Dinner at River Deli

By Ian M |

My wife an I spent a week in Brooklyn Heights and went to the River Deli twice and had excellent meals both time - authentic Italian with a great choice of wines. Loved this place.

Great food and service

By Hilde C |

We had dinner there. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant, the bartender doing a great job while making a joke, the staff friendly. The glass of wine, slightly tasting cork, immediately replaced. A pasta and a vegetarian dish, both simple dishes but of high quality. The price, being the price for Brooklyn, high, but not as high as Manhattan. Definitely a place to return to.

Poor service

By Funkjazz |

Overall the food was nice but the service was poor and the staff were surly. I ordered a burger, which was supposed to come with salad and chips. When it arrived only with salad, I mentioned to two of the waiters that it was missing the chips, but neither bothered to bring them or explain why they were missing.

Very nice

By Robin B |

Very nice decoration und super tasty food. We had the bruschetta and the lasagna. Both very fresh and just perfect

Sardinian Neighborhood Casual

By AJ T |

River Deli is not a deli, but a quaint, charming corner restaurant in a neighborhood just off the Brooklyn waterfront that is composed of brownstones and cobble streets. The food is overall good. We had fried calamari, strip steak served with steamed spinach and roasted potatoes, and tiramisu (delicious!) for dessert. The wines are from Sicily, Malta and Veneto region. Service is very accommodating. It’s relaxed atmosphere makes it a great local go-to place.

Charming cafe in a gorgeous area!

By jnau |

After visiting the Adam Yauch park we wandered around for something to eat. Stumbled across this gem on a beautiful street and fell in love. Between checkered floors, fresh flowers on the table and pillows along a cushion window seat, I was instantly charmed and decided to write my next novel around the location. The food and drinks were great, the staff super friendly. Anyone traveling to NYC should take a day to explore this neighborhood and grab a bite to eat from the River Deli.

Lasagne bravissimo

By Elmar W |

Best lasagne ever! Nice place to relax. No credit cards but ATM. The espresso was hot as hell and sweet as an angel. Really love this place.

Tipica gentilezza , stile e sapori italiani

By La Villa del Ma... T |

Been in Brooklyn for a business trip , i had the chance to dine at River Deli . What a surprise !!!! Andrea , the owner , and the bar tender were super professional ! Every customer is treated as the very first one : Kindness , professionalism , food freshness , wine selection are their goals ; and they strike !!!! River Deli is one of those rare places where persons , food and atmosphere create a fantastic combination .....a combination that goes beyond what you see but is more about what you feel . Is Malloreddus and Trofie alla Carlofortina are unbeatable !!! Thank you Andrea for making me feel at home . Hope to be back soon ......very soon . Andrea

Corner restaurant in a lovely part of Brooklyn Heights

By anencioni75 |

I went for brunch last Sunday with a friend of mine who already knew the place. To start this lovely restaurant is on a corner between 2 of the most historical streets of Brooklyn Heights, a real gem! The place is welcoming , cozy and well decorated. The waitress was super nice and friendly and the food really good! ( make sure you taste their Panna Cotta!). I will definitely be back

Excellent food, friendly staff

By thkohler |

We stayed at the River Deli for lunch as a family of 5 on a Sunday as a break before going to Brookly Bridge Park. The menu is small but has all typical italien dishes. The food was fresh, quickly served and nicfly presented. The kids had a burger resp spaghetti carbonara and we had a mixed salad with a bruschetta with ham and some pasta.

Just a coffee, wish we had more

By LindseyWS1 |

We popped in here for a quick coffee, it was absolutely gorgeous inside and the menu looked so inviting, I wish we could have stayed longer. Rough & ready service from the bar man/possible owner? However this is meant as a compliment, as he was polite & efficient, it all felt very authentic!!

Not a very nice staff

By Michal |

The waitress didn't let us to sitt where we want, she wanted to know if we are for lunch or just coffee. The waitress brought us the bill witout us asking for it. She was rud and we felt like we were kicked out. They accept only cash and the food is not that good

Authentic Italian!

