5*service 1* food except for yummy bread pudding!

By Carolea G |

Fun atmosphere and great service but the food is terrible. Kitchen needs lots of help. Everything came out blackened spicy. The menu does not state it is Cajun. I ordered a Louie salad which could have been wonderful but I do not eat blacked crab or shrimp. My husband asked for lightly blacken his fish! Sent both back without a problem. When my salad return it had six tiny shrimp and almost 0 crabmeat. Spoke to the manager and he stated since I was not having blackened they did not know how much crab or shrimp to put on the salad because it comes out pre weighed. Mgr had to look at the menu and then agreed I was correct says nothing about being blackened. Mgr was accommodating and removed from our bill. Our terrific waitress suggested I try the bread pudding. The saving grace is the fabulous bread pudding. I would go there only for that dessert.

Good beer, great service and fresh food

By Randolph P |

Stopping in before a flight, this place made sure they were fast with friendly smiles. 6 good beers on tap, good fish tacos, and cute employees. Definitely a decent place at a good price.

A Bug In My Salad

By CFeld68 |

I have eaten at this restaurant any times. It is in my neighborhood. The seafood has always been good. This visit was different. Halfway through my salad I discovered a little black bug. Alive! I could not believe it. I showed it to the server who brought the manager over. He was very apologetic, but my husband and I were not going to stay for the rest of the meal. We will never go back. It makes me wonder what else crawls around in restaurant kitchens that we never know about.

Good solid food, friendly ambiance, not waiting

By Don P |

Service was good and friendly. Food was solid/good. They had a half price bottle of wine sale going on so that was very good. The Sea food enchilada was good while the rice pilaf was not special. The garlic shrimp was very good. The best thing in the meal was the Ahi Tuna Nachos which was very good.

Will Never Return

By Karen J |

Food and atmosphere were great. I ordered pecan-crusted salmon, and it was delicious. The problem was the service. Facts: I invited friends to dinner. I picked this restaurant. I asked for the dinner check upon being seated by the server. I made it expressly clear to our server, Charles, that the dinner check needed to come to me. He said, "Yes, ma'am." Then an invited male friend said, "No, the check comes to me." Charles smiled and left the table until delivering our meals. At the end of our dinner, Charles returned and handed the check directly to the male, instead of to me, then he glanced at me as if to say, "Sorry, he's the man." I was embarrassed and felt humiliated. I am absolutely furious about Charles' poor, unqualified decision, and I will never return.

Good food, great service, fun time

By htwh |

The menu is huge and everyone loved what they got. The staff was very attentive and nice, especially our hostess Sam. We even had a toddler in tow, and they were all very friendly to him. Pretty bustling place, but our food came quickly. Would go back in a second.

Great place for lunch

By Stephanie S |

I had the salmon burger and substituted fries for the yummy jalapeno cream soup. The soup is no longer on the menu but they still make it intermittently. This restaurant also offers dedicated parking for seniors making it a closer distance to the front door. My waiter, Darnell, is a pro and anticipates the needs of his customers.

Fish? Used to be a GREAT Place

By yellowpixels |

Over time this place has gone the wrong direction in terms of quality and taste. It used to be one of my favorite places to go but unfortunately not on the frequent visit list any longer.

Among best seafood available in Dallas

By TCregular |

I have only high praise for this Rockfish location and other locations in the DFW area. This time of year, the Copper River (Wild Alaskan) Salmon is worth waiting for! It usually is available only about four weeks. Order it with a bottle of Chardonnay which is reasonably priced. Even when it is not Copper River salmon season, this is an excellent choice for all seafood. Don't expect cloth table cloths, but do expect excellent food and properly prepared. In over 15 years, I have never had a bad meal at Rockfish.

OK, just not great

By 400douglasg |

We love Rockfish, visited the Richardson location on Tues Sept 12, about 4:30 place was nearly empty. Took several minutes to be seated, waiter was wonderful. Place our order Fish and Chips for my wife Stuffed Flounder for me, food arrived promptly min e was warm, not hot, wifes FC were hot but way over cooked to the point of being Chrispy. My flounder was so over cooked that it was like chewing thin strips of leather. The crabmeat stuffing was non existant. There was plenty of rice though. As always the iced tea was awful. It not fresh brewed and tastes like raw sewage. Wife said her slaw was great.

See food, eat food

Been a few years since I'd been here, but it was the perfect place to meet a friend that was in town. We were the youngest people in here by 20 years, but that just meant that it was quiet. Started off with The Rockfish sampler: Calamari, shrimp, and spinach dip. A trifecta of taste. All of that food altered my meal plans, so just had the catfish and shrimp combo. Another solid option. Hear that the tacos were good, too. Plenty of other tasty options await. If you have a need for seafood, pop in to this location, or one near you

Wonderful Meal!

