Good food at Roman Cucina! Relaxed and fun!

By TexasGal97 |

A great meal at Roman Cochina while traveling and visiting friends. The ladies in our group enjoyed our meals at Roman Cucina - delicious food that included meatballs as a starter and warm bread. The eggplant parmigiana with rosa sauce, as suggested by Julian, the waiter, was a unique twist on an old favorite. Another traveler tried the pasta primavera with veggies. We also ordered to go meals for some in our group who did not want to go out to eat. All were packaged artfully. They enjoyed the food too! Julian and the backup staff provided excellent service and were friendly. Prices were reasonable. We would return. Relaxed and fun, like your "nonnie" made it.

Impromptu visit

Rolled into town for some car shopping and decided to treat ourselves to a victory dinner. Loved the cozy atmosphere and delicious food. Bonus was half off all bottles of wine - beautiful Italian Chianti. This place will definitely be on my list for the next Dallas trip!!!

Just ok

By Donna |

This was a nice dinner. I’m traveling for work and was looking for an Italian restaurant, and this was the choice so I’m happy with it. I can’t say it was by far the best or worst I’ve ever had, but it was good. I had the Italian Wedding soup, which was very hot and good, then had penne pasta with a rose cream sauce and Italian sausage in it. I will look at other Italian options when I come back to Dallas, but wouldn’t mind coming back here either.

Excellent Food, and Large Portions

By Anthony A |

After striking out with a number of other Italian restaurants over the years in the Dallas area, we saw that Roman Cucina received very good reviews and decided to give it a try. Service was very good - attentive without being pushy - and the atmosphere was comfortable. We both had the Italian Wedding Soup, which was extremely flavorful, and the sausage lasagna. We both recommend the sausage, which is just spicy enough to be tasty without leaving a strong aftertaste. The restaurant has quite the family feel about it, but couples won't feel uncomfortable dining here.

Best Italian in Dallas

By ScottH9848 |

We live right around the corner from this gem so we frequent it often. It's only open for dinner but the word is definitely out and this place can get busy. What sets this place apart is the FOOD. It's phenomenal Italian. We have never experienced anything less than stellar service and it really is amazing how they transformed the interior of the place from what it was. Go- i promise you won't regret it!

1st try

Pretty good, no Kenny's Italian but dishes are tasty portions are big and staff is friendly...I'm in for 3 1/2 stars

Great Italian; superb service; nice atmosphere!

By Bill W |

My first visit ever here was absolutely stellar. Very friendly greeting upon entering; courteous server after being seated. An indication to me of what was in store - the upholstered booth seats were all shiny & polished & clean; indicative to me of care and attention to detail. I ordered their pasta bolognese - offered with choice of penne, spaghetti or fettuccine; nice portion size and very delicious. I cleaned the plate. This entree was served with a house salad (as well as warm bread to kick things off). Multiple servers were continually walking by and unobstrusively observing how I was doing throughout my meal; great service. To top things off, they were playing Rat Pack and Elvis music - how can you beat that? Will have to try their desserts next visit. They also offer outdoor covered seating. Highly recommend.

Average Italian joint

Went to Roman Cucina after read about being rated in top 10 restaurants in Richardson. Decor , patio and bar was great but felt that food was average. Huge quantity and fantastic service but unfortunately food was not exceptional.

Long awaited real Italian Family restaurant for the Richardson/North Dallas Area

By Julie D |

Have been to this restaurant 4 times to date. It has never disappointed us. The eggplant parmigiano is excellent and the caprese salad is a favorite. The other pasta dishes are equally as appealing, and they have specials which vary the choices. You can make reservations if you have six in your party and on the weekends that may be a good choice. This is a family owned restaurant which is a refreshing alternative to the chains that inundate the area.

Great experience.

By M D |

I liked the positive experience but unfortunately could only go once. The service is very good and the food was prepared listening and adapting to our demands. I loved the photographs everywhere and the white and red squared tablecloths. I would definitely go back when returning to Dallas.

