I'd been searching for a great steakhouse for our 13th Anniversary to go to and we found that place in Ringside. We decided to go early for the 3 course early dinner deal. It was perfect, I had the surf & turf. It was the perfect amount of food, plus I added the side of mushrooms and they where beyond delicious! My husband had a filet mignon with a baked potato & cesar salad which he said where all amazing too. Sad I forgot about how I wanted to try their famous onion rings... NEXT TIME! We will definitely be back. Maybe even for mothers day.

This was a grand dining experience. Two of the party of four were celebrating birthdays and only one person in our party had attended this restaurant before. It was a delightful evening with everything perfect from start to finish. The appetizers of onion rings and crab cakes were delicious. The onion rings were the very best! The steaks were cooked to perfection. Didn’t find fault with anything, which is rare. The dessert of crème brûlée and citrus sorbet were wonderful and with the gracious service made it an all around memorable dining experience. We will return….and not just for a special occasion.

We were a party of four and this was our last night in Portland, so I booked this restaurant well in advance since I thought it would be the best!! Far from it! It was the worst service I have ever received, and the food was mediocre at best. It was at least ten minutes before the waitress acknowledged us, 10 minutes more before being served a cocktail. That was not a great start, but it became worse. Dinner was served without the pepper corn sauce ordered, and when we asked about it, it arrived after we finished eating. My 6 oz. steak was acknowledged by others at the table that it was awful. Their steaks were better, but a lot of grizzle on the T-bone steak. One person ordered an after dinner drink to go with their dessert, and we had to sit around waiting for it to be served, long after dessert was finished. There were no apologies from the waitress but I apologized profusely to our guests that I booked this restaurant!

I wanted to share an evening with my husband while we were in Portland for a weekend wedding so I made reservations for the Ringside Steakhouse. We had such a good time! Our waiter gave us lots of background and history of the restaurant. My husband asked lots of questions and he was so knowledgeable and attentive. We took his meal suggestions and everything was delicious: filet mignon, mashed potatoes, wedge salad, dinner salad, the onion rings and creme brulee. The atmosphere reminded us of old Hollywood in the movies. It was romantically dark, original furniture and table accents. The big stone fireplace was burning. It was just nice and well done. Since we were travelling, we called in advance about attire and jeans were totally acceptable. It was nice to see that they had matchbooks on the reception podium. I remember seeing those as a kid. We took one as a souvenir. We would recommend this restaurant to anybody staying in Portland.

What a class act place. Steak was beyond perfectly cooked, tender and full of flavor. Crispy skin steelhead cooked perfectly to medium, served with bacon greens. We shared the famous lobster mashed! The server was perfect , extremely efficient and kind. Chef sent out a complementary dessert for our anniversary.

We went with my brother and a couple who they have known for years in SFO. However, the husband is a PDX native and the couple eats at Ringside regularly. Service is everything one could want. We all, except one, had their Monday night "prime" rib specially. Both the salad and baked potato were generous. I had the balsamic dressing which was very good. Unfortunately, they ran out of creme brûlée, but offered us anything on the desert menu. Both my wife and I were full, so selected the dark chocolate toffee which was an excellent choice. Now, I get to the prime rib. The meat was tender and cooked perfectly, but it did not seem to be the prime rib which am use to. My wife made the same comment. Since we did not have their regular prime rib, we can not tell for sure. However, the meat was more dense than I am use to with well-marbled prime rib. For the reason of the prime rib, I was going to give and overall rating of very good, but changed my mind after reading what I wrote. Overall, everything was tasty and well presented. The service also was well paced. Ringside is very expensive. However, the servings are very generous, and by having the special, did not break the bank.

Nice ambient, exceptional service, and great food. You can hardly go wrong with this place. Onion ring is a must have. I usually go with its 3-course Supper Menu with baked onion soup (the best), Surf & Turf (love the Grilled Prawn), and Crème Brûlée.

We went to Happy Hour at the ringside. We were a large group and asked if we could put two tables together and were told in no uncertain terms that we could not. Our waiter was very stern for most of the evening. Our food was delicious but it took a while for the food to come. Enjoyed the atmosphere and Happy Hour offered some great things.

I have Celiac and so have to be very careful about what I eat. At Ringside, a steak house, one would think I'd have no trouble. The waiter was embarrassed to admit to me that all of their sauces, etc. are made from mixes, and he couldn't know the ingredients. We're talking sauces very easily made from scratch. Oh, well. I had a naked steak and naked salad. Dessert would be fine because they had creme brulee. Wrong! It, too, was made from a mix. Yuck is all I can say.

Had an excellent steak, cooked perfectly at the Ringside, we were seated in the Barrel room which had a great atmosphere. The sides were very large ideal for the table to share, and service very attentive and knowledgeable. Great value for money, for a special evening out.

My husband and I had prime rib, with a mixed green salad (delicious citrus dressing), Yorkshire pudding and creme brulee. The best part were the lobster mashed potatoes, rich and creamy- a must have! The staff are warm, friendly and attentive. They seem to be very well trained. We highly recommend this for a special occasion or with out of town visitors.

We have always enjoyed Ringside —- my husband for steak and I for prawns or lobster and, of course, onion rings. The quality is always excellent and the prices fair. What made our last experience even better than usual was our wonderful server. We go out for supper virtually every night and Derek M was as kind and attentive as any server we have ever had —start to finish. It reminded us how much we enjoy going to Ringside.

My wife four friends and I were in Portland prior to going to McMinnville wine tasting. One of the things restaurants we wanted to try was Ringside due to the reviews on Trip Advisor. The restaurant has a very good ambiance with low lighting and darker colors, which makes it feel as though there are fewer people there. We had drinks as we decided what to eat. I selected my steak based on the size on the menu. I thought I was hungry and ordered accordingly. Once I had salad, bread while waiting for the steak, I thought I had made a good choice. When the steak arrived I realized I had made a mistake. Who ever cut the steaks insured the customer would not go away hungry. The steaks ( all of ours) were very large, cooked as requested and very flavorful. None of the six of us was able to eat everything on our plates. Along with our meals we had two very good bottles of Oregon Pinot Noir. I plan on going back to Oregon next year and will return to Ringside. However, I will have skipped lunch!

An incredible dining experience! Terrific ambiance, super-professional wait staff ( Scott is a gem), beautifully staged, and perfectly cooked filets. Every aspect of the dining experience is polished and shiney!

My steak and prawn was very good. Our friend’s onion soup was very tasty. The ambiance was great for romantic dinners; too dark for me though. Our waiter was very nice.

After being patrons for over 15 years, we will not be returning. Our server, Susan, was incredible in all ways, but the rest of our experience was incredibly disappointing. We received our steaks (filet & prime rib) which were both ordered medium. We were asked to cut into our steaks to make sure they were to our liking. We have been here many times over the years and found this very odd. Do they not have confidence anymore in their kitchen? The prime rib was partly medium, but mostly undercooked, while the filet was not even rare. The filet was sent back and returned still undercooked, along with a very dried out baked potato. The person, Christine (I believe) who brought the steak was incredibly rude and abrupt. She asked if the steak was to our liking and we mentioned it was still under. She rudely said something like, "Every house is different" referring to the color and doneness of the steak. She also reiterated it would cook more after it sat more on the tray. We were treated like we knew nothing and were in the wrong. If I'm paying $80 for a steak, I would sure hope the kitchen would know how to cook it. We overheard other diners being asked to cut into their steaks to make sure they were correct, making it seem even more like something was amiss. We mentioned to Susan what happened, and she had somebody else come over and apologize, which was nice, but still frustrating. They did give us free dessert, but our evening was already ruined by being accosted by Christine(?). After more than 15 years frequenting Ringside as a special occasion go-to, we will be looking elsewhere for our premium dining experience.

The restaurant was very crowded as it was a Saturday night. Our service was excellent. Everything we had was very good. Most of our group had steak and they all said they were very good. The salads were large enough to share. I had a pasta dish that was one of the best I have had. The deserts were great.

We (8 of us) dined at 8 pm and the place was pretty busy. We were seated and asked for drinks and water service. There were other groups that were pretty loud but the shape of the room was domed which bounced the noise possibly. Hard to talk and it had to be 80 plus degrees in there. Service was polite but one person in our group needed more time to decide and then the evening drug on for 2 hours... so hot and noisy and my salmon was a bad choice... very overcooked and tasteless. I know it’s a steak house but I am from Midwest and love fish .... my husband had filet and outside was char flavor that was over charred and unpleasant. So ... bummed because the place was promising.

Every time I visit my friend in Portland we make a point to visit Ringside. Because I'm from Nebraska and used to fantastic steaks, it's always a challenge to find a restaurant that stands up to anything we have. Ringside came really close to a couple steak houses in Omaha - it did not beat any of them - but it came really close. Great service and I was very pleased with my filet mignon.

Great steakhouse. The food and the service was amazing. We celebrated a birthday there and we were welcomed and acknowledged as soon as we arrived. Highly recommend this steakhouse.

