If you need a good wholesome quick bite, this is great for pizza or just Italian food. Good price for the quick delivery....

Italian Pizzeria in Houston

By Shark1981 |

Perfect place for tasting a bit of real italian flare here in Texas. Pizza there is just... Italian!

Best baked ziti and good pizza

By 4thdoug |

Love their baked Ziti here, it is so good. Their pizza is good, every now and then it is a little on the greasy side. Overall I would give it a 9. Service if friendly, helpful and reasonable. I don't think you would be disappointed if you gave it a try.

That's a Pizza

By Sandra L |

Why go to New York..... for pizza..... when we have Romano's here in Houston. The best pizza and the staff is amazing and when it comes to topping they really make good on the black olives.

Nobody else has crust like this!

By machita75 |

I love this no-nonsence italian place! Their crust is amazing! I usually order a stromboli type sausage roll and dip it in their perfectly simple marinara sauce. Try the margahrita pizza as well. I also love people watching here as the staff know the regulars by name :)

Great taste of Italy in the heart of Houston

By jbudweiser |

Expansive menu, very well presented and reasonably priced. The service is second to none, salad is brought out about as fast as you can make it to a table, and the main course is prepared very well -- Be it a slice, sandwich or calzone.

this is good but it gives me a food hangover.

this is good but it gives me a food hangover.

Pricey for pizza but worth it

By worldly74 |

We go at least once every two months. For the most part, the pizza quality is excellent with fresh ingredients. It is a bit pricey for pizza but worth it. Occasionally, the pizza gets soggy towards the center. Not sure if its the amount of ingredients or not. Definitely suggest dining in rather than take out.

Best NY Pizza outside of NY

By jlp913 |

I love this place. My mother is from New York state, so we were up there every year. As kids, of course, our big draw was the pizza. This definitely reminds me of being a kid and being in New York. My family can't wait to go to Romano's every time they come for a visit.

Best Italian Food in Houston

By Brian A |

Wednesday night, the wife was craving a meatball sub, so we got on Uber Eats and came across Romano's as an option. After glancing over a few reviews, we decided to give it a try. She ordered the meatball sub and based on some online pics, I decided to go with the Baked Ziti...something I never order. By the time it was all said and done, I have to proclaim that Romano's is the best Italian food I've had in Houston. Before I even had a bite of my Ziti I was trying the sub. The meatballs were flavorful and seasoned perfectly. They were the perfect pairing with Romano's bread. We decided to save half for the next day. As for the Ziti...my goodness! Everything was completely satisfying from the noodles to the sauce. And what made it better, a delicious side of garlic bread. If there's one thing that sets Romano apart, it's the cheese. The cheese on top of the pasta was the best I've ever had at an Italian restaurant and was super cheesy! And it was pretty awesome on the sub as well. Will definitely be back!

Love the place. Don't go. It's getting too crowded

By Tim B |

Tiny place. Brooklyn Italian. Family owned and managed. Love the food, especially pastas. Pizzas are delicious, but not cheap. For that, give up quality and taste and order Dominoes.

Great spot with or without the family for lunch or dinner

By Tracey B |

The pizza is terrific. Crispy crust with a well balanced sauce that's not too sweet or spicy. It's very similar to pie's on th east coast. You can easily hold the slice up by the crust and not have it slump or sag towards the plate. We also had spaghetti with meat sauce and meat balls, their house salads, garlic bread and an eggplant parmesan. Their house salad dressing is fantastic! I could drink the stuff. The casual order at the counter system followed by the food being brought to your table makes it a relatively quick experience where families with kids can be comfortable. I think the price point is a tad bit high, but certainly not brake the bank high.