Wonderful Italian Spot in North Dallas

By Gordon D |

Roman Cucina - Benvenuti nel quartiere! Welcome to the neighborhood! I've been meaning to write a review on this spot for months. We've been as a family (four of us) and as a couple on a number of occasions. So, I guess it's obvious we love the place! It may not be the place you want to drive to from 40 minutes away, but if you life in the Coit/Belt Line vicinity, this place is a must try! Atmosphere Don't let the fact that this was once a Taco Bell mislead you. The ownership has created a very charming environment. The art, pics on the walls, interesting flooring, and perfect lighting really create ambiance if you're calling on this spot for a date. There is kind of a patio area, but we have never eaten out there. Service While I love everything about this place, the very best part has been the service. From the moment you step in, it's clear the management and staff want for you everything to be just right. Whoever is training the staff is doing a super job. Food It's very, very, good. We've tried a lot of the dishes and none has been bad so far. Their specials are reliably good and change nightly. The fresh-baked loaf of bread they bring to the table is wonderful. As some have noted, the crust is hearty. I suppose if you wear dentures or something, it may be a bit much. The hearty bread fits well with the menu they offer. They have all sorts of traditional Italian fare as well as some good sandwich options. This isn't a place where you're likely to encounter experimental dishes. Generally, they are going to present tried-and-true Italian dishes that will be prepared just so. Bar There is a bar in one part of the restaurant. Never sat at the bar, but there does usually seem to be a pretty steady crowd hanging out there. Summary My wife and I like really good Italian food. Many places that fellow Dallasites have recommended, we've found to be. . .well. . .meh. Nothing special. Roman Cucina is different. It's a great place to scratch your Italian food itch! One of the reasons I really love this place is that it was the location of a true family breakthrough. My kids both enjoy the Olive Garden - but my wife and I need more than the flavorless, uninspired, fare they offer up. The first time we brought our kids to this spot, they both agreed that they liked it better than OG. Score! So, it's our new go-to Italian spot for family outings. Thank you Roman Cucina! Normally on a newer spot like this one I would say "I hope this place makes it," but the future looks bright as it's always been busy when we've gone.

Consistently Good

By Mark M from Dallas |

This is a great neighborhood Italian restaurant! We happened upon it about 3 years ago and have never been disappointed. The wait staff are mostly teens, but they are incredibly well trained. Very reasonable cocktail and wine prices. Their wines by the glass are generally priced at $6.00, $8.00 and $11.00. Bottle prices are good too. Their pasta dishes are all fantastic, and the portion sizes are huge. They come with a house salad that is always cold, crisp and dressed just right. Excellent chicken parm too. A regular stop for whenever we're thinking Italian!

Great Italian food

By Eric |

My family and I go here all the time. It is an excellent Italian meal with no pizza. It is as close to authentic Italian as I have had since my last to to Italy. I highly recommend this place whenever you are in the mood for Italian.

Nice Find

By Mark M from Dallas |

I had read about Roman Cucina in an article about under the radar restaurants. Turns out the place has been around for awhile, and I'm glad we tried it. It's a casual, neighborhood kind of place. They have a full bar. The wine list isn't the best in town, but the prices are modest. Our waitress was willing to get me a taste of the wine I wanted to try before I buy, and it was a pretty nice little cab for $7.00. We ordered drinks and were brought some nice crusty bread to snack on. Entrees come with soup or salad so we didn't order an appetizer. The salad was good, and fresh, with the right amount of dressing. We both ordered pasta dishes, as we normally do the first time we try a new Italian place. You get your choice of penne, spaghetti or fettuccine, and then you pick from a pretty extensive list of preparations. I had the Pasta Tambrello, with spicy sausage and penne, and my wife had the Primavera with penne. Both were large portions and both were really good! We were too stuffed for dessert. Service was very good. Our waitress was friendly, professional and knowledgable. We will definitely go back to Roman Cucina.

Group Dinner - everyone was impressed

By Kinsey W |

I went there as part of a large group, which has it plus and minuses. It was pretty crammed trying to sit in a booth with a table added to the end, it's hard to get comfortable and enjoy your dinner. We're also big bread eaters and kept having to ask and ask and ask for more bread, it took a while to get it from the oven. The salads were good, everyone ordered something different for an entree and loved it. The eggplant parmigiana was good, the pesto spaghetti, the ravioli, the lasagna, the daily special -- all good. Get the tiramisu for dessert, it's the best. The service was all very good, I would definitely go back.

Newest Italian entry in mediocre Italian food

By Michael W |

Recently visited this newish restaurant with a large group, so I got a chance to see how many different entres came out. Mine was OK, but nothing to write home about, and others said the same thing. The price point is not low. Spaghetti dishes were around $12, for example. I admit that it's hard to find great Italian food in Dallas. It's not like Little Italy in New York or Boston. But I really don't like overpaying for mediocrity.