By Ross B |

My friends and I ate in here on the recommendation from a friend who had lived in New York for a time. We rang ahead to ensure we could get a reservation. Firstly, no matter where your'e coming from in the city, give yourself some extra time to soak up the tranquility and richness of the area in which the restaurant is situated. The buildings in the vicinity are architecturally fascinating. We had a relaxing and traditional meal at River Deli. The setting is warm and welcoming, and it feels like you've been transported to the centre of Rome. The food is great and quite reasonable. What's super about this restaurant is the fact that is full of locals, which is great for tourists who want to escape the business of Manhattan. My only complaint would be that the service is extremely quick and I often got the impression that they wanted our table for the next reservation. Overall, a great restaurant with some Italian style about it!

Delicious, Homemade Pasta

By Aimy N |

Finding an authentic Italian restaurant with good homemade pasta is hard anywhere outside Italy. Fortunately, I found the River Deli. The pastas are simply delicious! Very good.

Great restaurant in a beautiful neighborhood

By Paul P |

This is a wonderful Italian restaurant located one block from the river in a great residential neighborhood. The food is fantastic. And even though we didn't have reservations, our host was able to get us seated within 10 minutes after we arrived. If you're looking for great Italian cuisine, look no further!

Nice Local Place

By Bruce L |

You wouldn't know from it's name, but the River Deli is a cozy Italian restaurant serving well prepared, nicely portioned Italian with a nice combination of the the new and the traditional. Very pleasant dining room with attentive, service. A very nice little place for a fine meal.

Rude staff and average food

By Jack D |

Ignore the high rating on here - watery, bland pasta which is fine but not worth travelling for, but incredibly rude manager. Kept waiting for 40 mins and then insulted when didn’t leave a huge tip. Avoid avoid avoid!

Average food but awful service

By cantabC5 |

We stopped there on a saturday for lunch. Food was average, ie good but not more than that. The location is good, atmosphere and decor very nice. However, the service was really unpleasant. The girl who took care of us (Mariella I believe) was simply rude, especially in the way she was looking at customers and pushing them to end their meal and leave. She barely talked to us and worst, brought us the check without us asking (and we stayed 30min so we did not take long)!!! Same for the other tables around us. While I agree that it is being proactive, there was no one waiting for a table so I do not believe that it is appropriate. I won’t come back because of that and would not recommend the place.

Cena

By Barbara N |

Amazing food!! Really congrats for the quality and the preparation of the food!!! The best italian restaurant that we ever had in the states!!! Really Italian taste! We are italian, we really know of what we are talking about! If you are in the Brooklyn Heights area you have to come in in this piece of Italy taste! The owners are truly italians! We went out for dinner two times! And we tried different plates, all there was really perfect done and cooked! Congrats! Ciao Massimo and Barbara

Was a great Italian dinner on our first night in the Big Apple

By Don C |

We had spent a long day traveling and it was late when we checked into our VRBO in Brooklyn Heights. We were tired and wanted some food close by. This was only a couple blocks from our place so we stopped for dinner. The seating is very tight but the atmosphere was very quaint. The food was excellent in quality and flavor. IF I had to ding something it would be the portion size for the price. A bit small for the price but as you can see, I give them full marks! They are cash-only but that is made clear before you walk in the door so there were no surprises.

A very chilled out space with good food

By Aaron T |

NY isn't short of good Italian food, but this is also a relaxed and chilled out spot. The food isn't exceptional but it is well executed and with good engaging service, it's the type of good local hangout that you'll want to return to often.

Wish it was my local! Love this place, great food and relaxed vibe

By ObjectiveFoodie007 |

I came to NYC for work from London. Found this place by accident when I was wandering to Brooklyn Heights, and it was a favourite find and have been back a couple of times since when I've been over. It is also good value compared to other places we were frequenting! Small, local restaurant/bar with a relaxed vibe, in a quiet, pretty part of Brooklyn. Had good food and wine there. I wish it was my local!

Favorite Spot.

By TravelSketchbook |

I live near River Deli and have for years. It is my favorite spot in the neighborhood. The location is a bit off the beaten path on a residential, cobbled section of Brooklyn Heights. It's adorable. The interior is cozy with lots of natural light and a fun green/white tiled floor, which I think was retained from when the space was a deli. The owners, a brother and sister from Sardinia, maintain high standards for the homemade food. And everything is reasonably priced. I hope this place is there for ages to come because I will keep going back. Just love it!

Super charming

By EddieGams |

Carlo was attentive and gracious. The drink was tasty. The bruschetta was enormous and yummy. My lasagna hit the spot in a cold winter night. Lovely ambience.

