Brunch

By Allishue |

We waited about 40 minutes but was worth the wait. I had the early bird special and the breakfast sausage was as big as a hamburger patty and very good! Pancakes were also good and a short stack of two is PLENTY as they are big and thick. Would dine here again. Three of us dined for $37, without tip.

Pancakes

By Watsufizzi |

I dont say stuff like this often: best pancakes ever. Get them with fried bananas on top. Super good "huevos" (think rancheros) too. Sat out back in a covered outdoor area which was awesome. Only thing was the grits were a little runny. Very very good all around.

Pancakes are legit.

By Michael L |

Allegedly the best pancakes in the world. Fact Check: True. This place had a great variety on the menu and everything we had was well executed. I didn't feel like I had enough tattoos to really fit in but the place was friendly and the food was really good. FYI, don't even try to park a large van in the vicinity.

Bring Your Own Parking

By Matt M |

Getting a parking spot at this place is a nightmare. Patience is rewarded however because what you’ll find inside is worth the parking troubles. I had the Brisket Breakfast. This breakfast brisket is on a whole different level of awesome. This is one of the most creative dishes I have ever had. An absolute delight one should definitely experience. The staff is friendly and tolerant towards two year olds accompanying their dad for a late breakfast. The eggs were perfect. It’s a real challenge to get that right, especially when they are served in the bowl of liquid brisket awesomeness. Can’t say enough positive things about Ria’s Bluebird. The coffee is great too, which is often overlooked. My two-year-old daughter seemed pleased with her pancakes. But she isn’t exactly a food critic or anything. I once saw her eat an Oreo cookie off the ground. I had often impatiently driven by this place and thought “I’ll try it next time” because the parking was always full and I didn’t feel like waiting. Besides I thought, I can get up to Highland Ave. if I take the next left and there’s pretty good food in that direction. Now I regret the wasted times when I was not eating breakfast here. I’m actually kind of irritated that someone from the staff didn’t jump in the middle of the road and force me to stop all those times, but they can’t do everything I guess. This is the standard bearer of Atlanta’s breakfast.

words can't describe...

By Q1674EWamandas |

When I try to describe the pancakes with caramelized bananas, the words that come to mind are: mouth-watering, amazing, out-of-this-word, so good they make you want to slap your Momma...and still, that doesn't do it justice, not even close! I have waited, and will continue to wait for a table an hour or more on a Saturday morning when I want these pancakes, I hesitate to even write this review for fear you will now go try these pancakes, and make my wait even longer. But, I feel the world should know about these pancakes, even if it means a longer wait for me.

True Southern cooking that leaves you wanting more

By Mohammed Nour J |

I visit from Dallas often and have now gone back few times! If you don't mind the wait, this place is one of my faves in Atlanta! Good variety menu, service staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is very relaxed! If you plan on doing breakfast in Atlanta this place is a must!

Breakfast after Ballgame!

By Lynette E |

What a great way to end a special stay. Had their Shrimp and Grits, while very tasty, was a little pricey for the amount given. Not as much bang for the buck as the other choices at the table.

The best pancakes in Atlanta!

By Delgis Jose M |

Hands down the best pancakes in Atlanta. We usually share a Short Stack and an Early Bird Special. Never dissapoints.

Great Local Restaurant

By somewhereingeorgia |

3 of us arrived at 10:30 a.m. on a Wednesday hoping to avoid the crowds. It was packed but we were seated in a few minutes in their back room, which is homey and comfortable. We each ordered different dishes and sides and everyone was very pleased with choices. Service was exceptional. Because of the location it is nearly impossible to get a parking space in their private lot. Plan to park on one of the side streets behind the restaurant or across Memorial Drive in a paring lot for Oakland Cemetery. Dress for the weather because you may have to sit on the outdoor benches before getting a table inside.

Long strands of hair in my bowl and not an apology in sight...

By Zippy P |

I recently sat down for brunch with a friend at Ria's after a couple of years since my last meal here, expecting the same quality food and service that Ria had demanded. Sadly, not only was it hard getting the servers' attention, when our food arrived, mine had several long strands of hair in it. I didn't notice this at first - not knowing to look for it! - but my first spoonful introduced me far more intimately to someone in the kitchen than I ever imagined. Once I pulled the long strand out of my mouth, my companion FROM ACROSS THE TABLE said, "There are more in your bowl - I can see them from here!" We literally had to shout over other patrons to get the attention of the wait staff all corralling at the bar, enjoying each others company, until AT LAST they heard us yelling for them, at which point our server came to us grumpily (sorry to have spoiled your fun time!), we showed her the hair, she swiftly removed my bowl, didn't say anything, and a few minutes later returned with a fresh bowl of the same meal I had ordered before. This is BAD. I can't begin to say how disappointed I am in Ria's Bluebird after Ria's passing. I doubt she'd be proud of her staff based on this experience.

Still reminiscing

By liberatedbytravel |

The food was tasty and cooked just right. Grits, pancakes, breakfast burrito were on our order. We will go back soon. The have a lovely rock fountain in the enclosed outdoor dining area. **Avoid outside seating near the kitchen door. Sometimes a worker is smoking and, with the often open door, it easily wafts through the dining area.

Delicious food couldn't make up for poor service

By Haley J |

Apparently long wait times for seating are normal here, so I am not factoring that into my review. However, what made this brunch experience unpleasant was the long wait time to receive the food we ordered: an hour, in fact. We watched tables around us receive, eat, and pay for their meals while we waited. Our waitress was extremely aloof and seemed to ignore us intentionally as she walked past our table multiple times. Finally we forced her to pay attention by emphatically waving her down and asking about our order. Moments later the food finally arrived, but we were all so impatient and frustrated that it was hard to enjoy. Plus, I couldn't stifle the sneaking suspicion that if our waitress had actually been vigilant all along and made sure our order was coming along, we wouldn't have had to waste away waiting. I really wanted to like this place, especially because they have so many fantastic vegan options on their menu, and their atmosphere is quirky and fun. But, ultimately, no matter how tasty our meals were, the service left a bad taste in our mouths. I hope this restaurant sets higher standards for their waitstaff in the future.

Breakfast meeting before NRAAM

By Mr. Oke |

We had a group of 5 and we had a variation of meals. It all looked amazing and my meal was the breakfast brisket. Not really what I thought it was going to be but it was awesome anyway.

A hidden gem!

By TerminalTourist1966 |

We stopped in on our way to Oakland Cemetery. Wow. The Cuban sandwich and soul. Superb. The service was great and we really enjoyed the almost bohemian ambiance. You won't be disappointed.

The best pancakes ever!

By MarylandTravelinMom |

a visit to Atlanta demands a short stack of Ria's pancakes with caramelized bananas. the place is tiny and across from Oakland Cemetary( ok, no ghosts). Staff are really friendly but even if they were awful- the pancakes are so amazing. Light with a slight crisp outer feel and the caramelized bananas are magical. You might be able to eat a full stack and you should if you can! With coffee, this incredible breakfast was under $10. And you can walk it off if you feel so inclined in Oakland Cemetary right across the street.

Vacation breakfast

By jules55-19 |

Had a short wait but it was worth it. Lots of unique interesting and a few usual choices for breakfast my latte was 100 percent than Starbucks! We had an omelette with blue cheese, bacon, and tomato’s, so good! Grits were good cottage fries great would definitely come back!

Nice place to eat lunch!

By whitneyncooper |

My girlfriend and I were looking for a place to eat lunch, and we found this place. Loved the atmosphere, despite the slight crampedness (would probably recommend coming when it's not too busy). I had the chicken salad croissant; absolutely delicious. Parking is a bit....odd, but survivable. Oh, and they don't let you split checks, so be careful! Look for the big bluebird mosaic!

Eclectic Local Brunch

Funky, creative and colorful. Friendly staff, great coffee. Indoor/outdoor seating. Fair portions and prices.

Best breakfast in town!

By Nicole S |

Best breakfast in town. A large variety of breakfast and lunch choices. Healthy and indulgent options! Quick and friendly service.

Not your ordinary fare

By TookieTreks |

Great fresh food with unusual ingredients or options. Really enjoyed our meals. Found this place on the way to the Atlanta Zoo. Was really busy but also was seated and served in a timely fashion. Considering the fresh and specialty ingredients, price was decent.

Great Brunch

By Nated2519 |

Great brunch, very interesting menu. Small place but great food at a great price. Right across the street from Oakland Cemetery.

Breakfast

By compassion691 |

First time and will defiantly come back!

By teemoore92 |

I don't live anywhere near Ria's but was told by a co-worker about this place and we decided to meet here for brunch. My co-worker, a veteran of Ria's, was going on and on about how delicious everything was, especially the pancakes. When I arrived there, I noticed how small the parking lot was (I was lucky to find a spot). Upon entering the restaurant, it is surprisingly small. Not many seating options available so I expected a wait; which was no big deal. Our order was taken and the wait for the food was expected (it was busy; they had to take names on a waiting list). I ordered the "world famous" pancakes [with chocolate chips and caramelized bananas]. For the two of us, it was around $23. Not to shabby. I would consider this similar to iHop but better by a mile. For the price, I can't complain! I WILL be back to try the other items on the menu.