Very Italian pizza

Very Italian pizza

Huge medium Chicken Pizza

By Ahmed A |

Good one, with perfect Italian Pizza I order a medium size, but surprised that it's huge A bit pricey, but it's okay compared to food quality and pizza size Environment not so nice, the chef was a little bit noisy but nice

What a Surprise

By Susanne H |

We ate there with family members who are locals. Looks like a carry out pizza place walking in. Once we sat down and ordered, our impression changed. Pasta was generous and delicious. Chicken and veal dishes also good and more than enough for leftovers. Even the house wine went with the meal very well. You can get everything from a pizza slice to a full Italian meal. Very reasonable. We definitely go back.

New York, New York!

By TravelingLoverr29 |

Being a fellow New Yorker, I'd have to say this is by far the BEST pizza in Houston! Believe me when I say I have tried a lot of pizzeria's. Even though they are a little pricey, you get what you pay for. If you want a $5 pizza you're gonna get a $5 pizza. So, get out some extra cash and enjoy REAL New York Style pizza from New Yorkers who know what they're doing and ignore these negative reviews. Happy Eating!

Pizza Average / Good reliable

By MARTINRAYC |

This is a average itlalian pizza joint that can be overpriced for what you get. LVino;s has better pizza but this pizza is good. It is convenient and there are many options for a order and sit dinner.

Great Dinner

By Amber R |

Was told to check this place out and I was not disappointed. The portions are huge and one meal fed two of us. Will definitely be back

Great food nice and friendly staff

By Don H |

I love their Stromboli but all their dishes are very good. Authentic New York Style pizza and pasta dishes with a full Italian menu. Good size portions made while you wait in a kitchen you can see, good eats!

It’s a pleasure to be back at Romano’s!

By evamariacampo |

Romano’s is my favorite pizza place in Houston and they closed for more than six months after a fire on the next door business. Well, they opened again recently and I am very happy to go back. I love their Pizza Margarita and the Lobster Ravioli. Neighborhood restaurant, nice owners and friendly service. Recommended!

Great Italian treats at reasonable prices.

By James S |

The staff is very friendly, the service is fast, (not fast food), and the food was delicious. The prices are very reasonable and it appeared that many locals were eating there. The restaurant seems to have a local following. We would go back there again in a heartbeat. I really enjoyed that wonderful Italian restaurant and Pizza house.

Best cannoli and great pizza too!

By Rebeccamartens |

Good service, great thin crust pizza, casual, and the best cannoli filling that I've had in Houston! This is our go-to pizza over Star and Pinks!

Very New York - try the PASTA

By Jennifer C |

This has great food. Easy in and out with counter service. I love a slice so its one of the few pizza places where you can get a quick slice in Houston. I like the pizza but the real draw for me here is pasta. I don't know if its fresh or dry but the dishes are made with TLC. As an ex-New Yorker I like this place the way I like little neighborhood joints throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn.

2nd Review, Same as the 1st. Still great food, no matter what you get.

By Randy D |

Was there this past weekend for my birthday. We ordered two pizzas, salads and spaghetti. As before (and hopefully forever) their food was excellent. I cant say enough good things about this place. Again, we drive almost 25min to get there and pass quite a few pizza restaurants on the way, but none as good at them. We have friends that live in Houston and are from New York and they also love the place and tell us it is authentic NY style pizza. Keep it up gentlemen...

Made to Order By the Slice

By Jenny H |

How awesome is MADE TO ORDER BY THE SLICE! Yep, the cheese pizza is ready for you to TOP as you like and then outs run through the oven again ... delish and HOT!

Solid

By Cyril B |

Cannot find good pizza outside of the Northeast. This was starting to reach that kind of pizza. Good price and service also

Loved it!!

By wolfdenTexas |

Loved the pizza and the ambiance. Location is great too. The staff was wonderful, it was my Bday celebration and they were very kind. We will be coming back. Meat Lovers Pizza was really good!!!😋.

If you're looking for a good calzone - get it here!

