Hands down best pizza downtown

Love it here

By krisevavold |

Fast friendly service (even when they are slammed) and wonderful pizza! Best pizza around by far!! I've been eating here for years and have never been disappointed.

i love this place. how does grease and thin pizza and fresh cheese taste so delicious? cash only. long lines. worth it.

Best pizza slices in downtown!!

By PleaseTakeMe2 |

Stop by Rosa's for a slice or order a whole pie for delivery. If you are on a diet, you will surely ruin it because this pizza is so delicious and you have your choice of toppings. They also offer meatballs, lasagna, and other Italian faves. The line can be long sometimes so go a little ahead of the lunch hour if you want to get in and out quickly; however, service is generally fast. Small seating area upstairs with other options for seating outside. Very, very good and inexpensive. I recommend.

great cheese pizza!!!!

2 slices and a drink for $6 i believe. I always go since I go to Georgia State. This place is one of the best New York style in my opinion in atlanta.

Great Pizza with Authentic NY Grime

By ATL_Jacket |

Rosa's has the best pizza I've eaten in Atlanta. I never thought I'd be the type of person to knock a restaurant for cleanliness, but Rosa's just isn't clean. The dining section of the restaurant is has crumbs and wrappers everywhere consistently. Napkins are scarce. The pizza's worth eating here, but get it to go. I recommend the hot sausage.

Great pizza at a great price

By Chattsteam57 |

Took the family to Rosa's wanting to get a slice of pie like they serve in NYC and this hit the spot. Price was great, pizza was great, slices are HUGE and the service was perfect! Will definitely be back.

Best pizza place near Georgia State campus and all of downtown. Pizza is okay but sausage rolls are the best thing on the menu. Besides the mini cannoli.

Really??

By Amanda H |

Is this really number 2 in the city of Atlanta... give me a break. It is greasy by-the-slice pizza in a gross building. The tables are wobbly and you leave reeking of pizza. I go to GSU so I have eaten there a couple of times with classmates, but I would never recommend this place. Certainly not to out of town visitors.

Great pizza

By GeorgiaDuck83 |

Took my son to downtown Atlanta for a slice of pizza at Rosa's. I used to work around the corner from here and came here when it opened in 1991. It's still about my favorite pizza place in the city. Great service and people.

Very Good Pizza

By spinnnnerr |

I've been coming to Rosa's for 5 years now. 2 slices of one topping pizza and a drink for $6, what a deal. The pizza is NY style. I also love their meatballs which has a great sause. Be prepared for long lines during lunch time, but well worth it.

Best Pizza in Atlanta

By asufan97 |

I found this place when I worked downtown. Family run and only open during the weekdays closing at 6:00 pm. It has wonderful sauce and atmosphere with an affordable menu. If you have the opportunity definitely swing by for two slices and a fountain. You will not regret!

Great pizza, Good Price

By Chris C |

The pizza is thin crust and very tasty. You can order by the slice and they have a good deal that includes 2 slices and a drink for under $8. Not bad. The place is usually pretty crowded, so best bet is to get here early. Additional seating area is downstairs. The business is family run and they are very friendly. Just a great experience!

A great slice

By TravelingGnome66 |

I came here while visiting atlanta. Just a short walk from the Hyatt, this is a great place for a slice. Very good NY style pizza. Loud and brash, the atmosphere is great. Prices were perfect for a lunch. $6.25 for 2 slices with a drink.

It is what it is - awesome

By Christy k |

Jeez, you don't get it. You don't go to Rosa's for ambiance, you go there for the awesome food for a decent price at lunch. This isn't some fancy-smancy sitdown italian place with $50 bottles of wine, it's good solid affordable lunch food. Anytime I'm downtown for lunch I go to Rosa's. Period.