Excellent Brunch

By Beedee S |

Easter. Brunch at Ria’s was outstanding! There were 5 of us and everyone loved their food. The service was so friendly, food so hot, coffee delicious and it kept coming. Would go back in a heart beat.

Slow cooked brisket with poached eggs

By Artie P |

First found this on Atlanta Eats. Wow! Rias always delivers. Slow cooked brisket with poached eggs And add a stack of pancakes with caramelized bananas. Drool...

Best pancakes in Atlanta

By Innerhousewife |

Casual spot on the smaller side where there was a short wait for a counter seat. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The pancakes were very good-some of the best I've had. I wanted eggs and pancakes and I was offered a combo that ended up being $23-a tad expensive for breakfast food, but next time I'd order one of the regular options that averaged $14-16. My only "complaint" is the stools for the counter are uncomfortable and are pitched forward and too tall for the counter height. (I'm 5'4", so maybe it's just that they aren't made for shorter folks). Had to literally bend over to not slop food on myself. Otherwise, I could see this being a place that regulars would go often as the food was good and the staff were nice.

This place is B-A-N-A-N-A-S!!!

By Adam P |

I haven't had a breakfast this good in so long seriously fantastic! I will say expect a wait when you arrive especially during key brunch times. The place is very small, maybe 6-8 tables, a bar to sit at with another 6 chairs so coming with more than 2 to a party will be a wait but I promise very well worth it. The people who sat next to me and my friend made our choice of what to eat very easy, especially when they had a stack of banana pancakes in the middle of them. Those hot cakes looked better than Beyoncé in a bikini. (LOL)! But FRFR! I was starving so I went in on the menu. I ordered for myself; Fat stack(3) pancakes with the caramelized bananas, organic cheese grits, scrambled eggs, market st. bacon, and their homemade sausage patty. My friend got a short stack(2) of pancakes and their Brisket breakfast that was a bowl of shredded beef in a spicy tomato sauce along with a baguette. Was supposed to have a poached eggs in it but he's not a fan so ate it with scrambled eggs. ALL GOOD!!! If you love pancakes with bananas, seriously the caramelized sauce on those cakes were to die for. The prices weren't too bad, the menu has lots of vegetarian options but also a carnivore. All in all 10/10 stars for place.

Get here early the tables fill up fast.

By Arthur225NYC |

We had an amazing breakfast. I ordered Huevos with grilled blue corn tortillas with choice of pinto or black beans, I chose the black beans, 2 fired eggs, salsa verde & sour cream, yummy! When here you must order a side of buttermilk pancakes you will love them! The coffee is delicious and it keeps on coming.

Delicious breakfast with yummay vegan options

By Jazzie D |

I'd give this a 5 if not for the rude hostess at the front door. I enjoyed my vegetarian dish the Huevos, Grilled blue corn tortillas with black or pinto beans, topped with white cheddar, 2 eggs fried, salsa verde & sour cream. Was excellent and huge I took some home and had for supper. We enjoyed a cup of coffee outside while we waited for a table. So if you have to wait go on in ask for a cupa Joe and enjoy while on the benches outside.

Afternoon Quick Bite

By tww7374 |

After meeting looking for place to get a quick bite. Ended up at Rita's and it was a good choice. We tried the vegan chilli and it was wonderful with just the right amount of hotness. One of my favorite dishes, huervos ranchero was great and served with Verde sauce rather than tradituonal red. Also had the arugula salad with grapefruitto, shrimp, cheese and pischoes. Staff very friendly

Family lunch

By klikp |

We waited for about 45 minutes Tobe seated outside. There were 11 in my our party. Menu had an extensive selection unfortunate for us, they.jad run out of soup of the day, as well as shrimp and grits. Service was okay, food was average. Been there, done that, don't know what all the hoopla regarding this restaurant is about.

Damn Good pancakes

By MissEMc75 |

We had yet again a blast eating some good tasty food at Rias bluebird. This time we all had early bird special with 2 times triple stack of pancakes. We will definitely be back .

Best breakfast in town

By Matt E |

This is my favorite place in the neighborhood. Everything on the menu is great. I have taken almost everyone I know here at some point or anougher and converted them all. There can be a line but for good reason.

They ARE the best oancakes

By Mo B |

Their menu cites a New York Times claim of having the world’s best pancakes...I’d have to agree (although I haven’t eaten pancakes globally). They were light and fluffy but still substantial. Just perfect! The ambiance is a quirky, blue-bird heavy (obviously) decor. We sat on the patio right next to the server entrance/exit which added to the “you’re in someone’s home” vibe. Craving those pancakes just writing about them!

Great breakfast

By ahmonroe5 |

We arrived at Ria's at 8:25 on a Saturday morning and all the tables inside were taken. I added our name to the list and we waited for 5 minutes before we were seated in the enclosed, heated, covered porch out back. The music was pretty loud, but we could have a conversation. I had banana and pecan pancakes with a side of locally sourced bacon. It was outstanding, the bananas were a perfect sweet element and the bacon was great. My dad got the brisket breakfast and it was great also. By the time we left, there was a long line of people waiting to eat. I'd advise going early, but the food is delicious!

Delicious

By Jspsihota |

Just keep in mind that the wait could be long. We waited about 45 minutes before we got a table. Food was so so good! We had the breakfast burrito and early bird breakfast. The skillet potato were the best. Great little find! Recommended!

Horrible hostess

By wsalin23 |

Atlanta has so many amazing restaurants and breakfast spots and I try to eat at a new one every time so I decided on Ria's. Bad mistake! The hostess took our name down, we were a party of 4, she said approximately 40 minutes. Right after me was a party of 4 as well. Long story short, that group plus another 4 top and a group of 3 all got sat before we did. When I asked how soon before I would be sat, she coldly replied, "I don't know, maybe a other 35 minutes!" When I told her groups were sat before me, she said, "no they didn't". When I told her the names and she saw they were crossed out from the list, instead of apologizing, she just said, "well you're here (pointing to my name on the list) and it's probably going to be 30-40 minutes". So, if you're between two places for breakfast, pick anything but Ria's. Save it till you have time to sit for two hours or till you've exhausted the many great breakfast spots Atlanta has to offer!!

Big surprise! 🥳

By William D |

I'm going to have to flip myself upside down or inside out to write this review, because frankly I'm pretty impressed in spite of my inclinations. My wife and I went here today around 11am to have a late breakfast/brunch. Now, normally I'm a real basic kind of breakfast guy, very particular about my morning chow, and when I say that I like good eggs, good meat (bacon/ham/sausage, etc.), good GRITS (yes all in CAPS 'cause I yelled it) and good biscuits, and I want alot of it and I want it cheap! So coming here for breakfast was a chancy thing for me because I had previously looked at menu online and figured the prices were a little higher than my usual breakfast joints. (I eat at Home Grown down the road or other smaller "mom and pop" local type places usually. So we went in, not too busy, sat at the counter bar, and within a very few minutes a polite staff member took our order. I had the Early Bird breakfast; 2 eggs over medium for me, sausage, fruit cup, and a biscuit, and on the side I had to try the pancakes with pecans and caramelized bananas. That was a lot of food. I ATE ALL OF IT. Everything was good. The eggs were perfectly over-medium and fresh, the sausage was exquisite with a smoky/spicy almost Italian sausage taste (they make the sausage there onsite), the biscuit was a square and almost looked like cornbread...so fresh and not dry at all with a great slightly buttery taste, the fruit cup was fresh - strawberries, grapes, cantaloupe, blueberries, and I think Crenshaw melon, and pineapple. After I ate all that I attacked the pancakes; now I'm not a big pancake guy because I don't normally like sweet stuff for my breakfast but there pancakes were so good I almost slapped myself off the barstool. The pancakes themselves were large, moist, fluffy and tasty by themselves without any syrup or jam or anything, and the sprinkled pecans and caramelized bananas were the bees knees! A MUST try for anyone (my wife also not big pancake fan but she liked it so much she finished slapping me off the barstool!) My wife had the grilled chicken BLT and she loved it. Chicken was tender and moist, the bacon and lettuce and tomatoes were fresh; I took a bite and liked it so much I returned the favor and smacked her off her barstool! (LOL jk, of course). For her side she had the squash with curry soup. It was delicious but not very spicy. No one got slapped eating that. I washed my meal down with a fresh cup of coffee which was also fresh and the right strength. They have all kinds of different creamers so you're not stuck with just half and half like I did. So after all the gluttonous gorging and pretend violence, we paid our tab and left. Summary: Location: Great, right off Memorial Drive across from Oakland Cemetery. Parking: Typical downtown - cramped and hideous but you can find ample parking around the joint. Service: Above par for area; everyone was local-ish and friendly enough. Food: Stupid good food. I could eat there daily. Prices: a bit pricey for my usual breakfast, we paid about $50 (20% standard gratuity added in). Prices are on par with other local eateries. Overall definitely a 5 star experience for a breakfast/brunch/lunch place. Highly recommend and will return. No more slapping allowed next time (🤪).