Great menu that included several Gulten Free items. Portions are large and very tastey. Service was excellent. Parking is easy. Would go back next time in town! Fabulous value!

Decor Not Texas But Great Food

By wblu |

Visited for late lunch and at first the decor took be aback...especially being in Dallas TX. Felt like I was in New Hampsire, kinda throws one off, I have been used to wester decor and this was quite a change. The service was really good, or server was Leo abd he was excellent and I thought the food was wonderful and very well prepared. This was my first visit here and really enjoyed it. The prices are very reasonable too. If you crave some seafood in Dallas area and don't want to spend bunches try this place, it was really really good.

Great food.

Food and service is great. Only problem is the noise when it is busy

Good food and prices

By going_gone_again |

Our family of 15 ate here and everyone enjoyed their food. Portions were big enough to share with someone if desired but we all ordered different dishes so there was no room left for dessert. The menu is available online and there are numerous locations in the Dallas area. I had never eaten here before but some of our group had and we were all pleased with their recommendations.

Awesome!

By Sandy714 |

In Dallas for the Big 12 Championship game (Go Horns!) and stumbled on the Rockfish Grill on Preston as we were looking for a place to eat Sunday and watch the cowboy game. Perfect spot! Not only was the food, cold beer & multiple tvs great, but our waiter, Terrell, was very personable and helpful. We chose our type of fish, how it was cooked, and a variety of sauces and side dishes. I had the sauted spinach and sweet potatoes, both were really delicious! My husband tried other dishes and was very impressed! Great menu, atmosphere and service! We will definitely return on our next visit to Dallas.

Always Good for a Tasty Meal

By Marlene U |

I go here frequently with my 90 year old mother. We usually go for lunch and order the salmon. It's served grilled and is flavorful and juicy. The lemon butter makes it even better. We like the sautéed spinach and the creamed corn on the side. They are both yummy. The portion size is perfect for lunch. The tea is always good too. The servers are friendly and usually prompt but not always. Desserts are OK.

Outstanding quality fish, reasonably priced!

By Deltadawn22 |

This is a superb fish restaurant. Lovely staff and first class Margaritas! I had Redfish, my partner had trout. Both were divine. Thanks also to Jason who was a first class server and delightful he remembered us from a year ago. Why we've been so long coming back is a mystery to me. The salads are excellent too, and the clam chowder is simply the best.

Haven't had a bad meal. I swear that they have gotten BETTER as they expand. Love the freshness of the seafood

Used to be good, what was, was!

By lesleyk204 |

It maybe a seafood restaurant but their preparation leaves a lot to be desired. I am allergic to shellfish, so I don't order that and their other options are at best mediocre. We used to enjoy going there but the standard has fallen and we won't be going back anytime soon.

Average at Best

By yellowpixels |

OK we gave it one more try and unfortunately they do not measure up to other fish places in the area. Too bad.

Love this restuarant

By amestex |

I have been to Rockfish several times and every time the service has been outstanding, the food great and the peanuts neverending. My favorites are the crab cake apps, the mexican martini and the clam chowder. But really, everything I've had there is great!

Food great but service not good

By John M |

We ate at Rockfish this week with another couple. We were seated quickly and someone came by immediately to deliver menus and ask for drink orders. She said xxxxx would be our server but he was busy now so she'd take our drink orders. We asked then for separate checks by couple. When she returned with drinks, and asked us if we were ready to order we said yes. The other couple mentioned a coupon they had and were told to hand it to the server when we got our checks. Our real server brought out food fairly promptly, and checked in occasionally. He said they were really busy so his supervisor had taken our orders. When we asked for checks the other couple said that they had a coupon which they gave to the server. Well, the checks were not even close to accurate by couple. My drink was on the other couple's check and the discount was taken off my check. When we left the husband of the other couple was still trying to resolve his bill.

Really good seafood.

By carolecampbell43 |

The seafood is fresh, well prepared and reasonably priced. Good specials and Happy Hour deals. Servers are friendly and don't overwait.

Great Food!

By Karen B |

We went for lunch. I had the lunch Salmon, blackened and hubby had the Herb Crusted Chicken. We enjoyed sides of asparagus, rice and beans, and green beans. Everything was delicious! The wait time between ordering and food arrival was a little long, but Jesika kept our glasses full. It was a wonderful dining experience that we will definitely repeat.

