Cool Hangout Spot

By Andrea B |

Some friends and I stumbled on this place on Saturday night. We almost walked right past but we caught a look at the patio from the street and decided to head on in. This place has a really awesome patio full of neat spots to hang out. The patio has a rustic feel with large wooden beams, farm? equipment and old license plates. Inside is decorated with a wonderfully eclectic collection of art and knickknacks. The bar service was quick and friendly and they had a decent selection of local beers.

best experience in the city

CASH ONLY - an awesome Portland atmosphere

By Emily S |

Indoor and outdoor seating. A mishmash of patio, junkyard, and antique furniture, this cash-only hole in the wall is an awesome place to grab a drink or bite to eat in the quirky Portland style! Wine selection is pretty much zero, but if you do crave a glass, the pinot grigio they had was actually quite nice.

Really good staff with good food and drinks. Great environment to just hangout with the wife! Would definitely stop by on my way back through.

Eclectic interior

You must do your all your ordering at the "specific" location of the bar. I learned standing at the bar waiting for service, to order drinks, prior to food did not get the bartender attention. After moving to the "correct" location, I ordered. When paying and collecting my change (several dollars), I was told by the unfriendly bartender that the tips are shared with the kitchen. A favorable gesture, however being delivered to me by the person who had ignored me for a few minutes while errantly standing at the bar and whom I note had a poor personality for a bartender, came across rather tackless. I smiled and said when we are finished is when a tip will be decided. There is a carved pool table in the back room which can be played for free. A piano is also available to whomever wishes to play. The food is average bar food. Nothing to talk about.

Kitchy place with a whole lot of portland attitude

By lindsaylauren2014 |

If you don't know where you're going this place is a little hidden. With a woodfire pit and outdoor smoking area this is very typical of local portland. Lots of different themes and feelings in this place, very a-typical- must see it for yourself.

**Cash Only Bar** - A whole other world in the middle of Portland

This place is by far my absolute favorite watering hole in the city! Tucked away behind a wooden fence, you are entering into a whole other atmosphere. I have never sat inside because I very much enjoy the fire pit and social aspects of sitting outside. I frequent this place almost every weekend with my friends. The food is excellent and not your typical bar fair. They have some pretty cool drinks in the bottle and I assume on tap (not a beer drinker). Full bar as well. If you want something funky, down to earth, super friendly this is the place to go!

Favorite Bar!

If you're asking me, no other place in Portland captures the essence of the east side more than this bar. The scenes are eclectic, the crowds are inclusive, everyone is just themselves, and no one needs to be impressed. Thank you for existing, Roadside!

Best winter bar and Summer fun

I just love this place in the winter since it has that fire pit, but also a chill spot for the summer siting outside.

Just the right amount of funky

By Mike191919 |

The name fits the theme for this interesting hang out spot. The decorations seem to be collected from the random roadside attractions that dot the U.S. roads and routes. The darkly lit interior is creative in its own right, but for me the real winner here is the eclectic outside patio. Complete with fire pit, little tables fit into little nooks, picnic tables, among other oddities brings together an atmosphere I enjoy to hang out in all times of year. The beer and food does the trick, being both affordable and thirst quenching- the chili mac and cheese is a favorite mine. One side note that is always worth repeating, they are cash only so bring some bills.

Such a good place and 'only in Portland' experience

This is what we came to Portland for!! Cash only, lots of character and great drinks. It feels like a backyard party with a group of randoms. Old furniture, bizarre decorations and well worn pool tables filled with regulars. Great place and the staff were ace as well.

The Essence of Portland

By Philip G |

A Roadside Attraction is the epitome of what makes Portland so special. The courtyard entrance is a hodgepodge of chairs and lounge areas reminiscent of some Bohemian enclave in 1965. On entering, the clientele is also a hodgepodge of all ages and persuasions. Fortunate to find two places at the bar, the person next to me was kind of enough to wipe the bar in front of me offering, “ Let me clean that for you.” “Why, thank you!” The friendly bartenderess poured my local vodka the way I like it, and smiled the whole time. This is a happy place, but it is cash only. A Roadside Attraction represents what I love about Portland. No one judges, and everyone is allowed to just be. Our engaging server gave us suggestions for our dinner at Kachka and she was right on. We wanted to return to A Roadside Attraction after dinner, but we were too full. However, we will return on our next visit to Portland.
