I was in San Antonio on business for a few days and ended up eating here 2x with my co-workers ! We had the giant 32oz specialty Margaritas a different flavor for each of us both nights. My favorite was the Peach margarita with peach ring candies in it. The other was the pink Moscato margarita. We sat at the bar both times (it was extremely too hot and humid for me on the patio). Bartenders were awesome and it was a fun atmosphere. Will definitely be back!

I am an avid foodie and was sorely disappointed by this meal. I will say the queso was pretty good, however, we didn’t have much of a chance to enjoy it before our meal was brought out. Seriously, we sat down, ordered queso and 2 waters, they brought it out within 1 minute and we ordered our meal and 2 drinks. Our meal and drinks were brought out at the same time roughly 2 minutes later. It was so odd. I wish I could say the pork street tacos made up for the oddly timed meal service, but they were pretty much tasteless. My husband and I barely ate any of them. Our waiter never asked if we enjoyed our food or if we needed anything. I told him the queso and sangria margarita were good, but our meals were bland and tasteless. He shrugged his shoulders and left the bill. I would highly recommend eating somewhere else on the riverwalk.

We love Mexican street food, and enjoyed tableside made guacamole and tamales. The only thing I would say against the service was we didn't get to finish the guacamole before our mains arrived.

This very popular restaurant gets busy at lunch and dinner time, and has inside tables as well as outside facing the river walk. The margaritas were quite large and delicious. The enchilada entree was generous and large enough to share. Service was good. Highly recommend for a casual, Tex-mex experience!

The table side guacamole was tasty. It was fun to see the birds walk by eating the food on the ground (we ate outside). It was not fun getting attacked by the bees that kept visiting our table and the one across from us. After waiting for service for over 10 minutes, I asked another server to please find our waiter.

A great place to stop along the river walk and have fajitas. We had both chicken and beef, and they were both good. Also, they have a huge assortment of margaritas, so we tried one and was not disappointed.

Their Mexican food was just right for everyone from the 3 Yr. old to the adults. Good service although it was July and very crowded. The staff was super friendly!

We stopped for lunch at Rita's on the River during our day on the River Walk. We were extremely warm due to the temperature outside, so the air conditioning was welcome. The food was good, but maybe a little pricey for what we got. The unfortunate thing was that we were seated right next to the restaurant's speakers. This made it difficult to have a conversation. We mentioned that to our waitress who just laughed. There were other tables available, but she didn't offer to move us (we didn't ask either). It was a good stop of lunch and we were able to order menu items that weren't huge.

Disgusting food. Not even the salad was fresh and they put rotten avocado in my meal. Absolutely bad and poor service as well

Joey was an excellent bartender!! Very nice and courteous!! Seemed to help everyone with any and everything.

This was not good Mexican at all. Very average. Our waitress was very good and attentive although I could tell she had lots of tables and very busy. She even had to do the table side guacamole herself. Margaritas were watered down Guacamole needed more avocados Chips tasted store bought Salsa pretty good Would definitely try somewhere else on the river.

This restaurant is perfectly located on the river walk with indoor and outdoor seating. Our food clearly sat for awhile before they brought it to us because my taco was completely soggy from sitting in my beans and my daughters’ taco was the same. Our rice was crusted over from sitting under a heat lamp. The service was just ok, but we really enjoyed the balloon man who came by and made the kids balloon animals!!

My wife and I ate here during a trip to San Antonio for the Stock show and Rodeo. The place was very crowded but the staff moved people through very efficiently. We were able to wait at the bar and the bartenders were very attentive. We got a table, ordered fajitas and shared a Texas size margarita. Our meal was good and the service was good. Good place to eat if you’re on the river walk.

Really enjoyed eating on the terrace watching all the people. The Margarita choices are many, not to mention they are very very good. Even the food is very very good

We sat down at one place and got up and left another because of lack of service. We sat down at Ritas and had excellent food and drinks within minutes. We will go back. Best chips and salsa I have had anywhere. Ritas was kind of loud and fast food ish in nature but still better than anywhere else on the river.

We met Chuck up above under the clock tower borrowing his pen and later had him as our server during lunch. OMG the peach daiquiri (or I may have been served a peach margarita) but whichever it was it was the most fabulous peach drink Ive ever had. I had the grande burro chimi style and that steak was the most tender steak Ive had at a restaurant. Chuck was a lot of fun and those chips!! I think I ate my weight, they are that good!! Great location and thanks for supporting our airmen!

We loved Rita's so much we ate here multiple times. They have great Mexican food. Fun atmosphere with mariachi's and fun photo opps.

The table side guacamole was not to best I’ve had but we ate it all!!! We got the southwest chicken salad and wished we had gotten the fajitas like the table beside us. Also, we never did get the beer in the margarita beverage but those are very popular.

My husband and I walked the river walk to Rita’s and were not disappointed. We had the fajitas, excellent seasoning, guacamole made table side...some of the best I have had and our margaritas were quite satisfying. We had our puppy with us so we sat on the patio, (a duck wandered through as well) one of the waitstaff brought him some water for us. Highly recommend!

First, the setting on the river is wonderful, the food and the margaritas are good. But on a Saturday night, the wait was unpleasant with nowhere to sit. When your table is ready, one of the hosts walks around yelling your name--not a great way to find and seat people who have been waiting up to an hour in the heat! When you search on google, there is a place that says "Join the waitlist": when you click, it says "C'mon in, there's no waiting. This apparently never changes, even when the wait over 45 minutes! (I checked after we were seated and there were many waiting after us!) They need to work on their waiting/ seating processes, but probably won't because people continue to put up with this nonsense.

Great location. Quite convenient while at the river walk. We just got Margaritas-to-go from their stall outside. One of the worst margarita I have ever had. Weird taste, more syrup than tequila. If you get tempted for a drink, go to a better restaurant and try it more formally.

