We had a good dinner here; no complaints

By Steven K |

Rosaline is a teeming, bustling, busy restaurant. The cuisine is inspired Peruvian, but with other cultural influences. (Some reviewers have complained that it's not authentic Peruvian. I don't think that's their intention.) Everything that my wife and I had was very good. Drinks - my cocktail featured mezcal. My wife's had pisco. We liked them both. Ceviche - We ordered 1 plate of ceviche to share with our cocktails. The centerpiece was sea bass. This was my wife's favorite plate of the whole dinner. The menu items are intended to be shared. We ordered a salad and a plate of grilled shrimp. The salad was outstanding - unusual and very flavorful. It was called solterito. It consisted of lima beans, avocado, small tomatoes that had been lightly roasted, pickled onions, feta, olives, and corn. (This was my favorite.) The shrimp was very good, but not particularly unique or distinctive. I probably wouldn't order that one again. But there were several other menu items that looked appealing and that I would consider on a future return visit. So overall, we were pretty pleased by our experience at Rosaline. We liked our food. Good drinks. Friendly, efficient service. Relaxing ambiance. We felt our meal was fairly priced. But there are some items on the menu that are pretty pricey. That may have influenced some of the reviewers who have complained that the restaurant is expensive. We're not vegetarians. The restaurant has a whole menu of vegetarian items. The only thing I'd caution, if you want 'vegan,' that is no animal products whatsoever, you should specify that when you order. The diners at the table next to us ordered vegetarian paella, which was served with an egg. That was a problem for them, and the menu never stated that the vegetarian paella had an egg. So I think their complaint was pretty valid. Lastly, some reviewers have complained about the automatic gratuity that's added to the bill. That doesn't bother me. Furthermore, Rosaline is pretty doctrinaire about it. The automatic gratuity is not optional, and they do not in any way accommodate any additional tip.

Peruvian Excellence!

By Joey M |

If you are a fan of Peruvian cuisine, this restaurant is amazing. The food was robust and delicate at the same time. The seafood chaufa paella was large enough for 3 people to share, and we literally scraped the bottom of the pan it was so yummy. The butternut squash with goat cheese and miso dressing reminded me of something you would eat at Thanksgiving dinner.

Unusual dishes but very noisy

By DeborahandAndy |

So noisy we couldn't hear the waiter when on the opposite side of a round table for the 6 of us. Difficult to have a conversation across the table. Very innovative dishes, beautiful presentations- some more tasty than others. We loved the quinoa bread with three spreads- ordered a second one; enjoyed the eggplant, potato mousse and avocado in a glass; blue prawns; roasted beet salad; and the lima bean salad with avocado, tomatoes, corn, olives and pickled onions. The rice and seafood dish was OK- sea urchin, scallops, shrimp, clams and rice. Dishes are for sharing, small servings. Too busy and noisy for 60-year olds

Incredible Peruvian food

By omid58 |

This is a beautiful restaurant with a fantastic ambiance. The food is fantastic, as good as the best of Lima. Every dish was delicious. the seafood paella is highly recommended with high quality sea food and a generous portion. All the appetizers are excellent but very small portions. The service is friendly and very efficient. overall we had an excellent celebration of my wife's birthday.

Worth the Hype

By Matthew C |

Yes it’s sceney and expensive...but this is a phenomenal place. Everything we ordered (group of six with one vegan) was excellent, with a couple of dishes (particularly the family-style paella and branzino) exceeding even that mark. A wonderful choice for a big-deal dinner.

Paella and drinks

By Rolf H |

Rosaline is a noise place in its positive format. Paella is a must and don't miss out on a few of the drinks.

High Priced

By Traveler |

The 5 of us ate here for dinner. They seated us outside next to the street. It was too noisy so we asked to be seated inside. The hostess was kind enough to seat us inside at the back of the restaurant. We were so lucky to get the best table in the house! We ordered the Pan Andino and loved the butter, olive and jam spreads. We also had the butternut squash salad, the Seafood and Veggie Paellas and Arroz Con Pollo. They were all delicious! I think they are over priced for what you get. They have a nice atmosphere and the service was good. Be sure not to tip. You are already charged 20 percent for your tip. They mention they don't like tips, but charge you anyway.