Not worth the time.

By Hank31 |

This Italian style restaurant was a serious disappointment. In our party of six, no one wanted to return. The short menu was illegibly printed (about 6 point type) on what initially we took for a place mat. The offerings were pasta-heavy, with very few non-pasta entrees. Service was friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable, but couldn't make up for the food. The best part of the meal was their excellent bread. Salads were acceptable. The one soup had a well-flavored broth, but half the volume was a white, tasteless, pasta-like mush that resembled hominy grits. Most entrees were not warm enough. Prices greatly exceeded value. There are several first-rate Italian restaurants in the area, but this was not one of them.

excellent service and nice atmosphere

By IEEE member |

The food and service were great. I recommend the eggplant parmesan. One of the kids I was with asked for the cheese to be removed from his spaghetti and meatballs, and they quickly produced him a new one without any trouble. I would recommend this place both for business and family outings.

Great neighborhood place

By kfwarren |

Staff is courteous. Bread is warm & fantastic. Pasta is delicious. I ask for "light on the sauce" (pesto). Great to have a really good Italian restaurant within walking distance. We've been at least 4 times since opening. Love the atmosphere & the booths - comfortable modern. Very affordable food & wine.

GREAT ITALIAN FOOD!!! 🍝

By jennanoelle |

This restaurant is amazing!!!!! Great service and amazing food I highly recommend it. My favorite is the pasta with the rosa sauce. Salad is amazing and at the end you have to get the cheesecake and cannoli. This service is awesome and so kind!!!! Love it and will definitely be back!!!!! 🍝🇮🇹👍🏼

A great pick.

By TLM1202 |

We've eaten here 3 times since they opened and had different meals each time. The food is some of the best Italian we've had. We always took home as much as we ate and the leftovers were great too. The wait staff are excellent. Already one of the neighborhood favorites shown by the crowds every time we've gone.

Not worth it!

By Kam R |

This is not a restaurant I would recommend. Where do I begin? My boyfriend and I were greeted with a friendly smile, and seated immediately. From there it went downhill. I enjoy Italian bread, but the crust on their garlic bread was not only difficult to pull apart, but even more difficult to try to eat. My boyfriend pulled out the soft section of the middle to eat; I waited and soaked mine in the soup. The sautéed mushrooms were not as expected. Most restaurants we frequent use fresh mushrooms. What I received was a dish of warmed, canned mushrooms that had so much lemon on them I could not detect even a hint of garlic. When I ordered my main course dish, I preferred the house salad over the soup. So, I asked what my choice of dressing would be. The waiter informed me I had no choice, the salad was only served with a red wine vinaigrette dressing. I cannot believe a restaurant only offers one type of salad dressing. I opted for the Italian wedding soup – pleasant, though very salty. Shrimp scampi was my main dish, served over fettuccine. Once again, the lemon overwhelmed any other flavors this dish may have offered. Service was not too bad, but it would have been nice if our waiter would have offered to either warm up or refill my coffee cup at least once during my entire visit. The acoustics are so terrible in this restaurant, one can barely hear what their own dinner partner is saying. We had to wait fifteen minutes to get our check, which seems like a very long time when one is anxious to leave a very noisy establishment. We do not plan on returning to this restaurant even for their buy one dinner and get one at half price specials. Not worth it.

Real Italian food

Old fashioned Italian food at its finest. Daughter and I had the ravioli and chicken parmigiana, so we could sample each one. You won't leave hungry!!

Delicious every time

By motherchristmas61 |

One of my favorite Italian restaurants! Good service! Good food! Hot fresh bread! My favorites are the peach tea, Italian wedding soup, the pepperoni bread. They bring hot fresh bread to your table to start, Which is so good. I've tried a couple of pasta dishes, they have all been good. My son favors the Chicken Parmesan. For those who like a cocktail or wine with dinner, they have a large drink menu. They also have vegan and gluten free offerings. They are only open for dinner. Highly recommend dining there!

I wish it was open for lunch!

By SCM1955 |

We were a group of four and all weWe were a group of four and all were satisfied with the selections. It's not often I find a choice other than beef lasagna and the sausage lasagna was exactly what I wanted. Portions are large so I'm looking forward to left overs tomorrow. The service was attentive and we never had a glass go below half before someone was there to fill it. Michael was our server and was very gracious even when one in the group complained because his glass was filled too often! We will go back.

