Happy Bellies

By Elizabeth A |

This place was recommended to me by a co-worker. I was skeptical at first, having recently moved from Philadelphia and not knowing whether this gal had a good palate or not. So, I had read some reviews on here, read over the menu, and decided to bring my hubster and my best friend who was visiting from the east coast and give this place a whirl. First of all, it is in my favorite part of the city. Second of all, their drinks are absolutely delicious. The ambiance is laid back and hip. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, and since it was a clear and warm summer night, we opted to dine al fresco. At this point I cannot even tell you what we ordered--it was a lot. And then we ordered some more. Everything was delicious. There was something different that appealed to each of us in different ways and the small plates made it so easy and wonderful to share. To this day, a half a year later, my husband and friend still talk about the great time and the amazing food that we had that night. We left so full and happy, we will surely be back soon. And for the record, I have trusted my co-workers's opinions on food ever since!

Delicious fusion food

By Pamela M |

We just got into Seattle from Vancouver late and this was the first place we went to. With no reservations made, we waited for 40 minutes as it was packed! But it was worth it. We got the corned lamb salad, pork belly pancake, dumplings, short rib rice bowls and the two kinds of noodles. We had it family style so everyone got to try it all. Loved it all but the dumplings and the dungeness crab with seaweed noodles just blew our minds! Our server was very nice and gave a lot of recommendations not just with the food in the restaurant but also places to go visit and cafes and restaurants to go to in Seattle!

A French Korean twist

By Michele P |

We ordered multiple dishes because there were 4 of us and they were so good we kept ordering more. There was not a single dish that was not loved by all of us. My husband liked it so much he went back another night to try the rest of the items he didn't try the first time. You have no idea what you are ordering and when they place in down in front of you, you say wow, interesting. Then when you put it in your mouth you are saying WOW. Totally delicious. You will not be disappointed with this restaurant.

Fusion at its best

By KristineBU |

At Revel you have a feeling of eating in the restaurant's kitchen. It is neatly done with a beautiful wooden bar and a big open dining/kitchen room. The food was beautifully presented and the flavors were well combined and highly innovative. The dumplings were some of the best I have ever tried and the noodles had a very rich flavor without being too spicy. In general the food was very well balanced and the novelty of the dishes were a refreshing experience. The best meal I have had in Seattle.

My dearest Revel...

By itsmillartime |

We stumbled on Revel while walking around the neighborhood...and it was such a good stumble. My boyfriend and I split the burger and ramen which were both amazing! We went for a later lunch so there was really no wait. Would definitely recommend for an off the beat casual lunch.

Revel in the flavors of the Korea in a Northwest gendre!

By westmauian |

Pork belly pancakes, short rib and shrimp & Chinese sausage dumplings, short rib with sambal daikon and mustard greens on rice with egg yolk, and Dandan noodle with smoky pulled pork were just a few of the dishes that exploded with flavors that reminded us the our visit to their sister restaurant, Joule! We had six in our party and were afforded a reservation for that, however, we were preempted from sitting at the chef bar (limited to parties of 4 or less). The infused shochu shots offered are a must drink! Definitely a must eat stop on your next sojourn in Seattle!

Need A little Dumpling in your Life ?

By cyprusbeachgirl6 |

This would be a 5 star rating , just couldn't do it because its very loud in the restaurant, though the food is great. The service is exceptional and the food is just lovely , we of course have to try about everything on the menu. Dumplings , rice w/egg and beautifully prepared veggies , the meat was tasty and cooked to perfection. The decor is simple and comfortable though the noise is out of control so if you really want to have a conversation with the person or group you are with , this is not the place to go. Dessert was pretty to look at and also very delicious. Nice addition to Freemont , go visit , eat , just don't talk !

Best food we ate in Seattle

By Cara H |

This place is just phenomenal. Every dish was amazing. We had the corn pancake, short rib dumplings, short rib rice and cilantro noodles. We couldn't believe how flavorful everything was. There just aren't words to describe it. Everything was perfectly cooked and had an expertly balanced profile. I can't wait to return to Seattle and eat here again!

Asian fusion - street food in a sit down restaurant

By SMan46 |

We came in late for lunch - 40 minutes before closing. Sat at the counter - it's hot there as you're close to the cooking surfaces. The ahi tuna rice bowl with kimchi and greens was outstanding, Tuna cooked just right - seared on the outside and buttery soft so that chopsticks could cut through the large slices. We also ordered the Dungeness crab noodles - this was good but the Ahi Tuna rice bowl was better. We finished up with the mochi dessert. One of the best desserts we've eaten recently. With beer and the automatic 20% tip, our tab came to $71. I thought this was reasonable for what we ordered. We were pleasantly satiated with a really good meal.

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways..

By Maggie K |

1. Deliciousness. Food so good I've ordered the same thing (crab noodles) 3 times, and that's not like me! 2. "fusion" - kind of Korean, kind of just whatever the chef thinks up. Either way, a delicious combo. 3. Korean - as someone that's spent time in Korea, you can definitely see the resemblance, but it's subtle (this is not a "Korean" restaurant in my opinion) 4. Atmosphere - be prepared for it, it's not quiet, but lively and loud!

Great food.

By Randolph321 |

This restaurant was recommended by several people I ran into. I too, recommend it. The portions are generous. Might be good to take a friend because it's all wonderful. A very nice couple sitting next to me, invited me to sit at their table and we shared. Octopus salad, Taro pancake, and Dungeness crab noodle. I have nothing more to say. Try it. You'll like it.

Vibrant flavor combinations and a varied menu

By Nick |

This is the second time I've been here and each time the food has been exceptional. The Ribeye with Peanut oil might be the best steak I've had and the Octopus is incredible. The vegetable accompaniments are really unique in their own right, the cauliflower and skipjack is delicious! If you struggle to choose (you will), the servers are very knowledgeable and will help guide you based on taste and portion size. My favorite of Rachel Yang's restaurants, HIGHLY recommend.

Good, but .......

By SecretBeachHunter |

This is a consistently good place for us. Last evening's meal was delicious as usual. However, there was a pervasive odor of chlorine beach, mixed with something funky, that bothered us a we sat at the bar adjacent to the kitchen. What the?

Korean food

By 1proudmama |

We met my daughter and a friend here. Not much of a view but food was interesting and drinks were yummy. Kinda expensive. If you like Korean food you will like it. Not my favorite cuisine though.

A surprise find

By Wookie-Orlando |

Walking around Ballard quite unexpectedly ran across REVEL and its accompanying very quaint bar QUOIN. Enjoyed a fabulous cocktail on their rear balcony during happy hour. My cocktail was the Lazy Gardener (cucumber-infused gin, fresh mint syrup, and ginger beer) for $8. A generous and refreshing drink. Suggest one orders the Pancake for $8 (pork belly, kimchi and bean sprout).

Loud but great food

By KayRynerson |

As long as you don't mind waiting for a table and forget conversing with anyone outside of a six-inch radius, you will love the fresh, creative, perfectly plated food.

Excellent!!

By Mika311 |

Food was great !! I ve been eating at the corner watching the cookers working. Excellent moment! You should go at this place!

Will be back!

By redhead_roaming |

We strolled in about an hour before closing, which I felt horrible about, but no one batted an eye. We asked to be seated outside and were nicely surprised to find heating lamps on the ceiling that actually worked. We ended up getting three dishes to share - two noodle options and one dumpling. We were extremely happy about everything! I will be back, count on that!

Innovative, creative, and delicious.

By HarpAggie2001 |

Visiting Seattle, the lady-friend and I came here for cocktails and dinner. We both agreed that this spot was our favorite of the 3 day mini-vacation. Here's what we had, and it's ranking on a 10 scale: salmon salad = 8.5, beef noodle bowl = 9.5, pork rib = 9.0. Cocktails were great, atmosphere was cool, and be advised that there's a wait most of the time. The attached bar is a perfect place to wait. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and the service was good. I'd recommend this place to any foodie looking for great food.

Very nice patio

By SFTRVLR |

Great place to sit on the patio on a sunny day- or a cloudy day as they have a great firepit. Delicious food- had good short rib dumplings

Yeah......no.

By Visokoo |

"Eek! Methinks not." Totally my thoughts on this overrated and overpriced restaurant. My friends and I came here for brunch after hearing raving reviews that this place is amazing and boy were we disappointed. A friend and I had ordered the "Revel Ramen" and dang have I never tasted a bowl of ramen that was as salty as this. It was so unbearably salty that we had to ask for a bowl of plain broth to cut it. Even after 4-5 scoops of this plain broth in my ramen (that was super oily btw), it was not salvageable. I tried to eat as much of it as I could, but it was so salty that I was drinking so much water and getting full off of that instead. I'm not sure if the cooks knew what was supposed to go into ramen... but there were definitely pieces of bacon in there instead of the advertised "pork belly" which in no doubt contributed to the saltiness of the dish. The attitude of the server when we told him the dish was salty was by no means worth the 20% "service charge" that they tack on either. He was unapologetic, didn't offer ways to rectify the situation, and most definitely did not seem like he wanted to bring us our bowl of plain broth. If the 20% "service charge" wasn't automatically added to our bill, I might be more inclined to give this place a second chance since my kimchi bloody mary was pretty legit. However, given the fact that everything is overpriced and how poor the service was, my friends and I agreed that we'll never be coming back and won't be recommending this place to anyone.