Nice find

By Thomas J |

Living in this West LA neighborhood where there is no shortage of restaurants I wanted something new and different. Peruvian cuisine is hard to come by, so that was a draw. I ordered the chicharron de paiche appetizer. Was not expecting anything special because while I like chicharron (when I can get them) the dry and crunchy rinds are usually a sort of snack you'd get like you'd get chips and salsa. Rosaline's were meaty and moist and just slightly crispy, made to be eaten by fork and not hand. I don't know how they prepare them this way but they were the best, and came on a tasty little bed of sauce. My entree was Arroz Con Pollo, a dish common to Mexico and and South America, with a Spanish influence. The chicken, slow-roasted indeed, arrived plump and juicy. Like the appetizer there was a delicious rather creamy sauce whose ingredients I neglected to ask about. What really made it was the rice. Made with cilantro it was green, moist though not sticky, and nicely seasoned. Service - A+. Julia was working the bar. Besides delightful she was both knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the food, and ready with helpful suggestions. Would like to return with some friends as the menu includes many entrees for "La Familia" that I look forward to trying.

disgusting food

By coerie |

My friend and I, both Peru-goers - me three times in the last 40 years - had a disgusting meal here. I ordered a rice dish with seafood which came in a tomato-base, something I've never had in Peru. The sea-food was undercooked, shrimp (which should never be under-cooked) and octupus. The starters were equally disgusting, both of them deep-fried. Where was the marinated fish with flavours of lime, aka ceviche? If you want Peruvian, avoid this place.

Great food, although serving is a bit small

By purplemuse |

Loved the ambience, the restaurant has a buzzing atmosphere. Cocktails are great, good wine list. Food is quite good, but serving is quite small. The place gets packed, so definitely book a table in advance.

Disappointment

By 310Andy018 |

Rosaline was highly recommended by everyone we spoke to at our hotel. So we were disappointed by the reality. Smallish, dark, & noisy. We could not see faces more than a few feet away & had to lean forward & shout to be heard by table mates. The music was deafening. As for the food, it was adequate, not really special as we had been led to believe. Except for the paella, which was perfectly prepared. The cocktails were pedestrian. Our server was friendly & helpful & the host was gracious. No reason really to return as the West Hollywood area has a wonderful selection of interesting restaurants.

energetic scene with terrific food

By andrew w |

we arrived here toward the end of the night just off a plane from the east coast. But even still was a very lively scene but were seated (w/out reservation) easily enough. we were not terribly hungry but in need of a cocktail. So enjoyed our cocktails and ordered the actions (marinated olives, eggplant puree). Then ordered the arroz con mariscos to share. both were perfect - decent size portion probably enough for one person, two people was a little stretch but since we not overly hungry after flight was perfect. One note i did not see on the menu that the tip was included. I don't have an issue with this but was just startled as I was searching for where to add the tip to the bill. Some people take issue so I bring it up just so you are prepared when you go. we would definitely return here as was a decent place to eat and try peruvian food, enjoy a little nightlife and energy in hollywood.

Amazing Experience! 10 Stars!

By Lynn W |

This restaurant offers delicious food from an extensive menu. It was our first foray with Peruvian food and we were thrilled that we decided to try this restaurant. The service was excellent, and our waitress was very helpful in guiding us with menu choices. Everything was well-prepared and absolutely delicious. I would give this restaurant 10 stars if I could! We will definitely return the next time we're in the Los Angeles area.

Nice ceviche, poor paella

By Jack G |

We are used to having scaled down dining experiences with COVID restrictions, but Rosaline was a downward adjustment to even scaled down experience. Let's start with the positives: nice room, beautiful bar, busy place, great ceviche. On a neutral side, I will give the restaurant a benefit of doubt and accept that it wasn't a hair but a strand of celery stalk in two dishes (one of which had no celery). What was the negative is the paella: way too much salt and clams just did not taste great and when they don't taste great, that's hard to forget. Finally, desert menu was so unattractive, had to go to another restaurant to get it. Overall, the place is not cool enough to have inconsistent food.

Trendy Peruvian spot

By Shanelle |

Trendy Peruvian place in WeHo. Came here with my family on a Sunday evening and had dinner reservations. We were seated immediately. The space feels like a greenhouse as there are many hanging plants and a glass roof - tres chic. We split a kanpachi ceviche, yuquitas fritas, beef hearts, diver scallops, and lomo saltado. Everything was fresh and tasty. The lomo saltado was the standout dish for our table. The yuquitas fritas came with feta cheese which I thought was quite interesting along with a yellow sauce. The scallops came in four along with a citrus salad. For dessert, we got the bon bons which were absolutely delicious. The chocolate coating was high quality and the lucema ice cream filling was unique. Our waitress was friendly. It’s a no tipping zone and there’s a 20% service charge. There is a private area for a long table if you have a bigger group. Credit cards accepted. Metered street parking.

Peruvian gem!

By Gazelle27 |

Festive atmosphere with lively music, Rosaline serves delicious Peruvian dishes with a light California touch. Highly recommend starting by parting a cocktail with something from the ceviche menu, then choose from the seafood-centric dishes or one of the larger share-plates. There is something for meat lovers too. I went with only one other person so we didn’t get to get one of the larger shared-entrees so I recommend going with a group - that way you can sample everything!