Top notch!

By nosluap57 |

Two visits several months apart. Both times the food, service, and atmosphere were excellent. Entrees are extremely well prepared and presented, and are always wonderfully hot from the kitchen. Serving sizes are generous, providing a great value. Service has always been friendky, prompt, and not over bearing. They are very knowledgeable about the offerings, and know how to best pair a wine with your selection. I would visit this restaurant more frequently, but I do not love in the local area, but I go there whenever I am in town.

Great Neighborhood Restaurant

By Janet M |

I often order take-out from Roman Cucina and tried dining in for the first time tonight. The service was quick, everyone we encountered was friendly, and the atmosphere was enjoyable. Before the main course you are served bread and each main dish comes with a small salad. The portions on the entrees are huge! I've always been able to stretch them out into two meals. Considering the prices are reasonable, this is a great deal. They also have a nice outdoor patio for warmer nights.

A delightful dinner!

By Jschaf |

I was overall very happy with the service I received at Roman Cucina. The waiters were very friendly and the ambiance of the restaurant was very welcoming. I was very impressed with the calamari and the salads were decent. Out of all the entrees we ordered the eggplant parmesan was by far the best. Although the eggplant was the best I wish it had more eggplant and less pasta. In the end I was very satisfied with my meal although I wish there were more dishes without pasta. I will definitely be back here again.

Unique types of food

By MREPICMAN |

Roman Cucina is a great place because they offer many types of Italian food that other places don't have. For example, the Italian Wedding Soup is really good, and most other restaurants do not sell it.

Great Neighborhood Italian

By jth11110 |

Interesting decor in a setting that is formal enough for a date, while casual enough to bring the kids.

Great Service and Decent Prices

By KTravelNotes |

Had dinner with a friend. The service was great. The portions were huge and prices are reasonable. The bread is fresh-dip it in olive oil once it arrives. I had a hard time choosing what to order! Split of bottle of Rubesto Montepulciano that went well with the pasta dish.

Dinner with my lovely wife

By fab1b |

Our fifth visit tonight and once again another incredible meal with impeccable service! Justin is a great server and an extremely nice guy we were well taken care of. It's our favorite night here...wine Wednesday 1/2 off bottles you can't beat it. Tonight we shared a cab. As always the bruschetta was a must and it was so goooood! For dinner fresh house salads and the ravioli special topped with spinach, mushroom, sausage, and topped with a great tasting olive oil sauce. We both finished it all off with a fresh brewed espresso! We love this place and every visit has been a wonderful experience.

One of my favorites

By BigDTravel |

As you can see from my rating this is one of my favorite places. But I have a warning at the end of the review for you. Tonight I had the pasta bolognese. Although I have been here many times I never ordered this dish in the past. I had it with penne pasta. It was absolutely fantastic. Of course, everything I've ever had at this place is fantastic. I also had the Italian wedding soup, which is probably my favorite soup at any restaurant in town. They bring out fresh bread right out of the oven and it's fantastic. Probably my favorite part of every meal. Although I didn't have it on this trip, I highly recommend the pepperoni garlic bread appetizer. Unbelievably good. Now the warning: there is something about the architecture of this building that makes it very loud. We have sat all over the building and everyplace we sit it's almost too loud to talk. Sometimes it's actually too loud to talk. Tonight was one of those times. It was a Tuesday night and we could not hear a word each other said. Despite that, we will definitely go back. We eat there a couple times a month. It's one of our favorites. You should go, the food is astounding.

Amazing Food

By sonyaj68 |

My son lives very close and this is one of his favorite places. I finally got to go with him and I see why he loves it. We had lasagna and chicken parm. Every bite was fabulous. I also love the atmosphere.

Won't accommodate reservation with 3 days notice

By C W |

Our monthly dinner club tried to make a Thursday reservation for 20 and were told they could not accommodate. It is Monday night. With 3 days advance notice I am disappointed they did not feel the need to try harder. I would recommend Pera's Wine and Tapas, Amore, or even Campisi's for a large group over trying here.

mostly pasta

By suramom |

Been a few months, but the menu is mostly pasta, with a side salad accompanying. Salad was good. Pasta tends to be on the salty side. Will not work for the low-carb diet, as mostly just pasta, without protein.