Funky food with amazing service!

By leader1988 |

I dined early on a Thursday afternoon, outside on a pretty nice April day. The heaters were on outside and they offered me a blanket, which was very nice but it was warm enough that I didn't need it. My server was a super nice fellow. I told him that the next 2 hours were in his hands and I was up for any food that was fun and tasty. He steered me in the right direction with food. I had the salad with corned lamb and was impressed with the size and amazed with the texture and flavor of the lamb. The dressing was appropriately spicy, as having the perfect amount of acid. I then ordered the seaweed noodles with dungeness crab, the sweetness of the crab was balanced perfectly with the curry. I finished with the strawberry & rhubarb crisp, this was a fun little twist on your mom's strawberry rhubarb pie. I was rather disappointed with their sake options, but the junmai sake that I did have was good. You would think with Asian influences in their food, they would have more sake to pair with it. The server was such a doll, he knew I was visiting and he drew me a little map of downtown Seattle and told me spots where he liked to eat and drink. It was very sweet of him. Oh - they don't have an espresso machine, which was rather odd for a Seattle joint.

Incredible Flavors, Gluten-free Options

By T C |

We just spent a week in the city and this was our BEST meal in Seattle by far! Exceptional flavors, great vibe, and great service. Highly recommended the short rib rice bowl and miso rice cake with pork ribs (both Gluten-free!). They have stellar cocktails too with plenty of outdoor seating.

Delicious

By Trishwet78 |

My husband had the kalbi beef Rice bowl and I had the Dungeness crab noodles. Everything was delicious. That's all we got as we were having a light meal but I would go back in a heartbeat. Delicious food.

Amazing, amazing, amazing!

By jenserafi13 |

If you're a foodie (as much as I hate that term), you cannot miss this place on a visit to Seattle. Tucked away in Fremont (one of my favorite neighborhoods in the city), this place has the most amazing, tasty, creative food. And if you love spicy, they have plenty of it.

Had great friday drinks with appetizers

By Veeksels |

With whole team went for drinks to Revel, all had various good drinks and all kind of tasty appetizers. it wasnt cheap but liked the place, they have a nice bar area.

Mom, dad, son and girlfriend

By Rhonda J |

Loved eating here. We met our son and his girlfriend for dinner and drinks. The food was unique and delicious. Only complaint was it was loud and hard to visit.

Bring your foodie friends

By elgrandefrijole |

Every item on the menu looks intriguing, so it's worth bringing a group that love food and is willing to explore. We ordered about 90% of the menu and shared. No disappointments but the dungeness crab noodle and the short rib dumplings were stand outs. While most dishes are shareable, the rice bowls are substantial enough to have as a main dish that will fill you up. The whiskey cocktails were delish as well (and very on trend-- duck fat rinse, yay!). All together, we spent quite a bit, but it was a fun night and worth it! Service was fine, if a little 'too cool for school'. Would visit again if in the area.

Took twice to get in, but soooo worth it!

By TheLeonard |

acting upon a dining recommendation from a friend, my wife and I tried to get a table on a Friday night, around 8pm. No luck! There was a good hour wait. The greeter told us to try an earlier hour, so we came back about 6:30 the following evening. There are no reservations unless you're a party of 6 or more! That night was only about a 20 minute wait in the bar. It was so worth it! The service was attentive throughout dinner. The food is served family style, so you each split a salad, and other dishes. We each had out own entrée of a noodle bowl. Mine was very good, her lamb was even better! The food generally knocks your taste buds around, in a very good way! Its like a party in your mouth!! It is noisy, especially considering all the eating that was going on! In the warmer months, an outside deck is available, which will help with additional seating. This food is prepared, in view, with Love! We will certainly return!

This is so good!

By Jeanette E |

We'd both heard great things about Revel but had never tried it. Happened upon it while strolling through Fremont, and popped in for a Wednesday lunch. Beautiful July sunny afternoon, so we sat on the deck. Not a great view, just a parking lot, but nice atmosphere with the sun on our backs and casual airy seating. (incidentally the deck would also be nice in inclement weather, as the widows close up and overhead heat lamps look ready to be fired up.) The service was attentive and ordering was easy -- I mentioned my dairy intolerance and our server brought out a menu that detailed which dishes were/could be dairy free (also gluten-free, vegetarian etc etc.) Had a terrific meal. Everything was delicious, inventive, expertly prepared. We shared the Lamb salad (surprisingly spicy and really really delicious), papaya side (cooling, perfect) and beef noodles (great sweet/savory flavor-- and made without butter per request)-- each dish was terrific. We kept remarking to each other- "This is so good!" Would absolutely order each of those dishes again, but also would like to explore more of the items from the menu... Next time we'll have to bring friends so that we can order more dishes to share. Looking forward to returning for another great meal!

Consistently good

By PamelaJaneF |

I didn't want to like this hipster restaurant. It's loud and stark and filled with a bunch of millennials HOWEVER I can not deny how delicious the food is. My husband and I have eaten here over 6 times now and it's always been good. The portions are perfect and though it can be pricey it's not nearly as pricey and fussy as all those new restaurants that are popping up every minute in downtown Seattle. We will be returning again soon.

Brilliant food.

By HeathHen |

Everything about this place was A#1: delicious, creative, reasonable price, fine service. Loud but you'd expect that in such a hipster place.

THE WORST Asian food I've ever tasted in my whole life

By Blue whale |

I'm Asian, and a foodie, too. Revel is THE MOST TERRIBLE Asian food I've ever tasted in my whole life, period. It's like the chef pours half bottle of soy sauce into everything. We ordered three different dishes. After a bite of each one, we couldn't take another bite. It is that bad. Trust me. Everything is very salty, in a bad way. Don't know what the fuss is about.

Great Food & Friendly Service

By HertsEagle |

We were visiting friends in town and Revel was highly recommended to us. We were not disappointed, the food and wine were great, and accompanied by great service. I highly recommend a visit.

Smart. Not Quite Genius.

By YouDoTheDishes |

WHAT WE WERE LOOKING FOR We had a couple of hours to kill before an event so we were hoping for a nice, casual happy hour and a chance to check out what one magazine dubbed as "genius food". WHAT WE GOT Thumbs down: -- Skip the bar. Service sucked big time. Since we were there early, there was only one other party that needed tending so absolutely no excuse for the horrific timeline: 15 min to get acknowledged & place an order, 15 min to get our drinks, 10+ min for 1st check-in, no other check-ins followed, after another 15 min we decided to try the restaurant for better service, couldn't transfer the bar bill, another 5+ min to just close our tab. -- I'm all for the nouveau but some items strayed too far from the traditional base for my liking. Case in point: I ended up picking out all of the "pickled raisins" (which looked and tasted like regular reconstituted golden raisins to me) from my duck noodles. It just ain't right people. Thumbs up: -- Decent cocktail line-up. -- Industrial, straight forward décor. Open concept. I especially liked the viewing bar/table that ran across the kitchen. Total foodie entertainment to see the chefs in action. -- Do not miss ordering the pork belly pancakes. If nothing else. I'm serious. -- Honorable mentions: smoked mackerel salad, short rib rice bowl. -- In the end, the service was totally redeemed by the restaurant staff. Would have rated service much higher if I didn't have to account for bar experience.

great korean food, lively atmosphere

By Jeff M |

A waiter at a downtown restaurant recommend Revel during a recent Seattle vacation and I'm glad I went. The kitchen is fully exposed to the dining room and they were doing a very brisk lunch business, creating a somewhat loader and busy environment. There are individual tables, as well as a long, wide wooden surface that serves as a table for patrons and a food prep area. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the cooks work. The food was fresh, hot, and delicious. Highly recommended.

My favorite restaurant in Seattle

By Kimberly_Seattle_Mom |

You can't beat Revel for creative, flavorful food at a really decent price. The range of sauces that come with each meal are spectacular. Each of their rice bowls is super satisfying and balanced - you get a good portion of protein as well as vegetables. We get take out from Revel once a week and enjoy coming in for brunch on the weekends (note that the brunch menu is different than their standard menu - so that may not be the meal you want to eat here when you first come).

Wasn't blown away

By MKristof |

I'd heard rave reviews about Revel from multiple people, so when the hubby and I were in Seattle a few weeks ago we decided to check it out. We ended up wanting to do a late lunch early dinner, and showed up just past 3pm. We should have paid more attention to the hours as Revel didn't open until 5pm, but Quoin (next door) opened at 4pm. We ended up coming back around 4 for happy hour and a light dinner. The menu at Quoin was a scaled back verson of the one at Revel, but of course the dishes I had hoped to try weren't on the bar menu. We tried the pork belly pancake, the ramen soup and the short rib burger. Overall the dishes were tasty, but we weren't blown away. I think our expectations were set a bit high having heard rave reviews. Perhaps we'd have enjoyed the full dinner menu more, but overall we were a bit disappointed.

Revival of Revel.

