We were in love with this place! The employees were all Italian and knew their stuff, in fact I had my waiter order for me! Food was so good, definitely not like chain Italian restaurants!! Prices were reasonable! The atmosphere made you feel like you were back in time and exactly how you would picture a family owned, real-deal Italian place to be! I especially loved the celebrity wall!

My wife and I had dinner tonight at Firenze by Night. Felt like a neighborhood restaurant with a really fun vibe. The meal was excellent. The service was outstanding. I have not been to Italy but this felt like it could have been. Fun and enjoyable.

I could not tell you what makes it authentic. Sorry, I'm not from Italy. What I can say is that on a Tuesday night, I was served a delightful experience. The food was as if it was prepared in a kitchen....at home. The service was perfect. The time between my house salad and the main course seemed long (2, 3 minutes) until I had my first bite. You can't create a roast anything in 10 or 20 minutes, but this was not something reheated. It was just amazing. With a glass of the house Pino, it rang in at $50. I was here on business, the staff treated me like royalty. What a gem.

The menu was very interesting and good value, the starters offered limited choice but were all good. The trick with this place is to ask about the specials as they are the gems! My view is that the very able chefs can cook that menu all day long but they really express themselves with the specials. I had the fillet of beef with ground veal and prosciutto in Marsala sauce....amazing. One of our group had the renowned gnocchi ( he is a gnocchi zealot!) and he loved it. The desserts were incredible and espressos were just perfect, great staff, friendly and very accommodating. One last tip...linger a while on the way back from the loos to look at the pics of the famous folk who have dined here.... you are in very good company... enjoy!

I have eaten here a number of times when in the area for work. The food is always wonderful, don't just skip the specials as they can be very special. Staff is very good and we always let them pick a nice bottle of red wine and we have never been disappointed. Very classic Italian restaurant and having been to Italy, I would not understand a poor review.

The house made gnocchi was AMAZING!!! Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, it was the best meal we had while in the US (1 month)! HIGHLY recommend this place!

Highly recommend. Very charming joint with friendly service and absolutely fantastic food. Do yourself a favor and bring yourself here.

Hands down the worst Italian food I’ve had in the US. Just returned from Florence 4 days ago and my aunt wanted to go to a local authentic Italian restaurant to relive our experience. Granted that is a high bar to relive but I was not even expecting to compare my meals in Tuscany to my meals in SF. Just wanted a decent Italian dinner. With that said I ordered the carpaccio which no joke may have been Oscar Meyer ham with capers and cheese on top. Also ordered the “award winning” gnocchi in light tomato cream sauce which might have been Chef Boyardee - couldn’t tell.. and the fettuccine with basil pesto which was fine and tasted the freshest but that was relative to the rest. What a disappointment. Would not recommend nor will I return. Ciao!

The staff made us feel like they knew us as son as we arrived. The menu has some Italian stand-bys as well as their own specialities. The service was well-paced and the food was fantastic! Highly recommend.

We came here right after the early show at Beach Blanket. Great choices on the menu, pasta, veal, beef, We had gnocchi, (good choice), pappardelle, risotto, we also had salads, food and service was very good. Fun friendly place, great location to explore North Beach

Based on the good reviews of authentic Italian cuisine, we took friends who were visiting from out of state. Waiter and service were fine; olive oil good, bread mediocre. Veal and chicken were tender with flavorful sauces but the pastas were appalling-- so thick and doughy. The pappardelle with rabbit was just sad-- have never tastsed such awful pasta--same with the ravioli. Will not return.

My wife, my brother and I dined here on 8 April. It was a last minute decision and luckily the restaurant was able to accommodate us because both the meal and the service were excellent. I was indecisive between ordering the fresh fish of the day (sole) and the gnocchi. Nadia (who was amazing from beginning to end) suggested having the sole but gave us the gnocchi as a side dish. These are not bed fellows that instantly come to mind but I was so pleased that we were able to sample both dishes.as they were both delightful. The sole was beautiful and I have no hesitation in saying the gnocchi was the best I have ever tasted. Had my wife and I not been leaving town the following day, we would have definitely booked dinner for the following night too. Thank you Nadia. Thank you Firenze by Night. Please please dine here if you visit San Francisco.

A little expensive by Canadian standards but totally reasonably priced for San Francisco. Delicious food, fun atmosphere and excellent service from Fabio. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Decided on this restaurant based on the reviews. Wish we hadn't bothered we arrived to be squeezed into a table which didn't give us a lot of room to get up and down without knocking the table next to us which was awkward. The gentleman waiting on us (think he was the head waiter) seemed to be so rushed not friendly at all!! He started off by telling us the specials but spoke so fast we didn't understand a word he said. We ordered our food which was fine and came promptly and was nice. During our main course my partner went to the rest room which was an horrendous experience for him. The men's was blocked so he told one of the waiters who tried to pass him the plunger to unblock it himself to which my partner responded you must be joking bearing in mind he hadn't even used the toilet at this point. The waiter then sent him to the ladies and when he was washing his hands the waste from the blocked toilet starting spitting up through the sink!!!!!! I asked for the check as we wanted to be out of the place as soon as possible!! It took the waiter 20 minutes to bring it which was annoying!! No apology when it finally arrived. We handed and our money over and waited for our change the waiter disappeared waited another 10 minutes for him to eventually bring it back. When he did he asked us how much tip we were leaving!!!! How rude and frankly didn't feel he deserved one!!!! If it hadn't of been for the food actually being nice I would have asked for all of my money back!!! Overall would not go back to this place not a friendly place at all!!

This restaurant has a cozy atmosphere. I was impressed with the prompt service and appreciated the nice touch of our server lighting the candle lamps when we sat down. Our food arrived promptly, which was impressive, since we had a good-sized party. I enjoyed my ravioli and wish we would have had time to stay for dessert.

Visiting SF and hadn’t made a dinner reservation - Walked by Firenze at 4:00pm on Saturday before it was open but asked the guys setting up if we could come back at 6:00pm. Turns out that one of them was the owner and he was very gracious. So we ate dinner and it was just outstanding. The good and the service could not have been better. I don’t know why this is not the #1 Italian restaurant in SF but it should be. Have dined at many higher rated restaurants but none were as good as Firenze. A packed out local crowd appears to share my opinion.

Italy is short distance from San Francisco Bay. Step in the door and step back intoToscana. Vino Pasta , Primo Piatta and Apps and Dolce. Beautiful setting.

Wonderful, wonderful experience. The waiters are Italian, the food is Italian, the decor is Italian and experience was top notch. The food was delicious beginning from the great home made bread they brought just as we sat down. We'd made a reservation for our party of 8 after our show, which was done 45 minutes earlier than we thought. Upon arrival, they immediately set up our table and we were seated within 5 minutes. The chicken was tender, the eggplant/zucchini appetizer was crazy delicious and the Caesar salad was terrific, too. Will definitely come back here the next time we're in town.

Every time we come to San Francisco we eat here. There’s nothing fancy about the restaurant or decor just great Italian food served by friendly waiters. We love the food and the gnocchi is the best. It melts in your mouth.