Good food always

By ChopperBenny |

Have had Pizza, great . Love the Shrimp pasta dishes. Outstanding spiced dishes . The salad dressing is really flavorful . Will go back

I'll be back

By dbaudrate |

I came in early, so there wasn't a crowd. Everyone is very friendly, the service was very good. The food is delicious. Prices are very reasonable for the food you get. I will definitely be back when I'm in the area again.

Much was very good, some just good, large portions

By Don P |

Five of us for Dinner. The regular table bread was really very good. The Mozzarella Garlic bread was also very good. The Milanese Parmigiana was in layers and the meat really stood out. The Sausage and Pepper pasta was hearty and very tasty.

Quality, Value and Attentive Service

By Abby Green |

I stopped at Roman Cucina based on reviews, and I was not disappointed! The service was fast without being rushed. The portions were large and most meals were under $20. You can't go wrong with this one.

Nice Pasta in Neighborhood Restaurant

By David T |

Roman Cucina really specializes in pasta, in my opinion. They don't do pizza, so don't come for that. However, if you like a great creamy pesto pasta, then order it and enjoy.

Awesome new italian restaurant

By KDreviews |

Roman Cucina has great food for a good price! This place also has an eclectic italian cool gangsta feel to it. Service is personal and fast! You can't go wrong with this place! Order the tiramisu.

Culture and Cuisine

This cozy restaurant left a great impression. I have to say, we enjoyed every single bite of the meal. Considering the quality, the price is reasonable, & the portions are large. Ideal for those who want a romantic night out. There was also plenty of room for bigger groups. The service was great. Food was Delicious!

Service Unmatched!

Traveling on business and a group of us stop in for dinner. Food was excellent and service was nothing short of outstanding! We ended up dining at this location three time before traveling out of the area. This is a must try!

Cool little Italian spot

By eatsleeptour |

We decided to give Roman Cucina a try after reading their reviews on TA. We arrived early (5 pm) on a Friday night after calling and talking to the restaurant as they do fill up. We were glad we did! It was full by 5:30. I had a glass of their house chianti wine and my husband had one of their draft beers which was served with really good bread. For appetizers, I had the Italian wedding soup and my husband had the house salad - both were OK. I wished they had more than 1 choice of soup though. I ordered the lasagna and my husband had the pesto linguini with chicken. Both meals were very large portions ( I had enough for another meal the following day) and tasted good. For dessert, we split the cannoli and spumoni ice cream. I've eaten at several places in NYC that have claimed to have the best cannoli and theirs fair in comparison to the one I had at Roma Cucina - delicious! I loved the spumoni ice cream as well as it is difficult to find in a grocery store, let alone in a restaurant so it was a real treat! Our server was polite and attentive. We loved the Italian vibe of the restaurant with "old school" Sinatra, Elvis, and Rat pack music playing and their photos all over the restaurant - even in the restrooms. We will probably return to try some of their other dishes. Prices were extremely reasonable for the quality and quantity we received. Give it a try!

Great neighborhood restaurant

By I M |

We live in the area and Roman Cucina has quickly become my favorite Italian restaurant. The most recent in a succession of restaurants located in an old Taco Bueno, the food is excellent and the service is perfect. I especially like the sausage and peppers, but have had other things that were very good as well.

Very Good

By ChopperBenny |

Always great. I like the Pasta less dishes. Shrimp is also good. Chicken Milanese good too with Pesto. All around has been good. The Salad is also good. Comes with hot bread. Will return

The Italian Authenticicity

By DEEPAK M |

The place is conveniently located and a nice and perfect choice if one is an admirer of Italian food. The pictures on the walls and the decor provide it the look and feel of an Italian cafe/coffee house. The out side seating presents a different experience. The waiters are extremely courteous and efficient and the service equally prompt. The complimentary breads are authentic and oven fresh( Crusty on the outside and soft and perfectly baked from inside). The complimentary salads are fresh and crisp. The dips are finger licking and tangy. The Garlic breads are a delight though we found salts content higher in many dishes. the overall experience was wonderful and the Italian touch will be remembered.

First Dinner at Roma Cucina

By Ken R |

My wife and I usually have Italian at Aboca's in Richardson, but heard about Roman Cucina and decided to try it. Here's my review: - located in an old Taco Bell next door to KFC and a car wash. - requested seat outside, too loud, moved indoors. - good service, Jose was attentive server - wife enjoyed the fresh bread - Lasagne was very good, better than Aboca's - Good experience, but prefer Aboca's for BYOB! - good service

Good choice!

