Awesome Shrimp

By Donald W |

We heard of this through a person sharing our elevator. Said the food was off the hook. He did not steer us wrong. Great quiet atmosphere with excellent service. Try the shrimp dish. Three jumbo shrimp cooked to perfection and better than lobster. The Tiramisu is lovely. Sergio is the owner and takes pride in everything they do. Highly recommend this to those who want a quieter more elegant venue in the Gas lamp district.

Pasta with an Italian flavour

By Giacomo S |

My wife and I ordered spaghetti straw and hay and a plate of tagliolini with lemon cream and prawns. Generous portions, fair price and really great flavor! Just a note from personal taste, I would have avoided the cream in the tagliolini. Very kind waiter and also available to dedicate a few minutes of his precious time to us. I would go back without a doubt!

Great Find downtown San Diego

Good atmosphere and fantastic food. Located downtown San Diego and would recommend to anyone. And the deserts were the highlight of our trip.

A True Taste of Italy

By Laura S |

I have been missing the authentic Italian cuisine that I experienced in Italy last year. I hadn’t quite been able to find a restaurant that was TRULY authentic. Then I read the reviews for Roma Mia while visiting San Diego for a business trip, and decided to check it out. I’m so glad that I did. I only ordered the First & Second courses, along with dessert. If you truly want a taste of Italy, I highly recommend this restaurant.

we had parked across the street and we decided to try Roma Mia, we went inside and we were welcomed in italian and very nicely we were seated in a nice table, the server was also was very accomodating and sold very well the menu. The soup was good, my ravioli were nice but too few, and we had a second plate and it was much better. The tiramisu was nice, we have had better. All in all, the place is nice and service is worth trying it again.

Italian Gem in Little Italy

By Linda D |

After an evening at the Mad House Comedy Club we wandered down the block to Roma Mia for a late dinner. Cute outdoor tables with heat lamps above for cooler evenings. Beautifully decorated indoors. The service was attentive and helpful. Pastas are made fresh. I had the fettuccine bolognese, so tender and delicious. My husband had spaghetti alla vongole, little baby clams. A favorite of his and one of the best he’s had. Dessert was a kind of deconstructed creme brûlée, amazing! Not many reviews for Roma Mia but they deserve true success for all the care & obvious attention they put in. Go! You won’t be disappointed.

Dinner

After the concierge at our hotel, the Pendry recommended a Italian restaurant in Little Italy which was only fair, we started to check out other options. Right in our neighborhood we found a wonderful restaurant, Roma Mia on fourth avenue. It is run by the Chef /Owner, Alessandro who trained in Rome. We had pasta in clam sauce and chicken saltimboca as well as octopus and eggplant parmigian. Everything was fresh and excellent.

Delicioso!

I would’ve given a 4 1/2 if I could. The ambiance & music was lovely. The wine, & food was delicious. We were greeted with welcoming smiles. Our only complaint is that the waiter did not write down our order & didn’t ask our friend how he would like his meat cooked. It ended up being a little more well-done than he would have liked. I ordered the eggplant Parmesan, but asked to have linguine instead of spaghetti, and no melted cheese on top. Neither of those requests were met. In any event, my eggplant was cooked perfectly, as was the pasta, and the red sauce was delicious. My husband‘s chicken piccata was perfect. All in all, it was a lovely and delicious dinner. I would definitely recommend!

I ate dinner here while in San Diego and ordered the lobster Ravioli. The service was quick and the food was very good. This is a good option is your looking to hand with friends and just a solo meal.

Dinner Date

After reading raving reviews about this restaurant, we decided to make the reservation. The waitress had to be new, I’ll give them that. The food was marginal at best. The atmosphere was just ok, not romantic, tight seating. Time to take down the fake poinsettia plants, Christmas is over. Don’t be fooled by reviews! We learned a big lesson.

Authentic Italian in the Gaslamp! Enjoyed!

We really enjoyed our evening at Roma Mia. Nice and inviting ambiance. Our server, Sergio, was terrific and from Rome himself. My wife started off with the burrata and prosciutto which she loved. The burrata was the real thing vs. it being claimed to be burrata but it is just mozzarella. I had the octopus with a pesto base and some greens. The octopus was very tender and the pesto added a nice flavor. For entrees we both had a pastas. My wife had the ravioli with mushrooms and I had the carbonara. Both were really tasty! We will return. Highly recommend!

Best Italian food ever!

We had the best time last night at Roma Mia! Food was soooo good and the waiter had a sense of humor that kept us all laughing. Would go there again over and over!

Great food and atmosphere

This is a great place to gather with friends and family. The food is excellent and the owner is very warm and welcoming. We ordered the steak with mushrooms, the spaghetti bolognese, and caccio e Pepe. The desserts were also tremendous — delicious cannolis and tiramisu.

An outstanding dinner

Looked at several reviews before decided to go to Roma Mia. It turned out to be one of the best meal my wife and I had in a long time. Asked recommendations from our several choices on the menu and we were not disappointed with the advice given. Excellent server and staff. Even got introduced to the chef. For appetizer we ordered the Prosciutto di parma e mozzarella di bufala. It was great and already found the mozzarella at the local market. For the main courses we shared the Spaghetti alle vongole (clams, garlic, parsley, white wine, olive oil) and a fantastic pepper steak. The flavors were delightful, the pasta was outstanding and truly fresh. My wife is not a fan of Tiramisu but she knows I like it, so at the urging of our server we decided to try it. All I can say is that it was the best ever and HUGE portion. When next time we are back in San Diego we will defiantly be returning to this restaurant. This place made us feel like were back in Rome.

Love it

Roma Mia San Diego

The food was nice. The service was really poor. Waiter seemed to forget we were in the restaurant. Had to take our order twice. Had to be asked to bring bread to the table 3 times before we got it. They don't seem to know how to pull a pint either. Nice food, but I would not go back.