Pour un Brunch à Brooklyn

By Fred B |

Great Omelettes and Pancakes with tremendous coffee. Very Nice atmosphere and pleasant hosts. I recommend

could do better ...

By dogduckcow |

The restaurant is set on a lovely street - and looks really pretty. The downside however is that the food or at least the pasta and lasagne dishes that myself and my friend ordered were really average. The quality of the ingredients is good - and the cooking itself is decent ( but it was only pasta so how hard can it be ). We had hoped due to all of the reviews that this place was special. Unfortunately not ...

Great food, wine, service in a small restaurant setting.

By WWCJr |

We were seated right on time with our reservation, recommended since it is a smaller restaurant. Everyone enjoyed the suggested wine selections and more importantly, everyone enjoyed their dinner. It was a friendly, fun evening for us.

Innovative specials and good vegetarian selections in a friendly setting

By TravelinFieldGuy |

They had great options for our vegan vegetarian, but lots of choices for me as well. Plenty of charm, in a cozy neighborhood setting. Innovative specials, and a nicely done gin martini to start the night off. Good value and not too expensive -- but note that they are CASH ONLY. They didn't take reservations for tables of 3 or less, so best to come early as it fills up fast. Bottom Line: A Brooklyn Heights winner -- I will most certainly be back when next visiting friends in Brooklyn!

Delicious Sardinian food.

By vacationjunkieny |

This casual, romantic restaurant has authentic Italian food. The specials and seafood are really good. The pasta homemade and delicious. Great antipasta, burrata, and chicken milanese. The service is good, with a lively atmosphere. Usually it's not too long to wait for a table, and there is a comfortable bar. Great for couples, and families. They also do a very nice brunch on the weekend.

Very solid Italian food, "quaint" feeling place. BK Heights is gorgeous

By Arun21 |

I hate to use the word quaint, but this place is that. I sound like my mom when I say that word... Anyways, we went to River Deli on a Friday with a group of 4 people, they took reservations on the early end (7pm). Food was simple, good Italian food. The neighborhood and restaurant itself had great atmosphere. Was a smaller split-room restaurant with thoughtfully curated decor. Interior felt very similar to Freeman's in Manhattan. Drink selection was good, cocktails were about $11. Great wine selection. Great pasta. I had the papardelle with mushrooms. Food isn't trying too hard. Appetizer we had eggplant with truffle oil. Dessert had the ricotta cheesecake and chocolate mousse. For 4 people with everyone drinking 1-2 drinks it came out to about $150. Not bad at all. Overall, food is good, ambiance is intimate. You feel a tad special sitting down here. It's surprisingly good priced for the neighborhood and popularity of the place. I'd go back.

Excellent

By Neil M |

Lunch here with my family yesterday. Friendly staff, fresh food, great service, good value. Highly recommended.

Warm and cozy neighborhood joint

By Steph10262013 |

This is a quaint and small place serving rustic style Sardinian food. We stopped in around 8pm on a Monday night (surprisingly busy for that time, so you know it's good!) and were immediately greeted by friendly staff. I had the special (artichoke ravioli with pine nuts) and hubs had the short pasta with sausage and tomato sauce - both were fantastic. It's also a five minute walk from Brooklyn Bridge Park, great for an after dinner stroll to see the Manhattan Skyline.

Excellent Italian Dining

By sandysilvers |

We were in NYC for a special occasion...my Sister walked us from her home to a neighborhood favorite. The atmosphere was extremely warm. The service was outstanding. The food was pure delicious. From the appetizers through the entrees...the only word is a family owned restaurant with excellence. I would suggest dining here if you want an old fashioned neighborhood restaurant with the utmost quality.

Hidden Gem

By Danna F |

River deli is the perfect neighborhood restaurant. The food is fresh and incredible, the location is lovely, and the price is reasonable. You can't go wrong!

Great place to eat , atmosphere and good food

By markw6392016 |

Just a short walk from promenade is River Deli. A nice place on the Italian theme with varied menu and good portion size.food was good and service very attentive. Had a Brooklyn larger and my wife had a cocktail, had shared bruschetta starter followed my Lasagna and Tuna main course with dessert and coffee. Only accept cash but do have a ATM machine in house.

Great food and atmosphere.