By Sherry H |

Our son and his girlfriend chose this restaurant and it was a good choice for our party of six. This is a comfortable place with fun old family photos on the walls and good Italian food. I don't care for booths for six people, all the reaching over people to pass food and fill waters disrupts conversation too much. Reasonable prices, nice portions, good service, limited wine list.

Great facility

By sneely1218 |

Food is very good, wine specials on Wednesday are great, plus the bread is wonderful. Service was excellent too. Great neighborhood addition.

Crazy good

By BigDTravel |

I will try not to gush too much but I love this place. We just discovered them about six months ago and found out it's been there for several years. How did I not know? The food is fantastic. Some of our favorites: Bread: obviously made on site. Served hot and fresh. Sigh, so good. Wedding soup: no matter what else I order I make sure I order the soup. Pepperoni garlic bread: not for those on a diet. Soaked in butter and garlic with cheese- this is my absolute favorite dish. Please try it. Lasagna: I get the sausage version and it's so good. A little spicy, but that's how I like it. Large portion, too. Go. You won't regret it.

Our favorite little spot

By Hailey S |

The atmosphere and service is always amazing. This is the cutest little date spot and also has great prices. My fiance and I love to get the mozzarella garlic bread, house salad, and then share an entree. It's always more than enough food! Highly recommend this place!

Little hidden gem

By Melissa T |

This looks like an old drive thru.... but only from the outside. Once inside you’ve been ported to this warm, beautiful atmosphere of deliciousness. This is a great little hidden gem I. North Dallas. From the warm Italian bread the meatballs and ricotta appetizer we were in heaven or in a small town in Italy. Complete with a fireplace and a full bar this place is not to be missed.

Delicious!

By PinkLionSS |

Super friendly staff. For starters we got the bruschetta. It was some of the best I’ve had! Amazing. The chicken Alfredo was delicious! Will definitely be back!

Incredible Italian in Addison

By AHDUDE |

We tried Roman Cucina for the first time on 12/18. We saw the great reviews and decided to try it. We arrived just as they opened and were seated right away. Staff - The waiter was a young man named John. He apparently was a recent employee but was great. He knew the menu and very friendly and attentive. We did not interact with anyone else except the manager who seated us when we first got there. The rest of the staff filtered in as the crowds grew. They were mostly young folks and they seems to be very good, and I didn't see one of them with a cell phone! Amazing! Atmosphere - We were the first guests of the night and we were decided to sit in the area by the fireplace. It was supposed to be the quiet area. It was neat and had lots of great pictures on the wall. But by the time people were filtering with children, it wasn't too quiet but it was still nice but a bit tight. The only real downer to the atmosphere in this area was the TV. Nice Italian restaurants and there is a big TV in the corner. No sound but distracting. Food - After seeing other reviews, we knew what we wanted before we got there! I had the Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken Milanese, topped with the pesto sauce and for mozzarella. WOW! The chicken was savory and just fell apart as you ate it. Almost melted in your mouth. No chewy or tough chicken here! The Alfredo was very good but the pesto was outstanding on top. My wife had the Chicken Milanese as well, but with spaghetti and pesto. She also found the meal amazing. She had the Tiramisu and said it was great. I never really cared for Tiramisu so I tried the Spumoni. I haven't had this Italian ice cream since I was a kid, and it was very good. The bread with the meal was also very good. Fresh. Soft with a crunchy crust. Price - The main dishes were $15 each. The Tiramisu was $6 and the small (2 scoop) Spumoni was $2. Portion size - This is were we went wrong. We ate the whole thing! ;) The dinner portion was huge, so we could have just gotten one and shared it. Maybe start with an appetizer next time, split the main course and add dessert. We would have probably been less stuffed leaving, but it was soooo good, you cant help but eat it all. Overall - Probably the Italian meal I have had, EVER. We will definitely be going back to confirm this!

Great Neighborhood Spot

By LDDallas |

This is a converted Taco Bell building, but don't let that fool you. Step inside and the staff is gracious, the atmosphere is cozy and the food is very good. Try the the garlic bread mozzarella w/ pepperoni for a starter and you will be hooked! I always have the Pasta Gianni and love it. The service is attentive and polite.

Fantastic Dining Experience!