Very Good, Except for Dessert

By John V |

I had a Saturday night dinner at Rosaline, and the restaurant was packed! This is clearly a very popular place. The dining room lights are turned way down, almost like a club. I ordered the Croquetas as an appetizer. The sauce had a nice amount of spice. My entree was Arroz con Pollo. Their green rice was amazing! Everything was great, until dessert. I ordered the Peruvian cake (like Tres Leches), and it took over 20 minutes to be brought to the table. In that time, I received the check, and the server came back twice, but still no cake. When the cake finally arrived, it was pretty disappointing for $17.50! The manager was apologetic and very kind to take dessert off the bill. I understand things happen, especially since they were really busy. Note that the restaurant says they are "non-tipping", but instead add a 20% administrative charge. Overall, I had a nice dinner, and would give Rosaline a second chance if I'm in the LA area again.

Perfect Group Dinner Setting

By MatchstickLive |

We had a private space for our dinner and it was perfect. Great share plates that were delicious in a chic spot on Melrose Ave. Would definitely recommend to come here again.

Grand Tour California

By Warren K |

Huge disappointment, after eating Peruvian food in Milan at Pacifico we were so excited to experience another new place in LA. Ugh, where do I start! Decor interesting but all hard and therefore so loud you can here no one!! Pisco Sour was good but at 22,00 per drink crazy and not worth the experience! Food not interesting at all to many flavors that overwhelms your ability to enjoy! Sadly this is not anything close to Peruvian food and what it's known for! Price was way out of wack! 4 people 500,00 was crazy not one aspect was enjoyed and I predict this place will close soon! It's sad Peruvian food can be amazing and Rosaline has missed its mark!

Fabulous all around

By Elizabeth G |

Super fun atmosphere with lights hanging among potted plants for a patio feel. Great, friendly services. The food is without compare. We had a big party and so tried many dishes - all were excellent. Loved the layered dip appetizer, and the paella with crispy rice. Chicken was moist, tender, flavorful. Tres Leches for dessert - amazing. We'll be back.

Nope. He's done much better Peruvian, LA has way better/cheaper

By Plumeria D |

I thought long and hard about writing this review. I am a humble peon, not a restaurant owner. Seems Rosaline gets a lot of love from them. I have been to Peru, where I learned to make ceviche. The ceviche I had at Rosaline was too acidic, contrary to authentic Peruvian style. In order to prove my point, all of us who ate at Rosaline on December 23, had some ceviche from Lonzo's in Culver City. It was EXACTLY what I expected, large portion, more reasonably priced, better than Rosaline's. Ricardo Zarate has had at least 3 Peruvian restaurants in LA in the past, I have eaten at his now closed Marina del Rey place and his now closed Pico Blvd. place. Rosaline is exactly the same, with more aggressive music. Staff is efficient, but could be machines, they are not easy to find and stiff/formal for such youthful, noisy space. Food: Ceviche was not good, way too acidic. A shrimp dish was very spicy, but not described that way on the menu. Again, I've been to Peru- as a rule, they don't eat spicy food, will season with pico de gallo. Please tell guests if a dish is spicy. Paella was good, but again, just went to Lonzo's and their rice dishes are wonderful, too. And a whole lot cheaper. Space: They took us to a nasty, tiny prison cell of an outdoor area with 2 tables and a space heater. It was cold and nasty. We balked, and hostess said we asked for it. NO! We were with our 101 year old relative, and the hostess couldn't care less We kind of had to put up a stink to get an indoor table. Oh, we had reservations for a month! Whatever you do, don't sit outside in that prison cell. Why dine at a pricy Peruvian restaurant and pay a premium for Melrose Ave? If Ricardo Zarate holds his pattern, this restaurant will be closed soon anyway, so don't fall in love, either. Try Lonzo's Bakery or El Huarique West L.A. Humble to be sure. No reason to listen to the local chefs, do what you want at your own price point. This is LA, there are many options.

Loved it

By Ray D |

We loved our dinner at Rosaliné, a new Peruvian fusion hot spot in West Hollywood. Trendy and noisy but the food is extremely interesting and tasty, and the service is speedy. Lots of pisco, mezcal, meat, mariscos, and of course quinoa, but thankfully no roast cuy. Rosaliné also has a diverse menu of paellas, which are not particularly Peruvian as far as I can remember — we didn’t try those but people seated near us raved about their paella.

NO thank you, next

What was supposed to be a perfect New Years idea turned into one of the most bizarre and unwelcoming experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Five friends and I decided to ring in the New Year at Rosaline and all day we were genuinely so excited with our plan. We got to the restaurant at 10:40pm for our 10:45pm reservation. The hostess let us know that our table wouldn’t be ready for 20 minutes but couldn’t guarantee that because they refused to let other tables know the next party was there...Strike one. When they finally sat us, our server Molly came up and immediately said the kitchen was closing and we should order. That was our FIRST interaction. So we rushed through ordering without even getting a chance to settle in. Why even offer that time if you’re going to rush your guests? And when we ordered drinks it took so long that every time we thought - did they forget? Strike Two. At midnight we were passed the champagne (after asking for it). Shortly after toasting our server said, and I quote “Well the kitchen’s closed, the bar’s closed, so I can’t give you anything. Want the check?” Strike Three. What the absolute f*%#. Having worked as a waitress myself, I could not believe the treatment we were given when paying for a meal that was incredibly marked up. To say the least, we were all very disappointed with how we spent the evening. If you’re ever thinking of choosing Rosaline for an event. Think again.