Good

By Alyssa |

I'm not a big fan of pancakes and I think I have only eaten them in IHOP before. these are much tastier, enough to notice the difference. And late is very good too. The only constant was waiting time.

one of the best breakfast places I've seen

By jef-grr |

This small, quirky place really charmed me. I arrived for a meeting at 8 and was surprised to see that they didn't open until 8 -- a bit late for a breakfast place. It's small, perhaps 15 tables. The menu is not enormous, but I sensed from watching the food coming out that they made up for this in care. I ordered a dish that involved brisket stewed in a tomato broth served with baguette and poached eggs that was about as good as it can get. Excellent. Very good coffee as well. Service was top-notch. Loved this place and would return in a heartbeat. Parking was easy in the neighborhood as well.

Sooo yummy

By CWjupiter |

Local friend brought me there while I was visiting. Super friendly and one of the best breakfasts I've had in a while. I had the pancakes with caramelized bananas. 2 were more than enough. It was like eating bananas foster. So delicious. Also ordered a biscuit/ large and flaky fresh. Paired with a large glass of fresh OJ, this FL girl was in heaven! Didn't need anything again until dinner!

I wouldn't again

By Philip E |

Tried this place - very busy Not a lot of parking available Place smelled like an ashtray Food was a little pricey but tasty I had the short stack (w/Georgian Pecans (up charge $2)) Careful with the syrup - they don't give you much and then charge you for more ($1.5) ...2nd thought (just dropped a star) I won't return. The best part about the breakfast at Ria's was my date and I will take her somewhere nicer.

Excellent Experience, they are Bright Light

By 87vette |

If you are in Downtown ATL and do not eat Breakfast here you missed a treat. Diverse and excellent menu, something for everyone. Staff is great, helpful, knowledgable, and steady. Ria's is small but does have an outdoor patio, parking can be difficult. you might have to drive to find parking in area. The Pancakes, Omelet, and Burrito are excellent. Julie lead us in the right direction on what to order!

Breakfast

By Staff61 |

This was probably the best breakfast I've had since I don't remember when. Stopped by on our way to Florida and wished we were staying in Atlanta to try all the menu item. Huevos was fantastic! Black beans, egg.... Fantastically seasoned perfectly prepared. Looking for reasons to visit Atlanta so we can have breakfast here again!!

Get the pancakes!

By rjd21 |

The banana pancakes were amazing! This was one of, if not, the best breakfasts I had while visiting Atlanta. We timed it perfectly so that we didn't have to wait for a table (around 9:30). When we left, there were probably 20 people waiting to be seated. The staff was incredibly friendly and the rest of the food we had was great! I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Good but not sure it would be worth a long wait

By Angie H |

Don't get me wrong, the food is excellent but people were waiting a long time for tables. Once seated, it took almost an hour to be served. There didn't seem to be a sense of urgency to turn tables.

Delicious brunch

By Michelle C |

Excellent service at Ria's and a fun indoor/outdoor seating space option that was still cool even though the temperatures were in the 90s with high humidity. Tasty breakfast-- the pancakes were good, as were the grits.

Eclectic vibe and good food

By Kyianah |

We waited about 40 minutes be to be seated at this quaint and eclectically designed restaurant. We pleasantly surprised by the heated patio which doubled the amount of seating space. The food was pretty good, I ordered the Bluebird Burrito, while my boyfriend ordered the Fat Stack pancakes. The burrito was vegetarian and had way too many black beans but I enjoyed it. Also, we liked the short stack of pancakes, they were not as good as Buttermilk Kitchen but they were fluffy. This restaurant does not do any accommodations so be aware of that. The special of the day was a short stack of pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream, which sounded delicious but when my boyfriend went to order it with an extra pancake they did not allow it🤨 Other than that hiccup, they do have about 15 parking spots which was surprising seeing it’s in the city. But my bf and I enjoyed the vibe.

Wonderful Brunch

By Penny B |

I had this great Tofu Bowl with black beans, tofu and pesto. Super start to a day! Fabulous vegetarian choices.

Excellent food great service

By Traveler |

We were around the neighborhood and got hungry and we just decided were looks packed of locals thats a sign it is a good place. We dis not miss at it. The restaurant itself is very trendy looking and clean. The food is amazing we got the banana pancakes and the slow roasted brisket with eggs. Good prices and coffee very hot for a cold winter morning. The briskest was spicy and well cooked. We strongly suggest a visit.

OMG!!

By Connie B |

THE BEST Ever!! Homemade jam and The Best Pancakes!!!! Will go back!! Service was also very good too! It was my favorite place in Atlanta that we went to!!

Delicious breakfast !

By Paulina D |

Breaskfat consisted of yogurt parfait, cappuccino with organic soy milk, banana pancakes, and eggs/ sausage biscuit were all to die for

Yummy, and I loved the staff!

By kenlin11 |

I had no idea what to expect other than breakfast. However, I was happily surprised to get Shrimp and Grits for breakfast...delicious! The staff were all attentive and helpful, a pleasure! This place was just down the street from my sweetheart's son, who joined us. We then walked across the street to the Historical Cemetery. Great Family Sunday.

Just the pancakes!

By Nikzleez |

We arrived just prior to opening so were able to be seated. Although it is "outdoor," it was still within and enclosed tent. The pancakes were phenomenal and worth the trip, because those are hard to get right for my taste (top 5 ANYWHERE). Service was prompt, but a little brisk at times. I ordered the Ria's burrito, but should have read closer as there is no meat. This would normally be okay, but it tasted like plain beans and eggs in a huge flora tortilla. It was a miss for me. Another member of the party felt the same about the cheese quesadilla. I wouldn't make a special trip, unless I were in the area AND craving pancakes. Otherwise, I would order differently.

Awesomely Surprised!

By Yessam2000 |

We had to wait a pretty long time. But the wait was well worth it! The pancakes with the bananas was SO good!! The food was fresh and so well made. I actually had a chance to speak with the chef/cook. The staff and workers were very gracious and I loved the atmosphere.

Eclectic Brunch

By scbleo |

Before arriving you need to allow for parking. It is quite limited in front and street parking is not always available. Plan to arrive early to allow for parking; then allow for wait time. Place is jammed packed with large groups. Tables can accommodate the crowds so that's not a problem. Service is good and friendly, just be patient for there is alot of activity here. Portions are okay. Menu has a wide variety of breakfast, brunch and lunch options. It was all very tasty. The decor was nice too.

Great visit from LV

By Jesse M |

Great place so comfy. Met my girlfriend there firm out of town. Very yummy food and relaxed neutral environment. Pricing was good too!

I cannot wait to go back!

By Tami R |

Delicious and wonderful staff. My omelette was out of this world, the best potatoes I’ve ever had for brunch. Waits can be long, wait it out. Banana foster pancakes looked amazing.

Rudeness

By Mel72 |

Such a shame. The food was very good and the welcome was good too. However unfortunately the waitress forgot to bring out change to us. When we requested it (having already tipped very generously) the guy behind the counter was incredibly rude to us. Unbelievably rude. This was a shame as it spoiled what had been a nice breakfast. No excuse for rudeness.

Outstanding food

By AtlantaDesigner |

Ria's is small but it packs a punch. Get there early as it fills up fast. Biscuit & gravy - to die for. The biscuits were so amazing, fluffy, light, flavorful! The gravy was not greasy. Pancakes with caramelized bananas - wow! I want to try everything on the menu and will be going back.

NYT recommendation

By Ellenfinn |

My husband and I adventured here based on the New York Times recommendation. It is a cool very hip place. We did wait 40 minutes to sit but we were able to enjoy a nice cup of coffee outside as we waited. The biggest surprise was it took 45 minutes to get our food once we ordered. Probably why we waited so long to be seated. The pancakes with nuts and bananas were very good and the Huevos eggs were good but cold. Service was average.

Very Good Breakfast

By CRMemphis |

We were referred to this place for breakfast and it didn't disappoint. The pancakes I had were tasty and my wife's special of brisket and poached eggs was also very good. A little difficult to find but worth the effort.

just delicious

By Sandra S |

The pates were very thing of that we thought but we impress, we ate delicious and different (I don't remember what we ordered), the pancakes were.... ohhh my God so soft and yummy!!... I need to go back ASAP!!