By Lorena D |

I have to admit this is the only place I never worry about how my calzone is going to taste or look when it's served. I do wish they would make them bigger and that's the only reason I give it a 4 and not a 5. The cheese calzone and the marinara sauce they serve isn't that bad. Not the best, but I can't tell if it's homemade or not. There's always a crowd of couples, singles and families and I believe the owners are from New York. At least some of the employees ooze New York. I love shopping at Marshall's and TJ Maxx right next door and look forward to relaxing and stuffing myself with the only calzone in Houston I can find that doesn't tempt me to throw it against the wall.

Livestock Show Dinner Win

By blp23 |

We ordered delivery to the room and everything we ordered was hot and tasted great! Garlic bread-salad-pizza-lasagna-cheesecake!

Just good food.

By kiQai |

A little pricey but its all good; served really hot and taste like a real home made food! Amazed how people just come and go to get their to go pizza in boxes... stayed for more than an hour to enjoy food with family and noticed that people are coming in and out to eat inside or grab their orders that indicates that this is a ONE Good Place to eat.. Will come back when we pass by the place. ***** 5 Stars!

No Pizza Peer

By Kradjian |

Houston's closet thing to back east. Above the multitude of crummy pizza rises Romano's. Owners Vinny and Frank are always there dishing out their unique charm, but even better food. The pasta dishes are good as well with prices much lower than comparable Houston restuarants. If you are ever in the Montrose / River Oaks area a must stop!

I love pizza, not a miss!

Italian straight from New York

By spyda |

Romano’s is an excellent place to eat. I really like their pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, and chicken marsala. I have ordered my meals as carry out too. The service is quick. Houston has many great Italian restaurants, but this one is special.

Pizza here is the best - we drive over 20 miles to eat here.

By Randy D |

My family has been eating here for years. If someone wants pizza, there is only one place in Houston we go to...Romanos. We live in Cypress, Texas and it is around a 25min drive..but well worth it. Their pizza crust stands on it's own. I think I could just eat the crust and nothing else and be happy. Add their great sauce and toppings and we believe you have a great NY style pizza. And yes, the two owners that are cousins were born in Italy then moved to New York City. We are so happy they made Houston home and we go so much that they pretty much know our order. As for their other dishes, they are all excellent too. We sometimes get just a small pizza, then add spaghetti or their baked Ziti (their Ziti is enough for two) or any of their other dishes...you cant go wrong there.

Hey I'm Marty from Brooklyn. This is the real mcoy. Get it. If not don't go....

By MartyGdabest |

Order pizza, pasta, or veal. You'll love it. Just tell the boys to go a little easy on the sauce..

Great service. Very nice cashier who was professional, friendly, and efficient

By Juan |

Cashier (possibly manager or owner) made the experience. Friendly, fast and expedient. He greeted everyone with a warm welcome and took care of all their needs. He would be a reason to come back

If in Houston, MUST TRY! Great Italian Food and Pizza

By FMHouston |

If you're traveling to Houston or just moved to the area and want to try some of the best food in Houston, GO TO ROMANO'S!! Made by real, pure-bred Italians who owned pizza shops in NY, Romano's Pizza will satisfy your pizza desires. The crust is crispy, the sauce is delicious, and all their food is always piping hot and fresh! DEFINITELY STOP BY ROMANO'S IF IN HOUSTON!

Please open a Pearland Location!!! - Best Houston area NY Pizza!!!