I've been wanting to try the Ringside for a few years, so I told my wife I'd take her there for an anniversary dinner. We've been to several steakhouses (Ruth Chris, Gaucho, etc.) around Portland, and were coming to the conclusion that good beef doesn't make it over the Rocky Mountains. So we made a reservation, and arrived to an atmosphere of days gone by (ever been to Henry Ford's?). It had that 40's feel, complete with menus posted around the restaurant that have been signed by various celebrities. Dark and rat pack campy, you almost expected to have Sammy Davis wander out of the back room at any moment. We didn't order wine, as we weren't in the mood, but I noticed the wine list had most wines by the glass listed for $11-15, with a fair (not great) selection. We started off with sharing a House Caesar Salad ($9.75), which was about right for the two of us. The dressing was very good, and the salad was topped with a couple whole anchovies... nice touch! The fresh bread was amazing, and they don't skimp on the butter. But we weren't here for bread were we? We had never had "dry aged" beef, so we each ordered a dry aged steak. The steaks include choice of baked potato, garlic mashed, rice pilaf, etc. I ordered the Bone In Rib Eye 20 oz. ($65.50). My wife had the Dry Aged New York 12 oz. ($56.95). We both ordered our steaks medium rare. Both of us were expecting something magical. Unfortunately... My wife's New York was cooked properly, but was tough in spots and had some gristle. I tried it too, and can verify that. My Rib Eye was undercooked (rare), but started out as I had hoped, nearly fork tender. The dry aging added a concentrated beefy flavor that is amazing. Almost as though it had been marinated in Beef Au Jus overnight. But then... about half way through, there it was, waiting to disappoint me once again. Inedible fat and gristle. Pretty much the rest of the steak was equal parts meat, fat and gristle. Both of us encountered parts of our steak that we were unable to eat. Needless to say, that was a huge disappointment. I noticed that the menu states that certain steaks are "Prime", but the dry aged steaks did not say they were prime. So I think that the cuts we had were Choice steaks that were dry aged. You can take a tough piece of meat, and make it more flavorful, but it's still a tough steak in the end. If I ever go back, I would skip the dry aged meats, and stick with prime, like the 14 oz. Prime Rib Eye ($58.50). It has to be better than what we ate. The service (Monique?) was excellent, the ambiance was nice. But the gristle has rendered (no pun intended) yet another Portland steakhouse just average. The total bill came to $140, before tip. For that price, you don't get a second chance. I'll try a few other steakhouses before I come back here.

Ringside has such great promise but hits a wall in food quality, ambience and service. They make a great attempt to be an old school steakhouse with the dark ambience surrounded by candlelight. The problem is that it is way too dark. Many guests are caught using the light on their cell phones to read the menu. The restaurant itself is very worn down and needs a refresh. The bar is like a 1970 bowling alley bar. Next, the menu. It is will written and offers a great variety. The problem is the quality control. We ordered three filets and a New York and all came out overcooked. We sent them back and the re-fire took over 15 minutes making for a few irritated guests. Service was decent with a good attention to detail but with overpriced food that is prepared without the attention to detail and the RingSide Steakhouse is bit of a disaster. For the money, look at other options in the Portland area.

My wife and I went here on a last-minute decision. We heard a lot about in over the years and just never made the effort to try it. I’m glad we finally did. They didn’t have any available reservations for a Friday evening, but luckily we were able to sit in the lounge which still provides a full menu. We arrived right around 5 pm and were able to sit quickly. Had we been about 30 minutes later we likely would have had to wait another hour. It got packed pretty quickly. The table we were at in the lounge was very small and pretty cramped, but it worked out just fine. My wife and I shared a 14 oz ribeye, we also each got the wedge salad as well as lobster mashed potatoes. Everything was really great. The mashed potatoes were probably the best I’ve ever had. They don’t just mix some small pieces of lobster in. They put large chunks on top. Absolutely amazing. Dinner and drinks took about an hour and a half and we made it over to the Blazer game with time to spare. The service was great as well. Our waitress was very attentive, but not overbearing. Valet is also free, which is great.

This is our all time favorite go to for special occasions and for date night. Love their food. It is truly too notch and the drinks are great too! Hand over this is the best place for a night out! Impeccable service by the staff and the Ambience is amazing! Can’t wait to go back!

My husband and I took our son and his lovely wife to dinner on a Wednesday at 5:00. Restaurant filled up fast and was full with a line out the door when we left. We started with the onion rings which I still vote as best anywhere! My hubby and I split a house salad with house dressing which we love: French mixed with Roquefort cheese. We also split a Prime filet and Jack chose garlic mashed and I chose the baked potato. We also had the mushrooms. Our son had the special steak and our daughter in law had a New York, We were all happy with our dinners. Warm bread is tasty too. The Ringside is expensive but well worth it occasionally for a treat!

Great atmosphere, great service, and great food! I was visiting Portland for the weekend and would highly recommend this restaurant for a nice dinner. Started off with the Chef Tasting Board and the Roasted Marrow Bones, both delicious. My main dish was the 12oz choice filet, it was cooked and season to perfection. No dessert. Fantastic selection of beer and wines.

4 of us for dinner last night. Top notch food and service. Love the ambience, music, attentive waiters. Favorite Portland restaurant. Must start with onion rings. Had steak and incredible lobster tail. A bit spendy but totally worth it.

This place NEVER disappoints; I have been going to this place for many years. In fact, every time I'm in Portland, I got to the Ringside. This past time, I had a NewYork Steak that was ~ 2 inches thick cooked to perfection (medium rare). One caution though, do not fill up on the appetizers & salad as you need to save your appetite for the main course. The menu items are a bit pricey but well worth it.

It was pouring rain and traffic was awful so turning into Ringside and having the valet take my car within 1 minute was a good start. I walked in and two of our group were already seated. Mary took my drink order within 3 minutes of sitting down and my drink arrived perfect within two minutes. We started with the seafood platter which was diverse, chilled nicely and served with three excellent sauces. I ordered mushrooms and baked spinach along with the dry aged bone-in New York steak. If you like bold flavors choose some of the side sauces to enhance the steak, they shine. I chose a bottle of Jordan Cab from Alexander Valley and it was an excellent wine at a reasonable price. We all had dessert which were loved by all. Mary is top tier and the full support staff make a strong team. It’s a first class steakhouse.

Great atmosphere & service. French onion soup, lobster mashed potatoes & crème brûlée absolutely delicious! Nice valet parking.

We celebrated my son's 21st birthday at Ringside. Colin, our serve, was magnificent and the food was just as good. I am impressed by the restaurant, no doubt, but I am writing this to sing Colin's praises. He made this a great night that was enjoyed by the whole family. I am a customer in perpetuity.

Our fourth in the wine room, 24 people enjoyed a great meal and fabulous service. The steak and lobster to die for and I always eat too many onion rings. We get really nice thank you notes ever year. Thank you Ringside!

The Ringside never disappoints. Truly an iconic Portland steakhouse with charm, amazing service and the best steaks. We travel from Seattle every year for our annual Ringside pilgrimage. Yes, it’s that good! They are about to remodel the bar and a section of the dining room so may be closed in July for a bit. Highly recommend!

This was the first time my husband and I have been here (actually our first time to Portland!) All I can say is that the food, the staff and the atmosphere is amazing. The manager and the staff worked along side with my husband to surprise me with a decorated table of flowers, champagne and a seafood platter. Also surprised me with a preordered dessert with a beautiful hand written note. My birthdays will never be the same. The lobster mash potatoes are out of this world with the best steak we've ever had. I can say with confidence that this is one of the best and most romantic dinners I've ever had.

Went last night. Birthday for the wife. The booth was the one I had asked for in advance, the bouquet of flowers was perfect as I had requested. On the table as we arrived. Greeters knew she was the birthday girl and made mention of the fact. We had a 15% off birthday coupon The Ringside sends to those that signup. We brought two bottles of wine (there is the standard corkage fee) and the wine steward did a great job with our bottle. The onion rings were stunning as usual. The rib eye and the medallions were perfectly prepared along with the baked potato and generous amounts of trimmings. The house-made peanut butter ice cream was stellar, you must ask for it and cross your fingers they have extra available. It is standard on their lava cake I think. Great ambiance. Quiet enough to have a serious or romantic conversation. Ooo la la. Service is stellar, five stars. Food is stellar as well. Great places for a quality meal, a memorable meal, a special event. Been coming for 50 years and have never had less than a 5-star experience. An institution because of their greatness.

My friend offered to take me to a steak dinner which was a GREAT offer! After doing minimal research on places nearby I selected Ringside not expecting much honestly. Upon entry, it was romantically lit which was funny to me since I was dining here with my guy friend and both of us are happily married, lol! We were seated at a booth and David, our server, introduced himself. GREAT SERVICE!!! The busser comes thru and scrapes the crumbs off the table which I’ve only experienced at the finer restaurants I’ve been too. My friend ordered the aged bone in ribeye and I chose the New York (non-aged). He was touting his steak as the best he has eaten in years! I was saying the same about my New York and gave him a bite. He agreed that my New York steak was THE BEST we have eaten at least this past decade! Lol!! The crab cakes were great too! If you are in Portland and are seeking a great steak, Ringside is your place!!! I would have loved to take my wife here as it could be considered quite romantic as well. Thank you Ringside! Mike

My fried chicken, something Ringside crows about, was way overcooked and dried out. For the second time. No place better for steaks and onion rings, but a two time loser with their chicken. At these prices they really need to address that. The pieces were totally unrecognizable, too.

This place was recommended to me and I will say that I was highly over satisfied! The steak was juicy and the wine was out of this world! I had the sirloin! Yummy! Will definitely come back some day!

Portland in general is weird, yet this city has a few hidden gems. A visit to Ringside for dinner was the best decision on a empty stomach. I’ve tried onion rings everywhere I go, but not quite like these. They can honestly be the best onion rings in the country without a doubt. The batter was excellent, but you can’t make excellent rings without the best onions from Walla Walla. It melts in your mouth good, onion ring halo’s like no other. And the rest of the dinner was superb, along with an amazing selection of local wine. Awesome restaurant with great customer service, what a high quality restaurant should be in my book…

We ordered prime rib and thoroughly enjoyed our meals and attentive service. The restaurant has an Old World feel to it. It was not stuffy so much as buttoned up - wait staff was on point and worked efficiently, together. It made our meal more of an experience - more special than an average evening out. Ringside is your quintessential steakhouse. There is not much more to say - if you enjoy a well prepared steak, and like that steakhouse feel, we highly recommend. For the savvy traveller, they also offer a nice late night happy hour. Who doesn’t like happy hour??

