and huge selection of beer

By Cori R |

Loved the New York style pizza with a nice tangy sauce. Not too much cheese or overkill of toppings which is how I like my pizza. The beer selection is great and I had fun trying different brews. The bartenders were knowledgeable about the beers and friendly. Visiting for the weekend and liked it so much our group went twice. Very casual walk up and order with both indoor and outdoor patio seating. Long tables with lots of space. Highly recommend for pizza and beer lovers. They had hot wings and Chicago style pizza but I did not try those.

Wow!!

By LARS101 |

Very impressed by the pizza ehre, we got the New York style, which wash delicious, but they also offer Chicago style deep dish which looked yummy too but takes longer to make! Great artisan beer selections! Will definitely be back!

Great Pizza and Beer!

By welc0149 |

The pizza and beer here is very good. They have a good atmosphere and the service has been good the times I have been there. The parking can be a challenge but it usually is not too bad. Highly recommend this place.

Thick "oroginal" Chicago pizza but overpriced.

By SeenTheLight |

Pizza was thick and delicious but one would think a 3 topping 10" pizza should not cost $30.00! Then to pay for parking made visit not worth returning.

Best pizza in san diego? Maybe, very maybe!

By roddyosullivan |

great crust, great toppings. The seasonal fig and pig pizza is legendary round our way! the chicago meatlovers is huge and delicious. They also have a very good selection of beers both local and national.

Good pizza - quite pricey

By Saoirse O'Callaghan |

The pizza was fine - nice little spot to be honest. Although, I found it to be quite expensive for what it was.

Great craft beer collection, good, but not great pizza.

By TexasNorthTraveler |

This pizzeria has the feel of a neighborhood hangout that just happens to be across the street from a huge Marriott hotel. Pizza was very adequate, but overpriced for a "serve yourself" pizza place. The highlight of the place was the 2 dozen or so craft beers on tap.

Was tired from a full day in San Diego...

By jmone |

Was tired from a full day in San Diego and juat wanted to stay in and they delivered at the Hyatt. Great pizza and fast delivery! Wish they had pizza this good where I'm from!

Authentic and delicious Pizza place

By Ronan H |

I loved the place, the setup and atmosphere. The appetizers we tried were all delicious and tasty. Both the New York style and Chicago style pizza we ordered were delicious! We could not stop eating.. The beer selection is great too. This place is our new favorite pizza place to go to!

Good pizza, good atmosphere

By eperez415 |

Second time here. The pizza is really good, both the deep dish and the regular style. The garlic twist things are really good too. We brought the kids but it seems much more of an adult spot. They validate parking also

Excellent

By A G |

The pizza is delicious! It can get crowded during dinner time, but they are usually pretty fast. Highly recommend the Chicago-style pizza!

Great pizza!

By Sal91106 |

Was on my way home with the family from San Diego, and decided to try this place since I had read some great reviews and boy they were right!! The pizza was so delicious. The NY style was ok, but the meat lovers Chicago style was the best. The pictures also made the pizza look so great that we had to try it. I also have to say, the service was excellent and the restaurant was really nice for me us and the kids. Honestly, when were on our way to San Diego, were gonna make it a habit of stopping here for a quick bite! ITS WORTH IT! You have to try it. However, I lived in Chicago, so nothing beats that, :) but this is the closet to it! :)

Great Pizza

By riskman |

We were looking for a pizza place near our hotel and found this place, the Pizza is excellent. One word of caution if you want the deep dish, order ahead of time and they will have it ready for you because it takes about 20 min or so to make. The staff was very friendly, the menu extensive, not a lot of ambiance and it is not a big place. It is in a strip mall on a side street near some hotels so I guess it can become busy, it wasn't too bad when we were there. We ordered individual slices and a salad. My wife and I both really enjoyed the pizza.

Really good food, very casual accomodation

By Volvodadfast |

Roasted goat cheese salad was exceptional and thin crust pizza was very good. There is good selection of beers on tap. Tastefully decorated but furnishing is still pretty much what you expect in a pizzeria. I wish it was a little more comfortable.

Chicago deep dish, meat lover!

By Qing G |

Their Chicago deep dish pizza is amazing! Especially the meat lover! It's a really big pizza, I can eat one for a day. The appetizers are just so so, more like bar food. I once had their buffalo chicken wings, cold or even icy inside. Maybe they are just too busy baking pizza, and didn't have time to work on those wings.

Yummalicious

By Sammie259 |

We stopped in after reading a lot of positive reviews and we were not disappointed. We ordered a Chicago style pizza topped with bacon, ricotta, onion and garlic. Was delicious. We love how they layer the crust , toppings and cheese so it’s not just one thick layer of crust with toppings on top. Since we had to wait 40 minutes for the pizza which is typical for a Chicago , we decided to get some sides. We got mozzarella sticks and truffle fries. Our entire meal was delicious and we will definitely stop in again when in town.