Nice but Pricy

By Richard R |

We live very close to the Rockfish at Campbell and Coit so have been several times. The atmosphere is great, Montana fishing lodge, all wood with rustic pictures. On weekend nights usually a short wait, 30 to 45 miin. The reason I did not rate Rockfish higher is that although the atmosphere wins the battle of the seafood shops its lots pricier that Au Shucks, Coit and Beltline, and Shuck and Jive on George Bush. Both other resturants give you more food and superhot out of the kitchen. Rockfish has the better variety of fish and the specials always beat the others. I am a fried catfish and shrimp eater so prefer Shuck in Jive as #1. No question the bar is better at Rockfish also. By the way none of the places are fine dining, more like the once every couple of week fish shops, all are good though.

Rockfish Campbell and Coit

By Steve S |

Excellent!!! We just completed a rehearsal dinner there for 38 ppl in their new banquet room. It included a Chinese tea ceremony. Working with the managers Josh and Josh was simple. They gave us great servers, and everyone was delighted with the food. I had Snapper served with Ponchatrain Sauce, and my wife had the Snapper served with Oscar. We had dedicated menu describe below. The cost was very reasonable .... $1700 including drinks, gratuities, and taxes. Posted pix below.

Acceptable Fare

By Hank512 |

I have eaten here several times and do so because I thrive on a seafood diet. I found the food here average to very good. I love the Ceviche, it is fresh and very tasty. I had blackened catfish with fried oysters on this trip and they were both good. This is the best healthy choice that I have found for lunch near UT Dallas and I will continue to eat here a couple of times a week. The prices are average for seafood. I have not yet tried the oysters on the half shell. It would be a big improvement if the management would consider using fresh cut potatoes. I despise potatoes dumped out of a brown paper bag. This would be an easy change that have a huge impact on the appearance of the entrees.

Good experience

By mshbnyehud |

My partner and I enjoyed weekend dinner here. Easy to get in, about 3/4 full at 7:30 p.m. Older clientele plus some families. Wine is fairly priced. Mussels were delicious even though 4 of them arrived closed tight. Tasty garlic bread to accompany was great. Louisiana Gumbo was "on sale" for $3 per cut, a great value! The Atlantic Salmon Tacos were perfectly cooked and also very good. We will return.

Just an OK Place

By Andy L |

Our return visit do not show us what this place could be. The food is consistently bland and unimaginative. Staff is indifferent. There are better places around.

Great Experience- Great Seafood

By Mikey143 |

My beautiful wife and I went to the Rockfish in SouthLake. Elegant interior, knowledgeable staff, good variety on the menu. My wife had the salmon salad, she said it was phenominal. I had two appetizers as my meal. The first was mussels in garlic and butter sauce. Awesome !! The other was the crab bisque. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Well worth your visit. Good Happy hour specials, too.

Ho Hum

By Jane S |

I'm just not a big fan of this place. Other people swear by it, but it's a non-event for me. I love seafood, but whatever I get never seems to be exactly what I want. This last trip I had fish and chips. Too much batter on the fish, but otherwise, OK. Decor a little tired and overdone. I'm sure I'll find myself at another Rockfish along the way, but it won't be because I picked it out/

No No!!

By Dominique C |

Recommendations from hotel staff are not always the best way to go! We were attending a seminar in Richardson, TX, at the mercy of locals to help with our decision making. So Rockfish was recommended since we were all tired of eating ribs, pork and anything else that can be BBQ'D. This place was more like a red lobster rather than a good fish restaurant, as requested! From there it got worse. The table was durty, the seat had something wet on it which made for a fun but uncomfortable subject of conversation at the dinner table! I ordered Mahi with vegies on the side. The fish tasted ok and the vegies were just average. Two of the three tickets were wrong, (which they quickly addressed), the free appetizers due to the wet pants incident was also charged to the ticket! We left unimpressed and underwhelmed. As we returned to the hotel, one of the 3 guys started having GI disturbance! Thankfully, the hotel was nearby, but he was out for the count for the rest of the evening. Not impressive and I will avoid the franchise as a whole.

Good Food. Almost non-existent Service.

By Mcoreo2 |

We for an early dinner with a friend to this location. My first time there. It seems to be busy even at 6:30pm. No one at the hostess stand and a guy that worked there kept walking back and forth in front of us then finally came to seat us. He took our drink order and delivered the drinks. then we didn't see anyone for a long time. I was about to flag someone down because we needed a gluten free menu and finally a girl came to the table. We asked for the menu she brought it and then she came back in a timely manner and took our order. I ordered the Tower app and friend the Chicken cobb. I don't know exactly how long it was because we were just talking but it seems like it was about 25 minutes and the food still had not come. They do not give bread or anything while you wait for your meal by the way. The waitress was walking by and saw us looking at her with that "where is our food?" look and she said sorry for the delay it will be out soon. about 5 minutes later the food came to the table. The tower was delish and a good portion and the cobb salad was huge. The waitress never came back to check on us or offer addl drinks. She came back when she saw the empty plates at the edge of the table. We asked for split checks to which she added my friends wine to my ticket. There were only 2 ppl at the table and the salad and the wine glass were in front of my friend. It was not difficult to split the bill. Duh. I didn't even mention it. Gave our cards to the waitress and she came back and dropped off the receipts and guess what .. no pen. How are we supposed to sign? Where is this persons mind at? We waived her down and final got a pen. Service is almost non existent. Sad because the food is good. Slow slow service. I would not go back unless I was doing To Go order.