By A C |

Revel has reopened in the same location after a complete rebuild of that 1/4 block. Since it reopened late 2019, the patrons have returned. A welcoming ambiance with an edge. The homemade noodle dish was very tasty, deep in flavor and spicy enough to tease the mouth. Will return for another time.

Great dining experience!

By marilyn1072006 |

The waitstaff was very friendly and accommodating. The food was absolutely delicious! My husband had a rice bowl with tuna and I had a noodle bowl with dungeoness crab. They were both phenomenal! We sat outside and you could smell the chocolate fro Theos as it wafted up the hill. Devine!

Delightful in Fremont

By SecretBeachHunter |

My partner and I both prefer to eat vegetarian, which often leads to disappointment when we choose a "regular" restaurant. Not at Revel, which offered several vegetarian options and they were delicious and reasonably priced. Great atmosphere, which compares with some of our favorites in San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York City. The wine suggestion was lovely.

Hidden gem - Korean inspired deliciousness

By Meeae J |

We stumbled upon this place and loved the decor inside. We we're lucky and got a table by the bar/grill, which also function as the food prep worktable. Fascinating to see the chefs hustling about to prepare one delicious meal after the other. We had noodles with dungeonsness crab, dumplings and rice cake. Each dish had Korean inspired flavors with an interesting new twist. Everything was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend this place!

Most dishes were average

By kjps35 |

Party of 6: My review of our order. Short Rib Rice Plate was very good. Kimchi pancakes and Dungeness crab noodle were both good. Short Rib Wontons, Thai Sticky Toffee Mochi Cake and Miso Black Sesame Flan were all okay/average in flavor. Tuna Rice Bowl, it was good, however it contained little tuna and was mostley just rice. Chauterelle Mushroom Rice lacked flavor and was mostly just rice that was mixed with the sauce from other dishes. Spicy Miso Pork Collar was very hard to enjoy because it was overwhelmed with fat. I would not go out of my way to dine here again

Nice service but greasy food

By HeidiWills |

We used to live in Fremont and would frequent the old Revel a lot, so we couldn’t wait to come back and see the new location. The service was very nice but the food wasn’t like we remembered, not as flavorful and healthy. The exception is the kimchi and the broccoli. The hearts of palm rice looked pretty but much too greasy. Glad we scratched that itch and hope they continue to make a go of it, but we won’t likely be back.

Great introduction to eclectic Korean food in a relaxed locale

By Moleseyboy |

We went with a group of eight co-workers to Revel at the end of a long day. The beer was good, as was the service. The menu is eclectic, combining Korean and other styles. The Kimchi pancake was fab (although I only found subsequently that it was not vegetarian friendly). The rice with mushrooms was equally good. I cannot speak for the meat or fish dishes but those who had them seemed very happy. I would have loved to have tried some more kimchi as it’s a particular favourite but all but one of their offerings contained fish sauce (doubtless very authentic, but I had to pass). The daikon kimchi was lovely.

Amazing food, great service!

By Sila |

Had dinner here and loved everything about it: the food, the vibe, and the service. Really nice place for a casual outing or a special occasion. Highly recommend!

Doesn't live up to the hype

By kimna |

Went for a late lunch with a friend on a weekday and walked in with no wait. Neither of us had been there before but my friend had heard about it and wanted to try it and I checked reviews and thought it would be an interesting place to go Ambiance and setting have been discussed in other reviews. Noise was not a problem since we went off peak. I'm not sure if the server thought we'd been there before (we're both Asian) but was not that friendly and didn't volunteer suggestions or even ask if we'd been there before. Since the menu is limited, we decided pretty quickly--had the meat dumplings, crab noodle dish and tuna rice bowl. Ate family style and shared dishes (asked for an extra bowl as two small plates were provided). Food was tasty but, as mentioned by many reviewers, overly salty and somewhat skimpy in quantity. The meat dumplings, while tasty with the scallions on top, were reminiscent of a teriyaki meatball (Japanese flavored rather than Korean seasoning). The crab noodle broth was quite salty although the dish was interesting but serving was small. The tuna rice bowl was OK--rice was perfectly cooked and the 5 or so slices of tuna were slightly rare in the center. No explanation of the 4 sauces brought to the table as accompaniment was offered although we were able to figure them out and we didn't ask. Overall, for lunch it was OK--I had eaten a fairly substantial breakfast so my friend took what we hadn't finished home. We spent about $40 for 3 dishes (not including tax or tip) and it definitely wouldn't have been enough for dinner. Pricey for what you get--whoever said tapas size was probably right. If you want authentic Korean food, this is not the place.

Korean Tapas

By wolfdog58 |

Wonderful food served impeccably.Shared the Pork and Shrimp dumplings and the Dungeness seaweed noodles. Both were excellent. The sides of daikon and fennel Kimchee were also very good. Will be back for sure next time we’re in town. The Purple Man Eater is worth ordering for the name alone, very refreshing.Loved everything about the evening.

Amazing Dinner!

Revel is one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle. Great vibe and amazing asian-fusion food. Whenever I have guests in town I am sure to bring them here!

New Age Korean food at its finest

By Susie B |

Everything one orders here is fabulous and flavorful. Want to try one of everything. Second time here. This time came directly from the airport. Reservations for 6 or more only. Some of the dishes are quite spicy. Great to share things so you can try more.

Incredible food!

By theNotoriousKIT |

We ate brunch here on a Sunday. Definitely try the Dandan Noodle and the Pork Monkey bread - both were incredible. Would go back very regularly if we lived in the area.

For a Special Evening

By JadetheBlade |

Really interesting fusion menu choices, but be prepared to pay. This is not an end of the month dinner. Also, I went mid-summer and it was pretty crowded inside, making it hot enough to boil a monkey's bum at the bar.

Fantastic Korean Cuisine

By amandak616 |

My husband and I visited Revel for dinner one night while on vacation in Seattle and everything was fantastic! We started with the short rib wontons, which featured tender meat and a little spice from the chili oil. For our mains, we shared the Dungeness crab noodles (the noodles were homemade) with red curry and creme fraiche. We also had the sticky gochujang ribs - which were out of this world good. The glaze on the ribs had so much flavor, they were definitely on the spicy side so if you're sensitive to that just be aware, but we thought the amount of spice was perfect. For dessert, we shared the chocolate torte and the lemon blueberry cake - both were phenomenal! I also had Madame Rue cocktail and my husband had a Negroni and we loved both. Our server was very friendly/attentive and gave great recommendations. I'd happily return to Revel in the future.

Lively flavors

By bjaneh |

This is a great place to go for an out-of-the ordinary set of flavors. It is upscale Korean food, with pancakes, noodles, dumplings and just 3 mains. Cocktails are varied and tasty. The noise level is low so conversation is possible even at a table for 6

Your mouth will be very happy

By LSBPHD |

So what if you have to wait in a long line to get a seat, or put up with the not-so-great acoustics (note to aging baby boomers like myself, turn on your hearing aids!). The food is astonishing every single time. It comes quickly, service is surprisingly attentive given how crowded the place always is. It's my favorite Sunday brunch spot in my neighborhood, despite the long lines problem- but then, it's the fave of a lot of us. Everything on the menu is yummy; the chocolate curry donuts are a particular delicacy.

Wait times

By madeleine56 |

Seriously, are the dinner expectations so low in Seattle that everyone has to stand out on the curb for hours!!! My daughter phoned for reservations (for 5) but apparently they don't take them for parties under 7??? How did this get to be the magic number-food might be fab but wait in the busy summer is dreadful. Even if food is fab-if we ever get a seat-won't be back.

'Revel'ation

By Raymond S |

Super, excellent, outstanding, awesome, spectacular, magnificent, lovely! I'm serious; these superlatives are worth the food! We ordered the salads, noodles, rice and pancakes and each dish had many flavours with sweet, sour, spicey and fresh touches. It was delicious! The interior of the restaurant itself (and open kitchen) was also great, just like the cocktails. So, if you are staying in Seattle; you have to go to Revel!

Tasty, but not what we expected

By LoveCreatureComfort |

My husband and I went to Revel for dinner after reading its excellent reviews. We were looking for a Korean BBQ restaurant, but Revel was very different. It is more like a Korean "Tapas" restaurant. The atmosphere is very trendy and the average age was 30-40. The rap music was pretty loud. The service was good--my husband ordered the Dungeness crab, seaweed noodle, spicy red curry, crème fraiche for $16, and I ordered the Short rib, pickled shallot, scallion dumplings for $11. When the food arrived, it was very nicely presented and was very tasty. My husband really liked the broth of the soup, which tasted like it was made with fish stock, and the noodles were nice and chewy. My dumplings were tasty, a little on the salty side, but the pickled shallot and scallion provided some balance. We went on a week night at around 6:30pm, and the restaurant got filled after we arrived. If you are looking for a Korean BBQ with lots of food, this isn't the place for you. If you are looking for a light supper with drinks and surrounded by young people, then you will like this!

Waited for hours!