Pretty Nice

By pllara16 |

The place is nice, the food is good, and the service is outstanding. I loved the buffalo wings! Just the perfect level of sauce and perfectly crispy, one of the best I've had. If you order a Chicago style pizza, be prepared to wait about 40 minutes, so its not the place if you are in a hurry. But it's a good place to spend a good time with friends or family or both, we didn't try the beers but they do have a great selection. I would say the only down side is that it is a little expensive in my opinion, but if you got the time and the money, I really do recommend this place.

Things to know

By tikiznbamboo |

First off there is the paid parking. The signage about this could be clearer. If you do not want pay for parking, get your ticket validated. Second there is the posted menu and the names of their pizza. You literally have to ask about every little thing. Like, what are you charging for that? Otherwise you end up paying an extra two bucks for a soft drink you didn’t want and getting a salad with dressing you didn’t want and pizza that seemed meatless but was not. This place is supposed to be a top pizza joint. The deep dish pizza was hard crusted and actually drier than the NY style. The NY style was good. But not very cheesy. The salad dressing was super sour. All in all an average experience with decent NY style pizza.

Good chicago deep dish pizza.

By Hoofmark |

Good pizza pain in the butt to park. We go there off hours. Friendly, busy, authentic, good value. Few outside seats, mostly inside and set for fast turnover. Good selection of Chicago and NY style foods. Original owner passed and family carrying on.

Good pizza and beer

By Creigh L |

Three of us had pizza and beer on a Sunday around noon. Had new York style pizza and Ipa. Nice atmosphere and staff. Would definitely go again.

Quick meal while at Surf Cup Soccer Tournament

By Kristín N |

We ordered to go and it took less than 10 minutes we were good to go. Luckily parking is free on Sundays. Definitely crazy pizza even on a Sunday. I ordered the Rigatoni Chicken Pesto (Grilled chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts & rigatoni in a pesto cream sauce, topped w/ feta cheese). It was very delicious. The garlic knots were very good. My son had fettuccine Alfredo and a slice of pepperoni pizza. The pizza wasn’t special but then again we come New York State. I can’t imagine on a busy night I’d go but on off hours it was quick and easy. Pictured below is the Chicken pesto dish and the garlic knot.

I would fly across country for Regent's.

By Matthew |

We are from Boston and went to Regents during a weekend stay in La Jolla. My daughter's soccer team played 3 games in the area. And I must say, the area is beautiful. Regent's was a short walk from the hotel so we figured we'd give them our business. I am so glad we did! For starters, we ordered fries, garlic knots, wings, and buffalo cauliflower. The cauliflower was unexpectedly awesome - a lightly battered treat with a little zing! And the french fries are positively superb. I might fly across the country again just to eat more. Next we enjoyed 3 pizzas - 2 New York style: a Margherita pizza and a Dominic's pizza. The Margherita was amazing; it tasted so fresh. And the tomato sauce on the Dominic's was better than what I've raved about in New York. And one Chicago style: a Master pizza which was excellent and quite filling. That pizza seemed to slow down the order, so I'm glad were ordered so many apps. Restaurant was clean and comfortable. Service was really good; even though it was super busy, they did a great job keeping up.

BEST pizza in San Diego

By Emily B |

Regents Pizzeria has the best pizza in San Diego. We love that we live walking distance from this place. There are so many pizza places to choose from but literally this restaurant is amazing. You can't go wrong with NY style or Chicago. I love the Popeye Chicago style pizza, and I also highly recommend the Milano, 4 cheese and veggie. Try them all and Enjoy! They have so many beers on tap too. Best date night spot for pizza and beer!

Great versions of deep - dish & thin crust.

By wardwells |

The food quality is great & revolving beer selection has 30 choices. A former Chicagoan, I love the deep dish that's heavy with cheese & great sauce. You can also add oregano, garlic powder, parmesan to it & pasta dishes at the table. Had to leave off one star for noise-don't try to have an easy converstion.

Tiny Place - Great Traditional Pizza - Good Feel

By Tamara B |

This pizza shop is in a strip mall and I avoided it for years. However finally went in last month. It is great. Pizza is terrific and the place has real authentic neighborhood feel. The counter guy is funny and personable. I love the place.

Awesome deep dish...

By Mike S |

I used to work close to this restaurant and went over there 2-3 times per year. It was always great but I didn't realize how great until I went to Chicago. Of course we had to try the "famous" pizzerias in Chicago and in my opinion, Regents BLOWS THEM AWAY!!

Great pizza and beer

By Richard H |

What more can you ask for? Buy a slice, buy a whole pizza!!! New York style or Chicago deep. Plenty of topping choices. Nice selection of beers on tap and good service. Pretty busy place but not hard getting a seat.

Regents Pizza is the real deal!!!!!

By moshe l |

Chicago style is the best and the NY is off the hook. Do not look for any other pizza place. It is small inside but packs a real wallop! Do not hesitate. I am a foodie with cooking experience and I used to work at Pizza places as a kid. You cannot go wrong with regents. 45 minute wait for a Chicago style but worth every minute. Enjoy!