Great Pizza. Not Good Pizza. Great, Great Pizza

By TripTipDad |

This review should be read as if Tony Bennett is reading the review, aloud.... ROSA'S PIZZA! Right there down on Broad street. Little hole in the wall pizza joint. It's got great, great pizza. And the folks back there behind the counter are as nice as they can be. It reminds me of a little neighborhood joint I used to frequent with the broads down there in the Village. I once at a whole pie by myself and looked down only to see a grease stain in the shape of MOTHER THERESA on my tux shirt. That night, I had the best concert of my life. But I digress. It's got great, great pizza, great, great people, and you've got to eat it while it's hot. It gets a bit of a crowd at lunchtime, but man oh man they can set em up and knock em down. Great, great spot for pizza.

Still the same after 10+ years - Pizza and Calzones

By Davis S |

This place has not changed a bit in 10+ years. Ate here years ago till my office moved, but I was in the area today during lunch today and 3 of us decided to revisited Rosa's Pizza. Looked like a lot of the same people still making Pizza's and Calzones for the masses. Pretty good lunch special 2 - 1 topping slices and a soda for $6.50 (tax included). Slices come out hot and fresh and the calzone had a pound of toppings for $0.75 each. The place is small and cramped and at lunch there will be a line out the door, but it moves fast, this is nothing new. Grab your meal and head down the steps at the back of the restaurant where you'll find additional seating. Nice to return to a place after 10+ years and see the same people and the food is what I expected.

Great NY Pizza

By exaavb |

Rosa's has a downtown restaurant, and one in Marietta. Their white pizza is excellent, as is their spinach lasagna (only at downtown location). And their pizza slices are also excellent. Not a fancy place, but very good quality, and reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

Local dive shop pizza that should be on DDD

By Keith B |

We found this place on TA, this joint had a line out the door at 3 pm on a Thursday. If you are into good food at a cheap price this place for you. Cops, construction workers, local business people and random "characters" line up for this pizza. We were warmly greeted by a gentleman that has probably worked there longer than I have roamed the Earth, he knew probably 70% of the people by name that were in line. 2 slices with toppings and a drink was 5 bucks, great deal in Atlanta or where ever you are.

Best pizza in Atlanta!

By JaiDe J |

This is hands down my Favorite pizza in Atlanta! Great prices to go along with a great location. Good New York style pizza!

Still the BEST pizza & calzone in Georgia!

By Speach4tay |

I use to go to this place years ago when I worked downtown. This place is STILL the best hands down. The only reason I have not been in years is because I no longer work downtown. Now they are open on Saturday and have curbside pickup! The pizza tastes great and the calzones are huge and start at $4.99! Great prices. Fast service. Friendly atmosphere.

The Perfect Pizza Joint!

By Pretty_Peach |

As a pizza lover, I must admit that Rosa's Pizza is an ideal place to get great food. They prepare everything "old-school" style so you likely won't have to worry about hydrogenated oils unlike other popular pizza chains. I love their calzones with spinach, mushrooms, and extra cheese. However, one slice of pizza is very, very cost efficient for people looking to save money. In the summer, it's particularly nice to grab lunch there and enjoy the lively downtown atmosphere. (Sometimes there are live musicians for lunch hours on the block.) Don't feel intimidated by a long line because it moves quickly. Also, be prepared to clearly shout out your order when it's your turn!

Great Busy Pizza Place

By AdamYankton |

The staff were not that friendly but they also had a long line and were getting people through fast still. The pizza was very good and a great deal.

AMAZING

By jocey38 |

I have had pizza from everywhere but man oh man this place had the best pizza I've ever tasted!! The employees were so much fun too and looked like they enjoyed what they were doing! Great place to eat and visit!

No wonder they're out the door

By dotters |

Really excellent pizza. Patrons run in at lunch time and the place is packed. There is a branch in Marietta. Pizza is New York Style. Pastas and calzones (never tried them) offered as well. Everyone walks out happy! One of the best around.