This storefront restaurant is located on the fringes of Chinatown and North Beach. A friend had recommended it. What a find! The Italian food was outstanding, and the service excellent. There was an informal atmosphere about the restaurant, but they were serious about their food. The sauces in particular were excellent, as were the specials of the day. For the City, we thought that the prices were very reasonable.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner at this warm & friendly restaurant. Everything from the fresh tomatoes on the bruschetta to the lovely homemade Limoncello was outstanding. Pasta, sauce, bread and wine were all fantastic, as was the service. I would definitely recommend and will return again!

I loved this restaurant. Busy, bustling and noisy. North Beach at its best! The award winning gnocchi was tops. Billowy and light and packed w flavor. My linguini w garlic , anchovies and red pepper was killer. Home made pasta w this wonderful balanced sauce. Hot but not burning..... balanced. My wife enjoyed a fettucchini w a mushroom tomato basil sauce that she had to shoo me away from. The tomato caprese was nicely presented altho the tomatoes could have been a bit riper. Service was attentive and Italian. Relaxed..... competent. The wine list focused on Italian wines which I have limited knowledge of so I stuck w California and enjoyed a Markham Merlot! (come on people Sideways is ancient history.) Desserts were wonderful. I recall an ice cream cake a chocolate decadent cake....... let em eat cake... and we did. 2-3 hours later. (Nobody rushes you here) we left very happy . Glad I wasn't driving.

We went to Beach Blanket Babylon and the concierge recommended Firenze after the show. It was awesome. Short walk from the theatre. The atmosphere was urban Italian and friendly. The gnocchi was to die for. The service was excellent. Highly recommend.

Firenze by Night is an authentic Italian restaurant in North Beach San Francisco. Everyone needs to go to. The pastas are delicious and airy. The appetizers are well portioned and easy to share. The main courses are full of flavor. We ordered the bruschetta and meat platter as appetizers, a combo pasta as the second course (ask the waiter for the risotto, gnocchi, and ravioli), and specials for main course including ossu bucco, the quail, and mushroom chicken. Everything was delicious. Take away-go very hungry Park in the lot up the street Save room for dessert.

We had an excellent dinner for our family of five. The menu options were varied and delicious. Our waiter was super with a great personality. Would highly recommend.

We were not disappointed in our first visit to this restaurant. We wanted Italian, and we got Italian. The portions were generous, and the food arrived steaming hot and delicious. The gnocchi lived up to its reputation, as did the paperadelle with rabbit sauce. We both left satisfied, carrying home enough for lunch tomorrow.

The chicken with artichokes was excellent. Our waiter was fantastic and offered good recommendations.

Smell of truffle oil walking in told me this was classic Italian dining. Dark well appointed tables with accented waiters. proof of authenticity comes from the delicious dishes. My sole in lemon butter sauce with pasta. Insalata w Buffalo mozzarella is fresh but OMG the cheesecake. Great wine selection. Lots of choices on North Beach. Consider this one.

...just the two of us to enjoy some excellent seafood, homemade pasta and a nice bottle of chianti. The gnocchi were especially good. Friendly, attentive service the whole meal.

We just stopped by for desert and liqueur! And we were given a fabulous (if not sarcastic) welcome! Great deserts and drinks to round off a fantastic sightseeing day and to complement the fish stew we had in a very busy bustling Resturant nearby. We just needed a bit of quality time together im quality surroundings and this did the trick. Dave was very baseball savvy and gave us a good grounding before our visit to our first game the next day. Thanks Dave it was all useful!

One of the best restaurants I had dinner at in SF. Impeccable service. Several daily specials the server suggested right away. Plenty of wine (and other beverages) to choose from! Everything came out quickly and tasted amazing! Definitely make sure to try this place if you're visiting!

Enjoyed a fabulous dinner our last night in San Fran. We visited on the recommendation of the hotel manager and we were not disappointed. Food was outstanding and service was excellent. But most importantly we were treated like family. Perfect for those who want to be were the locals go and get away from the tourist traps.

Excellent Italian food in north beach. Great atmosphere and well prepared traditional Italian dishes.

I had the Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli with Meat Sauce it was very good. My husband had the Seafood Special. He said it was excellent. We enjoyed our meal. They were very busy, but we were not rushed at all.

This restaurant was recommended to us and it was great. Busy place proving how good it was. The gnocchi was fantastic (award winning!) and the lamb main was delicious. Great staff.

We went to Firenze by Night for dinner with a party of nine before attending Beach Blanket Babylon. Our table was waiting for us when we arrived. Our waiter, Fabio, was Fabulous - so much energy and a great Italian accent. I even asked the manager if it was real - it was! The menu was very nice - not so many dishes that you wonder how they could get them all right. And they had a number of specials - which Fabio recited by heart. Every dish was perfect. The salads were unique - while they had the typical Caesar Salad, everyone ordered something different. The burrata with beets seemed to be a preference. The food was tasty and hot. I ordered the Capellini Pomodoro E Basilico and I asked for some chicken on it - no problem, it was great. Firenze by Night is in the heart of North Beach and it is certainly high up on my list of restaurants to frequent in the area.

This is our 2nd time to this restaurant and I think it was even better this time (if that's possible). Everything was great from the drinks at the bar (lively Cheers atmosphere) to the delicious meal...appetizers, salads and entrees were authentic Italian and full of flavor! The service was excellent as well! I highly recommended the restaurant!!

Real italians working there, owner is italian and his family is working there. Nadja is a nice person! The waiters were very friendly, attentive and quick. Athosphere pretty loud. The Minestrone was wonderful, adjustements of dishes no prob, very flexible! Grilled fish was good and the housemade pasta wonderful. They also serve great tuscan wine by the glass!

Great restaurant. A bit noisy in the section we were in. Food was great. The owner has had the restaurant for 32 years and he and the waiters are all Italian too. Lovely photos on the wall signed by loads of celebrities including Elvis. Great night and great good - risotto porcini was to die for

This restaurant certainly doesn't need another great review but I could find no fault. From the lovely bartender that made a perfect negroni to the spot on server we felt that we were in great hands. We started with the snails that were delicious. The focaccia was perfect to sop up the butter and not over the top garlic. I had the gnocchi and my husband had the veal special. Everything was great. Finished off our wine ( which was an Italian super Tuscan recommended by the bartender) with some biscotti. Very affordable and we will definitely return.

We saw this place on Check Please so tried it. The bruschetta was good with fresh tomato and garlic but the mozzarella with tomato was disappointing. The mozzarella did not melt in your mouth. In fact is was hard and the tomato was not ripe. I loved the special which was black squid pasta with clams, mussels and white fish with a light tomato sauce. It was delicious. My husband has pappardelle pasta with rabbit sauce which he said was okay. Not much rabbit taste. The vegetarian lasagna was really good. The only entre with eggplant which was surprising. All in all, the meal was good, service was great and very reasonably priced. We'll be back!

Firenze by Night is about a block away from Columbus Avenue in North Beach. This is an area popular with tourists, but there is nothing touristy about this authentic Italian restaurant. Firenze is the Italian name for Florence, and it's well suited to this very nice restaurant. We were warmly greeted at the door and quickly shown our seat on a Sunday evening. It has the feel of an Italian cafe, with lots of wood, warmth, and just the right amount of wear. Firenze has, as you would expect, Italian food offerings. They're all well prepared and arrived promptly. The service was friendly without being intrusive. This is just a nice neighborhood Italian restaurant. Perfect for us on a Sunday night.

