Great Birthday Dinner

By CRPSEA |

Party of 8, went to Robert's to celebrate my birthday. The appetizers were fantastic, and I will single out the baba ganoush and the eggplant caviar. The mushroom julien was amazing. The meats were cooked superbly making it a birthday meal to remember. Hats off to the chef and the staff!!

Good food

We were in Hollywood and wanted something different. You get good value here. Your meal comes with a nice bowl of borscht. The food was plentiful and very tasty. The waiter we had could speak very little English but he was amusing. I would recommend this place.

Great Dinner Place for Hollywood Boulevard

By Kelvin Khoo |

For a group size of 5, we spent $100! We had appetizers to share, drinks and 1 main for all. As I come from Singapore, I have no clue what type of Cuisine I had but I know its Russian/Georgian/Armenian :) Was prepared to be advernturous and the risk was well worth it. The gentleman who served us spoke decent English and was able to engage in good conversation. The main comes with soup and drink. I had the Beef Kebab that came with rice and potatoes, tasty! You must try the dumplings too! Less than 10 minutes walk for Hollywood Roosevelt.

Very good Russian Food

Hi, I went to eat for a quick lunch in this place and I really liked. It was my first time eating Russian food. Great service and the restaurant inside is very nice. It also has a nice location right after sunset.

Atmosphere was great, food was even better - real authentic Russian (and not only) cuisine - felt like I was somewhere in Moscow!

real deal

By tom z |

authentic russian and georgian food prepared and served by same. and pretty much the patronage is the same. so if your're visiting from mother russia, you'll feel right at home. we ate allover hollywood the week we were there, this place we went back to 3 times. you don't leave hungry or broke. and definitely try a bottle of "GAZOZ"(russian soda) unbeleivable. they only serve wine and beer. they welcome you bringing your own vodka.

Meals arrived hot and tasty

By Krazy C |

This is perhaps an odd place, a long-established restaurant serving Russian cuisine in a strip mall a few blocks from the Hollywood Walk of Fame. But if you miss some Russian favorites, it may just be what you need. The entrance is behind a trellis fence, and non-smokers must endure the stink of stale tobacco in order to get inside. Typical décor awaits. While waiting to be seated, notice the generous incentive for paying cash. The Russian beer and glass arrived cold and the plates of food arrived piping hot. Bravo! Expect rice to be served with most dishes. I was a bit disappointed that my beef Stroganoff was not pair with egg noodles, but enjoyed it nonetheless. My paid cash in the end, tipping generously, but the owners made no mention of the forgotten cash discount. Stupid me and shame on them.

Great Food and Friendly Service

We had dinner here last week and we were extremely pleased. The owner served us and was really helpful with our selections. We had stuffed cabbage rolls as an appetiser to share, and they were excellent. For mains (entrée in USA), I had pork schnitzel and my partner had beef stroganoff. Both were excellent also. All entrees come with either soup or salad. I had salad with Italian dressing and my partner chose borsch. Again, couldn't fault either. We took 4 friends we were travelling with there 2 days later for lunch on our last day in the States, and again the standard of food was excellent. Would highly recommend this place if you are in the area.

Excellent Food and Friendly Service

By E. L. |

We had lunch there on Sunday, soon after they opened. WHilw the resturant was quiet, they were setting up for a big event. Our waitress was very attentive and the food was excellent! There were too many items on the menu that we wanted to order! The pelmeni and borsht were both amazing. We will definitely return next time we are in the area. Such a great find, and even more special among the big chain resturants!

Great Russian food at affordable prices

By scdancer |

We stopped in there on a whim while visiting the area, because we were hungry and it was convenient to an errand we were running across the street. We're very glad we did because the food was truly delicious and plentiful, the service was friendly, and the prices were affordable. We were pretty much the only non-Eastern European customers in there and they all seemed like local regulars. We will definitely make a point to go back there the next time we visit Los Angeles.

Enjoyed

We were walking around and saw this restaurant, thought lets give it a try, and were very happy with our choice. I couldn't tell you is the food was authentic, it appeared to be, but I am not an expert on Russian food. It was similar to what I have gotten when traveling in Eastern Europe. More important, it was good, and the price was reasonable. The restaurant is not fancy, however they do everything they can to make your table and experience seem more upscale, everything was presented nicely as you would expect in a more fancy setting. The waiters do seem authentic and with a good sense of humor. A pleasant experience

Amazing Russian cousin for casual dining

By George O |

We actually headed to another Mediterranean place at Hollywood Blvd and La Brea, which was closed and Google gave us this place. We were very happy with the choice and quality of food. Our server Ksyusha was very polite and attentive. We ordered Ukrainian borsch and Kiev chicken. It was soooo good! We came here next day again for the same great service and food. Highly recommended!

A-m-a-z-i-n-g!