By Nicole S |

We never even made it past the bar. We were happy to wait for a table and enjoy some drinks seeing as I wanted to catch up with my friends, and the 45 minute wait because we didn't have a reservation was fine. After an hour I checked with the host again and was told they were just clearing a table and it would be five more minutes. Half an hour after that we were told they were still waiting for the guest of a table to leave. At this point we were becoming discouraged and wondering what the heck is going on. I understand the place seemed busy but just tell us you don't have space and then we could leave happy knowing to make a reservation next time. Instead we were left to sit in the bar for 15 more minutes until we decided to leave as we were now hungry and ready for dinner. You can only catch up for so long you know. As we left I asked to speak to the manager and guess what? That's right, the host was the manager and the owner was not there. Awesome. I don't know if they were just hoping we would eventually order in the bar so they wouldn't have to turn away business, but now we know for sure none of us will ever be back.

Fun, delicious, and affordable!

By youngm2 |

I'm a resident Seattlelite and enjoy many of the culinary delights that the city has to offer. Though I love trying new places, I consistently find myself back in Revel, sharing a bite or delicious drink with friends, visitors, family, etc. Revel does Korean fusion right. Whatever you do, get the pork belly pancake and a dumpling (or two). Share a rice bowl and/or a noodle dish. And always try one of their rotating desserts. If you have any questions, their amazing staff is there to help and you won't be disappointed! After you have feasted on their delectable treats you will be happily surprised by your bill which is always smaller than I expect it to be. In sum, Revel is a must-eat Seattle restaurant and if you love it, check out Joule which is owned by the same fabulous people! Tip: There can sometimes be a wait to get a table but if you give them your information, they will text you when your table is ready which allows you to head to their bar, Quoin, or any of the other local places for a quick drink. It's worth the wait!

Korean fusion in Ballard

By Niki T |

This place is very hip, busy, and a visual delight if you sit at the counter and watch the open kitchen at work. The food is good, too! The parking in the Ballard area of Seattle is bad.

Won't rave about average

By Tntribefan |

The food is average at best, a few really good pieces of meat and then just bland white rice. 120 dollar for lunch for 4 adults and two small children is not a bargain.

Business Lunch was wonderful

By Kent M |

Great food and service, very unique flavorful dishes. Totally different spin on Korean cuisine. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Our favorite restaurant in Seattle

By DBCSeattle |

Being Seattle locals, we are spoiled by a great food scene. However, time and time again we find ourselves back at Revel, as the atmosphere and menu cannot be beat. If you are visiting the city and staying downtown, you have to get out to the Fremont neighborhood to visit Revel and enjoy the bar scene! We have enjoyed every item on the menu, but the dumplings can't be beat (order some of each type) and the rice bowls are great for dinner and lunch. The specials rotate occasionally and we had an amazing hot pot stew last winter, however that doesn't appear to be available anymore. The open kitchen is fun to watch and try to get a seat on the communal table if you can. Pretty loud place if you are on a quite date though. The back deck is great for summer evenings and the firepit makes for a nice happy hour spot to enjoy cocktails from Quoin, the bar which shares the building and the same owners. My only gripe is that they don't take reservations, but with a place this popular, you don't have to!

Korean Fusion Delight

By Anne F |

We had a great dinner here. We shared the green papaya salad -- very different from other green papaya salads we have had. The papaya was blended with greens, dates, and cashews. Whatever was in the dressing brought the whole thing together. In addition, My partner had a rice dish and I ordered the kale pancake. Both were very tasty and unique. We hope to return to try some of Revel's other offerings.

Revel for dinner and lunch!

By Stella S |

We have had dinner at Revel many times (as well as carry out). Recently we went for lunch and enjoyed it immensely. Love the fusion menu. good service, and busy but pleasant environment. I especially liked the corned lamb.

Taste buds, meet Art, Art meet tastebuds.

By Pusher19 |

The competition here in Seattle is so so high. This place still stands out as one of my absolute favorites. The food at Revel makes me a little teary. We have had everything. Favorites: Short rib dumplings. Dungeness crab, seaweed noodle, spicy red curry, crème fraiche Rice with egg yolk short rib, sambal daikon, mustard greens. So inexpensive. So amazing. Can't wait to take friends.

Food is good, cocktails are better, and fish sauce is excellent!

By ricknsara |

Great atmosphere. Sit up at the food prep bar and enjoy the speed and incredible efficiency with which the staff turn out interesting dishes. The food was all very good, but even better are the four sauces that come with them. Each sauce is very different, but our favorite was the fish sauce. It was excellent. Cocktails are fresh as well. Prices are fair. Wait staff was very mixed.

FANTASTIC

By khub79 |

We love Asian flavors and when our daughter suggested Revel, we jumped at the opportunity. We went for Saturday brunch, timed it perfectly as we got seated immediately before the crowd started filling the seats. We started with drinks and I had a fantastic kimchee bloody mary. No chunks of cabbage in the drink (that's what I was expecting), just great flavor, medium spicy and a few pickled beans on top. I have experienced loco moco from multiple restaurants and their interpretation of how it should be made. Most are so overwhelmingly loaded with carbs that all you can do afterwards is take a nap. I was intrigued by the description so I ordered it. It did have a nice portion of rice on the bottom topped with two perfectly cooked eggs that I mixed into the entire assortment of ingredients. The best part of the concoction was the pork belly chunks with asparagus in a crazy delicious sauce. Not sure what was in it but I want it again. There was also a fried potato cake, not sure what all was in i but it was cooked perfectly crunchy and quite tasty too. The rest of our party loved their meals too but I tasted them all and none were better than mine. You've got to try this place, very creative and run very well. We had great service to top it all off.

Not the Korean/Asian fusion restaurant I expected.

By Mary C |

Came here for dinner with my family (2 adults & 3 kids). Not a restaurant for kids. It was loud and hot and there was only a fan blowing by the entrance. Wait service was slow and menu was very limited. Much of the choices were spicy which was not good for my kids. We ordered the pork belly kimchi pancake, short rib dumpling, albacore tuna rice with egg yolk, and a special 4 meats dish. Portions were small, dishes were pricey, and food was only okay.

Best lunch with friends!

By Holly P |

An explosion in my mouth! Amazing flavors, can't get enough! Cheers to the chef; awesome creations! Such intricate mixes of ingredients and the homemade sauces are to die for!

Tried a new place with the miss and it was great. Awesome cocktails with flavorful food. Sat at the bar and watched them cook. I will be back.

Fremont treasure

By rinaSeattle |

A must try place when in Seattle if you are looking for Asian flair in food! The place is abit noisy, not ideal for date night or families with kids. Small space, but big enough for a small gathering. Prices are about a couple of dollars on the high side but if you don't go too often, it's affordable. A must try are the dumplings, mmm, almost any kind on the menu is good. The eggplant rise dish is a definite winner, but when I ordered the bowl, there were definite fibers in the broccoli stems (they use as much as they can of everything, wasting nothing if they can). Give it a try, you will not be disappointed. Go early as they fill up quickly! Sit at the counter so you can see action from the open kitchen!

A fun twist on Korean food in Fremont

By winterfe5 |

Revel is a popular place among foodie lovers in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle. Fremont is the arts center of the city and offers fun and funky places for food and drinks. Revel is always busy and for good reasons - the food is creative, fun and delicious. The menu offers fun twists on classic Korean dishes.

AMAZING!

By JLScull |

Quite simply, the best Asian fusion I have ever had. Fiancee had dandan noodles and pulled pork. I had short ribs and rice. Located in Fremont - a cool area. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Comfort Korean Food

By Mattie S |

A friend and I had lunch here. We sat outside on a warm and sunny day. I started with a shrimp and long bean salad with tamarind vinaigrette followed by a short rib, shallot and scallion dumpling. Both dishes were pleasing to the eye and quite tasty. A crisp glass of Pinot Gris further enhanced the flavors. My friend who is a vegetarian and gluten intolerant was able to find several options on the menu. The chocolate tamarind torte dessert was outstanding. Our server was very attentive and informative. We both felt it was a bit pricey for lunch but considered it a special treat . The outdoor seating was very pleasant. My friend has eaten indoors and says it can be quite noisy. I would definitely recommend Revel and return.

What a find! Fantastic meal.

By Patrick S |

Stumbled upon this place wandering around Fremont for a Monday lunch with my college BF. Thoroughly enjoyed the Octopus Salad, Taro Curry/Chutney Pancake and Lemongrass Beef Noodles. BIG thumbs up all way around. Great service. Tasty glass of wine. Decent prices for the level of quality. I have already shared its praises with my other Seattle friends.

Anything Fusion

By islandgryl |

First...I know you're supposed to be reviewing the food but....this place was so noisy that my friend & I sitting across from each other @ a small table could not talk in a normal voice. Maybe our selections were off but to me it was just a mess of weird fusion tastes. I LOVE Korean food but nothing here reminded me even slightly of any Korean dish I've ever had. You could have named it ANYTHING FUSION. For the first time in my life....no kidding!...I did not have dessert. Each one was an assortment of 5 or more flavors. None of which sounded the least appetizing. A real disappointment.

Great suburban eating outside CBD Seattle

By verick |

Whilst sight seeing in Fremont, came across Revel purely by accident. But no regrets. The food is crafted in a very professional manner. Beef Noodle soup gets 10 points more than any Pho you will find in Seattle. But wait till you have their winter special - Hot Pot Italian Seafood soup. The atmosphere is very friendly, the service is very prompt and professional. Could see the Chef in charge check on every dish that left the open kitchen. It is an experience necessary for any food buff.