Onion soup was really, really good. The aromas coming from the kitchen were amazing, as long as your not a vegetarian. The lobster mashed potatoes were very good. The crab cakes were full of crab, which should not be surprising, but we have run into a lot of fish filled crab cakes lately and we are happy to report that Ringside has really good, even excellent, crab cakes. The Creme Brûlée was also very good and quite large. My wife and I shared one and we were quite satisfied with it. Prices are a bit high with the Canadian exchange rate but still, I would return!

We enjoyed good drinks at the bar before being seated at a table. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, explained extras that were not on the menu. The food was excellent, the meat superb. All of us absolutely loved it. We had a great time.

Great service, great food, nice atmosphere. Servers were very attentive without being overbearing. Aged steak was Fantastic, signature fried chicken was wonderful.

The service was great but the food quality was disappointing. We go to Ringside regularly and have always loved the food, drinks and ambiance, but the last three visits have left us looking for a new favorite restaurant. The steaks have been tough, the seafood dry and unflavorful, and the desserts look and taste like they came off a conveyor belt. The service has always been great and the drinks have been consistently good. Hoping this isn’t the new norm for our favorite Portland restaurant!

We were looking for a nice steak dinner while in Portland. After searching the internet, it appears Ringside was the go-to spot in tow. We made a reservation and arrived early after seeing that they had a compelling bar menu. We easily got a seat in the bar and the service was very pleasant. We ordered a 12 oz filet, garlic mashed potatoes, onion soup, steak bites, two glasses of champagne, martini, and a cider. Our bill was about $175 with tip. The filet was cooked right, but wasn’t the quality you’d expect for a $60 steak (in Portland). The steak bites are a great idea, but needed the horseradish sauce it came with. Overall, the food was okay. Not worth the money and there are other good places to eat within walking distance. Also, we don’t recommend walking to the restaurant. It’s an easy walk from downtown, but there were a lot of homeless drug addicts that made the walk a bit dangerous.

You won't find any better food, and it comes in a warm, fuzzy atmosphere. This is the snug harbor of all Portland restaurants and a real treat for any visitor. Many regulars, so make your reservation early.

I have been here many times over the years and they still do a great job on the best steaks in town. An old style steak house with a dim interior doesn't appeal to everyone but the food is fantastic. Try the onion rings if you dare.

As a visitor to the US, I was looking for a genuine, American steakhouse experience. I got what i was looking for at Ringside Steakhouse. Superior service throughout the dinner. The right kind of ambience. And amazing food. Excellent cocktails, onion rings like I've never tasted them before and obviously perfectly cooked steaks that melt in your mouth.

We went to Ringside on NE Glisan in the 2000's. It was good, but not exceptional. We finally try the original location on Burnside, and all I can say is I was underwhelmed. Service was good, the sides were excellent, but for $58.50 it tasted closer to a choice cut then a prime cut. The seasoning was bland or nonexistent. The peppercorn sauce and sauteed mushrooms helped.

We went here based on a recommendation from our concierge. Boy, are we glad we did! This place is a gem! We go out to eat A LOT and know good ambiance, service, drinks, and food when we get em. Ringside is all of them including class! It is what you'd think of in an upscale supper club. If we get back to Portland, we will eat here again for sure!

Okay, this place ain’t cheap. But as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. This was no double one of the top three steaks I’ve ever eaten in a restaurant. The cooking and presentation were both superb. Service was at the perfect pace to allow relaxing over a pre-dinner drink. The drinks were excellent by the way. A great place for special occasions.

I'm regular visitor of Portland and always eat one time at Ringside. Great steaks, really quality mest. I especially like "the Porterhouse". Always crème brûlée as dessert!!!

Ringside is the real deal. Old world ambience, dry aged beef, lobster mashed potatoes, and the best onion rings in town. What's not to love. The servers are experienced pros and can help you navigate the extensive wine list. If you want to treat yourself to the best steak in town, go to Ringside. You won't be sorry. You definitely want to make a reservation. Valet parking almost a must.

I have probably dined at Ringside 30times in the last 21 years.Good service, used to have only prime beef on the menu now has choice and prime. We are always seated in the same booth so management pays attention to details. The one negative I would have to list is that they PUSH their lobster mashed potatoes. The menu is already high priced and sides and drinks do jack up the bill. Included is a choice of potato or starch but for $12 they create a very rich (with lots of cream and butter) mashed potato and put in some pieces of lobster. The way they have presented this to my dinner guests makes it sound like it's one of the included choices. Maybe they should say, "would you like the lobster mashed potatoes for an extra $12" and let diner decide.

Over the top! You will enjoy this one. Great Food and Seevice. Very friendly and accommodating. Definitely will return!

The food was meh. Nothing was great, and this used to be our favorite restaurant in Portland. The service was lovely, but we were seated at a table that was too small for our party and that was also disappointing. We scheduled our reservation a few weeks in advance. If they’re going to charge $75 per steak, they’re going to have to up their food quality and offer more comfortable dining. We won’t be back unless things improve.

I'm not a connoisseur of steakhouses, but I've been to five or six of the best, and it's clear that steakhouses, as they should be, are mainly about the steak. Ringside is no exception. A better piece of meat you'll be hard pressed to find, and I've never seen such astonishingly precise timing. But I want to put a plug in for their desserts. We had three at our table, and all three were wonderful, although the ice cream sandwich is beyond sublime. Who'd have thought that the deconstruction of such a pedestrian-sounding thing could be so amazing? There's something tangy in the vanilla ice cream. I'm still trying to figure it out. Don't miss it.

In Portland's decidedly overrated food scene Ringside stands out as a place that does actually deliver. I've eaten there a few times and the food and service have both consistently been excellent every time. These people can cook a steak right; both rare and medium rare are served exactly as they should be. The onion rings were also a surprising treat. The rotating drink menu has never failed to deliver something that was new and interesting. Prices area bit high but it's well-warranted for the value you get. The only knock on the place dining room is cramped, but other than that it's as good a dining experience as you'll find anywhere in the area.

This place was a wonderful choice! The atmosphere was so great; I don't feel like anything has changed for decades. The service was impeccable and the food was wonderful. My husband and I split everything: appetizer, salad, and entree and it was more than enough food. I would definitely be back. In fact we recommended to friends and they went the next night and sent us several "thank yous" for introducing them to the steakhouse.

Although this place apparently gets great reviews and has a high reputation, I’m not impressed. I had the filet mignon and although it wasn’t bad, I’ve had much better elsewhere. Service was fine but again I wasn’t impressed. It wasn’t cheap either. I guess I’d say that although not a bad place, there are better places. I just don’t know where when it comes to Portland OR.

What an awesome meal!!! No nonsense, old school, traditional steakhouse!! Sizzling plates, dark atmosphere, waiters in suits, etc. I had the seafood sampler appetizer and the onion rings(a must). The steaks and garlic mashed potatoes were very tasty as well. This place has been around since 1944 and I would put it up against any top steakhouse I have been to all over the world!!!

Everything was perfect. The waiter was excellent (James) and the food couldn't be better. We have been going there for special occasions for nearly 50 years and it never fails to disappoint. They even are very serious about keeping the water glasses full.

I like onion rings. I mean I REALLY like onion rings and Ringside Steakhouse in Portland offers the best onion rings I have had anywhere. I travel a lot so I get to experience many different restaurant styles and grades. Ringside, for me, still makes a visit to Portland worthwhile. But my raving about their onion rings isn't meant to detract from the fabulous steaks and other selections on the menu. The service from professional waiters is remarkable and the bar has a fun collection of bourbons. Valet parking is available and the lot is big enough for your car to not come back with any new dings. Probably best to call them for reservations but if you get there just before 5 PM you can join the impatient line outside waiting to get in as soon as the door is unlocked. Grab a seat in the bar and enjoy.

The Ringside is an old school steakhouse at its best. Great service, great food. The pork belly appetizer is great. All the steaks are very fine. And the Maine lobster is also extremely good. I've been going to the Ringside on burnside for over 20 years - it's always a great dinner.

This is a wonderful steak house. Prices are high, but food and drinks are delicious. Parking is free valet - they have their own parking lot. This is a real plus around Portland. My husband and I had the strip steak, our friends had the nightly fish special and a filet. Everyone was happy. We enjoyed a complimentary dessert for the table because it was our anniversary dinner. Very nice.

Prime Rib 3-course dinner, Monday only, March , 5 PM reservation. We had reservations for nearly a month & were in a celebrative mood in just being at the Uptown Ringside. Parking was a snap with 2 of the greatest guys as valets! No parking on street as it was not even 5PM when we circled the block. We found it easier to dine after 6 PM when parking spots were more plentiful. We were seated immediately & Mary was our waitress. She is outstanding. It was so good to be back, we have come every time we are in Portland. We ordered the prime-rib, medium rare. I ordered their onion soup that comes in a cooper dish/oversized ladle with a HOT handle & managed to burn my underside of my forearm. My husbands choose the fresh crisp salad with their homemade dressing, enjoying it thoroughly. We had 2 glasses of wine with a basket of the crunchy sourdough bread as we waited for our steaks. Indeed, perfectly quite romantic atmosphere The 10 oz Prime Ribs were delivered to our table in a timely fashion. Mary was always around to check on us. The meat was seasoned beautifully; unfortunately, in our humble opinion our meat was quite chewy, fibrous & just plain tough. When we cut into the bright red meat we had use a sawing motion instead of it falling apart & not like what we would have normally experienced in our passionate hunts for this succulent cut of meat. The menu listed a 12oz cut costing $56.75. We finished off the meal with the Crème Brulee which was indeed a handsome finish. Disappointed & disenchanted with what we thought would be a real treat. Total bill was $95.