First visit

By chuber |

While I'm not one who typically looks forward to eating in a stucco strip mall setting, it was time to try Regent's given all the great things I've heard. And it was a rewarding experience. Excellent assortment of pizzas and other foods. Carmelized goat cheese salad was fantastic as was the white pizza. Wifi and TV available. Service was prompt, food was hot and one of the owners even stopped by our table to make sure our meal was going well. Are miss that true ownership touch. Classy move and much appreciated. Guess I won't judge all restaurants by their location anymore - although I do hope the strip mall scene fades back someday to standalone businesses touting their individuality.

I regret not eating here often during my time at UCSD

By Antriksh Y |

I ordered pizza once from this place when I was new to the area and my experience wasn't all THAT great. So I never ate there, even though all my friends kept talking about it. Then I gave it another chance, and fell in love with their pizza. I am vegetarian, and they have quite a few options that cater to me. I almost always opt for their NY-style "Dominic's" though. The thing that keeps bringing me back is their pricing for pizza by slice. One (huge) NY-style slice runs me under $5, which is very rare. Slices are quite big. Eating two makes me feel bloated. This place is designed really well too. Everything from their color scheme and lighting to the font they use on their menus looks pretty. Music can get a bit loud in the evenings, though. I don't drink, so I can't speak about their bar. I'll really miss Regents Pizzeria when I leave San Diego.

great pizza in a fun place

By Sophie |

Great atmosphere, good selection of pizza and pasta. I had a slice of veggie pizza and a glass of wine but there's a large choice of beers from local breweries. Beware the wings, they are very hot!

Greta New York style pizza

By Francesco R |

The Margherita is superb, the ingredients are always top notch and the variety of beers is a great compliment to the dinner or lunch.

Horrible Service

By Sal A |

If you don't care how you get treated or wait hours for your food, then this is the place for you. Horrible, horrible, horrible customer service (too sad, the pizza is decent, but if you don't care about being treated like you don't matter when things go wrong, then this is the place for you) . I called them at 5:19 pm and ordered 2 pizzas by 5:29. They mentioned that it will be ready by 6:45 pm the latest. I then asked the person (Selena) whom tookuu my order, if they can get my order ready by 6:30, because I'm pressed for time, she put me on hold and came back to let me know that they can't do by 6:30, but promised me that it will be ready by 6:45. I got there at 6:26 and informed the manager on duty that I was pressed for time and needed to make sure that my order was almost ready. At 6:30, he came back to tell me that my order is "not even dressed yet", so it's not even been worked on yet. So I explained my situation to the manager AGAIN (2 hungry kids in the car and I have to be in Chula Vista by 7/715 (latest). When I asked for an update at 6:40, he said they are just starting to get it ready Wow???!!! -5:29, I told them, I need them to make sure my order doesn't fall behind. -6:26, I told them that I'm pressed for time. -I emphasized that again at 6:40, and my pizza went in the oven at 7:52. I got pretty frustrated and then realized that this manager kept approaching another person at the restaurant and when my order was finally ready at 7:05 pm (started at 5:19 pm). I then approached that person and come to find out he was the senior manager (Gen ASM) in the building and my urgent need for my order was addressed with him and he kept blowing it off. The moment I began to talk to him, he got pretty rude and he refused to give me his boss's name. I heard someone call him Danny/Daniel (?). I soon realized that I was his power trip of the day/evening (he needed to tell someone off, so he can feel good about himself). He was unprofessional and basically told me that I could F-off and not take the pizza, if I'm not happy. At no time did I raise my voice or yell at anyone, but he kept telling me that, "I don't have to give you any info" over and over . He continued to ignore me and refused to give me the GM's name, once I told him that I was planning to call the GM and the owner to complain about the service. . Even though the first managers inaction from 6:26 until 5:52 was not right, but at least he was professional and acknowledged my grievances although no action taken. I've been eating there for a while and after last night, I will never return to the store again. For the first time tonight, I ordered an extra pizza for my cousin and after last night and the wait, he told me that he will stick to his regular shop by the Cove. When managers feel like they have no one to answer to and for, then more than likely the establishment doesn't really care about their customers and it's a cultural store issue and I'm not going to spend money where a establishment just cares about money and no accountability for service.

Awesome Pizza and More!

By Krivokrasov |

We had a great meal at Regents Pizzeria. They serve both Chicago-style and NY-style pizza, though the NY one was better in my opinion. They also had some very good salads and other assorted items. Price was reasonable as well - definitely worth a visit!

Do not trust this restaurant

Price on receipt differed from credit card charge. What the credit card charged me was more than the receipt I signed for

The pizza was amazing. The outside seating is great! I highly recommend the pizza by the slice with a nice cool beer.

Fraudulent Pizza Business Practice - Serving Old Stale Pizza

By Ted W |

Buyer Beware at Regents Pizzeria La Jolla. Don't be stupid like me, MAKE SURE AND CHECK YOUR PIZZA BEFORE LEAVING !! I ordered a pizza to be picked up for takeout, The Brooklyn Pizza was ready way before it was supposed to be ready. Unfortunately I did not check it and when I got home it was ice cold and the crust was stale and hard. My family was NOT Happy. This Pizza HAD BEEN MADE MANY HOURS AGO ! I spent $39 dollars for a fresh pizza that was actually made several hours before and the pizza had dried sauce, Hard old crust, and dried cracked cheese and this process of selling old pizza to unwary take-out customers is known to the cook, front line staff and the manager. This is Pizza Fraud pure and simple. You pay for a nice fresh pizza and you get a pie that has been stilling around all day, sitting on that rack in the customer area, during COVID, and that someone ordered and did not pick up so You get stuck with it. That is just WRONG. Beware of this current business practice at Regents Pizza in La Jolla.