Delicious

By smv791 |

Great drinks and food! Excellent cocktails and back bar at Quoin next door which provides the alcohol for revel.

The Most Unique Place I've Been!

By Rarececo |

This tapas style restaurant has a delicious Korean flair that was totally delicious! Unlike some tapas restaurants where portions are really small, my friends and I were able to split 5 menu items easily between the 4 of us and all be good and full. We were very very happy with all the food we ordered, maybe with the exception of the cod which was too salty. If not for our sour server, we would have given this place absolute top ratings!

Kicking Ramen for brunch

By Dawn C |

We went to Revel in the middle of storms and after a long night out with friends. I was really impressed with their menu. Everything was really fresh and wonderfully presented. I also thought heir portion size was perfect although my friend wanted more! Try the ramen with pork belly. It has such wonderful flavors and textures. I could eat it every day. The service lacked a bit but the food definitely made up for it. And they have vegetarian options as well.

Sweet short rib dumpling- this place is heavenly!

By muppetfan |

Open, trendy atmosphere with damn fine waiters to feast your eyes on whilst waiting for your sinfully delicious food! Service was prompt and friendly. We were placed on the wait list and advised we could also order in the lounge if we so desired. We found a spot at the bar and proceeded to enjoy delicious plate after delicious plate. Cocktails to start- a Pink Panther (vodka, bitters, brut rose to name a few of the mixers) and a Rye & Reason with strawberry + Thai basil infused rye, lime, honey & rhubarb bitters)- reasonably priced and smooth. We were pleased with all of our food choices and found what we ordered was plenty for 2 of us to share and be comfortably full! Short rib dumplings followed by a pork belly pancake and then Dungeness crab with noodles (thin, broad seaweed noodles! Think pasta flour with seaweed in the mix) and a red curry sauce that is still making my mouth water 48 hours later! We were texted that our table was ready when we were at least half way into our meal so, with a simple return text of only the number 9 we cancelled our table and continued to enjoy! I wish I could remember our server's name - he was one friendly, swoon-worthy guy... Come to think of it, my mouth is watering at the thought of him as well...

beware the short ribs

By Barbara K |

We had only been here for lunch, and went for (us) an early dinner before a play. It was a week-night, and we still had to sit at the bar at 6:30 if we didn't want to wait. Service was good, with our server making sure we were OK with time. Because it was so early, we weren't that hungry, so just ordered 2 dishes. The Dungeness crab with seaweed noodles was great! Really delicious. My husband ordered the short rib rice bowl, and while the flavor of the beef was good, it was so chewy we left several bites we couldn't chew up. I had read reviews ahead and didn't see that problem mentioned, then afterwards found just 1 with the same complaint. But the server just said she would inform the cooks. It's too small a portion to have 1/3 of it inedible. The daikon was delicious.

Sunday evening delight

By Docstone1 |

A cold windy Seattle Sunday, we dropped in mid evening and found the place was buzzing. Seated at the beautiful butcher's block chef's table, with an open view of the busy kitchen set the scene for a fantastic meal of clever, delicate fusion tastes, well matched and served. The soup stood out and was an ideal share alongside two excellent salads. Desserts were remarkable, amusing and beautifully prepared.

Great food, so reasonably priced

By Kelley T |

We sat at the bar and watched the kitchen staff at work. Within fifteen minutes, we really wanted to order one of everything. The food was so beautiful, as it was prepared and being served. After we finally settled on four menu items, we still wanted to order everything, because it was so damn good. I would say that if you are looking for a quiet evening, this is not the place. The restaurant is quite loud. But the service is great, and the food is fabulous. Go!

Passionate Chef + Simple Formula = Great Dining

By JKaz87 |

While visiting Seattle, our hosts advised us to check out this nearby place. Although the surrounding streets are pretty empty the evening to our European standard, the place is very welcoming. To my North American experience, the restaurant is uncommon in set-up -seating its customers at a long bar parallel to the kitchen itself. This modern type of dining is awesome, as you get a front-row seat to the action in the kitchen. And that is exactly where this place scores its marks. The formula is simple; fusion food, simple but elegant dishes and perfect flavors. The chef is a true chef –not hiding in a closed kitchen nor behind facades of extravagant or oversized American dining. He hits the bulls-eye, presenting some of the best food I have experienced in my travel in North America. His team is efficient, concentrated, hard-working but clearly enjoying their work. That shows. Not only in the way the restaurant functions but also in the way they turn out food. For any reader and visitor to Seattle –its definitely worth a detour.

The food is so very good, you must go here

By Don Merry |

We had lunch. The place was packed. The wait for outside seating was 30 minutes. The wait person found us a table anyway. We shared the Salad: Squid, bitter greens, black hummus, and preserved lemon. Dumpling: Short rib, pickled, shallot, and scallion. Noodle; Dungeness crab, seaweed noodle, red curry, and crème fraiche. The food was fantastic, everything worked together, the dumplings were my favorite. The service was outstanding too. We will return for brunch, and there famous barbecue.

Good happy hour

By Seema S |

Great Asian fusion food and good happy hour specials. Came on a Friday evening, staff was nice and attentive. Good drinks.

Keep Returning

By Rumples |

Revel remains one of my favorite casual places to eat in Seattle. I keep returning to enjoy its dumplings, rice dishes, salads, noodles, savory pancakes and desserts. My husband and I especially like the Korean influence, the focus on small plates to share and the excellent service. On our most recent visit, we chose my favorite -- the short-rib rice bowl with egg yolk, sambal daikon and mustard greens ($16) -- and moo shu pork dumplings with wood-ear mushrooms and hoisin ($10). The dumplings were delicious, as always. But for the first time in my years of ordering the short-rib rice bowl, I found the daikon to be too fiery. When I remarked on the daikon to our server, she said that the chef working that night tends to use more sauce in the preparation. So if "hot" is not your thing and daikon is listed as an ingredient for a dish being considered, I suggest asking the server what to expect. For those who prefer a less mild taste, dishes can always be made hotter with various sauces that are served with meals. Revel features a minimalist decor with the opportunity to sit at the counter, where it is fun to watch the food preparation, or at a table in the dining room or on the enclosed patio. The dining room can get extremely noisy so the patio is a better choice for those who want to hold a conversation at a normal level. Revel opens into Quoin, its bar, which offers a Happy Hour and a nice place to wait before dinner.

Disappointment

By jamestM9975WS |

First time at Korean restaurant. My brother's tuna was not fresh. My wife's beef tasted iffy and the kimchi tasted sweet. Will not visit again.

loved everything except noise level. food fabulous.

By NWroamer11 |

I love Fremont, and Revel is a perfect fit. the Friday night my husband and I ate there, it was full of 30 dsomethings at tables, with a few families at the bar. Food and service are excellent- we ordered a salad, a pancake, a noodel dish and one more, all shared and appearing whenever ready. We loved it all, except very very hard to hear.

The best Korean fusion in Seattle

By Iki Abby S |

Everytime we are in Seattle, we never miss this restaurant. Food are delicious, unique in taste, they have many type of sauces. Waiters are friendly. We recommend you to try this restaurant when you are in Seattle.

An excellent lunch.

By Charles T |

I came in for lunch and got to sit at the counter and watch the meals being prepped. The service was very good. The food was delicious. I plan to come for dinner in the near future.

Disappointing Korean/Asian Fusion

By Leesh604 |

First of all I'm Asian, from Vancouver and have eaten all kinds of amazing Asian food. This is by far the worst Asian Fusion restaurant I have been to. My friend and I ordered the Crab noodle dish, the Shitake rice bowl, pork dumplings and a side of kimchi. The dishes were either too sour or too sweet. There was no balance of flavours. The crab noodle dish was probably the best of the dishes we tried but was supposed to come with seaweed noodles which only looked like there were specs of seaweed in the noodles. The smoked shitakes were delicious but the rest of the bowl had a sour taste and the rice was cool and not warm at all. The kimichi was young, not fermented long enough and the taste was off putting. The dumplings could have been better. The pork filling was good but the dough was not a traditional rice flour dough. It was like a pie crust dough which would have been ok but it was then drenched in a sauce which made the dough soggy and fall apart. I was really hoping this was going to be a great restaurant because of the description of the dishes but the flavours didn't shine through and the price we paid was not worth it. Disappointing.

Great new place with seriously good food

By SeattleRoamer |

Hidden in plain sight on 36th St at the western edge of Fremont, Revel is turning out some excellent cooking! Not sure of the origin of the name but they bill themselves as Korean and "fusion" (with what?). The menu seems limited at first glance, but choose 3-4 things and enjoy the range of flavors! This is not a place to hold back in fear. The "pancakes" are fascinating, the noodle dishes have deep and rich flavors, the main dishes are ample size and full of complex flavors. The 4 "sauces" in small jars are all worthy of exploration. Service was friendly and knowledgable. The room gets crowded early (they do not take reservations) but not so loud as to perclude conversation. Plenty of bar seating, too. Definitely worth going out of one's way to eat here!