Well above average franchise operation

By Kevin M |

Some friends and I do a "guys night out" at a different restaurant every week and Rockfish is always well-attended when we eat here once a month. There's something for everyone from healthy choices like grilled salmon and fresh veggies to tasty but not so healthy choices like plenty of fried seafood and really good desserts. Prices are reasonable, the service is good and the kitchen always does a good job. A barrel of free peanuts awaits you at the front door and it gets better from there.

always very tasty and pleasing

By gyzngalz |

i've been to rockfish grill, a chain, several times in dallas and am always glad to have a meal or two there no matter how short the trip. it is surprisingly tasty - this past visit i had the cold shrimp remoulade and it was as good as most any i have had anywhere.

Varied menu

By Katiebug38 |

We have visited Rockfish many times over the years. They have outdoor dining , unlimited peanuts to shell, and consistent service. The lunch specials are a good buy and the bar offers many options including happy hour. The staff is friendly and welcoming and the menu provides many ways for seafood lovers (or not!) to enjoy the menu. The location is convenient and the restaurant is well maintained and the prices reasonable.

Tasty Friday dinner

By jonahNJ |

We went here for dinner on a Friday night. The restaurant was pretty busy and we were provided a notification device; the wait was only 10 minutes. The service was very good throughout the meal. I started with a bowl of the Louisiana gumbo which was very good with a nice amount of spice and shrimp. For my entree, I went with the Cobb salad with blackened shrimp and a buttermilk dressing. The salad was good, however the shrimp appeared to only be sautéed, not blackened. Still, I enjoyed the generous sized salad. This is a fairly large restaurant which was very clean with a very good staff. There is ample free parking adjacent to the restaurant. While there is an outdoor patio, it was far too hot to eat outside when we visited. For slightly cool nights, there is a nice large fireplace by the outdoor seating area. All in all, this was a nice light meal with fairly reasonable prices.

Don't go here hungry

By nat1225 |

Our latest complaint about restaurants that have both raised prices and cut the portion size. I am fine with one but not both. Profit margins are one thing but restaurants need to remember that most are built on return customers. Rockfish is a case in point. A while back they stopped including a salad with your entree. Recently they raised prices which is fine but reducing portion size at the same time is not. They now charge $1 more if you want salad as a side. If they advertised "reduced portions" then at least long time customers would know that in advance.

This was a suprise

By Audie DSouza |

What can you have for less than 10$ a head. The business lunch. It's simple. One grilled/fried/baked fish, mixed herb rice and veggies. There was a selection of 4 dishes and we ended up having all of them - there were 4 of us. For the money a honest day's meal.

Great staff and tasty fish sandwich

By Jaci T |

I went here for once for pre-Xmas holidays celebration(2010) and again on my going away lunch when my contract ended in September (2011). I like munching on the peanuts before the meal arrives. The wait staff was super friendly, and the food was great. I had a grilled cod sandwich (blackened) with fries. It had a very tasty/spicy (mustardy-horseradish) sauce that really enhanced the flavor. I'm not a big seafood fan, but this place is definitely at the top of seafood establishments that I would go to. It's always very busy at lunch, so that's a good sign of good service/food.

The "Cheers" of local restaurants

By Joemontx |

This place is amazing. In addition to having fresh seafood and great service, they go out of their way to get to know you. From the hostess to the restaurant manager who visits the table to the general manager who comes to shake your hand. They care about you and are passionate about their food. I just tried their fish and chips and it was very yummy. Hand battered, fresh cod under a simple layer of batter. Good stuff to pair with one of their ice cold beers on tap. I'm a fan and I'll be back.

Good Oysters

By wanderbug123 |

We were here with some friends for dinner before a movie. Oysters were ordered and were large and quite good. My salad was fresh and was very tasty. My husband ordered the catfish which was OK, but a bit overpriced for catfish. Even so, he liked it. Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. Our meal was served in a timely manner and were were finished in plenty of time to see our movie. I would recommend this place to anyone..excellent food, great service but a bit pricey.