Many reviews refer to this as a tourist trap, I'd guess any along the Riverwalk could be described the same. We went in for lunch, it was busy. Not inexpensive but the quantity of food was enormous and very tasty vegetables. All in all a very nice lunch in a good setting.

My group of 40 plus kicked off our conference last week with Margaritas and then dinner at Rita's on the River! Great drinks and great food!

I grabbed some takeout from Rita's last Friday. I ordered the guacamole and some fish tacos. The food came quickly and the service was efficient and friendly. But...by the time I got back to my hotel...probably less than 10 minutes away, the fish tacos were a mess and not very tasty. However, the sides were great and the guacamole was delicious. I really should have just ordered that and it would have been fine for dinner! I think if I had stayed and ate there the tacos would have been better.

Classic Mexican, on the riverwalk, very good typical dishes, Tacos and fajitas in particular, excellent Margaritas. Large and also suitable for groups, the setting is not exactly original... the prices seemed a little below average to me. friendly waiters, one of the few that are open until 11pm. Friendly service.

Service was so slow here! We sat and sat before a server even approached our table to the point that we almost were getting up to leave when finally someone came by. We ordered drinks and food immediately per the QR code on the table, no paper menus. Food service was extremely quick for 2 of our table of 4 - it was almost 15 minutes before the other 2 received their food. Having worked in food service this is my biggest pet peeve - no one wants to eat before the table is all served and yet no one wants cold food. The crazy part of this was all 4 of us actually loved our food. It took at least 10 minutes after being done eating to get our check - even though we could spot our server hanging out in the dining room area. Torn on this because while we would recommend in food quality it was definitely the worst food service we had in San Antonio.

We stopped here for a quick bite and beer while walking the Riverwalk. We ordered queso and guacamole. The queso was just okay and the guacamole was very bland and tasteless. But the beer was cold.

Recommend by a friend who is Hispanic and a chef. We were looking for authentic Mexican food. We had a combination plate with beef and chicken enchiladas, a beef taco, a beef chalupa. Served with refried beans and Spanish rice. Everything was very good and tasty. Nothing was overly spicy except the salsa which had a little kick.

Was in town for a week with my sister. We stopped in for a peach margarita, very good. Staff very friendly. Table side guacamole was good and fun to watch them make. Fun to watch the people on the River walk.

My wife and I went here two nights in a row just to have drinks and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. My life liked the sangrita. I had mecheladas both nights and they were awesome. In fact, doing this review is causing me to crave one.

Somewhat of a tourist spot, but they had some great beers on tap. Only had a few apps and they were good. Place is busy on the Riverwalk.

Watered-down margaritas and poor service. I see someone noted the problem with the margaritas in an earlier review, and apparently nothing is being done. Plus, I double-checked with the server on the price after she told me substitutions would be needed that night. (Some bottles for the bar did not arrive, yada yada yada.) She said it would be the same as the price listed in the menu. The check came with a higher amount than listed. When I asked for an explanation, she barely cared. "Oh, sorry," the server said, even though the tone indicated she was not.

Walking down the river walk I was getting hungry and I stopped in here. After moving from the outdoor bar (I was already too warm) I sat at the indoor bar, ordered chips and hot..... sour cream chicken enchiladas and a BIG RED MARGARITA! Staff was great, food and drink were fantastic, definitely recommend

Food was very good. A large margarita was $22. Mostly ice. Service was very good. And eating outside was fine due to an overhead structure

We live downtown and gave Rita's another shot last week. It is a good tourist location but the Mexican dishes do not live up to the standards we love in our favorite San Antonio locations.

Recommended! The views of the RiverWalk are relaxing. The food and service are both good. Our lunch came with a mariachi band! Bonus.

Rita's is a tourist Mexican restaurant on the San Antonio River Walk. They offer a pleasant respite if you can get a table Riverside. If not you're packed in the open air restaurant. Rita's offers giant expensive margaritas with your choice of beer/wine inserted. Not my idea of a margarita. The food was Ok but living in Texas we have the opportunity to have some great Mexican Food. Our server, Bianca, was pleasant and working very hard to keep up with the weekend crowd.

This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend, and it did not dissappoint. If you love mexican food, you should definately check this place out. The delicious food is enhanced by the pleasure of sitting along the amazing Riverwalk!

Sat at the bar and waited and waited for service. People leaving while waiting. But the price of beer was cheaper than most on the riverwalk.

Good location next to the river. Large place. Medium duty. Typical menu of any Mexican in Madrid. The food was fine, but I didn't think it was very original, rather from anywhere in the world. Guacamole is made on the table. High price for what it is.

The Food was amazing and the margaritas were outstanding •••The amount of food served will please any appetite and person•••you will get quality and qualities of food with great service.

The restaurant is located on the San Antonio River Walk. It has a gift shop attached to it (which we didn't look through). The server was very friendly and attentive. The decor was about what you would expect. The food was good; the prices seemed consisted with most other restaurants in the area. Overall a good experience.

Table side guacamole was excellent but what had us coming back was the Peachy margaritas. Very yummy.

Sat outside by the river while enjoying a delicious meal. Good chips and salsa. I had two crispy chicken tacos with rice and beans. My husband had chicken taco salad. Both were delicious. Waiter kept the drinks filled. Helped to make for a wonderful evening.

Chose to eat here due to the fabulous location on the river. Only Mexican restaurant I have ever been to that doesn’t have complementary chips and salsa, so ordered some. Received a tiny cup of watery salsa without (chips from bag) homemade chips. Our waiter needs some training on how to do their job correctly which I assume isn’t their fault. They didn’t know the menu or enter my order correctly. Then complained when I said it was wrong by blaming a “runner”. Take accountability and fix it instead of making excuses. I received my plate of food and it smelt terrible. I ate some of it, but have never been more disappointed in a Mexican meal in my life. I got the Red Pepper Enchiladas (beef). No one at my table enjoyed their meal.

