Funky old school bar and food that can be great or a miss

By bkrchristopher |

This place is has been in the village in the same family for generations. They do it their own way and serve great drinks. I usually go for brunch on the weekends and it often seems that they are out of several key ingredients and short on staff because they are at home sleeping off their hangover from the night before. The food is really good when they have their stuff together and sometime is missing ingredients if they don't, but you won't care because they are friendly and the Bloody Mary's will make you forget that they ran out of bacon.

Hamburger Haven

A really nice neighborhood bar that serves good affordable food. The burger was top notch. Clean, comfortable, friendly. As a bonus they will deliver to Sip d'Vine next door!

Restaurant or Kennel?

By Peter K |

Renner's is a fun neighborhood restaurant and bar. That said, this establishment needs to decide whether it is running a restaurant or a kennel. We completely understand service dogs, but the open to all dogs policy is too much. Last night while dining, a dog less than 10 feet from our table took a healthy dump on the floor. Not acceptable in our book. Needless to say we won't be returning any time soon as there are many great places to eat without dogs pooping on the floor while you eat.

Changed hands for the worse

By Jens A |

I used to frqeuent Renner's on a regular basis, but many years ago the best owner it ever had died, a new owner took over, when I was there a new bartender was training, as she claimed she was not being paid, I left a good tip, which the "actual" bartender promptly swiped claiming that since the other person was not being paid, she could not be tipped either! This used to be an excellent typical greasy spoon with good inexpensive in front and good local bar in rear place; it lost all it's value and appeal and I have not set my feet there since then , nor will I ever ever again

Taste of local flavor

I loved this place. Definitely a locals bar. The drinks are affordable, service great, music and clientele fun. Funky and clean. Didn't have the opportunity to eat there but enjoy drinking there whenever I can.

happy hour visit

By Maggie B |

I happened into Renners one Monday afternoon whilst waiting for a friend to finish an appointment... First - I love Multnomah Village Second- Renners is a great local hangout. reasonable prices for adult beverages and happy hour. Choices are diverse and staff is friendly. The usual bar food ... but actually tasty. Canned Music is just up your alley if you are jones-in for CCR, Janis Joplin and the like... At least today Cheers

Funky old bar the locals love!

This historical bar serves a whoppin' size breakfast that's really good! Old menus and photos adorn the walls and good old village folks like the happy hour too!

Inviting neighborhood joint

By SivaOR |

Renner's is a friendly, casual local sports bar and restaurant. The food is much better than usual bar food and the servers are all friendly. It's a small place, so seating can be scarce, but there is usually seating available at the bar if the tables are all full. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it can get incredibly loud.

Good burgers in local scene

Definitely not your hipster brew pub. Feels like an old bar. But the burger and beer were very good. Maybe it was the night but the beer on tap all seemed to be IPA's (and Guiness); no other dark beers.

Great hole in the wall for a decent priced, good breakfast! Can't beat a $2.50 Bloody Mary either. Regulars are super nice!

Great lunch and beverages

Ultimate dive bar but the food was fabulous and a ton of beers on tap. Had the open face chili cheeseburger and it was great. Oversized but very good. A little disappointed they had run out of jalapeno slaw but the red potato salad was good too. My friend had the clam chowder and said it was very good.

Food Food FOOD!!!!!!!

Best food in Multnomah Village. Without a doubt! I've had everything here from Corned Beef to Jambalaya and nearly every time I catch myself saying,"This is the best of this I've ever had". Amazing. Nuff said.

A Multonmah Original

By Andrew C |

I go back and forth on Renner's -- love the old-school feel and the overall vibe of the place, but man, sometimes the service can be really off-putting and not-giving-a-damn. Your customers make you who you are, folks - just remember that. Decent tap list, so-so food - the usual pub fare - and an OK happy hour, but some days there are other establishments nearby that will take your money and actually offer service in exchange.

The regulars didn't like...

The regulars didn't like new people coming to this bar.

5-star dive bar

By catladyPortland_OR |

Renner's has had a facelift and new menu and has become one of the best places in Multnomah Village. Now it is more 5-star than dive bar! They make some of the best British pub food I've ever had including pasties, shepherd's pie and meatloaf. It is a nice local bar with interesting and eclectic patrons. If you have not visited lately, you should try it again.

Good Village Grinds

Visited for the second time and tried their food for the first time. The burger was outstanding, the Juicy-Lucy is a great diner meal. The Chicago-Style dog was excellent as well, all the toppings were fresh and homemade. Check out the Power Hour (Noon-1PM), $2.25 well drinks. Definitely will go back, the service was great and the decor is very inviting.