Very comfortable charming atmosphere for any size group. Very attentive wait staff. Menu items are hit or miss though. The stuffed mushrooms were too few and bland. The special pork medallions in marsala wine truly had no zip or zest to the entree. Only the pappardelle with rabbit sauce plus the soft gnocchi delivered the right gusto to make it memorable. Nice bar setup for early cocktails or wine. Very busy street. No valet assistance available.

We went to this restaurant for dinner for my Italian boyfriend's father who just turned 83. I had the cannelloni stuffed wth chicken and prosciutto. Dad had the risotto and mom had the veal wth pesto. We had antipasto platter beforehand and shared 2 tartufo di chocolate. Mmm. Outstanding service. Would love to eat here every night if I lived here!

This is definitely a bustling place...great services and the food is simply amazing - from appetizer to desert! We found the food to be very authentic. My wife ordered the Ricotta and spinach filled Ravioli and it reminded her very much of her mum's homemade pasta. We ended the meal with a wonderful frozen peach that was filled with peach sorbet - simply outstanding! We will certainly stop by on our next visit to SF.

Referred to us by a local. We took our pre-teen for a night of Italian. The food was delicious! We enjoyed authentic Italian food with a bottle of wine for the adults. The staff was friendly and attentive. The portions are big and though we should have shared a plate. I'm glad we didn't because it was worth the left overs the next day.

A cousin who lives in San Francisco recommended Firenze By Night and we were not disappointed. Much less touristy than anything in the pier area. Food was fabulous. Wine was great and the service was perfect. Prices were very reasonable. Their award winning gnocchi was $21. My wife's chicken was a little overcooked, but very flavorful. Everyone around us was having fun and enjoying wonderful authentic Italian food. What more can you ask for in a restaurant?

We celebrated our 40th anniversary when we traveled to SF and enjoyed a special dinner here. What a great meal! We enjoyed the gnocchi which was just incredible. Super salads, too! Service was very good.

I have been to this restaurant several times and the food has been good overall, but not impressive. The pasta is good- pasta dishes would be my choice over some of the other dishes we have tried. Even the specials have not been as good as the basic pasta dishes. Seafood dishes have been disappointing considering the proximity of fresh seafood markets.

Wonderful classics Italian food. We had two pasta in first course that were wonderful. The entree was petrale and veal. Great wine selection. Chef came to table. Great hospitality. Located close to public parking. This is place for locals as well as tourists.

We had a bit of a wait, which usually indicates good food. In this case, the food was outstanding. The homemade pastas were delicious. Loooved the quail and tomato /cheese salad. Wished we had room to try the dessert, but filled up on yummy breads and apps. My kids were thrilled with the lemonade because it too was authentically Italian and what they remembered for their visit. We will definitely have to return when we go to San Fran again. Great service as well.

Great food, authentic and fresh. We had a great overall experience with food, staff, service. The owner was there to make sure everyone had a great time.

Delicious Italian food, expansive menu and wine list, authentic atmosphere, warm service. Glad to be tipped off to this place by a local in a bar down the street. If you go, take some time to explore the bars down Columbus Ave - several great ones a block away.

Four of us went there on a Saturday night to have a great meal and catch after not seeing each other for months. The wait was about 20 minutes, not bad for a Saturday night. The place was packed, a good sign, but it proved to be too loud to talk across the table. The food got mixed reviews from our experience. Two of us thought it was good and two thought it could have come from a can. Either way we all thought the food was over-priced. Firenza By Night has a great energy but you shouldn't mistake crowded for cozy or intimate. It's neither. My sense is the restaurant survives on its reputation.

This is a hidden gem, and I am glad I found it. The service is just outstanding. They were super friendly, helpful and made us feel just good as a customer. The food was amazing from the starters, over the gnocchi to the past or other dishes we had. This will not be the last time that I will visit the restaurant

On the edge of Chinatown and Little Italy, it didn't look much from the street. The restaurant itself is a cozy place, seating is a little tight, but it helps to create that intimate feel you'd get in Italy. We had eleven people for dinner, everyone's dishes came out perfectly. My sisters decided to split an entree and they delivered to the table on two separate plates. The service was excellent - attentive without being intrusive. Most of us had the specials of the day - there was a long list of them, so I can't really comment on the menu items. My pork medallions were done perfectly, I surprised myself by finishing them even though I had a late lunch prior to coming here. We came in on a Sunday night expecting to be a little slow, but it was busy enough to be full. I'd hate to see it on a busier night. I guess everyone knows about this gem of a place too. It's definitely on my list to return to it next time.

Excellent Italian Little Italy Visited last couple annual trips to SF and never disappoint. Fabio and Paulo excellent service and food great. 2 x in 5 days because that good. Ciao.

Let me begin by saying that I am an eggplant parm snob. I will NOT even eat an eggplant parm unless the eggplant is fresh. When I sank my teeth into the eggplant parm at Firenze, there was absolutely NO question that it was fresh...and probably ONE of the best eggplant park dishes I have ever had....and I have dined in Florence, Italy on several occasions. If that was not enough, the gnocchi, which had come HIGHLY recommended as one of the "must have" dishes, began with very high expectations. And I can tell you, without question, those expectations were exceeded in spades! Unfortunately, my dinner colleague had a nasty allergic reaction to a previously unknown seafood allergy, so we were forced to depart before I was able to finish licking my plate clean. The entire staff was amazing in handling my friend's episode - as we were forced to go to the hospital. My friend is doing fine - my only regret....I did not get a doggie bag for the eggplant and gnocchi!!!

A couple weeks ago, we and friends from Florida had dinner at Firenze by Night. We'd seen it reviewed on Check Please Bay Area and made reservations for a Sunday at 5:30 PM. When we arrived, there were only a few tables with patrons, so we expected at least good service. Unfortunately, our server 'Edgar' didn't do a good job; he didn't even offer-bring bread until we requested it nor did he seem to know the 'specials' w/o having to look back at the kitchen where he could read what the specials were. To make things worse, about 10-minutes after we arrived, the table next to us was seated with 'regulars' who were treated like 'royalty' by Edgar and Chef-Owner Sergio. They actually had 'two servers' waiting on them. It was at least 20-minutes before Edgar came back to take our orders or even ask if we'd like drinks, etc...; we had to ask him for bread. Once our orders were taken, shortly after he brought out our salads, he arrived with our entrees, before we were even close to finishing our tiny salads. All of us were very pleased with our entrees; the 'seafood cannelloni' I had was one of the best I've ever tasted. The small salads with a some spinach leaves, a couple tiny slices of cucumber, and a couple tiny tomatoes were way over-priced at $8.50 ea. The entrees were all reasonably priced, but the deserts were over-priced. We shared a 'small' piece of tiramisu which was very good, but cost $9.00 IF we'd had better service, this review would have been a '4', rather than only a '3'; not sure if we'd go back, even though the entrees were very good.

Not very many late night options for quality dining.. Firenze fit the bill perfectly. Homemade pasta was delicious. Good vegetarian options. Service was also top notch. Will return

I've dined here several times and keep coming back for the Pappardelle with Porcini Mushrooms and Wild Meat (they mean: cute lil' bunny)

Fabulous experience with great food and excellent service. Loved the ambience and general vibe. Will definitely visit again and recommend highly.