Prior to covid's impact upon Portland we looked forward to our visits to the Ringside for special occasions such as Christmas, birthdays, and anniversaries as well as dinner after theater and concerts in the city. Prior to covid the dinners and service were excellent. This evening 8/27/22 we ventured out to the Ringside to celebrate our anniversary. This turned out to be a mistake that we will not repeat in the future. With the exception of the onion rings the food was mediocre . Onion rings were excellent. Caesar sald hardly any flavor-dare you to find the dressing-croutons hard as rock with no flavor. Mushrooms lacked flavor and did not add anything to the steaks. Steaks were average (Filet Mignon Choice & Ribeye Prime.) Lobster mashed potatoes poor at best--Lumpy potatoes, spongy lobster pieces, and very little sauce --overall tasteless. Drinks--Before dinner Baileys cofee and Spanish coffee not blended well as all you could taste was the coffee. After Dinner Spanish coffee better blended yet cream on top was cold all the way down to the coffee. Service, however, was excellent. The Ringside prior to Covid would provide a review card with the bill. This time however, they did not and sad to say we had to take this medium in orde to let them and others know of their decline.

The food was delicious, the service perfect. I can't wait to go back the next time I am in Portland. I also left my wallet at the restaurant and when I went back the next day an employee helped me find my wallet, which had fallen under the table. I tried to give him a 100 as a thank you and he refused. He said. "You are a customer, I can't take that. I am happy we were able to find it." I Look forward to my next meal here.

Had prime rib special. Though in the past we've had some great steak dinners there, but this special was pretty much inedible, super salty, low quality. I had an email response from the "Assistant General Manager" who said he would get back to me, but I never heard from him again. The service at this restaurant is quite good, but not good enough to outweigh this prime rib special and the dinner tab. All in all, a very disappointing experience after patronizing this restaurant for many years in the past.

I’ve eaten at the Ringside many times in the past. The steaks are good, but certainly not the best in Portland. However, the service is always top notch and makes up for any other deficiency. Another item to note is the exceptionally well built wine list. If you are a champagne lover, Ringside might have the best selection and prices are very fair. So why the four star rating? Sometimes on visits we get an exceptional steak. Other times (like this visit) the steak is good, but not great.

There are so many reasons to eat here. They use excellent meat and dry age it themselves. They even make in house bacon. The staff is well trained and super attentive. With the remodel there is a lovely area in back to enjoy your meal. We celebrated our birthdays here, this time. The sourdough bread starter is so tasty. Love sourdough and this has the right tang. Split an iceberg wedge (here is where you get the in house bacon-lots of it) The serving was so large, not sure how one person could eat it and then have a meal. Next up was the entree, 16 oz prime rib. Cooked to perfection--served with au jus and fresh grated horseradish. Again we split it. Added the dungeness crab with bernaise. Took home leftovers. Subbed the lobster mash for regular potatoes. What a great choice. Big chunks of lobster on top and a great sauce. Creme brulee for dessert-smooth and creamy. Very nice. Corkage fee is reasonable, we brought our own bottle of wine. So worth eating here.

This place is great. I do feel Portland has some of the best food in the country and of all the places I have been which makes me always the more critical to restaurants here. This place was crowded and packed which was kind of fun. I would highly say to get a reservation. The Filet with Crab on top was delicious.

Very good. The onion rings were great. My husband had the fried chicken, which he liked alot. I had the 6 oz. Fillet, with a baked potatoe. Our friends had the Monday night special, which was prime rib. We were all happy with our meal. Our waiter was great. She was friendly and professional.

No better place in Portland for a great steak and glass of wine. My client had to cancel on me so I had to "suffer" with a great filet and a wonderful discussion with the bartender! Love it!

OK, so, there are a few good steak houses in Portland. Morton's Steak House for one, and perhaps something like Ruth Chris. But here's the deal, those places make you order a la carte, which means you are paying a premium for cheap side dishes. I have a fundamental issue with paying ≈$50 for a steak and then getting dinged 12 bucks for some green bean or asparagus. I'd go to Jake's Grill before the other two mentioned just for this reason... they have a decent steak and you don't pay extra for sides. The Ringside is a classic old school steak house - dark with lots of rooms and spaces; menus line the walls signed by celebs. All their steaks are dry aged on premise, their more premium steaks are subjected to extended drying. The service is impeccable. If you go as a couple, each ordering a side, entree, and dessert, you should plan on paying upwards of $200. We usually share a side and dessert, so its typically $150'ish (she usually orders one drink). Obviously if you order wine or extra drinks, your tab will climb quickly. Quality comes at a price when it comes to steaks and you get what you pay for at the Ringside. Look into their early bird special if you are on a tighter budget, its a fair deal.| . if I was going to criticize anything, it would be their onion rings. i know, i know "have you read the reviews Brad"? I mean, they are good, but I don't think they are "all that". I'd call them tempura onion rings, and I think thats what I don't like, the batter.

Fantastic evening - they have got it all down. The reservation was right on time, the drinks were well poured, the wait staff attentive, the steaks were beyond belief - as good as anything in Seattle,Portland, San Francisco. The sides were delicious - including onion rings, of course, . One dish was a little later than the others. The wait staff went into overdrive - brought out a complimentary large prawn appetizer, complimentary glasses of wine with appropriate apologies. Meal was, at most , 8-10 minutes behind. When the bill came, that meal was comped, as well! This placed was packed but we stayed for desserts and dessert wines and NEVER felt rushed. This was a great dining experience we will remember for quite some time!

We celebrated a couple of birthdays at Ringside and crazy to say, I've lived in or near Portland for 30 years and had never been! I know... Shameful! I made reservations via Ooen Table and we arrived a few minutes early. After a brief wait, we were seated by the super friendly Host/Hostess staff at out exact scheduled time. Our Waiter, who's name unfortunately slipped we, was awesome. He was rather formal and explained the menu very well. While many steakhouses offer all menu items ala carte, many of the menu offerings included a side dish. He was quick to point out that they were happy to substitute an alternate side if we wished, which I thought was nice. We began with a large basket of onion rings and I'm without words to describe how amazing they were! They were large with a light breading and perfectly salted. And when you took a bite, they remained intact, as opposed to the entire onion separating from the breading. Even though they're obviously deep fried, they were light as air. I would return just for those alone!!! We also enjoyed a jumbo shrimp cocktail and an heirloom tomato salad which was so uniquely presented and enough for the 3 of us to share. Probably one of the best caprese salads I've ever had. I ordered the dual lobster tails which included mashed potatoes which were garlic Heaven. And the lobster was cooked perfectly! The other two in our party had steak and baked potato, for which all of the toppings were placed in the center of the table for maximum customization. The meal ended with complimentary Birthday dessert. Overall, I loved the entire experience! Great old world steakhouse (dimly lit with red chairs) vibe and impeccable service! Bartender made a great martini too! It's in a pretty high price point but totally worth the spend.

The before dinner cocktails arrived after the appetizers were served; our bread plates were removed from the table before the bread was served; service was overall slow, inconsistent and inattentive. The food was good, but for the prices the Ringside charges, I expect a near perfect meal and this was far from it. Disappointing.

Good food and excellent service! I ordered the wedge salad with the two tenderloin medallions and requested vegetables as opposed to the carbs. The famous onion rings are a must try. If you’re looking for a nice steakhouse in Portland this is the place! I had no too for dessert!

This was our very first time at Ringside. ALL the food is incredible, and our steaks were perfectly prepared! The service was flawless, and our excellent server was Jessica. You have to try the onion rings, followed by the Creme Brulee' for dessert!!! WOW. $$$$$

This place was phenomenal. I really liked the service. Jessie really cratered to our needs and made my experience awesome.

Anniversary dinner was the best meal we've had in a very long time....from the ambiance to the service to the amazing food....top notch service from classic steak house with professional servers, ours was Scott and he is the best....The onion rings are fantatic as is the dry aged bone in ribeye steak, melts in your mouth....great Caear salad and ending with Cream Brulee.....hope we get the chance to eat there again in the near future

First, the highs: - Everyone we interacted with was pleasant and our server was excellent. She was attentive, but not overly so, and we never felt rushed. - We had 'outdoor' seating, better than it sounds since it was fully tented (enclosed) with active heating (not propane heaters), comfortable chairs, white tablecloth, and reasonable ambiance. 'Outdoor' seating seemed to us to be the safer option since there was more space between tables compared to the indoor seating. - We started with the onion rings which were hot and crispy and served with 2 dips. I would have preferred some seasoning, though, since I prefer not to dip my rings and they were a little bland without dip. - Our entrees were served piping hot and the portion sizes were just right. Now the lows: - The restrooms are unisex (sorry, gents - we love you, but don't want to share a bathroom with you if we don't have to). - We were asked to scan a QR code and view the menu on our phones. This is becoming more popular, but it's a pet peeve of mine because 1) I want to see all my options at once and don't want to have to endlessly scroll and squint at a tiny screen to see what's available, and 2) A nice dinner out is one of the few times my companion and I choose to be device-free. Luckily, they will still provide traditional menus if you ask. - The indoor seating area seemed like an example of how NOT to do indoor dining in the Covid-19 era. I didn't look like Ringside had added any space between tables and the restaurant was fully booked. There were at least two tables with large parties of 6-8, and of course, none of the patrons were wearing masks. - The braised greens (ordered as a side) were tough. They were served as whole leaves (not cut up) and they were almost impossible to cut, even with a sharp knife! - Last, but certainly not least, my steak was overcooked. To be fair, the server asked us to check to see if they were cooked to our satisfaction, but the lighting was so dim, we thought they were ok when they weren't.

My experience at Ringside was absolutely exceptional. My first time here I came with my family for a celebration and since then we've been back for birthdays, reunions and business dinners. The food each and every time has been fantastic, my favorites are definitely the onion rings and any seafood on the menu. The service was great and very personal.