Long Lunch

By wendyquest |

As a member of their mailing list, I received a coupon for BOGO entree deal, so I stopped by at lunch. The restaurant was a little busy but was seated right away. It took over 10 minutes before the waitress came over to greet us. By then we were ready to order. It took another 30 minutes before we received our meal. I will say the portions on the Cajun Trio entree are large. The lunch-sized fried shrimp basket was just average. I think the hushpuppies are on the small side. The cocktail sauce has a nose-clearing bite to it (which some people might not like). The restroom needed some maintenance but was accommodating for wheelchairs/walkers. Overall, the meal was ok but I wouldn't come here for lunch again - it takes too long.

God food fast but nothing special at this location

By JParlante |

I stopped in for a healthy lunch. Cedar plank salmon with shrimp and salsa topping with mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach was a good amount to eat.The fish was cooked well and the salsa added some kick.

Good seafood selections

By KayK0512 |

Reliable, not fancy, pretty good service. We probably eat here for dinner once every few months. I like the crab cakes, and the appetizer portion works fine for me. My husband often gets the special fish of the day, usually grilled.

Food and Service Improve

By texaswillie |

We took family to this location for dinner on a rainy Friday night. Had to wait a few minutes as all seating was full. The food was very good this evening as was the service. We had a variety of seafood with me having the steamed special which was $21. The crab legs had been frozen and were rather small although on a scale of 1 to 10 these were around a 6 or 7, therefore good. Everyone enjoyed their food that evening. Wish they would get some fresh peanuts as the ones they now have are rather old. Everyone is talking a lot in the restaurant thus the place is a little noisy. All in all an enjoyable meal and evening.

Go Go Go! Fishtastic! And Non-Fishtastic!

By VacationRuint |

Best food, best staff. Visit!! They have awesome lunch specials too. Great place for any occasion. Very nice party room that is private and seats 50ish ppl. Plenty of menu items for non-fish lovers! Everyone there really seems to love their job!

Has potential, but...

By Ken M |

We met family here for dinner, and it seemed empty for a weekend night. Our dinner was good, but nothing special. Had the fresh salmon, which was there for a limited time reportedly. Sides were good and service was ok. There was just something missing.

Great food. Creative and excellent ways to prepare and present fish. Service is good and prices are okay. Arrive early or late to avoid the rush.

Don’t look at Trip Advisor menu

By Coffee Queen 73 |

I had looked over menu before going and all of the items I had wanted were not on the menu. Everything on the menu I can get back home. I wanted really great fish or scallops but they had neither. I’m from SE Texas and we already have some of the best Cajun and Tex-Mex. I opted for the appetizer fried green tomato and salmon stacks. It was good, not great.

Didn't want to cook tonight.

By JoJo G |

Rockfish is always a steady and predictable option. The atmosphere appeals to me with its "lake theme." The free peanuts work as a no-cost appetizer. If you catch Happy Hour, you'll enjoy good pricing on the basics of beer and OK wine. The best part is that I can choose menu items from healthy to decadent.

Food good; service no so good

By Kam R |

Seating was immediate by a friendly hostess. Typical sports bar noise, which is expected; but, not so noisy that it was bothersome. To start with, I ordered coffee with cream. For dinner I ordered the Surf and Turf. Our server asked if I wanted the flat iron (as stated on the menu), or a rib eye. I selected the rib eye. I asked for extra cream, since the coffee tasted like a bold roast. Even though the food was tasty, I ordered my steak medium rare which came out well done. I ordered a side of 3 jumbo shrimp. I have put bigger bait on my fish-hook! Extra cream never appeared (server got too busy), so I sent the cold coffee back. Coffee was taken off our check, but I was surprised to see a $6 added cost to my meal. I found out later the rib eye is $6 more than the menu price. Server should have told us as much when dinners were ordered.

Popular Seafood Grill

By TexasAg69 |

Perhaps Good Friday was not the best choice to review a seafood grill as it was probably one of the busiest days of the year for this type of restaurant. This was a lunch for extended family and most of the family were satisfied. Staff did as good a job as could be expected with the crowd they had. My wife and I both had "fresh" Tilapia. Hers was fine, mine was tough and tasted bad. They replaced it with another serving and manager apologized and they took most of the charge for my meal off the bill.

Amazing Catfish

By James W |

I am not a seafood person, but most seafood places serve catfish. Rockfish is among the best! I had incredible catfish as well as amazing brussel sprouts as a side (you do have other options if you don't like them!). Our waiter was fantastic - very attentive without being in the way. Very enjoyable Sunday after church dinner experience!