This North Beach eatery is crowded. Tables are placed so close together diners bump into other diners chairs to move around. It's noisy. Our foursome sometimes couldn't hear each other speaking. Service we elegant and friendly, but slow. We had 8:00 reservations and didn't get seated until 8:40. Our meals didn't arrive until close to 10:00. But the food was amazing! Everything from the salads and tortellini soup to the linguini and clams were delicious. My chicken and artichokes in white wine sauce was out of this world. The extensive Italian wine list was perhaps one of the best I've ever seen. We had a wonderful super Tuscan and an Amarone. Both were delicious accompaniments to the meal. I wish I could give this place six stars for the food! The ambience deserves only three stars.

Flying in from across the country this restaurant was # 1 on my cousins hit parade! We arrived with cousin and were greeted by owner! Wonderful pasta and fish. Great place for a group gathering. Bit loud for romantic dinner, but we are a happy group! A bit cramped in space but not goo old charm

Fantastic! Lovely! Great atmosphere! Friendly staff! Delicious food!Recommended by the concierge at our hotel and did not disappoint. Highly recommend and would definitely return on the next visit to town. The tiramisu was delicious as well.

We were recommended by another Italian restaurant which was full to try Firenze. Glad we did as they were able to accommodate our small party of 3. We had a lovely Italian meal with an Italian speaking waiter who server and well prepared pastas and meats. I had the Brasiole special which was wonderfully done. Reasonable wine list and nice atmosphere.

Birthday celebration for my wife while in San Francisco for leisure trip. We had a blast. The food was fantastic, the service great and the overall atmosphere perfect. And they had a bottle of my wife’s favorite wine. How great was that?

Food was excellent and staff really friendly. Regrettably my wife left a pair of Ray Bans sunglasses behind when we left and we did not notice until the next day when we were leaving San Francisco. We called the restaurant after it opened and we're told the glasses were not found. We were the last customers to leave that section of the restaurant and there were loads of staff in the area so the only assumption was that the glasses were found and not returned by a staff member. This is a pity as the food and staff to that point were very good.

Exquisite food, old school Italian waiter who was attentive but not overly so, intimate surroundings. Worth a try for sure!

Service was fantastic and prompt. Walked in without reservation and was seated immediately. Large portions, food was good and fresh.

I went this restaurant following the good reviews. I think I had a bad luck. I ordered the risotto and it was awful. I knew it when the waiter brought it 5 minutes later I ordered. I had to put a lot of cheese and salt to get some flavor. The wine was fine. It is not a cheap restaurant, the risotto is $22.00 and the BTG $10.00. I didn't order dessert. It's very easy to arrive in public transportation. Maybe next time.

My aunt always knows the best restaurants so it was no surprise when 15 of us (no joke) were seated at a giant table (staff is very accommodating) and everyone absolutely loved their dish. I have been back with my boyfriend and Firenze did not disappoint. One can always count on Firenze to serve amazing Italian food in a fun, unpretentious atmosphere. The place is always busy so reservations are not a bad idea.

We took in an early dinner at Firenze. What a delightful evening. Although bustling with a crowd it seemed as if we were the only patrons there, the service was that good. Our meals were excellent and just the right portions. We were shocked at how modest the bill was, so we stayed for desserts. Well done Firenze!

Outstanding family Italian dinner. Wow! Their gnocchi is amazing and actually everything we ordered was delicious. From lamb shank to seafood pasta to delicious dessert! Don’t miss this place.

I went to Firenze, Italy last summer and when we decided to have Italian in SF, I immediately thought of this place. I had seen it before on Yelp and it served typical dishes that we tried in Firenze so we booked it. The owner was really nice and since I know Italian it was a pleasure to speak a few Italian bits with him, he reminded me so much of my dad - filled with energy. What a character. We had booked a table for four (this place is only open for dinner by the way) and we arrived 15 min early but the owner wouldn't sit us until the full group showed up hahaha - I thought this was very original because most places will usually make you sit right away. But we didn't mind waiting. He saw me being a bit tired so he decided however to make us sit before our friends actually showed up (which was like 5 min later). We had a nice table. The interior design is really beautiful and not pretentious at all. Nice decor, art and tables have space between them which is nice. The place was absolutely full and buzzing. Between the four of us we ordered the bruscheta (which was normal but heavy on the garlic a bit), a Chianti bottle of wine (which was bit vinegary but I guess most chiantis are like that, suggest to try a different wine) ravioli della mamma which were really nice, risoto porcini (which was fabulous, my God the taste of porcini was insane), veal saltimboca ( a real winner) and sadly I went for the pappardelle toscana with rabbit sauce but have to say it was a let down - the ratio of pasta versus sauce was not in balance, there was way too much pasta and way too little sauce and it felt watered down in terms of taste. Overall I had a lovely experience so will definitely be back to try more dishes. We ended it with the truffle chocolate ice cream which was soooooooooooooooo good!!! Bon Apetito :) The staff was very friendly and the owner came to check on us couple times during our meal and at the end so that had a nice touch since the place was so busy. Will definitely be back for more.

If you are looking for great Italian food, reasonable ambiance in a non tourist environment at a reasonable price this place is perfect for you. Located in North Beach and easy to find. We started with procutto and melon and a mozzarella and tomato salad. Both were very good. Eggplant for Sally and pasta bolognese for me. Very good. Wine prices were reasonable and we promised ourselves to return the next time we are in San Francisco.

Casual, yet sophisticated atmosphere. The service was excellent and the food was amazing. The pasta must be made fresh, the sauces were spot on without being heavy or over spiced. Great place for just enjoying dinner or for a special occasion.

Pretty atmosphere. Good music although it was a little too low to fully appreciate. Tables are close to one another so I would keep the party size small. The food tasted from scratch. Highly recommend.

The service, the food, wine are all outstanding. The owners, servers and bartenders treat you like family and the food is served hot. We were a walk in and it didn't seem to be an issue around 8pm. If you're in San Fran, check this place out. You won't find another place like it.

If you are going to Little Italy to grab some Italian food, stay off the main drag (Columbus) and try the family-owned places on the side streets. Our hotel concierge recommended Firenze by Night and it did not disappoint. The owner met us at the door and made us feel at home. Our server was old-school Italian and really went the extra mile to make our family feel welcome. Make sure to call ahead for reservations. Dan's Travel Tip #1: Make sure to try the Prosciutto & Melon.

Had the pleasure of eating at Firenze By Night and truly enjoyed the experience! Greeted by the owner who clearly couldn't do enough to make everything perfect. The waiter was excellent and the service outstanding. There aren't enough adjectives to describe the food. There were six of us in our party and everybody ordered something different. We had the opportunity to try everybody else's food and each one was better then the one before!! Firenze By Night is a definite must eat place if you're in San Francisco. Again, a truly wonderful experience.

Ten of us had dinner here before going to a play. Every one of us were extremely satisfied with both service and food. I ordered fresh sole, it was the best I have EVER had. Sole is one of the few fishes I will eat, I've ordered it from a lot of restaurants. Here it was thick and delicious. YUM! SF is a two hour drive for me, but I will be back the next time I'm in the City.

Traveling with a party of 6, we wanted solid Italian food for our first night in San Francisco and we certainly found it. Ordered the PAPPARDELLE TOSCANA and it was amazing. Service was tremendous. We didn't have a reservation and they were able to sit us before the rush came.