By sarawill |

We stumbled across this when walking through Brooklyn. The restaurant is very cute and has a romantic atmosphere. We ordered tuna and steak, they were both delicious. The neighbourhood was so pretty and quiet, with locals returning home from work. It was nice to get away from the hussle and bussle and eat some proper food!

Great atmosphere

By Danielle D |

Wonderful dinner- great service, candlelit, really tasty food and on just the best corner of a beautiful street. The aperols were a good start to our meal. We really enjoyed everything about River Deli and have recommended River Deli to our friends

Fantastic Restaurant - just go!

By Insulin38 |

This restaurant is fabulous. We took an Uber from Manhattan & it was so worth it. The restaurant has a great vibe - service was impeccable & the food was excellent. We shared the charcuterie/olives & bruschetta (5 of us). We had the Lasagna (best ever had), spinach & ricotta ravioli ( delicious), paparedelle/ mushrooms (wow), lamb Ragu/ tagliatelle (superb) & one of the specials which was wonderful. This restaurant is one of the best I have ever visited - take the time to go there!

Spectacular Italian Food, Bring Cash

By Bex |

Talk about a hidden gem! River Deli did not disappoint on my 8 year old son's birthday! The food was spectacular, atmosphere charming, and staff friendly. We all loved the entire experience and look forward to returning. They have a cash machine on site in case you don't have enough on you.

Amazing Food & Atmosphere - We Love This Place!

By TJENYC |

This is one of the most charming and authentic restaurants you will find in NYC and it sits in a beautiful location (Brooklyn Heights). The owners, bartenders, and waiters are fantastic. We have frequented the River Deli for many years and never been disappointed. The menu is full of amazing entrees that are pure perfection. The pasta dishes are always a favorite of mine. The lasagna is a must! Also, they serve daily specials which are wonderful as well. Last evening I had a real treat as they had Tagliatelle with shaved black truffles in a black truffle sauce and it was spectacular! There is nothing on their menu I would not recommend. The wine list is perfect complement to their dishes and reasonaly priced. All the outstanding hospitality and amazing flavors of Italy and Sardinia.

Great Sardinian/Italian Food

By Bonarrigo |

Great neighborhood restaurant with a good wine list and interesting menu. Good service in a cozy atmosphere I had the Montefalco Abruzzi with my Malloredus Sardi Alla Campidanse. My wife had Trofieal Pesto. Nice atmosphere for a romantic dinner.

Brooklyn meets Italy

By Excursion700478 |

Great place with delicious food and homely atmosphere. I had one of the best marinara souce together with calamari frites.

A bit of Sardinia but not only!!!

By Leila C |

We had dinner in late April at this Brooklyn place. It has tables both inside and outside, and the environment is particularly cozy and intimate; the owner is Italian, precisely Sardinian, and you can taste some typical Sardinian dishes, also flanked by very simple but quality courses. They also serve excellent aperitifs. In short, you can range from a simple cutting board to a traditional Sardinian dish or a simple steak with a side dish of your choice (really good meat, apt cooking). Desserts are made by them. We had the ricotta with an orange cream, it was very delicate. Fair prices for the target offered. I recommend it!!!!

Great location with great food

By Aleks68 |

River deli situated very close to Brooklyn Bridge park and inside lovely Brooklyn Heights historical section of Brooklyn. We enjoyed their outstanding service and food quality. We ordered Branzini and one of pasta dishes. Both dishes were cooked almost perfectly.

Very tasty and fresh Italian restaurant

By PietervandeRest |

We loved the fact that we were welcome with 6 persons without reservation. Just a beautifull place in Brooklyn Heights. The pasta is freshly made and everything tasted very authentic. We choose burrata and bruchetta for appetizers. Second course we all had lovely different pasta's.

Family Run Family orientated Authentic Italian

By Stephen M |

We came across the River Deli by pure chance having walked over Brooklyn Bridge from mid town Manhattan. Continuing our walk by the East River into the lovely area of Brooklyn Heights. We arrived late afternoon, brunch was still being served. A warm welcome, the restaurant was busy (it was a Saturday afternoon). The Deli is situated on a beautiful corner amongst residential dwellings of Brooklyn Heights. We opted for Uova in Camicia (poached eggs on bread with butter sauce ham & salad) & Malloredus Sardi alla Campedanese (Sardinian pasta with sausage, tomato sauce & pecorino cheese. Washed down with local Brooklyn lager. The food was so fresh, very tasty & well presented. Simple well thought out ingredients made for perfect food. Ideal after a good stroll. Search out The River Deli when in the area. We hoped to return for dinner, however did not make it back! Our loss....