Entire staff 110%. Valet, hostesses, server, etc. Food very good. I loved my steak. I feel the rice, potatoes and onion rings need more seasoning. Amazing Caesar salad. Over the top. My friend pre ordered a vegetarian risotto when our reservation was made. Oops, was not done for her. So they made her a pasta. She didn't like it. It looked unimpressive. Then they brought her mac and cheese. It was kind of runny and maybe a 7 out of a 10. Regardless. She loved the apple crisp. Great wine list. Impeccable service and steak. Love the decor too. Thank you so much.

Went there for a birthday dinner. The is a Portland icon, not my first visit. The steaks are always excellent! 2 of us ordered the dry-aged ribeye and 1 ordered porterhouse. Both excellent. Service was excellent! Must have reservations.

One of Portland's best steakhouses. Reservations advised and look at the menu before you go. Impeccable service from knowledgeable servers. This review pertains to the location on Burnside, I haven't been to the other one.

I went with high expectations of a superb meal. I knew going in the menu was pricey but this place is listed among the great steak houses of America. I was really disappointed. The table next to mine sent her steak back because it was tough. The restaurant replaced it with another, very tender one. This customer was very happy after that. I order a 12oz dry aged steak and ... it was tough. Considering the price I paid for this steak, that was a disappointment. It was not inedible, just not worth what I paid, certain not up to my expectations of a fine piece of aged beef from one of the "best steak houses in America". My French Onion soup was really excellent. The salmon my partner had was also delicious. But the steak did not live up to the hype or the price tag. I could have complained and sent it back but, frankly, it seems to me that if two steaks in a row came out tough, there are quality control problems in the kitchen. Again, it was not inedible, just not tender. I could have gotten that same steak at Sizzler for 1/3 the price I paid. Room was a little noisy at times but not terrible. The waitress forgot the coffee that was part of my dessert order and brought me the check without it about the time I was going to ask again. A resturant rated this highly should not have made the mistakes that were made here. It was a decent meal but not a great or amazing one. I will not be back and could not in good conscience recommend this to anyone as a fine dining experience.

We have heard about Ringside for years and decided to give it a try! While the wait staff is superb and the selection is plentiful, our meal was a solid "good". We shared two different steak meals. The filet mignon $58 ? and the March dinner special for $33. We also shared a small order of onion rings ( which was too much for two)! They were great! So it all boils down to would we drive an hour to dine there again - we both agreed we would eat there again if we were already in the Portland area, but the steaks while good, were a bit overrated in our opinion.

We were looking for a good place to have dinner and my husband recalled this place from when he did business in Portland a number of years ago. It was similar to those many years back, but had been well maintained. We started our dinner with a cocktail and the seared scallops for our appetizer. They were delicious. For our main course, we each had the baked French Onion Soup-dark and rich in flavor- and served in copper ‘measuring cups’. For our main course, we both went for the prime rib, medium rare, with the special: lobster mashed potatoes. Oh! Everything was so good, but those lobster mashed potatoes stole the show!! They were amazing! We ate very well, enjoying a couple of glasses of wine with dinner. (We love our wine, but felt the bottles were a bit too marked up to order one!). We would definitely dine here again and imagine we would enjoy it just as much. Do make reservations - especially on the weekend; they were booked with reservations until 9:30 PM!

Excellent steakhouse with great appetizers, including fresh oysters. Meats are lovely and flavorful. Very good service. Great for customer dinners leveraging the private rooms

excellent steaks service and a fine bottle of wine we had a wonderful evening really relaxed and exceptional service also the waiter was very knowledgable about the wine selection

We went here for a late night happy hour with great expectations, having heard from first hand sources that this was the best happy hour on the west side, and possibly the whole city, after a holiday cirque de soliiel event at the Rose Garden. We were sadly disappointed as there were no drinks available at happy hour prices, their renown onion rings were not discounted for happy hour, and two of their noteworthy happy hour specialties, steak bites and a prime rib sandwich with au juice did not live up to expectations. The onion rings were very impressively large but a bit on the greasy side for me and my wife and did not live up to their reputation as the best onion rings in Portland but are certainly among the best. The steak bites were on the overcooked/dry side, but came with a good dipping sauce. The prime rib sandwich was also overcooked and well done and dry and sadly needing the au juice. The best item we had was the Brussels sprouts which were cooked appropriately and very nicely seasoned but a bit on the oily side. One serving was certainly sufficient for both of us due to it being so oily. We actually left two of the onion rings uneaten which pretty well sums up the happy hour. I would recommend Brix for a better happy hour on the west side and they have excellent drinks at happy hour prices as well as excellent food also. The drinks at Ringside were excellent but speedy at $10 to $15 per drink and wine was expensive also! Save the Ringside for a special occasion and have your steak or prime rib cooked to order. We both like our meat medium rare which made the steak bites and prime rib sandwich too overcooked for both of us!

One of the best steak dinners I ever enjoyed was an end of a prime rib recommended by a best friend. I shared my cigar smoke with her afterward in the lounge. She's weird that way, which is why I like her.

I rarely give 5 stars on anything but this establishment deserves it. I went there with a friend, to celebrate my birthday at the end of January. From the ease of valet parking to the friendliness of all the staff, we immediately felt welcomed. We ordered Big..it was a celebration. Steak, lobster, onion rings (A Must!) crab cocktail, baked..pretty much everything needed for a birthday bash and everything was cooked to perfection. My first bite of lobster was pure heaven. The food is amazing. The decor, dark / rich wood and again, the staff could not have been more welcoming. I did get my birthday desert along with a candle in it..and that made it all complete. Obviously, I loved everything about it and will go back soon.

The fact that this place doesn’t have 5 stars is baffling to me! The staff was one of the most amazing, attentive, and personable people I have ever met. Extremely knowledgeable on cuts and great recommendations. Get the onion rings for sure! They are truly the best, as well as the old fashions! I wish we weren’t moving because I would drive the 4 hours to dinner to come back. The taste of the steak lone was enough for me to rethink moving!

Went there for our son's birthday and 4 three people, left there with a bill of $325 (including tip). That included 3 drinks and three glasses of wine. Not for the faint of heart. Valet parking is a nice feature. A bit brighter since the remodel, you can now actually see the menus. Held our table for us since we were delayed due to traffic - nice touch. The food is excellent. Good onion rings that were not greasy and the breading stayed on the onion. Steaks cooked just the way we ordered them. Nice that you can have cottage cheese instead of a potato side. Creme broulee for the birthday guy gratis. Service is either slow or just right depending on your point of view. We ordered drinks and onion rings and they did not take our entree order until we had eaten most of the onion rings. Had to ask for coffee twice. So if you are looking not to be rushed, this is the place. White table cloths add to the ambiance as does the wait staff in tuxedos. All in all a fine dining experience, just very expensive. You do get what you pay for though.

It’s hard to compare other steakhouses to ringside! The quality is in every detail and they provide an unforgettable dinning experience- highly recommend the pea soup as a starter.

My girlfriend and I decided to try this restaurant on the recommendation of our hotel. I am sure glad we did! I had the 12oz filet mignon, cooked to perfection. Sean our waiter was on top of his game the drinks never ran dry, we asked his opinion on the onion rings and a few other items on the menu, he gave us honest opinions of each not what was most expensive. We felt like he had our best in mind. The mashed potatoes were fantastic! Not your typical instant potatoes you get at many low end steak houses. Prices varied you could spend a ton or be reasonable, we chose somewhere in the middle and couldn’t have been happier with what we got for the price! The bar tender was great! Drinks tasted perfect! Thank you guys! We will be sure to visit in the future!

This is an old school steakhouse with fantastic food! It's conveniently located on Burnside just west of downtown but still within walking distance. They serve large portions and their steaks are aged well! Great food!

We don't get to Portland often enough, so we like to splurge a little bit when we do. Ringside didn't disappoint. The staff was very attentive, and friendly to talk to, and of course the high end cuts of steak are aged to perfection. We both had the New York strip (without bone) and peppered, which had the right amount of pepper corn--not coated all the way around so it's hard to eat without a gallon of water. They had a special mashed potato side that featured a pureed lobster as well as good sized pieces of lobster. It was like a combination of mashed potatoes and lobster bisque--it was to die for. We started with a prawn cocktail that was perfectly prepared. I'd say it compares well to a Morton's, and has the feel of a New York steakhouse complete with Rat Pack era music. We'll be back I'm sure.

Moved from Scottsdale AZ - have to say although the waiter was nice and not his fault the actual food was not worth $315 - the porterhouse appeared to be about 14 ounces not 20, alitllle tough and dry, served on a very small platter like Sizzler with thimble sized condiments. Will not be back, going back to our old Morton’s Steakhouse. Evidently Portlanders are impressed with the old name but it’s not the deal.

I've made - and am doing - what I call the My Ultimate Steakhouse Experience Challenge. My goal is to eventually visit all recommended steakhouses listed in Delta Airlines' Sky magazine. My first experience is at Ringside Steakhouse in Portland, OR. The ambiance is romantically sophisticated. My waitress Mary W. was very pleasant and, answered all my questions about the menu, and patiently waited until I made up my mind. I ordered her suggestion: 1 fillet (with a lobster sauce, I believe) and cottage cheese. The filet was outstanding. When I expressed dislike for the cheese, she replaced it French Fries, no questions ask or hassles. The French Fries were outstanding too. For desert, I ordered the ice cream bar, made of Madagascan vanilla bean ice cream. Another outstand wonder. The meal was pricey, but I feel that it was worth the splurge.