Take a virtual trip to Florence at this vintage Italian restaurant with some of the best pasta options you find anywhere. We had three different pastas and all three of us that they were fantastic. Say hello to Sergio when you arrive.

My husband and I truly felt we like were almost back in Italy from the quality and taste of the food! We devoured our gnocchi and fettuccini pesto! Can’t go wrong with anything on the menu

Really nice meal , good service and the wine wasn’t bad either , I would have given 5 if the limoncello was any good but it was pretty bad

My husband and I took his coworker here upon the recommendation of a friend back home and a local we met the night before. I was expecting a lot, but the meal was just fair. I wish I had ordered one of their award winning dishes. The Ravioli Della Mamma was ok, but the coworker we dined with ordered a nightly seafood special and really enjoyed it. The service was wonderful. The atmosphere was genuine and charming.

We were meeting a friend for dinner and she recommended this beautiful restaurant in North Beach just off Columbus Ave. It has a good selection of wines & different old style Italian dishes. The Manager/Maitre 'D was very good with his suggestions and a good host as well. My wife had the Rissotto with Chorizo & Mushroom while my friend & I went for the swordfish which I had never tried before and it was a good choice as it was cooked to perfection with a big portion. The restaurant is very nice with a big mural of Florence across the main wall and was the birthplace of the Restaurant Manager's parents. A really nice place for lovers of old school Italian food

We visit SF a couple of times per year and look forward to a dinner at Firenze. We were there last Sunday and once again enjoyed the whole experience: food, service, ambiance and value.

Took the advice of the concierge at out hotel and this place did not disappoint. You will need reservations since it is not a big place, but the service and food is absolutely wonderful. I had the Osso Buco that was excellent. All the pasta tastes like it is homemade and cooked to perfection. If you are in the area it is worth it.

The atmosphere was wonderful. It's great when you go to an Italian restaurant and half the people in the place, including the waiters, are speaking Italian! From the time we arrived to the time we left, we felt like part of the family. I had a dish with rolled beef over veal, and my wife had the veal Marsala. Neither of us would say the food was outstanding, but the restaurant as a whole was just such an authentic, warm, family-friendly place. I would certainly recommend it, and we hope to be back.

One of the last long time traditional Italian neighborhood restaurants left in North Beach. Nice interior setting, full service bar, great service from longtime Italian wait staff. A few of the table are squeezed in so if you’re in one of the main travel paths for waiters it can be a bit annoying. Food is excellent. We all loved our entrees. Sole, Osso Buco, sward fish all excellent. Overall great, highly recommend if you’re in NB. Highly recommend reservations.

Very busy place. Recommended by our bartender at the hotel we are staying at. Well worth the $6 uber ride! Authentic Italian--- we got two of the specials and shared and both were excellent! I would come back and I recommend this place definitely!!!!

The atmosphere was good with Italian waiters over-playing Italian waiters. The veal dished were made by old meat and tasted as if they had been in the garbage can for ages, The Antipestos were acceptable but not great. I strongly advice you never to go to this turist trap. The 4,5 point rating must have written by the resturant people themselves. I visited the place with friends from Italy and they were visibly embarrased.

My husband and I had a great dinner here while enjoying a short stay in San Francisco. We had mussels & clams marinara and stuffed mushrooms as appetizers - the shellfish were great but the mushrooms, while flavorful, were a bit oily. Shared gnocchi and farfalle with rabbit for dinner - both were served steaming hot and full of fresh pasta. Definitely the best gnocchi both of us have ever had. The service was really lovely and we never felt rushed. Cozy, unpretentious little place. We really enjoyed our meal here.

Sought out this place while on a recent family vacation in town and it was definitely worth seeking out. Arrived with no reservation about 8pm on a Monday and were seating with essentially no wait. Restaurant looks like a classic out of the 50's (which I mean as a compliment), with nice Italian murals on the walls and old wine bottles in wicker and low lighting; looks like it has been in business a long time. The staff seems to be all from the Old Country and our experience felt very fun and authentically Italian. Our waiter was very friendly and professional and I felt comfortable using my menu-level Italian. Our two teenage children really enjoyed their choices even though they were a bit outside their range of experience (our son tried the capon). Based on other reviews I had to try the gnocchi. Literally the best gnocchi I have ever had in my life! It says "award winning" on the menu and I can see why. Don't miss it. Some other tourists in the place but also some obvious locals for whom this seems to be a Special Spot. Deservedly so.

We were recommended this restaurant by the concierge at our hotel. I ordered the chicken and mushroom ravioli special and there was only one word to describe it- Bland. There was no flavor at all. My husband ordered the Fettuccine Buon Gustaio and it wasn’t bad, but not great. We were celebrating his birthday, but it was so loud we couldn’t even carry on a conversation. What was suppose to be a romantic dinner wound up be a rush to leave.

I visited Firenze on a recommendation from my hotel and couldn't have been happier. The waiter addressed us in Italian, offered simple pastas for my kids and provided excellent service. The owner/manager visited the tables and the service was good. The rabbit sauce pasta was excellent. the wine selection was a little limited but it did the trick. Very good experience in the city.

what to say since sergio the chief patriarch of the house is gone!!!!! the family took over the family home more nothing have 4 small pieces of tomato at 40$ frankly it's exaggerating!!!! osso bucco has35$ tasteless with a glass of red wine super Tuscan acid disappointed we went back on our dear hunger for what it's thank you sergio for your excellent cuisine other times good retirement ....times change......

Tourist trap...... Food average, service slow, prices top end and they add gratuity without you asking and that for a group of four with no desserts and only two starters was 30 dollars. If you don't pay and only leave half they follow you out the restaurant and tell you it's the Law.Checked with our rep and hotel and there words were you have been conned! You have been warned!!!

The place was recommended by a local we met. The wait for a table on a Friday was not long (unusual) and the food was delicious! The service was efficient and pleasant and the wine selection was decent. We would visit here again!

excellent restaurant. Service is spot on, professional and discrete. Food is outstanding. We were a party of 4 and we ordered for starters; antipasto platter, Buffalo Mozzarella with Tomato and Basil, and Mussels and Clams Marinara Style. They were all excellent. The Mussels were the largest I have seen. We then shared a order of GNOCCHI FIRENZE !!! OUTSTANDING!!!! I have never had gnocchi this light. It was so light and airy!!! Entrees were stuffed trout, veal, Quail in Barolo Wine Sauce and Roasted Chicken with Mushrooms, Garlic, Rosemary and White Wine. We ordered a selection of deserts all excellent. WIne either by the glass or bottle is reasonably priced. We all agreed the food, service was excellent.

From the time you arrive to the time you leave, you are treated like royalty,,Plus the owner, chef and bartender make you feel like you are at home.....Cheers to the Firenze by Night....or should I say Salute'

Fairly traditional for San Francisco, but excellent service and decent food. House style gnocchi was extremely tender, light and paired with a basil red sauce. I would describe it as eating fragrant buttery pasta clouds.

We were walk-ins on a busy Saturday night - tired tourists who had walked back from Fisherman's Wharf via the Embarcadero. A tour operator had handed us a list of about 10 of their favorite restaurants and we stumbled on it walking home. We were lucky to get one of the last available tables. The atmosphere was intimate but pleasant - the tables are close together which was fine. It was really nice to see crisp white linens on the tables. Both of us wanted to try pasta - my husband chose the papardelle toscana (rabbit) and thought it was good. I had one of their specials - squash ravioli, which was very good. Our waiter was very attentive (likely European - definitely not an American accent). The staff knew some of the patrons well which I always think is a sign that people like it enough to come back often. Good value and atmosphere - I would eat there again.