The restaurant serves variety of dishes from the Russian and Armenian cuisine. We ate the pilmeni, chicken shish kebab and chicken lula kebab with borsht soup. Everything was delicious, great value for the price! I loved how Robert himself was there serving us, and wasn't trying to sell us too many dishes that we wouldn't finish. A very recommended restaurant, I will definitely come back here! Thank you Robert 😊

Russian Restaurant in Los Angeles

By samuel742015 |

Excellent Russian restaurant in a mall with local parking in Hollywood. Very fair price and great food. The atmosphere is simple, but the service is impeccable, everyone is super friendly and authentically Russian. I ordered a stroganoff which was wonderful. The starter soups are also great. For Los Angeles the prices are very good, around 20 dollars for a main dish.

Excellent, delicious, and affordable food.

I had a nice experience in this restaurant. The food was very good and very affordable, especially the potato and rice, no complaints.

Bring a Big Appetite

We had never had Russian before and were pleasantly surprised. The Barley soup was great and the main course was very good and very big.

Very tasty and affordable

A very good friend of ours who is Russian recommended this restaurant to us. So today was our 1st time here and our 1st time eating Russian food. We started with the Borscht soup... Oh My Goodness, it was delicious, very fulfilling and the presentation was very nice. We then had the Chicken a la Kiev, it was crunchy and with a delightful surprise buttery filling. To drink we had a Russian Pear Soda, so refreshing! We learned that the owner Robert, used to be work as a Chef in Russia and when he came to US he was encouraged to open a Russian restaurant because his food was delicious, we are so glad he did! Johnny took care of us, he even taught us a few Armenian words. The restaurant is small and cozy, with beautiful Russian art displayed on the walls and a very unique collection of wine bottles from Russia and Armenia. The ladies bathroom was immaculate and pretty. This was an amazing culinary experience, we felt welcomed and very well taken care off. We will come again! Thank you! Spasibo!

Great food and service!

It was our first time for all of us at this Hollywood Armenian/Russian restaurant, so we were unsure what to expect. My wife and I joined 6 others. The 2 (Armenian) servers were excellent, very patient. We had appetizers of Humus, Eggplant Armenian style, Marinated Mushrooms, and Peleini (Russian Dumplings). All were great! For entrees, we had Lamb Osso Buco (Lamb Shank), Khashlama Beef Ox Tail, Robert's Shrimp Special, 2 Frog Legs, 2 Beef Stroganoff, and Mushroom Julienne (actually appetizer but ate as a main dish). Everything tasted very good, except: I myself did not like the frog legs, as it tasted too strongly of alcohol; others found it fine. The Ox tail was a big surprise, as it turned out to be a soup (!), though it tasted good; if we had known it was a soup, we would have ordered something else. There was plenty of food and we shared all the various dishes, so we could all sample the different items. For dessert, we had Baklava, which was just about perfect in its sweetness (not the usual sickeningly too sweet at many places), 2 Mango Sorbet, 2 Coconut Mango ice cream - and we all shared this as well. All was very good also. There were also wines and beer, the names of which I don't remember, but was also excellent. I would say that this restaurant, though small, is very very good. The ONLY drawbacks that I can see is the smallness of the restaurant and ... parking lot was small, necessitating us to park at a shopping mall about a block away. Otherwise, I would have to say this place is definitely worth while visiting.

Best food in Hollywood for a low price !

By quitoferreira |

We've been in West Hollywood for 5 days and we had it with junk food, I mean burgers, and all that. We intended to get an Italian restaurant in order to have some pasta, when we discovered Robert 's thru a google search. Honestly I have to say that I was w bit esceptic at first, because Russian food was unknown to me. To my surprise, filet mignon for my son and grilled salmon for me were not only promptly prepared but also cooked in a superb way, tasty but not spicy and delicious. Homemade bread and ice cream vanilla were also outstanding, and the company of a Californian Cabernet Sauvignon put music into the enjoyable dinner. 54 dollars for a well served two guys dinner in West Hollywood is cheap, you know. Moreover, you can't simply miss out this'll e !!!

It really amazing experience

It really amazing experience we tried the lamb soup and the crab salad and the Shish Berak (Pelmeni) and MANTI (Kinkali) and the Combo 1 with Luluah Kebab and Chicken Chops and Lamb Chops it was the best and I strongly recommend it. 👍

Great !

Good food, good service and good music ! Seemed to be on the Volga river. But it's much more mediteraneen food than russian food. The five guys built like gorillas who manage the restaurant are from Armenia.

Really great food and service

Russian food for the locals

By Alan D |

Fairly casual and homey place in Hollywood. Good for families, couples, or eating alone. Located in a small strip mall with a small parking lot. On a Friday night the restaurant was only half full. Staff all seems like family. Large menu that consistently of Russian and Eastern European dishes. Everything was well explained on the menu. Staff was not too informative or helpful when asked what they recommend or whats popular. I wanted dessert, but the server was too busy talking with a large party outside that just finished dinner, so I ended up just paying and leaving. Food was ok and it was a good experience. But if I wanted Russian food I would go somewhere else with better service.