By TravelJunkieABC |

This restaurant is charming. This is my third visit and it is consistently wonderful! The staff has been almost the same in all of my visits over the last year. The bread is delicious. The salad that comes with the entrees is amazing! The dressing is an oil based and it's amazing and light and with s sprinkle of cheese the best. Last night we dined on sausage and meatballs with red sauce and penne, chicken parmigiana with fettuccini and Italian wedding soup for 3 of us. The chicken parmigiana was exclaimed as the best ever because the coating was crispy but the chicken was juicy and amazing! Meatballs were so delicious!!! And the Italian wedding soup got rave reviews! We had 2 teas and a water and the bill was $42 which was so crazy inexpensive! The manager or owner is always there hustling, running food and drinks and checking on tables. They do a nice business and it has to be because the consistency of the food and service. Patio outside is fabulous when weather permits! This is a great choice for Italian cuisine and I highly recommend it!

Best in town

By BWP914 |

First visit to this place and it won't be the last! Very friendly staff, atmosphere was perfect and the food was in my top 3 Italian experiences. the servings are more than enough, and very, very fresh! We will be back soon! No reservation unless you have 6 or more in your party.

Italian in a town of tex-mex!!

By Toada1 |

A friend took me to eat last night and what a great surprise! This tiny hidden spot had fantastic friendly service and ridiculously inexpensive but well prepared food. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive, my friend and I both had a salad with warm bread prior to our entree'. When my lasagna came (the first thing I like to compare when having Italian) I was surprised at the size of the portion...I did finish it however!! Neither one of us had wine so another reviewer will have to address the offerings. The bar looked inviting and I will definitely be back. This hopefully will become a regular spot.

Best service, food and atmosphere

By bettina L |

We happened to take a recommendation from a friend who had never been but had heard it served good food. So happy we went, the mushroom appetizer was fabulous. We had the lasagna which was very good and I chose eggplant parmigiana appetizer thinking it would be small portion, it was huge. The waiter explained the only difference was that it didn't come with salad and side order of pasta. The eggplant was best I have had in Dallas. We had enough food left over to take home for another meal. The waiter we had was very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was great, a bar area where you can also eat. We went early so no problem on getting seated right away. Reasonable prices. All the favorite Italian dishes available. We we definitely go back .

Excellent Dining Experience

Visting Dallas to babysit the grandkids and wanted to take them for a nice Italian dinner. Looked up places close to the house and on TripAdvisor for reviews. Decided to give this place a try. What a good choice! Our server was pleasant and helpful. The salad I ordered for my entree was huge (Roman Salad). The meatballs and sausage both delicious. Both grandkids ordered a pasta dish (off the regular menu) one was a ravioli special and the other a alfredo. They both loved them and it really good. Would love to visit this restaurant again.

Very dissapointed

The places is beautiful, very nice decoration and music. BUT: 1. The food is not a big deal. We did not like it. 2. Our waitress was really lost: I ordered fettuccine, she brought spaghetti. When I received my order, I asked her if my dish was made with chicken since it did not look like chicken, and her answer was: "Oh, really? It does not?", that was all. I ask her to leave my salad on the table and she just took it away. My husband told her not to bring more soda, and she did. A complete disaster. 3. Every minute (I am not overstating) a waitress went to look our table, she walked to and fro like a caged lion, it was REALLY annoying. Every five minutes our designed waitress went to ask: is everything ok? EVERY 5 minutes, It means we could not eat and talk calmly and privately. We will not back there for sure.

My hometown goto Italian restaurant

By William D |

This is my hometown goto Italian restaurant. The portions are large - you can eat it all if you are very hungry, but I often take a togo box. The price is very reasonable. There will be a wait on the weekends - but it is well worth the wait !! The food is better than the better known Italian restaurants in town - by far !! I like the giannini with fettuccine noodles.

Excellent

Table of 6 and everyone raved about this restaurant. The food was outstanding. We can't wait to go back there. Portions were huge. Prices are very reasonable. The place is so cute inside. Loved it!

Terrific Food, darn near a 5

By ronsrice |

Maybe the best bread we have ever had in a restaurant. The bruschetta (and the Pepperoni garlic bread) is awesome and the portions of all apps and dinner entree's are huge which brings to my only complaint that the server did not inform us of that as we ordered (there were 4 adults and one 2 yr old.). Other than that a completely enjoyable experience and will definitely return when back in Dallas. Oh, one other gripe, as my son was waiting on Uber I ordered a Sambuca......a very weak pour and was NINE bucks. that won't happen again.