Love it.

Amazing food. Beautiful atmosphere. Great service. Well worth a visit. The drinks are amazing as well

****the tip is added to bill***

By Danielle D |

The food is inconsistent. Went there last Thursday and it was good although they had a problem with the bar and no cocktails were available. The second time the service was wanting. *****this is KEY*** they add the tip already into the bill. So in conclusion some waiters are bored at best. But our experience was incredibly distasteful. I ordered a martini, same thing I have been having for 20 years a grey goose with olives. Ordered a second one waited 20 minutes, it came with gin...sent it back, asked where it was, the waitress said i am working on it and went a different direction from the bar. It finally comes 15 minutes later comes a slice of lemon; I say i am allergic. The next thing you know the untactful "manager" by the name of Sean says "what happened". Thinking he is there to apologize..he says "you sent back two and i am not having another one brought over so you can't have it" in a world in which restaurants come and go this is not the kind of moron you want being the face of your restaurant. I said to him you are in a service business...even my 11 year old said he was so rude. He refused to listen, much less apologize and said he refused to bring another drink. Well this is what happens when you are arrogant and you already pad your check with the tip whether the service sucks or not. The meat (Rib eye) which was supposed to be incredible , it was dry and tasteless. Lastly the waitress comes over and says: I took the two martinis off the check because i think you were right"...really??? because I sent them back! The check with one drink for three people was $300 Tick tock...

Best dinner ever

Very nice place on Melrose Av. Surprising cocktails and the food.... amazing. Ambiance great and staff super friendly. Wish we had a place like this in Amsterdam, I would go every week💕

Great ceviche

By Michael S |

The ceviche was great. Tried almost all of it and the balance of the flavor was spot on. The entrees looked great on the menu, but I only at apps. Had a ton of apps and they were so delicious. Definitely didnt dissapoint

Fun Peruvian in WeHo

By artmanintoronto |

Great Pisco sours before we sat down, then wonderful ceviche appetizers and mains of arroz con pollo and juane de chancho were fantastic. It's loud and joyous, and, yes, the tip is added to be bill, but they ask you to leave no more. And the service, at least our experience of it, was that it was good. Really worth a try.

Dinner with husband.

By RadDocMom |

So started off badly. We were 15 min late for reservation because of traffic on laurel canyon. Our reservation was 5:45. They threatened to release the table despite the phone call to let them know. Then when they sat us they said we had to leave our table at 7:15 for another reservation. Do the math. That’s 1 hour 15 min for dinner on Saturday night. We ordered two sets of cocktails. Food came well before cocktails. When we left there were at least 5 tables for 2 open. This restaurant needs to lose the attitude and chill. The food was interesting. Entertaining. Unfortunately we won’t be coming back. Two stars was generous.

Very interesting

By Cyrilsboy |

For an extraordinary take on Peruvian food in a new style, this is the place. Best dishes are Rosaline's version of paella and the pureed, multi layer compote of vegetables.

Rosaline Peruvian restaurant an eating experience

By Maria P |

A very trendy restaurant, very nice atmosphere, lots of young successful people! Valet parking, gracious friendly servers. Expensive!

Prepare to be Amazed!

By Brian M |

I've eaten some terrific places in many years of business travel, but Rosaline' is truly amazing. My LA friend insisted that we go, even if a late night reservation was all we could get. Chef Ricardo Zarate blends Peruvian dishes with yes, Asian influences to create some of the tastiest foods you have ever put in your mouth. I didn't know what hit me. I wasn't prepared to be so impressed. Here are some must-haves; solterito (lima beans salad, avocado, blistered cabernet tomatoes, pickled onions, feta, botija olive, choclo corn), anticucho bife ancho (28 day dry-aged wood-grilled ribeye, sesame huacatay saucee), and sudado de choritos (black mussels, sudado fish stew, aji amarillo chili lime broth). The combination of spices and charcoal smoked grill flavors are simply incredible. This is culinary magic and you should not miss this new Hollywood hot spot just opened in June 2017. There's a reason it's tough to get in, so plan now.

Bizarre dining experience

By Shannon F |

Our supremely good-looking waiter was not a very good waiter. We ordered drinks only for him to return to tell us they were out of lager. (there is only one lager choice) We then ordered glasses of Rose... they were also out of that so we had to have a different one. We then ordered a dish -- they were out of that. It was getting rather ridiculous at this point -- not his fault as he is presumably not in charge of ordering/inventory -- but he did not handle it at all well. We then tried to order a few small plates and he said "it's better for the kitchen if I put in a full order" -- we were like "What???" -- so we ordered a couple of big plates (we were four people sharing) and he sniped "So you're not going to put in a full order?" after that we really didn't want to! The food is inventive -- all tasty -- but teeny tiny portions and a HUGE bill. I won't be back. Nice room though.