Great deep dish

By BE_Travelin |

Dig their deep dish pizza. This place isn't a bargain price pizzeria, and they could use to put more toppings on their NY pizza for the price. But the quality is good and quite tasty. Note to the owners/managers- be consistent with which condiments you put in which shaker. I hate dumping garlic salt when I think it's Parmesan cheese!! Get your staff to use the yellow tops for the same topping throughout the restaurant.

Close to UCSD and La Jolla Playhouse

By Snorris57 |

We visited because we wanted something close to the theater, casual and affordable. Great menu with lots of choices for both Pizza and a variety of dishes. 20+ beers on tap. Casual dining or delivery. Really the only Pizza joint in the area. Pretty good food. Service was OK. Seemed expensive for Pizza and beer. Noisy. Parking can be a problem.

what is this place?

By unichiduci |

We went there because there were few places open at that hour and I regret we picked this one. Very crowded, very noisy, the pizza was HORRIBLE! They offer a slice of pizza for free for every beer ordered but it's worthless. For the last slice of pizza we waited more than 15 minutes. They are really unprofessional and the food is really bad. That is not pizza what they serve in there. We tried 4 different slices of pizza and all of them were messed up! Maybe among students it is more appreciated because it's quite cheap and the beer is good (they have many types of beer) but the food is terrible.

Holy Pizza Batman

By David M |

Great NY style pizza and great Chicago style pizza decent beer selection and indoor, outdoor, protected seating. Excellent

Not sure why it is famous?

By Salu |

First of all, why is it so expensive!! We tried two flavors. The pesto one was too much of the pesto. Crust is good near the outside but you can hardly hold the slice on its own as it was too soggy from the sauce and too messy. The other veggie one, maybe slightly better but same issue you can't hold it and too soggy. Do not think I want to try this one again.

By the slice NY style!

By jwade2008 |

I really like you can buy by the slice, Especially when everyone in your group likes different types. They had a lot of NY style options with a few Chicago-style types. Their slices are pretty big (as pictured ) so a meal deal was reasonably priced- flavor combos was great! Big punch of flavor

good pizza

PIzza was great ordered a Chicago style pizza. Crust was cooked perfectly. Ordered as delivery which was very long, took 2 hours to have delivered. Would recommend pickup or dine in next time.

Regents has the best pizza! Their salads and sandwiches are good as well. They have good meal deals at lunchtime too. The only drawback is the parking, but actually its never stopped me!!

Just Okay

By kjaros07 |

The last two times we have been here the quality of pizza has gone down. We got there Friday night around 7:30 and as usual it's packed and we were lucky to find a small table for husband and I. We ordered a large pepperoni and ricotta pizza. When it arrives there was no ricotta on it anywhere. When the server came back with plates I showed him had to use the flashlight on my camera because the patio is so dark. He tried to tell us when ricotta first comes out of the oven its flat then puffs up I was like um no we have ordered here before and you can plainly see the ricotta. He then offered to take it back have them put more on and then reheat it. Um no I want what I ordered. By adding this it helps offset the grease from the pepperoni which was now just sitting on the pizza. The last time we were there we hardly had ricotta on it as well and just assumed a bad night. This time they didn't even bother with it. To matters matters worse it was so loud in there you feel like your at a concert and have to scream to talk to someone and being crammed in the patio is just not an ambience I want. Doubt we will be back. Oh and we ended up just eating what he brought because it was so late we didn't want to wait for another pizza but only age half because it just wasn't what we wanted.

Great Food But Very Noisy

By Howard E |

This is a popular spot in San Diego and was extremely crowded. The Food is extra good. As far value there were 3 of us and we had 2 Salads and 3 Drinks. The salads are very different and large enough for two people to share.

Great Pizza!

By Steve C |

This is not located in La Jolla. It's about twenty minutes away. It's near the Mormon Temple and the Freeway. This is a huge restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining. It is next to the University, so most of the patrons are students and faculty. They serve brick oven pizza served to order and have a wide drink selection. The staff is friendly and efficient. And the prices are very reasonable. I really enjoyed my pizza and the college vibe was totally chill. For more travel tips, please check out my popular travel blog.

Best Pizza in town and love the new location

By beesho76 |

The new location is in the same plaza as the old one but its much much roomier and super classy. I've always loved the quality of their pizza and consider it the best in San Diego, the best thing about their success is that they haven't forgotten what got them there: great quality & fresh Pizza. I really love this place and highly recommend it to anyone that is a pizza lover.