Our favorite Italian restaurant

By TravelingOCMom |

Having been to 3 out of 4 Roman Cucina restaurants in California, we were thrilled when we learned that Roman Cucina would be opening near our home in Dallas. Our experience there did not disappoint. The food is superb -- everything is cooked daily from scratch -- and the service is top-notch. Waiters make a point of keeping your drink full and your table clear of empty plates. The atmosphere is hip, not stuffy. Some of our faves to eat include the calamari appetizer (the best I've ever had), fettuccine alfredo (my kids' favorite), the steak milanese (huge and tender), pasta tombrello (if you enjoy a bit of spice), and pasta with lemon garlic cream sauce (mmm...) We can't wait to go back!

Dinner with Friends at Roman Cucina

By MPG6354 |

Our friends have eaten here before. This was our first visit and we will definitely be going back again. First the staff is very friendly and helpful. Second the food came out exactly as we ordered it. The salads, chicken parmesan, lasagna, eggplant parmesan and pasta dishes along with the sauces were very good. This is a good place for friends and/or a family meal.

Best food of my life🇮🇹🍽🍝

By Jillian R |

I would definitely recommend it to some one. Where do I start... service is amazing, awesome food hand down, and such a cool and chill environment. The sausage lasagna was the best and the dessert was incredible. This is a place you need to come to. The cups aren't ever empty and the owners are usually there all the time. The owners are incredible and super nice. Would come back to Texas from California any time for this restaurant any day

Fabulous Food

Hidden Gem: overall grade A

By DonePayingForPoorQuality |

Grade: A. Good: house salad was very nice, Italian wedding soup was amazing, and the lasagna bolognese was great. Bad: they started off the meal with some extremely burnt house bread. I would rather they have not given us any bread at all the bread was so burnt... hard as a rock with literal burnt flavor. I'm glad I stayed around for the rest.

Nice and cozy atmosphere. Good waiter.

Nice atmosphere. Food is traditional and yummy. Angel was a really nice waiter. Very polite and nice. I ordered just a mushroom appetizer and it was plenty. Their salad was also yummy.

Our go-to neighborhood restaurant!

We love Roman Cucina! It's a regular dinner spot for us. The food is fantastic and such a great value. We also love half price wine night on Wednesdays. Highly recommend!

Surprisingly Good Italian Food

By yellowpixels |

Have not returned to this restaurant for at least 2 years - the food is still great. "Best calamari" according to our teenage eater. Everyone enjoyed the food. Portions are large so you can either plan to split or get a to go box. It's crowed and noisy. Service is surprisingly good.

One of our favorites!

Consistently good food with oversized portions and great specials. Everyone I take to Roman Cucina just LOVES the food. Most of the time, I have to take food with me as I can only finish about half of the generous portions.

We Keep Coming Back!

By TexasDia |

Roman Cucina is a perfect place for dinner with family and friends. The staff is always super friendly, the décor is homey with tons of family pictures and checkerboard tile, and the atmosphere is lively without being overwhelming. We've visited on many different days of the week. Some are louder and busier than others, but we have always enjoyed the vibe of the restaurant. The black tufted high-backed booths make it a more intimate setting, and you can focus on the people you are with rather than being distracted by the other parties. My favorite dish by far has been the penne pasta with chicken and pesto sauce. The portion is huge and I always bring half of it home for lunch the next day. The bread and house salad are both good, kids meals are reasonably priced, and we have never been disappointed with any meal. I love that this restaurant is a perfect place to go with the family, and with other families, and also a great place for a date night dinner or dinner with other adult friends! We've been to several other Italian places in the neighborhood, many of whom have been around forever, but they fall short and we always come back to Roman Cucina.

Special Birthday Dinner

We celebrated my daughter's 11th birthday here with family while on vacation. Wonderful service! Very accommodating of our requests. I'm so glad we could make wonderful memories at this hidden gem.

Great family spot!!!

We took our 2 kids, their spouses and 3 small grandchildren, so the staff was patient and very busy. They could not have been nicer and the food was excellent and very reasonable.

Great food, service and ambience!

Reminds me of the classic “Downtown” Italian restaurants, great food a little noisy and lots of great photos displayed on all walls. Fun place to bring friends! Reasonable beverage prices too.