No chips or salsa for our lunch visit Said they were out and truck hadn’t brought any yet Busy due to alamo bowl ?? So also couldn’t order queso or guacamole due to no chips What Mexican food Restuarant runs out of chips ? Management dropped the ball and left the waitress to deliver the message to customers Didn’t they know they would be busy around the holidays and alamo bowl? Fajitas were a very small portion and gave us saucers fo eat off of Chips and salsa delivered to customers after we finished our meal Waitress never offered to bring us any Very disappointed Won’t be back Tourist trap - very little food for the money and restaurant was not very clean

It is very difficult to pick a Mexican Resurant in San Antonio with no one to give recommendations. We took a chance and tried Ritas for dinner. The refried beans were so good I almost forgot what else I had. We had the table-side guacamole which was very good. I had the Sour Cream Chicken Enchilatas and my wife had the street tacos. Both were very good, but I would have traded the Enchiladas for more of their Refried Beans and Spanish Rice, it was that good!

We went here on our Riverealk day. Greeted well..seated quickly. Awesome atmosphere with great service and food!!

Great restaurant on the riverwalk in San Antonio. I went for happy hour and had a classic Marg for a drink and some delicious queso for food. Both were great.

We had great service, but the food and drinks were average. I’d recommend going somewhere else during your stay.

Good place and service near the typical river gringamexican food “ with good taste do not order the tortilla soup is not like the one in Mexico ... the dip cheese is delicious worse a little salty the soup of coriander and delicious ribs and cold beer

We chose Rita's primarily for the large menu, reasonable prices and location on the River Walk. The waitstaff was welcoming and well-trained in their jobs. I had a great margarita. We both enjoyed our lunch tremendously. The portions were good sized and delicious. Maybe the best Mexican food we had while we were in San Antonio. We'd definitely go back if we were in the area.

We went to Rita’s after trying the Iron Cactus which was closed for a private event. Service was great. Food was very good, but I recommend that you believe the server when she tells you that the green chicken enchiladas are very very hot. She isn’t kidding - I love spicy food and this was spiced to almost my limit.

We had the River Combination - Enchiladas, Taco, Chalupa and Guacamole. YUMMY!!!! If you leave here humgry it's your fault. Ice Cold Micheladas and Margarita's plus very good wait and bar staff. No wonder the place is always packed. Try it you will like it!

Really enjoyed dining here, the food was great and what perfect service we had from the wonderful Kallie. Every restaurant needs a Kallie!

My first time in San Antonio, first meal upon arriving. Was expecting amazing Southwestern food to be everywhere. This wasn’t it. The table side guacamole was too salty to eat, food was tourist trap grade all around, and the service was cold. Hope to find much better places to eat while I’m here.

Was just ok, the chicken on the taco was very dry the waitress brought some more red sauce which was helpful. 3 per cent added to bill for credit card is a bit steep as iv run a business for years I wouldn’t dream of doing that to my customers.

Very pet friendly which is a criteria for us. Packed as it was Fiesta weekend. We had a top of the line Reposado margarita and it was mostly water for $22. I have had better from street vendors for $5. The table side prepared guacamole was excellent. The fajitas at table next to us looked good and my rule of thumb in a Mexican restaurant is get the fajitas. However we were in the mood for Tex-Mex and got supposedly their best platter. We have had better American TV dinners. It had little flavor and was slathered with yellow cheap cheese. It is a happening place and great for people watching but otherwise a tourist trap.

Once you get past the initial sewer smell as you enter, the food is ok. Good Margaritas. I wanted to leave as soon as the smell hit me in the face, but we stayed anyways. Nothing special.

First off, Christopher, our server, was spot on perfect. Made suggestions, did everything in a timely manner, checked on us, and had a few laughs. I had the chicken enchiladas. Sauce had a little sweetness to it that I really enjoyed. My wife had the sour cream enchiladas which she enjoyed as well. Salsa has a nice little finishing kick to it. Nothing spectacular, but good enough to fill the tummy.

If I were to ever come back here I would just go to get a margarita or drink! The food was not good @ all. We got steak nachos and fajita steak... steak was weird and felt like Taco Bell steak! Gross. Not good. The drink was awesome tho!

Some of the best food in the area. Wonderful view. Pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff. Definitely will return.

This was our first visit to San Antonio, so of course we had to do the tourist thing and try Tex-Mex on the Riverwalk. We went on a busy Friday night, and we were told about a 25 minute wait. We wanted to stay out by the Riverwalk, but we were told they would only announce waiting parties in their back patio area. We sat back there and waited. We noticed other families or couples could go ahead and get drinks and chips from the bar, but since we weren't ordering drinks we decided to wait. The patio also had a really foul smell (like trash combined with sewage) which as a pregnant person, was relatively tough to endure. The wait was about as long as we were told, however. We had requested outdoor seating, so we could view the Riverwalk, which was nice. Considering how busy and packed they were, our waiter was really nice, attentive and showed up just the right amount. What we weren't expecting was an employee to show up to all the tables to take pictures of everyone. She says it is complimentary and for the restaurant, but beware, it is also a selling tactic. Before your meal is over, she will come back with pictures she took of your table to sell. She gives you one complimentary picture complete with a watermark, and you can purchase 1 for $15 and 2 for $20. We politely declined. The food was really good, not 5 star most amazing Tex-Mex on the planet, but still really good and tasty. I had nachos while my husband had the Street Tacos. He is quite the connesieur with street tacos, and his verdict was that it was really good, but he has had better before. We would not say it's mediocre and bland and only worth coming for the views-- the food was definitely better than average, and surely satisfying enough for the Riverwalk experience. We would definitely return when we visit San Antonio again. If you're local, I'm sure there is better, but if you're a visitor, give it a go!

The food was mediocre at best. Even though the waitress was friendly, the service was slow. I think the were way understaffed.

A fun restaurant right on the river walk. The food was very good. I had shrimp tacos and my wife had fajitas. It was very pleasant watching the people go by and the boats in the canal. Our server was friendly and helpful.