What a throw back to a delightful pizza eating experience

By goldenrosebud |

Some people like crust. Some people don't. We I got myself a Chicago style pizza. (They do also have New York style for thsoe who want less bread) We called ahead. Although after arriving we found it may have been worth the wait just to people watch here. It is obvious that all of the drama students from nearby UCSD must be working here. What a wonderful crew of kids who are all dressed like the old time pizza places where we used to go to eat in our neighborhood. No door bell ringing here. The pizza was to die for. We bought a small thank god. Seriously, one piece filled me up. y husband squeezed down two only because it was so good. We gave the rest to the staff at The Shores where we stayed. So worth it.

Off the beaten path, but worth finding

By er0unds |

Great little spot for deep dish pizza. One slice per person is more than enough. Limited dining due to Covid, but their take-out service was efficient and safe.

Neighborhood Pizza and Wings

By Yusuf M |

This is nice neighborhood restaurant serving pizza and chicken wings. Pizzas can be ordered by slice or whole. The variety of pizza changes daily. We ordered NY Dominics, NY Babe Vigoda and CH Popeye. All of them were very good. We also order chicken wings with parmesan garlic and ranch dressings and Tenders with Jalapeno and Ranch. The wings were very dry. The tenders were very tangy with buffalo sauce and the size of each tender was huge unlike any chicken tenders which are finger size. Overall the pizza were much better than the wings.

Surprisingly Great Pizza

By 2W3 |

In San Diego, great pizza is not easy to find. Sure, there are a couple dotted around the city, but when you get a little north, the pizza seems to go a little south. That is, until I discovered Regents. Tucked away in a small center off the main road, the tiny pizzeria turns out a great product. They seem to use great ingredients and clearly know how to put them together. I have been ordering from them for over a year and the pies are consistently excellent. They also have an unexpectedly unique beer offering. Great pizza and unique beer are a winning combination. In a land that is pizza-challenged, Regents, in my opinion, stands about the rest.

been here few times already. I love their pizza when I crave it...new york style is also a good selection

Pizza and Wings

By gzau |

Regents Pizza is a very popular pizza and wings restaurant. They have both indoor and outdoor seating but there is not much of a view. They have a large selection of craft beer on tap and also in bottle. The wings were very spicy so be ware. We didn't try their pizza.

excellent little pizza place

By schota1 |

We had two New York style pizzas. The spicy salami, oregano and parmesan. This is a great combination. And the Veggie combination. It was also really good. You order your pizza at the counter and they bring it to your table. The place is kind of small and they were full on a Friday night but we didn't have to wait. They also make Chicago style pizza that looked good but we did not have any. The owner came and talked with us about a charitable auction he was sponsoring for Hospice in San Diego. He was very nice and deserves support for this great little spot.

New isn't necessarily better

By Tara R |

Regent's has long been a staple in UTC, the kind of go-to pizza place you could always depend on. It was crowded, cramped and mostly for takeout. Seats were always full. So, like any good business they expanded. And changed everything, not for the better. Now it's the generic sort of modern pizza place with trendy craft beers, a small bar and family style (cafeteria style, if you will) seating. It's open floor plan is airy, lots of flat screens and an outdoor, partially enclosed seating area. It's also not the cozy place it used to be and that's a shame. Service was slow, fumbling with our orders both times we visited. Once they forgot half of it and the other, they brought half the order to the table 15 minutes after the first slice arrived. Gone are the familiar faces (during our visit anyway) There's a punch card; buy 10 get one free. I doubt we will visit again though. More likely, we'll find another small hole-in-the-wall pizzeria, full of heart and soul and good food and leave this trendy, stylish in the moment food establishment to the folks who never knew how great the old Regent's was.

Nice Chicago Deep Dish!

By SW D |

It is hard to find a large deep dish pizza and Regents has a nearly 1" thick meat lovers pizza by the slice or the whole pie. We worked nearby and visited often. Even after we moved we would order take out.

OMG Amazing Pizza!

By Islay_Malt |

Seriously, stumbled into this place by accident. Nice to see everyone agrees on just how great this place is. I would drive up to an hour to eat this pizza. Real terrific Chicago-style and fantastic New York Style pizza. Tonight I had a salad, even the salad was fantastic. Fresh tomatos and basil. It looks like a dive in a strip mall, but do not hesitate. They also sell by the slice so you can have a piece of thick, amazing Chicago pizza AND a slice of excellent, foldable NY style pizza. Family owned, not a chain. Prices very reasonable. I've eaten here 4 times and each time was as good as the first.

One of my fav pizza places in San Diego.

By GloriaMaria0403 |

I am from Chicago so I am spoiled in my taste for pizza. Regents has very good pizza and so many varieties to choose from. I have eaten there and also had it delivered. Delivery is pretty good. Oh and the shareables are really good too.

Deep Dish in San Diego!

By SashaTheBlithe |

Just... Seriously. Stop what you're doing right now and head over to Regents. Amazing bosses buy this pizza for meetings, and it's a great place to have a beer and enjoy a slice after work. Try the Popeye! So amazing! If I have it my way, Regents Pizzeria will prepare my last meal.