Ho hum..... it's ok I suppose

By GreatExpectationsUK |

If dining in noisy places with ever increasing decibels is you thing - then fine. But add in so -so service and so-so food and what have you got? Am average dining experience where you are quite glad to leave and get out to enjoy the rest of your evening!

Best Peruvian Restaurant north of Lima

By David J |

Most Peruvian restaurants serve the basics like aji de gallina and huancaina, but Rosaline channels what you might find at Maido (Lima), Raphael (Lima/Bogota), Osaka (Lima et al), Karai (Santiago) and Pakta (Barcelona), which is progressive Peruvian with creative twists. The superstar chef, Ricardo Zarate, focuses on rustic, farm-centric fare with Nikkei (Japanese-Peruvian), Chifa (Cantonese-Peruvian), reimagined classics and hyper-local dishes that you might only found in certain parts of the biodiverse country. The U.S. has several good Peruvian chefs now like Erik Ramirez (Llama Inn) and Hank Costello (formerly Andina), but Zarate rules supreme, and SoCal is lucky to have them. What to order? Go for the Peruvian-style Paella, which spends a minute or two in a 900-degree charcoal oven for some added crisp. The Peruvian tamale is amazing. Sometimes the restaurant serves its own version of the Colombian lomo al trapo, which is a must-try if on the menu. The steak is also especially good, I believe put in the high-eat oven briefly for added crisp. The salads are especially good, and Rosaline is a hot spot for vegetarians. Everything is good, but go prepared to see a menu that might seem hard to comprehend. These are progressive dishes, so they might not seem immediately familiar, but now that they are great. Also, for wine bottles, go with the Chilean option for around $52. It's the best value wine on the menu.

Wonderful Food, Nice Service, Noisy!

By JulioGM |

The food is so good here -- as is the service -- that I wish it were not so noisy! But the trendy, young, high-energy crowd doesn't seem to mind a bit. And as I said, the food is really good -- with more creative and surprising dishes than I've eaten at other contemporary Peruvian restaurants.

Dinner

Place was very hip waiters are a little dizzy food wS good service was just ok Dink’s were terrible love to have a good drink st dinner but they were watered down Not sure I’d go back

Would never return

By Whitney52 |

I hate to write a negative review but this restaurant was a huge disappointment. We had hoped for a lovely Peruvian dinner but sadly the experience was one I would never want to revisit. The staff was abrupt and service slow. We had a number of black flies around the table and who knew that the restaurant had a C Rating! Had we known of this we would never had walked through the front door. The food was okay but portions very small, especially the Family Size portion that was supposed to be generous amounts, absolutely a disappointment. To top things off, the bill was huge.

Yummy

By danadane0610 |

You don't have to go all the way to Peru to get good Peruvian food. Rosaliné is just in West Hollywood just ask my Peruvian friend Sofia. Rosaliné is the newest Peruvian restaurant to hit Los Angeles. Chef Ricardo Zarate, the Peruvian born chef has definitely mastered Peruvian cuisine. He has composed a menu that he describes is family-inspired with traditional Peruvian dishes. Rosaliné, which is named after his mother, is no exception to Zarate's inspiration. Inside Rosaliné is an enlarged open space with a ceviche counter, a bar, communal tables, and a back room, terminating in a small patio, which gives a greenhouse feel. Décor elements and textures vary, making it a casual, airy and welcoming. The vaulted glass ceilings and dim lighting adds a perfect element of romance. Even though it is romantic, expect a lively environment, it is loud inside. Many dishes are meant to be shared and served family style. We shared all of are dishes. We ordered: Causa Jar: (my favorite) The Cause has fluffy whipped potatoes layered in glass with beets, eggplant, mashed avocado and aioli, slightly resembling the sand in a jar sculptures you may have assembled as a kindergarten project. Even in the jar it has a lovely, ice cream-like smoothness and density. I've never tasted anything like it, definitely unique. -Arroz Con Mariscos Sea urchin, diver scallops, tiger prawns, manila clams, seafood rice. The table shared this dish and loved it. I skipped since I'm not a seafood person. -Arroz Con Pollo mary's organic chicken breast, cilantro beer rice, huancaina feta sauce. This was my dish. The chicken was nice and tender while the cilantro beer rice gave the dish lots of flavor. -Juane de chancho: Pork ossobuco, adobo, garbanzo soft tamale, hardboiled egg, wrapped in banana leaf. The table loved it. -Costillas: slow-cooked barbecue short ribs, grilled figs, apple coleslaw. Even the apple coleslaw tasted good! Chancay Con Leche...This peruvian cake will blow your mind. Its made with goat's milk manjar blanco, coconut milk, maracuya guava frozen yogurt, torched meringue, harry's berries strawberries. A deadly combination! A MUST GET! Bon bon bons (ice cream) -Lucuma ice cream, lucuma, waffle crunch, popped quinoa, all dipped in peruvian illanka chocolate. These Bon Bons are no ordinary Bon Bons, they tasted heavenly. Satsuma sora: vodka, pisco, mandarin, lime, grenadine. Drinks are made nice and strong. One of their specialties is their ceviche even though I didn't try it, I heard it's magnificent. They also have a vegetarian options so there are choices for everyone. I can't wait to go back and try more! Once again Chef Zarate did not disappoint!