Have had better Mexican food in Chicago. I guess being on the River Walk is the pull to this restaurant.

It is a great location with good atmosphere. The Marachi Band was good. The service was slow. My steak quesadillas were good, but my friend’s chicken salad was horrible. The chicken was as tough as jerky and Very Salty! It could not be eaten. The service was so slow that there was no point in asking to have meal corrected. I would pick another Mexican restaurant in the area!

Good food, Rita's, and excellent service. A must if visiting the riverwalk. Well worth the trip when in San Antonio

It was Memorial Day weekend, so, we spent an evening down at the Riverwalk, and after surviving the mass of people on both sides, we stopped here for dinner. It took a while to get seated and for our drinks to come, but the server more than made up for it. The fajitas were excellent, which is good because I was starving, and didn't want to be disappointed after a long day. The drinks were large, the food portions were pretty good and I thought everything was reasonably priced. There's lots of options nearby, but Rita's was a good experience for us.

Rita's on the River is a staple for he riverwalk. My wife and I entertained a friend of mine, and she wanted Mexican food on the riverwalk. It used to be better. The queso appetizer was cold. The service was okay, as was the food, but the prices aren't worth the portion size. There isn't anything special about the menu. If you eat here, don't go expecting to be wowed.

Review Rita’s: Very busy - pets allowed in the outside patio area == On a Saturday, it was very busy and we had a wait to get our food. Our waitress was wonderful and hadn't forgotten us as she said she would check on it. It was a cold day, so not the best time to sit outside.

The very first place we stopped at when recently visiting San Antonio.I had White Sangria which was delicious and we had drinks here a few more times during our stay on the Riverwalk. The location is great! The atmosphere is very fun! They also have a small patio area in the back which has some small tables and benches and fun photo opportunities. The servers were friendly here. I recommend checking this place out!

Not much to be said about Rita’s. It’s loud, crowded and serves typical Mexican fare. The food and service are average - not bad but not great either. Serous perfunctory and food is adequate. Frankly if you’re a decent cook you can. And it better yourself.

Overpriced on the river with so so service. We did t find anything special or unique but it was very busy. Prob people watching was the best thing offered during our afternoon stop.

I got an order for street tacos to go from the bar. The service was fast and the food was delicious. I wish i had time to sit and enjoy a margarita but was meeting friends elsewhere. I will definitely come back the next time I visit San Antonio.

I did not want to visit this restaurant but the group I was with wanted to as they said it had the best margaritas around town. We ordered a pitcher of the original margarita on the rocks.....worst margarita I have ever had bland and tasted artificial. I had the beef enchiladas, again nothing special no different then what I can get at the cheap Mexican place @ Home. Overall I would never pick to stop here, not great food, not great prices, just another Riverwalk Tourist Trap

The enchiladas and fajitas were delicious our waiter "sorry I didn't remember his name" was great very attentive to us and All of his tables. Will definitely be dining with them again.

This place has great service and excellent Margarita's. Big ones little ones and all sorts of flavors. Sit outside and watch the boats and people go by while you enjoy the view. Kim or Ernest are exceptional. Customer first attitude and so helpful about the area as well. You will be amazed by their smiles and service. Wally the bartender could learn from them. I will definitely go back and we did twice this trip. Great people.

We stopped in one evening, while walking in the Riverwalk, for a beer and an appetizer. We ordered the Jalapeño bacon corn dip! Yum! Cheesy mix of cream cheese, shredded cheese, corn, bacon, jalapeños, ect served with tortilla chips. Service was friendly, the wait for food a bit slow (but it was very busy, so we were fine), the beer cold, and dip delicious!

We were visiting San Antonio with our poodle and needed a restaurant on the river that would accept pets and boy did we score. The food was exceptional, the service great, and the atmosphere electric. Try this place for Mexican food!

Love this place! In my opinion the best Mexican place on the Riverwalk plus the atmosphere is great. We ordered the steak Fajitas for two, strawberry margarita and longhorn margarita. The fajitas are big portions and comes with multiple types of bell peppers. You also each get a big portion each of beans, rice, toppings, and guac(at no extra charge!). My only complaint is they give you two tortillas each. We each ate four. Joshua was a fantastic server. Very attentive and super nice.

This is the second time my husband and I have been to Rita’s. We went a year ago and sadly had similar experiences. This trip we had our adult sons with us. Service was good and fast. Our waiter was very good. The first issue we had was the charge for chips and salsa. We are from Houston and have eaten at tons of Mexican and Tex Mex restaurants. Never have we been charged for chips and salsa! Additionally, it was served in the smallest bowls we have ever seen for chips! My husband didn’t mind paying for them, but he felt the salsa was too spicy so he added on queso. The queso was good, but we aren’t entirely sure how we were charged for all of it be cause the bill was on a handheld which made it hard for him to read. Meanwhile, I remembered not being impressed with the shrimp tacos I had a year ago so I ordered the enchiladas as did my husband. They were fine. Nothing special. My sons had fajitas and street tacos and they said they were good. The bill seemed very high for Mexican with only one alcoholic drink. It just didn’t impress us overall on either visit and was overpriced. Next trip we will find a different place for Mexican.

Was in the mood for Mexican Cuisine while visiting Riverwalk. Great choice to go to Rita’s. Great selection, food prepared perfectly, delicious! Several margaritas to choose from. Texas Size is the way to go. Loved Rita’s!

had to wait a little while to be seated but was expected since it was spring break but was worth the wait. guacamole made right at the table for us and the meals were very tasty.

Our Uber driver recommended this place but I cannot understand why. I will say that the table side guacamole was fantastic but that was it. Place was crowded and filthy. The table next to us had the mariachi band there for about 30-40 minutes, it was fun at first but then became annoying because it was too loud to talk. Several people asked to be moved. The food lacked flavor... my cheese enchiladas were so cold the cheese was set up and hard. The taco has no taste at all. The service was slow and not very friendly. Would not recommend or go back.