Delicious vegan breakfast options

By Melissa B |

We were amazed to find some excellent vegan breakfast options at this place. I had an amazing dish with scrambled tofu, black beans, avacado, and tomatoes. Its so good we have tried to recreate it at the house. Delicious! This is a popular place so be prepared for a bit of a wait, but its well worth it.

Top Breakfast - EVER

By travelinchicks |

We stumbled across this after needing a breakfast place to stop at on our trip from ATL to Lake Oconee. How fortunate! It was a little brisk out, but we loved the little outdoor set-up. Our table had a good amount of sun to warm us up. The service was impeccable. I had the Bionic Breakfast which was phenomenal - layers of amazing flavors. Even my meat and potatoes husband raved after reluctantly tasting it. His Early Bird breakfast was tasty and the white pepper gravy was a bonus. Definitely give this place a try.

Takes Patience, but Quite Tasty

By Drew A |

We went on a Friday around 11 am and we waited about a half an hour to sit down. I had the Traditional breakfast and man! The bacon was fantastic as was the sausage and the biscuit. Pretty much everything was tasty. The atmosphere was quirky and pleasant. Very friendly staff, but not overbearingly so. It was great.

Not the Best In the City

By LuckySpivey |

We came to check out this place because it is rated by several reviews as THE best place in Atlanta for breakfast, and there are some might fine breakfast places in our city. We also came because the web site promoted some scrumptious sounding specials, which we will never taste because 1. They didn't have them 2. "We don't start serving any of the specials before 9 or maybe 9:30." It was 8:45 when we were condescendingly told this by the wait staff. We ordered the "worlds best" pancakes with caramelized bananas. They were very good. Like having bananas foster for breakfast. Rating restaurants is subjective. Like rating pancakes. Atlanta has better restaurants. The world has better pancakes.

Funky atmosphere. Recommend the banh mi

By Bellatako |

Great brunch choice with delicious pancakes (for which I gather they are most famous). But I was most pleasantly surprised however by the banh mi sandwich. Would highly recommend that meal option.

Good Food

By VSheriff |

Staff is friendly in a cozy diner setting. There is seating inside the front door, and additional seating around the outside which is a completely covered patio. Restaurant does not take reservations over the phone so showing up early is a must. We waited about 45 min for breakfast so we wandered to the cemetery across the street while waiting. The food is good and there is a lot to choose from. The pancakes were decent and the biscuits and gravy are homemade. The servings are ample, so you will not leave hungry! GF options are available on the standard menu.

Superb Breakfast with an awesome soundtrack!

By Manwiththeplan86 |

Hit this place after reading reviews. Let me tell you it is awesome! Ordered the Daily Special Omelet, Pancakes with caramelized bananas and my lady got the breakfast burrito. It was decadent! Will definitely return again. My favorite part was them playing Radioheads greatest hits!

Great Breakfast

By Shauvy |

Visited Ria's for breakfast prior to visiting the Oakland Cemetery (see "Atlanta's top 20 must visit places" on TA and my review of the cemetery). On our servers recommendation I had the buttermilk pancakes with caramelized bananas and toasted pecans and it was delicious! My mother had the shrimp and grits and enjoyed it. The service was very efficient but could have been a little more friendly. I would definitely go here again.

Unexpectedly Quaint

By SametteMichal |

Not familiar with the area, we stopped by on our way to the airport. I was surprised by how packed it was and very little seating room inside Ria's, but we were seated fast; got there around 9:24 am and was seated within 14 to 15 min (told 10 min wait) with 3 couples ahead of us, which is pretty good. We both ordered the short stack, but I added the toasted pecans, which tasted a bit burnt, but this did not deter me. They don't have hash browns, so we ordered a side of skillet potatoes. It was okay, but nothing that we would order again. Service was quick and our server was very personable (sorry, I don't recall his name). The stacks were delicious! I wish I had ordered the fat stack - shame on me! Also, the price is very reasonable and I will definitely be back on the next airport run! This breakfast spot fills up fast, and there is a line of people waiting outside.

Out of the way but worth it

By 2653adele |

Well, how could you resist having pancakes which The NY Times declared as the best? Somehow we timed our visit perfectly and didn't have to suffer waiting outside. The bacon and sausage are divine.

Best pancakes in the South!!

By JD |

Went for a late breakfast with my family of 4. My youngest (who at 12, is a self-proclaimed pancake expert) was on cloud 9 with delight! Said they were the best pancakes he had ever eaten. My teenager could only find one thing to complain about - the 8 oz bottle of soda. My husband had the brisket which we saw on an episode of Georgia Traveler on public access. Wow! Broth to die for! I had the shrimp & grits which were seasoned to perfection. The location is awesome, the wait was reasonable then totally forgotten once we ate & the service is A+. Other than the mini drinks (they give you about 4 oz of milk in a glass to wash down the 3 big pancakes served), worth every mile I drove to get there. Just have water.

Great Food!

By Rebecca L |

We came here for lunch the Friday before Memorial Day weekend so we got a table right away. It's a small place with 8-10 tables inside, a counter with 6-8 seats, and some outdoor seating in the back. I had the brisket quesadilla and my guest had the Early Bird Special with eggs, sausage, and potatoes. Both were delicious! The restaurant automatically adds gratuity to the bill, but our waitress made sure we knew about it ahead of time. Our waitress was great and said that if you want to come on a weekend, you need to come by 8:30am or there will be a line.

Great breakfast place

By Mike C |

We were in town staying locally for the weekend and loved eating here from a food and environment perspective! The pancakes were fantastic as well as the eggs and potatoes. Go here.

Pretty darn good

By Tynisha A |

Well the other reviews were true... There is a monster wait. But it is worth it. The neighborhood is cute so we walked to the weekend farmers market at grant park and checked out he local digs while we waited 1.5 hours for a seat on Sunday mid-morning. But once seated our waiter was great and the food was "the south" meets "I don't want to die of heart disease." Thumbs up!

Best breakfast and brunch in the city.

By susanproperyoga |

This was my first choice for breakfast during my recent visit to Atlanta. It’s been about 6 years since I’ve been here after moving out of state and I have to say everything is as fantastic as I remembered. Excellent food options for many diet types for breaks and brunch. The atmosphere is comfortable and eclectic. I’m so glad that Ria’s is still an icon of Grant Park but sorry that Ria has passed. The servers are friendly and helpful. The owner and chef, Steve is such a great guy with a flair for making his menu different and interesting. Great food. Great people. Great atmosphere. Great location. Great gem of a restaurant.

Bluebird Morning

By Vince M |

Woke up one grey, cold November morning in Atlanta and felt a need for some comfort...and food. With none of the several breakfast options in my head speaking to me, I jumped in the car, picked up a Starbuck's and just started driving. After a while, almost as if by Divine Intervention, that "Funky little spot on Memorial Drive" popped into my head. Not remembering the name, I drove instinctively to the location (across from Oakland Cemetery) and there it still was - Ria's Bluebird. Not only was it still there physically, it was "still there" spiritually. The cool music, Brooklyn-esque vibe and - most notably- the great food were as good as I remember. Light-as-air pancakes, perfectly cooked eggs and bacon were all served in nice proportions at reasonable prices. Additionally, the service was excellent (although I got the impression that camping out at the counter is not encouraged. This place is VERY popular!) It is nice to know that in this angst filled world, you can still find comfort - and good food - when you need it. Just drive to Ria's.

Breakfast

Went for breakfast. A nice outside porch eating area. The food was good. Service was good. Not your usual breakfast dishes. But over all very good

Don't know about the food-But service is vile

By Eric007MD |

How do I write this review when I never tried the food. Oh, perhaps to address the lack of service- that the "hostess" and the staff are the most juvenile, unprofessional group I've encountered. Going on a recommendation I stopped in to grab breakfast before the flight back to DC. The hostess began by "put your name down", not good morning, how are you..just an abrupt directive from someone, God forbid, that could have been my daughter. There were, oh about 5 people before me. I went outside and discovered multiple EMPTY tables in a shaded alcove unoccupied yet here we were all waiting for a table while Miss H cavorted either her tattooed co-workers ignoring the patrons.when I approached her and explained I had limited time and that there were empty tables outside -she said "there are people before you"..yes, that is true but there were 6 people, including me, waiting yet there were at least 10 empty seats out back. Note to owner - if you care, I suggest you manage your manager since she/he is NOT doing their job. You lost 3 patrons today since a couple noted the interaction and decided there were other places one could have an equally delicious souther breakfast in Atlanta, i.e. The Silver Skillet where the staff is as sweet as Georgia honey! Just know, as a pancake affectionado, Bluebirds pancakes could have not be any better than Silver Skillet.

Poor Service

By StormDebris |

Among the first customers to enter at opening. Waitress was rude and non responsive. Didn't get her name, but slim with nose ring. After waiting for 40 minutes for simple breakfast order and watching all tables around us get served, pay check and get served, I called the waitress over to our table for status. Her response, in an offensive tone was that we have 15 tables to serve and tables upstairs. And your table is not special and have to just wait in line. Mind you we were the 3rd table seated. Then she quickly walked away. I gathered my composure and just left. Never to return again and would not recommend this place to anyone.