Noisy buzing restaurant

By Margeritta |

Prevuian food. Good but expensive tried. Most dishes shrimp , rib paella and their sourdough bread. Dont think will go again. Must book

Terrible!

By Benfkerr |

I didn’t understand when I was confronted with attitude and no service at the bar nor the very average service at the table as to why this restaurant would provide such bad service until the end we received the bill with 20% gratuity automatically factored in! Bad management decision as your staff are not incentivised at all to just do a decent job. Food was OK, nothing amazing but due to the bad service will never return. Too many other good restaurants to spend my time and money. Get in fast as I don’t believe this will be around for long!

Hip, Loud, and Delicious

By Heather747 |

I had no idea what to expect prior to arriving at Rosaline a few Saturday nights ago. I like to go to new places; I do not need to go to 'the' new place which Rosaline seems to fall into that category. It was busy. It was loud. That being said the staff was very nice, no attitude whatsoever. Refreshing! The food was truly amazing. The portions are small. Presentation is terrific. I loved everything I tried. There are unique dishes here, and I encourage you to try as many as possible. The ceviches are beautiful combinations of some of the freshest flavors I have ever had. We sat in the front dining room which was just okay. Next time I would either sit at the communal table or the back room which has a slightly jungle like feel to it with lots of plants. Also for next time, I would go with a smaller group or for a date night. Allow yourself some time to leisurely move through the various plates. Their creativity and goodness begs to be savored.

Great Peruvian Restaurant

By victorr5555 |

Great experience at Rosaliné, the service was great, the drink are very nice, especially the Mezcal Cocktail, such a delight, my friends took some meat and i took 2 ceviche. Amazing taste, great size portion and reasonable place in a nice decor, what could be said more.

Good food massively over priced

By Hannahfay123 |

Food was lovely, but it was extremely expensive for what it was. We had the ceviche to start which was lovely then the ribs for main which again was very nice. Wasn’t too impressed with the cocktails.

Trendy, fun restaurant featuring Peruvian cuisine

Fun, happening restaurant in West Hollywood featuring Peruvian cuisine. Great menu choices all meant to be shared. Interesting and delicious cocktails, too.

Culinary escape in LA

By ournextaadventurela |

Refreshing addition to the typical LA food scene. Nice neighborhood vibe with good cocktails and dishes. Had the ceviche crocante, pork ossobuco, grilled Branzino and Peruvian cake - all delicious. My partner didn’t care for the preparation of the Branzino but I liked it. Will order the ossobuco and ceviche next time.

Disappointing dining

By Romance2016 |

The poor service started when we entered the restaurant and called to say we would be a few minutes late and yet within the time frame of their cancellation policy. They tried to give us the worst table. The food is served as sharing plates, yet each time we had to ask for serving spoons. They include the tip so it appears there is no incentive for good service. Some of the food is good but the overall experience was disappointing.

Another great meal at Rosaline.

By John_Schunhoff |

Rosaline is a Peruvian-inspired restaurant in Los Angeles/West Hollywood. We had a great meal there last night. We started with olives, several ceviches, and moved on to one of the paella dishes and branzino. All great. Desserts were great, too. We were here once before, and don't remember the meal, but this was great. A bit noisy, but you can converse. They have craft cocktails and a good wine list, but we enjoyed the wines of our companions.

Disappointment

By Uzzi R |

We heard praised especially regarding the Paella that we adore . In general Peruvian food never appeal to us - unhealthy , much is fries , small amount of Vegetable. The place was packed , our server was the only positive point . You can not read and understand what in the appetizer and we order " most popular " it was a mishmash of different food element you can not distinguish individually. The paella was disappointment - rice with no spices , over cook , embedded with large amount of Parsley - tasteless . Also the sausage and stumps very few and tasteless . I brought " Bond" 2005 - incredible Napa most praise wine . The so called resturant "wine expert " can not call him Sommelier" The bottle was open by the server - he appear And put the wine in our glasses - did not say a world - did not look , smell or show any interest in the wine - strange !! Will not return .

Excellent Modern Peruvian Food

I was lucky enough to live in Peru for three years when I was a younger man, and was able to experience the amazing cuisine off this diverse and fascinating country. Rosaline takes these traditional recipes and elevates them to a new modern and exquisite level. From their Ceviche menu to their traditional courses such a Lomo Saltado (probably Perry's most popular dish), Roslaine provides a. delicious insight into this country's diverse and delicious cuisine.