Stopped in for people watching along the Riverwalk and had a Margarita while taking a break. The outside sitting area was fantastic. The Margarita was a mix with little tequila. Had to order an extra shot of tequila to get the taste just right.

Our server Anthony took such great care of our group. His recommendations added to our meal and drinks being enjoyable and great. Thank you, Anthony.

We had a group of 7. It seemed like it would be a fun place for dinner, but we got seated inside and it’s not quite the same vibe. We were told we’d at least be by the window and we got stuck in a corner near a service area. Service was not the best and it was extremely loud inside. The food was a bit pricey for the portions and quality. No free chips and salsa. My shrimp tacos ended up being pretty tasty (the corn tortilla was the best part) and my husbands queso was good. Overall, probably won’t be returning here as there are much better Tex Mex options around.

I asked the server for a local beer and she recommended Corona. She was clueless. The tortilla soup was too sour ( too many Tomatoes) and the shrimp cocktail had more avocados than Shrimp. Go somewhere else!

We stopped at Rita’s on the River after visiting the Alamo. We sat outside but unfortunately it was breezy and we were right under a tree so debris kept falling on us as well as our food lol. With that aside, the food was delicious and we enjoyed watching the people while we ate!

I was in town for business and went to Rita's twice. Their margaritas are definitely worth a visit. I also enjoyed the fish tacos. The table side guac wasn't quite worth the price and had a LOT of onion.

We chose Rita's because we were recommended it by a few people on Trip Advisor. We arrived at Riverwalk a little too early for dinner so we had a walk and a drink somewhere else and then went to Rita's at 8pm. Please note, their advertised closing time on a Sunday is 10pm. We were asked to wait 10 mins for an outdoor table to be ready before we could sit so it was around 8:10pm by the time we sat down. We ordered margaritas as this is supposed to be their speciality and they were way too sweet - not what we expected at all. Qhen the food came, again, all the dishes were very disappointing, just average. And the worst of all was they started stacking the tables and chairs halfway through our dinner. We ignored it until they came and actually tried to take our salt & pepper shakers - while we were still eating! I must have looked shocked as the guy said "oh you still need them? No problem!"??? Once I finished my food, I took my son to the loo to wash his hands and when I came back, my husband said the waiter took away what was left of my margarita saying "sorry, we are closed now" at 9:16pm!!! The people who were sat at the table next to us (who arrived about 15 mins after us) actually argued with the waiter to keep their drinks which were still pretty full. We are very disappointed with both the food / drink quality and the service and I think it is very safe to say that we will not be returning, or recommending this place to anyone!

We ate dinner at Rita's on the River one evening. I had a peach margarita that was fabulous. You can order the smaller size margarita so,don’t be intimidated by the huge one they show on the menu. We had guacamole that was made at our table. Fabulous! The chips they serve are very thin, crispy and delicious. We shared an order of steak fajitas and it was plenty for two of us. A few of the pieces of steak were a bit tough but most of them were tender. It was fun to sit outside by the river while dining.

Looking for a quick lunch and someone suggested Rita’s. It took a while to get seated, not really sure why because the table that we sat at had been empty for 15-20 minutes 🤷♂️ Once we got seated we got waited on in a timely manner. We just shared a couple of appetizers: Nachos with chicken, and melted cheese, & a quesadilla. The salsa has quite a bite to it. The guacamole was excellent.

Rita’s offer nothing but delicious food, a festive atmosphere and good service. Will certainly be visiting again during our next stay in San Antonio.

The margaritas were great and the quesadillas I had were very filling! My husband also enjoyed the fajitas !

Took our son after graduation at Lackland AFB to Ritas on the riverwalk, food and servce were great, our server hand made a delicious guacomole dip right at the table for us, food was pentiful and tasty, margaritas were very good. Nice place well worth it!

Stopped by for drinks and an appetizer. The queso with beef was decent and chips were meh. Menu seemed a bit pricy for the options but probably due to location on River Walk.

Nice little place on the river walk. They have amazing margaritas, all kinds to choose from, super spicy salsa, and authentic street tacos. I had the beef and pork. Incredible! Also, great service!!

Some locals I met on the river boat recommended Rita's. I told the waiter I was following a keto diet. He was familiar with it and made fantastic recommendations from the cocktail to the meal. He instructed the kitchen how to alter the food for me. They did a great job. The surrounding area was very bustling along the Riverwalk.

The atmosphere & service here are awesome, unfortunately the food was just ok. I wanted it to be great, but it was bland all around our table with each person’s meal.

Had dinner at Rita's our first night in San Antonio. My partner had two chicken enchiladas and I had two beef enchiladas. The best part of the meal were the longhorn margaritas. The food was okay, but nothing special. Portions were adequate though the prices seemed somewhat high, but we were on the Riverwalk Walk so that explains the cost. No real complaints. We got average Mexican food and paid for the view.

Dined whilst visiting San Antonio & staying nearby the riverwalk. Shared Rita's taco plate of 3 tacos with chicken & I also had a ginger beer. Hubby enjoyed the local giant margarita/ beer drink. Overall average food/taste. Service friendly.

Good food with several options to choose from. Great service, everyone was very friendly. Kid friendly with a kids menu, even had someone walking around and making balloon animals for kids. Fun atmosphere with a pretty view is the river.

We stopped along the riverwalk and had some margaritas at this restaurant. It is a very nice location to sit and rest from the afternoon sun and people watch. The drinks were decent but on the pricier side. We didn't eat food but had some chips and salsa. The restaurant was quite busy. One of the staff brought out the wrong drink for my husband and instead of giving everyone their drinks he only gave one person a drink, realized one was wrong, then took all of the rest of the drinks back to the bar and never brought them back. Finally our waitress came by and saw only one person had a drink so she went and got the same round of drinks and brought them out, one of which was still wrong but she disappeared quickly. We had to flag her back down to tell her my husband still didnt have the right drink. Finally she brought the right one. Later when we got the check we were chatged for an extra drink even though he didn't drink the first one and didnt order it and thet took it back. The waitress fixed it quickly. She was very pleasant.