We visited Ria's and were extremely pleased!! The service was good. The atmosphere is unique. The food was awesome! I'd highly recommend the banana pecan pancakes!

Simply awesome breakfast!!

By guitarfreek64 |

We were in ATL for The Kids 19th b-day celebration and we decided to hit up Ria's Bluebird on our way out of town as we'd heard great things on TV and via social media. Man, the hype was spot on! Even though it was a bit chilly on this particular Sunday morning (around 10:00 am), there was a small crowd milling around outside waiting to be seated. We got in after about 20 minutes and almost immediately had our orders taken. The coffee was fresh, hot and delicious and while the wait was maybe a tad bit longer than you would have at some other places, the food was definitely worth it! I had the pecan pancakes and a side of breakfast potatoes and trust me when I say, those pancakes were incredible! The potatoes were chopped very course and scattered on the flat-top...crunchy and fluffy at the same time, they were really good. The Lady had one of the specials, a crab-cake eggs benedict with a chipotle hollandaise sauce that she absolutely loved. I tasted the dish and was really impressed with the complexity of the sauce and the perfect balance between heat and flavor. The Kid had the Brisket Breakfast and while I'm sure it's not for everyone, that dish is pure awesomeness! Tender, slow-roasted brisket is pulled and served in a bowl of super-flavorful broth, with two poached eggs in the middle and a mini-load of crusty country-style bread on the side. The Kid described it as "next-level" and "breakfast heaven"! We noted as we were leaving that the crowd waiting outside was even larger than when we arrived and we all understood why. Great food, prepared and served by people that obviously care about what they're doing. Next time you're in Atlanta, check it out!

Busy Sunday Brunch- Go Early!

By susan n |

My daughter and I went there early to try and beat the Sunday brunch crowd. We were there at 9:30 a.m. We still had to wait for 20 minutes to get seated but weren't surprised as we knew the place was popular. Once we got seated, it took 40 minutes for our food to be delivered. We didn't get served any bread rolls or anything to tide us over. The people next to us were smart and ordered some croissants. Once the food came out, it was delicious. We both got the Early Bird Specials. Out eggs were done just right (mine: Over Medium, daughter's: Over Easy). The food was at the right temperature. I got bacon with mine and it was really delicious. The bacon comes from a local company. I can't say that I have EVER had better bacon. She is vegetarian and got the soysausage and liked it. We both got the potatoes. They were super-tasty too, however a tad bit salty. WE had a side of the pancakes with pecans and they were every bit as good as advertised. Best in the US according to the NY Times and I won't disagree. Our portions were generous. We couldn't finish everything and took some home in a to-go box. I only knocked off one point because service was slow. I don't fault the servers or the cooks. This is a popular place. Still... I was hungry. If you go, order something to tide you over while you wait. Bottom Line: I would go again, but perhaps even earlier.

Amazing Pancakes!

By CB |

I got a short stack with pecans, bananas, and chocolate chips...holy crap! They were SO GOOD! I would come here again just for those. The arugula salad was okay. Service was initially a tad bit slow, but they kept me informed of their wait time for a table. My drink was constantly filled, and the food came out quickly. You have to try the pancakes!

Favorite Breakfast in ATL

By Marc D |

I come here almost weekly now, crave there great coffee and there breakfast - Brisket Bfast and Pancakes are amazing!! Atmosphere is great, even when solo-dining. Staff is personable, with spot on service. I recommend this place all the time.

Down home deliciousness

By pelarge |

We came on a Friday during “lunch” (although breakfast is always served) and waited about 5 minutes for a counter seat. It’s a small, cozy restaurant full of charm with some outdoor seating available in nice weather. Our food was so delicious! The sandwich special had my name all over it … grilled sourdough, ham, Brie, thinly sliced apple, and a spicy mustard sauce. So good! My husband had the always-yummy gravy and biscuits. 😊 Service is casual and friendly, with enough attention without feeling smothered. Perfection!

I get why there's always a line

By Amy K |

I got to come here during the weekday when there wasn't a line and sat at the counter recently. I totally get the hype! The food is delicious, the staff is so kind, all around - yes! I had the omelet of the day which involved spicy Italian meat and pesto and it was amazing. I got it with grits and a biscuit and both were so good. Great coffee... all around, just so good.

Stacks Up Tall Above The Rest

By MsSeriousAtl |

We visited Ria's Bluebird for Sunday brunch as a family and I have to say that all of the five-star reviews are true! The orange juice (although not fresh-squeezed) was delicious and the pancakes (we ordered ours with pecans and bananas) were out of this world. Our server was prompt and pleasant and we were seated near a water feature in the back dining room, which made for a lovely atmosphere. The long wait was a bit of a downside but we walked to the Oakland Cemetery to kill the time and returned within minutes of being offered a table. It was a great experience and we will be back for more pancakes soon.

Leave your hotel and have breakfast here!

By Joe B |

We asked who had the best downtown breakfast....well, they have it here! The pancakes are awesome... And the Benedict superb!

Small hipster spot, good breakfast!

By sunlovinmama |

Very small, but we sat at the bar. Seemed do be in a sketchy area. Service was great. Coffee was good. Prices were decent. They had peach and strawberry preserves out and a coffee bar table.

OMG!!!!!!

By danielrmason |

I was near the area visiting the cat cafe and decided i was hungry. I saw Ria's and had heard how good it was. When you walk in the place is kinda divey looking but dont let that detour you. I had the red pepper turkey sandwitch with a side of humus. OMG the humus is house made . The waitress said it was good and she was right. I asked for sweet tea however they only offer unsweet. This is the South who does that. However i got a mexican coke(coke in a glass bottle). The red pepper turkey sandwitch was toasted with loads of red pepper turkey ,avacado and melted cheese. I been craving to go back every since my last visit.

Everyone leaves happy

By sharon_mejia |

I had been to Atlanta a couple of years ago and hated how I could not visit this place before; I was very happy to get here on this trip. I was attracted to this restaurant based on all the various options, as I like to eat vegetarian and am dairy free but my wife is a meat and butter lover. They were the PERFECT breakfast choice for both of us. First I have to rave about their coffee. I love coffee, I spend plenty of money buying really good coffee; this is one of the best coffee's I have EVER had, no question. The hardest part was deciding what to eat. We loved the omelette and the bionic breakfast but then ordered biscuits on the side that were to die for!! Every bite was super delish!! There was a line out the door (so bring a jacket) but it is well worth the wait and the service was genuinely helpful and kind. We are excited to go back and try more of their food on our next trip back. Loved everything!

Yummy VEGAN options!

By TravelNurse123 |

We stopped by here Christmas Eve right at their time of opening... 8 am sharp...Within 10 minutes the restaurant was almost at max capacity. I had the pancakes and yes the reviews are true....They are very delicious! I also had a side of SOY sausage. It was great! My friend had the Frittata which was fresh and delicious. Our food was out to us in no time...The waitress was provided excellent service. I was happy to have a vegan options available. This place is great for nonvegans and vegans. I would definitely return !

Long Wait for the Best Breakfast in Atlanta

By brandie346 |

On a busy Sunday we waited quite a while to be seated but once we got our food - WOW. Scrambled eggs, house-made sausage patty, skillet potatoes were all delicious. Shared a stack of pancakes with my friends and they were fantastic too. Be prepared to wait - and be prepared to eat!

Highly Recommend

By Jaye L |

Fantastic experience! We waited approximately 10 minutes at 9am. Food was delicious! Burrito was huge. I suggest sharing. Service was wonderful and atmosphere was eclectic. Great breakfast joint!

Delish!

By OkomfoAdwoa |

Just ate brunch here with a friend of mine. I had shrimp & grits which was absolutely delicious. My friend had a fried tempeh dish. She said it was good as well. We shared pancakes because we'd heard so many great things about them. They were delicious as well. The wait was about 20-30 mins and well worth it. I think the server may have been training because someone came and stood by him while he took the order, but he was awesome as well. Everything was reasonably priced. I will be back!

Good but long wait

By bio84 |

We queued for 45min outside We waited another 45 min inside for the food to arrive at the table. Its not acceptable. On the other side, food is good especially pancakes and granola. Definitely cheap on the bill as well, we paid 50 bucks in 4 pax... So it comes the 4th start out of the bill

Looking for Vegan Breakfast Option?

By Naturehike |

I found Ria's on a Google search for vegan food, which wasn't in large supply in Atlanta, particularly for breakfast on Sunday morning. The place is kinda hipster, small, but cute. There was a line, but it moved quickly, and they had benches outside. My service was just OK, but I think it was just my server, as the person who was seated after I was got a full list of specials, and coffee warm ups. My food was awesome, and healthy, my coffee was good and they offer milk alternates, so I am recommending Ria's for people who eat plant based.