Such a pity

By Marie L |

Myself, my son and daughter in law went for dinner last week. Had bruschetta, calamari, eggplant, calamari and prawn tagletelli, tagletelli la ragu. All very ordinary. Can't understand all the great reviews. Such a pity because my son has just moved nearby but we will not be back.

Good restaurant

By arie b |

This is an Italian restaurant with a very good cook. All the courses were very well executed. However, watch ou when you order one of the specials. All the main courses are priced somewhere between 15 and 20 dollars. Our brantino turned out to cost us 28 dollars. That is a very big difference and left us feeling a bit cheated.

Delicious

By Gavin M |

Great atmosphere, delicious food, great selection of cocktails and genuinely friendly staff. Would highly recommend for an evening meal

Don't miss it!

By Marcello G |

As I was at "River Deli" a few years ago, I decided to visit it again last July, during my past vacation in New York City. The venue is really nice, close to the Brooklyn Heights, where I suggest you to attend the sunset show under the well world-known bridge. After this, you'd have a great dinner at RD. This restaurant is a tiny piece of Italy, where Sardinian tastes merge with the American ones. We've had two proseccos, fresh raviolis, one NY strip steak and a lovely home-made dessert. The bill is not expensive as ones you are used to pay in Manhattan and the food is great. Reservation is recommended. Payment only with cash. Don't miss it!

Spot on!!

By Jim F |

Excellent restaurant/bar in leafy Brooklyn Heights. Super good staff; great cocktails and a really nice menu - try the lasagne!! Couldn't possibly fault this establishment - can you move it to Glasgow, Scotland please??!!

Great

By LAFAMILLEG11231 |

All around good, good food, good atmosphere, good service. Nice addition the area. Vermentino wine great !!!

Fabulous Italian Food

By Paul W |

A quiet weeknight dinner for two. Attentive wait staff who miss nothing. A comfortable small restaurant in a quiet street. Charming ambience. We selected lasagna and lamb ragu tagliatelle. Both were so delicious we are returning tomorrow night, hoping to be able to have an appetiser as well as their delicious bread and .a desert each.

A Gem in Brooklyn

By Jerry R |

Couldn't get in one evening without a reservation, but came back a few days later for lunch--no problem, glad I did. This tiny, lovely, old world restaurant is truly a find. Off the beaten path, in a gorgeous corner of Brooklyn Heights, the feel is more English pub than NY restaurant. The food is great as well. I had the stuffed Zucchini accompanied by salad and a glass of pinot griggio--a perfect lunch. Service was slow, but when you see the small open kitchen, you'll understand why. Well worth the treck, especially combined with a visit to the new Brooklyn Bridge Park nearby.

Disappointing food and service

By Welovetheroad |

I can only assume dinner is better than brunch or lunch. It's a very limited menu and an unfriendly policy of no modifications to the bare bones offerings. The waiter blamed the kitchen for not wiling to make any changes but it sounded more like an excuse. No one appeared to be in charge. We were served burnt toast and the waiter mocked us as the only people who complained about the toast. Then he tried to charge us to replace it. It IS a cute atmosphere just really mediocre food.

Gorgeous Little Bistro

By CnMBath |

Popped in for Sunday lunch. Our group chose four different light lunch options and none of us were disappointed - lovely home cooked Sardinian dishes. Lovely little neighbourhood bistro with lots of atmosphere. Clientele mainly local with a smattering of tourists lucky enough to stumble across it on the way to admire the views of Manhattan across the Hudson.

Very good restaurant

By Okvik1 |

We had dinner here last night with friends and we all enjoyed our meals The place has a great local feel to it and while it is not fancy it was very comfortable The service was excellent and the staff very attentive & pleasant The restaurant is very small so reservations are a must The noise level can be high. We sat in the rear which was much quieter so that we were able to both enjoy the food and the company of our friends

Lovely and near the skyline!