By HouCuseChickie |

First off- I hate Hate HATE all of the negative reviews that #1 try to compare Romano's to other local places that serve different styles of pizza. Romano's is NY pizza and it makes absolutely no sense to compare apples to oranges and slam a NY style pizza place b/c you prefer a place that serves Cali or Chicago style pizza. #2 people who have never eaten NY style pizza in the NY metro (aka tri state area) or even Philly really shouldn't be reviwing Romano's. i.e. I find it really difficult for people to be in the know or be objective about this when they've never had the real thing prior to going to Romano's. I also see people complaining about prices, but if you have any frame of reference, you'd know their prices are on par with comparable establishments + it's not like you're buying cheap chain pizza! This is the real deal made with good stuff! OK- *stepping down from my soap box* Romano's makes this JERSEY GIRL soooooooo HAPPY!!!!! :) I am willing to drive in from the burbs just to get their pies!!! The sauce and sauce to crust/topping ratio is just right, the crust is really good, they use the right cheeses and spices, and ultimately - IT TASTES LIKE HOME! And the owners really make it feel like home if you get a chance to talk to them. I still rank my top 3 NJ places above them, but that's what I grew up with. Still Romano's is on par with several highly regarded pizza places in my home town/area. We love the pizza, boli, and calzone + there are several other dishes that are on the menu that we've tried and loved <3 We go at least 4 or 5 times a year and will keep returning!!!

Best Marinara Sauce In The World!

By Randi H |

The title says it all -- in my whole life, all 45 long years of it, this little strip center, casual cafe has THE BEST marinara sauce I have ever put in my mouth. It's not sweet, which is a big no-no with me. It is tangy tomato with thin slices of fresh garlic, and just a hint of spinach. It is awesome. Just say "spaghetti with marinara" when you get to the counter. Hands down, THE BEST. WOW.

A Slice of New York

By realst8ace |

I grew up in New York and have fond memories of our neighborhood pizza place. Romano's pizza pie was the closest to that authentic look, smell and taste that I have found here in Houston. It took a bit to get our order, so if you are in a rush, wait until you have time to spare.

Quick Italian meal

By Mary M |

It's amazing the variety of items that come from this small kitchen which is in plain view behind the counter! It's not just Pizza - but that's a favorite. I've found it tastes much better to order a full pie (small) and take home the rest vs getting by the slice. We've also come for dinner and ordered everything from spaghetti, linguine with clams, and wine. Good food, fast, friendly service. Always leave happy!

by far the best italian...

By Relax55918 |

by far the best italian pizza i've had since moving from the northeast. somewhat expensive, and they need to change their cheese blend to really compete with the big boys.

Best NYC Style Pizza in Houston

By WGBerry |

So we've been searching for decent pizza in Houston for over a year. Most have come up short of expectations - until we came across this gem. Romano's lives up to any New Yorker's hopes in H town. Pizza by the slice - no weird toppings - and, plenty of original Italian dishes. We had a simple antipasto salad followed by a medium 14" pie (margherita w/ sausage, mushrooms, and black olives). We accompanied it w/ a couple of glasses of Chianti and finished the meal w/ the best cannoli we've tasted in a very long while - the cream will leave you wanting more. Vinny and Frank have delivered an excellent product that is sure to satisfy any homesick New Yorker or just someone who's been hunting a great pizza!

Delicious Italian Cuisine

By spyda |

Take out was great. The meal was prepared fresh. The employees are nice. 15 minute wait time was quick. Romano’s is one of my favorite restaurants in Houston.

Keep it simple

By jimbill |

I've been coming here for 15+ years. Almost always order the cheese pizza. Why? Because it is so good that anything else on it messes it up. Trust me on this. If you must have meat, try their sausage stuffed calzone. And I rarely give 5 stars.

Ordered take out... Postmates.. 87.00 later

By AUSAGUY007 |

As u can see from the picture.. It was 87.00.. Around 15.00 to deliver.... The meat balls are really soft and has flavor... The cheese pizza was good... Flavor with a soft crust The bread was good to pluse salad But was it worth 87.00... No

Real NY pizza

By Samuraigolfer |

No one makes NY style pizza like Romano's. And you can get some Queens NY attitude with it. Guys are standoffish friendly. All the pasta dishes are good. Unpretentious and cool.