Beautiful space, creative menu.

The patio at Rosaline--while a bit noisy/loud--is gorgeous. The menu is fresh and inspiring with a variety of dishes to satisfy most people. It is pricey, but totally worth it. Rosaline is absolutely a bright spot in the West Hollywood dining scene.

Great restaurant!!

Peruvian Magic

By Michelle K |

This place is magical! The decor, lighting, and ambiance makes for an energetic yet laid-back cool spot to have a pre-dinner drink with friends near the bar. The place has tons of greenery and plants hanging from every direction. The staff was incredibly friendly and greeted us warmly. My only constructive criticism is that we waited almost an hour for our reservation at 730PM, however, this happens in a restaurant like this where I'm sure most people are so satisfied with the meal that they don't want to leave quickly! I went with four other friends and we shared several plates. Everything was delectable and great to share! We had ceviche, a bread dish with dips, olives, steak, and a huge order of paella. Just thinking about the meal makes me salivate all over again. I will definitely go back and bring friends, family, etc. Everyone I was with shared the same sentiment. Advice: Make reservations early because this spot is a gem.

worst of the absolute worst expereince

Took them over an hour to bring appetiziers. Tiny Tiny portions. Portions too small even for a child. Very expensive sprice for the portions. I asked server why the portions are so small and her reply was "you don't like, you don't have to come back". They ad on an automatic 20% tip onto the bills.

Great food - menu

Loved every dish we tried. Tasty and well balanced flavors. I was expecting a little bit more of the pallella dish though.

Best Paella ever

By Harold H |

After having been there many times I can say that this is now one of my favorite restaurants in town. We will stop by after work for a glass of wine and the Paella to share. The place is very pleasant and very hopping as the evening progresses. I would highly recommend this place. The ceviche is amazing as is most of the dishes. There has not been one item that I would not order again but I am a sucker for the Paella.

Amazing! We started the evening

By Jon |

Amazing! We started the evening with three of the ceviche - each was unique, delicious, spicy and a love-letter to the craft. The sommelier matched our meal to an excellent Brunello. For the main course we enjoyed the family-style ribeye, branzino and paella. Everything was incredible but the paella was out-of-this world. Two of us ordered the chef’s cookbook before we had left. Rosalind will go down as one of the best dinners I’ve ever had on a business trip.

Great spot and food is DELISH!

Ok, so i have to say the food and the Pisco Sours are so good! i have been to Peru 3 times and those Pisco Sours are right up there with authentic Peruvian Pisco Sours. We went for brunch on Sunday, April 7 and this is going to be a mixed review and you will see why. First of all we were sat and we asked prior to sitting to see a menu and then they sat us with the one menu, leaving two of us without, no biggie. This is no joke, the waitress walks up and she if i had to guess is from New York originally, and says to us is verbatim, "do you want a drink?" No hello, No welcome, and we kind of laughed after we gave our order bc we thought was a joke. No it was not a joke, she was pretty much that way through out our brunch. We each ordered a menu item and was very weird or odd, my friend's plate came out and it was very good and we all kind of shared it, but though odd that the other items did not. Five minutes later after he finished his dish, w our help, my other friends dish came out and we all tried and was very good. So fast forward over 10 minutes, the waitress comes up, so do you want dessert and i said, "I have not got my food", she says, oh, i forgot the mushroom/egg burrito takes a little longer. Would have been nice to know that when we all ordered that the food would just come randomly. So long story short, Food awesome! Drinks, Awesome! Waitress, needs some people skills! i would go back to try dinner but if i got same waitress, i would ask to be seated with someone else.

COCKROACH and burnt food

By Adventure627663 |

COCKROACH. Stay away from this C RATED pig stye. Burnt paella, unseasoned branzino, arrogant staff, cockroach on wall while eating. Health department needs to shut this place down. Female curly haired manager with European accent displayed horrific behavior. She physically assaulted me as I was filming our exit and grabbed my phone out of my hand. She then told me to eff myself as I was exiting. This disaster cost $175 and another $40 at bar. Disgrace. She comped three shrimp on a plate and said she would comp drinks. We already paid for them at bar. Would never of entered restaurant if I saw C RATING from HEALTH DEPARTMENT in sneaky corner where you can’t see it.

really disappointing

By Al |

Credit where credit is due the 2 ceviche dishes were good. everything else was terrible. beef hearts were overcooked, shrimp dish had no flavour and you get 4 for 28 bucks. then the scallops, how they thought in the kitchen they could get away with it is beyond me. on the menu it says, for 35 bucks: wasabi pea, crispy quinoa, yuzu kosho, amarillo aioli, arugula salad and scallops. we got 2 scallops cut in half, arugula salad with no dressing and 3 tangerine wedges thrown on top. it was pretty pathetic. no quinoa, no wasabi peas, no yuzu kosho, no alioli. the server took it off the bill and you could tell it was not the first time.