Crowded, large restaurant on the Riverwalk. I was looking for Mexican food, and this had a nice menu selection. Ordered mixed fajitas- chicken and beef. Beef was tough and grisley , the chicken was odd tasting and not flavorful. Amount served was smaller than most places I go to. Refried beans tasted like smoke. Had a prickly pear margarita, was good. Touristy place, I would recommend finding someplace else if you want good mexican food. Mine upset my stomach all night. Server was not attentive either, I was ready to pay my bill, she had taken my plate, and I had to ask her to bring my bill. Then I was sitting there with a $50 in my hand, she tossed it on the table and said "whenever you are ready" and started to walk off. I had to catch her to pay my bill-- I'd waited probably 10 minutes already wanting to leave, by myself. Will not eat here again.

Typical Tex-Mex food. It was our first stop after checkin in to our hotel starving. The fajitas were very good and so was the table side guacamole- it was the spiciest we had while in San Antonio. They know what spicy means. We returned another evening for margaritas. It's always busy and the servers are running around in many directions. Need more staff to be attentive. Worth checking out though even for just guacamole and margaritas.

Food was really excellent and they have good drinks as well, at least mocktails work. Service was nice, don’t order all at once, start with the drinks. Otherwise the food might arrive before you have any drinks.

We sat by the river and enjoyed the view. We ordered margaritas, I had the El Jefe, and hubby hada Rita’s. Honestly we could not tell it had any tequila in the drink. We had to order a shot of tequila to put in the drink. That made the drinks cost $18 and $19 each. We hung around and watched the table next to us get their food. The dishes looked pretty awful. So we debated about what to do, as we weren’t really that hungry after our wonderful lunch earlier in the day. So we ordered a chicken quesadilla. It was fine, thank goodness. The chicps were quite stiff, and the salsa would have been good if not so watery. But really, I would not spend my money here when there are better options.

This resturant is our favorite on the Riverwalk. We went there 4 times during our 10 day stay. We had server Mike 3 of the 4 times. He is great and so personable. We highly recommend checking out this resturant and asking for Mike.

Ate there on a busy Friday lunch, wait was about 30 minutes which was fine as they texted us when a table was ready. Service was fine and fast. Three of us all with different meals, which were again fine but unremarkable. Our experience is that places like this tend to lean on a more generic taste, not great or awful. Not a lot of spice on anything and overall pretty bland. We asked for hot sauce and was told that Tabasco was all they had, which seemed odd. Anyway if your goal is to just eat something while sitting on the river walk, this checks that block. If you want good to great Tex mex, there are better options.

‘Ello chaps! Rita’s is a Mexican restaurant right in the heart of San Antonio’s Riverwalk district. While they have a large variety of beers and Mexican cuisine offerings.... go straight for the tacos. Best damn tacos I’ve ever had, and I’ve had my share of tacos. Here’s why. The beef has a perfect level of seasoning taste, but the taco shell itself is everything. It keeps its crispness for the duration of eating the taco. When you bite it doesn’t fall into big pieces. Hit this spot two days in a row. Overall I give Rita’s five stars out of five.

I had the sour cream enchiladas and the peachy margarita. Warning: margaritas are HUGE, big enough to share!

It was a busy Friday night and it took about 90 minutes to get our food. The cheese queso we ordered was runny and had the consistency of water. The waiters excuse was he has multiple tables and was busy. We arrived at 7 and received our food about 9:30. The manager has nothing to see other than it was busy. If you have a lot of time to waste go here but if you want to enjoy Sna Antonio find another spot to eat. The bad part about the wait is that the food was mediocre. The shrimp fajitas were $24 and I only received 5 shrimp and they were normal sized.

We stopped in at Rita’s while walking around River Walk. It is pet friendly on the patio. They have a full bar with several specialty margaritas offered and Tex/Mex menu. We just had a couple of drinks the the Queso a La Riverwalk. Drinks and food were good.

The food and drinks were very good. The price is as expected for the location. The regular tex-mex food was surprisingly very good. The chips were very light and crispy, and the salsa really good. The pulled pork street tacos were very tasty as well. The jalapeno margarita was very good with lots of fresh jalapeno slices.

In the heart of the Riverwalk, we discovered Rita’s. They have the best margaritas- and we sampled many up and down the Riverwalk. Their menu satisfied everyone’s tastes. We were at a table right on the water and the service was wonderful. Prices are very affordable and they can handle big groups. Can’t wait to go back

We enjoyed eating out by the River Walk. The food was very good! The service was great!! We got Rita’s beef nachos and street pork tacos. Both were great’

Told wait for table was 30 minutes it was actually 1 hour and 10 minutes. After getting a table another 15 minutes for waitress to come to our table. One order taken it was quick and correct. Waitress was good. Food was mediocre will not return. Sat is at a table half in rain half not.

The food here is not great but not awful. The chips seemed bagged and not fresh. The service was a good and friendly.

We dropped in to have a “light late lunch” as we were planning on a nice dinner later that night and wanted to be hungry enough to enjoy it. We got the riverwalk queso and an order of pork street tacos to share. The riverwalk queso was huge- and delicious! We ended up having to box up half the tacos to take back with us because we got so full. Went back a couple days later to get some more riverwalk queso before we left San Antonio.

We stopped by on Christmas Eve for Margaritas and Nachos. Kallie served us and took the time to make small talk with us and get to know us. She really made us feel at home as tourists on the river walk and made our memories of Christmas Eve even nicer. The food and drinks were excellent as well. We will be back.