Best Pizza Outside of Italy

By Alex A |

I've been staying in the apartments near Regents Pizzeria for the past 4 months. I also have to say that I have an apartment in Italy that I visit 4-5 times each year, so I know good pizza. This pizza is the best pizza I've had outside of Italy. I don't know how they do it, but they do it very successfully. It puts others to shame. I ordered pizza, pasta, calzones, and mozz sticks 1-3 times each week. Before I moved here, I used to order it from the nearby Marriott, too. Just excellent. Plus, they deliver it quickly (20-30 mins) and with a smile! Great job, guys. Unfortunately, now I've moved a little further north and I miss it terribly.

Rude AF, Apathetic Server

By Jay L |

First, I am a huge fan of Regents and have eaten there for years, so it pains me to write this. Last Thursday night (4/15/21) around 8:00 PM, I took my friend to Regents as he loves pizza and he's never been. When we got there, there was a very short line and while we were waiting in line, we started a conversation with the female server (wearing a mask and checking people in) and told her that my friend was vegetarian and doesn't eat meat, but he loves veggie pizza and if she had any vegetarian recommendations for him. While she was thinking about options, my friend also reiterated again that he was vegetarian and how it would be awesome to get some vegetarian recommendations. Fast forward a few minutes and we are sitting on our table trying to figure out what we'd love for dinner. While we were deciding on the Pizza, we decided to get some Cider and we both loved it. Then, our server came and it was time for us to order our pizza. Despite being the same (female) server, both of us reiterated once again that my buddy was vegetarian and that we'd like a half vegetarian / half meat pizza. So, after my buddy chose his vegetarian ingredients, I asked her for some recommendations and settled on your "Party" pizza for my half as I'm a big fan of the "supreme" type pizza's containing veggies and meat. So, between 3 of us, we agreed to get a large pizza with half vegetarian and half Party. Then, 30-40 minutes later, she brings us a delicious pizza, but the problem is, NONE OF IT IS VEGETARIAN. Half of it is indeed PARTY and the other half still contains meat - thus, my friend was unable to eat and we both told her that the order is OBVIOUSLY wrong. She leaves, then comes back and, in a frustrated voice, tells me: "What would you like us to do?" and her voice/tone was essentially implying that the fault was mine and that it was up to me to decide how I'd like to resolve it despite her making the mistake. I hate waste and as someone who has had service jobs myself - I offered to purchase the mistake pizza as I could take it to my brother while simultaneously saving your restaurant from unnecessary waste/food costs. Keep in mind that my offer to purchase the mistake pizza was 100% sincere and since our server didn't say anything to the contrary when she took the pizza back to the kitchen, it was assumed that I indeed did purchase the pizza and it was just on hold till I left home etc. Fast forward another 30-40 minutes and she brings a SECOND PIZZA - and this time they got the vegetarian half correct for my friend, but screwed up my half - which, instead of being "Party" - just contained sausage and pepperoni. I let my friend eat his half and asked for a box for my 2nd half as at this point... considering we've already been in the restaurant for almost 2 hours with no food and due to the terrible service we've gotten thus far, I had lost my appetite. Then, after I asked for the bill, I realized that she didn't include the mistake pizza on my bill (which was actually better than the 2nd pizza I got) as I had requested earlier and instead, she had the kitchen throw it out (what a waste!) So, overall, this was arguably the worst experience I've had a restaurant in recent times and no one seemed to care. I even asked a hispanic lady (who perhaps was a manager etc) what she thought about the turn of events and she brushed us off apathetically. IN SUMMARY: 1. Since before we even entered the restaurant, we established that my friend was vegetarian with our server, so the probability of us making a mistake is very low. Besides, he literally had a conversation about "vegan cheese" for a good 10 seconds, so unless she has early onset dementia, I can't see how she could have made a mistake TWICE. 2. She made a mistake and brought us the wrong pizza, then never said sorry or acknowledged that the mistake was hers, instead her communication implied that the fault / responsibility was mine and despite me offering to purchase the pizza, she threw it out without telling me. 3. Just when you thought one mistake was enough, she brings us another wrong pizza for the 2nd Pizza - and by this time, she had enough and abandoned our table and had someone else take care of us. Overall, for being in the service industry, if I were grading the service I received, I'd give it a F- Not friendly / Not willing to admit mistakes / Terrible mood etc. and if it wasn't for the delicious Cider, it was a complete waste of time. I don't know if her behavior was shaped by the owners/managers/restaurant strict policy OR even if it was... I can't think of a single excuse for her behavior as she could have at least PRETENDED TO CARE. I emailed the owners/managers about my experience as well, and heard nothing back. Thus, I figured I'll tell you about it.

Top Marks for this local piizzeria near the university!

By Suzanne |

Great atmosphere!!! Regents Pizzeria creates a true San Diego indoor and outdoor environment. This is an A+ establishment, good for hanging out, a first date and family friendly, too. Grab a beer or select your choice of sodas from their dispensers. Then sit back and enjoy the chitter chatter as your meal is prepared. Salads arrive crisp and chilled while the pizzas and pastas arrive piping hot straight out of the oven. The dishes are very tasty and irresistible (yes, I've burned the roof of my mouth!). The shakers for italian herbs, parmesan and chili pepper flakes are ready on the table to add the final edits to your meal. Great for students and professors, too!!!