Disappointing -- bland generic pan-Asian food with disorganized service

By tjmU4374LJ |

If you're looking for "dumbed-down boring pan-Asian food" this might be your place -- just beware the catastrophic service, as this place needs to get its kitchen and servers up to speed -- before opening to the public (in its new, former location). They have rushed things, and it shows. Dinner started out promising with mixed greens that actually had interesting tastes. Things went downhill from there. Kimchee pancake had lots of "cake" and almost no kimchee flavor (we ought to have departed here). Then, we waited 20 minutes with an empty table. Finally, we asked our server about where our two entrees were. Well, she forgot them; ouch. We'd ordered seaweed noodles in red curry sauce (with crab); we got, instead, bland noodles with not a speck of seaweed in sight, with a salty sauce that strangely resembled their "other" noodle dish's. (We think the kitchen simply dumped some crab on someone else's noodles -- what else?) The slab of Pacific cod was, well, salty -- no other tastes. Go elsewhere; anywhere. Don't be disappointed as we were. OK: the server even let the cat out of the bag, when we remarked that we didn't really have any dish that was Korean. "Oh, we alter the dishes to suit American tastes" [you can't make this stuff up !!]

Lived up to the hype!

By Smilingwolf |

I have read excellent reviews of Revel for a couple of years and selected it for the celebration of my husband's birthday. We were told that we would have a 45 minute wait unless we were willing to sit at an outdoor that was not under the heaters. It was a cool but dry evening, so we decided to take the chance. The server brought us several blankets, and we were reasonably comfortable. The quality of the food was outstanding. We shared a salad, a rice dish and a noodle dish; everything was fresh, flavorful, and something we could not have prepared at home. The service was friendly and professional, and the vibe was upbeat. When the check arrived, I felt that we received excellent value for the price.

Great noodles and dumplngs

By Paul K |

Menu and space highly eclectic. Short rib dumplings were scrumptious. Crab noodles delicious. Bean cake much too small but yummy. Overall portions small but creative and well done.

So so

By Polymom |

Revel has a unique serving style, they recommended family style where everyone shares. The elote pancake was great while the kale ricotta dumpling left me wishing I had ordered something else. They had a selection of craft cocktails, we tried one with gin and ginger beer that was really refreshing.

Our favorite was whatever we were eating

By saramac610 |

I took two out-of-towners here for lunch and we ordered five small dishes to share--the dungeness crab noodle, the roasted duck noodle, the short rib rice, and the pork dumpling. Sure, it was one of the pricier lunches I've had in a while, but each dish was solidly delicious and nothing was left on our plates. The space is cleanly designed, but not to the point where it looks like they're trying too hard.

Unusual but not what I expected

By cmats |

Came with my two teenage kids and husband. Ordered the Lamb salad. I felt it was too salty but okay. Also ordered the vegetarian pea dumplings, somewhat bland even with the sauces added. Herring pancake was also not what I expected. I did like the crab noodles and the kim chee was very good. Both my kids also did not like anything but the noodles and kim chee. I really wanted to like this place and I love Korean food, but it was not my taste. Service, however, was excellent.

Tastebuds Delight

By MimiTsao |

This place exceeded my expectations. I've never tasted anything so delicious before. The service was excellent, they were very attentive even when we were waiting for our table. The waiting area/bar was a bit crowded but still a nice atmosphere to hang out. The corned lamb salad was a bit salty for my taste but still very good. The pork belly kimchi was delicious but I've had something similar before. Short rib dumpling was tender, sweet, and delicious. The roasted duck noodle was absolutely mind blowing. I wish I didn't have to share. If I had to choose to order only one dish from here it would definitely be the duck noodle. You won't regret it.

Excellent food!

By Sue S |

Stopped in yesterday for a late lunch. Totally impressed with the great service and the food portions and quality. Reasonably priced...would highly recommend!

Salty

By Snowchi |

Insanely over salted food. The day I was there for a Happy Hour the bartender seemed harried and unhappy. Hip Hop music was loud and extreme in its lascivious and misogynistic lyrics. I wrote the owner about the latter, she seemed mostly unconcerned. Made me feel like I was not her demographic, so to speak. Disappointing after all the hype.

phenomenal Korean fusion

By Jerrzbear |

Heard about this through a friend's post on Facebook and had to try it. The dishes are quite good, and like other high end restaurants, it is priced for the experience. Below you'll see the dishes we tried. Highly recommend!

Always a Winner

By Rumples |

I've gone often to Revel for lunch since it opened and enjoy bringing out-of-town visitors here. That's because the Korean fusion menu offers unusual dishes; the waitstaff is friendly and attentive; and it is fun to sit at the counter and watch the food preparation. Each menu item arrives in a relatively small dish and the staff encourages family-style dining. A few sauces are presented so diners can add to the flavor of the already tasty food that they've put on their plates. Last week, I brought two visitors to the restaurant and they were delighted with the delicious food, service and ambiance. I had warned them that Revel can become quite noisy but that didn't happen at the counter during our dining experience. When I sit at one of the tables, however, I am much more aware of noise. The menu is small, which helps ensure quality. We ordered a salad of curried squid, purple potato and escarole; shrimp and Chinese sausage dumplings with Asian mustard greens; and rice with egg yolk on short rib, sambal daikon and mustard greens. Though all three were excellent, our favorite for taste was the rice bowl. We especially liked the flavor that the sambal daikon brought to the dish. Many diners have expressed interest in learning how to prepare this style of food, so Revel offers a 2-hour cooking class monthly that features one kind of dish, such as dumplings or noodles. The class is held on Sundays from 2-4 p.m. and is limited to 14 people. The cost is $65 per class. Revel is located at the corner of N. 36th Street and Phinney in Fremont. There is parking throughout the neighborhood.

WOW! Dumplings are amazing!

By misopiso88 |

We had friends in town and wanted to take them to an awesome Seattle restaurant. We chose Revel and are so glad we did! Ambiance was excellent and food was even better. We ordered 1 of everything on the menu and shared it all. The dumplings were so good we ordered MORE! We would definitely recommend Revel!!

Fantastic

By jdam0n |

We were driving through Seattle and read reviews and thought we would try it out. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was casual yet trendy. I would highly recommend Revel for girls night out, business dinner or as a couple.

Korean fusion? Fascinating food.

This was my second trip to Revel and again the food was excellent. We went for lunch. The food is unusual and delicious. I do not normally like pickles, I loved theirs. They had very interesting meats and salads.

3 stars for food, zero stars for service

By Colin P |

Date night with my wife. Sat outside on the heated patio. Food was fantastic, service was atrocious.

A Rare Mistake

By Karen H |

I've ordered the lamb salad at least a dozen times and it was wonderful. But when I ordered it for lunch in July, the lettuce was wilted and the salad was hardly spiced. I saw the owner behind the counter so I know the problem wasn't due to lack of supervision. Maybe I came to near the end of the lunch hour. I will come back because I dream about that salad!

This is a great place for sharing small plates with a group.

By MediaMaureen |

Fun and casual vibe. Ordered many items off the menu and they were all great! The Dumplings were especially tasty.

Asian-fusion flair, Super Service

By lisa028 |

Delicious, hip, adventurous. Arrived with my daughter just as Revel opened (jet-lag-hungry) and watched the place fill up quickly. Our server was super friendly and attentive. What you should know: - Our server recommended ordering three plates for the two of us, which was more than enough. - Gluten- free, nut-free vegan options available. Ask for special menu. - Loved the pork-belly pancake, tuna rice bowl and pork noodles. Each plate arrived as it was ready, piping hot and fresh. - We enjoyed dining "outside" on the enclosed porch, but inside looked fun as well.

Your tastebuds will thank you

By joannamarie |

After two weeks of experiencing the culinary delights of Seattle this is by far the stand out experience. Each mouthful was a delight. The flavours were exceptional. The service was great and the atmosphere is pretty special too.

Come for lunch at 11:00, you can get in then

By Don Merry |

My son and I had lunch at Revel today. He was smart enough to order the short rib dumpling with pickled shallot and scallion as soon as the server got to our table, as it takes extra time to prepare. We shared that dish and he had the Rice bowl-Albacore tuna, fennel kimchi, escarole with two egg yolks. I ordered the noodle dish with Dungeness crab, seaweed noodle, red curry, and crème fraiche.

Very nice Korean fusion!

By NabilBKK |

Loved the open kitchen and atmosphere. Food is great. Korean innovations with great taste. Chef was creative and the result is really good. Service is very nice as well.

Absolutely delish. Well-worth the trip. Beautiful presentation. Wonderful, tasty combination of flavors and textures. Pan Asian cuisine at its best.

An eclectic menu that is unbelievably good

By Schmitzfamily |

Usually when you see dishes and combinations you've never seen put together, a lot of the enjoyment is in the adventure, and having something a little different. Revel has all that and in addition, everything is simply delicious, adventure or not. If you're in Seattle, and especially if you're in Fremont, do not miss this unique and outstanding dining experience. I've been to a lot of Seattle restaurants and this is my favorite.