Great Neighborhood Place

By Hous2n |

I've been going to Romano's for a couple of years. Its really comfortable and fast. Call ahead and your order is ready when you get there ( in 5 minutes!) The pasta is terrific. I always get the meatballs and marinara and love it. The dinner comes with salad and bread-- a great value. The meatballs are wonderful and sauce tastes homemade. The best part about the place is employees. They are the real deal. Better than Jersey Shore.

Super Friendly Staff and Pizza On Demand!

By shchristy |

This is a quiet and unique pizza restaurant. Staff go over and above in trying to help give you an outstanding dinner experience. GREAT selection of unusual pizza choices!

The Best Pizza I've Ever Tasted

By BluemanHouston |

Who would ever think this strip center hole in the wall would have the best pizza in all of Houston. It's NYC style so you have to like that in order to like this. I discovered this place by accident and now I come here regularly for lunch while working downtown. I order a couple of slices of pepperoni and sit down and watch ESPN while I wait. Also good sandwiches (sausage, meatball) made with very good Italian rolls. I almost am reluctant to write this review in order to keep this place a secret.

OK Not Great

By Lynn S |

I went there with my daughter. We're both new to Houston but since I'm from NY I was interested in trying Romano's. The service was friendly and they made our pizza slices to order. We got the meal deal: a slice with a topping and a side salad for $7. Our food came out quickly and we were given garlic bread to go with our meal. We both enjoyed the garlic bread and the salad. My pizza was cooked well and was crispy on the bottom, just the was I like it. Unfortunately, the critical flaw in the meal was the cheese on the pizza. Cheese can make or break a pizza and this cheese did not make the pizza. Too bad because everything else was great!

This is what Ny pizza taste like!

By Frank F |

Lived in Ny my whole life and this place would compete with pizzerias in my neighborhood. The sicilian is awesome crunchy on the outside nice and soft on the inside. It's all in the dough and they got it right. Don't sleep on the chicken marsala a little pricey but comes with pasta, salad, and garlic bread and it's awesome.

Spaghetti & Meatballs Oh My!

By 1Happy020 |

I ate at this restaurant today at lunch. I had not been there in a few years. They have fabulous spaghetti and meatballs. It is served with a salad and garlic bread. I also ordered a fountain drink. The price of my meal with tax was $15.70. I have had there pizza in the past and a sandwich. Neither of these were worthy of a return trip. Stick with the spaghetti and meatballs.

This is a local favorite. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food is incredible. Try the baked ziti or lasagna! I prefer carry-out here.

Great pizza

Get the plain cheese. So simple and yet SO good. Just the right balance of sauce and cheese on a great crust. Their pepperoni is a bit greasy.

My favorite pizza in Houston probably because it most resembles Connecticut pizza. (Though Pepe's can never be replicated.) But it is in a strip mall with no atmosphere to speak of.

Classic italian

By Giselle L |

Consistently visited this place and it always come through! My favorites are the lobster ravioli and any of their pizzas. The sauces are delicious and the pizza crust is perfectly thin.

New York

By Libby C |

I got a feel for northeast Pa in this place. Garlic Powder was on the table, never seen that here, we go out for pizza every friday. Wonderful homemade sauce made fresh daily. Sounded like bees there with families & couples visiting. The people there were very nice & gave us extra sauce, answered our questions, and made me feel I was in a New York shop. Not bad prices

Eh

By disgruntledpelican |

Eh. Just eh. I wish I could say more, but there's not much more to say. Slices are big. Staff is friendly. Pizza is... eh. Not much cheese flavor and the sauce didn't stand out either. I got single slices, and their method is to take a cheese pizza in the display and put toppings on as you order it, then heat it up. Unimpressed. It's not a horrible place, but there are better places within a very short drive that will make you happier.

Former NYC Resident finally found Italian food in Houston

By Mr_Eliot11 |

Been searching for real NYC Italian food and pizza in Houston for months and have finally found it here at Romano’s. This is the real deal. Thin crust, cheesy pizza and perfect sauce on their pasta and parm dishes. Home run all around!

