Favorite ribs on Philly

By Mike l |

This is a small basement of a house. It is dark and not fancy. And I love it. Start with the wings ann's onion rings(I like well done and crispy. The service is great and although the stall and chicken are good, I keep coming back for the ribs. And let's not forget the corn muffins.

Good Food. HORRIBLE service

By Michele Mimi L |

Been here many times. Food is good and plentiful-usually and the service is ok. Went the other day and ordered beef ribs and was given a very small short rack of 4 with no meat. Complained to waitress that all other times, 2 huge ribs with plenty of meat. Didn't care and said this is what the kitchen does. Asked for manager and she said the same thing and didn't apologize or offer additional ribs to make up for the difference. Owner came in and had the nerve to say "Well if I ordered this and it wasn't what I wanted, I would have walked out". Yeah right. We drive 45 min in rush hour traffic and he wants me to leave and go somewhere else, Never again. rather go to a place with good food and GREAT service than a place with great food and HORRIBLE service. Don't care how good the food is.

Best ribs around!

By Susan F |

We've been getting the baby back ribs every New Year's Eve for over 10 years. Travel from Jersey to Philly because they are that good! Fall off the bone tender, excellent sauce. Best ribs around!

you can go home again

Have been coming to the place for many years.I enjoy the baby back ribs.Still tastes as good as the first time I was invited to try the ribs, maybe 10 years ago.Not much to look at, but it's the food brings me back to this spot.Never been disappointed.Comfort food at it's best.

Good amount of food

Huge hamburgers, tasty buffalo wings and pretty decent salmon. Place a bit dark and service was ok. Prices fair enough.

Disappointed

By Joyce H H |

Over an hour drive but enjoy the food. This time ribs were dry and not much meat. The wings were also dry. Spoke to the owner but no satisfaction at all. He wanted me to bring food back.....half was eaten and I wasn't going to drive 2 hours to bring back. I asked for a gift card and he said no. I will never go back. $53 for 2 dinners and we did not enjoy.

Worth the trouble!

Parking is horrible, it's so dark in the place that you can barely see the person your with! But DAMN the food is excellent! The service is great! It's a place you don't want to miss!

Awesome

We normally eat in but this time we took out three orders of the baby back ribs ($67 for 3 racks and extra sauce). There is a charge for extra sauce so just order them extra wet. The ribs were tender and delicious, you will lick your fingers. The corn muffins are perfection. The fries are steak fires, large and great for dipping into the bbq sauce, I did not really enjoy the cole slaw but the baked beans are good and sweet. We usually eat in but we were driving through the area. If you eat in you need to remember it has been there for a very long time, the interior has not been updated in many years and is very dark inside but well worth the food. Not many places have baby back ribs, Rib It closed down and Famous Dave's does not serve baby backs except for the one located outside of Atlantic City. So if yu want finger licking good baby back ribs this is the place for you.

GO TO THE RIB RACK FOR TAKE OUT

By DJMAN5 |

Parking is not the best, you may find a find a spot on Tyson or around the block. The dining room is extremely dark. I ordered take out :a dinner size rack of baby back, includes two small racks- enough for two ( unless you are hungry)- great flavor, not overly sauced, sauce is in a container. Great moist corn bread- good for two, very good coleslaw and (.50 extra) mashed potatoes, Came to $ 20.50 + tax. A nice meal for two average size eaters. The ribs have great flavor, moist and charred just right.15 minute wait,I will call in order next time and order an extra coleslaw along with this tasty meal.

Can't get better meat and ribs anywhere!!

One of the best Sirloin steak, salad/w blue cheese dressing and sweet potato. Coffee and corn muffin. In town.

The best ribs in the Delaware Valley

I've been coming here for almost a decade now and it doesn't get better than this. Do try the rib and chicken combo. The baby back are phenomenal. The sauce is incredible. The chicken is moist and delicious. The baked beans are great and the corn bread is perfection. Love this place.

Great food

The ribs are spectacular. Large portions of tender, delicious meat. The chicken was juicy and plumb. We actually buy addition corn muffins to take out since they are so good. The service is friendly and quick but not pushy. The only criticism would be how dark it is.

Great Ribs.

By KendoTheX |

Excellent ribs, very good chicken, side of beans mediocre, bake potato very good, but neither one of us thought much of the Cole slaw. We would absolutely recommend this restaurant though we'll skip the slaw next time , where we had a good meal and a beer each for about $50.00...

Don't like the location, parking or the atmosphere but OH THE MEAT!!!!

By REDS2U |

14oz SIRLOIN STEAK WITH SWEET POTATO AND CHICKEN SOUP was last nights choice. Chicken soup was very good however I like mine with more veggies and chicken (thought it was a little light on both). It's been 6 mos. since my last visit and the steak (excellent) I had could have been cut from the same piece of sirloin as the last one I ate here. The sweet potato was the family size. Prices up a little again $23.95 but not enough to keep me away........Yet!!!!