Tuesday evening reservations were easily made on-line through “open table” with specific requests honored several weeks ahead of time. Living in Portland & now in Central Oregon, we have been coming here since the 60’s & it never disappoints, this time it’s our wedding anniversary. Our booth was waiting as our waiter, Colon, greeted us & took our orders in an un-rushed & hospitable fashion. He didn’t mis-step once. We started off by ordering “wine by the glass” a Cabernet Sauvignon, Nelms Road/Columbia Valley & another Cabernet, Rodney Strong, California, both very good @ $14.00 each. We enjoyed the romantic ambience as we enjoyed our first glass of wine & indulged in their famous onion rings which Colin made sure were delivered in an expedited manner. By the way, they arrived with Ringside’s special dipping sauces($11.75)which are good enough for a meal on their own. Soon afterwards, Colin brought our entrees, the 14oz Choice Top Sirloin ($44.25) & an 8oz Choice Filet Mignon ($51.50) including huge baked potatoes with all the trimmings. Our steaks were perfectly cooked medium rare & the potatoes were delicious. Colin was attentive to our needs throughout our dinner & we are grateful for his being with us that evening to make our experience something special. Next time we’ll return & make sure to leave some room so that we can enjoy their Sticky Toffee Pudding or Crème Brulee.

Based on a recommendation from a good friend, we stopped in at Ringside for dinner on a Tuesday evening around 7PM. They were very busy, nothing available in the dining room for an hour so we opted for a table in the bar. Very cozy, seated right away & service was there immediately. Hot bread, delicious! I had the French Onion Soup & the Mixed Greens salad - both were wonderful & tasty. My husband opted for the 6 oz filet that he also enjoyed. Cooked to perfection & except for a little gristle/fat, he ate almost every bite. This is a very busy restaurant so I would highly recommend making reservations if you can.

This is a white tablecloth, dark wood and mood lighting kind of place, established in 1944. As I walked up shortly before 5, there was a lineup waiting to get in - on a Monday. As a woman who travels and dines alone regularly, I can tell you from experience there are two kinds of nice places - the ones who try to seat you at the bar, or pretend they’re all booked up when you can plainly see the place is mostly empty, and then once they deign to seat you, promptly ignore you the rest of the night in favour of larger tables that will presumably generate bigger tips; and the ones who view every patron as valuable and go out of their way to make you feel special. Ringside is firmly in the latter camp. I soon found out why they are so busy on Mondays: they offer a three course prime rib special for $37. It would be a bargain at twice the price. Large mixed greens salad to start, refreshingly dressed; a gigantic portion of prime rib that was supposed to be 10 ounces but looked more like 14+, accompanied by a massive crispy Yorkshire pudding and a mound of eye-wateringly freshly grated horseradish and ample au jus; followed by a classic vanilla creme brûlée and coffee. All of it perfectly cooked and seasoned. My server Trey was a professional, not a university student; he came over often to see how I was doing, without being creepy or intrusive. That in itself is an art. He was so nice I made a point of speaking to the manager on my way out. I never do that. Highly recommend!

Love the atmosphere. Had a delicious prime rib dinner and excellent crab cocktail. Great service....friendly and professional. Will definitely return!

Our party consisted of one tired person who had driven from McCall, Idaho that day, one person that travel by train from Seattle that day and a longtime native of the Portland region. We were all tired from a long day of travel and work. Ringside Steakhouse was the perfect place to finalize our plans. The valet parking is at no charge and you tip accordingly. Reservations are a must at this very popular restaurant. If you arrive early plan to visit the Elephant Gift store and Deli just across the parking lot. High quality food and gift items are featured. We all raved about the meal presented to us by formally dressed waitstaff, delivering the epitome of fine dining service. We were encouraged to try the onion rings but I could have passed, as good as they were. It was the cut of prime rib that captivated me. Fork tender and seasoned to perfection. We shared saute' spinach and I had a baked potato. Reaching for just anything I could possibly improve on it would be the bacon bits. These were crunchy and took away from the perfectly baked large potato. For dessert we shared a creme brulle' and some kind of torte that was crunchy and served with raspberry glace' Expect a nice bottle of wine to range up to $300.00 a bottle. Our Cabernet Sauv was butter smooth to the pallet and the perfect selection for our entrees. Yes this dining experience is pricy. Every once in a while you need to be good to yourself and enjoy life. The Ringside Steakhouse is a must.

What can I say, this place has always been the Best and I must say that the service by Mary was up to the standard we have always expected. We were a large party having dinner and most of us got great food, service and drinks as we have always gotten (the onion rings seemed to not be up to what I remember, but I will cut them some slack on my memory not being what it use to be). Where my biggest problem is that two of our party got sick later that night and we were the only one's to have the special. When I called the next day to talk to the manager about it , I get a call back from the cook who prepared the special (and of course there was no problem with it) But that is not who I asked to have call me back, if the manager is avoiding talking to a customer who got sick the night before, what does that say about my repeating business there in the future. So sad to be treated in this manner, I use to think of this place as the best in Portland. Not so much anymore

Hooray for the partial re-opening of restaurants after a year of COVID related lockdowns. My wife and I had one of our first sit down restaurant meals of 2021 at the wonderful Ringside Restaurant in Portland. By our governor's executive orders, the restaurant was limited to 50% capacity and we felt safe and comfortable the entire time. This is perhaps the oldest steak house in the city: you pretty much know what is going to be on the menu and you know that you are going to enjoy it. We passed on ordering the fragrant deep fried onion rings and started with a perfect Caesar salad made with large whole leaves of Romain lettuce topped with irregularly shaped croutons and garlicky dressing. We found our calorie and fat loaded carbs in the lobster mashed potatoes that can be ordered as a side dish for two. Instead, I advise that you upgrade the starch that comes with your steak so you can enjoy the large pieces of claw meat and sauce that adorn you potatoes. This is Maine lobster bisque from meets Idaho spuds: a perfect marriage. People in the know order a bone-in prime aged steak. Cooked medium rare, please. You can split one 20oz steak for two people and not worry about leaving hungry. Veggies are ala cart as in most steak houses, our sauteed spinach was great. Enjoy the warm ambience, subdued lighting, soft jazz, and expert service here. It is expense but worthwhile.

We went to Ringside based on the various TripAdvisor reviews. It's been in business for a long time (a number of the staff have been with them for 20+ years). It's a very classic place - dark wood, low lighting, etc. The food was good, although when we asked if various cuts were prime we were told they were Angus beef (which isn't necessarily prime). Service was good, but it was clear that regulars got lots of attention. Prices were fair. Not likely to rush back.

It’s a very unassuming building but inside it’s a great traditional steakhouse. Great steaks, good service and the onion rings may be the best I’ve ever had.

Ben awhile since nice out last visit but it still the best steakhouse we visit. Valet parking is a excellent, front desk sets a great first impression, bar has always been a solid choice and you can’t beat the service. And the kitchen knows their way around protein. We happened to hit a deal on prime rib dinner- something that I generally don’t much like but decided to give theirs a try. Price was certainly right- 32.00 for three plates- a really good salad, prime rib with starch- I highly recommend the garlic mashed potatoes and dessert. Great deal and the meat was great. But I haven’t had anything at this place that wasn’t great. The onion rings are outstanding. Bar also does a stellar job and I have heard that happy hours is a real deal. You will need to make a reservation- this is a busy place.

This is some of the best food I’ve ever had. It’s definitely a place that you would go for a special occasion, but once you’re there go all out! My work department started with splitting oysters and the crab cakes. Both were delectable. Many people at our table typically did not like oysters and all raves about them! The crab cakes were absolutely amazing! The veggies that they were on top of matched perfectly! For dinner I had the filet and garlic potatoes and it just melted on my mouth! To end the meal creme brûlée, which was the absolute best I’ve ever had! Our waiter Colin was absolutely fantastic! We’d ask a question about the food and he had detailed questions that left me feeling like I had a full education on types of meat! It was amazing and truly helped make the decision easier!

Oh! What a shame. We have been to ringside many times and always had a faultless experience. We have been looking forward to tonight for months, and really have avoided restaurants through the pandemic, so this really was supposed to be a big treat. We ordered the 34oz Ribeye for Two, Med Rare. It came out Rare - Blue. I love my steak rare, and I tried to force this down, but I couldn’t. As they slice up the ribeye before serving, it couldn’t go back on the grill. So unfortunately 1/3 of the steak we couldn’t eat as it was literally blue, cold in the mouth. What a shame. I told the person clearing our plates the steak was under and we couldn’t eat it, he said he would tell our server. She didn’t say anything. On top of that, we waited an inexplicably long time, we asked for our salad to come with our steak but it came before. My fries also were disappointing and tasted strongly of bad oil that needed to be changed. We actually got a pizza slice on our way home as we were still hungry. Our salad and lobster tail were faultless, but for a $300 meal this was an unacceptable experience, and ruined our celebration. It seems standards have severely slipped, I only we wish we knew this before departing with a few hundred bucks.

Ringside has a fabulous wine list, including half bottles. They also have excellent staff and a wonderful wine sommelier. I sat in the lounge area and enjoyed a beet salad. While I looked forward to the prime rib, it was super dry. The staff graciously replaced it with a petite filet. The filet was very good. This is your typical old school steakhouse with excellent service.

The prime rib was fantastic! Not too lean with plenty of taste. Horseradish was the real thing! The servers and service was second to none!

I asked a local what was close and had a nice steak. This was recommended and they hit a home run. The steak was cooked perfect med rare and the wine list was the same perfect. They even threw in a free berries and cream cuz I complemented the way the cooked the steak. Was surprised, but glad they we that nice!

OUTSTANDING food, atmosphere, and service. Karen Gudgel, our server, was knowledgable, attentive, charming, and on top of every nuance of our dinner. She was a rare delight and made our Birthday celebration perfectly lovely. She has great taste and knows the menu selections, thus able to guide us to our choices. We had the onion rings, the Ceasar salad (wow!!), the aged fillet mignon with lobster mashed potatoes!!!! and creme brulee for a spectacular finish! The fire and soft lighting was cozy and the Christmas decorations were beautiful. Great craft cocktail choices, too. The wait staff was amazing, attentive and at the ready without being obtrusive. Wonderful, wonderful evening!!