DISGUSTED

By Tour57391382008 |

Two days ago, I went to Rosa's Pizza (located by Georgia State University) and ordered a pizza. While eating, I noticed that the toppings were falling off (I was okay with that). Later, I found a bug near the pizza. Today, I went back to the restaurant to request a refund. However, the staff member I spoke to said that I needed to show them the box with the bug inside, and I had a video of it, which they didn't want to see and accept. I threw away the box with the bug as soon as I noticed it. I couldn't return to the restaurant on Monday because it was closed, and on Tuesday, I was busy. Now, on Wednesday, they are telling me that I can't get a refund because I don't have the box with the bug in it. Do they expect me to keep the box with the bug in it for two days? This is unacceptable, and absolutely disgusting. The person who I was talking to didn't show any remorse and didn't apologize for the incident instead, he kept harping about the pizza box the bug was in. I would like to support the black-owned business however, this business was very unprofessional and unapologetic. I hope nobody experience what I experience. 1/5.

Consistently great

I have been eating here since they opened 25 years ago. Always great pizza at a great price. They found a winning formula and have stayed with it.

Amazing Dive pizza!

By WeRSojourners |

Having tried several pizza places in GA NOT JUST ATLANTA ... We were hesitant. But on the recommendation of a guy from NY. We decided to give this a try. We loved the neighborhood. It reminded us so a scaled down Mountain View CA. before it was updated maybe. Anyway. So we popped in and first thing we are greeted by the the food prep/ order taker and he was hilarious especially since this newb didn't know what I was doing how they did things. Wanting to try more than just pizza I ordered lasagne. I was informed I could get mixed meat & spinach for the same price and was asked if I wanted ranch or Italian --- this is where I was baffled!!! It came with salad and I was thinking on my lasagne?!?!?! The guy about fell on the floor! The man ordered pizza & sausage roll. We really should have checked the portion sizes they are GINORMOUS! (Except salad). Being from CA I can't testify to whether this is NY STYLE but it was a pretty good pizza thin crust. And as said the slice was huge!!!!! The prices were awesome! All total we paid including refillable sodas about 20$ For 2 pizza's slices lasagne, sausage roll , salads and sodas. The man loved his sausage roll the lasagne was probably the best part in my opinion. It's definitely a diner drive in & dive kind of place but for good food @ amazing prices and lots of it you are in the neighborhood I would definitely recommend. Lastly Don't be misled by the limited seating go downstairs and there is plenty and clean restrooms! Yay! Yes it is one of those places that should be featured on a TV SHOW.

Great Food, but Off Day

By klumac21 |

I really wanted to give them a 5 star rating, but the guy working the register wasn't the nicest person on earth. Granted he seemed to be settling the receipts at the time, but there really is no need to completely turn your head from the waiting customers and the guys working the oven only to appear upset when there is a back-up and food jumble up. The whole thing incident was due to several things going on, but he was the only one to outwardly express frustration, which included a faint punch in the air and a head jerk toward on of the other workers. Everybody has a bad day at some point. I would definitely give them another chance cause the pizza is SOOOOO good!

Best New York style pizza outside New York

By SETraveler2012 |

Rosa’s Pizza has to be the Best New York style pizza outside New York. The pizza taste like real authentic New York Pizza and the pictures of New York reminds me of a New York pizza place you would find in the Big Apple. The pizza taste very fresh with the finest ingredients and although the lines are very long for their pizza (since you could wait up to 10 minutes to get your food), they have good food options at reasonable prices and their customer service is excellent. If you choose to go to Rosa’s Pizza, make sure you know what exactly you want because when they call “NEXT,” they want to serve you because there is a long line of customers just to eat their delicious food.

Good Pizza for lunch at a great price

By SouthernTrvlr |

This is not the best pizza in Atlanta (IMHO) but as the sign on their menu board says, "even when it is bad, it is still pretty good." Do not be discouraged by the long line, it moves super quick and your order will be taken while you are waiting in line so your food is usually ready when you get to the front. Take a minute to chat with the judge, policeman, business person, or other random stranger waiting in line with you and know that you are going to get some good food. They have a lunch special of 2 slices with one topping each with a drink for $6.50, but I had the calzone. Always good. They are now open on Saturdays as well. They have plenty of room for dining downstairs, and if you have time, check out the architecture in the rest of the Healey Building.

The only real NYC pizza...