Anything you could want for breakfast

By happyflyer45 |

They have a variety of breakfast dishes but are proud the New York Times called theirs the world’s best. Not going to second that but they are good, if costly, with warm syrup and topped with toasted pecans or caramelized banana. They are stingy with the pecans. The coffee is good. The service is average. The atmosphere is funky.

Quick Fast Yummy!

Delicious 😋 Fast. Well be back again and again. Eat here ATL. Take your friends. Take your family! Perfect grits and veggie menu. We're fat and happy!

Great Neighborhood Brunch

By MissippiSwagman |

1st, it's a fun menu. 2nd, it's far from Ordinary fare. It's small enough to feel neighborhood-like, but busy enough to feel really popular, even on Monday morning. El Bluebird Burrito was grand in all ways and I like salsa verde. The brisket was a knockout.

DELICIOUS!

By MISS D |

This food is crazy good!!! I love this place. The mere factor that most items on the menu are healthy for you, this place is a go to. Those carmelized bananas are ridiculous! They really need to do a better job with sitting the guests because the wait can be a horrible take back.

Worth the Wait.

By Dora R |

I've tried to eat here several times in the past, but the line was so long that my boyfriend and I usually just gave up and went elsewhere. Last Saturday we finally got a chance to eat here, and the food was beyond waiting for. We were seated at the counter, where I started my morning with a delicious house blend of coffee (It's bottomless too, althought I opted to just have one cup). For the meal I opted to get a "bionic breakfast", which is a vegan potato, mushroom and zucchini hash topped with alfalfa sprouts and some kind of special sauce. The whole thing was delicious and definitely the kind of breakfast I needed to give me energy for the rest of my busy day. The best part is that my bill barely scratched $12. If you want a good breakfast and don't mind standing outside for 10 - 15 minutes, give Ria's a try.

Delicious place to sit eat and put the world to rights

By Alex T |

The food here is fantastic! The old diner setting is wonderfully decorated. It's conveniently located and they have plenty of parking. Avoid the lunch rush and get there a little earlier. The pancakes are very delicious, as are the brisket breakfast! We went mid-week but I expect the weekend breakfast and brunch rush to be insane!

Tummy pleasing breakfast

By Sherry H |

Went for breakfast and short wait for a table. The breakfast items were all excellent! The pancakes were AMAZING! Busy packed place with efficient and friendly staff! Have to go back!

Delicious food.

By Tochi4ever2000 |

My husband and I had breakfast at this place. We highly recommended it. The food was very good. A high end breakfast. The biscuits were very soft and yummy. The place was crowded, but the service was fast and attentive.

Not What We Expected

By Gina S |

Busy place with vibrant atmosphere but food was disappointing. Pancakes were average but biscuits and gravy were not edible. Definitely not a Southern breakfast.

Amazing food!

By brobinson515 |

Was visiting for thanksgiving holiday and figured we would try something different. The pancakes were the best I've ever had! Triple stack of chocolate chip will have you in a coma! Do yourself a favor and try them!

Niche diner, brunch yummies and great service - what else could there need to be?

By Dayn R |

Inside appeared more like a sit-down cafe-style diner but outside was 180 degrees! There is a bamboo "forest" that runs along the outer section of the patio/alcove seating and the mural and paintings inside were just cool. Food and service was great so upon reading a few other reviews that talked about "quality" or "service" issues I think someone was just having a bad day. My daughters loved the food and although we were in a rush to get somewhere else everything was timed well and came out fresh and ready to eat! Would recommend and will definitely visit again.

Solid Breakfast Food!

By William A H |

Truly enjoy the visit to Ria's. There was an average wait time. We were greeted with a smile and questioned if we needed any assistance with the menu. Our server, was pleasant, professional, and attentive. The food was great. My only negative has nothing to do with the restaurant. It's the parking. However, it's the nature of the beast (Atlanta). Try Ria's!

Go early!

By R.. |

We finally made it to this very popular restaurant and it did not disappoint. Pancakes and egg dishes were excellent. Coffee was good. Friendly service. Go early because it's small and the wait can be long.

Rise and shine!

By bradshawgirl |

I met up with a local friend for a hearty breakfast here during a recent business trip to Atlanta. This place was hopping! We waited a little bit (but not too long) before being seated, then dug into all kinds of yumminess. I had the omelette of the day with about a million sides and a big cup of strong coffee. Prices are reasonable, food is good, and service is speedy. Be ready to wait a little bit on busy mornings, though!

Great spot for breakfast!

By Charlie59_11 |

We visited Ria's Bluebird as recommended by our vacation hosts. Great choice! Small, friendly cafe that often has a queue due to good reputation locally. Friendly welcoming waitress. Freshly prepared, tasty food from nice menu. Pancakes are fantastic! Coffee ok - only disappointing thing about Ria's. Certainly recommend this place.

Ria's, you're so awesome we even bought a shirt

By MeggyFin |

I'm a big breakfast lover, and Ria's Bluebird's menu made it very hard to chose. But I'm glad I went with basically ALL of Yelp's recommendations and got the caramelized banana pancakes, and we also ordered the breakfast burrito. I can see why people them the World's Best Pancakes. And they may have been... except for the obscene amount of syrup they were swimming in. As a breakfast fan, I like to be able to manage my own condiment ratio. Too much syrup IMHM (in my humble mouth) can ruin a perfect pancake. Along those lines, the only reason this place isn't getting a 5 star review is because their "no substitutions" policy. Would the pancakes be better with the syrup on the side? Yes. Would the breakfast burrito (which was INCREDIBLE) taste even better if the avocado could have been included INSIDE? Absolutely. But other than that, Ria's, you're so awesome we even bought a shirt.

Sunday brunch worth the wait!

By Phebe T |

We waited about 40 minutes at around noon on a Sunday...I am not sure if that is a long time for this spot or not, but it ended up being worth it! During our wait we went over to Java Cats cat cafe in the next parking lot over (where we parked) to watch the cats and have a very good cup of coffee, so the wait didn’t seem so bad at all! The food was excellent, especially the stuffed zucchini/poached eggs special, sweet potato cake, and the pancakes (the “short stack” may be short in number, but not in size)!

Brunch it up

By TeamCap |

This is delicious, delightful and all things that make Sunday brunch the best meal of the week. Except ... no alcohol so you won’t be enjoying a Mimosa or Bloody Mary. We didn’t let that stop us, so don’t let it stop you. We arrived around 10:30am and had about a 25 minute wait. Use the time to silently judge the thickness of townie beards and try to read the numerous ankle tattoos and the time will fly by. The service was outstanding. The food was as good as it looked (maybe better).

Best Flavor for Brunch

By Weskicolo |

Ebrik coffee told us about Ria's Bluebird. We decided to order the 3 most popular dishes. Shrimp, cheese grits, banana, pecan buttermilk pancakes and breakfast brisket. We walked into Oakland Cemetery while waiting for Ria's. Our waitress who was a regular customer prior to joining the wait staff, helped us navigate the menu. She suggested the three entrees we ordered. I wish we had a restaurant like this in Denver. Great neighborhood to explore as well.

it was good, they just messed up in calling us

By Ashi_Evanston |

the entrées were very good, since they include uncommon vegetarian dishes and I try to have things like to be healthy (and better for the animals). The Tempeh was flavorful. my complaint is that apparently they wrote my name down not very neatly (they told us ~45 minute wait). So when they called us after 40 minutes, it was not my name that they called -- they called another name with similar spelling (since someone did not read it correctly). So we sat outside for an extra 20 MINUTES (on top of the first 40) before the person I was with went and asked them again how long our wait would be. So then they finally gave us the next table. My complaints are that 1) they did not write my name down neatly enough for themselves to read. 2) that if I didn't answer at 11:10, why didn't they call again by 11:30 instead of calling other names! If they had tried complimenting me part of our brunch, then maybe I would have given them 3 or 4 stars. But I still would have been an unhappy customer. In short, you'll probably have a good experience there. The waits were long, the food was good, and if they don't write your name down badly so that they call a different name you probably won't be as unhappy as I was. I still tipped them well, since I didn't want the waitress to feel like it was her fault. I probably should have just tipped badly and then written on the receipt "Next time the host should write the name down neatly."

OK

By littlerocky5 |

Lots of people rave about this place. Not sure I understand why, but the food and service were fine though unremarkable.

Terrific breakfast

By JImMac818 |

We have some great places for breakfast in Atlanta but now may have our new number one. Yes we had to wait. Parking was not easy. If you have time and want some creative and well prepared food this is the place. We had the brisket with poached eggs and shrimps and grits. At the recommendation of our server since this was our first visit we got a side of their made from scratch pancakes served with real maple syrup. Simply, yum! We will be back.

best breakfast

By Brandon T |

Whenever I visit Atlanta I have to eat here. Everything i order is good. Nice relaxing environment. The wait is ridiculous on Sunday because EVERYONE wants to eat there. Worth the wait. Wish it was larger. Casual.