Great "fast food" italian

By Ljd619 |

I stopped by while in Houston for work, I had the caprese sandwich and a cannoli. I expected a deli sandwich, but they make it on the spot and it is more like a calzone. You get a lot of food for your buck. The cannoli was pretty good, creamy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The staff was super helpful and courteous. I would totally encourage everyone to check it out. You will not be disappointed.

thin toppings, canned mushrooms and believe it basil was a premium item!

By VIEQUESBEACHBUM |

Ate here for the first and last time today. Tab on a large 16 inch special, three salads and three teas was $54. The salad dressing was watery and tasteless as the salad itself. I did almost walk out when we were ordering. We wanted to substitute ground beef on the pizza with fresh basil. i was told basil on the pizza was a premium item and would cost $1.50 more than the $29 tab for the pizza. Really I'm not joking. I have eaten pizza all over the world and have never had that one told me! I Should have known right there. The guy taking the order was more busy with his phone. The pizza itself was light on toppings, with canned mushrooms making up most of the topping. Was supposed to be Canadian bacon, sausage, pepperoni etc. The crust was just OK and a bit soggy. My son who eats everything left his crust on the plate. There are many better pizza places in Houston, so this was a poor choice for our outing. I can only pass along my experience, if you want a great pizza, go elsewhere

Delicious, authentic italian food :)

By randahamden |

We started off with the pizza here... its AMAZING. We exclusively order out from this joint! We recently started eating other things here, like their baked ziti, chicken parm, raviolis, etc.... ALL are delicious. I think its the marinara sauce that makes it amazing. The reason i give it 4, instead of 5 stars, is because the entrees are as pricey as a fancier italian restaurant where you are waited on, etc. This is an "order at the counter and fend for yourself" sort of place... which i dont mind, its not pretentious at all. But at $18+ for chicken parm, i'd expect wait service... that said, the food is so yummy, i'm gonna keep coming back and paying a little more for less service but better food. PS. The Garlic Knots are AMAZING! unfortunately they are only available on Saturday and Sunday...

Best NY Style in Houston

By Rob L |

I have not found a better authentic New York style pizza than Romano's. The sauce on those pies is fantastic and top quality ingredients.

Our Favorite Pizza Place

By Grace Bishop |

This is by far our favorite restaurant for pizza in Houston. It is New York-style pizza, and you just can't beat the fresh ingredients and rich flavors. We also order, often, the chicken ravioli and chicken marsala. Bellissimmo!

overpriced

By YoostonTX |

just too expensive for what you get. yes, the food is good, but overpriced in our minds. we had the spinach/tomato/chicken pizza... good crust but sort of bland. don't bother ordering a salad here.

Great New York style pizza

By KISpe007 |

Vinnie and Frank know how to make a pie. Absolutely delicious New York style pizzas. They have other items, but I never get past the pepperoni, sausage with extra cheese. I have to stop writing so I can call in an order for one......

Decent Italian food if you're in a hurry to get a bite and go. I'm a fan of BIG flavors, and the food left me hanging. Maybe I have an addiction to garlic, haha, but I expected more flavor and richness in the food. Their entrees are a bit more flavorful. Good lasagna.

NYC comes to Houston

These guys are the real deal! The food is great!!! The pizza is better than any in Houston. I feel at home here. Not on the menu, just ask for it! :-)

Good, Friendly, Reliable -howyadoin?

By JMC |

My local, good, casual, shopping center, family owned NY style pizzaria. I have eaten here (or gotten take-out) dozens of times. NY style pizza --- Thin crispy crust, chewy but not nutty or yeasty. Gas-fired oven, pies watched & rotated promptly. No wood smoke or coal fired char. Red sauce is pureed...no chunks. A little saltier than most I've tried but not overpowering with garlic or oregano. Fresh toppings but, shredded mozzarella (no buffalo or feta). Pasta dishes are good and made in front of you. Pasta noodles do not appear to be handmade but are always served al dente. No fish unless they are having a special. Every dish that I've tried is very good...but, nothing I've tried is outstandingly excellent. Friendly staff, with "Order & Pay at the Counter" service.