Great Shrimp and Grits

By BWinkz |

The restaurant looks kind of small but has large booths and a welcoming atmosphere. The Margaritas a huge and reasonably delicious. Everything we tried from app to dessert was great...the shrimp and grits and snapper with seafood cream sauce was amazing. This place is now one of my favorite weekend restaurants, oh and they have great mimosa specials on Sundays for brunch.

Good Seafood, Reasonable Price, A Little Loud

By debshinder |

This was my first time at this Rockfish, and I'd only been to another in the chain once before, many years ago. Given this was in an area of Richardson where there's a lot of "nightlife," I shouldn't have been surprised that the atmosphere was generally a little louder and more "hopping" than I prefer. Service was fine. Nothing special, but the server was friendly and although the wait was a little long, I imagine that had to do with the crowd. The food was hot when it arrived, though. I had mahi mahi, with mashed sweet potatoes and green beans. It was all good, and the fish portion was pretty large - I ended up taking half home. I wouldn't have minded if the sweet potato portion had been a little larger. All in all, it was a good experience. The only real negative was that the restaurant was difficult to get to, due to construction work on the street it's on, but that's a temporary condition. I would go here again.

Dinner while traveling

By James B |

After traveling, being late and hungry this place was a welcome find. Staff was helpful in recommendations, very friendly. Food seemed prepared fresh, flavorful, and the price was what I thought very reasonable.

Great Place to Eat

By Helen H |

If you love seafood at reasonable prices, this is a great place to eat. We had a friendly waiter and enjoyed every minute of our dinner. I would highly recommend this for anyone who loves seafood.

Never disappoints, always delicious

By yWould-I-Lie |

This location is outstanding in customer service and always has a new item on the menu to liven up your palate. I can usually make a meal on one of the yummy appetizers before ordering my main course, it's best I split it. For Easter brunch, it was the deviled eggs topped with blackened shrimp! You would have thought you were in the French Quarter, yummmmy. Brunch items are always especially flavorful, but through the week, they also have lunch under 10 and all your southern favorites served with healthy, yet very tasty veggie sides. He patio area is great for happy hour which starts early on Wednesday and Saturday. This location just added a room for larger groups and can serve up something delicious to everyone. Special parking is designated for seniors with plenty of other parking for all. Being partial to seafood is not required, they also serve up other options according to their seasonal menu. Ya gotta try the fried green tomato stacker of the day! You will be hooked😎👍🏼

Monthly Meetings

By Evelyn U |

Our senior groups meets in their private dining room once a month. The room has doors so we can conduct our meeting without distrubing the guests in the main dining room. There usually are between 15-20 people and we are always served promptly. The menu has enough variety for everyone without being overwhelming, The wait staff is very accomadating when we ask to change/exchange something that comes on our meal for something else.

Excellent Value Fresh Fish

By Alan M |

Rockfish is a great seafood restaurant serving variations of Cajun style dinners. The barrel of fresh peanuts on entry sets a very casual atmosphere and expectation. The half price wine (Wednesday and Saturday!) and the very reasonably priced dinners make this an affordable local (and frequent) place for dinner.

Nice Lunch With Good Food and Service

By texaswillie |

We head back to this Rockfish location for another lunch since we are meeting another couple at that time. There are free peanuts in the shell that you can take with you back to your table. Get a bucket as you enter the restaurant.Promptly seated (got the last table). The waiter (Tyler) took our drink order promptly and was back in a flash. Ordered the clam chowder which came out hot and full of clams. Very good clam chowder. Ordered the fired oysters and got about 8 ounces but I don’t think I could actually say it was eight oysters, as it was more like eight pieces. Some had been cut into halves. The oysters were acceptable but certainly a long way from being outstanding. Had the steamed asparagus with the oysters---what a combination. The asparagus was excellent as it was crisp and tender. No sauce on the asparagus, just the eight spears. Another ordered the lunch size mango tilapia and she tells me it was delicious. Another had the half po’boy (fried oysters) and half bow of gumbo. I was advised it was delicious. Then the last in the party ordered the crab stuffed flounder. The food looked good and was very good. For desert we ordered the cranberry cream brulee. Came in large brulee bowl with the cranberries on the bottom of the bowl. It was very good. Good food and great service as the water and tea glasses were kept topped at all times. The restaurant was crowed for lunch however we lingered around after the lunch crowd left and almost had the place to ourselves by 2PM.

Great food, in times of Carona Virus

By TexasJimNo1 |

Although eating in the car is not my favorite, the food was awesome. Every dish we have had here is very tasty. I had chicken with artichoke and broccoli as a side. Donna had blackened tillipia with crab cakes and Pontchartrain Sauce. It requires a bit of maneuvering to eat in the car, but the smell is very inspiring, due to the small space. Rockfish Seafood Grill is one of our favorites!