Great grits, biscuits, pancakes!

By 1073BB |

Ria’s Bluebird is a really “happening” place and, although we had heard of it and had put it on our bucket list, we were there for the first time thanks to the galvanizing force of our granddaughter and her boyfriend. Our party of four had to be all together before being seated. We were the last to arrive—I hopped out while my husband searched for a hard-to-find parking spot. After he joined us, we waited outside for a short while on a Monday in December (it was a brisk day!) before being shown to the enclosed, heated patio. Brunch is served all day. My husband and I both chose the Early Bird Special ($10) of two eggs cooked to order (tofu can be substituted); a choice of bacon, sausage or soysage; grits or sweet potato cake, and English muffin or biscuit. I went with the bacon, grits (best I’ve ever had; super creamy and texture just right), and the biscuit for which they are famous. Ditto their pancakes, which the NY Times reviewed as “the world’s best.” We split a side order of a “short stack” (two for $5) and found them as advertised. They were as large as the plate (!) but the serving of hot maple syrup was skimpy. I have a feeling everything else on the menu is equally as good so I can’t wait to return!

Breakfast Burrito

By fhv_58 |

I really enjoyed Ria’s Bluebird! The atmosphere was artsy and neat. The food was delicious with big portions. They have vegan options which were also nice. Most dishes had the option of substituting tofu or tempeh. I recommend the breakfast burrito and biscuits and gravy. It’s right across from the Oakton Cemetery too, which we ended up checking out right after brunch.

Great breakfast place for vegetarians

By WicketSC |

Ria's is definitely my go to breakfast place. If you are looking for vegetarian or vegan options there are several delicious breakfast items on the menu. I have them all and they are all great. I usually order a side of soysage as well. I do not know what they do to it, but it is delicious. I can never replicate it at home. This has become a neighborhood place for me since I moved to the Old Forth Ward areas of Atlanta. Ria's has a great feel and vibe and I always feel welcome.

Interesting Twist

By Sambui42 |

If you want a breakfast experience off the beaten path, this is your pick. Ria's has an organic variation on breakfast and lunch food. Beef Brisket is EXCELLENT! It has a very earthy crunch feel and is laid back. Excellent option if you want an experience other than the traditional breakfast cafe/diner.

Breakfast

By Tricia W |

Nice little diner. Tables were full so we sat at the bar. Staff was friendly and mostly attentive. Food was brought out at the same time. And all still hot. Which was a nice change for our trip thus far. My eggs were perfect. Cooked whites and runny yolks...mmmmm Hubs had the omelet of the day and couldn't finish it all. Under $30 for two ppl. A touch more than I would normally spend for breakfast. But hey....this IS Atlanta#

YUM and such a quirky spot

By Carolyn W |

Fantastic pancakes with peaches and light ginger cream. Benedict with corn bread, mustard greens and chicken with blueberry syrup. Breakfast burrito. On the cool patio under twinkly lights and ceiling fans. We loved and shared everything we had. Only reason I'm not giving it 5 is the food took a long time to come out. Prepare to wait 30 minutes to be seated, but the scene is happy and the people watching is good. We'll be back.

Very good breakfast in a very cool place downtown ATL!

I had read about the place in a book called ‘Where chefs eat’ so I knew it was going to be cool and good food. And yes, 100% confirmed...an alternative places for the cool kids but the food is fresh, great taste and the vibe is very chill, relax and positive. And important, good coffee! Not very simple for a European who is used to Italian expresso every day. There even was a waiting line...for a breakfast place!!! That says something! But it was worth waiting. We waited about 20 min. The place is right across Oakland Cemetry, also a very nice place to take a walk! Take a bit of everything but end with the pancakes...they truly are very very good.

Brunch Brilliance

By Seanny |

I headed here on my first morning in Atlanta still suffering from jet lag. This place is everything I wanted from a brunch eatery. It has great choice, fresh juice, good coffee and AMAZING brisket. 10/10 would recommend and the staff are so lovely too and happy to give a recommendation. Bonus points for being openly anti nuclear on the menu!

Another first! Time to head

By hilariog967 |

Another first! Time to head home but had to get some breakfast! Found this place and it looked awesome. Came in and the service was good and it smelled delicious. We had a party of 9, and they made room. Thank you. We ordered our food and we we’re very happy. Delicious!

Yummy food. Historic area.

By Shari L |

This was my first time here and I can't believe I hadn't been before because I LIVE for brunch. It's also right across from the historic Grant Park Cemetery. So while you wait for your table you'll have a view. I met a friend here and I love that the menu is short and sweet. Sometimes when you have too many options it's hard to narrow it down. I opted on the shrimp and grits and me and a friend shared the delicious carmelized banana nut pancakes. Like seriously these are probably the best pancakes I've ever had! Also breakfast isn't complete without their delicious skillet biscuit. While I did enjoy the shrimp and grits I have to say that it was a little too much sauce for my taste and not enough grits and shrimp. I'll probably go back and give it another try.

Delicious food, nice people, extremely slow service

By Mariam A |

We arrived on sunday morning right before the ridiculously long wait lines. Even then, the services was incredibly slow for breakfast! The food however was quite delicious. The breakfast burrito was especially good!

This was a great breakfast

By MKB1701 |

For our last meal in Atlanta on the way to the airport, we popped into Ria's on a Tuesday morning. We had tried to brunch there the day prior, but there was easily a 20 minute wait and we thought that was a very conservative estimate. Well, we quickly understood why. From the coffee to the fresh ingredients to the quick service, everything was spot on. Our eggs and my brother-in-laws breakfast brisket was cooked to perfection, and I even ordered a pancake to see if they were worth all the fuss (they were). Everything was reasonably priced to boot. If you're hankering a good breakfast, Ria's is the place to get it when in Atlanta.

Great Service and Great Food!

By Beanjoshua79 |

Me and my friend recently traveled to Atlanta for the weekend. We took the MARTA from the airport to the MLK Memorial exit and wanted to grab some breakfast before heading to see some exhibits. We randomly chose this place on our phone. Mainly because it was only a 5 min walk from the train station. About halfway there it started raining. Once we arrived we put our name on the waiting list as the restaurant was packed around 10 am. One of the waitresses noticed we were wet and that we still had our carry on luggage with us. She immediately offered to store our luggage behind their counter and provided us with hand towels to dry off while we waited for a table. We were seated in about 15 min. Our waiter was kind and attentive and the food was DELICIOUS! I had the Bluebird vegetarian burrito and it was amazing. My only complaint is that it did take a while for us to get our food while other patrons who came in after us ate before us. However, the superb customer service and the tasty food more than made up for it. I would definitely go back!

Delightful!

By OneBlueDog |

I got the Spinach salad, while my companion got a cheese and black bean quesidilla. Both were excellent, as was the service. The atmosphere was artsy. Street parking was easy and free. I would return when in the area.

Great for both vegetarians and carnivores!

By Chinabel |

My husband and I came here and the food was amazing. Me being a vegetarian and him being a meat eater we often struggle to find somewhere that we can both enjoy the food and this caters well for all tastes. The food was great and lots of options for both, and absolutely delicious! It was my first time having biscuits and gravy (I'm from England) and was absolutely delicious! The service was great too and we sat in the patio which is nice and relaxing with great artwork and visuals on the wall. It's only open until 3pm and we did have to wait for a table as it was very busy (though we only waited 5 minutes) so would recommend coming early or allowing time for your visit. Would thoroughly recommend!

BEST Vegetarian food!

By Meghna P |

This is my all time Favorite Brunch place, my husband and I come here atleast once a month to eat brunch. The wait is pretty long, but its worth it.

It's OK, but no reason to go back

By Jab1776 |

I had the shrimp and grits, which were too soupy for my taste and a bit bland. I had high hopes for this dish when I read the menu, but the delivery was subpar. The poblano peppers were nice, but they seemed to add too little to the overall "blah" dish. The other entrees at my table seemed OK, but nothing wonderful. In fact, I'm not sure why there are so many high reviews. It may just be hipsters feeling that they need to support a hipster place.

Yummy pancakes

By Mjkunz48 |

Good pancakes! NY Times rated! I also got the breakfast burrito. Good flavor except it was too spicy. Unexpected.

Always great!

By Jason C |

I had Ria's Bluebird for breakfast today and the food and service were great. My wife and I sat at the bar and enjoyed the pancakes and a Bluebird Burrito. The food was awesome and our waitress was great too. This is one of the coolest spots in town to grab breakfast.