Let the server do all the work

By Dukey88 |

We got to Revel on a Sunday evening without a reservation back in late August and were told the wait wasn't too bad. About an hour. So we just grabbed a drink at the bar and sat outside watching the sun set. The drink menu is pretty adventurous. But the dinner menu is even more adventurous. We really couldn't decide what to order, so we just asked our appropriately attentive server to put in some orders of small plates that gave us a very well rounded experience. After asking about any food allergies, away he went. We weren't quite sure what to expect, but were so pleased with the food. Overall had a great experience. My only complaint, if I had to have one, is that the smoker/grill was running that evening and the smell of the smoke in the restaurant, especially where we were sitting near the door, was very noticeable. But that's really nitpicking because overall I would go back again and again and again...if I lived in Seattle.

Asian with a twist

By 838sam |

We go to Revel every couple of months, and there's always something new on the menu. I would be happy just eating the sauces they put on the table. Very creative takes on pan-Asian food, with a Northwest twist. The rice bowls are my favorite. Plus their sister space next door, Quoin, is a great little bar. The space is fun and vibrant, although a little noisy. The small parking lot in back is another plus.

Consistently delicious!

By papinn |

I live in the hood and frequent Revel often - dine in and take out. The salads, pancakes, and dumplings are my fav, as well as the varied pork offerings of the summer BBQ. Thumbs down on ambiance - extremely noisy indoors; thumbs down on main dish variety - change it up - it seems to always be the same main dishes.

Amazing

Great food great service great open kitchen so you can watch while they cook. Great bar next door Quoin

Our New Spot!!

By Traveling4Real |

Two friends, my wife and I stopped by Revel on a whim this last Friday evening. Even without reservations they quickly found us a table out on the deck. We ordered 5 or 6 different plates and shared family style. Everything was DELICIOUS!! The service was surpurb to top it off. When in Fremont this will be our new spot!! I highly recommend.

Reveling in Asian Fusion

By CYPhung |

I've been here three times in the last five years -- with all the great restaurants that Seattle has to offer, that's a lot! Every time, I always enjoy the food and ambiance. This is one of the places I recommend to Seattleites or visitors because I think it's a good representation of the Seattle food scene: a little quirky, interesting space (I love the open kitchen in the middle of the room), laid back (no reservations, casual attire) but sharp on the food quality. A little pricey for small/medium portions, but it's about the food quality not quantity and I think the price is worth the food experience. Good for all sizes of groups or solo diners (you can eat at the bar facing the kitchen). Plus it's in Fremont, which is a great neighborhood to visit. The food: I took my mom to lunch and we ordered the Dandan Noodles, Mushroom Porridge, and Short Rib Rice Bowl. Their menu changes but usually there are permanent staples like the rice bowls or dumplings. The noodles and porridge (aka congee) were flavorful and excellent. The noodles weren't dry; the porridge wasn't too lumpy or runny, just right. The Short Rib Rice Bowl has rice, meat (short rib), veggies (something pickled) and a sunny side egg on top, like Korean bibimbap. But it was lacking. The meat was good, but the overall dish, I remember it being more flavorful the last time I ordered it, even with the variety of sauces at the table. I'll skip ordering this one next time. Dessert: sweet potato donuts. Say yes to their desserts! Also plus: great lighting and beautiful presentation of the food (see photos) -- important factors to consider when dining at Seattle restaurants!

Lively Korean inspired NW fusion, with a happening bar next door.

I'd say this is more of a quick bites and drinks place than a destination leisurely restaurant. Food was very good; small plates like everywhere in Seattle these days. Not a huge menu, interesting combos of Asian flavors and locally sourced foods. Noisy and very lively in a cheerful and friendly sort of way. Mostly people in their 20s and 30s with a few young families when I was there got an early dinner.

Flavorful and interesting

By LaLacorde |

Fantastic dinner. Pickled cauliflower and lentil salad was a little over pickled and spicy but everything else was fantastic! Short rib dumplings were out of this world - literally melted in your mouth. Albacore tuna, fennel kimchi was delicate and an interesting combination of flavors. Crab seaweed noodles were perfectly al dente rich, mild and delicious. The temporary space is a little underwhelming but who cares when the food is so good. Parking is ok at 7p and on street is free after 6.

A taste Sensation! You must go now.

A last minute dinner out with our neighbors landed us at Revel. After a cozy 30 minute wait in the bar we were seated at the main counter. It was right before the Superbowl so they were serving $25 bottles of wine in honor of Richard Sherman of the Seahawks which just put all of us in the most festive mode. Our culinary socks were knocked off by the following - order these items if you can! Shrimp & Chinese Sausage Dumpling (you have never tasted anything so good), Roasted Cauliflower salad (I crave it now), and the Pork Belly Pancake. The restaurant is alive and loud and the wait staff is attentive and very helpful. Seriously, one of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had in Seattle. We will be going back as often as possible.

Tasty food

By seattlepat2015 |

Revel's food has very interesting flavors. Food is well prepared and creatively designed. The atmosphere a bit cold but usually has interesting art. It's a fun choice for a unique alternative for dinner

Truly unique food

By seatravelerSeattle |

Revel in the Fremont area of Seattle is one of the most unique eateries that we've eaten in. Very interesting Korean fusion, and combination of NW, local menu. What a great place to eat. Good value for the money, too.

Great food, cool atmosphere, worth the trip

By Evan R |

I had lunch with some clients at this spot off the beaten path. The food is served family style, and there's plenty of it. We ordered two from each category: dumplings, noodles, pancakes and rice. Every dish was delicious, with enough flavor and spice. If it wasn't lunch, a bottle of Riesling or rose would have been perfect. There's a small bar with a firepit outside, outdoor dining and cool artwor. Service was very good.

Excellent Family Dinner

By Lee F |

We went here for a late Saturday family dinner. My wife and I were with our two daughters and son-in-law. They had all been here, so my wife & I let them order a family style dinner. We started with a glass of white wine and two of the pancakes (pork belly and smoked white fish). Both pancakes were delicious. Next came the short rib dumpling and rice with Albacore tuna, followed by the Dungeness crab seaweed noodle dish. OMG Sooo Gooood!

Awesome lunch at revel

By Marco R |

Read about this lovely restaurant and we went for a awesome lunch there, busy but fast, professional and efficient service. Their noodle dishes whee outstanding, I can highly recommend this restaurant if you like some more modern interpretations of asian foods.

Great lunch with friends

By DonkArizona |

Came here for lunch with friends while we were visiting from out of town. This restaurant is related to another restaurant near downtown Seattle. This was something new for us so we went in with an open mind not knowing what to expect. We shared several dishes as this was served family style. Nice patio to enjoy lunch or you can sit inside if the weather isn't cooperating. Never knew how wonderful noodles could be to eat. Didn't have a bad dish and would like to come back another time to try out their dinner menu.

Amazing Food!

By Montanaboysmom |

We went here for lunch, and we were not disappointed! Every bite we had was an explosion of flavor! The noodles were amazing and the sauces were fantastic. We will definitely come back here!

Cool place and good food

By Julie T |

Very cool place for a date night or dinner with friends. Service was excellent and menu has some interesting flavor combination, but both our dishes were delicious. Only con was the limited options for vegetarians. Apart from that I would highly recommend Revel!

Great Vibe, but food was just OK

By Siam Traveler |

Walking into this place on a Friday night the vibe was great and I was really excited to try this place. Maybe I was thinking I was going to get some great foundational Korean flavors. First ordered a corn pancake. I wish the consistency was what I would expect with a Korean pancake with their take on flavors. Didn't quite hit the mark and it was very small. The Dungeness crab was also on our radar. My dinner companion loved it. We also ordered the short rib dumplings. C'mon, short rib dumplings should be a no brainer. The flavor was ok, but the dumplings weren't being held together. I really wanted to like it. Even though it was fusion the foundational flavors should be there. Oh and there is a 20% mandatory tip. The staff were great, but it would be nice to be able to choose.

Interesting fusion flavors with NW ingredients

By penguin0nthem0ve |

Good fusion flavors using fresh ingredients. Our table ordered 3 of the Dungenness crab noodle bowls and they all were good but had slightly different amounts of veggies, creme, and ginger. Prices were fair to high for the portion size. The building was not conducive to conversation in our party of 8; it was too loud to hear anyone unless they were next to you.

Something different for brunch

By EugeneGypsy |

Not your typical breakfast menu, but amazing Korean fusion food. There was a loaf of monkey bread that included diced char siu, a hint of jalapeño and green onion, drizzles with maple syrup. To die for! Two of us had egg foo yung that included lots of crab, shredded zucchini, and topped with greens - tender and delicious. The other had short ribs served with rice and two eggs. The description doesn't sound very exciting, but it also was amazing. I hope it's on the menu when I return - which I certainly will!

Uniquely Delicious!

By Cheryll |

This was recommended by our B&B in Fremont. It made it to one of our top 3 meals we had in Seattle. Korean fusion style cuisine, presentation was beautiful, real clean restaurant and service was great. Wait time for food was a little longer than expected but it was fine. The food made up for it. Portion size is on the small side but with what we ordered, it was just right. We had Kimchi porkbelly pancake, shortrib dumpling, a seasonal meat platter with brisket, sausage and sirloin that was all butchered in house. The desert was soooo good, Miso Caramel Chocolate Brownie, with Cherry sauce and Spiced Potato Chip.