There were 3 of us dining. Just decided to do a random walk on the river, and we came across this joint. Not a bad spot, I would definitely recommend this place. Food is reasonably priced for a tourist locality. I had the Enchiladas Verdes (4 jalapeno spice), my wife had the four street tacos meal, and my son had the regular enchilada dinner with red sauce. The Enchilada Verdes de pollo were a good Spicey dish, but I felt it was a bit tart, maybe from the tomatillos they used, or could be too much vinegar. The tacos tasted like they used pulled pork. Know I love bbq, but in a street taco style, I really didn't care for it. I just felt it didn't work for me. My son said the beef red sauce Enchiladas were great. We also had the sangria Rita's and a frozen margarita that were good. The basic Rita's were at a better price if you want to get your drink on. They have about 7 different traditional Rita's among other type cocktails costing from $7-$27. They all look good and worth a try if you want to spend a little more dollar on yo drink. Have fun and enjoy, atmosphere was in point.

Somehow the staff manages to be helpful, polite and efficient despite the bustling vibe of the restaurant. The beef taco salad is excellent and the lime vinaigrette the best ever. A fun lunch time stop on the River Walk.

Visited San Antonio and decided to eat at Rita’s on the River. We were waited on quickly and the fish tacos were delicious. We enjoyed a table by the river and had a wonderful evening at Rita’s on the River.

Second time in San Antonio and this place is a must! Great food, great staff, great views! Mexican food at it's best. There is also a mariachi band to play for you if you wish. Very Authentic atmosphere!

Really enjoyed our meal here. Rec the pork tacos and the green enchiladas [as long as you don't mind a little spiciness. Draft beer selection is on the light side, as in no deal beer. Would definitely go here again

Street Pork Tacos - WOW!, 3 corn tacos, full of meat and other goodies, tasty and sloppy! Wife had Beef Fajitas, she loved them. Mine $13, hers $23, I thought her a bit too pricey. Drinks around $9, total with tax before tip $60 for 2. We ate inside, it was too hot outside to sit by rivers edge. Lester took great care of us, was very complimentary to the whole table, made sure we were all happy with what we got. Thanks Lester.

I dine here each time I visit San Antonio, and have never been disappointed. To spite being busy, we were able to sit outside for lunch. Our server Lester was the best. We dined on tableside guacamole, made by Lester, and enjoyed a southwest chicken salad that my husband and I could share (large portion) We also enjoyed the El Jefe Pineapple Margarita - give it a try!

Was at the River Walk for the first time, saw an open table 2 feet from the water and we took it. Had a terrific server named Kim. Had a great lunch with drinks. Great price, Kim was great and watching the boats go by was a great experience. I recommend it

The food was delicious and the prices reasonable. Lots of fun people watching on the Riverwalk. Try the Chamoy margarita for a delicious treat!!

We want to go to Rita's on the river whenever we visit San Antonio and know our family who live in the area love it, too. If I could just have their tortilla soup recipe, it would be perfect. If the weather is not to your liking outside on the walkway, you may also enjoy sitting inside. The wait staff is sure to make your experience a happy one ! We love the Margaritas on the rocks and sometimes share pitchers. The food is always delicious. We will always enjoy returning to Rita's.

On a 2 day stop over. It is a busy time during the Fiesta but no excuse! Food was cold unappetising and presentation was dreadful. Hard to get fajitas wrong but they managed to achieve it. Server did his best to look after us but he has a poor product to work with.

Really good Margaritas, the queso is phenomenal. The restaurant offers new airforce grads a $20 coupon. Our server was great at recommending menu items. Overall a great introduction to the river walk.

It is a very busy restaurant, so don’t expect the wait staff to be super attentive. The food was good and we saw that they had massive margaritas that looked delicious. Would eat here again.

I was looking for basic food and drinks. Rita's is on the Riverwalk. Very picturesque with seating outside or air-conditioned inside.

There are a lot of restaurant choices on the Riverwalk. We randomly picked Rita's on the River for lunch...great choice! Our server, Kim, was wonderful...very friendly and attentive. She prepared an excellent tableside guacamole for us and we ordered some street pork tacos which were also delicious. The Margaritas are quite good also!

Terrible service, sub-par food. Cocktails are sugary and weak. Chips were broken from the bottom of a store bought bag. Service was terrible. Food tasted salty and processed. Don’t let the colorful atmosphere suck you in- there are plenty of other options that can’t be worse than this place!

We ordered nachos and margaritas. Margaritas were tasty, nachos were average. It is a tourist trap like most of the Riverwalk establishments, but if you know that going in....

Was told bar was full service so was going to eat and have a margarita. Sat at the bar over 10 minutes. Tried in vain to get the attention of the bartenders. Would not even make eye contact. The glasses from the previous customers were never cleared. I saw one drink served to bar customers the entire time I sat there. Finally left without being served.

We come here all the time. Anytinecanyone visit, I recommend this place. The grandbabies visited and we were seated and simply asked for queso and chips...30minutes later still no queso and chips..talked to the hostess...1 hour later, still no queso and chips...1.5 hours later, still no queso and chips so we left...I get being busy...it was nig tha t.f busy..its 1:22 on Satirday 31 August....so disappointed.

My wife and I try to go to Rita’s every time we go to San Antonio. The fajitas are amazing and so is the chili con queso! And...it looks out to the River Walk. A little pricey but always busy, so expect a little wait, but it is well worth it!

My husband and I went here twice on a recent trip to San Antonio and it was the best food we had the entire trip. Everything was fresh and good portions, the queso was delicious. The waitstaff were very friendly and service was good. I would definitely recommend!

Visited on a very crowded spring break weekend--however, we got a table with minimum wait (it was 2:15 pm though). Ordered the Jalapeno Bacon Corn Dip and it was super-delicious. Even better than the fajitas which we certainly tender. We did like the chicken a bit better than the steak fajitas which for me is unusual.