By Audrey C |

Charming restaurant located in a typical brownstone street. The Italian cuisine is fresh and quality. The pasta was delicious and the ricotta cake a delight. Service was very friendly Only little Flat, you can only pay in cash, but the restaurant has a machine near the toilet to draw money if necessary.

great pasta near a great point of view of new york

By vdblt1 |

we were walking in brooklyn in a very quiet street a little before 7 and saw this restaurant that was full of people that seems to live here. sz went to see the view of new york in the park near the shore and found out that it would be nice to eat here and come back to see the view again at night the restaurant was perfect and the pasta delicious and creative. I asked the waitress if the cook was italian and it seems that he has italian family ;-) we were in roma 2 years ago and it reminded us of the pasta there !

Warm and Cosy

By TheBrownsofMargate |

Popped in here last week after walking along the Brooklyn front following lunch at the river cafe. Stumbled across this place walking back to borough hall metro and popped in for a drink - a very warm and inviting bar/restaurant We had some drinks at the bar and have to say it seemed friendly and welcoming - we did not eat but saw people eating and it looked good A great find

Very trendy, very Brooklyn and quite good

By PrinceConsort |

Just to be clear, this is not a deli, and while it is near the river, it is not on the river. It is a sort of out of the way restaurant way down Joralemon Street that specializes in Sardinian food. I'm not sure exactly what Sardinian food is...I guess it is just a variant of standard Italian food. In any case, the food was quite good. The restaurant is clearly very popular. It is hard to get a reservation, and the place was very busy and quite crowded when we were there, but with a great vibe. Service was OK - friendly but a bit overwhelmed by the crowd - but we had no complaints. A great spot for dinner.

Lovely Neighbourhood Restuarant

By Mrsbko11 |

Dined her with a friend last week, who had dined here twice before and had an enjoyable time with very good service. Unfortunately for this visit the female server from previous visit was not there on this night. Lovely neighbourhood feel, nice ambience, very enjoyable food and reasonably priced. Welcome was friendly. When ordering wine we were offered several to try. But unfortunately it took a very long time for this to arrive and 30 seconds later our meals were delivered. Would love to have given this restuarant a higher review as we really enjoyed our food, but the service was the downfall. Our server was surly and we were made to feel as we were an inconvenience and there was not even a pretence of interest in offering friendly or good service. Unsure if it was a bad night him, which is a shame as everything else we loved.

Gorgeous street views, lovely cocktails

By CETBK |

A small restaurant with a great atmosphere; the view of the street through the huge windows can't be beat and the blackberry gin drink...it's glorious. Also, it's cash only but there is an ATM at the laundromat next door.

Good autetic italian food

By peter s |

Liitle Restaurant no far by Brooklyn bridge Park. Friendly personal, authentic flair, kitchen classic Italien with a little bit of a Fusion to modern and or american.

Wonderful Neighborhood Gem

By Harry T |

Great atmosphere sat at the bar friendly bartender I felt like I was in a Italian village! Good drinks and wine by the glass. I had fried Calamari and the Papradelle ai Fungi homemade fresh pappardelle with mixed mushroom ragu both were delicious . Looking forward to going back soon

My Favorite Charming, Authentic & Affordable Italian Restaurant!

By Shelley G |

The River Deli is warm, cozy and charming authentic Italian restaurant. I was almost hesitant to write a review because in some ways I like that this place is still a best-kept "secret." The owners moved here a few years ago from Italy and everything is homemade and DELICIOUS. Seriously, the best Italian food I've had in New York. Not to mention, their prices are extremely reasonable for the incredible quality of food. I love everything about River Deli and can't recommend it enough. Definitely take a walk along Brooklyn Bridge Park when you're done with dinner!

Good local place

By Fernley1 |

A small corner restaurant in a great location in the Heights. Relaxed and friendly with good service. Had the special fish and ravioli which were both good. Fairly expensive but a good experience. Strangely the background music consisted of 1980s British pop music which for a 49 year old Mancunian was a bonus!

Hmm...

By La_Luna1971 |

I was expecting great neighbourhood Italian fare, a lazy Sunday afternoon lunch. Maybe it's the fact I'm European but I found that to only have brunch as an option on Sunday was very limiting. The food in itself wasn't notable and overall I found the experience to be blah.

Wonderful brunch & Italian dinner spot in Brooklyn Heights!