Not like it used to be

We have been doing take out from this restaurant since it opened. I'm guessing 25 years. I moved and still drove close to an hour in traffic to get them on occasion. We got food from them today......muffins are now half the size, ribs were not falling off the bone as there wasn't enough meat to fall off. Because they were less meaty they seemed overcooked. Very disappointing. Wings were also average at best. No longer worth the trip. Sad. I'm wondering if it changed hands?

The best

The ribs are the best around. Amazing sauce and meat just falls off the bone. They also have the best wings in town. Worth the trip.

Stay Away

I guess this is what happens when there's no competition in this immediate area for good BBQ or good restaurants in general, for that matter. If there where this place would have been closed many years ago as it should be now.We decided to order take out based on the reviews,my wife had to talk me in to it.I have lived in the neighborhood all my life,I love BBQ and I think I have been here once and now I remember why. We ordered ribs of course,I the beef, she the baby backs. The person that took our order explained that the beef ribs were small but that the meat was a much better quality.Well, lets just say that was a huge understatement, they had literally one bite of meat on each of the 7 ribs,20 bucks,it only covered 1-1/2" of the rib in the center.Complete ripoff, they should not be selling these ribs,I don't care how much warning you give, maybe they only sell these to take out customers, because any one who is sitting in to eat would laugh and immediately send these back.On top of the anorexic amount of meat they were not good, not sure if they are even smoking their meat.Baby backs were normal size but they were very skinny, dried out, lacking meat and flavor as well, baked beans were from a can, coleslaw from a jar, corn muffin dry tasteless, but the onion rings were good, well cold but could have been good. The reviews don't really tell the true story some how, maybe we have just come to except mediocre food in this area, maybe some of the reviewers are connected to the place somehow, maybe these problems are recent issues. In any case there is no way this place should still be open.Next time my wife will listen to me a little better, she must have missed Robert W's 0 star review, and next time we'll be going back to Sweet Lucy's if we want take out BBQ.

Fantastic!

As always, food was excellent, server was friendly, had a party of 9 and we're easily seated. Down side to our visit was we were informed that there was a 2 beer per person limit??? Gotta have beer with wings!! Never had this issue come up before.

Awesome BBQ

By julie930875 |

Everything from RibRack is great! Wings, salads, Ribs, Steaks, Chicken... even their sides like stuffing, coleslaw & fries are delicious. The portions are large, and the entrees include a corn muffin. If you are dining there, it's a little dark in the dining room, but so worth it. Their BBQ sauce is very tasty.

Absolutely the best

By See_it_to_believe_it |

Yes it's kinda dimly lit in the place but when you eat the food you don't even notice it. The ribs, chicken, wings are all really good. I don't get ribs from anywhere else now because I am just disappointed in anywhere else. I think it's the sauce that does it... zesty. Last but not least the corn bread is really good too!

The best wings. Not breaded, just the real thing.Salads are great too.Haven,t been there for a while, but Im going there...

This place has the best BBQ Ribs and Chicken in Philadelphia. The place is cozy and the service is great. Has been father's day dinner for the past 7 years.

Eating in the dark.

By Thomas C |

This place has been a landmark for as long as I can remember, and the food has been consistently good for the last twenty years that I am aware. The baby back ribs are the best around. The only problem is this: The lighting is without exaggeration, the equivalent of a dim night-light in a pitch dark room. The staff has been ordered to NOT touch the lights, no matter how many customers complain. The stubborn arrogance of the owner is mind-boggling to me; but then I keep going back and sitting in the DARK.

I was surprised

By JennO1349 |

My husband suggested we come here for dinner. I passed this place for years on my way to work and never thought of eating here. Shame on me. The ribs were perfect, sweet potato outstanding, teriyaki chicken was delicious. The only odd thing was the lighting. Dark. Wayyyy too dark. I had to get up and go to the entrance to read the menu. Can they not afford electricity?

Rib Rack a great place to eat!

By Sonia M |

Rib Rack is the best place for BBQ ribs and chicken in Philly. The sweet potato, fries, and corn muffins are also great. My family and I have been going there for many years. Try this place, you won't be disappointed!

Dinner

By Patricia W |

Excellent. Ribs fantastic, wings even better. This place is sooo good the sweet potatoes are finger licking good and don't forget the onion rings, but eat them while they are still hot simply the best. Actually my husband hot mashed potatoes last time there and they were scratch, fluffy and delicious, just don't get the gravy because it ruins them (chemical testing gravy). Another tip the salmon juicy and cooked perfectly but get the teriyaki flavor. Finish off your meal with corn bread muffins. Cold beer, what's not to love.

The best ribs

By Patricia W |

Rib rack rules. I'm from philly, so used to good food. This place has it all; salmon, buffalo wings, onion rings, baby back ribs are killer. Sides that come with a meal are corn bread (scratch, and sooo good) and baked sweet potatoe which needs nothing more than a fork to cut into it. Amazing that even the mashed potatoes and stuffing shouldn't be missed. This is comfort food. One negative is that it is very dark in the dining room, lighting leaves a lot to be desired.

It's a rib shack. Don't go for anything else. The ribs are tasty and succulent. It doesn't matter that you can't see the hand in front of your face, or the menu, for the lack of lighting. Just ask for the baby back ribs, small or large.