By Todd B |

The only real NYC pizza in Atlanta. Great stuff

Great, cheap New York style pizza in Atlanta

By FoodCritic42 |

Great pizza, great service, great price. Enormous slices of great pizza. The place is very authentic New York. I love it. The only complaint is that it's always packed, like lines 20+people long. But A) that's authentic New York and B) it's because the pizza is so good and the price is so reasonable. They also make pizza for large parties in advance, but for the real experience you have to go in. I highly recommend it. They do close at 6pm and historically are not open on weekends, though that may have recently changed to include Saturday hours.

Love it!

By Roshaundra W |

I used to be a student at Georgia State and a friend turned me on to this place! The pizza was good, but I loved the lasagna. It was always piping hot and fresh. But, don't expect to sit down. Not a big place and you're lucky if you can catch a seat. It was always busy, but they served you good and fast. Can't wait to make a visit soon.

Surprisingly yummy!

By elm7501 |

Honestly I was not impressed when I walked in and saw the premade pizza slices and then worse yet when they handed me my final product which had mushrooms all over the top and no cheese but I kept going and can I just say - so Yummy! Definitely a different kind of pizza but one Big yummy slice!!

Quick NY Pizza

By Cynthia V |

This is a place that specializes in serving a noontime crowd. Assembly line style. Which is fine, but you ought to know that up front. Pizza is good; prob the closest you'll find to actual NY pizza.

One of the best, if not the best, pizza joint in Atlanta!

By DaBombDiggy |

I happen to stumble on the gem when taking training downtown Atlanta. I had been on a quest for years trying to find pizza like the pizza in Brooklyn... and let me tell you, I found it! If you miss that pizza from NYC, you will feel a bit of nostalgia with the first bite of your slice. If you want to try real NY pizza but don't want to go to NY, travel down to Broad Street... you'll be coming here for your pizza needs for now on!

Best pizza in Atlanta!

By krisp121 |

I always compare to this to every pizza joint I've ever been to and this always comes out on top!

Busy, Busy

By sportsinfoguy |

We were there during lunch on a break from a seminar. There was a line, but they are masters of line management and can move people through in quick fashion. Very good food and it is in an area that is great to sit outside and eat. Very cool.

Great Pizza

By cjatlanta2 |

Atlanta is not known for its pizza so I have always looked for good pizza like I had at home in NJ. Rosa's fits the bill. It is authentic not a wanna be NY/NJ/Philadelphia pizza place.

Best pizza in Atlanta!

By Leapfrogisaac |

By chance we stopped at this restaurant. If you like New York style pizza this is the place to go in Atlanta. It’s not fancy and upscale, it is simply delicious and authentic NY style pizza. We got a few slices and then when back for more. We dined at several other restaurants while stuck in Atlanta because of Delay Airlines (they use the name Delta), and this place was the best. We would repeat but hope to never be stuck in Atlanta again!

Really good pizza!

By M H |

This was my first visit to Rosa's, but it won't be my last. I tried the cheese pizza & it was so good! I can't wait to try the other many, many types of slices! It gets very crowded very fast, so be prepared for a wait.

Best Authentic New York Pizza

By Dionne D |

I've been eating at this place for well over 20 plus years. This is the best New York pizza around town! It smells like New York.

Don’t let the food report score scare you

By nerysm2017 |

The line was stacked outside of the restaurant. Good sign for good eats. 20 minutes later, I got to experience the hype. The spinach & pepperoni slice was perfectly baked. Could have used a bit more cheese, but tasty none the less.

Good pizza!

By aleahalia |

I dont normally like these kind of hole in the wall pizza places but I really enjoyed this one! I got two slices of peperoni pizza and a coke. Service was good and I would definitely go back.

It's ok if you don't expect much

By Charles S |

I've eaten here a few times for lunch. For the price it is okay but it seems hit or miss whether or not the food will be good. This time was definitely a miss. Could not eat the lasagna and threw it away. It was during semester break at the holidays so many of the food shops aren't even open this week and business is slow. Maybe that was why the food wasn't good this time. ??

Another one of my favorite college eateries! Good pizza & calzones!!

Tiny place, big slices!

Visiting Atlanta for a conference. Needed something good, quick and inexpensive. This hit the spot! NY style pizzaria. Long line moved quickly. Pizza slices piping hot.