Yummy pizza

By jweith |

We read reviews on trip advisor and had to come try it out. It was packed full, and we finally got a seat outside. The weather was great so it worked out fine. Being from Chicago originally, we wanted to try the chicago pizza but tried the New York style instead. It was delicious and we loved it more. Price is a bit high, but no different than any other pizza place like this is. We would definitely come back. Next time though would probably take it as carry out knowing the place usually is crowded. Too bad they couldn't expand their eating area some.

BEST PIZZA EVER

By Tereza H |

I am a huge fan of Regents. The pizza is amazing...I could have it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (and I have!). Not only is the pizza delicious, I have never had a bad beer here (I have eaten here over 50 times). Also, the people that work here are awesome. They are so welcoming, positive, and truly enjoy seeing people enjoy the delicious pizza. It is an awesome environment, UCSD students, families, and others. Don't miss out on this life changing pizza! You will never want chain pizza again!

Tried but no future plans of returning

By decadent14her |

I stopped by to check out the menu, but more specifically, I was in the mood for New York-style pizza for lunch. Expecting to find easy parking with the venue located at a plaza, I was surprised about the limited parking space; not to mention, there is a charge if you exceed 20 minutes. With another expectation that I will be in and out as I opted for only 2 slices of pizza to go, the turnaround time from finding parking to eventually receiving the order took over 30 minutes! Even more, I could not understand why the service took forever when the 2 slices I received looked and tasted as the ones on display! Realizing it is La Jolla, I was not surprised to pay over $9 for the slices. To add insult to injury, I ended up paying a few more dollars for parking. I think the eatery is more favorable for those staying at the nearby hotels. Perhaps the rest of the menu is very good, but I will not be coming back for the New York-style pizzas given the slow service and parking headache.

Dreams are made of this!

By kayakingcouple2016 |

Unbelievable deep dish pizza, especially the Popeye, with fresh spinach and artichokes. The creamiest mozzarella ever and tender vegetables were divine, and the crunchy crust and tangy sauce just made this something we will dream about coming back to from New York. A side dish worth trying is a lightly seasoned tempura coated cauliflower appetizer - deep fried? not sure, but it didn't seem so. Blue cheese dip for this tasty treat. We also tried the Buffalo wings, and green salad. Super. I can't begin to describe the beer selection, but the glasses were huge and chilled.

The pizza was excellent and made to order. We took our pizza back to our hotel room, but Regents seems to be one of the hangout spots in the area. They do deliver as well, if I remember correctly.

Chicago Deep Dish to NYC thin + an impressive selection of Craft Beers

By Robin C |

This is a fun, casual place to grab a slice or a whole pizza. Neat, casual environment, at this very busy place that offers both indoor and outdoor seating. Best deep dish pizza I have had outside of Chicago. I'm not a beer drinker, but there were plenty of them in our group who raved about the large number of craft beers on tap.

Amazing Pizza; great atmosphere

By Ian M |

We had dinner here (3 of us) several weeks ago, and had an outstanding experience. The restaurant offers both thin crust and 'Chicago Style' pan pizza, and the both were excellent. I recommend the 'two slice/beer/wine' meal option--which was $20 for a beer and two slices--which was more than enough for an typical adult. The bar has an almost dizzying number of fantastic beers on a tap, as well as several wine options (on tap). While the restaurant was 100% full the entire time we were there, we were able to get a table without much waiting; larger parties may want to account for that (as I don't know whether reservations are possible). The atmosphere was fun: there were a lot of students from the nearby UC, and young professionals, but a good number of families, too. We are definitely looking forward to going back.

Worth the visit

By Allie V |

I was so impressed visiting here for the first time. Not only was there a wide selection available but the staff was on top of it at every turn. A well oiled machine. Highly recommend

Best Pizza in Cali

By Robert S |

Ok. Regent is my new favorite pizza. This spot is amazing. Their employees are super friendly. Their wings are great but their pizza is one of the best I've had personally in Cali. They have salads and sandwiches that are top notch also, such as their spicy chicken sandwich wow, addicted. The place is always packed but it's pretty big so people are in and out and plenty of parking. Will be back again and again for sure.

Really enjoy this place and I'm not a carb lover!

By Julie J |

I'm not a carb eater and don't really eat pizza but I have to admit to sneaking some bites of the garlic twists and pizza, including the crust! They have a great buffalo chicken salad which is my normal order, good soups and pretty amazing pizzas. Since they expanded it makes for a nice spot.

Perfect for our softball team!

By PVjuliemccoy |

We are a softball team that stayed at the Marriott close by. Tory and staff were great! They helped us order food for 45 just perfectly, delivered it and made sure all went well. Tasty pizzas, salads and pastas. One of our other teams ate at the pizzeria the night before and had great service, and complimented the food as well! Glad that they will be moving into a larger space. We will be happy to return next time we are in La Jolla and would like pizza. Thanks Tory and staff!