Our group of 6 had the table in front of the fireplace. One couple split a dinner which is not a bad idea if there is a concern about portion size. Steaks are large; potatoes are large! Of course we had the onion rings and they were perfect. Everyone's dinner was wonderful and presented to us by a very competent, very experienced server. We took our own wine however everyone should at least look at their extensive wine list. It is amazing! An evening to remember for sure! Reservations are a must.

We have visited 3 times recently. I remember going here as a kid and bring impressed. Something has changed. We did get a corner table which is nice. But the service wasn't the best. He "forgot" my partner's side dish. And he told us it wasn't worth waiting for because they were so busy. I think details are important. At that point we just wanted to eat and get out. Maybe it was an off night. But it was her birthday.

I had heard a lot about this fine old restaurant and I was looking forward to our visit. Started off great with top-notch onion rings but from there on out pretty average. An ordered medium rare fillet came out medium and I was surprised how thin this expensive cut was. The prime rib was average at best. The Ringside is nothing to write home about!

Ok so this is a Portland institution. Reservations were made for my birthday. Service was impeccable . Food was just ok. Of course the meat is perfectly cooked and served on a warm plate to keep it hot. That is what they make perfectly. I ordered a green salad with my dinner and my husband a Caesar salad. Holy cow. Left the worst taste in my mouth that I wanted to be ill. I think it was so organic it was never washed. Tasted like dirt. His salad was a head of romaine with the end cut off. Anchovy across it and cheese slices and croutons around it. Was also not good. Blue cheese dressing that is “their” take on it is thousand island with blue cheese crumbles. Never order it unless you love mayo. Not even palatable. Their famous potatoes were good but contained too much whipping cream. Wouldn’t keep a shape so to speak. The lobster mashed should be served as a soup. And ok... Desert. I’m a professional baker and I love desert. Creme brûlée had a lovely crust, but the actual custard was tasteless and lumpy. Not impressed at all. For $250 I’d expect everything to be beyond amazing. Bottom line - save your money. Portland has tons of unique restaurants to choose from that are less expensive. You’re paying for the name when you go here.

the place to go for a special occasion and celebrate great happenings. the onion rings are out of this world

Excellent steakhouse to experience if you are in Portland! The atmosphere is fantastic and the food and service are top-notch. Our daughter surprised us with reservations for our Anniversary and she couldn't have chosen a better place. The wine selection is superb and the menu was fantastic. Will definitely go back on our next visit.

Met with friends for dinner, including 8 year old. The food was delicious, and they made everyone including the child feel welcome and appreciated. Atmosphere is old school steak house. Excellent wine list also. Everyone left fulfilled after the wonderful meals.

Great cozy restaurant! Loved the atmosphere for the lower sound level so that we could visit and hear our talks with friends. Good wine selection. Steak was good, but not cooked to my request, but didn’t want to take the time to send it back. I had the Filet which was delicious, but too much for me…wish they’d off er a smaller size. Onion rings were touted as the best in the area so we had to try them…they were very good but too thick for our liking. We really prefer very thin ones… but the sauce served with them was excellent. Overall, we were very pleased with food and service.

My recent visit to Ringside Steakhouse was a pure delight. The historic ambiance, exceptional service from our waitress in black tie, and outstanding seafood appetizers set the stage for a memorable evening. The steaks were perfection, desserts sinful, and the wine list impressive. Ringside is a must for those seeking a classic and exquisite dining experience.

The Ringside Old Fashioned was a generous pour and tasted good, a good accompaniment to steak and would recommend over wine personally. The current menu is good, sides are attractive. You are not going here to save money so I would suggest getting the best cuts of steak as the cost difference is not large. Dry aged, with some lobster, also can strongly recommend Chef's board (absolutely excellent charcuterie, foie gras was fantastic and the smaller items were all good). I got both lobster mashed potatoes and half a lobster tail, and I really enjoyed dipping both steak and lobster in the lobster mashed. Disagree with what other people have said about the mashed potatoes being too thin because they were perfect for dipping which is a flavor explosion. I like ribeye, ordered medium rare (bone-in dry-aged) a little concerned it might be overcooked (it wasn't coming cheap). It was not overcooked nor was it undercooked, just right, which reflects the kind of skill in the kitchen I would expect. Go on an empty stomach. Dave was my waiter and he was effective and met all expectations, and the table was good (I like the booths here).

This was a birthday dinner for me. I went with my significant other and we had a great time. The service was exceptional as was the dinner and decor . Valet parking was a plus and they also gave excellent service.

This is a great classic steakhouse complete with great service, a great wine list and a stellar fireplace, not to mention outstanding steaks and prime rib. The French onion soup was very good and I ordered the prime rib which was served to the correct temperature as very lean. Highly recommend for power business dinners or a nice romantic date night. Well done!

We arrived promptly at our reservation time and were told by valet that their parking lot was full, but we could park in the Goodwill lot across the street when they closed in 15 minutes. Or they said we could park in the Elephant Deli lot, which we couldn’t find. This got us off to a bad start. The cocktails and wine were good, and so were their famous onion rings. But the steaks were not worth the exorbitant price we paid. The service by Jordan was good, but slow. In his defense, he was having to be both a bartender and a waiter. The ambiance was nice. But next time we would probably go somewhere else. Oh, and we were given a creme brulee because we had had a bad time with the parking, even though my husband was supposed to get creme brulee with his prime rib meal anyway!

Simply the best bone in rib eye i have ever had. the cut was aged and cooked to perfection. The service was professional and unpretentious and the ambiance was good. We brought our own wine in but the restaurant does have an extensive wine list. THe onion rings were excellent. This will be a regular stop on my future visits to Portland.

The menu has change the best steaks are no longer offered. Their best steak is not even great anymore. The lobster mashed potatoes also took a turn for the worst. Must be new owners, management and chef. Anyway this place is no longer a premiere steak house. I have my doubts if the steak I received was even a USDA PRIME cut. And the service, well, it was plain to see the servers aren't happy either. This place used to be my "go to" premium steak house and restaurant where I would take friends and family. Not anymore!!!

Enjoyed our meal very much, everything we ordered was delicious. The bar seemed to be a bit backed up, so to compensate for the delay in bringing our cocktails, our server, Susan, brought us each a glass of champagne. The food and atmosphere were lovely, and Susan was a top-notch server who enhanced an already great experience.

I went only to grab a beer and eat some small dish and a part from the darkness of the place the rest very authentic ando good. Bar attender was sharp but nice and the food was good, we took onion rings and small bites if grilled steak that was delicious

It had been 20 years since last I ate here but it hasn't changed at all. Absolutely delicious steak, juicy prime rib, amazing onion rings, terrific creamed spinach ... everything a good steak house should have plus great service. It's dark, simple, and very traditional; don't go expecting hip Portland! Expensive but well worth it. Go hungry!

When you enter this restaurant you immediately feel a sense of authenticity...you sense that for decades people have entered before and enjoyed all that the Ringside offers and returned time and again....perfect in every way...whether it’s the onion rings or a Porterhouse you’re there to enjoy it’s always a “ can’t miss “ experience....

We arrived around 5, we had made reservations. My husband requested a booth and it was pretty empty so surprised they sat us near kitchen door. My husband picked a bottle of Champagne and our server said they were having trouble locating it. Finally she came back with news of not having it. This was considerably going to be an upgrade in our next choice. My husband ordered the wedge salad, which he enjoyed. We followed with small onion ring, they were very good. We ordered main course of filet mignon with half lobster tail. Steak was good and have to say I do prefer Maine lobster.yum! They brought out creme brûlée with candle. (Nice touch). The thin cookie accompanied had a slight burnt taste. The only downside was our seating. Bill was over 500 with tip.

We arrived and parked with Valet, it was cold out and they had a warmer there for the patrons. We checked in for the reservation and were immediately seated. Our server took our drink order and then brought us some fabulous drinks. Then took our dinner order and we were served the most delectable food ever. Prime rib, Rib Eye steak and an order of onion rings. Wowser! The service was awesome as usual. We always tell others they should eat here. Now I see why Ringside has been on the nations top 10 steakhouse list for the last 35 years. When we got back outside to get our car the Valet guys treated us like royalty - I tipped them vey well and wished them a very Merry Christmas.

Had an excellent meal at the Ringside after a 40 yr absence. It just go better with superb food and superior service. one of my companions said it was best steakhouse he's ever been to.

I’ve always loved the Ringside since I turned 21 and snuck? sneaked? in among the gray hairs. We sat outside & had impeccable service. Louis was attentive & the other staff were happy to be there. The Crab Cocktail had way too much “mushed crab” but the sauce was excellent. Steaks & Wedge salad were high quality. The crime brûlée. Yes. Crime. Bit on the thin side with ok flavor. Enjoyed outside-so much quieter. Not quite at the standards I expect. It’s an old-school place who continues on due to its reputation & Quality. I would hate to see it slip into mediocrity.

No steakhouse is more traditional than this one so don’t expect huge surprises or uncommon service. However be prepared for expensive meat, which deserves to be though as it is top quality.

I went for lunch, which was lovely, but I thought their lunch menu was a little lacking, not much of a choice. The food was excellent though.

These steak house is higher end primer family run over decades and decades in Portland North side , truly a classic traditional steak house , decor cozy and romantic , it is my last night before I am going back to Vancouver tomorrow , so I invited my business associate for dinner , thank her to drove me around for meetings and sight seen , we are little early for our reservation , but the hostess so friendly got as seated right away , menu have a lot of steak choose , also from seafood to chicken , it is expensive fine dinning , I order the Crispy Octopus and Crab cake to share , the octopus amazing flavour , not chewy , my associate she love her King Salmon , delicious not overcooked , also a nice portion sizes , Of course my 20 oz Bone in Ribeye ( MR ) , prime of the prime , very tender juicy , excellent grilling , WOW ! the lobster mashed and the glazed mushrooms prefer combination for dinner , so delicious piping hot , good food quality and great professional service , never feel been rush , we both enjoyed the dinner and each another , very exceeded my expectations , so if you in Portland looking for a special place for dinner , or special occasions , Ringside Steakhouse is the number one choice ! truly recommended .