Something fishy going on

By PlanoTravler |

Barimundi was the special on Valentines Day. We ran in for a quick pre Catch Me If You Can dinner. So we bit and ordered the special along with the tuna wanton nachos The nachos came as promised as requested on cucumber instead of fried chips. Very tasty. The fish on the other hand tasted like it came from an aquarium. Fish should smell like the ocean and not like well old fish. They took it off the bill. The only consistent item I ever have seems to be the Pecan crusted trout. The sides are very uninspiring. Why must a restsraunt think that asparagus are needed year round. They are out of season, how about kale or beets? Not too sure about another visit. Too many good Dallas places to eat.

Family Gathering

We had a birthday celebration for my wife's niece, at this location, and I understand we had a large party, but only one waiter for 24 people isn't going to cut it. Most of our plates were lukewarm at best and the seasoning was not up to par. The desserts were bland, not what you would expect for the price.

I probably won't go back

By Likeness |

We have been eating at this restaurant for years. The last couple of times, the food has been off. They have their reliable staples like the hush puppies, bread pudding, and the crab bisque that are good. This last time, I had the Copper River Salmon on a bed of brussell sprouts and sweet potato. This salmon only comes around for a limited time and is expensive. The brussell sprouts and sweet potatoes were so bad, I could not eat them. They did replace them with cole slaw and creamed corn. The slaw was bad also. I am not even going to tell you how much we paid for this really bad dinner. It was way too much. We will probably never go back.

Good seafood at a reasonable price

We have eaten here before about a year or more ago and seems like the quality has slipped a little. It is still very good but the food seemed a little mushy (I had stuffed flounder). The stuffing was mostly bread and the portions were rather small. It is a nice place and I am sure that it just happened is unique to this visit. I won't hesitate to come back. Service is good. Parking is convenient and the food is very good (with this one exception and I am sure if I had said something it would have been replaced.)

Disappointed

By RichDar |

Met UTD friend there. Greeted pleasantly good service. Split oysters half shell not tasty and consistency close to mushy. Ate and fortunately no gastric after effects. Had Lobster over green tomato, lobster dry. We went here as convenient, been before usually Average today worse. Will not return. Best Seafood is Fish n Tails Richardson highly recommend it

Awesome seafood

By TexasJimNo1 |

We have never been disappointed with our seafood here. We just had Fried Shimp Saturday evening. It was truly awesome. Clifton, our waiter was very efficient and made us feel welcome. Great atmosphere and truly awesome food!

Best trout

Delicious blackened or grilled served over rice. I substituted a salad for one side dish. Yummy. One day I'll branch out and try something else. DH loves red beans and rice and sweet potatoes for side dish.

Back in the Game?

It has been a couple of months since I have dined at the Rockfish Seafood Grill in Dallas (borders Richardson). I had felt that the quality of there food had gone down over the last couple of years. Ended up meeting some friends there and was pleasantly surprised to see that there was a huge improvement over my last visit. Your always greeted fast, and munch on some complimentary peanuts if you have to wait. Our server was quick, efficient, and actually got my drink order in just before happy hour closed. The menu has been reworked some, but contains the same classics. I like the way that you can select the cut of fish, choose the cooking method, and add any sauce of their making. The Blackened Mahi that I had was cooked to perfection, and had a bit more bite to the spice which I like. Drinks and service were prompt, and there wasn't a mistake splitting up our bill. I will definitely head back, since I like fish and seafood a lot. The Rockfish will make it back into our rotation.

Back To Rockfish

By texaswillie |

We had not dined here in a while and decided to go back again since it's in the neighborhood. The place is usually crowded at lunch time on week days. You can get served fairly quickly thus a good place for workers to have lunch within an hour. We had fish and it was very good. There are options available on the kinds of fish you desire and the way they are prepared. Look for the big blackboard or ask the waiter for the specials. These change every day or so. All in all this is still good location for seafood.

Excellent Fish at an affordable price

By Funplace7 |

Rockfish is one of our favorite restaurants. It serves excellent salmon and seafood enchiladas. Our favorite thing however is their soups - jalapeno and crab bisque. Both soups are exceptional. We also love the appetizer sample. I would recommend ordering two soups and the sample. It's enough to feed two people. The atmosphere is causal, you can even throw your peanut shells on the ground. The only problem is the number of TVs around the bar (you can see them everywhere) and sometimes the restaurant is noisy.

Great fish - Fabulous hush puppies

By John-Galt-Of-Dallas |

Try the shrimp and grits - great overall savory dish. Seafood platter with fried catfish and grilled shrimp. Loved the buttery sauce, could've had that with any crab or lobster. The shrimp could've actually been fresh, it tasted so good. If you've never tried hush puppies - this is the place to do so. Tremendous flavor and moist. If you just want to try one, ask your server - they'll get you one.