Fabulous food but noisy

By rinaSeattle |

My husband and I dined at Revel this evening and had a wonderful experience, although there were two things that we both agreed that were a little disappointing; the rice we ordered as a side; maybe it had been sitting in the rice cooker since the morning, making it dry and chewy. The appetizer of smoked mackerel and the short rib dumplings were a hit and definitely try to summer bbq offerings of the for starters ( $18). The music was also abit loud. There's no moving to another part of the room to make it less noisy. They play music that is a maybe not the type of music you want to hear at a really nice place. It felt "clubby" and most patrons were a little older than the early 20's -30's crowd. There are also children dining as well, so I hope Revel owners and staff take their patrons opinion's into cinsideration when we suggest these opinions and may want to turn the music down and be more on the mellow side; it'll probably make the restuarant a little less hectic and more relaxing. Prices are affordable. A nice date place if the music is not too loud to be able to actually communicate without trying to talk over it. Good for families( I recommend eating outside). There is outside dining in the summer, so a nice place to meet up and have a cocktail before dinner; they have a bar called Quoin right across the hall. Small groups are good too.

Great local spot with lots of flavor and atmosphere

By Tyler K |

This is my most favorite restaurant in seattle. It's great for a quick pop in for a unique cocktail or a long relaxed dinner with friends, date or family. The menus change based on the season so you get a great taste of local fresh food. The open concept is pretty cool too

Great food and outside seating.

By MichaelN94132 |

You should appreciate fusion cuisine and be about sharing, a la family style. The meat was exceptional and the sauces were flavorful. We got vegetable side dishes to balance all the proteins. Bar menu is decent. It was a balmy July evening, so dining outside was really enjoyable.

I'm not Anthony Bourdain

By Richard B |

Went for lunch. The service, my wife's Corned lamb, mizuna, spicy nuoc cha (salad), the local beers they recommended, and the Pork belly, kimchi, bean sprout pancake (starter) were great. However... the Short rib, pickled shallot, scallion dumplings were floating in oil. I knew about it the rest of the day.

Unexpected surprise

By Andrea D |

Great tasty Korean fusion restaurant! We ended there since we found another restaurant closed and while the first impression was not good (maybe for the small and bland place) we completely changed our mind once the food was served. Delicious!

Extremely Noisy Restaurant

By Jim B |

Met a group of people here for dinner and thought it was one of the noisiest restaurants I have ever eaten in. It is fairly small and when full of customers, you have to speak very loudly in order to be heard at your own table. When we left and stepped outside, my ears were ringing. The food was OK, but nothing exceptional. This is definitely not a place to go if you want a relaxing place for a meal and visit with others.

Exceptional, and different

By 2Journeyfolks |

Have been here a few times for lunch. It is unfailingly good, creative and well presented. I wholehearted recommend this place for an experience in something unique and different. The service is good. it is fun to sit at the counter and watch the cooks prepare the dishes. The kitchen prep area is immaculate. (I think this is not always true in other such places.) Some people are disturbed by the prices. The place is not cheap, nor do I think it ought to pretend it so. However, the price/value relationship is very high. They deliver what the menu and the servers tell you. How many places do that?

Great food in the Fremont neighborhood

By GMJinTN |

We asked our Airbnb host about good restaurants in our neighborhood. She recommended Revel and it's sister restaurant Joule. We walked in to Revel after 8 on a Tuesday without a reservation. We had a delicious and lovely meal. They close at 9, so were out of a few of our first choices, but we were not disappointed in anything we ordered. Our favorites were the shrimp crisps and the black sesame miso flan.

Great Korean food

By Kathy L |

My husband and I stopped in by chance for lunch and really enjoyed our meal. We had no idea that this was a Korean restaurant when we happened to walk by. We were delighted that we stopped here to eat. Our meal of Ahi Tuna was delicious. This place is highly recommended. The service was also exceptional. Thanks, Kathy

Innovative Marvelous

By msankaran |

Try it all with affordable small plates that will surprise and delight you. We shared a salad, dumplings, pancakes and a rice bowl. The flavors are new and satisfying. The preparations are perfection and lovely to look at too. The service is knowledgeable, friendly and unpretentious.

Yummy & Interesting

By korrikorat |

Food was very good with interesting ingrediants. They have a pretty small menu based around some preset categories - Noodles, pancakes, etc .Prices are reasonable for what you get but portions on some things are small, so they end up being more like tapas. The decor is trendy and stands out amongst some of the more run down places in the area. The trendy decor tho is pretty hard and metallic, so it is loud with sound bouncing all over. I would not hesitate to return again.

Korean Fusion (think hipster)

By Adrianator |

Fusion Korean food. Worth checking out for the novelty of it. Great location in the hear of Fremont and would be a nice atmosphere for a date.

Atypical, yet delicious!

By Ale_Storchi |

I loved this asian food. They have a small menu composed by small plates (10-13 each), and every plate is really well made! If you are not starving, a plate and a half rice bowl is enough, but I suggest you to take some different stuffs and share them!

Another Korean Food Style

By Edwin L |

we came family to have dinner in revel, the place was good and the open kitchen. we love to see the activity of the chef cooking, and many guest came for dinner also. we ordered the dumpling, rice with beef and egg, pancake and noodle. Another taste of korean food, taste good and love to come back.

Yummy Lunch

By Kohn W |

Walked to Revel from Westlake and am glad I did. The food is wonderful and the service was friendly. I had the lunch rice bowl. Can’t wait to have it again. My man had the crab noodle bowl and finished it so quickly all the while saying it was very very good. Will be back!

So, so good

By Tracey S |

We had several food and cocktail items. All were excellent. Pork belly pancake and short rib dumplings were yummy, but favorite was the Dungeness crab noodles. If in the area, I definitely recommend you stop here.

Great food but oh so noisy!

By Ellen B |

The food at Revel is always a treat. Last night I had an oyster mushroom salad that everyone at the table loved. Service was also great. The downside of our experience was the noise level. We could hardly hear ourselves talk or think! We plan to return in the summer when we can sit outside. No more noisy dining room for us!

Brunch with the kids

By TKDEF |

We read some reviews in Revel and thought we would give it a try. We are always seeking out new flavours of fusion cuisine and the chefs were iron chef contestants. We had the Dan dan noodles, pork belly ramen and the Pork Katsu on a scallion biscuit. The Dan Dan noodles were ok they were neither authentic nor were they unique in any way. I expected some twists but it was like a sweet soy and ginger sauce. Not impressed. The pork Katsu was a bit more interesting. Basically a deep fried pork chop Japanese style on a scone with gravy. A bit different not bad. Finally the ramen was the better of the 3 dishes. The soup base was rich in flavour and the pork belly was crispy skinned. All in all not bad but sorry I'm not too impressed. Is that the best Seattle has to offer for Asian fusion?

consistantly amazing food

By nor_ramji |

I have been to REVEL multiple times and never had a bad meal. Service can be slow because the restaurant is always busy and does not take reservations for groups smaller than 6. Be prepared to wait 15 minutes of more even on weeknights. Quinn's next door is a great place to wait for a table and even have a bite. The outdoor fire pit area is also great. The corned lamb salad is spicy and delicious. The savory pancakes are always made to order and crispy and go great with the mix of sauces. The dumplings are a little too oily for my taste but still good. The crab red curry noodle dish is amazing, spicy sweet and creamy. I've also been to the weekend brunch and the hash and porridge are amazing. We tried the monkey bread and could not stop eating it. All in all this place rocks and never disappoints. I never mind waiting for good food.

Stunningly flavorful food!

By seattlefoodlover2016 |

We were a family birthday party of 9 adults, 2 children and an infant. We were advised to pick unique dishes and share them and were delighted with the advice. The crab noodles, shrimp salad and beef rice bowls were outstanding. Such flavorful food ! This was an excellent location for such a celebration and the service was outstanding.

A consistent go-to

By seattleshoedawg |

While other reviews are mixed, we have consistently enjoyed our experiences here at Revel. Our newest favorite is the Lamb Mizuna salad, the Shrimp-Chinese Sausage dumplings and Dan Dan noodles with Crab. Be sure to select a great beer to pair with this and you will leave content. Yes, the noise can get elevated when it's full of people, but it's not meant to be a hushed environment. Our service is also consistently helpful but not intrusive either. We live across the bridge from this Fremont location and will continue to dine here.

Okay, not great !

By Bee Jax |

Lovely setting, and very contemporary place with open kitchen. Wanted to sit and have brunch so ordered drinks at the bar and waited until the table was ready. Table came available but we were unsure about the food and were told we couldn't sit if we were just drinking. Able to sit eventually, brunch menu was very limited - especially for vegetarians. I asked if they could do a fruit bowl for me, apparently this was not possible so I just had tea. We asked for the wi-fi connection but were told we couldn't as it interrupts with their bookings. Waiter spilt small amount of coffee on my friend and also knocked over drinks on the table next to us. All in all not a great experience unfortunately, need more vegetarian options

unusual and very good

never really had Korean. stopped in for very pleasant lunch on the porch. the food was tasty and a little spicy but not too much. A great introduction to Korean food
