Just a friendly place with great beers and good food... Plus you can order from the Japanese restaurant next door

We just got off the plane and checked into the B and B. This was our first stop and recommended by our host. The happy hour menu was extensive and the food was very good. The Cream ale was good as well as the Red Rocket and Black Bear. I definitely would return to this nice neighborhood pub.

I love the food here. Southern food, good sauces, and lots of gritty Portland charm. The service is always lacking and everyone working seems inconvenienced when you approach them. I love the jambalaya tho, and will always be back to support this local business.

Roscoe's (ROCK). Our Marriage support group dinned at Roscoe's Saturday night, it was all of our first time begin at this eatery. The service was superb. The waitress took time to explained the menu to all of us with questions. The atmosphere was inviting and we had the ball. Now, the food was excellent my husband and I started of with a appetizer Chicken and waffles with honey mustard it was fantastic, then main course we had Cajun Jambalaya with shrimp(Louisiana style) WOW is the only word I can say to describe this dish. Oh I don't want to forget the cornbread it was wonderful.

I stopped in for a burger and some fries. Fun local spot. Normal bar type food. Kinda loud. All and all a good place.

Second visit to Roscoe's, this time mid week lunch. Food was pretty good! Had blackened Catfish PoBoy, with a tomato & Beer Cheese Soup. The soup was amazing, PoBoy was pretty good too. Beer was also great, I had the a Pale Ale from "Everybody's Brewery" out of White Salmon. Had there beer also in August at a Beer fest and really liked it. Roscoe's definitely went up a notch with me after this visit.

I have mixed feelings about this place. It gets quite busy on the weekends, but even when it is dead it seems that the servers are less than thrilled to be paying you any attention. They aren't rude, but it feels as if they have better things to do. The beer is delicious and they always have fun new taps and tastings. I typically enjoy spicy foods but am a bit more used to Asian spice rather than Southern spice and find that many of the dishes are too hot for me. My friends from the South who eat there do not share this problem! Definitely try the red beans and rice, it's absolutely delicious. You can also have Sushi from the place next door delivered to you while you drink in there.

Came in here with a couple friends last Friday night. They all got chicken strips and some kind of a mango cider that apparently tasted like alcoholic orange Crush. I got the smokey mac & cheese with sausage and a milk stout. The beer was pretty good, the mac & cheese was beyond compare. Cooked perfectly, the sausage was super tasty too. What was surprising was how good the service was despite the place being packed. By some miracle we snagged a booth right by the door just as it was emptied (and promptly cleaned). We weren't left waiting around, even for the check.

I had discovered that Rosco's had a new Batman Pinball machine based on the old TV show staring Adam West. So I returned to have lunch yesterday. Relax and enjoy the the simple pleasure that Rosco's has to offer. I arrived shortly after they Opened sat at 11 Am. Pretty much I had the place to myself. Took a seat in a booth along the windows facing Stark Street. In my mind I was thinking Roast beef would be nice for lunch. That is until I spotted that they had Bison Burgers. Never had bufalo before. So I ordered that and had a pint of hard cider to go with it. I think it was a cider called Compass Rose? Both were excellent. All together both cost $19. I played a little Wild Witch on one of the Video Poker Machines. Then I went for The Batman pinball with a few character sound clips from the show. I had planned ahead and brought $6 in quarters and just kept at it trying to get a feel for the machine. It shows video clips from the TV show. Each game starting out with the narrator from the TV show saying what kind of a day it was in Gotham City as the game starts. And the game seems to give you saves on the pinball fairly often. I opened the door to the patio and was surprised how hot it was out there. It was a sunny day of course. And the patio struck me as a dive. Rather black. Narrow. And seemed to be a bit confining. So if you are claustrophobic, this is not the patio for you Unless you are Steve McQueen in solitary confinement in The Great Escape! I saw on a board near my table that they have some Merchandise. T-shirts listed for $12 each. And Hoodies for $40. I didn't happen to see what the design is for Rosco's. They have a list on chalkboard of the 20 drinks they have/ Posted near the bar. and as you go into the game section that has the video poker machines, three Pinball Machines, and two pool tables. Hours are 11 AM till 2 AM.

Meanwhile, our hero foodie and DJ legend cowboy. Find Himself in a Foodie conversation @spareroompdx About a place called Roscoe's Next thing then you know I'm Here With A Yummy Adult Beverage Soft shell spiderman crab Jambalay And Gumbo with Jasmine Rice ...BTW Gotta come back because they were out of The Gumbo Dog ..... That's Right Gumbo Dog ... And I'll Be Baaaack🤠😎🤔🤘🏿🕶And Yes Everything Is Yummy Even the bartenders were Kewl

I had the cajun catfish salad and was very pleased with the flavors, size and happy hour price. My family had the gumbo and was also enthralled with the flavor.

First, it looks like a "dive" bar that is on any corner in town. But they have a great little secret, they have a restaurant that serves some of the best cat fish, jambalaya and gumbo around. And the prices are excellent. It's my own hidden gem and I've even taken a small group of newcomers there once and they all still rave about it.

Roscoe's has a decent beer selection, great happy hour food and a friendly staff. What more could you ask for in a neighborhood bar?

They were super busy when we went but the service was still on point. The food was delicious, we ate here twice during our trip. :)

awesome little hole in the wall type of place. the restaurant next door makes sushi and you can order it at Roscoe's. Roscoe's menu only really has bar food and it's OK but the sushi is awesome - what a surprise. I think they may be owned by the same person or at least have a partnership. Also, if you're a smoker, there is a smoking patio - small but cozy enough.