Never tried food.

By John F |

I went to Romano's for lunch. Walked up to the counter and was reading the menu selections and there was a couple of young men behind the counter doing whatever they were hired to do, I guess. I noticed that they started snickering and laughing under their breath, as it were, while looking at me. I am sure this attention was directed at me because I was the only one standing there. This struck me as just wrong, juvenile, and not becoming of a place of business that wishes people to spend their money there. I immediately just walked out and went to Subway down the strip center. I can't comment on the food. It may be the best Italian food this side of the ocean but I'll never know because I will never step foot in the place again. There are too many places locally to get Italian food to have to put up with that kind of behavior.

Authentic NYC Style Deliciousness

By jazzzitravels |

I ordered a 16" cheese pizza via UberEats. Perfect blend of cheese and sauce, thin crust I folded to eat. Very yummy and authentic. Unfortunately the pizza was cold because the UberEats driver was late; had no pizza warming container; went to the wrong house; refused to check her texts or answer her phone or look at me when I stood on the porch texting, calling, and waving her down as she went next door to deliver my pizza and she had all kinds of attitude. I will never order pizza via UberEats again. However, Romano's is my new favorite pizza place in Houston.

Visiting? A local? Either way, must try Romano's!!!

By FMHouston |

Romano's is simple - it serves delicious, authentic food. Fresh ingredients, using traditional NYC/Italian flavors and everything is delivered piping hot ie. hasn't been sitting under a heat lamp nor was it warmed up in a microwave. It is the real deal when it comes to NYC pizza and my kids love their pasta dishes which is a real check in my book! I've invited visiting friends to dine with my family and they all agree - Romano's is excellent. Once you try, you'll be back, just wait and see! Be sure to say hello to the Italian owners Vinny and Frank.

Great Sicilian Pie

By Doneh347 |

Recently visited Romano's Pizza on a recommendation of someone we had met at our local Chinese restaurant. I took advantage of ordering a Sicilian pizza topped with sausage, mushrooms and onions while my wife tried out their lasagna. It is difficult to find Sicilian pie here in Houston and as a transplanted New York'er i truly miss it. The people working at the restaurant were originally from Queens NY and were familiar with my favorite Italian restaurant in Queens, Don Peppe's Vesuvio restaurant. I was able to consume three slices of my pie which was generously topped with my requested toppings which was very filling and brought the rest home with us to enjoy for the next few days. Although I didn't try the traditional New York pizza it did look very appealing as they brought slices and pies to other tables. My wife completely finished her lasagna which is rare for her as she usually brings home a doggie bag from the restaurants we visit. She said it was awesome. The place isn't too easy to find. It is in a shopping center along with a TJ Max and a Marshall's home goods store. Although difficult to find it is definitely worth seeking out.We will be heading back there soon!

Wish We Lived Closer

By HouCuseChickie |

I was heading into town to have lunch with a friend. We were trying to decide on a place when it occurred to me that my girls should really have legitimate NY pizza more often. Romano's is really the only pizza I've had in the Houston/Galveston area that tastes like home (and we've tried A LOT of places). This trip didn't disappoint. I ordered my standard fave...a pie with sausage and peppers. The big thing for me...they get the peppers right. Too many places make the mistake of putting fresh green bell peppers on the pizza...a telltale sign that it's not a traditional NY style pizza. Those peppers shouldn't crunch and they should have that lovely olive color (guessing it's from roasting them?). The crust & sauce is also right...which is pretty vital to a good pizza. The kids were also very happy that they had pink lemonade in the fountain drinks. Not sure when we'll be back as we live pretty far from that part of town, but it's certainly worth the trip.