Beautiful decor great food and music

By 3Guapastravel |

After Paiche and MoChica closed we were sad but hopeful another restaurant would open up from acclaimed chef Zarate and happy to finally dine at Rosaline! Excellent service, exquisite atmosphere, old school Salsa music and delicious Peruvian food. Definitely a treat -cocktails run around $13 and main meals average $30 per entre which feeds about 2 people. Lomo Saltado and ceviche are a must. Buen Provecho

Below expectations

I don’t understand the hype about this restaurant. The fillet mignon was mostly potatoes which was annoying for the price. The appetiser was nice but overall a disappointing meal for more than $100. Tip for the managers - get some of those little pads from the hardware store to level the table legs so it doesn’t feel like you’re dining on the sinking Titanic. Buyers remorse after dining out is the worst lol.

Amazing, unique, unexpected

By Discover632324 |

You have had paella many times and it couldn’t be much different. But you haven’t have Rosaline’s paella. It is uniquely different, unexpected, and amazing. The difference is cook time, rice type, method of cooking, limited protein ingredients (in a good way), spices, and preparation pan/skillet. When the dish is served the bottom of the dish has crispy rice (NOT BURNT) that has a lot of flavor and give the more texture. Non-paella menu options are fantastic as well. Try aceitunas, diver scallop, costillas, chaufa paella.

A great restaurant but they include 20% service in the check

By Panathinaikos-13 |

Rosaline was recommended by a friend, we manage to get a table and we enjoyed every minute of our dinner. Excellent environment, delicious food, good service & generally a wonderful experience. The Paella was really good as it was the Lomo. UNACCEPTABLE to charge in the bill 20% service.

Excellent chaufa, tasty fish, way too noisy

By sdgt625 |

Location - on Melrose strip In WeHo- my brother managed to find street parking not too far away. Service - friendly but slightly slow. Ambience - way too noisy . This is supposed to be a restaurant, right , and not a club ? The loud disco music has to go ( and I do like going clubbing from time to time ) The food - samples the tuna and halibut cerviche - the fish itself was great , but for both dishes , the sauce was way too sour . The seafood chaufa was pricy but excellent- the slightly burned rice was crunchy and tasty , and the chunks of seafood in the dish were all SUPER tasty . The lomo Saltado dish was good but not wow . The pork ossobuco dish was the most disappointing dish - it was bland and just not that tasty . Overall decent food - the seafood chaufa dish was amazing - please turn down the music .

Delicious food

By Quetzalia G |

I will definitely come back to this restaurant. The foos is delicious, although pricey for Peruvian food. I do admit though that it’s more upscale and has great ambiance. I had the Lomo Saltado which was very different but in the most amazing way. We had other dishes to share and they were all tasty. Drinks were yum as well.

Fantastic food but health-threatening noise.

By MissPerpetualMotion |

I loved the food at Rosaline. Fabulous menu and even though I detest and refuse "family style" eating, their dishes-to-share are good in portions and size. The produce is wonderful, the textures and flavors are unique. I was surprised at each dish. We were a table of six so we were able to sample a lot of dishes. Service was great except for the mass of hostesses at the front who were very nonchalant and quite patronizing. ps....why so many hostesses? Unfortunately the noise is health-threatening. We asked for the owner but he was away on a business trip in Vegas. The manager was nice but the volume of the music did not go down. Just for this reason I will, regrettably, not return. Wake up American restaurant industry! this is NOT acceptable and will be the downfall of many places as people wise up. This is an American situation. I have been to hundreds of buzzy places across Europe and I have NEVER had this noise problem before. Invest in sound proofing and sound design...ie Meyer Sound like the one used at Cala restaurant in San Francisco.....turn off the ear-splitting thumping music....anything....just stop this terrible noise pollution please.

My favorite restaurant in Los Angeles!

By Anna |

This is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in Los Angeles!! Their Paella is the best of the best. I have tried the seafood and the vegetarian one and both were equally delicious. Every since I have had it, I crave it and have to come once a week. Every thing else I have tried have not disappointed including their ceviche, cause jar, desserts (which I have tried all of them), cocktails, etc. It is the perfect ambiance and place to gather with friends or for a date night. Amazing, amazing, amazing! (Every one is extremely friendly and attentive as well!)

Heard so much about Chef Zarate

By JOe A |

This is by far the best restaurant, and the best Peruvian food I've ever tried. Chef Zarate and his team made it again. I can't wait to go back.

Tasty and beyond great (and pricy).

By E5_London |

Excellent food and service. Can recommend with no reservations — especially if you don’t mind a slightly more expensive meal (well worth the price tag). Take time to have a cocktail before the meal and try to get a seat in the atmospheric ‘back’ room!