It’s the Ringside and it’s still great! Classic steakhouse and everything is good. It’s nice to know that some things never change and are consistent.

Being native Oregonians, the Ringside has always been a special treat for us. We weren’t sure if anything would’ve changed after the renovation. Fortunately, the best things did not change at all. The onion rings are still utterly delightful, crispy with the perfect Tang to the batter. Not greasy at all and a decadent treat. We had a baseball cut sirloin that was far more tender than the typical sirloin and very flavorful. Also a bone in New York, which did not disappoint with its richness and mouth feel. We treated ourselves to a bottle of Italian Amarone and it was a perfect compliment. Staff was attentive and knowledgeable. You will not be disappointed if you hit this staple establishment up. Sometimes the classics are the best.

We were seated at a small table there were 4 of us and two of us over 6ft and 200 lbs. we asked the hostess if she had a larger table and she said she didn’t. When the waiter came to take our order he immediately ask us if we would like a larger table? Yes thank you! The service was great and everyone’s food was excellent except for mine. I had order the dry aged prime rib eye. The steak looked amazing grilled with a perfectly brown outside. The problem was that the steak had so much fat that at least 50% of it was uneatable and because it had such a great color to the outside it was impossible to tell the lean from the fat until I had taken a bite. The waiter did notice how fat it was apologized and offer to comp out onion rings. I worked in the meat business for 40 years and I understand the a prime cut of rib eye can have a lot of fat. In my opinion the chef should of never served that steak to anyone. My bad for not sending it back! That being said The Ring Side is a Portland tradition and almost always a great dining experience.

We have been dining here for many years and are never disappointed. First the ambiance of an old-fashioned steak house with professional servers who know their trade well. We always start with a small order of onion rings, which is ample for two and the absolute best anywhere. Then on to their classic prime rib, small portion. Always delicious and perfectly prepared. This time we were there on Veteran's Day and were treated to a generous Veterans' discount on top of a special three course dinner special. We will be back as long as we are able and as long as they do not change.

Having tried a few other steakhouses in PDX, I keep coming back to the fact that I love Ringside. We have a special table we like and they honor the request for us when we make a reservation. Love the food and ambiance here. We'll be back!

This is one of the best specialty Steakhouses in the country and have been to many including ones in Honolulu, Chicago and New York. They have aged Steaks in various ranges and cuts. I would recommend the T-Bone dry aged if you prefer a deep hardy meal. They also have a variety of seasonal fresh seafood offerings for those in your party have are looking for something other than a meaty meal. The Chili-Lime Crab Cakes are a good place to start. All choices are excellent and you won’t be disappointed. Their marionberry Moscow Mule cocktail is a great place to start off your experience in this one of a kind dinning experience. Enjoy and you will.

From start to finish, the service was amazing! Present but not "hovery", and quick to make sure all needs were met. Steak seasoned to perfection, and the lobster mashed potatoes were an absolute mouthgasm!! One would assume at a place of this caliber, you'd get small portions, but I was HUNGRY and took leftovers with me. My bestie and I will DEFINITELY be back again for a special occasion!!

Located in mid-town with valet parking, you will not have to circle the block searching for a parking place. Inside, the room has dim lighting and a kind of western theme – think a longhorn rack hung above the door. Dinners are served in a one of several large rooms, not an intimate atmosphere, and the noise from the group near us really enjoying their meal was a bit distracting. You are likely to see a testimonial on the wall from your favorite sport hero touting the steaks, and they are absolutely spot on. We ordered the dry-aged, bone-in rib eye which was hands down the best steak I have ever tasted. I gulped at the price, but the steak was so melt-in-your-mouth good and cooked to perfection that the price was totally justified. On the side we chose the garlic mashed potatoes, which were probably very good; however, we were also intrigued by the lobster mashed potatoes, and we wolfed those down instead. With nice chunks of lobster cooked to perfection, a buttery taste, and an over-all light lobster-colored tinge, they were not-to-be-missed! The Ringside has a large cellar of wines from which to choose and offers a full bar. Service was excellent, and when we asked to move after initially being seated right outside the kitchen doors, the staff accommodated us immediately. The restaurant was packed on a Wednesday night, a testament to its good food . Many folks were munching on huge orders of monster onion rings. We were to full to order what must be a house special. Our only complaint was that the Bombay gin martini was small and disappointing. I look forward to coming back to Ringside again soon for a special occasion.

Other than the onion rings and polite waitress, the food has hit a shocking low point in my 30+ years of loving his landmark restaurant. My steak, formerly known as the Ringsider, was poorly prepared. The dessert was even worse. I am genuinely sad of the erosion of the food.

The Ringside is always a treat...it had been at least 6 or 8 years since I had been back, but it was a great experience. We flew into town with Friends for a football game (the food was much better than the game!) and did not come away disappointed. it was quiet enough for good conversation, and the food was fabulous!

Going to Ringside is an adventure worth saving up for. Great service; old time ambiance and great steaks with awesome onion rings.

We couldn’t afford to eat here on a regular basis, but we always enjoy our “splurge.” We had drinks at the enchanting old-school bar before dinner and paid for them there. Then we enjoyed oysters, salads, steaks, and fish as well as drinks and desserts at our table. Everything tastes amazing, and the ambience and service are wonderful. Our total dinner tab at our table for four was $311 before tip. We’ll definitely return - after we save up a little. And they do offer a prime rib special on Wednesday for $35.

I really expected a great experience at this restaurant! It offered valet parking, which started off our expectations at a very high level. The atmosphere was nice and we were promptly seated by a friendly hostess. The waiter was nice and cordial as you would expect for a quality steakhouse. So far so good! I had read the reviews and so ordered the onion rings, French onion soup, and a rib eye steak accompanied by garlic mashed potatoes. My wife ordered the fried chicken with garlic mashed potatoes. No drinks I was so dissapointed how bland my entire meal was! My wife had the same comment! The steak I ordered was medium rare....it came extremely rare. I would have enjoyed some rub on the steak perhaps, as it was quite bland. On a scale of 1-10. I would give the meal a 3 or 4. The price came to over $140. I am sorry to say, it was not money well spent! Maybe it was an off night....but I won't be back to find out! Sorry to say!

Amazing onion rings & NY steaks!! Romaine heart Caesar is spot on & wine list is fantastic! Great sides & desserts.

Decided to try out the local flare on our trip into Portland. Valet parking which is a necessity in Portland. Reservations are a must to be seated when you want to dine. Steaks were good but the sides were amazing. Our waiter, Jake, was exceptional at our table. Very good bread, extensive wine list and liquor selection from the bar. Very dim lighting and usually warm in the restaurant when we dined there.

When we saw Ringside Steakhouse was participating in Portland Dining Month, we did not hesitate in making a reservvation on the first day of the month. Every town has its local favorite and Ringside is Portlands go to resaturant. The wine list is to die for. The special 3 course Portland dining menu was a bargain. The creme brulee for desert may have been the best we ever had.

Went here for my husband's birthday for the best dinner ever. Request DEREK if you go, he has been with the restaurant for almost 25 years and is truly the best server ever! The onion rings are a must as well as any steak on the menu. Had the prime rib tonight which was excellent. Creme Brule for dessert. This restaurant has been going strong since 1944 and it is no surprise because of the excellent food, service and ambiance. We will be returning over and over and over. Highly recommend if you like DELICIOUS food!!!!

My wife & I spent the night in Portland helping our daughter move. Exhausted I thought I'd order from Ringside through door dash. Ordered salad, steak, onion rings desert etc. food was good, but overshadowed by nothing to eat with. The to go bags ere sealed properly by Ringside, so where is the plastic ware to eat with? I mean what the heck? Is it such a mental leap to think that we don't want to eat with our hands? This isn't a door dash issue, it is the restaurant managers and training issue. Driving through McDonald's and the kid with his first job forgets this or that, no big deal, but Ringside, come on For a $120.00 take out meal how about assuming that your customer might need a 25 cent pack of plasticware?

Unfortunately I don’t have much to say about this restaurant - I had travelled from England with my girlfriend for her 21st birthday and booked a table in advance...the service seemed good and the restaurant was beautiful. We were sat down and greeted but immediately made to feel out of place (I have tattoos and we’re a young couple). I ordered some red wine and my ID was checked - I had a drivers license as, of course, no one carries around their passport. I was refused wine and although my girlfriend didn’t want to drink it left a sour taste in my mouth. We walked out purely due to the lack of discretion and respect our waitress showed us as tourists hoping for a special night. I highly recommend anywhere else - no other restaurant or bar has has a problem with my British drivers license.
Practically Perfect Experience
The food and service at Ringside are among the best I’ve experienced in my years of fine dining. However, the restaurant is not perfect. The ambience is amazing, wonderful, romantic.... pick your adjective. Lots of red brick, dark wood and a roaring fireplace. I love the look and feel of this place. But it’s just short of five star dining. Cocktail pours are below average for finer establishments and they don’t offer cappuccino or lattes after dinner, as do most great steakhouses. Our server was spot on, but the busses and runners seemed disinterested. Other than those issues Ringside is great. Our table started by sharing an order of fried onion rings. These are supposed to be the signature appetizer. They were good, but they were not amazing. They’re onion rings! The prime rib and steaks were amazing! Cooked and seasoned to perfection. The vegetables sides from sautéed spinach to roasted cauliflower were also wonderful. I loved the wine selection too. A good variety and price point. The top tier house cab was good enough that we ordered a bottle. This is a fine restaurant, probably the best steakhouse in Portland. But it doesn’t stack up against the best steakhouses in America, so it only gets four stars from me.