Good piiza and pasta;nice family or date spot

By JoBoxer555 |

We met family here for pizza and pasta, and really enjoyed it! You order at the counter, and then they bring your food to your table. Don't expect warm and fuzzy service, it's more "whattya have?" with no smile, but we weren't here to fall in love, we wanted good food, and they have that. Beer is available, and served cold. There is plenty of room for families, or couples, and the decor is relaxing. I had a salad and pasta. I asked for no onions or cheese on my salad, and got lettuce with one tomato, though the Italian dressing was good. The garlic bread was simple, but also good. The best part of the meal was the pizza. The crust is NY style; thin but not cracker style, with fresh ingredients and plenty of cheese. I might ask for extra sauce next time, as we like more, but NY style is with less sauce, typically. It did not take too long to get our food on a Thursday night, and the food was hot when it arrived. Good place for pizza in Houston!!

Not fresh ingredients. Incredibly disappointing.

I ordered a couple of pizzas, a cheese and a pepperoni/mushroom. I don't know why anyone would rate this high, they used canned mushrooms on my pizza. I live right down the street so this would be convenient, but it's not worth it at all...

Great pizza

Great thin-crust pizza. We ask them to cook it a little extra to really crisp up the crust. Bonus: they sell, and customize, by the slice. You can get a small Italian salad and a 1 topping slice for about $7.... good value.

Best pizza in Houston

Authentic New York style pizza, cooked to perfection over a wood fired oven. Very reasonably priced. Ideal for takeout on a weeknight. Inside is casual, always busy but not overcrowded.

Not top twenty worthy, but noy bad.

Somehow this neighborhood pizza place makes the top twenty in Houston based on reviews. It is a decent neighborhood place but certainly not worth driving past other pizza joints to eat at.

Piping hot wonderful Italian food

By JMcG |

We stopped in after a movie at River Oaks theater based on the reviews on TripAdvisor and were NOT disappointed! The ravioli was wonderful and served fresh and piping hot. The portion sizes were just right since they also serve salad and garlic bread. Just a note: their Italian dressing is the creamy Italian, not the vinaigrette Italian. The restaurant itself has a cute diner feel to it - order at the counter and then sit down. They serve wine and the house chianti was a very good compliment to the food which came out fast and so fresh. Two different kinds of sauces, both of which were excellent. This will be our go-to spot every time we see a movie at River Oaks!

Good lunch special with a salad and one piece of pizza for $7. Pizza is great. Love their garlic bread and salad dressing. Very good for for your dollar!

Great pizza

I recently visited Houston and searched on the internet for NY style pizza and came across Romano's so I decided to give it a try. It was great pizza. We ordered a large pizza with pepperoni and the crust was thin and crisp. The cheese and pepperoni were just the right amount. The sauce was good, but I felt like it needed something more spice wise. We ate there in the restaurant. They had spices on the table for you to add, like crushed red pepper and garlic, plus some grated parm cheese. I utilized all of them to spice up my pizza. I was pleased with them and will return when I visit Houston again.

Tasty but pricey for what you get

We have stopped by today to taste the NY style pizza. While we haven't been disappointed with the quality, I found the prices a bit steep for what you get. All who expect Italian type pizza this is not your place, but for the overall pizza lovers it's worth the try.

Excellent New York Style Pizza

The best New York Style Pizza in Houston. Reminds me of where I grew up in NY/NJ. They also have probably the best canoli in Houston. You get your order very quickly at this place.Good Eggplant Parmesan also. Good service and nice people run this place.

Good local family owned pizzeria

Got recommended to try this spot by some local guides who had said it was top notch NY pizza close to shopping centers. Wow, didn’t expect to find this good pizza and Italian dishes in heart of Texas. Staff moved quick and got us ordered real fast, took about 15-20 for pizza pie and fishes to come out which was ok because of quality.

We've been coming for years and love their pizza. With family originally from NY, we appreciate their style and flavors...and personalities.