Better than I expected

By Russ V |

This was another pizza place in San Diego I was told it was one of the best. I have been disappointed on most all of those pizza runs. This one was not one of the disappointments . The selections are ample with both NY and Chicago style . In both cases lots of topping to select from to create your favorite . NY style available in 14"-16"-18" , Chicago in two sizes. Salads , pasta and sandwiches and some apps . Tips - NY style will be about 25 min wait , Chicago about 45 min . If you are in a time crunch order ahead to cut the wait time . They do a wide range of beer selections and even a beer menu. Another way to pass the time . We opted for the NY style and a walnut Gorgonzola salad . The pizza is one of the best I have had in San Diego . Fresh ingredients are the key element. Much better than average cheese and crust. The salad was ample size to share and not overpowering with any one item . You order at a counter and take a number to the table you select . Parking available in just outside . In the area give it try when pizza is your quest .

Best pizza and salads.

Great food. Super convenient if you are staying at Marriott la Jolla. A little noisy but you can eat outside or carry it out. My favorite is the Greek salad and white pizza with spinach.

The best pizza in Southern California

By Gary J |

We picked Regents based on Yelp reviews, especially one titled "The Best Pizza". They were right. You can order by the slice, which we did, for a reasonable price. We were able to try both the regular crust and the excellent deep dish. Loved it all. They also have great beers on tap. We highly recommend Regents Pizzeria and can't wait to go again.

Deep dish pizzas are amazing

By Rıza Mert |

All the pizzas we tried were amazing, especially the chicago style deep dish ones. One major problem is, there are only a few Chicago style pizzas that we can get in slices.

Awesome Pizza

By Suzg |

My husband and I recently found ourselves staying at a local La Jolla hotel. Re saw reviews of Regents Pizzeria on Yelp and decided to walk to the location. That was one of the BEST decisions we ever made. Regents is amazing. I don't think I have experienced pizza this good before. We each selected two slices and a beer. Must consume beer inside establishment. Serving size is large. Pizza is really delicious. The location is small. However one of the employees advised that they are moving to a larger spot in the same business park. Most here were a younger crowd, college aged, everyone was very nice. We live about 100 miles away. However my husband and I both agreed that we would definitely drive the distance on a weekend for a day trip and pizza! You can't go wrong with Regents. Amazing Pizza!

Good Pizza

Very good pizza. I had the NY and Chicago styles, both were very good. Friendly service, very busy at meal times. Worth a return trip.

It would not be my first choice but.....

By Indiana_Jonesse |

I was taken here. Pizza came in 3 different crust thickness and a full pizza could feed a battalion very large. But I didn't taste anything out of the ordinary that made me want to say yummmm. Ambiance was contemporary with ample beer selection. I'll only go back if brought by friends again

Literally made me sick

By GrannyOakley |

I ordered a Chicago style spinach and mushrooms. I *specifically* did not order their combo that includes sausage because I'm vegetarian. They sent the combo. I didn't realize it and ate some. Argh! They also never acknowledged my email about it. To say I'm disappointed is a vast understatement! Veggie friendly? Not! It was also doughy in the middle so my non-veggie friend who was sharing it didn't eat it either. Disgusting!

Busy and Loud, but Delicious

My husband and I were craving pizza. Ok, I'm pregnant so I'M the one who was craving pizza. This one had some good reviews and it was near our hotel, so we thought we'd give it a try. It was a little tricky trying to find a place to park, but since it was a weekend, we didn't have to pay. Then, when we went into the restaurant it was a little crowded, but we found a table near the back that was far away from most of the noise. My (hangry) hubby was complaining, but then when our pie was delivered, it was much better! We had the margherita NY style pizza and it was bubbly, cheesy, and DELICIOUS. we gobbled the 14" pie between the two of us, but we were quite hungry.

Deepdish = awesome!

Very good deep dish pizza, little pricey, but good! Nice establishment! Went with my brother and a friend, we were able to find a table easily.

Almost like being in the Windy City

Although this place is a bit hard to find, the food is really good. Just shy of being authentic Chicago deep dish pizza, it is as close as I have found on the West Coast. Pasta was good also. Not much in the ambiance dept., so plan on taking out. They have phone and on-line pre-ordering, which makes a lot of sense. The Chicago pies take about 45 minutes. Both times I went there, everything was ready when they said it would be.

Wow!

Pizza here is outstanding! Not to mention that out of the four staff members that served us, all four of them were happy to help, even during the dinner rush! We would highly recommend to families or groups of friends. A great pizza place with awesome atmosphere and food. We had a Chicago style and New York style both of which exceeded our expectations. Very authentic and fresh flavors! Well done guys! My only complaint is that there isn't one in Washington state... Yet?

Great pizza!

Awesome thin crust pizza with quick take out service. Wish we had one of these near our home in the Midwest. Looking forward to enjoying a slice next time we're in town.

Excellent Chicago style pizza in CA

Its rare to get good Chicago style pizza outside of Chicago(or Chicago based pizza place), but we were very impressed with the pizza. They also have slices to go as well as thin crust/NY style, which we tried as well and was very good too