We recently had a Sunday night dinner at this restaurant and enjoyed the food as well as the very italian wait staff. Made us feel like we were back in Italy. The three of us enjoyed the linguine con vongole, Meat Lasagna, and Gnocchi.

We had the best Italian dinner I’ve ever!!! I had the eggplant Parmesan, melt in your mouth good. My husband had the filet of sole special and his was fabulous too We heard about this place after meeting one of the owners at the Top of the Mark lounge. Nadia gave us her card and we made reservations for the next night. Nadia was there to greet us when we arrived with a big hug. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. Her brother Paulo is the chef and he took care of us. Nadia helped us pick an amazing Cabernet Sauvignon The whole evening was relaxed and delicious!! Thank you Nadia and Paulo Next time we are in San Francisco we look forward to returning to Firenze by Night for another fabulous meal

To be honest three is a bit harsh, 3.5 would be more accurate. This is an atmospheric, lively Italian with old school food and service. We were a large group and all had nice, if a little pricey, food and good service. Personally I didn't think it was anything exceptional and the expensive desert tasted like it came out of the freezer but by the same token we had a good meal and an enjoyable evening.

Was very quiet. Have previously been and it was full. Getting a bit tired. The food is good but not spectacular. Service was good.

Hotel concierge made reservation, we arrived early and sat immediately and had excellent service. Food outstanding and atmosphere like small European Restuarant. Squid Ink Pasta seafood special was awesome and so was Ravioli dish. Fabio was awesome server. Thank you to all. A definite re-visit spot.

We ate our "farewell" meal to San Francisco at Firenze by Night on the way to the airport after the Sunday Matinee of "Beach blanket Babylon" . The restaurant is within easy walking distance of Club Fugazi where Beach Blanket Babylon takes place. We were the first patrons at 5 pm and by 5:30 the restaurant was packed on a Sunday night so reservations would be indicated. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING was great. I have never had such escargot appetizers. Yes, they were in garlic butter but also with some sort of fried garlic crispy niblets and capers (Capers, my love!) all blended together seamlessly. My husband had the specialty of the day--seafood canneloni--such soft delicate morsels with an explosion of flavor in every bite! They actually created a meal for me based on my desire for thick noodles with a creamy tomato sauce. Fabio, our waiter, just looked at me, and, with the experience of an ancient soothsayer, brought me exactly what I wanted, without my knowing what it was that I wanted. This sauce brought me back to my childhood in Philadelphia and delicious Italian soups my sister and I would have there. Positively Proustian. (and reasonably priced). The desert was a hazelnut crusted, chocolate sauced miracle. I cannot rave about this restaurant enough. My teen aged daughter is already planning a trip back to SFO. Main objective? Another meal and Firenze by Night.

This restaurant was recommended by a friend and it was excellent. Food, Bread, salad and service was excellent! Tartufo Dessert was outstanding, as well as biscotti. Try it if you love Italian food.

My partner and I really enjoyed our visit to Firenze By Night. The wait staff was amazing and the food was delicious. It gets crowded fast so I would highly recommend a reservation a couple of days in advance. If you want authentic Italian...this is your place!!

Such an amazing family owned restaurant. Worth every cent and staff are very lovely and attentive. We had the gnocchi and meat ravioli with bruschetta and tiramisu and tartufo for dessert. Can't wait to go back 😊

Our waiter was very nice, but restaurant proved to be average. Veal was tough, sauces not flavorful.

This was recommended by my concierge at my hotel nearby as a good Italian family owned restaurant. I enjoyed their special pasta that had clams in shells surrounding the noodles. The staff seemed very capable and very Italian and I had a nice glass of wine (Pinot Grigio) as well. A nice spot if you want some Italian in the area. The decor seemed fitting. Excellent tiramisu (Torta Florentina).

We ate at Firenze 20 years ago bc someone recommended that it was great traditional food with that real Italian family ambiance with the family service. And it was and still is. We have been back 4 times since in the past years and this past July 2016, it still delivers the same wonderful food with the wonderful people. and its not touristy. This time we had the Porterhouse steak with our pasta order of chicken spinach fettuccine and the steak was as good as one in a real steakhouse. The pasta delicious as usual. Can't beat this place. Should try the gnocchi. It's the best.

This was a recommendations amongst many others Italian restaurants. The service was very quick, not upmarket but good. My 9 year old daughter ordered the linguine vongole which was not to her taste (predictably) so we ordered another penne forne which was delicious. My wife had the Osso Bucco and I had the chefs special which was excellent. Overall the service was excellent, food great and ambience really great. My criticisms would be that that the tonne con faggiloi lacked any seasoning and the pomodoro and mozzarella was very under whelming. Skip the deserts!

This was recommended by our hotel concierge. What a great choice! The food was delicious - fresh and authentic and perfect. The service was excellent and everyone was friendly. The only thing holding me back from 5 stars was the noise level - very loud! We got stuck sitting behind someone who clearly doesn't eat out much and thought he had to shout to impress his friends. The whole place was loud, but that was not to take away from the food and service.

This restaurant certainly lives up to its reviews from being greeted at the front door by the owner Sergio, to leaving full and satisfied, the Fierenze was outstanding in every way. For San Fransisco it was a great find and the prices were very good, as we found a lot of restaurants very expensive and we live near London, I highly recommend everything, but the special hand made Gnocchi was exceptional as were the specials, go go go to this restaurant you will not be disappointed , thank you Firenze for our fabulous meals and great service you made both nights very special and to all the staff

I always enjoy dining here. The service is spot on and the food is not only good, but the portions are large.I dine out with two other couples and it is rare we all agree on the rating of a restaurant, but we all always agree on this restaurant.

My family and I came here for dinner after a long day in San Fransisco. The place has an interesting welcoming Italian atmosphere. I ordered an appetizer, and it was delicious! I We also received bread to dip in olive oil and vinegar. It was so tender and well-baked! After, I ordered Veal Parmesan. It was very good. It came warm and delicious with a side of vegetables and potatoes. The portions were perfect and everything was homemade.

Stopped by on a Sunday night w/o reservation party of 3 and were seated within 10 minuets . The specials really are . My husband had a fettuccine seafood that had a wonderful red sauce with so many flavors. The pasta was perfect. The veal dishes were good and there are several vegan options. The front room features a full bar. If there is a wait it is worth it to relax at the bar and have a pre dinner cocktail , wait staff was very professional will answer all questions and dishes happily tailored to special requests as all made fresh. A North Beach institution that deserves your visit if you are looking for great Italian in comfortable surroundings

The concierge at Marriott Fisherman's Wharf suggested this restaurant and we were pleased with both the selection of excellent food and wines. Large portions of our handmade pasta did not leave us room to enjoy dessert which was probably a good thing since it was a late night meal. Service and atmosphere were appreciated.

The pasta with pomodoro and basilic wasn't a real pasta, the basilic wasn't so fresh and wasn't basilic. The staff was normal. It wasn't the real italian food. Sorry for that, but as italian I didn't find the Tuscany savour.