By German B |

We had passed this place so many times - it was always poacked for brunch on the weekends! We decided to try them out for dinner, and we're so glad we did! First, a caveat: it's cash only (they do have an ATM inside) so no cards! It's a very beautiful, old-school, turn-of-the-century vibe that we love about Brooklyn Heights. We were lucky enough to get a table for two without waiting. To start, our drinks were awesome! The mixologist made a wonderful margarita and the best old-fashioned I've had literally in years! Their calamari fritti was breaded & fried to a very delicate crisp. The homemade pasta dishes were amazingly fresh too. We had pappardelle al funghi (mixed mushrooms, olive oil, parmesan) and tagilatelle al ragu di agnello (lamb ragu, cinnamon, cannanou wine sauce, pecorino) and both were out of this world with flavor and perfectly cooked al-dente goodness. Their torta al limone slice for dessert was outstanding as well. This was one of the best meals we've had in the neighborhood, and we told Morgan (manager/server) that we would return with friends. It's a must! (Just remember to bring cash! And by the way, the prices were very reasonable: all the pasta dishes were around $20, drinks $16)

Charming restaurant

By Tamara Y |

Great food, friendly staff. I went with my dad, and he LOVED the food. He took a picture of the restaurant so that when he goes back he can remember what it was called (lol!). It has a good mix of price points. It was close to the promenade and it was a lovely walk to get to it.

My worst restaurant experince ever

By Montelupone |

I went few times and I went back because I liked the food, but this last time was the worst experience I ever had in my life in a restaurant. The waiter has the worst attitude since the begining, she didn't explained properly the menu and she confused taking orders. the service was not only bad but her behavior was rude, was impatience and talked very loud and with bad manners. We were a a group of three and shared two appetizers and 2 main dishes and when we were served the 2 main courses we had only 3 very smail dishes not even the size of desert dish, when I asked her if she could bring 3 large dishes she reponded in avery rude manner that she may get others not too much larger. Thas was enough and I went to the manager, I told him that i was making complaint about the service that was a disaster. He reacted extremely rude saying that if i was not satisfiied I should go and he would not charge us for what we ate, I said that that's not the point I wanted to finsh my meal an pay for it but I was making a complaint for the service, the waiter came an interrupt us very rude again and I told her to shut up, the manager reacted even worst, not only was not even listening to my complaint but on top he said: I am the only one here that can I say shut up. This could end in a fight. And we left. I asked him to calm down and listen to my complaint and he insisted that he didn/t want to talk to me anymore and I shoud leave. The place is not the same as it used to be, more dirty very bad lighting and quality of products deminished. I don;t know if has different ownership or managment but this rstaurant is horrible I will bever go back and tell everybody I know is a disaster.

Nice restaurant. Good food and friendly service.

By SDJP |

The menu is short but a nice selection. Food was very good and the service excellent. It's a nice spot in a great neighbourhood (Brooklyn Heights).

Great food and service

By Margi L |

Seven of us on a Saturday night were not going to fit easily when we were looking for a local restaurant. The River Deli was right under our noses as we were staying close by. So glad it was as we all had a great night there. The staff were so accommodating of our group and found us a suitable table quickly despite being quite busy. We had a variety of dishes from the menu, all of which were beautifully cooked and delivered in good time with great service. We enjoyed our visit to River Deli and wish we could return soon.

Delicious Bruschetta

By Emma J |

After a long walk in the park we popped in for some energy. We only ordered bruschetta but it was some of the best I've ever had. However, tiramisu was the opposite :-( The bill came and despite the menu saying service is only added on tables of 6+ they had added it anyway even though it was just the 2 of us. We would have tipped. I hate places that decide it for you so wouldn't go back!

Nice, family Neighborhood Italian

By David W |

Good food, reasonably priced in a nice neighborhood setting. The lunch pastas were particularly good. The cinnamon pancakes were dry, but the accompanying blueberry salsa and whipped cream were yummy!

A Brooklyn Heights treat

By enroute55 |

Wish this lovely neighbourhood restaurant was in business when we lived in Brooklyn Heights some time ago. It is great. Plenty of atmosphere, nice serving staff, imaginative menu and great, great food. Nothing to fault, but always look forward to going back.

Great hidden gem in Brooklyn Heights

By T H |

Great hidden gem in Brooklyn heights. Quite. Great service and good food. All good we had lasagna, branzino, spinach ravioli.