Lunch

By ndonthu123 |

Have been eating lunch here for over 10 years. Good thin crust pizza. Very reasonably priced. There is always a 10 minute wait as they bake your slice after you order.

Great pizza, good prices

Rosa's is an excellent spot for authentic New York style pizza. We had pepperoni slices and a mini cannoli. It was all very tasty.

Good pizza by the slice.

Expect to yell out your order when you queue up at this college-preferred eatery. The food is good and not too pricey.

Downtown Atlanta Pizza

By yellowpixels |

Better than I expected - this hole in the wall location is aimed at a specific demographic and does a good job of serving it.

Love Rosas

By dwtraveldude |

I spent 4 years at nearby Georgia State University and ate many lunces at Rosas and was never disappointed. The pizza is great and comes in large slices and the calzones and stromboli are also excellent. The best part is that at lunch time you get to yell out your order from across the restaurant and by the time you get through the line to the register your order is ready for you. If you are in downtown Atlanta and you want some great pizza from a non-chain restaurant, Rosas is the perfect place for you.

Great pizza if you are downtown.

By nbeard |

Great pizza if you are downtown.

best pizza in Atlanta

By schoenj |

they are succeeding in Alpharetta where 2 other pizza places did not. their crust is top quality people who prefer thin crust may not like Rosa's as much We are closer to Alessio's and Johnny's (both of which we like also) but Rosa's gets the prize and is worth the trip

Great Pizza, Great Price!

By BILLJ_GA |

Good place to have pizza at lunch time. Get there before 11:45 to avoid the line that always forms. Also, you may want to eat outside or the dining area downstairs to avoid smelling like pizza for the rest of the day. My friend that moved to Atlanta from Brooklyn says Rosa's is the best pizza he has had since leaving NY.

Pretty good pizza

By biscardicreative |

Great for a lunchtime pizza if you are in the area, certainly better than fast food / delivery pizza options. Good sauce though the crust left something to be desired for me. Still overall, a good pizza.

Excellent NY style pizza

By Hillary M |

Big slices, salads, lasagna - what more could you ask for? Lunch specials include either pizza slice or lasagna. You can't go wrong with either. Popular place for GSU students.

Pretty good pizza

By NorthCarolinaRoy |

Pizza was really good, I can see why this place is so popular. Got alot for my money. Place is pretty small and boxes are stacked everywhere. Can be hard to find if you are not local. Overall, it was worth the trip.

Great pizza, take it from a native

By mustangmarc |

Rosa's is a great place for pizza and a favorite of locals. Just make sure you can yell out your order from a long distance if you come at lunch time :) I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting my hometown.

a neighborhoood find

By kdrisc57 |

Pizza good enough that the restaurant is only open M-F from 11 to 6... for 20 +/- years!. Not knowing this, seeing the reviews on tripadvisor, com, I call at 5:55 to order a couple of pizzas only to find out they close at 6 PM. Not to worry the women says, how far away are you? I'm not really sure, she finds out from someone else in the store that it's a ten minute walk. we can make up a couple pies if you can be here in 15 minutes or so.. When I show up, not only are the pizzas done, the women who earlier had answered the phone has packed up paper plates, knives, forks, fresh parmesan cheese and crushed red pepper. Not only was the Pizza very good, I want to do business with folks like this.

Pizza is good and fast

By Gorgeous-Island |

If you want pizza in a hurry and good also, you much stop in and share the experience during lunch or dinner.

Great pizza fast

By MaryClare P |

We got pizza here while visiting GSU & it was great! Yummy pizza and huge slices for a good price. We got the lunch combo of two slices and a drink for 7.99. It was busy, but they got it out fast.

Fantastic Parm Sandwich

By Mea37 |

My wife and I were visiting Atlanta and were looking for a quick snack and found this place online and decided to give it a try. The pizza was really good but I wanted to try something different so I ordered the Sausage Parmigiana Sandwich and it was really good. There was a little bit of spice with the sausage but the sauce and cheese complimented it nicely. This is a great little find and if you're in the old town part of Atlanta, stop by and give it a try.