With a History hosting locals, visitors and Celebrities, this cozy Italian restaurant is a surprise for a real Italian good meal. Owner is always around taking care of his guests, food variety is awesome and wine list makes it very hard to choose. Reservation its not required but recommended

Another Italian Restaurant owner recommended this locals place as his restaurant was closed on the day we were to be in San Francisco. It was the best recommendation! Great homemade pasta at a family owned restaurant - family from Lucca. Our waiter was very friendly and recommended a great Italian wine when we were unsure as to which one to order. We had the mussels and clams for an appetizer along with caprese. My daughter had the special black fettuccini with seafood and I had the homemade pappardelle pasta with meat sauce. You can choose any kind of pasta with any kind of sauce. The food and service was excellent and the prices were reasonable. I would recommend reservations as it was very busy and not too large of a restaurant. Lots of energy here and I will certainly return.

We enjoyed Firenze during our last visit to SF so we made a reservation for this trip. We are very pleased again. We were greeted warmly by Sergio the owner. Our table was ready at the reservation time. Service was efficient and friendly. My wife loved her veal piccata and my pasta with anchovies and garlic was a spicy delight. We'll be back next time we're in SF.

All of our meals were exceptionally good. They have won awards for their gnocchi, and I can see why. It was not dense like most gnocchi I've had - it melts in your mouth. I also had a chicken crepe dish that was delicious. The service was very good also.

Nice atmosphere, regular food. They hosted us very nicely on Valentine’s Day. The food was Italian, but regular. A nice pasta that reminds the one you cook at home.

Thank you, Nadia, for making our dinner as special as it was 24 years ago. Once you find something good, you never forget! The food, table, and sincere kindness is something we are talking about the day after. Cannot wait to come back in April 2023. So happy you and your brother are keeping the family legacy alive. I hope you had enough bread available for the rest of your guests! Grazie!

I have been to Firenze by Night on several occasions with family and friends and each time was so glad I went back. One time, while in SF on business, my colleagues and I decided to stop in without a reservation and the host recognized me, seated us (table of 6) right away and we had a magnificent time. The food is tremendous, the service friendly and personable and the prices quite reasonable. Try Firenze by Night, you will be so glad you did!

Cold bread portended the rest of the meal...just average and pricey! Great service and healthy portions (splittable), but food taste and quality left a bit to be desired.

Once again Trip Advisors steered us right! We made our trek to Firenze right here in North Beach. The wine selection is very good and we settled on a nice Chianti Classico. We ordered the Prosceitto and Melon which was a nice combination and a very cool appetizer on this humid evening. I ordered the papperadelli toscana and my wife the gnocchi. Every bit was perfect! The waiter was excellent the menu awesome and the ambience just like Italy. A great North Beach Italian night!

We came for dinner after Beach Blanket Babylon....just a short walk. I had the swordfish steak, which was excellent. My partner had the gnocchi, which apparently they are famous for. I noticed that four other people around us also had the gnocchi. My partner said they were as light as a cloud. Oyrwaiterwas Italian and very nice. We enjoyed ourselves.

Second time here with a nice Italian server, who took time to make our visit " just great ". The food was very much Italian with excellent taste. True home made taste, with nice surrounding. From outside, looks small and needs a little upgrading. Still highly recommend.

A friend and I made a last minute decision to grab dinner at Firenze by Night and we were glad we did! The atmosphere is small and quaint. Reservations are needed but we were lucky and got in. We had the angel hair pasta with shrimp and ravioli with meat sauce. Of the two, the angel hair pasta was excellent, with the ravioli just a bit behind. Our dessert was orange sorbet served inside an orange...excellent! Our bill was $85 that included a glass of wine, 2 entrees and sorbet. Well worth it! I'll be back!

Since coming back from my Italian vacation in November 2016, I've been on a personal Italian food pilgrimage in the SF Bay Area to find the restaurant or restaurants that will make my taste buds bow down in worship like they did when I ate in Italy. Firenze by Night was one of the first that did that. I had the eggplant parmigiana and after one bite, it was like I hadn't left Florence. Even though I live in the east bay, I WILL be making the trek to this restaurant when I want to experience authentic Italian food.

of course that is if you like real Italian Food, if you are a fan of Olive Garden or the other Bucca Di Beppo then this place is not for you, and once you are here order the Gnocchi, to die for, great bread and services as well

I am originally from S.F. and was staying at a great hotel on the Embarcadero and the front desk recommended this place to us. The food , the service , the people , the bar were all incredible. On the edge on North beach and chinatown it easy to get to and well worth it. The pricing is very reasonable for the quality of food and service you get . Try it .

I'm always a bit skeptical about eating Italian food in the USA, but here I didn't regret it for a minute. The restaurant is cozy and the food was delicious. I would come again. The price of the food is on the higher end.

Love at first bite! I've always been a huge fan of Gnocchi and the Gnocchi at Firenze by Night hit it out of the park! These little pillow of perfection weren't dense, they were light and had a delicate mouth feel, the accompanying marinara was fresh and perfectly seasoned., I enjoyed the Eggplant Parmesan for my main course, it was delicious as well. We enjoyed a heavenly slice of cheesecake for dessert and it was light and silky. We were a party of 40 plus and the service was consistent and friendly. The Chef is epicurean rockstar and knows his craft! We will most definitely be returning and we highly recommend!

If you like pasta you will love it❤️ The portions are big so your not going to leave hungry. I love there gnocchi and all there pasta are righteous & delicious. The service is fantastic! There’s something wrong with you if you finish your dinner and your still hungry! The owner & his son are always there and they will come by your table and make sure your happy with your choices! Cheers🥂

We walked in on a recommendation from a fellow bar patron on the other side of San Francisco so we hopped an Uber and went straight there. We were told we would have a five-ten minute wait at the bar as it was very busy but were seated by the window in less than ten minutes. They were kind enough to bill the drinks to our table so it was very easy. Our dedicated waiter was very attentive and thorough. We were not over serviced or neglected at any time. The mood is light but classy. We ordered starters which arrived in reasonable time and were absolutely delicious and perfectly proportioned. It was the perfect amount of time between starters and mains and the mains did not disappoint. Both courses were very authentic Italian which was nice. Our waiter impressed me greatly with his charm and attentiveness. We were not dressed for finer dining (maybe not quite "fine dining") as we were not planning on that style of dining but neither the maître d'hôtel, the bar tender nor waiter treated us any different to those more appropriately dressed for the occasion. My fiancé didn't opt for dessert but I did and it was sublime. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We had pasta and chicken. Well made food and good service. Very noisy so hard to talk within your own table.

Our hotel Concierge recommended this restaurant and we were looking forward to it very much. It turned out to be just ok. We had a reservation but still had to wait. Service was slow and cold. The food was good but lacked flavor which disappointed me because I expect Italian food to be bursting with flavor. All in all, it was a B.

Great neighborhood Italian restaurant. Food and service were both fantastic. The raviolis and the penne with ragu were both to die for. Was our first trip with local friends who had been there many times before. It won’t be our last. Can’t wait to go back to San Francisco again.