OMG, So Good!

Went here after Painting with a Twist, and we're so glad we did! On a Saturday afternoon at around 5pm, the place was busy but without a wait. We ordered the chicken Penne pasta and the Cajun Combo. The pasta was fresh, as was the chicken, and the sauce was delicious. Hearty portion too. The Cajun Combo was much more skimpy but delicious as well. So good, in fact, that we almost ordered a second one. We also ordered the bread pudding -monster portion- and the pralines Creme-Brulee. Both were to die for, though the pralines were gummy from the moisture from sitting at the bottom of the custard. Service was excellent and food was delivered promptly. Overall, good food, good prices and good ambience. The place filled up pretty fast as the evening wore on, but when we left there was no wait still. Great place. Will definitely be back! Tip: If you like tea, order their peach tea. Best danged tee this side of the Mississippi!

Great Seafood, great service, reasonably priced

By Daniel K |

This is the second Rockfish location we ate at this week, came here because the first one was so good. This one was equally as good. Great combination Cajun seafood platter, everything done perfectly, and what sauces!! @ $15.99 it was a real value. My wife had the Seafood Gumbo ($5.99)and it was delicious. Extra white rice cooked perfectly was $1.99 for a generous portion. Add 2 coffees @ 2.69 and the total came to $29.35 before tax & tip. The service was prompt and attentive. Seating on a Tuesday night was instant. The service. Restaurant atmoshphere was quiet with a few tv's scattered around the bar area, but not turned up loud enough to impair conversation at your table. We really enjoyed our visit and have put this place on our list of really good casual restaurants.

This is a great place to...

This is a great place to take the family for some affordable seafood. The salads are very good, although they tend to be a bit salty and heavy. The entree portions are just right for a hungry appetite.

Great food & atmosphere

By java27 |

This was one of our favorite restaurants. The selection was great. You get to pick your fresh seafood, then choose how you want it prepared. There are also many spices...firecracker shrimp was our favorite!! The salads were fresh, and dessert was amazing. We thought the staff was friendly and efficient. It was very reasonably priced, and we left FULL!!

Nice setting, good food, excellent lunch specials

By Texas Dave |

This has been a great place to have lunch. Large, so there is no wait for a table. The food is excellent and the lunch specials are fairly priced. Service is good with friendly professional waiters and waitresses. You can get in and out quickly if needed or linger. Had an excellent staff meeting here. It is quiet enough to hear the others at your table.

The restaurant was convenient to the office. The wait was short. The waiter was very friendly and brought our food out quickly We had seafood enchiladas and they were very good.

Great place too eat

By Only1Tonia |

The food here was great! We had a great tilapia dish with orzo and asparagus and it was better tasting than what Red Lobster serves and cheaper. We also had dessert, the bread pudding which was served hot and it was delicious. The service here was excellent. I would definitely go again and tell anyone who is in the area to stop by.

Very Nice Lunch

By texaswillie |

We met some friends at this Rockfish location today. I ordered the fried oysters, and I know they are no in season, however I ordered anyway. They came out cooked just right and the taste was fine. I think I made a good choice. Others in the party ordered the grilled tilapia with spinach. The spinach was loaded with salt and the party did not eat it. Others ordered the seafood platter and the stuffed fish. Both said the meal was fine. My order came with lots of fries. Service was quick and the order accurate. The restaurant was not that crowded as the noon lunch crowd had apparently already left to go back to work. The meal was good however I cannot say it was outstanding.

Casual & Fast

By trophywest |

Seafood with a southern flare. If you like blackened fish, they have quite a bit. You can also creat your own with a half dozen fish selections then a choice of different toppings: Pecan, Oscar style, Tropical style, or Pontchartrain. My wife had the tilapia Oscar & I had the seafood enchiladas (not fishy tasting). The food was good & service was fast.

Good Service and Great Food

By wblu |

Stopped in for lunch while on business trip to Dallas, parking is challenging at this location but once found the restaurant is a great place for lunch, THe specials are good, well prepared and seasoned and the service is fast and friendly. Prices are reasonable and food very good. THis is the second Rockfish I have been to when traveling to the DFW area and both occasions at both locations were very good.

dine-in, carryout, or curbside

By Bill W |

This location is offering dine-in service now (at limited capacity, spaced-out seating to respond to the coronavirus regulations). Different types of fish are available with different types of seasoning options as well. I tried the North Atlantic salmon - tasty and prepared nicely. Also other seafood available. The restaurant also offers a full bar with specialty cocktails, beer and other beverages.