Brunch

By Patsy D |

Upon entering we were barked at by two different people to sign the pad and "go wait outside." No smiles, no friendly customer service. It was rainy and chilly but we did what we were told. A hostess then came and retrieved us and escorted us through the back doors to the patio seating. She was so incredibly rude. Again, no smile. Just very matter of fact and lacking in personality. Our waitress was friendly enough. The food was great. We both had omelets and it was delicious. My bill was $26. The waitress asked me if I needed change after giving her $40. This is presumptuous and rude. I asked her for some change. I wanted to leave a $6 or $7 tip. She brought me a $10 and 4 ones. Guess who got a $4 tip? Don't be rude and entitled. I wanted to tip 25%. I think the staff needs some customer service training. Even though the food was great, if I don't feel welcome or valued I am likely to not return.

Birthday Breakfast at Ria's

By Merry88Traveler |

The restaurant is a fantastic place for breakfast! I loved the quaint location, the décor, and atmosphere. I had a traditional breakfast which consisted of grits, breakfast potatoes, scrambled eggs, bacon, and biscuit (everything was great!). When I say the food at Ria's is delicious; it is delicious and the service was awesome, too (Trevor was friendly and stayed on top of refills and asking if we needed anything . . .we sat at the bar). Ria's menu has a variety of foods to choose from and they are best known for their caramelized banana pancakes. In summary great atmosphere, great food, great service, and great prices. I will be eating there again real soon!

I've had better

By Kay J |

Everyone is always raving about this place and their pancakes - I DO NOT KNOW WHY!? Ria's is known for their pancakes and they honestly were just average. Average at best. I've had much better pancakes from Egg Harbor (much, much better). They weren't bad, but they were nothing to spread across the city. I consider myself pretty easy to please as long as the food is flavorful and tastes like a dream. However, I get annoyed when things to meet expectation, and these pancakes were so disappointing. They were not the fluffiest I've had. The syrup didn't soak in, and they were overall just "meh!" The place was packed. I expected that. The wait wasn't too bad, but with all of that I just knew I was going to get orgasmic pancakes! Instead I got "don't call me. I'll call you" pancakes! I won't be back! P.S - my friends all thought their food was average as well!

Great breakfast!

By Victali B |

The pancakes here a phenomenal!! Prepare yourself for a sweet treat that is more like dessert than breakfast. Be prepared to wait a while, as we arrived around 10:30 on a Sunday and waited about 2 hours for a table for 4 people.

Long wait but for obvious reasons

By CM |

We went here on a Sat. morning, and the wait time was 45 minutes-hour. We had to wait even longer after we ordered our food, but it was well worth it! You MUST order the potatoes as they are the best I have ever had. They also have a few vegan options on the menu that were delicious. Food was hot and well prepared. Parking may require hunting for a space a block or two away, but again, well worth it.

Great brisket

By Kristie C |

In town for the weekend. Stopped here for breakfast with my mom. Dalton was our server and was awesome. I appreciate when a server is patient and answers questions and kindly doesn't judge when you order three meals for two people so you can try more dishes! Haha. The pancakes with bananas were delicious, but I fell in love with the brisket and eggs, which Dalton recommended. It was about a 15-20 min wait to get in but we were offered coffee while we waited and the food was worth the wait.

The best breakfast in ATL

By Manuela L |

Best pancakes ever!! The food is very tasty and fresh. Loved the place as well, and they are a great team.. Good job guys!! I'm glad I had the chance to come and try "your" breakfast.

Want to try something great!

By MissEMc75 |

I just love Ria's Blubird , the atmosphere, food and the staff is just worth the short wait. We went on Thursday and had to wait in for 10 minutes but let me tell you it was worth it. We will defiantly come back when we visit ATL in July 2016

Wish there was something between average and very good

By maesmom |

I love good wholesome brunch food and Rias definitely delivers. The biscuits are tremendous, the butter and cream are real, and the tastes are just out of the ordinary to be interesting. All the other reviews are spot on though- the wait to get in the door and the wait for food is...long. Parking’s tough but just like every where else in Atlanta. Not a huge fan of their coffee but they do serve you a cup while you wait. And, the servers are attentive, just beholden to the kitchen. Met some nice folks outside and some regulars, so it helped pass the time. Honestly, the whole venue could use a bit of a scrub, so it would have less of a grungy bar feel and more of family home feel. I’d rate it higher if they’d up the cleanliness factor

Great Family Brunch

By Richard T |

Ria's has a vibe all to itself with colorful wait staff (tatooed, wonderful folks) and an eclectic and varied menu. Sitting on the side covered porch is the best. It's one of my go to in town places. Noisy but not too loud to talk. The eggs benedict special was great even if a bit unconventional. The whole family enjoyed.

Valentine's day breakfast

By Lance S |

The wife was searching for vegan and vegetarian options and found Ria's. Amazing food, staff is very friendly. Prices are very reasonable and they have bottomless coffee 😁 There was a bit of wait but not bad at all. About 15 minutes when we arrived about 10:30AM on a Friday.

Great food and service

By Rsavell |

Great chocolate chip pancakes and bacon. I'm not sure the NY Times got it right with the best in the US... Great service. Breakfast with a Mexican flair. Packed house on a Monday at 10:30 am.

Different menu with large servings

By Diane K |

We came for breakfast - arriving 10 minutes early and there were already people there. We ate on the patio which was covered and nice. I had a bowl with a tomato sauce and eggs. It was tasty. Nice place.

Definitely a spot to check out

By Jhony J |

First time dinning here and we made it for brunch, the moment apon arriving there was a line of people waiting outside to be seated, and inside was jam packed there was about a 45 min wait so we decided to to wait to try it out, we were told this was a spot to come to and we did, simple menu not to pricey, big portions, very filling, we tried a few items and it was ok, not saying that anything was bad, we liked everything we tried but I felt it could've been better not to take anything away from it I know its a popular spot and well known, but I just felt like something was missing from a few dishes we had, overall its a good spot just my opinion of it, hope you guys can try it and see for your self.

Great food, very, very long waits.

By S T |

We like this place a lot, but be prepared for very long waits, especially on the weekends. The vibe is fun and chilled out, and they will let you order coffee while you wait for a table. It's across from the Oakland Cemetery, so you can do both, if you are in the area. We've tried multiple things from the Ria menu, but most were specials. Their bananas foster pancakes are delicious, but a very sweet. I would recommend getting them to share with someone else. In anycase, this place is worth a visit, and the wait. Parking can be tight, though there is a fair amount of street parking around.

Beyond Super!

What an amazing place! Everything was perfect - for all 13 of us. Thanks to our servers, the cooks, Steve and Julie for a fantastic diner.

Beware of rude waitress

By Carmita D |

It was so crowded when we arrived that we didn't see the small sign on the hours of operation on the window. We didn't notice other customers had left and were lost in our conversation. The light skinned waitress with red boots yells from the register at me asking if I wanted a to go cup. I was confused and asked if they were getting ready to close. She rudely says we closed an hour ago! Well goodness, she could have just come to our table to explain they were closing. I told her she was being rude and she said well that's your impression but I'm not and walked away! Food was delicious but I wouldn't go back knowing the staff treats customers this way. Also bathroom smells of urine. Like a project elevator.

Sunday Brunch.

By Charlotte P |

Sunday Brunch. We were told it was just a 20 minute wait. We actually waited 50 minutes because Food Network said it was phenomenal. After we were seated it took another 15 minutes to get waited on and another 40 for our food. It was nothing to write home about. Was very disappointed. Basic run of the mill cafe.

Breakfast!!

By Angeladida216 |

Had late breakfast/lunch while visiting family. Great little spot, we sat on the covered patio, had no idea it existed when they walked us over there. Shared picnic table seating, which was cozy. I had huevos, very good tomatillo sauce! Enjoyed the atmosphere, would like to try other menu options everything looked so good at other tables.

We Got To Eat In The Trailor!

By nabenom |

All kidding aside... There's a serious line to get in. That should tell you what you need to know. It's a quirky neighborhood rave where the staff look like Hard Rock used to be's and the speakers blare Emo alternative jams too loud for comfort but not blasting enough to fulfill the full promise of obnoxioustivity. The food, though, is what people come for and the Hard Rock teaches service and goodness so the staff excel. The patio is soft walled and assorted with tables and chairs so the diner can accommodate what would otherwise be an overflowing and by appointment only clientele. The food, man, I keep trying to tell you about, is exceptional. Better than the service, better than the experience of rad fortitude, better than the chain blase on hollandaise biscuit you can get anywhere. GO HERE. Eat here. Come back. It's worth it. Oh, yeah, tip the waitress. Tats cost and artists gotta eat too. If you need my recommendation any plainer: The food is fabulous, has all manner of meatless and substitute fare available, the cook knows what they're doing, the staff is helpful, friendly, kind and quick and the atmosphere is fun.in short, the place ROCKS! Okay?

Favorite Breakfast Place

The caramelized banana pancakes are to die for!!! The restaurant itself it’s artsy & cool. There will be a wait for breakfast & brunch but it’s worth it.