Roscoe's has an excellent beer selection! They do growler fills, the people are knowledgeable and the food is pretty good as well. They display local art which is also available for purchase.

Went here to start out on NYE for HH. Decent selection of beer and good happy hour prices. Really enjoyed the jambalaya.

We wandered in on a Saturday afternoon, not sure what we wanted. The bartender, Tripp, was very helpful. It was an early Spring day with the sun just peeking out. They had outside tables set up and it was so pleasant. Tripp brought out our drinks and then our food, both excellent! We'll definitely be back!

We were tired and hungry; wanted a good brew and lunch. This place is one of those .. can't really tell from the outside but relieved once we got inside. Friendly staff with huge beer selection. Bartender was cheerful and gave us a few requested tastes. Then to our delight, they had a happy hour menu of food. We chose fried cat fish strips and blackened chicken salad. The cat fish texture was a little soft but still good. The salad was delicious with spring greens and a nice spiciness on the chicken. We'd definitely go back if in the area.

I love this place. It has a wide range of great beers and is a great place to enjoy them. You can Drink. You can eat. And you can enjoy a few games. Roscoe's has video poker, two pool tables, and pinball machines. I played a little video poker and then a couple of the pinball machines. My Favorite one is the Batman pinball that features the Adam West TV show complete with sounds bites and video clips from the show. After i played this pinball machine I moved onto another interesting one-- The Munsters. This also has sound bites and some video clips from the classic TV show. I had come in with a friend to show him what else Montavilla had to offer for good drinking spots. I was drinking Damnation, a Russian River beer. A Belgium strong ale.

This was our first time to this ‘dive’ bar and we were quite pleased that we stopped in. Great selection of beers. I had a sampler of four, 5oz pours. My wife likes sour beers and there were a few of those on tap. Our server was entertaining and had quite a bit of fun telling about our options. We ordered some deep fried pickles along with their buffalo cauliflower appetizer which was spicy but not too hot. Interesting décor and several pool tables off to the right side. I later checked their website and found that it is a webcam showing what beers are currently on tap!

Unique tattooed Portland hipster vibe with some outdoor expansion of seating available. Extremely fast food service and a very good beer selection make this a great place to have a meal and a cold one. I had the cat fish sticks (not a dish I will try again) and plentiful Cajun tots. Very good side salad that other local restaurants should emulate. Dinner was served with a good selection of dipping sauces and the honey mustard dressing was excellent. Solid service, though the bartender had a tendency to surf the web on his phone between customers… A little personality there would go along way.I’ll be back!

Love this dive! Looks ran down on the outside, but inside it's warm and cozy. Cajun pub food , 20 rotating taps and the sushi restaurant next door serves dinner in this establishment. Happy 7 days a week 4-6 with great food prices.

This is a neighborhood tavern or pub with good food. I liked the beer selection (about 12 taps, I think). Everyone else seemed to be a local, but as an out-of-towner I felt welcome. The service was rapid and attentive, but I was never rushed. At a place like this, the food might only be so-so, but I took a risk on an oyster po'boy, and it was very good. The menu has a Louisiana slant, and everything on my plate was fresh and authentic. It seems Portlanders will put up with a lot--spasmodic traffic, hidden freeway entrances, and staggering fashion mistakes--but they won't put up with bad food. Everyone is competing to please your palate, and that's refreshing.

Great beer selection. Limited food. Had the mac and cheese. It wasn't rich like a lot of mac and cheese. Loved the dive bar atmosphere and the people.

I've only been here once. Its Ok for a local dive. Nothing to write home about. Plenty of pool tables, more of a working mans lowbrow bar. Not big on atmosphere or menu, but it still seems to be pretty popular locally. To me its more of a super casual, very laid back late nite bar.

It's a great place to bring your dog, have a drink, have a burger, and watch a game on the tv. It does get quite busy on big game days, so come early.

The food is great, the service is great, the outdoor seating is great, the only complaint is that the waitress wears way too much perfume/body lotion/ some kind of heavy scent and I could smell it on me hours later although she was 6’ away! This interfered with tasting my food and also nauseated me.

I love having Roscoes near me. They have 16 rotating taps of beer and the selection is really well picked. Always a lot of great choices on tap. They also fill growlers to go too. Tasting trays are available and they have beer events too. The food is pretty good too. This is a place where you will find people who enjoy craft beers. Plus a number of hipsters too. (They are everywhere in Portland)

Good selection of beer, fairly limited menu with a New Orleans twist (although you can order sushi from the Sushi Bar next door - you need to know this, no one tells you).

Great place! We tried a few beers with dinner and the whole night was great. Loved the food and local beers.

My fourth time here. New to PDX. Excellent choice of rotating local beers on tap. If you like cajun style food...a must do. Very good catfish choices..fried pickles..yum. Not a lot of coverage on the servers...but the servers rock: Very polite and make you feel at home. The epitome of east portland...customers and atmosphere. Well worth checking out.

20 beers we were able to sample and yummy spicey mac and cheese and blackened chicken salad. Very good service and they know the beers to recommend for your tastes!
funky neighborhood bar
Located in Montavilla a few blocks off 82nd ave. good affordable food! Don't dress up and don't be looking for a quiet romantic dinner. Gumbo was good as was the Jambalaya. Served with corn bread. Enjoy a walk around the Montavilla area and stop in for a beer and food.