At the recommendation of some Bay Area locals my wife and I recently experienced Firenze by Night and we are SO GLAD WE DID! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was extremely comfortable and inviting. Nadia greeted us warmly and, although it was extremely busy, found a table for us very quickly. We had the good fortune to sit in Fausto's section. He helped guide us through the food menu as well as the wine list and EVERYTHING was delicious! Even Sergio, the owner, found the time during a very busy evening to spend QUALITY time visiting with us at our table. If you've ever had Sunday dinner in an Italian household and want to revisit that memory, do yourself a favor and visit Firenze by Night. You will for sure leave with a big giant smile on your face, just as we did! We WILL be back!

My wife and I were visiting San Francisco and stopped by the Wine Society, very nice place by the way. We were recommended to try Firenze By Night. We walked in and were treated like family from the start. We had good conversation, and the food wash FANTASTIC! I love when I find a family owned restaurant that exceeds my expectations and puts a big smile on my face. My wife had the cannelloni and I had the egg washed white fish with a, seemed like Marsala sauce, over the top. Do yourself a solid and check it out.

I'm giving this place two stars based on the service, which was pretty good, and the overall atmosphere, which was pleasant. The food, though -The penne with bolagnese was the worst I've ever had anywhere. I'm not sure what type of meat was in the sauce, as the half ounce of meat was totally overwhelmed with a topping of cheese. Overpriced and over hyped.

This was a return visit for friends to a neighbourhood restaurant with a 30 year history under one family owner, always good to see. The service was friendly and briskly efficient. We sampled the menu widely enough to test the kitchen so you can be assured about that. The wine list offered a wide selection at reasonable prices. If good, reliable Italian fare is your goal while in the Chinatown area, look no further.

Great service with fabulous Italian cooked meals. Our family really enjoyed it and did not break out budget!

Only open for dinner so we stopped in and were seated after a short wait. Lots of locals here which is a good sign. Authentic Italian with plenty of choices. Food was excellent. We had ravioli with cheese and spinach stuffing and capellini pamadora. The pasta melts in your mouth with a flavorful meat sauce with just the right amount of spice. Bread is served with meal too that is quite good. Seating is a little tight and be prepared to pay $20-$30 per entree. Salad or soup is another $8. Service was ok. Friendly but a not as attentive as I would expect. Seemed to spend more time with locals. If you are looking to splurge a little bit for great Italian. This is the place.

Very bad overpriced food that looked and tasted like just supermarket bought, taste was simply awful. Wine of $50 had no taste. Way to expensive for what it was.

A group of friends went to Firenze By Night prior to going to Beach Blanket Babylon. There were 8 of us and we were on a tight schedule. The service was excellent, the food superb (I had the petrale sole, which was the best of all the dishes we ordered). The staff made sure we got our food quickly so we would make it in tiem for the show. We all loved it! Not one bad meal among us. I strongly recommend it!

A spot for locals and visitors to enjoy great atmosphere, service and Italian cuisine., There are so many choices in this San Francisco neighborhood that a recommendation by our tour guide was very welcome. We arrived at 5:30 with no reservation and not looking our brightest after a nearly 2 hours walking tour of North Beach. We were promptly seated a a nice table (not next to the kitchen) and within seconds had water and an order for wine. There are some menu offerings that one doesn't commonly find, like the fabulous house-made papparadelle in rabbit sauce that I enjoyed. There is an extensive Italian and US wine list and a recommended, modestly priced Chianti that the waiter recommended was perfect for the dinner. Sadly, the ricotta cheese cake was sold out! Otherwise, perfect.

Firenze By Night is in the heart of North Beach (Columbus and Stockton)...a lively and diverse neighborhood (many young Silicon Valley tech people live there). The restaurant is inconspicuously located in the middle of the block. Mostly patronized by locals, the food and service are wonderful. Suggestions: try the snails (the Italian version) and sit in the bar area as it's quieter. And, desserts are awesome. Dinner for three with a $50 bottle of wine (and a martini) and tip was a bit over $200 (and we had a lot of food!).

I now understand why this restaurant gets so many high reviews on Google. This place is great! If you are looking for good food, good service, good prices, and a very pleasant atmosphere, Firenze by Night is the place to go. I came here with my niece on a Saturday night, and we truly had a lovely evening. It has a good selection of Italian dishes and seafood. I ordered the Petrale seafood special. It was delicious. I know I need to return to taste some of the many pasta dishes that are on their menu. The restaurant also gets one extra star for the clean, white tablecloth that was on the table. I notice detail, and I appreciate this refinement. I also noticed that many of the other restaurants in North Beach did not have tablecloths; they were not as refined and too touristy. As for suggestions: 1. Parking is difficult - you may want to take a taxi or Uber over to the restaurant. 2. They open at 5:00 pm - I suggest you get there early as the tables fill up very fast. 3. Try walking around the neighborhood (Little Italy/North Beach) after dinner. Find an Italian pastry shop or an Italian gelato shop.

My wife and I decided to try the Firenze following the good reviews, however now that we have been there, we cannot understand how it got the reviews. Although the place was only filled to 2/3 the staff was extremely rushed. They hurried us to a table where we had to squeeze ourself in while bumping into the next table (we are both petite). The waiter told us the specials so fast that is was close to impossible to follow, asked to repeat them he looked at us bewildered and left the table. After 2 minutes he returned and wanted to know what we will have. My wife and I both had pasta and in both cases it was overcook. Mine was with mussels and scallops and neither seemed to be fresh as advertised. My wife's ravioli tasted like they were frozen... As Europeans we travel Italy a lot and are at least once a year in Firenze and every chef from Firenze would be ashamed to cook like it is done here... When the waiter showed up asking if everything is OK he didn't even wait for our answer... He went straight and got the bill. Considering the low quality of the food the price was way too high.

This place had an Italian vibe that started wtih the murals on the walls. Our party had swordfish, ravioli, and clams linguinne. All food was of fine quality. There were plenty of waiters taking orders and servicing tables.

A friend told me this was the best Italian she's ever had! So we decided we'd give it a go when we came into town. The pasta was delicious AND homemade. I had a full order of rabbit tagliatelle while my husband had a half order. He also had braised lamb shank which was also fabulous. We arrived at for our reservation a few minutes early and sat at the bar. The bartender was friendly, as was Paolo, the manager. If you want good Italian in SanFran.....go!!

Was able to bring a group here and we had a wonderful time. Really great food, drinks and service. I had the Gnocchi Firenze, and it was hot, fresh, with excellent flavor. Prices are reasonable. The service was perfect for us. This is one of my must-go-to restaurants in San Francisco!

Nice atmosphere and decent wine list. Service the night we were there was extremely slow to the point of being comical. Food fair but nothing to bring you back.

Our group was so warmly accommodated by the staff, and the dinner was as delicious as it was convivial. Waiters recommended appetizers of focaccia (superb), bruschetta, caprese. The fettuccine with mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes was divine, as was linguine with anchovies. Cannoli were crispy with a rich ricotta filling. The evening was memorable for the attentive service and the traditional Italian dinner.
Wonderful Italian Food, Great Service
Fantastic Italian Restaurant in North Beach of San Francisco. Make reservations as this place is excellent and gets busy. Quality of food is fantastic. We had Italian sausage stuffed mushrooms and carpaccio as appetizers. The stuffed mushrooms were better of the two. For entree we had their famous gnocchi and veal scallopini all a romana, both great. Finished dinner with dessert, cappuccino, and a shot of grappa. Waiter was very friendly and responsive to us. Would go back here again with every visit to San Francisco.