Walking past and somewhat hungry stopped and gave Rita’s a try. Soft Tacos, combo fajitas chicken and vegetables, child quesadillas with 2 Rita’s cups, not to bad good flavor, pleasant surroundings, good waiter attentive. Everything was good until I received the 101.00 bill. I guess I wasn’t paying attention when we ordered. No issues added 20 for the tip and headed home. Not sure if I’ll stop there next time we’re in San Antonio.

9/17/2022 - Evening Visiting from Georgetown,Tx for a weekend get away. Splash Margarita, a bit pricey, but NOT watered down or weak. (25.00). Small draft beer (7.50). Food : we split an order of nachos and enjoyed table side Guacamole! All was well prepared. People watching a Blast. Service : Our server was Anthony who has a wonderful personality. He was a lot of fun and very attentive. A Great Server really helps make the overall experience!! The manger that evening was a tall delightful person. She was also manning the bar. I like to see a working manager, to me it represents TEAM Work !!

Great location and drinks and food, on the patio there is no music at all it makes it awkward. The service is good but slow it looks like they could use more help

I cannot speak to the food menu, as we only enjoyed their masterfully made margaritas. If there's a better Rita on the River Walk, I'd like to know where it is. Honestly, the only place whose Ritas are equal are at a place whose name includes Margarita. They have an interesting inside place to dine and drink, but on a summer evening it is nice to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air, the sounds of the night, and those succulent Ritas. Get a tee shirt while there. Their Ritas truly will make you forget the Alamo (and other things too if you have too many).

Mexican place with direct access from the Riverwalk. They made us wait about ten minutes with a request to send a text message when the table was ready, even though there were clearly free tables (it's a fairly common practice in several restaurants, even if I don't really understand the point). The service was fast and friendly. We liked the dishes. Spectacular Margarita but with little Tequila. Overall a good experience, even if the restaurant is a bit touristy.

Great food and friendly staff. The location is right on the river and has indoor and outdoor seating, At lunchtime we were seated immediately. We ordered queso, ribs, enchiladas, and fajitas, all were excellent. Jazzy, our server, was kind and was able to make suggestions off the menu. The queso with chicken and beef was delicious. The only thing we didn't like was the noise level. The music and talking was very loud so it was hard to talk to each other. We would definitely recommend and plan to return.

My sister and I had an incredible meal at Rita's. The waiter, Alejandro, could not have been more helpful and cordial, and indeed, his suggestions were amazing. We loved the food, the outside seating and the atmosphere all made for great memories. I highly recommend Rita's on the River!

3 couples together and they quickly seated us at a nice table outside. Waiter was great and hustled everything out quickly. Was great about splitting the checks up too. Food was very good.

Food was good, atmosphere was good. They were extremely busy due to a bowl game that weekend. I would have given it a higher rating but, we were 3/4 done eating and they sat a couple next to us, with two dogs. My wife is allergic to most dogs. We had to finish sooner than we wanted and get out. We were seated outside but it didn’t matter. We both like dogs, but if you are going to seat people with dogs, it would only be fair to ask the patrons around if they would mind.

Went to Rita's while there experienced wonderful service from there was recommended to us Jalisaco, I must say though that Alexa was very prompt, professional and entertaining for my husband and I. Great conversation & food with a smile always beaming from her face. Love the atmosphere but Alexa made it even more special for our first visit to San Antonio. Good going hiring her.....she's a keeper fosho!

The food was good. The steak for the fajitas is great. My server was very attentive and friendly. Loved the Margarita.

I loved all the food and especially the quesadillas. The server was amazing, her name is Codi. You should really give her a raise! Her guacamole was incredible, it’s the best I’ve had:)

Traveling with our dog requires research for restaurants that are dog friendly. Thusly, we decided to try Rita's not only for this but for their large selection of margaritas. The food was tasty, the staff friendly, and there were many comfortable dogs on the patio. We had a great river walk view and I tried the Big Red margarita; exceptional!

Rita's on the River definitely is the place to take out of town guests. I hosted a small reunion of friends and we dined here for our welcome dinner. We sat outside on the patio and my friends enjoyed watching the barges on the river as we feasted. Our server, Anthony (I hope I remember his name correctly) was amazing. Our food was delicious as were the drinks. We all shared the Riverwalk queso which was plenty as an appetizer for our group of 11. Thank you Rita's for taking care of us and for treating my out of town guests like family!

This bar restaurant is along the riverwalk and is a good place for drinks (we did not try the foid). There is a wide range of margaritas and other southwestern drinks and beer. Nice atmosphere, good service. Prices a little high, but average for the tourist area

We stopped here for a quick dinner - it seemed very popular. the food and drinks were OK, portions were large.

I was looking forward to an amazing margarita and this has a great location on the Riverwalk but, it was not a very good drink. My husband actually had beer. The price was high and it was not at all fresh.

The service was really bad. The restaurant was not very busy, but it appeared that there were very few staff members there. We waited in line quite a while before a server came to take our order and then it took a long time for food to come. I ordered a margarita, which was pretty good and some tacos. When my meal finally arrived, it was only luke warm. It was actually good, but would have been better if it was hot. We asked our waitress for water and after some time, she brought us a pitcher, but never any glasses. We had to wait again to pay our bill. It’s unfortunate, as I think this place could be very good, but they need to make some improvements.

On our visit to San Antonio we were walking the River Walk around dinner time. The place looked lively enough, so we decided to have dinner here. The margaritas were just ok and the food was mediocre. I've had better food at cheap Mexican restaurants at home. The server was good but the food was not worth what we paid. This was a tourist trap on the River Walk, and yet you see the River Walk, but for good food, there are better places in San Antonio.

We met a couple that loved it. Our Margarita was very good and so was the sour cream burrito. Street tacos nothing good to say except the beans on the side were good.
Not impressed with their food. Service was fine.
We were looking for some good Mexican food. We picked the wrong place. This we would say was one of the worst Mexican food we have ever eaten. The service was good and it had nice out door seating.
